2022 Miami Dolphins Schedule

So now the mystery is revealed, the 2022 NFL Schedule has finally been released. By the amount of “Prime Time” games the Dolphins have received, 3, it appears the NFL schedulers don’t believe the Dolphins are a top tier team. The Dolphins do get a Thursday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Cincy Week 4 (September 29th) for PT game #1. The Pittsburgh Steelers will visit the Dolphins for a Sunday Night matchup Week 7 for PT game #2 (October 23rd). The Dolphins final prime time appearance will be Christmas Day, home against the Packers. There’s another theory floating about that the Dolphins get a bit of a slap in the face, specifically Dolphins owner Steve Ross, for the whole Brian Flores’ lawsuit fiasco, and of course the tanking controversy that comes with it. I’d love to think it it’s the latter rather than the former, but we’ll likely never know.

I’m surprised and disappointed the Dolphins only get 3 prime time games, considering the Chicago Bears also get 3. I was shocked to find out this morning as I listened to WQAM as weekly guest Mike Florio from PFT agreed the Dolphins should have more prime time appearances. If Mike Florio says the Dolphins should get more respect, rest assured we should get more respect!Moving on from prime time games, we face FOUR Prime Time teams in a row. We will host the Patriots Week 1, then travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens. We go back home to face the Bills, who we just have not belonged on the same playing field with. Then we travel to Cincinnati to face the Super Bowl runner up Bengals. That’s a tough stretch right there.

In Week 13, we start our second tough stretch with 3 road games starting with the a West Coast trip to San Francisco to play Darlene’s 49ers. We stay on the West Coast in Cali to play to the Chargers in Los Angeles in Week 14. Then back to the East Coast to face our nemesis and division rival in the cold climes of Upstate NY to face the Bills. Then we face the Green Bay Packers for a toasty warm Christmas Day matchup. Then up north again to meet up with the Patriots in Foxboro on New Year’s Day. The season finale will be at home against the New York Jets.

I think those two tough stretches will define this team. Will HC Mike McDaniel be able to start strong facing four very formidable opponents right out of the gate? The middle of the season may provide a little relief with the Lions, Bears, Browns and Texans, but we will need to be in good enough shape at that juncture to be a playoff team, we can’t be 1-5 or 2-4, because the schedule gets pretty tough right after that facing the Niners, Bolts, Bills and Packers, and then a tough matchup against the new and improved Jets for the finale.

Let the Fest deliberations begin!

.916m for Tindall, less than #51 Jenkins, so our rookies signing won’t count towards top 51 and those that make the final 53 will be a cap savings

Dudley Dipshit Dowrong has our rookies costing us about 6m

Still crapping on Tua I see. Seems to be some sort of game the BCs of the world love to play.

Love the Ingram signing. Great experienced vet coming in to help mentor the younger players at a really good price.

Man, you guys are killing me with the fest. I am supposed to be in Cherokee, NC trout fishing that weekend then drive the pass to Gatlinburg on the 17th to spend 3 nights in a cabin. We do this every year for the fall color change and Ober Gatlinburg October Fest (wife). I do it for the fishing and moonshine tasting. lol

The Kongs are booked at Margaritaville and fly in on the 14th. I am excited to finally be meeting some of the Mob after 16 years on these dang blogs…

I’m also excited to cross “Dolphins game in Miami” off ye olde bucket list.

It’ll actually be my first time attending any Dolphins game, and ultimately was what got my wife on board with the trip.

I told her no way my first Dolphins game was going to be a road game in Santa freakin Clara. So if she wanted that game, we had to do the fest game first.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Congrats Kong!! My first Dolphins was when I got to meet the Rhino gang and the Krishna’s in Houston with my son. Great, great people!!! I can only imagine what a fest will be like. Unfortunately, we got stomped. My first Dolphins home game was the last game for Brady vs Dolphins in Miami. We got stomped again. Finally, last year, we went to the Jets at Miami in December and got the W in a really good/fun game to watch.

Hopefully, you have the same experience as my 3rd go around and meet the great people on this blog.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

        Cheers 🙂
It’s funny you bringing up the Texas fest. I was telling my wife about it last night and I was running down the participants; I recalled Krishna and Rhino, and I knew a Florida guy was there, but couldn’t remember who it was.

323 is the flip side (opposite corner) of what we had last year on the visitor’s side, but our rows are like 5-6 rows further down. And the 8X4 square on the aisle is nice.

    $85 each.

I guess I could trout fish in Gatlinburg, but it is not as good. The Indian Reservation restocks their waters every month with thousands of pounds of trout. Not sure what their plan is for this fiscal year, but the year before they stocked their waters with over 200,000 pounds of trout. You don’t even have to get a NC fishing license as long as you fish the tribal waters. You just get a reservation permit. I get the $27 three-day permit.

Yessir, and that matches my projections from a couple of days ago. It’s UNBELIEVABLE that we still $17M to spend, if we so wish.

That means if an unsuspecting stud falls off a tree for whatever reason (likely for cap reasons), we can land him.

We’ve never been in such a stellar situation over the last 20 years, plus we’ve got two 1st rounders, a 2nd rounder, and two 3rd rounders in the Draft next year. NICE!!!

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And, if we find Michael Deiter not up to par, we can STILL land JC Tretter if need be.

The HOPE would be that we don’t need to sign JC Tretter (or anybody else) and have the ability to rollover an additional $10M to next year’s cap.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m not too concerned about who plays where on the OL. As long as they play well together is all that matters. Give our skill players a chance to make plays and score points. That’s the name of the game.

I’m wondering if we’ll even see much RPO or at all in this new offense. Mainly because I expect more under center. I guess when we’re in 11 personnel and in shotgun it could still be an option because Tua runs it well. We’re definitely not going to see it as much as last year which was basically 90% of the time.

  32. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We have good receiving backs so we should expect a lot of passes to the RBs to mix in with the ground game. A lot of stretching the field laterally gets the defense spaced out and that’s when you’ll have opportunities vertically.

Out of all NFL quarterbacks, Tua Tagovailoa’s bad throw% was 16.3%. That’s the 10th best in the NFL of least bad throws. (not completion%, 7th best in that). That means that Tua haters are only picking from 16.3% of his plays to try to prove their point. (83.7% good to 16.3% bad)

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The people who criticize and scrutinize him the most do not take the entire situation on offense into account. Never ending changes, poor OL play and not the most explosive skill players. Our longest rushing TD was 24 yards by Malcolm Brown. Our longest TD pass was 64 yards to Mack Hollins. We didn’t have any others over 40 yards.

  34. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

A friend just sent this to me: Totally crazy!!!!

Have a history teacher explain this if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

    Now it gets really weird.

    Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy.

    Kennedy’s Secretary was named Lincoln.

    Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named “Ford.”

Kennedy was shot in a car called “Lincoln” made by “Ford.”

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

    And here’s the “kicker”:

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.

A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

    AND……………….:

Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse…

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theater…
I saw this had to share just in case anyone did not know.

It’s ALL OVER IN SUNRISE!! – – The underdog Tampa Bay Lightning have come into Sunrise and hung ANOTHER UPSET VICTORY OVER THE HOMESTANDING FLORIDA PANTHERS, this time on a winning goal by Ross Coulton off of an amazing feed by Nikita Kucherov with just 3.8 seconds left in the final period!!! The TBL’s 2-1 victory puts them up 2-0 in this best of 7 series that now heads back to Amalie Arena in Tampa for games 3 and 4. To put it mildly, this is absolutely NOT what most hockey experts were expecting!!!
    —————
ONCE,AGAIN, The Panther’s inability to score a single goal in the playoffs on the power play was a key aspect of their defeat. Another key factor was goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy’s truly outstanding performance, especially in CRUNCH TIME when the Lightning were down a man due to a penalty. The Panther’s were the top goal scoring team in the Eastern Conference during the regular season. But they’ve come up empty when it counts the most during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Lightning, playing without their top goal scorer in the playoffs over the last four seasons (Brayden Point) have found the right match-ups during this series to thwart the Panthers formidable offense. Kudos to Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper for coming up with the pairings and match-ups that work to his team’s advantage. There’s NO DOUBT that the Panthers have been out coached in this series!!

  37. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

DC Josh Boyer has said he sees the defense from a secondary standpoint. From the back end in. He’s got a really talented group to run the Cover 0, Cover 3 and some mixed in zone with X, Byron, Needam, Holland, Brandon and Rowe along with our LBs. He knows he has pressure players up front. Being able to challenge routes while that’s happening is a big deal.

I don’t know, I feel like our defense is becoming complete. While everyone is focused on Tua, Hill, Waddle etc. what about the defense? This group has top 5-10 ability.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

With Ingram and Tindall I agree, but they still have to execute the scheme as a unit to be great, one player screws up a play and it may expose them

The whole is greater than the sum of their parts

We know how great they can be, but they have to be firing on all cylinders, they’ve been exposed plenty, when not, that’s why Boyer is so important and why some of us aren’t sure he’s100% capable

When I said, I was more concerned with Boyer, than Tua it was more of an I’m not concerned about Tua at all, than a knock on Boyer

The NFL is so O friendly, that any D has to be on its toes at all times

The Miami Dolphins held three first-round draft picks in 2020, using the first to select quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the second to add offensive lineman Austin Jackson, and the third to pick cornerback Noah Igbinoghene…

We know how much better the first 3 picks last year have been, so Grier is seen in a different light these days

What most people don’t seem to realize is the position in need and drafted

In general QB, LT and CB are the hardest 3 positions to get acclimated to in the NFL, so doesn’t it make sense, that these 3 we drafted in 2020 are taking longer, than the 3 in 2021, to get acclimated?

Sure some guys get it done quicker, but overall or in general it takes more time

What I’m getting at is none of them may be busts or all, we won’t know until after this year

  44. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Every offseason we look at our roster and think this is the year, as if everything is about the roster and it is important, but on field play is just as important

Our roster and coaching staff are good enough to win the SB, we just have to put it together on the field

Anyway, I did go ahead and book my wife and me into Margaritaville, since it’s practically like our family theme song, so I look forward to seeing all the Fest regs and meeting several men I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting before.
We’ll be arriving Friday afternoon ready to party.
    Go Dolphins.

Our team and coaches do need time to learn each other though, lots of new faces that all need to get in synch. Fortunately, it helps that Grier brought in almost all guys who fit the prototype that Coach McDaniel detailed for him at each position, at least on offense.

Based on those NextGen Stats, the Dolphins roster features the two players who have produced the four highest regular season mph figures over the past six regular seasons, Hill and Mostert.

Hill has the highest mph on record at 23.24, which happened on a kickoff return for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Houston Texans in Week 2 of the 2016 season. Mostert is the only other clocking exceeding 23 mph, with a 23.09 on an 80-yard touchdown for the 49ers in Week 2 of the 2020 season. Then it’s Hill with a 22.77 in 2016 and Mostert again with a 22.73, again in 2020.

As for Waddle, he had the seventh-highest mph in the NFL last year, according to NextGen Stats, with a 21.78 on his 57-yard reception against the Carolina Panthers at Hard Rock Stadium.

Steve, I expect the defense to be more on the same page this year due to them having quality playing time together. There are more players with experience in the system now than when it was being built. That should help the new additions and 2nd year players. I expect less breakdowns.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yes, but the guy calling the plays is huge, because without the amoeba were just an average D

It’s not as straight up as the O, where we know Armstead/Hill/Williams are major upgrades, so that alone makes them much better

Think where we’re at a disconnect is we just need the O to be somewhat better, but the D needs to be top shelf, like they were the 2nd half of the last 3 years

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Jones and Holland at Safety are further along now too. The overall familiarity between the coaches and players is a big deal. Hopefully we have established a system and culture on defense for years to come like the Steelers and Ravens have been doing.

        “so flat”
Stanger I think the top of your building might be higher than the highest natural point in Florida, which is actually barely even IN Florida, only about a mile or two from Alabama over in the panhandle west of Tallahassee where the last tail of the Appalachian mountains descends into the Gulf of Mexico.
It’s so flat down here that the highest land point in many counties is an interstate overpass.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Yep — our building goes 39 stories. No natural element in South Florida at least even comes close. And we have 270 degree views. On the 4th of July I have walked around and seen like 28 fireworks displays going off…. some like 30+ miles away.

One of the most under-rated aspects of ‘Reek Da Cheetah’? His VJ. He registered a 40.5″ VJ during his Pro Day at West Alabama, and he’s all of 5’10”. You can certainly see it on display in his game: cat gets AIR like Jordan!

Good video showing how he came to prominence in the NFL…

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Good stuff! I also noticed something in these highlights. Hill was often under thrown and still caught it and scored on many of them. Nothing against Mahomes, he can throw it with the best, but he didn’t make Hill, Hill helped make him because he also did it with Alex Smith. So everyone slow your roll about things that aren’t true. 🙂

      • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

One thing that is true is that Hill has been in the playoffs every year he’s been in the league.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Thanks, man. And I concur with ya 100% on those under-thrown passes in KC: the Cheetah made it happen all too often, not just the QB.

  62. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I don’t know why I was not aware of this until he signed with us, but I was not prepared for how thick and bulky Tyreek is in his neck, shoulders, and upper torso. He looks like he could be a battering ram going at those mostly wiry CBs. Most of them will not be able to tackle him if they go high like the rules are now, at least not all by themselves.
Not that I want him taking too many shots to the head, but him having that much solid body mass up top should help him take some hits going across the middle and pop right back up. I hope.

  63. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I notice that in the video above, Hill is playing with various QBs, not just Mahomes.
Maybe even Tua can get him the ball if Chad Henne and Alex Smith and Matt Moore can.
Also, #87 is running downfield blocking on several plays, not to mention an array of other WRs getting in the way of any DB coming across to try to get an angle on Hill during the run.
We have the WRs who can do this, and Gesicki is also fast enough to get down there and get in the line of pursuit as well.
I think it’s going to be fun to watch.

That 4.21 was hand-timed. Meaning, human error could have played a factor.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Hill is the modern day Duper. Both built the same way with thick bodies and super fast. Waddle is faster than Clayton was but Clayton was fast enough and very savvy. It looks like we might have a combo like that again. 🙂

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:
