NOT CONVINCED we’re gonna lose, BUT, if we do, put this loss squarely on the head coach. Had we kicked that medium range FG, we’d be up 9 now and popping the corks!
SPEAKING ABOUT CORKS, I just opened one of my fav, reasonably priced, cabernets, that’s been breathing for about 20-25 minutes. Should be ready at the final buzzer.
AHHH, the great taste of cabernet!!!
Victory, SWEET VICTORY!!!
nOW SOMEBODY KICK THE COACH RIGHT IN THE NUTS FOR ME!!
—————
the power of the throwback jerseys saved the coaches’ ass.
THE SPIRIT OF THE PERFECT SEASON was in the air tonight!!
Coach McDaniel, ya damn near screwed us out of a win by not just kicking the FG on 4th down. Instead, ya went back-to-back to Chase Edmonds… who is demonstrably the 2020 version of Jordan Howard in terms of YPC with hands of brick.
Yessir! X was good tonight and rarely challenged. And when challenged, he shut their receivers down. Good showing, despite recovering and/or still working through groin(s).
I feel like they picked on Iggy all night and he finally made em pay at the end. McDaniel has beaten Belichick, McDermott, Harbaugh, and Tomlin. No one is immune to constructive criticism but all coaches roll the dice on certain calls and the margins are tiny. He’s got my vote of confidence regardless of he guessed wrong on any particular call.
I mean, ya know how I feel about play call 2nd guessing but I know its gonna happen. And have done it myself.
With a coach as unorthodox as McDaniel he’s gonna be exposed a bunch. I just hope everything works out when it comes to making the playoffs.
When your defense is handling business it frees up the ability to take a risk. It’s not just about the odds of converting, it’s about the odds of winning vs losing which is heavily influenced by projecting what happens after you succeed or fail as well.
I’m extra on analytics but forgiving of mistakes.. I admit it.
Man, I feel SO GOOD for Iggy!!! He finally made a play that hopefully parlays into further confidence going forward. I hope this is just the beginning of Iggy’s transformation into a solid player.
WELL, JAHN, even after tonight’s fuck-up, Coach McDaniel is STILL the best head coach hired during the Steve Ross Era. I, too, wouldn’t fire him over this incident, but that doesn’t mean I’m happy about it, either. The art of being an NFL HEAD COACH usually is a LONG learning experience, even for the best coaches. You get to be a “best coach” if your successes far outnumber your fuck-ups!
———
Right now, Im keeping a little tally sheet on such issues. Hopefully the plus signs will vastly outnumber the minuses at season’s end.
I feel ya. I think if I have promoted one belief on this blog its that I want to see talented young coaches get a chance to gain said experience. Short term pain for long term gain.
But I also know it’s not always feasible. It’s a win now league.
Also OD, sorry to have missed you at the fest game, but I hope you’re proud that our group brought us a win and honored thw 72 team on its 50th anniversary. I thought of you several tines tonight and asked about ya at the fest to several people. Sending ya positive vibes brother.
50 years ago we went undefeated, it was a great thing to live thru as a kid, but enough already with that celebration, reminds me of my dad talking about the Brown’s of the 50s
JAHN; IF my medical situation AND my wife’s medical situation both improve, I’ll be back at Hard Head Stadium next season. Also, eventually, I will retire (probably in about 5 years or so when I’m past 80. We plan to return to our paid-off house in the West Palm Beach area and take in as many FAU and Dolphin games as we can! I REALLY HOPE to see YOU and all the gang at some point in the future!
Hell yeah Rock, Manitoba, Boulder, Phindog, Mike E, Stanger, and especially cool to hang w Capt Stubbs. Stanger you’re a good human brother.
Also apologies to anyone I missed. I just had this feeling that it’s a very rare feat to get a group that diverse in background and world views that have a bind as strong as our passion for the fins was special. Thanks gang
And you are an awesome fella Jahn. Taught me that when I say hoppy, I really mean bitter. Same time every “Hop Ale” I’ve had is pretty bitter. You have to set up a South FL brew house and teach me how it should taste. 🙂
No worries, brother. It was a genuine pleasure to meet you as well. At some point in the future we’ll definitely be getting down south to say hi and check out your brewery 🙂
While I did not like the 4th down call, fuck everyone who wants to call out MM for it. Ballsey call that didn’t work out. Happens. Miami won. If you can’t celebrate and be happy with that, go be a loser and root for some other loser team.
Thank goodness we won that game. I’ve skewered Iggy on here many times, so it’s only right to give him his due; he seems to be progressing every week. With all of the injuries in the secondary, it would be incredible if he could finally realize his potential. I didn’t love going for it on fourth down in that situation- we had momentum carried over from the second half and should have kicked the FG to keep that going, glad the D stepped up and it didn’t cost us. Nice win for our beloved Dolphins to get back on track!
I know you can’t count them because they didn’t happen, but the Steelers could have potentially had a handful of turnovers against us. We got lucky. You need luck to win sometimes, so it’s cool with me. You can see we’re a different team with Tua.
When Tua ran the ball, it was like he purposely wanted to make a statement to the rest of the NFL, media and his team. Like, “Fuck y’all, I ain’t scared.”
Man, the Dolphins really tried hard last night to give the Steelers a win! Tua had at least FOUR dropped interceptions. Our WR’s and RB’s could not catch the ones thrown their way.
The Roach closing out the game with an Int in the endzone was a surprise to me. I thought for sure they would get the TD to win once MM F’d up and went for it on 4th down instead of making it a two score game!
The bias of the announcers last night was really pissing me off. They were actively rooting for the Steelers on air. Even though the Steelers trailed the entire game, they kept saying “if Miami can win” and stuff like “this should be enough for them to pull ahead” shit like that. Then on the Iggy int they were like “He didn’t get both feet down, not a catch!” “They are going to review it but it wasn’t a catch…”
McDaniel just gave a detailed explanation of his decision-making process here. Said his decision to go for it was against the numbers his analytics people presented. https://t.co/gcLtAy8RMy
That’s a horseshit, canned answer, least he could’ve done was been honest or given us his thought process
Even though the situation didn’t dictate going for it I’m OK with him being aggressive in that situation, just don’t call an FN run up the middle, that just failed the previous play
MM failed the team last night with his poor play calling
In the end we won. I didn’t mind Tua lowering his shoulder and fighting for yards. It means he is not gun shy which is what I was worried about. Also not as likely to be concussed that way as opposed to being blindsided or being thrown down
Also, I REALLY loved seeing those old uniforms. Csonka with a cane is reminder of our mortality. When I think back to those days, or try to explain it to someone who wasn’t born yet, I always seem to start with Csonka. I had a Griese jersey, I pretended to be Warfield in street games, but Csonka’s presence on the field created opportunities for the rest of that offense.
He gives some weak ass answer about why he decided to go for it, but didn’t answer the question about the play call and the reporter didn’t press him on it
So we’re 4-3, have lots of injures, the OL isn’t the problem it was last year, guys like Shell and Little have stepped in admireably
Ogbah out hurt last night, Flowers on IR showed, others in front 7 also ailing, DBs out in droves, but if we can get Jones back at CB the D can be good enough
On O I have some issues with Wilson and am pissed MM hasn’t activated EZ yet because he’s not ready to play every WR position, I mean WTF is that, let him play 1 position and get acclimated as he learns the rest
Sherfield has been a good find
Gesicki I’m done with, we don’t have the luxury of carrying him for his 3 catches once in a while , his TDs have been good this year, but a 2 way TE to replace him will help all game
We won 1 game handily for our standards won 3 by skin of our teeth and lost 3 we could’ve won
We’re competitive week to week, need to clean it up on O and get better playcalling throughout
Bottomline is we can challenge for division or fall flat on our face, or as I expect somewhere in between, we really don’t know any more, than we did before week 1, except we aren’t really good or bad
Brandon Jones having MRI on injured knee this morning. Holland played all 75 defensive snaps last night, Fejedelem played 18 defensive snaps, Rowe 17, McKinley 16…Brandon Jones left with injury after 42
Tua lowered his shoulder into a MLB who is 5’11 and 234.
That’s a thick, compact guy with a lot of muscle, not a wiry DB.
He’s 20 pounds heavier AND shorter than TUA.
I think talking about Tua like he’s brittle bc of concussions shows a considerable amount of ignorance about concussions
It doesn’t matter if you are a 14 foot frost giant – if your 🧠 moves round your skull bc if the impact you take, you are gonna get concussed. Brains don’t get harder as people get bigger
Swinging a lighter guy around and slamming him with all your weight on his head is probably at risk behavior though – the nfl is obviously not looking at some of the WWE style tackles we keep seeing
Waddle got whipped around and slammed into the turf last night. Very similar to Tua’s Cincy tackle. Lucky Waddle didn’t get injured on that play. Those are the tackles they should be looking at.
Our defensive stats last night are all pretty good. Kept Pitt under 100 rushing yards total. Kept them to 5.8 yards per attempt. 3 ints. 2 sacks. A pretty solid defensive showing.
Yesterday I didn’t understand how we started so well then our offense just went into a coma. I understand they made some adjustments but why couldn’t we make similar adjustments? It seemed to me even though we won the game we were out coached.
Some one should tell Collinsworth that this isn’t horseshoes –
You don’t get points for “almost”
Tua is throwing balls in tight windows, that’s going to lead to DBs getting their hands in the balls
Some of those “almost” interceptions would have taken incredible plays by the DBs to catch
The reality is he Steelers know they don’t move the ball downfield on offense and they are trying to make a big defensive play A kind of like us when Flores was our coach. So they are being pretty aggressive defensively in terms of
Coverage
We were actually eating them up early in the game until they started to have their LBs get into passing lanes and cover guys
Between Myles Jack and Devin Bush they have very good
Coverage LBs
Why is this noteworthy? Nearly everyone had the Colts making the playoffs this season. Looks as though they may be folding. That’s one less contender to be concerned about regarding the AFC playoffs unless Sam Ehlinger becomes a star.
I was watching other teams today and was surprised to see some teams would block the kicking team’s gunners. Great concept.
It was crazy, their returners would actually be able to return punts because they didn’t have 5 defenders there right when they catch the ball.
Keep feeding the beast
Stop dancing
I hate that they don’t call PI just bc a guy turns his head around
Again bad play calling ends a drive
Wow that was ticky tack
That illegal contact WR had his hands on Iggy that’s not illegal contact
Fuck
It would be awesome if we were up 9
Phillips held badly in plain sight
Yep
This announcing crew is really starting to fucking piss me off
That hold was egregious
The Pitt fans don’t travel they live in South FL
No fan is traveling to see a 2 win team in week 7
In a season when they’re supposed to suck
Snowman!!!!!!
Woooooohoooooooooooo!
What do ya know an actual holding call
HOLLAND!!!!
Holand baby!
Don’t call a hold tHat prevents a sack an uniformed error collinsworth
☃️❤️
Wow…..
More stress
Play calling driving me crazy
Yep..,
We’re gonna lose here 17-16, thanks MM, but it doesn’t matter anyways, we’ve got too many injuries to compete down the stretch
Just play Skylar the rest of the way
NOT CONVINCED we’re gonna lose, BUT, if we do, put this loss squarely on the head coach. Had we kicked that medium range FG, we’d be up 9 now and popping the corks!
SPEAKING ABOUT CORKS, I just opened one of my fav, reasonably priced, cabernets, that’s been breathing for about 20-25 minutes. Should be ready at the final buzzer.
How is that not a pick
^
That was a clear interception and these announcers are insufferable
Pickett could have run for the first
Iggy!
Fucker has nine lives
LOL
Iggy
Iggy way to go
Iggy
Fucking IGGGGGGY!!!!!!!!!
Iggy with the big FU int!
Not sure why Pickett threw it to Iggy, lol, but I’ll take it
Take it
MM needs to go blow Iggy, he saved his ass
3 INTs
We almost face that game away with that dumb 4th down call
Had to have that game
Sadistic
Still
That was exhausting 😵💫
It don’t come easy
Here’s hoping some of the injured weren’t bad and we get some back next week ..
^
My guess is Jones is done for year
What a FUGLY game, but we’ll TAKE IT!!!
WAY TO GO, IGGY!!!
Holland looked like fucking Ed Reed on that pick
Winning ugly better than losing pretty
At Detroit, Chicago, then Cleveland at home, 3 must wins
And right back in the thick of it 💪
Bridgewater looks like a tool wearing a touque
You could’ve stopped at tool
😊
We had 1 passrusher tonight Phillips
14 sacks in 7 games led by Phillips 3
AHHH, the great taste of cabernet!!!
Victory, SWEET VICTORY!!!
nOW SOMEBODY KICK THE COACH RIGHT IN THE NUTS FOR ME!!

Double doink, off of both
Not sure what that Steeler official was looking at, seemed pretty clear live
Coach McDaniel, ya damn near screwed us out of a win by not just kicking the FG on 4th down. Instead, ya went back-to-back to Chase Edmonds… who is demonstrably the 2020 version of Jordan Howard in terms of YPC with hands of brick.
I was gonna rip my hair out when he didnt kick the FG and hand it off to edmonds

My thought as well. Let’s hope for the best.
I think the game ball(s) should go to ALL of our secondary players — most of whom are backups — for winning this game for us tonight.
WAY TO GO, TEAM!!!
X was good tonight, expected him to get the winning int, but they didn’t throw his way much
Yessir! X was good tonight and rarely challenged. And when challenged, he shut their receivers down. Good showing, despite recovering and/or still working through groin(s).
STEVE and SON-OF-A-SON; We WON”T win those next 3 games if we play and coach like we did tonight!!
I agree, we only won, because we played a rookie QB
And 0 sacks
I concur with ya, Mr. Campbell.
Sorry, that was redundant.
I concur, Mr. Campbell!
The only thing worse than the decision to go on 4th was the play call
I still believe in him, but he tested my patience tonight
I mean, ya know how I feel about play call 2nd guessing but I know its gonna happen. And have done it myself.
With a coach as unorthodox as McDaniel he’s gonna be exposed a bunch. I just hope everything works out when it comes to making the playoffs.

Yeah it was strange without him there. Great seeing you Jahn. Cheers
50 years ago we went undefeated, it was a great thing to live thru as a kid, but enough already with that celebration, reminds me of my dad talking about the Brown’s of the 50s
It might serve the team well that Coach believed in his Defense and they delivered
JAHN; IF my medical situation AND my wife’s medical situation both improve, I’ll be back at Hard Head Stadium next season. I’ll hope for that Randy. Cheers bro.

I know there’s more but please know it was a privilege to hang with all of ya.
Krishna…yeah buddy.
And you are an awesome fella Jahn. Taught me that when I say hoppy, I really mean bitter. Same time every “Hop Ale” I’ve had is pretty bitter. You have to set up a South FL brew house and teach me how it should taste. 🙂
Especially nice to get a win against Minkah and Flores
Cav, I’m an idiot for leaving ya out above. It was an honor my man
No worries, brother. It was a genuine pleasure to meet you as well. At some point in the future we’ll definitely be getting down south to say hi and check out your brewery 🙂

I like that he’s sort of edgy. It didn’t work. If it had, everyone would be bringing out the wheelbarrow again. 🤷🏼♀️
Yep
Top 40 football players the last 20 years in Nevada:
#29: Kyle Van Noy (2009)
– College: BYU
– High school: McQueen (Reno, NV)
– National ranking: #266 in 2009 (4 stars, 0.8998 rating)
– Position ranking: #13 (ATH)
Didn’t know KVN was from Reno
4-3 overall, 2-1 division and 4-2 conference is a good place to be.
I wouldn’t call 3rd in division, about to tied for last good, but we got a win
Not quite back on track, and may never be this year, but for this week we can feel like the season hasn’t completely derailed and we’re back in it
With Tua starting we’re 17-9, with two losses he got hurt early in and couldn’t finish. We win with Tua most of the time. It is known. 🙂
No sacks or turnovers and the defense plays a good game 3-0 in the turnover battle. Sometimes you have to win ugly games.
Phillips had a sack
Tim was talking about us not getting sacked and no turnovers for our offense.
Thank goodness we won that game. I’ve skewered Iggy on here many times, so it’s only right to give him his due; he seems to be progressing every week. With all of the injuries in the secondary, it would be incredible if he could finally realize his potential. Yeah, Tua was lucky on a few. I was hoping for a more impressive win but will take any win. Especially over the Stealers.
When Tua ran the ball, it was like he purposely wanted to make a statement to the rest of the NFL, media and his team. Like, “Fuck y’all, I ain’t scared.”
I was like dang Tua, don’t do that. lol
I saw it as fuckit or oh well, after sliding too early on the previous run
Man, the Dolphins really tried hard last night to give the Steelers a win! Tua had at least FOUR dropped interceptions. Our WR’s and RB’s could not catch the ones thrown their way.
The Roach closing out the game with an Int in the endzone was a surprise to me. I thought for sure they would get the TD to win once MM F’d up and went for it on 4th down instead of making it a two score game!
It’s a W and we can move on, but DAMN MAN!
Now we move on to 1-5 Detroit then 2-4 Bears.
“wow, it WAS a catch”
F you you bastards! Collingsworth was awful
If they (Steelers) don’t win this game we can look back at that dropped int
Most of the drops weren’t easy catches, that’s why these guys play DB
That’s a horseshit, canned answer, least he could’ve done was been honest or given us his thought process
Even though the situation didn’t dictate going for it I’m OK with him being aggressive in that situation, just don’t call an FN run up the middle, that just failed the previous play
MM failed the team last night with his poor play calling
My confidence in MM and Tua have both taken a hit, expected more from both
Tua I give a pass to, because of what he’s been thru, MM not so much
Tua was great early even though he had to overcome Ozark Eichenberg ‘s eradic play
https://www.google.com/search?q=ozark+ike&oq=ozark+ike&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i512j0i22i30l2j0i390l3.8480j0j7&client=ms-android-samsung-gs-rev1&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=O6tbadevp78R0M
In the end we won. I didn’t mind Tua lowering his shoulder and fighting for yards. It means he is not gun shy which is what I was worried about. Also not as likely to be concussed that way as opposed to being blindsided or being thrown down
The dude he hit was much smaller than he, so I was fine with it, and Tua delivered the hit
Exactly. Delivering the hit is far less likely to cause a concussion
Not the first one!
He tried to truck a LB
After 1st qtr I thought we’d score 30+ … whatever, it’s great to have Tua back and get our first win in a month.
Maybe it will be in the full transcript for you Steve?
He gives some weak ass answer about why he decided to go for it, but didn’t answer the question about the play call and the reporter didn’t press him on it
I didn’t realize Ogbah was out. That might explain the lack of pass rush we saw
We have a ton of injuries right now
I didn’t even know the DB that made the first interception. I was like, ” Who the fuck is that? When did they sign him?”
We are playing random dbs off the street at this point
Tua was rusty and not his normal accurate self. Still won.
Agree, he looked, not on the same page with his receivers too often, then also looked like he was trying to avoid injury/contact at other times
We got the win while he got re-acclimated
So we’re 4-3, have lots of injures, the OL isn’t the problem it was last year, guys like Shell and Little have stepped in admireably
Ogbah out hurt last night, Flowers on IR showed, others in front 7 also ailing, DBs out in droves, but if we can get Jones back at CB the D can be good enough

Piggy
We signed Justin Bethal weeks ago and had him on the PS. He was a break-glass player. Smart move by Grier.
I’ll take him
Tua lowered his shoulder into a MLB who is 5’11 and 234.
That’s a thick, compact guy with a lot of muscle, not a wiry DB.
He’s 20 pounds heavier AND shorter than TUA.
That is all fine. That won’t cause a concussion
I saw something different
You are also correct, but you talking about the time he drove his shoulder into a DB much later in the game. That was a different play.

Waddle got whipped around and slammed into the turf last night. Very similar to Tua’s Cincy tackle. Lucky Waddle didn’t get injured on that play. Those are the tackles they should be looking at.
There was also a helmet to helmet hit on their goal line that they didn’t call.
Yep, on Mostert
Our defensive stats last night are all pretty good. Kept Pitt under 100 rushing yards total. Kept them to 5.8 yards per attempt. 3 ints. 2 sacks. A pretty solid defensive showing.
Yesterday I didn’t understand how we started so well then our offense just went into a coma. I understand they made some adjustments but why couldn’t we make similar adjustments? It seemed to me even though we won the game we were out coached.
Absolutely, MM even said as much
He was horrible last night
Too bad for the kid. HA HA HA it happened to the Jets.
Williams, Tyreek, Mostert, Armstead, Ingram, Flowers, Shell
We had one helleva FA class
Then there’s all the DBs playing next man up
Chris Olave (Saints rookie WR) was thrown to the ground like that 2 weeks ago and was concussed as a result
There’s a lot of that sort of tackling lately
Tre Norwood 6′ 194 was the DB Tua put his shoulder into
Go to 5:10
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cXIo4gpxCXA
The second one he tried to truck.
The first one was LB
#Dolphins defense was on the field 30 snaps in the 4th quarter alone last night and Jaelan Phillips was out there for 26 of them
Look at the effort on this play to sprint across the field and tackle Pickett short of the sticks on third down
Collinsdorf last night kept talking about the missed ints by Pitt, we had a game Luke that earlier in the year against the Ravens I believe
It happens
Some one should tell Collinsworth that this isn’t horseshoes –
You don’t get points for “almost”
Tua is throwing balls in tight windows, that’s going to lead to DBs getting their hands in the balls
Some of those “almost” interceptions would have taken incredible plays by the DBs to catch

This…
