This was music to my ears, music I desperately wanted to hear. This fan is simply disgusted by all the negativity, the naysayers, know-it-all-neurosurgeon-fanboys from other teams, and really all the talking heads who were in lockstep with the fanboys. The Miami Dolphins basically just said STFU!!! Tua is our QB, in 2023, and at least through 2024 as well. Unless the Dolphins had information that Tua’s next big hit would be his last, and the man would need to retire, then this was the right thing to do. Tua is a winner, and if we had him the whole season, we could have been the #2 or #3 seed in the AFC. We might have had a BYE in the playoffs or played at home, with Tua starting. It didn’t happen, and it appears the Dolphins were very cautious with their young QB and perhaps a tad overprotective, but that was a move made for the future.
There is so much hate for this kid, yes, especially from our own Dolphins fanbase. For those people, Tua is too much of a risk, or to the extremists, not talented enough to win. To those imbeciles, I present Exhibit A. Tua’s record as the QB of the Miami Dolphins, 21-13. You’d have to go back as far as Chad Pennington in 2008 to find a more favorable W/L record. Unfortunately, Chad Pennington, 11-5 only made it one season before retiring. Knucklehead Dolphins fans will say “Tua had the best WR’s in the NFL, that’s why!”. OK, so he was 8-5 this season with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. What about 2021, when it was Jaylen Waddle, a hobbled DeVante Parker for 10 games, Mack Hollins, Isaiah Ford, with the backfield of Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, Phillip Lindsay for 4 games, and Malcolm Brown. In 2020, it was a hobbled DeVante Parker for 14 games, Mack Hollins, Lynn Bowden Jr., Jakeem Grant etc. 21-13, not earthshaking, but it’s good for a .617 winning %, better than all but Chad Pennington, who did it for one season 14 years ago. Yet, some Dolphins fans will still sling arrows at Tua. Ridiculous!
Let’s take a different angle. Tua is a team player, a genuinely nice kid. He works as hard as anyone on the team, his HC Mike McDaniel loves him. Yes, we know that former Head Coach Brian Flores did not like Tua, but where the F is Brian Flores now, he with his nonsensical lawsuit against the NFL? Is he a Head Coach now? No! What Head Coach sabotages his own team because he doesn’t like the starting QB? Brian Flores. Flores pulled Tua out of games he struggled in, and that kind of tact shows a lack of confidence in a player, and in turn, stunts his development. Players need to play through adversity, but Flores didn’t allow Tua to grow. Despite Brian Flores, Tua grew anyway, and now with the confidence of his new HC, and the 3rd different offensive system, he flourished. 2023 will be the first time in Tua’s career that he will have the same offensive system in place to build upon.
People will mock Tua because of his injury history. People will laugh that he’s taking Jiu-Jitsu to learn how to protect his body when he’s hit and falls. Some people think that’s comical, that he’s a 25 year old man that should know to fall. How people can hate a person that is doing everything he can to be better at his craft, one that will work relentlessly to do so is beyond me. Personally, I feel bad for his detractors, I think they’re a sad bunch. Not since Dan Marino have we had a successful QB for more than one season. Tua was NUMBER ONE in QB passer rating last season (105.5). The QBR is the most comprehensive metric for a QB and Tua was the best! Better than Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, Allen, ALL OF THEM! NUMBER ONE in yards per attempt (8.7). NUMBER ONE in yards per completion (13.1). There are 3 other categories that Tua was tops in, yet people still hate. It’s a ridiculous phenomenon that I believe only social media could breed.
I look forward to a great 2023 season with our Miami Dolphins. We’ve cleared lots of cap space, to the tune of $28M +, and will get an additional boost when we cut Byron Jones June 1st, to put us over $40M. We have a lot of guys I’d like to re-sign, this will enable that to happen. Elandon Roberts, Nik Needham, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Brandon Shell and possibly even AVG, although I think he’s going to be playing elsewhere. There will likely be a surprise signing as well, but hopefully we’ll fill our roster out well in free agency and then the draft, and then again in free agency after the draft. Our team is close, on the cusp of being a legit playoff contender and more.
GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I do like RB Chase Brown, 5’9.5 209 from Illinois as a late round pick. He ran a 4.43 at the combine so he has some quicks to him and some decent receiving skills. He may not last until the 6th round when we pick but some sites don’t have him in their top 200 so he could be there.
Wow! Hope he has something left in the tank.
He’s only been in the league 4 years. Are you thinking Chris Long?
He’s an off the ball LB. 2nd tier type of guy.
Never mind. Read that to fast. I thought it was LB David from the Bucs.
WTF? 2 year, 11 mil for another team’s backup LB. Why not bring a starter in Roberts back for less or AVG for that matter.
He seems like an ascending player who’s a good tackler and has some coverage ability.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LongDa04.htm
I don’t like this signing. A backup and ST for that much. Again, WTF?
Look at his snap count and tackles. He’s not a backup. He played a lot.
Tim, just fucking ignore me. I was looking at CB David Long from the Rams. lol
I still would have preferred Elandon Roberts.
We will see though, cause what do I know. Really, lol
LOL
I get it with Roberts and we know him well. He might be looking for money we can’t afford. Read his grades in this tweet.
Well looks like the Jets got their man ….
Zuierlien resigned for one year contract 🤡
AFC East is going to be a dogfight
New Dolphins LB David Long.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LongDa04.htm
beer to ya
Here’s the trend of off-ball LBs who can play multiple roles.
Long was the PFF 3rd highest rated LB behind Tremaine and LaVonte David.
51.Cody Mauch OT North Dakota State
84.Israel Abanikanda RB Pittsburgh
197.PJ Mustipher DT Penn State
238.Anfernee Orji LB Vanderbilt
Glad he’s resigned
Yep , highly noticeable and not just the blond locks.
David Long tackled opposing ball carriers for a loss or no gain on 6.6% of his run defense snaps last season, the 2nd-highest run stuff rate in the NFL (min. 200 run snaps).
Long also was effective in coverage, allowing -5.1 receptions over expected (6th among LB).
There are players like this in the league that aren’t household names but they’re very good. I’m thinking about Fangio’s defense with these moves we’ve made. Good tacklers and guys who can cover. That includes Ramsey.
Baker, Long, Riley and Tindall is the key to rounding this out. I think Goode is going to compete more as an edge OLB. Remember there will only be 2 or 1 off-ball LBs on the field much of the time in nickel and dime.
So are we set at LB at the top?
Are we done with Roberts and AVG?
I would think so. Possibly the draft and UDFAs, maybe some off the street guys down the road after June cuts for depth. Tindall is the wildcard.
Looks like Long hits like Roberts, but isn’t a liability in coverage
PFF’s rankings for free agent linebackers:
3. LB DAVID LONG
Contract projection: Available in PFF’s free agency rankings
The Titans ask a lot of their off-ball linebackers, and Long can do it all. His 89.0 run-defense grade in 2022 ranked fourth at the position, with his 13 tackles for loss or no gain tied for 12th. Long plays a downhill, attacking brand of football that helps him blow up a lot of plays but also makes him particularly susceptible to over-committing on play-action passes and missing tackles when he takes a poor pursuit angle. Nevertheless, he is clearly an ascending young player contributing immensely to Tennessee’s defense that finished first in expected points added per rush allowed on the season.
The 2022 season was Long’s first as a full-time starter at middle linebacker, but he’s made the most of opportunities in the past. Over the past three seasons, his 19.8% pass-rush win rate and 23.8% pressure rate are both the second-best marks among off-ball linebackers with at least 100 pass-rush snaps over the span.
4. LB BOBBY WAGNER
Contract projection: Available in PFF’s free agency rankings
Ekeler has asked for a trade.
But…but Herbert
Edmunds to Da Bears
If we’re going to play more shell coverages than we’ve seen in the past, you need instinctive players and good tacklers. That seems to be the way we’re going.
We now have 3 Jalens and they are all studs.
Okay so off-ball LB seems to be wrapping up. The addition of Ramsey is huge in the secondary. Backup QB in Mike White. We need more RB and TE. OL competition is always good.
Vic Fangio said he spent the off-season looking at trends in the game. It’s about defending the pass. Of course you have to play the run and we have guys who can do that. But matchups in the passing game are huge. It seems obvious to me.
Long is a run stuffer. His lowest grade is in coverage.
Defending the pass is not just about coverage from a specific player. It’s about how to get offenses off the field because they didn’t convert. It’s a group dynamic. Long Jr. is an energy guy who loves football and has been coached up as a former 6th rd pick under Mike Vrabel. He’s a flash guy in all phases.
I read that a little earlier. That’s a good deal for us.
That’s a great deal, we just need Tua to play all 34 games
I figured that was the case.
My view on Mike F’ing White is he plays with a cool demeanor, he doesn’t play in a panic mode. That’s how Wilson and Skylar play. When I watched White play he looks the part in control of an offense. He’s just not a physically gifted athlete in the modern era. He won’t carry a team, but he won’t fuck it up all the time. LOL
Spotrac estimates Long’s market value to be a deal that pays him $4.9 million per season. That seems a bit low but definitely possible given the aforementioned injury concerns.
This signing may go under the radar
But this is a good signing
I think what we’ll see on defense under Fangio is always be ready for the run and do your job, but in coverage we’re going to mix it up both schematically and with personnel. Long Jr. looks like a fit for that.
It seems like Baker, Long Jr., Riley and Tindall will be the off-ball LBs who can do some different things at times. We’re going to be playing 5 and 6 DBs much of the time especially with Ramsey. That guy plays all over the field kind of like a Rover.
I thought this was a done deal
But I guess there is still room for the jests to ruin anything
I have no idea what he’ll do but I wouldn’t be surprised if he retired. He’s got plenty of money and he has a lot of interests in life.
That would be awesome
https://twitter.com/realjoespinosa/status/1635440721518903296
LOL
Leaving the Jets at the alter would be awesome. LOL
LOL, that would be a delectable cherry on our offseason sundae.
Our 4-2-5 common defense.
Chubb, Phillips, Wilkins and Ogbah
Baker and Long Jr.
X, Ramsey, Kohou, Holland and Jones
I’m curious to see if we make a play on Poyer to add to that secondary
He can probably get a richer contract with another team but you never know. 😉
The Bills restructured Josh Allen and con Miller to clear a bunch of cap room
So they might keep him
Thinking about our defense and getting ready for bed
Every defense needs to match up with 11 personnel on offense. That’s today’s game.
Jalen Ramsey was a big time addition because he’s one of the best defenders in the game. But the addition of Vic Fangio as DC is just as big. There’s too much talent on defense to fail. 😉
Good stuff and he’s a special player. He makes us a better team.
Be careful on 3rd and long, sitting in a zone, with 3 ballhawks back there
You know X is going to bring it this year, and not let Ramsey show him up, last time we saw that in Byron’s 1st year, he had double digit sacks
Oh my, it seems someone noticed we need tacklers after last year…lol. What’s next…
https://phinphanatic.com/2023/03/13/whats-next-for-the-miami-dolphins-roster/
https://nesn.com/2023/03/dolphins-land-ideal-patriots-target-david-long-underrated-move/
Poor Patriots. But hey, let’s not forget they have the “best Alabama QB in the NFL!”
🤣
I would like A-Rod to retire today. The more time I have to enjoy the Jets misery, the better. At this point, all the top (-ish) tier FA QB are gone, and the Jets are not in a position to draft one of the top four prospects. Everyone afte the top four are back up material.
Ryan Tannehill is still out there
Damn…Nice guy, but maybe one of the most forgettable dudes in the world.
under contract. He is going to make 29M this season.
Well, there it is, Florio said it, so it must be true
Ever wonder why he always shits on us? He’s a jet fan
ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio reported Monday night that Rodgers does plan to accept a trade to New York eventually.
I gotta laugh at the haters some times. I was reading that Ramsey had “a down year” “has been sliding” etc.
Well his wins above replacement (WAR) was second in the league for CBs last year behind Sauce Gardner. (who needs to acquire a chronic foot or knee issue!)
Go on and hate us. I hope you hate watching the Dolphins in the playoffs and Superbowl.
All we need is a post from Bret Favre saying, “I see A-Rod still wants to follow in my footsteps” and he will back out.
🤣🤣
I was just reading that nobody has offered Lamar Jackson a deal. The article went on to say that “people with knowledge” say that Jackson will refuse to sign the tag and will sit out a year before he plays under the tag. Will he really give up 34M and one of maybe 8 years of his playing time?
Too bad Miami isn’t in play huh? (for them)
Lol at the Raiders signing Jakobi Meyers, you might recall he’s the guy that threw the lateral to Chandler Jones, that ended the game last year between cheats and Raiders
I guess they think he learned from the mistake and won’t make it again. lol
Atlanta Falcons
SIGNINGS
QB Taylor Heinicke is signing a two-year deal worth up to $20 million, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday, per a source.
Los Angeles Chargers
SIGNINGS
LB Eric Kendricks agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth $13.25 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per a source.
One of A-Rods receivers. Trying to coax him in.
———–
New York Jets
FREE AGENCY
WR Allen Lazard is receiving interest from the Jets on a free-agent deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday on Good Morning Football.
—————–
Hope it doesn’t work out. Jets will have a good receiving group if they get Lazard, with him and Garrett Wilson.
DT Daron Payne to four-year, $90 million contract
DT Javon Hargrave to four-year, $84M contract
DT Dre’Mont Jones to three-year, $51 million deal
DT Dalvin Tomlinson to four-year, $57M contract
Where does this put us with Wilkins as far as an extension?
Are we in the 4 year 20 mil per range?
🤣🤣
lol
And whichever owner can sink a 90′ putting in 9 tries I’ll play for, otherwise I’m retiring
Another big RB and late round/possible UDFA. Tiyon Evans, 5’9.5 225 pounds from Louisville. Ran a 4.52 at the combine.
Who are you comparing him to? Tyreek
? Not comparing him to anyone. Just looking at the late round RB’s. As I think we need to go OL and TE with our 2nd and 3rd picks.
For the AFC East, the Dolphins are third at +360. The Buffalo Bills are the favorites at +120, while the New York Jets are second at +225 – with the rumor that the team is set to acquire quarterback Aaron Rodger fueling their improved odds for this year.
No respect. Good.
10:25 a.m. update: The Dolphins are monitoring the situation with Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook; they’re believed to have spoken to the Vikings.
But it’s unclear if Minnesota is willing to consider trading him. NFL Network and Vikings reporter Darren Wolfson have said he’s likely to stay with the Vikings.
Minn is 10m over the cap, they need to clear some space before the new league year starts tomorrow, Cook counts 14m against their cap
Not sure if they need to clear cap space before a trade could go thru, but if not, this might be what they’re waiting for
Dolphins Grade A
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2023-nfl-free-agency-team-by-team-day-1-grades-dolphins-seahawks-49ers-bears-among-early-winners/
We have 19.8m left to spend, with Ramsey at 4.1m, White 2.8m with 47 players on the roster counting Hunter and Byron, but not David Long
More than likely an UDFA. Chris Smith, 5’9 200 from Louisiana. They say he is fast but can’t find an official time for him. Hasn’t had pro day yet. Has ability as a returner.
Happy pi day!
lol
I think that is good value when you weigh his talent and his injury history
👍
Yes sir!
yay
Do we trade into the end of 1st to draft TE Michael Mayer?
no
No
I wonder what Bills F/A RB Devin Singletary is asking for?
Only thing I do not like about Singletary is he has 10 fumbles in his 4 seasons with 3 last season on 215 touches.
He was not impressive last year. Rather re-sign Wilson Jr.
Fansided has an article about draft day trades, I like this one
The Miami Dolphins acquire TE Will Dissly from the Seahawks for a 6th round pick (#197 overall)
I think he would have to agree with a restructure. I wouldn’t mind having him but would rather have Hurst at a lesser price.
Yeah Mostert is back. Now resign Wilson and draft an RB
Very happy to have Mostert back!
🥳🥳
Mostert
Good things pigs drink swill, not beer.
I think Wilson Jr is almost certain and a no brainer as they used draft capital to trade for him last year.
100% agreed.
I would like that signing and tend to agree with ya
We were reported to be in talks for Dalvin, so if that is off, then yes
I think the only reason we wouldn’t re-sign Jeff Wilson is if we came away with either Dalvin Cook or Derrick Henry.
—————–
AFTER he turned down $200M guaranteed last year? LOL
Ravens won that standoff.
I’m not sure I believe they ever offered him 200 mil guaranteed though.
only three years huh?
Lamar hasn’t agreed yet
Pats RB Damien Harris is an UFA. Not sure what the asking price is but if they were willing to pay for Cook.
Meanwhile, in New York…🤡🤡
oh fuck
Wait, so I thought that meant Jackson was signing that deal…
He’s just refuting Schefter’s report of a deal for 200 mil guaranteed?
That’s the way I read it
Ok, cheers, I was confused, lol.
Do the Pets have anyone on offense now?
Two observations…
1) It took Bobby Wagner two weeks into FA last year to sign with the Rams
2) Nobody has signed Mike Gesicki as of yet
Wonder what this is all about. Is he coming back to Miami?
https://twitter.com/KingTunsil78/status/1635687700597551131?s=20
That would be awesome
No
Jest fans…
There is nothing I would love more than Rodgers spurning them
I would laugh and laugh and laugh…. I may never stop
He’s a QB and GM. He’s dictating terms on which teammates he’ll play with now! 😂😂😂
Tosser
I think it’s likely that Rodgers is waiting until all the big signings are finished (for the most part), so the dust can settle and he can have all the spotlight to himself .
Here you go M
Most refreshing… thank you, my good man!
supposed details on Ramsey’s deal
Ramsey was due to make $17 million in 2023, $18.5 million in 2024, and $19.5 million in 2025.
Here are the new terms, per a source with knowledge of the deal.
1. Signing bonus: $8.835 million.
2. 2023 base salary: $1.165 million, fully guaranteed.
3. 2024 offseason roster bonus: $11 million, fully guaranteed.
4. 2024 base salary: $14.5 million, fully guaranteed.
5. 2025 offseason roster bonus: $4 million.
6. 2025 base salary: $15.5 million.
The contract continues to include $2.5 million escalators for 2024 and 2025.
Before the trade, Ramsey had $5 million in full guarantees remaining. After the trade, he now has $35.5 million in full guarantees.
Also, the Dolphins got some significant cap relief for 2023. Instead of having Ramsey could for $17 million, his new cap number is $4.11 million. That’s a reduction of $12.89 million.
To make it happen, Ramsey gave up $7 million in cash this year. But he’ll get it all back in 2024. His 2025 terms are unchanged.
Next year will be OUCH!
Additional list of Rodgers demands:
*A Bob Hope impersonator must be made available to Mr. Rodgers during all press conferences, and he must be accompanied by at least 3 little people all dressed as grumpy.
*No bananas are allowed anywhere in the entire facilities during the season.
*A mannequin with pink fluffy pubic hair must be positioned within sight of Mr. Rodgers locker, no further than 15 feet in distance.
*All restrooms made available to Mr. Rodgers must be equipped with 2 boxes of cornstarch, a funnel, and red toilet paper.
…….
…………….
…………………..
that Rogers is one strange fellow to come up with these demands……
bwaaahaaaahaaahaaaahaaaa
I would not trade for him when there are some good free agents out there.
Damien Harris
D’Onta Foreman
Jeff Wilson
and quite a few others
I absolutely agree.
Ekeler is better IMO
We currently have 3 OT’s and 4 OG’s on our roster. With Mostert and Ahmed back, I am more concerned about this right now.
OT
Armstead
Jackson
Kion Smith
OG
Hunt
Eich
Lester Cotton
Robert Jones
OC
Williams
That’s it.
Ekeler is better IMO
————
Still don’t want to give up another draft pick and pay more for a RB who is not all that much better than Damien Harris.
He will cost 6.2 mil and is a F/A in 2024. We already did that with Wilson in giving up a draft pick for a 1 year rental. Wilson’s case was less than a 1 year rental.
We need OL.
Doesn’t Ekeler want a new contract too?
Of course, if you are able to get him to do an extension and rework his deal then everything would be different.
Wow. I wonder if they will make a run at Gesicki now
Wow, glad he’s not in the AFC anymore
YEAH!!!
Love it!
Sweeeet. He’s getting more than Mostert?
So they have their starting backfield re-signed. Now a late round draft pick at RB and good to go. Use the early ones on OL and TE. Still won’t be surprised if they bring back Gesicki.
I’d be shocked
Me too. I just don’t see them bringing him back. He would fit well in Josh McDaniel’s offense in Vegas
RB, QB and WR are mostly set, we could bring back Sherfield or Cracraft
OL we have 5 starters, need depth and maybe LG
TE is biggest need on team
D is mostly set, just need some depth signings
I think most of us already knew this, but just in case…
I am so happy to re sign Mostert and J. Wilson. They deserve it. They played their hearts out for us, and I predict even better things for them this year, now that Fangio is here to teach McDaniel how to call in plays from the sideline on time.
With our pass D giving up so many yards, 3rd convs, and not getting off the field, it was hard to sustain a running game
With the D healthy and filled with playmakers and playaS, I think the running game will be much improved
I hope they bring back Sherfield and Cracraft. They produced results.
I think even if we were open to bring Gesicki back, he’d probably take a little less to play elsewhere where his skill set will be used more effectively.
(not that I think he’ll have to take less)
It was mostly painful to watch him play last year, I’m sure he felt the same way
Yeah Jeff Wilson is back. Now get another OL
I still think Gesicki is coming back but who knows
you are awesome. This made me spit coffee out of my nose.
Man, how long till the season opener?
About the same amount of time as it’s going to take Rodgers to tell the jets he’s retiring
😆
Isn’t high end Mexican food or expensive BBQ or Cuban food oxymoron?
I mean the premise of these foods are cheap cuts of meat cooked or seasoned so they’re tender and taste great
To charge a lot for these foods are ridiculous
