And based on when this was written — could not include today’s games.
—————-
“Entering this weekend, the Dolphins had a 70% chance of making the playoffs, and a win could’ve catapulted their odds to 89%, according to FiveThirtyEight.
With a loss, however, Miami’s odds have fallen again – this time dropping to just 65%.”
Or yesterday’s
Oh no all the way down to 65 from 70😁
Raiders block punt , ball at NE 20
Raiders TD 17-3 :04 left in half
TD Raiders!
TD Bucs 😊
17-0

Well SB, hate to break this to ya bud, but our offense is 9th in points scored, and that’s including the 3 games Tua missed, and the 2 eggs we laid on the WC with Tua. The defense on the other hand is 26th in points allowed. The defense never carries the day, it bends a lot, and sometimes doesn’t break, but talking about moral victories, they give lots of those, just no wins.

Last night we had 405 yards to their 454. I mean how many games do you allow 454 yards on defense and expect to win?
_____
I hate to break it to you, but a history lesson of the team’s season doesn’t address what I said. Our offense failed in the moment plain and simple. You can’t just keep giving the ball back to Josh Allen and not expect him to do something at some point in the game.
Offense failed is right
There’s still a lot of season left and there are going to be a lot of moments
We are gonna have to win road playofff games against good teams
Titans with a crazy INT in their own EZ , stopping Chargers
7-at the half
17-3 Bucs at the 1-2
Games are going in our favour so far
Fucking Carr. Dugger had that read the whole way
I missed it I assume the TD was a pick six ?
Yeah, quick throw to the WR at the LOS
And now Bucs Botch a fake punt at their 20 Cincy 2nd and goal .. maybe I spoke too soon 😡
Mack Hollins with a great ST play. We miss that from him.
Yes we sure do …
We put up 29 points on one of the best defenses in football in the road and somehow it is the offense fault why we lost. Not sure I get that. Yes the offense could have scored but also the defense could have stopped the Bills too
Well , they did cause 2 fumbles that were not given to us
New Age, I appreciate your comments. I should have never brought up the topic. We all believe what we believe.
It’s all good. You’re a good dude and I appreciate you putting forth your beliefs. I agree with you on almost everything non-religious lol….and that’s just fine.
Raiders are probably going to eff this up
At least the refs got that OOB throw right
Wow at Bengals .. Burrow sacked for a 30 yd kids in 4-3.. holding on Tampa gives them 1st down
30 yd loss
That was brutal
Bengals RT held the pass rusher twice on that TD throw, no call.
Bucs trying really hard to lose this game .. only leading 17- 12 now
Now Brady fumble to the Bengals .. OY
TD bengals ..
FG Pats
Raiders in complete collapse
Bucs in complete collapse
Fumble Tampa , recovered by Bengals.
Titans miss go ahead FG
Chargers TD
Bengals TD
Late games all going to shit now
Chargers and Bengals in control of their games, but I’ll trade both of those games for a Pets loss to pair with the Jest loss.
But the Raiders can’t get out of their own way
13 penalties, 8 by the offense, smh
And there goes the Raiders game.
Patriots just took the lead
That was so pathetic
Dan Campbell seems right for Detroit….
Sorry CK. Should be stand alone…lol
lol, I agree with ya. I’m happy to see Campbell having some success in Detroit.
Josh McDaniels is so done
He doesn’t have Brady and he’s failed twice…oops
Bengals game is least important, they lead their division .. other two are a bit more impactful
Bengals winning is actually good for us
Some one, somewhere thought “80 for Brady” was a good idea
Carr looks horrible
Wow!
Damn!
How does Cincy help us? They best the Ravens with the division and we best them in conference and head to head? We to be best in conference, right?
…need to be…
Let Cincinnati win the division and we have the edge on the Ravens in a Wildcard berth
Wow!! I can’t believe they let that stand
luckily there wasn’t a better angle, and i guess the ref wasn’t convinced it was clear and conclusive
Just shows Brady girly got the refs in the divorce from Bill
TD Raiders
TD Titans
TD Titans as well that one also tied :44 left in regulation
lol, both of these games could still go our way.
I’d have preferred a Bengals loss (I know we want them to win the division, but they have a tough remaining schedule, and could potentially still be in play for the WC.) But the Bengals winning doesn’t exactly hurt us.
Bengals winning the division helps us
I literally just said that. But I guess I’ll repeat my post. They have a tough remainging schedule and may still be in play for the WC, so I’d rather see them lose.
I just said it more emphatically
🤣 touche’
Bucs will 6-8and still division leaders😳
Chargers in FG range🙄
HOLY SHIT
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!! Raiders!!!
Ha ha Raiders win what a way to win
LMAO!!! That was the Miracle in Miami in reverse
What a dumbass
That WAS AWESOME by Raiders
So the two of the three most inmportant games went our way today.
Chargers loss would have been nice, but the Pets and Jest were the most important.
That was one of the craziest endings I’ve ever seen.
Chargers going to win
Chargers win 😡,Patriots LOSE 🤡
The best part of the Raiders win was the stiff arm to Mac Jones
Patriots have the Benglas and us at home, then the Bills in Buffalo. They are toast.
^
Not sure, but I believe the Chargers win moves them ahead of us in the wildcard and we move into the last wildcard spot.
You are correct sir , strangely our playoff chances also went UP 3-4 % from this morning
How’d you like to be a Patriots player in the locker room right now?
I wouldn’t want to be that guy that threw the last lateral, LOL
Honestly, I feel a lot better coming out of this week than I did going in. We appear to have gotten our offensive mojo back, and 2 wins will almost certainly get us in.
I’d feel better if we can have a complete game, both offensively and defensively.
I just don’t think we’re there yet. Our expectations were too high. We’re a playoff team with some issues, not SB contenders.
-This team has to learn how to win tough playoff type games.
-We need to get some players back in the secondary.
-We need to fill in some missing pieces:
a good TE
another piece on the oline
a playmaker 3 down linebacker, and/ or another pass rusher
ALL OF A SUDDEN, the evil genius looks STUPID!!!!
I don’t think it’s a DONE DEAL that Belicheat will surpass Don Shula’s record of 347 wins in the NFL. ROBERT KRAPP can’t be happy with back-to-back losing seasons!!–And, for the first time in a long time, there will be some empty seats come game time at Gillette Stadium. Belicheat’s W-L record is below .500 in NFL games NOT started by Brady. Meanwhile, Shula’s record in games NOT started by Marino were still well over .500.
Who cares? If he has more wins than Shula, he deserves it.
Sounds like violating the NFL rules on a consistent basis doesn’t bother you at all. In that case, I understand your backing of cheaters.
Winning by cheating is OK?
NOT to me.
———————-
But I understand your criticism of Shula. I, too, was frustrated by his inability to win a Super Bowl with Marino. But he WON TWO SUPER BOWLS with a very young Bob Griese at the helm. And he achieved the one and only PERFECT SEASON with ancient EARL MORRALL starting 12 of the 17 games that year. Don’t think Belicheat could have come close with Morrall. Often overlooked was Shula’s getting to Super Bowl XVII with David Woodley at quarterback. I had a bird’s eye seat at the Rose Bowl, hoping for a miracle. But John Riggins scored the winning touchdown in the 4th quarter.
It’s to Shula’s everlasting credit that he got THAT team to the Super Bowl.
And Belicheat hasn’t come close since Brady left town and WON A SUPER BOWL in Tampa.
Lost in all this is the fact that Shula also took the Baltimore Colts to a Super Bowl. Maybe, If Belicheat gets fired, HE’LL lead a second team to a Super Bowl, too???
We are now the 7th seed in the playoffs.
Had we won in SanFran, we’d have been the #1 seed at that moment. Now, we’re barely in it.
Shula never got Marino a championship, so that will always be a failure to me
Shula’s loyalty to Olivadotti was the reason, IMO.
But let us also acknowledge that DON SHULA is the most winning coach in NFL history.
WELL Shula wouldn’t Cheat like the Patriots franchise has. I’m REAL SURE Shula WANTED to win one with Marino. But if it meant subverting NFL rules to do it, well, he would not stoop that low.
So, Mr. Bookman, your criticism of Shula has some merit. BUT he’s STILL the winningest head coach in NFL history and the ONLY NFL COACH with a PERFECT SEASON ON HIS RESUME!!
To me, Don Shula was the greatest coach in NFL history. If you think he’s been a failure overall, then you and I will just have to disagree.
Have a great evening, sir.
The Good News Bear is back
IMO, in the AFC you have the Bills, Chiefs, and Bengals in tier one- real SB contenders.
I think we’re in tier two with the Titans, Ravens, Chargers, Jest, and Pets- playoff contenders.
Then everyone else.
It’s difficult to wrap one’s mind around the fact that the Colts have not been mathematically eliminated yet!
lol
I watched the highlights of last evening’s game a moment ago and let me tell y’all something: though it wasn’t a TD, Raheem Mostert’s run at the end of the 1st quarter was an absolute beaut!
I hit rewind probably 10 times on that play, and that is probably the most incredible run I’ve seen from a Phin since Ricky Williams.
^
Piggy, I had to replay that 3 times! lol
What a bone headed coaching move by the patriots
Kong – with all the draft capital we gave up in the trades we made, we’re built to win now or next year, we don’t have a heckuva lot of building blocks left.
Fortunately we don’t need many pieces. We can probably address most pressing needs in FA
And recovering players who are currently out coming back next year … Mind You, we do have a LOT of players becoming FA at end of season
MAYBE, Ken. Steve Ross’s FO has utterly FAILED to address this franchise’s greatest need for about a decade. That being the Offensive Line.
But hope spring eternal with many Dolphin fans, doesn’t it?
That’s one of the biggest reasons I didn’t want to make that trade for Chubb. I would have been more on board with that trade if Ross hadn’t fucked us with his meddling.
But we get some experience in tough games this year (hopefully a playoff game or two as well), and we get guys back from injury in the secondary, add one or two players in FA, maybe we’ll it’ll be enough to make a serious run next year.
Who knows, maybe the team surprises us and puts it together the next few weeks and we can make a run, I just don’t think that’s realistic.
Based on teams below us and who they play , we win 2of three we are in , possibly sneak in winning only one , but I don’t want to back in playing like shit … take last nights energy and roll with it and over the next three opposition 👍🤞
Chargers have it much easier against Colts, Rams and Broncos left. They could easily win out.
Jets have Jaguars, Seahawks and Dolphins.
And Wilson at QB for at least Thursday night
Yes , they are in front of us .. that loss last week hurt us big
Was meant to be below Chargers posting
Pats have Bengals, Dolphins and Bills. Nice!
Ravens have Falcons, Steelers and Bengals
And have Huntley at QB now
Regarding the argument of is it our offense or our defense? Which one is the bigger problem?
IMO it’s the defense. We give up way too many points early in the game and have gotten worse in redzone defense overall.
The offense has scored 345 points so far this season. That is 3rd best in the AFC behind the Chiefs then Bills. We are ranked 6th overall in the NFL in scoring.
The defense has given up 344 points so far this season. That is tied for dead last in the AFC with the 1-12-1 Texans. There are only 5 defenses in the NFL worse in allowing points and they are all in the NFC.
None of the last 2 games this weekend should affect those numbers.
Wow , we all think Gesicki is slow .. watch Washington #86 .. they bring him in motion and he looks like he’s walking
Jaguars have a legitimate chance to win that division and be the #4 seed. Win out and they are in.
Both teams still play the Texans and each other.
The Titans still have the Cowboys and the Jags have the Jest.
Jags have the tiebreaker with the head to head (one still to play).
I already penciled in Tenn, didn’t realize their lead was 1
Anybody here subscribe to Stathead (PFR)? Can’t believe I don’t, but I was wondering if we’ve ever lost a game while rushing for over 180 yards.
I believe last evening is the very first time we’ve lost while rushing the ball so damned well.
I’m talking about in the history of our franchise, mind you.
We need a TE to do what Knox does for Buff or a possession TE, someone that can catch a pass close to the LOS and get YAC
Don’t we still have a New guy that looked really good in PS , and then got injured ?? Not Long or Carter , but the other guy ..
Tanner Conner … there is hope for him
Wow , shows he’s been active 12 games this year .. Who Knew🤷♂️😳
Yes, John Lovett, and he looked good the 2 practices I went to
He is a FB isn’t he ? Can he play TE ??
He played TE the practices I went to or at least Hback

Our defense just isn’t up to snuff. Yes, our secondary is compromised, but we don’t get to the QB nearly enough without blitzing extra defenders. Hate to say it but I think Raekwon Davis needs to be better, or maybe we just need to get a player at NT/DT. He doesn’t blow up the middle, ever. It was always either Wilkins, Ogbah or Seiler, but Davis is practically invisible
——————-
First of all, GREAT comment, IMO! Hadn’t thought about Raekwon in a while being he doesn’t make a lot of noise on the field.
Aside from his sophomore season at Tuscaloosa (8.5 sacks), Raekwon has never recorded more than 1.5 sacks in a season (college or pro). Without looking it up, I’m guessing Raekwon was much lighter in his sophomore season… and he was then asked to put on weight to be a prototypical pro NT.
As an NFL NT, he’s not going to be much of a pass-rusher unless he’s a freak like a young Dontari Poe (obviously not the case). His job is to clog up lanes and shut down the running game… and he’s rather successful in doing as much in the way of a Paul Soliai. Could he be better? I say hell yeah, and he’s still young.
If we want a NT that will additionally rush the passer up the middle, we’re probably looking at an early 1st round pick on a freak athlete.
Raekwon best serves as a 3-4 NT, or a 4-3 NG, IMO… and I don’t think we play him often as the latter. As such, can’t expect him to take on two O-Linemen and destroy like Hulk in the pass-rushing category.
But as a 4-3 NG when O-Lines have to be concerned about a blitzing DT next to him (say, Christian Wilkins)? He has a much better chance of succeeding in a pass-rush sit should they double Wilkins.
Even so, I don’t think Raekwon is fast enough to be that pass-rushing guy at 330 pounds… he’s probably only ever going to be a space-eater like Soliai.
* about a nice pass-rushing DT next to him…
Rakweon is not a pass rusher
LOL, read above! 😉
I absolutely agree with ya: he hasn’t the speed.
I was agreeing with you
My bad, Hulkster. I thought you were bringing something up that I hadn’t.
Cyber beer to ya, Bro!
Dwelley would make sense .. Ingram has been blowing up lately, Dan Arnold is not a bad option either
Engram is more WR than TE not a great fit imo
I thought that too … Dwelley fills in well when Kittle has been out , and MM is familiar with him
I am not really familiar with Dwelley but I know you have a good on SF players
Unfortunately yes 🤪
Maybe if Steve Ross wasn’t an ass-clown, we could have used our now-forfeited 1st round pick on Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer. Just sayin’…
I KNOW! I KNOW! It’s all in the past!
But seriously, Ross needs to sell NOW before he does something really foolish again.
97 yard scoring drive for the Giants
That’s what happens when your QB is just a game manager, even though Redskuns think Heineke is their guy
We won’t have bug bucks to spend on TE, we don’t need a big $ one, just a possession one
Dwelley or Arnold I think could fit that bill.
Should be Smythe, but we have this bad habit of running routes 2 yards short of the 1st down marker
The way our offense is built it is going go through our WRs first. They are the playmakers. The TEs are strictly a 2nd or 3rd read in this offense
Follow along, what has happened to us the past 3 weeks?
WRs had big games in 2 of them
We need a TE to move the chains, when Hill and Waddle are covered
Since the Clev game opposing LBs have been getting depth and taking away a lot of our deeper passes, instead of bringing Hill and Waddle up on shorter routes, we need a TE to fill in underneath
The problem isn’t that our TE is covered Steve, the problem is he falls down a yard after catching the ball or drops a critical 4th down conversion
If you want a safety valve TE, we just have the wrong guy playing that position now
Steve all I can think of when you say John Lovett, is John Lovitz whom i despise
Same here, Manitoba! 😀
The kind of TE we need you draft and give time to develop a little
Its a day 2 or day 3 pick
He’s just gonna be complimentary on offense
Kielce is a 3rd rounder
Kettle is a 5th
Andrews is a 3rd
Knox is a 3rd rounder
There’s been 1 TE drafted in the 1st in the last 3 years and that’s Kyle Pitts who was an exceptional talent and kinda like a wr
The nfl doesn’t value the position that much lately
We aren’t going to have to spend on a TE, who’s gonna be a 3rd option at best behind hill and waddle
We need a guy who will be ready to block as a rookie and works his way into the passing game
That’s a day 2 or day 3 pick
Interesting regarding the top-TEs draft status in the game today… and true.
Albeit ya butchered almost all of their names! LOL 😉

Difficult decisions ahead.
Unfortunately most decisions will be out of our hands mostly UFAs
RB Room. Could be empty
Just me, but I’d bring back Mostert and Wilson. Once our O-Line FINALLY gains cohesiveness, they could be incredible. JMO
1000%
Then get us a 3rd-down/goal line/grinding/rotational back to wear down an opposing Defense.
If our O-Line clicks, it could be an UDFA.
Dammit, I don’t mean to dwell on the past… but had Iggy panned out for us, there’s no telling how high we could be flying right now. AND… I think the jury’s still out on Austin Jackson.
Not to mention Eich (cue the Hulkster!)…
There are 2 TE’s we should draft in the 3rd and they both are named Luke.
Luke Musgrave 6’6 250 from Oregon State. Great receiver and decent blocker.
Luke Schoonmaker 6’6 250 from Michigan. Great blocking and decent receiver.
IMO TE is a draft luxury pick we can’t make next year. Still need o-line, secondary, LB, or edge over TE. I would even put RB over that.
I can agree with that. Plenty of experienced vets out there.
M13, I really like this guy. Israel Abanikanda 5’11 215 from Pitt. He’s got powers but also has like a sneaky acceleration you don’t expect.
This was his 320 yard 6 TD performance vs VT.
No telling what we need to draft with all of those FAs we have
This has been an unexpectedly entertaining game.
Sigh, I really don’t like all these stoppages inside two minutes to see if he was out of bounds or not.
WR costs his team a chance to tie it because he lined up wrong on a run play. What an idiot.
I don’t know about the comment but I just can’t get enough of seeing this
That’s what I meant when I said we’re built to win now. There’s going to be a lot of turnover on the roster, we have no cap space, and we ain’t got no draft picks neither. Although I did see Byron Jones on the payroll next season, no shot he’s back, so that will free up some space, but it shows a big dead cap hit for him.
Much less cap hit if it is a designated June 1 cut from what I understand.
2 years ago they said the 2023 NFL cap was going to be over 300m, which would give us plenty of cap space.
2022 FA the Fins acquired lots of talent with cap hits going to future years, seemingly verifying the caps going way up
Everything I’ve read recently says they need to adjust the cap to make up for lost revenue during covid, so not sure if we get a 300m+ in 2023 or later, but it is going up significantly at some point with the new TV deals
I’d say Jones is tied to Boyer, if we keep 1 we keep the other
We’ve all bitched about Boyer, but to be fair he really hasn’t had his key lockdown CBs
Should we really kick him to the curb before we give him a fair shot?
Can we switch sidelines for the GB game and be in sun?
https://www.wfla.com/weather/arctic-airmass-heading-to-tampa-bay-expected-to-bring-chilly-christmas/
I assume they have a plan for 2023 forward to continue to build on what we have. Sure we might have some turnover, maybe we lose a couple guys, add some others, but this idea that if we don’t win a SB this year, we’re screwed, I don’t buy that.
I look at our list of free agents, and I see a lot of middle of the roster and bottom tier guys, and a few starters. Does it kill us to lose a Van Ginkel or Riley? What have either of those guys done that is irreplaceable? I know Riley is out there getting beat in coverage every week, and he is supposed to be a cover guy.
We could let 3/4 of those FAs walk right now and pick up similar guys IMO.
The offense should stay mostly the same, minus one giraffe (wouldn’t be surprised to see our entire TE room turned over except for Smythe), maybe we lose some of the oline but I think Shell and Little likely resign, maybe we lose a 3rd or 4th string WR, but shouldn’t Sanders and Ezy-E be ready next year? And maybe Sherfield/ Craycraft take a little less to stay here, because this is where they can actually look good instead of being lost at the bottom of another team’s roster.
Maybe we turn over the RB room except for either Mostert or Wilson. Or maybe we keep both because neither gets a huge contract because they are both always hurt. Or we let one walk and keep the other.
On defense, our dline will remain intact (we need to pay Ingram), and who cares what kind of turnover there is in the secondary? Could it be worse than this year? We have some young cheap guys coming on and should get a couple guys back. Get Byron Jones out of the building and that probably pays for the secondary guys we want to keep.
At LB, sign Ingram, see what Riley, Roberts, and Van Ginkel get offered.
Same thing for Special Teams, could it be any worse than this year, even with some turnover?
If they built this team to be a one shot at a SB run in 2022 and then we’re done and have to scrap it all and start over, then our entire FO needs to be fired. But I don’t think that is the case at all. I think our core team will easily stay intact.
I agree except for Byron, doubt he goes anywhere, his dead money is close enough to next year’s salary, would be foolish to cut him, unless there’s an uninjury related reason he didn’t play this year
We’d save over 4 million in 2023, which we may need, and we get out of that contract with no more 2024 deadcap if Jones is cut pre 6-1, but looking at the numbers, it wouldn’t kill us to keep him either.
You may be right in that if we keep Boyer, maybe we keep Jones too. If Jones comes back in good shape, we could do a lot worse than Jones, Howard, Kohou, and maybe Needham (if we resign him).
But the way this has played out, I figure both side are done with each other.
I hate the word save used like this, deferred is a better word
Reminds me of a salesman, that called me to refinance my home
I can save you $200 off of your monthly payment, even though it costs more longterm
If we need 4m we can restructure someone’s contract
Sorry, I know what you mean, but in this case that is incorrect.
It’s actually saving a minimum of 14 million on what we pay out to him, not deferring.
Cut him pre 6-1: He’s a 14 million dead cap hit in 2023 and that is it. We pay him no more.
Keep him in 2023: we pay him 18 million in 2023, AND then either have to pay him another 18 mil in 2024, or cut him in 2024 and he’s an additional 10 mil dead cap hit. That is a total of 28-36 million, quite a bit less than 14 million.
Cutting him is saving total $$$ in 2023 and 2024, not deferring in any way.
Even cutting him post 6-1 is saving money. He’s still only a 14 mil hit instead of 28-36 mil, we just move 10 mil to 2024.
lol, **quite a bit more than 14 million (obviously)

Dotson last night had a great game for Redskins, was ever wrong on him
Brutal 3 week road trip is over, thank God. I felt we were beat, but we also beat ourselves on the WC. We got back to playing how we can on Saturday. We’re not there yet, that’s plain for all to see, and it will be interesting to see how CG shape-shifts this roster from yr. 1 to yr. 2 for his new HC. That’s not for the now though.
For the rest of this season, I’m just going to see where the ride takes us. We can score quickly and be physical up front on D. We nearly stood toe to toe with the #1 AFC seed and won on their manor. I hope we dish out a few more bloody noses and broken hearts before our season is over. Will we raise the Lombardi? No. Have we improved, become relevant and are in the conversation. Hell yeah.
Very few teams if any go from diabolical to the top, with no incremental steps in-between. I think we’ve taken the penultimate step this year. The question is, can we find what we need to get us over the top before it’s too late. Time will tell. You can’t be a Dolfan without patience in spades.
Merry Christmas. 😉
