After a thrilling playoff game, unfortunately a loss for our Miami Dolphins, the team and front office have officially entered the offseason, and changes have already been made, and rumors will swirl regarding coaching hires and possible departures, and of course player signings and leavings. It didn’t take the front office long to make one big change, they fired our defensive coordinator Josh Boyer, and also let go safeties coach Steve Gregory, outside linebackers coach Ty McKenzie, and also assistant linebackers coach Steve Frentz.
The playoff loss. It was a crazy game, our offense never really got on track, but the defense played well enough to win most games, just not that one. Mike McDaniel looked like a rookie Head Coach in his first playoff game. He struggled all game getting plays in quick enough to avoid penalties, and there were some bad ones during the game. It wasn’t just penalties, it was the timeouts we had to waste as well, but the penalties plagued us all season long, and we had 7 for 34 yards in this one. While that doesn’t seem excessive, this is something that has hampered our offense every game, and it’s a particular point that our young Head Coach must improve on next season. It’s understood that a rookie 7th RD pick was running the offense, but back in SFO, Kyle Shanahan has his 7th RD pick QB looking far more prepared. In any case, our defense was so much better than my expectations, with the exception of the last drive of the 1st half when we were tied 17-17, we allowed the Bills to run a 33 second drive from their own 25 yardline to our 22 yardline and take the lead all too easily before the half, 20-17.
With the departure of Josh Boyer, our defense may be getting a facelift. This defense that was predicated on a dominating secondary, one like we had with a healthy Xavien Howard and Byron Jones, and our two premier safeties Brandon Jones and Jevon Holland, struggled without half of those players this season. Add in the loss of Nik Needham who plays everywhere, inside and outside, and the secondary was anything but a strength this season, and our defense’s weakest link. Diminished play due to injuries is expected, however, if the defense counts on great secondary play, the ever present zero blitzes left inferior talent on an island trying to cover other teams best receivers. This was a failure for two reasons, not only did the blitzers not accomplish the task of getting to the QB, but our bevy of pass rush guys like Jaelan Phillips, Melvin Ingram, Emmanuel Ogbah (injured), Bradley Chubb weren’t getting to the QB enough either, which left easy pickings for opposing QB’s. We were bottom 6 in passing yards allowed (3992 yards), bottom 7 in passing TD’s allowed (25 TD’s), and bottom 4 in interceptions with a measly 8 INT’s all season long. CB Xavien Howard had only one INT, despite being thrown at more than any time in his career. Jevon Holland led the team with 2 INT’s, veteran ST’s ace Justin Bethel added 1 INT, scapegoat Noah Igbinoghene had a very important late game INT against the Steelers that sealed a victory for our Dolphins. Kader Kohou and seldom used S Verone McKinley each 1 INT, and LB Andrew Van Ginkel had the last of the 8. The Dolphins defense forced 13 fumble, but only recovered 6 for a total of 14 turnovers. To be fair, we did return 2 fumbles for TD’s during the regular season, and we added another against BUF in the playoff game last week.
Next year, hopefully Brandon Jones will be back at 100%, and he alone makes our secondary much better. He’s a playmaker, great blitzer, and sure tackler in the secondary. I’ll add that I hope DE Emmanuel Ogbah returns 100% as well, we missed his pressures on the QB. Christian Wilkins added another monster year on defense, he was nothing short of excellent this season.Wilkins played 84% of the defensive snaps, all 17 games, just unbelievable at such a demanding position. Wilkins made 98 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 FF’s, 7 QB hits, 6 passes defensed and 1 FR. He’s one of the best DT’s in the game. I love thinking that we’ll have Bradley Chubb and our own young budding star Jaelan Phillips as bookends, but our depth is scarce, with Melvin Ingram, Andrew Van Ginkel, Trey Flowers all not signed for next season. Even as is, there’s a lot of good to build on, but my feeling is our big NT Raekwon Davis isn’t quite good enough as a NT, or interior DT. No passes defensed at 6’7? C’mon! He never gets push up the middle either, which to me is the bigger issue. As good as our ends are and our OLB’s are, time and time again our defenders came around but routinely ran behind the QB who was able to step up and either find a receiver or run free for yardage, due to that weakness. It may be time to grow that NT tree!
The offense with Mike McDaniel, and of course QB Tua Tagovailoa was as dynamic as any Miami Dolphins offense in the last 25 years. We all hope (I think) that Tua is our QB going forward and his concussion issues of this season, and let’s face it, any injuries, are behind him. This will be the first time Tua will have the same offense 2 years in a row, and if he can play 17 games, this offense could be a top NFL unit. I know everyone moans about the O-line, but newcomers like C Connor Williams and LT Terron Armstead were exemplary this season. Armstead obviously battled injury woes, and Connor Williams had high snap issues most of the season, but as a blocker and pass protector, he was aces.and his durability was unmatched, playing every snap this season.A shoutout to T Brandon Shell, who started about 11 more games than he was expected to, and he played remarkably well, a true professional. Oh, by the way, we have no running backs as of now for next season, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed are all unsigned and therefore UFA’s.It’s certainly possible that at least one of the two top guys, Mostert or Wilson can be re-signed, but might be time to draft a RB? Mostert is not necessarily a durable back to count on and Jeff Wilson has been a part time RB for most of his career, not a bellcow guy. RB by committee is a common theme across the NFL, but a major talent at RB can really impact an offense. I know Mostert played in 16 games this season, and Jeff Wilson played 16 games as well, (8 with SFO), but a young talented back, think Breece Hall, can elevate your offense. It would be wonderful to have a running game that opposing defenses had to gameplan for, not just the aerial circus with Hill, Waddle and others. Anyone here a little disappointed we didn’t see Erik Ezukanma? Yeah, he had 1 reception for 3 yards. I thought he’d play a lot more than that.
There’s a lot to be enthusiastic and optimistic for next season, but our DL depth , DT talent (Davis), and CB depth are a concern going forward. Can Xavien Howard return to his 2021 form? Will Byron Jones ever again suit up in a Dolphins uni? My fear is no on both counts, unfortunately. Kader Khou is a promising player, and if Nik Needham and Brandon Jones can come back healthy, that’s a good start. I believe the Noah Igbinoghene experiment is over, and Keion Crossen is better as a depth player. We need CB help. Don’t be surprised if we look for one early in the 2023 draft, not that early though because we have no 1st RD pick (Thanks Steve Ross!!!).If Terron Armstead can play healthy next season, his talent provides something we haven’t had here for too long, an extremely reliable pass protector and excellent run blocker at LT. Who knows what will happen to our 2 young-ish draftees Liam Eichenberg and Austin Jackson? Will either pan out? No need to respond Ken, I know your answer! I think Robert Jones played admirable this season at LG. I still haven’t mentioned TE, which next season will feature Durham Smythe, Cethan Carter, Hunter Long and Tanner Conner. Excited yet? Gesicki is most likely gone, and unless Mike McDaniel thinks if he has one more season with Gesicki, he can turn him into George Kittle, we won’t have a real receiving threat at TE. Well, most of all, we need to see the picture featured in the article for 17 + games next season, or we better have a damn good backup. Will that be Skylar Thompson, or do we dip into the FA QB pool, with someone like Gardner Minshew, Baker Mayfield, I can’t even type his name, but you know it well, Sam Darnold, Case Keenum (M gets wood!), or maybe Andy Dalton or Taylor Heinicke? I have no idea, but will the Dolphins have to be careful not bringing in a QB that will crave to be the starter, or maybe they can do that w/o upsetting Tua? We’ll see. Stay tuned!
Good luck! They taste like shit!
I’ve never been fond of anything that eats meat for some reason?
I could go ‘rated R’ with a joke (LOL), but I’ll refrain!
Actually, same here. And the first thing that comes to mind is shark. I think shark tastes awful.
Now fish is different! they are all cannibals’!
Shark is very good! Don’t keep it if it’s over 4′ (I usually do 3′)
And blacken or grill it with Cajun seasoning! to die for
Other than shark (Mako… man-eater), I don’t believe I’ve ever (knowingly!) eaten a carnivore, now that I think about it.
Hulkster,
It’s not lost on me how much you and I love our cats… and for me, that includes the big cats as well. I’ve always wanted a pet jaguar (<— foolish!!!), but I've grown wiser to that idea, thankfully.
Yeah, I hate to see it as well and hope there's a better way in the future to prevent such happenings. But until then, this mountain lion was imposing danger on a whole community… and their little cats to boot.
Keep your cats inside. That is a requirement for adoption at the shelter I volunteer at
Yup! I don’t want to ever see a cat go out like the last one did (ran over by a truck 😦 ).
Anybody here remember Carlito from Golfito (<-?) back on the SS blogs? He suggested I get an Ocelot if I wanted a wild cat.
That’s something that always stuck with me… I don’t know how I remember some of the stuff I remember.
Rats are found in nearly all areas of Earth which are inhabited by human beings.
Lol….I wonder what they have in common?
Bubonic plague
I don’t trophy hunt. Only hunt what I want ro eat. I’m with Wyo on eating carnivores…yech. But when an apex predator loses its fear of humans, there’s only one solution. Cat that big could take down a full grown human, no problem.
Well he has all off season to rest.
We keep hearing stuff like, once recovered a player isn’t any more at risk for the next concussion. That may be true who knows
Then we heard, if you have 3 concussions in a relatively short period of time the brain needs extended rest
If all of that is true, when does CTE come into play?
I haven’t heard yet, but I believe CTE starts to come into play, when the above aren’t followed
I’m no doctor, but think it’s logical, assuming the league has its protocol setup to stop CTE, that following short term concussion protocol and the 3 concussion rule the player won’t get CTE
The Bills OC has had 6 concussions and has passed protocol and has not shown signs of CTE
My point about the Mountain Lion was to bring it somewhere else like hundreds of miles away in a very rural area, not the next town. Or what about a sanctuary? That’s better than being dead.
Phish, I don’t live in the city and I don’t kill anything.
Mountain lions often have home ranges of over 500 square miles. Hard to find a place that big that doesn’t touch on humans. And once he’s learned that humans=easy food source, that’s where he is going to hunt. To say nothing about relocated predators finding their way back. Just a month or so ago there was a relocated bear that travelled across 4 states and over 1,000 miles back to where he was originally moved from. And I disagree about a sanctuary. He is a wild animal and your talking about putting him in prison for life. Cruel.
Unless you are a vegan and haven’t said so, you do kill for food. Just not directly.
Fair enough, I have heard of animals traveling back to where they came from. But a sanctuary isn’t like a little cage. They can roam and live. I’d say it’s still better than dead. Many animals in sanctuaries were animals that were injured and could not survive in the wild. In this case, this animal was a target by humans just trying to survive.
As for not killing anything, I’m not talking about the food I eat which I know we killed the animal. I’m saying I don’t kill rats, squirrels, raccoons or whatever I might deem a pest. I know people that do that. They shoot them with a .22.
That place doesn’t exist anymore.
We’re like fuckin ants! everywhere!!!!!!!
Or, as Krishna implied, rats.
That’s true too.
Thanks M!
Have Mako sharks been known to attack humans? They’re a deep sea shark and don’t come to shorelines. I’ve never hear of Mako shark attacks on humans.
Yes, Makos have been known to attack humans.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/worlds-fastest-shark-mauls-diver-28916840
Okay when you’re spear fishing 70 miles out anything can happen in the ocean. Your playing in their environment. Just like people swimming in the surf. It’s the friggin ocean. But Mako’s don’t cruise the shorelines where most people are bathing.
I looked it up; ISAF statistics records 9 shortfin attacks on humans between 1580 and 2022, three of which were fatal, along with 20 boat attacks. This mako is regularly blamed for attacks on humans and, due to its speed, power, and size, it is certainly capable of injuring and killing people.
So it’s extremely rare that humans will be attacked by Mako sharks unless you put yourself in that situation. So many other types of sharks are the usual culprits.
I agree. So the mountain lion was playing in the human’s environment. Same same. We are the ultimate apex predator. To quote Emerson, “When you strike at a king, you must kill him.”
Wonder who else we hear about. Quite a few guys kept playing banged up. Also, what is up with Davis’ knee. It has plagued him the last 2 seasons. I think that has alot to do with him not getting better on the DL.
Yeah he may have a chronic issue with his knee and his career may not be very long. He’s a giant of a man and that can be tough on the knees.
That’s a good hire form them.
where was the rooney rule interview?
I thought the Rooney rule was only applied to head coaches?
I think they expanded it to other coaching jobs. They did interview other candidates for OC including minority candidates but everyone knew they wanted Bill O’Brien.
I don’t think it’s assistants, I think it’s head coaches and executive (GMs) positions
Interesting and it touches on our science discussion.
A new University of Florida study in the Nov. 14 issue of Palaeontology concludes modern white sharks descended from mako sharks rather than megatooth sharks as originally believed based on a well-preserved 4.5-million-year-old fossil.Nov 4, 2012
Thinking about this you can see with the Mako it’s smaller and faster with really nasty ragged teeth so they can catch fast fish like Bonitos and Tuna and basically hook them. The Great White evolved to eat bigger and slower prey, so their teeth adapted to that. Both sharks are similar in shape and share many characteristics because they are related.
I have eaten Mako shark but didn’t find it to be anything special that I would make or order that over another type of fish that I like.
I believe Florida changed their bag limit on Mako’s and you are no longer allowed to keep one.
My fav to keep is a Blacktip. There is no size limit so (like Wyoming) I like to keep one in the 3 foot range. You have to be careful that you don’t confuse a Blacktip with a Spinner shark. They are very similar and fight the same, but a Spinner shark has a minimum 54″ fork length. The only difference I know of is that the anal fin of the Blacktip is not black tipped, but on the Spinner shark the anal fin is black tipped.
Is the Spinner a lot of mercury and ammonia? Neighbors down the shore caught small sharks and were making deep fried shark bytes that were delicious. But some had too much ammonia and you couldn’t eat those.
The ammonia come from shark species that lack a urinary tract. They express urine through their flesh, hence the ammonia.
I was going to go Sheepshead fishing in Pensacola Bay today, but the wind is not cooperating. I still have 2 hours to decide before the major bite starts. I think Sheepshead are a really underrated fish. I love them.
I guess it would help if I checked with my guy and see if he has fiddler crabs available. I catch them on live shrimp also but you have to weed through all the trash fish before you hook one. I hate burning through a dozen live shrimp to catch 1 good fish.
I fished for Sheepshead growing up. Very tasty fish. Pompano is another favorite.
https://phinphanatic.com/2023/01/24/tua-tagovailoa-lacks-important-ability-availability/
Decent article even if pushing for Brady is shortsighted and kinda stupid. Dude is 45. Tua is our QB next year, but his durability will play the primary role in his future contracts. I just don’t think he’s durable enough honestly. Hope he proves the doubters wrong.
The way I look at this season it was the two concussions that kept him out of games. He didn’t have other injuries that kept him from playing. We can’t keep using that hip injury at Alabama as the evidence. Lots of players suffer serious injuries that don’t keep happening.
The fractured ribs injury he suffered 2 years ago was because he was planted into the ground on a blind-side sack. He’s not the only QB to suffer that kind of injury. Not that it would have prevented the injury but that should have been a roughing the passer call as the defender put all his weight on him into the ground. It was A. J. Epenesa.
I will say that some of this is on Tua though. Sometimes just tuck the ball – go into a ball and take the sack. These concussions have happened when he’s still trying to get rid of it and his body is in an awkward position where he has no control over how he lands. Live for the next play. That one play is not as important as you missing multiple games or the season.
The idea of replacing Tua with an aging vet like Brady or Rogers is ridiculous – plain and simple
If you are going to replace Tua – you draft a QB
You don’t get a guy at the end of his career on the way out
The franchise gets nothing out of a short term rental. I can’t imagine how bad the Bucs are about to be bc of their decision to bring Brady in to begin with – and I don’t personally want to trade places and make the bargain they made, but at least in their case, it made more sense 3 years ago
Most of us have been following this team for 20, 30, 40 years or more
We will follow for decades longer if we can
If the Dolphins rent a potential Super Bowl appearance in 2023
I don’t want to miserable again by 2024
The team needs a foundation
Not a band aid like an aging vet on his way out of the nfl door
And foundations need to be built
We are trying to build a foundation
We made the playoffs this year
You bring in a Brady or Rogers and it’s Super Bowl champ or bust right away
Not building a competitive team
It’s a good story for writers to run with
It’s not a good future for fans
Ross is dumb enough to fall for fools gold like this – So I worry
But I believe McDaniel and Grier will try to talk him off this road
Tua’s health concerns certainly make putting faith in him risky – that’s undeniable
But I take that risk
And when I’m ready to to take that risk; I draft a new risk
Which is exactly what it is – there are no sure things at QB
But please, for the love of all things pork, don’t bring in a has been like Brady
If those guys aren’t done in September 2023, they might be done by December 2023
For Oinks sake Brady gave up his family to lose in the first round of the playoffs – if we trust a 45 year old to say he has one more year on him bc he has too much ego to hang it up – we deserve another decade of missing the postseason
I’m 49 years old – I can’t even stand up without my knees screaming at me and I don’t have 250 pound LBs smashing into me in court – why on earth a 45 year old, who is a sure thing to be first ballot HOF would put his body through what Brady is doing is absurd – but he’s not thinking straight
On the other hand, the franchise can make the reasonable decision despite Brady’s ego controlling his fate
So don’t do it!
Good rant pigster.
HMMMMM
The game really comes down to turnovers and 3rd down execution on both sides of the ball. The teams that win in those areas usually win the game. A good QB helps with that though. When were were winning a lot of games early we were killing it on 3rd down and not turning it over.
Another thing about Tua is he’s still only 24 years old with now 3 NFL seasons under his belt. He has to mature and learn to survive in this league especially for an undersized QB. He needs to play smarter and safer. That should come with maturity. I’m pretty sure MM will pound that into his head along with Bevell. Just not too hard. LOL
They love Tua
I don’t think they are paying the Brady narrative
Desperate writers are pushing that
Wow that ended up being a longer oinking rant than I wanted it to be…lol
I agreed with everything you said. 🙂
MM is in his 2nd year as HC. We made the playoffs his first year through a lot of turmoil. This team as currently structured is not his ultimate vision.
We’re going to see a significant transition in personnel this year. Happens all the time with a 2nd year HC. We’re already seeing some coaching changes.
This teams needs some better starters in a few areas and better depth. I don’t think we’re that far off of being even better than we were when we were 8-3. We need more system fits.
We can be competitive in 2023 and 2024
If Tua is not healthy we have a massive let down to digest. And that might happen so we should all be ready for it
But if he can be healthy and we give that up to play musical chairs at QB – some one will have to restrain me to stop me from committing hair-kari
I love Saquon
But I think this would be silly
Wouldn’t it be Ross like to acquire Brady and Saquon Barkley just for the sake of making a splash
I was never big on criticizing Ross here, mostly bc a it’s pointless
But after last offseason – I don’t think anything is beneath him
Can’t believe I spelled Saquon right
Fucking Sun Sentinel with a headline “Lamar Jackson should still be an option for the Miami Dolphins”
NO! DICKHEAD! He IS NOT and SOULD NOT BE regardless of the clicks you pray you get for posting trash.
I am so glad their paywall saves me the brain damage of reading their dreck.
Imagine if the Dolphins replace Tua bc he has injury concerns with a QB who missed significant time and a playoff game with an injury…
It’s so dumb that it makes you wonder if you’re human. LOL
Tis the season to be an ass monkey on Twitter
Don’t fall for it
Piggy, we all know the deal with Tua and what needs to happen. We’re talking about the highest rated passer this season, #1 3rd down and redzone and top 10 in many other categories. You don’t move on from a young QB like that if he’s good to go.
We need to keep building around him. We have the two big weapons in Hill and Waddle. Improve the OL and running game and we’re going to be tough to stop.
The defense has a core group to build on as well.
I would love to see a 4 man front in nickel/dime with Phillips, Wilkins, Ogbah and Chubb. Sieler and Davis when needed. That’s a formidable defensive front. Phillips has the ability to be really special. His size, strength and speed is rare. You can see him getting better at the finer points of the game. He could become our T.J. Watt. Chubb can do that too. If both of them do it at the same time that will be an absolute terror.
There are lots to look forward to with this team in 2023.
I agree
I’ve been on the “no major changes” train since the height of the losing streak
It doesn’t really make sense – we are on the cusp, and yes a lot can go south and a lot went south on 2022 – but if you start all over a lot can
go south too
and worst of all,
We have to get to the same place before it goes south again..lol
Too many injuries can derail teams. But sometimes if you’re deep enough you can still hang in there. No team in the final 4 is 100%.
We are not signing Brady or Lamar Jackson. Talking heads just talking because there is nothing else to talk about right now
Brady looked washed up. Jackson has durability issues and might lose out on a big payday similar to what Le’Veon Bell did. You prolong taking the money and it blows up in your face. Recent reports are that Lamar turned down $133M guaranteed from the Ravens. He wasn’t there for his team down the stretch and in the playoffs. So what… now you give him over $200M guaranteed? Makes no sense.
I think they should make Tua watch a film cut up of brady falling down every time a defender looked at him mean. That’s how you are playing QB at 45.
Lol
Darrell Bevell turned down OC job interviews to stay with the Phins as QB coach and passing game coordinator. Maybe he wants to see a Tua lead offense reach the promise land. He likes what they’re building. Let’s not act as if our team is this old vet team with a limited window. That’s not true. Most of our team is made up of prime age and young players developing. The cap can always be manipulated down the road when you feel the iron is hot and you have to try to win now. Not just one season but 1-3 years.
2020 – 10-6
2021 – 9-8
2022 – 9-8
Not great but playoffs this year – build on that.
I read the article
And it’s not really bills fans posting excuses
It’s some national correspondents pointing out why Bills might be struggling and some sarcastic posts like Barry McCockiner who is 5 star level trolling Twitter
Example
They cited him in the article
I kind of think the Daily Mail is a joke
Bills fans are bad with excuses but they aren’t that bad
If you want to see what I mean
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nfl/article-11664627/Bengals-slammed-NFL-Twitter-defeating-Bills-white-uniforms-heavy-snowfall.html
If fairness “Barry” gets a lot of people
They actually acknowledged it was a parody account in the article after quoting him….which is next level troll on troll click bait material
The Bengals should have worn all white and black striped unis….lol
Lol…I don’t get it
It’s probably better that way, bud. I don’t think it serves a noble purpose to get the world all paranoid anyway. Cooler heads prevail.
But don’t get me wrong, hell is at our heels to be sure.
I DO find it laughable how the ‘Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ use a clock to designate the time from Doomsday/Armageddon when they don’t understand the astronomical clock via historical evidence.
These people are political witches trying to influence political outcomes when they don’t understand the historical clock via failed policies over the millennia.
Even a broken clock is
right twice a day… BROKEN.Not to be political or religious or philosophical or conspiratorial, but fear of “the end” has been a “hook” for control throughout millennia on this planet.
It has no bearing on my thought process except for brief amusement. Or, maybe, I just don’t care….lol
What I do care about, is getting a top 10 D with better coaching and building on our nucleus of talent on that side of the ball.
Case in point, the O this year was miles ahead of where it’s been over the last, let’s say, 20 years. There were so many WTFs and wheelbarrow moments, unlike anything I’ve seen for a long time. Coaching and few perfect pieces made that happen.
I’d like to see the D take a similar leap forward to a top 10.
And, D is being talked about AGAIN as the formula to winning champioships this week. Same ol same ol….lol
Maybe today??????
Fangio is the target. Heard it thru the grapevine during the Jets’ game.
You have been holding that one back
Nah…I posted it during the Jets game. Although as much as I drank that day maybe it wasn’t clear.
From Tim
So what… now you give him (Lamar) over $200M guaranteed? Makes no sense.
Yes, it makes no sense, but Ravens will still do it, just like Clev with Watson
$20 it is not Fangio. I think they roll with Campanile. Fangio is too “old”
What I heard is they wanted someone with head coaching experience to balance the scales.
We talk about wanting a top 10 O or D, what I want is a D, that can control the line and an O, that can do the same
Once you can do that on a more regular basis, then your opponent has to use more players to compensate
Then the fun starts, it’s how we won in 70s, and how Cin dominated Buff
The problem with Flores’ D was it was DB heavy, a position that is handicapped by rules
And a reason I wanted Boyer gone
Just in case you thought about buying Fireball minis in a gas station

Fangio is a tough guy, that’s what we need, even for 1 year, we need to change the culture
Dan Campbell running the Oklahoma drill changed our culture, we need to get back to that
Kong, is that you? Nobody seems to be able to see you there.
LOL
I’ve heard of not being able to see the forest for the trees. I guess this is being unable to see the Kong for the mountains…
Gotta admit, it even took me a few minutes before I was able to find myself 😁
Notice what?
Why are you calling Kong boobs?
Fangio will only be 65 years old this season. I don’t think he’s too old to coach.
I think there are a lot of coaches in the league around that age
And it’s nice to have a senior veteran coach with our young inexperienced coach
Maybe he can help out with getting a play in before expiration of the play clock on 4th and inches
I don’t think he is too old to coach. I just think he is too old to coach for McDaniel.
Well they’re interviewing him.
First question: what is your favorite vape flavor?

I think we all know that it’s a common belief that women develop faster than men do. As additional proof, I present this little gem. Women typically develop breasts in their early to mid teens while men don’t usually develop breasts until their mid 40’s.

https://www.thephinsider.com/2023/1/25/23570674/sean-desai-vic-fangio-to-interview-for-miami-dolphins-defensive-coordinator-job-wednesday
While both men are highly regarded in NFL circles, it is Vic Fangio who apparently has a “really good” relationship with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, according to Jeff Darlington of ESPN. In a tweet sent out Wednesday morning, Darlington reported that Fangio could have had Miami’s defensive coordinator position last year, but now that he has a lot of interest from other teams, it will remain to be seen if McDaniel can close the deal and get his man to Miami.
Interesting… we’re not projected to get any compensatory picks. However, through our acquisitions of Connor Williams, Ced Wilson, Chase Edmonds, and Keion Crossen, those teams are getting comp picks. We were certainly net buyers last season.
Nothing final, just someone’s guess, but I agree we got some good FAs
I don’t agree on Cedric, we should get the pick😉
LOL, I’m with ya on Cedric… we SHOULD get the pick! 😉
Yeah but didn’t we lose Jesse Davis to free agency? 😉
We sure could have used an extra pick though. I didn’t expect us to get any comp picks. Maybe next year.
I think we all know what our #1 run was this past season, right?!!
Man, those were our best runds? We need a running game bad! Not a bad running game! #1 definitely the best of the ones shown.
I personally attribute our running game woes — though it wasn’t bad, just underutilized — to our O-Line learning a new system (outside ZBS). Year 2 could be very good for us, man.
I’d bring back both Mostert and Jeff Wilson.
Mostert had 4.9 YPC while Wilson had 4.7 YPC for US (5.1 YPC for the 49ers).
Wyoming, I’ll take that draft. Musgrave is a good receiving TE. He is in the top 5, but
will need to learn how to block much better. He didn’t line up inline much.
I’m extraordinarily upset that we don’t have a 1st rounder this coming Draft class. What’s more, I’m tired of Steve Ross constantly screwing this team up.
Did this just happen? 😉
LOL 😀
Nah, but it CONTINUES! Losing our 1st round Draft pick restoked the negative fire I have had for Ross!
He was really pretty good over the last 4-5 years, keeping his pie hole shut and allowing football to be conducted by football pros. But after he tampered with Tom Brady and Sean Payton, it all came back to me.
No doubt he really fucked up with that move.
He’s Captain Ahab, man.
I really don’t focus much on him because there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

LOL, I just Steve Ross would support the team instead of shooting holes in our team.
*I just wish
What difference does it make? MM would sit him on bench anyways
I thought this was really creative on a lot of levels.
Dude, just saw this. Super creative. I was going to post it Friday. lol
I checked out a few of his others also. Interesting artist.
That was absolutely AMAZING!!! I dig it, man!!!
He honestly sounds like a cross between Eminem and Pennywise as he raps.
*Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King’s “IT”.
The LATEST version of “IT”, not the OG with Tim Curry, mind you.
It’s like punk rock with that cockney accent mixed with rap and classical music. But it also has the feel of poet performances. Very impressive.
^
Whoever we hire as DC I’m going to root for and hope for the best but I think Vic Fangio is the guy we need. He always builds a competitive defense, he’s seen everything and he’s got the ready made talent to play his 3-4 scheme on our roster. It really is the perfect fit at the right time. Ross needs to pay him one less dollar than McDaniel. LOL
This is interesting. “Fangio runs a variation of a 4-3 called a 6-1 tilt.”

Some more about this.

65 is not too fucking old! It’s 6 years older than me. WTF!!!
Yeah, only 26 years older than McDaniel…who would be his boss.
Kid could use a little mature guidance!
Fangio knows he’s only get a job in the nfl as a DC
He knows his role
It doesn’t matter if the HC is younger or not
Besides McDaniel was pretty hands off Boyer – he‘LL probably let Fangio do whatever he wants with the Defense
https://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/2023/01/26/keion-crossen-torn-labrum/
The anti Byron Jones
Shoulder or Hip?
The article doesn’t say
I had a torn labrum in my hip – it’s no fun
It’s harder to walk than to run
Annoying injury
Shoulder
Much better
There are other coaches on the staff older than McDaniel. Asst. HC/TE coach John Embree is 57.
I’m actually too old to look at everyone’s age
It’s depressing of they are younger
Age is not the issue. It will be money and availability of other potential HC jobs that are the issue
I haven’t heard Fangio is a candidate for HC jobs. I think he’s interviewing for DC jobs.
So far that seems to be the case but I suspect he harbors some ambition to be an HC again. I think he did a credible job as the HC in Denver despite having very limited talent on offense
Yeah he didn’t have a QB either.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35531136
Jets hire Hackett as OC
Well after what he did with that Broncos offense lead by Russell Wilson this season, he’s a no-brainer. LOL
I think it’s great. I also think it means they want Rodgers
That’s been the rumor. 2 1st round picks is the likely price.
I was going to comment about Rogers being too old to require 2 first round picks to get, but he is only 39. (which IS old for a football player, but not necessarily a QB with Brady at 45) Maybe they DO go for it.
Joe Namath was on the radio the other days saying he’d be cool with bringing his #12 out of retirement for Rodgers or Brady.
Joe Namath is still groping Suzy Kolber
Rock is an age kick. The Rock of Ages
YUP, call me silly but I am not trading for a 40 YO QB. Don’t care what his name is.
That being said, I hope they DO bring in Favre 2.0.
First he is too old to coach now someone else is too old to play. You are like the age police. It’s Logan’s Run lol
NOPE I never said he is too old to play. Just too old to give up two first round picks to acquire. Especially with HIS attitude the past few years.
Lots of props to Keion Crossen playing with a torn labrum all season. He’s not a starter level corner but he plays really fast both on defense and STs.
He is a nice role player to have
Agreed.
Joe Philbin out of a job
Good hire. He’s a good coach things just came apart in Indy mainly at QB.
Strangely enough, their O-Line also fell apart.
Yeah the OL had injuries and the defense took a step back. They had their run where it looked like they could get to a Championship game or a Super Bowl but they fell short and it came apart.
Did we hire Fangio yet?
I hope we do.
Same here. And in the event we can’t land Fangio, I’d be good with his ‘disciple’ in Sean Desai.
Some times you just don’t know enough about these young coaches. I remember when Phins fans were not fans of Zac Taylor being Tannehill’s QB coach when Mike Sherman (his father-in-law) was our OC under Philbin. Now he’s the HC of the Bengals and coaching his team to a 2nd straight championship game.
Yup, and I was one who was never a fan of Zac Taylor. Conversely, I’ve always been a big fan of Lou Anarumo… wish we still had him.
This could be an issue.
https://thespun.com/nfl/nfc-east/philadelphia-eagles/eagles-could-reportedly-make-run-at-former-nfl-head-coach
Definitely could be a problem.
Rockphin:

I KNOW THAT GUY!
😆
I did not know that. I have gained knowledge
That’s what makes it funny. It’s simply Tim. LOL
Did anybody else hear of the speculation that it was not Demar Hamlin at the Bills game this past weekend? Some feel it was a body double to give the Bills an advantage with his feel-good story.
And those who label it a ‘conspiracy theory’ (<– LOL, my favorite term nowadays!) are trying to suggest that those who doubt it was Hamlin are suggesting he's dead. LMAO!
I've heard LOTS of speculation on this, but I've never once heard somebody suggest that Hamlin's dead… only those who love to loosely throw around the term 'conspiracy theory' when it doesn't fit their own narrow narrative.
That’s very silly.
Yup! ALL of it, on both sides.
It was fueled by the fact that every photo of him has his hood up and you can’t see his face. That said it’s all nonsense
Probably didn’t want to be the center of attention.
For the conspiracy theorists
I do not remember this song growing up… just discovered it. I LOVE it!!! I also love playing in this chord, which I do often: very dramatic and lovely.
Phoebe Cates – Paradise (Discoring ’82)
I should have said I love playing in this key. It’s the strings (chords) that get me on this song: it’s BEAUTIFUL!
I had no idea that Phoebe Cates also sang. I just remember her from Gremlins and Fast Times at Ridgemont high paused at 53 minutes and 5 seconds…
LMAO @ “paused at 53 minutes and 5 seconds”!!!
😆
Doesn’t anyone fucking knock anymore?
Lol
I was watching This video waiting for a pool scene the entire song….
she was the ONLY reason I ever watched Gremlins.
Gizmo has a bottomless scene too
Have you guys seen the current controversy about how Chris Collinsworth called the KC v Jax game
Just for context – this is real and is not dubbed
We should all be able to relate to this after hearing Tony Romo stop short of giving Josh Allen a back rub in our Dolphins last game
It’s pretty funny
And worth a read
Most of the time I hate Twitter
But this made me re-evaluate
https://firstsportz.com/nfl-news-twitter-accuses-cris-collinsworth-of-bias-after-he-lauds-patrick-mahomes-unnecessarily-by-sidelining-trevor-lawrence/
LOL
AHHHHH!! I cannot unsee the dude with the water bottle! LOL
Not related to anything, but I went down a rabbit hole on youtube and wound up watching this entire 28 minute vid on what this music nerd (his description not mine) thinks was the way Jimmy Paige played When The Levee Breaks. I was amazed at the nuance.
That was pretty cool. I’m not a guitar player but I like hearing it explained by some one knows
That was cool but man he went through some great lengths to figure it out. Page definitely layers guitars and uses overdubs. I don’t really know but I don’t think he’s using a 12 string. I think he’s playing the Danelectro guitar that has a bright type sound for the slide playing.

My ear is not nearly good enough to shed the base, harmonica and drums to pick out the detail, but Paige was known to play the 12 string on many songs and later in their touring had a double neck 12 /6 he played on stage.
Who are you guys hoping we get as backup QB? Very important position sitting behind Tua because more than likely he is going to play.
I am going with the following;
1. Gardner Minshew
2. Derek Carr (ONLY if he is released, not going to trade)
3. Case Keenum
I would be okay with those but I think Carr goes somewhere as a starter.
^
After that, I might look at
Taylor Heinicke
Cooper Rush
Jarrett Stidham
1. Jimmy G
2. Geno Smith
3. Taylor Heinicke
4. Baker Mayfield
I’m not sure it won’t be Skylar.
3rd string
He was disappointing. We had any level of average QB play in the playoffs and we beat Buffalo
He was also a rookie. I’m not saying it will be him but I wouldn’t be surprised if they feel he can develop into a solid backup.
18 for 45. We must get an upgrade at backup QB
Rock, he could have played a 12 string on the song, but it wasn’t the double neck. He didn’t get that until after the album was recorded. He got it for live performances to play Stairway to Heaven. He then used it to play The Song Remains the Same and The Rain Song live. But like I said he used multiple guitar tracks on many recordings so he might have used 2 or 3 different guitars and as many as 4 tracks to create that sound. They called it Jimmy’s guitar army.
I did some research. Page did use the Danelectro guitar for the slide parts. But now thinking about what the guy in the video said breaking it down about the 12 string, I do think it was a 12 string on the main rhythm parts.
NEW BLOG UP!!!!
