Miami Dolphins 2023 Schedule

So now our schedule is out, and as we can see, it won’t be an easy one. We start off the season with back to back road games, the first against the Los Angeles Chargers who were 10-7 last season and narrowly lost to the upstart Jacksonville Jaguars in their playoff game, 31-30. Then off to play our division foe the New England Patriots. We come home to face the Denver Broncos, who were a huge disappointment last season, but you have to think Russell Wilson will bounce back from an awful season with the Broncos. Then we travel to Orchard Park NY to play our nemesis Buffalo Bills. We did finally beat the Bills 21-19 early last season, but then lost the next 2 clashes, including a closely fought playoff matchup with our 3rd string QB Skylar Thompson at the helm 34-31. None of the 3 games between the Dolphins and Bills were decided by more than 3 points. I feel like we have improved our team, it’s not going to be any easier for them.

Our next home game is October 8th when we host the NY Giants. The Giants made the playoffs last year and upset the Minnesota Vikings in their house 31-24, but then got wiped playing in Philadelphia against the SB participant Philadelphia Eagles 38-7. The Giants will struggle some with the heat early in the season in Miami. We then host the Carolina Panthers, and possibly may face the #1 draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, QB Bryce Young. We then face off against the NFC’s Suberbowl representative Philadelphia Eagles on October 22nd at Lincoln Financial field. Like I said, tough schedule.

After the Eagles on the road, we come home to play our division rivals for the 2nd time of the season, the New England Patriots on Sunday October 29th. Despite the fact the Patriots looked pretty bad last season, they finished only one game behind us last season. The Patriots drafted one of the best DB’s in this year’s draft, CB Christian Gonzalez. They’ll need all the help they can get! After hosting the patriots we leave the USA to play an international game and Prime Time Matchup against the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs in Frankfurt, Germany. At long last, after the arduous task of traveling out of the country to face the SB Champs, we get our much needed BYE Week in Week 10.

We come out of the BYE Week to host the Las Vegas Raiders, potentially led by former 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders jettisoned Derek Carr and bring in a similarly talented QB, albeit one with a history of injured seasons. We’ll see how that works out. We then travel to New Jersey to play the NY Jets in another Prime Time Matchup, this one a FRIDAY game at MetLife Stadium. We hit the road again to then face the next to last of our NFC East foes, the Washington Commanders. The Commanders nabbed 2 DB’s in the 2023 NFL Draft, back to back, snaring M’s fave Emmanuel Forbes at #16, and then another CB, Jartaviue Martin 31 picks later. They will have a tough task covering against our offense.

We come for a Monday Night Football matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Will we face our old pal Ryan Tannehill, or will the Titans give the reins to rookie draftee Will Levis, who languished at the draft the entire first round surrounded by beautiful women. My heart breaks for the kid, really. The Jets come to visit us to play the rubber match between us just 3 weeks later from our last matchup. We then host our 3rd home game in a row, and the final NFC East opponent, the Dallas Cowboys.

The last 2 games of our 2023 schedule begin on the road again to face the Baltimore Ravens. Why do we seem to play them every season? Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore. Last season’s game was an absolute thriller though, with QB Tua Tagovailoa finishing off one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history, erasing a 21 point 4th QTR deficit to beat the Ravens 42-38. Our regular season finale will be us hosting the Buffalo Bills. As previously stated, we played the Bills very tough last season, even without our 1st or 2nd string QB.My hope is that we close the gap even more this year, and overtake the Bills. I also hope we face both the Ravens and Bills with our #1 QB, Tua Tagovailoa, completing his first 17 game season. Nothing against newly acquired backup Mike White, but I don’t want to see him in a game this season unless we pull Tua because we have a 30 point lead in the 4th QTR. We need our guy to be healthy, and of course the entire team to stay healthy, especially #72, LT Terron Armstead.

Fest deliberations are most likely underway, votes are being tabulated. This could potentially be the biggest Fest ever, I hope we get lots of people to make it this year. Our team is on the precipice of greatness, we’re close. It’s not easy to make that next step into the elite, but with McDaniel and Fangio, I feel like it’s going to happen. I felt like our defense was better than it played, and I still contend that Zero Coverage Blitz scheme wasn’t viable with the cast of characters we had in place. Fangio is not an all or nothing guy like Josh Boyer was. Fangio is more malleable, flexible in his approach, and he’s the opposite of Boyer, he adapts to who we’re playing and who he has to employ against them. Can’t wait for the season, and of course the Fest!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

It’s different in the NBA, because of the guaranteed contracts, but I’ve said what KG is saying about NFL players for a long time, be content with the team you’re on, you’ll likely make more in the long run

How many times have we seen guys that leave via FA, out of the league in a couple of years, because they didn’t fit with the new team

Reaves fits perfectly with the Lakers, he has 2 future HOFers playing with him and several other very good players

He’s not, nor will he ever be a superstar, he may avg 20 for a crappy team, but he’s never going to find what he has now and it’s going to cost him

D&Bs get together Sat eve. Tunes with the Dog up to the dog, but a bunch of people will be getting in Fri regardless. And yeah we’ll have a tailgate.

I didn’t even really ask but the reservations came flooding in (and thanks for that). Seat draft is next Monday (they’ve really tightened up the time frame…. used to have like 3-4 weeks). But need to pony up a number then. Remember nothing is set in stone. Better to order too many seats than too few (this time of year at least).

Berrios, Ezukanma, Anderson, Achene, Higgins and Conner are all players that could make our offense get to a level that his really tough to defend.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yeah, and just imagine that with an OL that gives Tua some time

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Berrios is the one I’m excited to watch, along with Achane, Anderson is more of an injury insurance to our top 2 on outside, Conner, EZ and Higgins aren’t ready for prime time yet, but could be as the season approaches mid way

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If a couple of them ball and the others contribute along with the core guys it’s a tall task for a defense. We are very quick and fast with different size and speed ratios.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We could use some size at outside WR, where I see Anderson playing in 3 or 4 receiver sets, with Hill going inside with Berrios

  20. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Will Brinson’s pick:
    Miami Dolphins

Caesars Win Total: 9.5 (under -130)
    Brinson Projected Record: 8-9

Again: the AFC is really stacked! And the Dolphins draw the entire AFC West and NFC East. I’ve got questions about Tua Tagovailoa, just in terms of how quickly he might be shut down for the season (and rightfully so) with any kind of concussion situation.

  21. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Brinson again:

    AFC East

Buffalo Bills (12-5) — Division winner
    New York Jets (10-7)* — Wild-card team
    New England Patriots (9-8)
    Miami Dolphins (8-9)

A very easy selection for me at the top: Buffalo might be “down” after failing to beat the Chiefs again, but this roster is still loaded and — last I checked — Josh Allen is still very, very good. The presence of Aaron Rodgers can put up for debate “best quarterback in the division” but I’ll still take Allen relative to the continuity issues each of them face. If the Jets offense takes flight out of the gate — without any delays, even — this could be a different story. And I think the Jets will push Buffalo here as long as Rodgers stays upright and healthy. But Buffalo is great value in the betting market and definitely strong value in the prediction market if everyone and their brother is dabbling in Big Apple futures.

  22. ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

Valet parking guy – ……. I’ve never had my valet parked, so don’t know?

Barber – cut my own. Looks good to a blind man on a galloping horse. Always give myself positive feedback afterwards, even when I hack a big bald patch into it!

Waitress (hot) – if she’s hot, I may suggest she might be more comfortable if she wore a little less? That’s a tip?

waitress (meh) – suggest a career change into radio? That’s a tip too?

Detailer or car wash dry guy – are you supposed to clean cars? Inside AND out? Who knew?

Shuttle driver at airport – it’s complementary. It should do what it says on the tin? Anyway, we don’t really have them here either. Life isn’t supposed to be convenient!

Masseuse (female … duh) – only had a foot one in Shanghai. She nearly dismembered me. No tip was forthcoming. When I flew Upper Class on Virgin (business), I was offered a comp one. It just felt like I was being unfaithful so declined!

Delivery of groceries or things like Target – like to choose my own. Don’t want the curled up shit and dented cans no one else wants.

Doordash – Over here, doors don’t dash. They open and close. If I saw one dash I may give it $5 for effort? What even is a doordash?

Bar tender – over here we go to the bar, check the beers on handpump (if you’re a sad obsessive like me) and buy accordingly. I never got where I am today by tipping someone to pour me a drink.

    (couldn’t resist!)

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

      This is all too funny!
      But
you weighed in on the self serv cashier tipping debate, which I would never do, so I thought maybe I’d ask folks what the norm is for tipping in general.

I do NOT want to expand or normalize mass tipping or for tipping to become required or demanded for good service or to be some kind of extortion or protection racket.

For example I refuse to patronize bars that have a velvet rope and a bouncer who is taking bribes to let certain people in.

I mean I do understand that a venue can only hold just so many people, and it might want to keep out the riff raff, but this can get very exclusionary and very biased. They’d never pick me as one of the cool kids or A list celebrities anyway, so it’s a moot point, but I resent that kind of mean girl style bullying.

But I don’t like hiking across a parking lot in bad weather or with the wife in high heels or wending through a sketchy parking garage, so I use valet parking and tip the guy who brings me my car $5.

Back to the Will Brinson prediction above.

With all due respect to Bill Beliczcek,

how can anyone look at the NE roster and see it as better than the Miami roster?

Some of their best players, like Godchaux, Parker, and Gesicki, are castoffs from the Dolphins.

Who are their superstars? Who are their playmakers?

  24. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Steve … is your “age” comment to me or UK?
    I’m certainly very old,
    and with my advancing age,
I both need and want to swap dollars for creature comforts and safety.

    But in another sense,
I don’t think of using valet parking as an age thing.

    I like luxury.
I’ll pay for luxurious accommodations, fine dining, excellent seats at an event, and
especially, for other people to do drudge chores for me, such as schlepping through back alleys, fetching my vehicle from a musty concrete bunker, and negotiating traffic in an unfamiliar city while I sip fine whiskey and my lady drains a couple margaritas instead of breaking out into a sweat while all dressed up for a show.

  29. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Just an observation. I’m seeing the left losing their shit about DeSantis vs Disney. Apparently Disney is canceling a huge project and DeSantis is being blamed. I’m just looking for consistency. The left hate big corporations getting huge tax breaks, and correct me if I’m wrong, Disney is a huge fucking corporation. They have been paying zero taxes since its inception. Now all of a sudden the left is up in arms and their panties are all bunched up. Since when does the left even give a flying fuck about Florida? They hate Florida, mock it constantly. Now they care about it? Fucking ridiculous!!

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Reel that shit in man. You are talking bull shit. The fuck you know about the left? Or Florida for that matter?

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I know a whole lot about the left Rock, my family is entrenched in it. As far as Florida is concerned, I know my favorite sports team resides there, and the weather is nicer in the winter there than it is here. I’m not reeling anything in Rocko. Just a couple of months ago Elizabeth Warren was foamng from the mouth about corporations getting tax breaks but these poor college students have to pay for the education, you know, that they chose. Reel that in, filet it, and eat it.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

You don’t know the particulars about the tax situation. There is a reason why DeSantis retracted his first attempt to overthrow the Reedy Creek Improvement District. It would have left the citizens of Orlando and surrounding areas holding the bag on BILLIONS in tax and interest liability. The district (Disney) doesn’t pay taxes, but they do pay for ALL IMPROVEMENTS in the district that taxes usually pay. They also collect and pay sales tax. The district brings in multiple BILLIONS more to the state than the 5.5% corporate sales tax that they get out of paying. I’ll be happy to discuss it further and edgumakate you more in October.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

DeSantis and his cronies are currently being sued for using their political power to punish Disney for freedom of speech. They will lose the suit and the Gov will be “reeled in”

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Mike E — to me it is not a left or right thing, what DeSantis has been doing in his efforts to punish Disney is just wrong. No person or company should have the power of the state turned on them for expressing a political opinion.

  33. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    LOL @ Tim and Kong

  34. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Stanger – if it was a corporation that Trump owned, who else besides Trump would be complaining? It’s all about who’s effing who. Disney is immune from big bad corporate status because they seem to be floating all the right things that the left support, so they drop their pitchforks against said corporation (Disney), because it’s the heir apparent to the GOP if Trump is ousted. It’s a convenient stance to take, if you can’t admit that then no more needs to be said.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Disney didn’t pay taxes because it funded all the civic services that is normally the obligation of civic government.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ok, and Ron DeSantis is the new GOP villain as painted by the left side. This is what they do, it’s character assassination. If (when?) DeSantis gets voted in, they will spend the next 4 years trying to impeach him or claim their was election interference. They’re just warming up the engines now to make DeSantis look like the next Trump.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

My comment had nothing to do with whatever opinion anyone has of Desantis. Just explaining why Disney doesn’t pay taxes. Everyone is free to draw whatever opinion they want from it

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Disney turned the power of the Florida Gov against Disney. DeSantis literally held two press conferences rolling out way after way the government could screw with Disney just cause DeSantis was pissed off. Includes the thought of buliding a prison right next to Disney.

It’s not about left or right. About how the game is supposed to be played. And DeSantis went unconstitutional. I like the constituion.

JMO, but I don’t like current Disney and their agenda under Bob Iger. And yes, it bleeds over to ESPN and their constant political commentary.

Additionally, I think Bob Iger has all but destroyed Star Wars… at least on the big screen.

I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with DeSantis going after Disney, but that’s just my $.02… what do I know.

  41. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Mike E,

I had high hopes for DeSantis, but now that we know he’s being backed by the Deep State RINOs (Bush’s, Cheney’s, Ryan’s, etc), I’m hella OUT on him as President in ’24.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

He’s the only one with a shot to oust Trump, and Trump is the only GOP candidate who can possibly lose in ’24.

I’m no fan of DeSantis, but I’m voting for him in the primaries because anyone is better than Trump, unless you really want another 4 years of Biden.

The problem is Trump’s base will vote for him and the rest of the GOP will split the vote up between DeSantis and the other candidates when they really should just focus on one candidate to run against Trump in the primaries. They of course won’t/can’t and it’ll give Trump the candidacy.

Then us lucky Americans will get exactly what we deserve and we’ll have candidates from each party that are both disliked by the vast majority of America, a rerun of 2020. Yippie. Can’t wait for the 2024 cycle.

  42. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Jim Brown was the best RB at his time in the history of the NFL. He was a man playing with boys. My only Q about him is how good he would have been (and he would have been very good) in today’s game. Defenders are bigger and faster.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Well he was a great athlete at 6-2 230 so he’d probably still be great in todays game.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Guess my question is if he was taken in the last draft would he have ended up the best of all time. Cause to me at least he clearly is that given his era.

  43. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ken – My comment had nothing to with why Disney does or doesn’t pay taxes either for that matter. My comment was about why Disney is immune from being hated as a big corporation by the left, and how the left is beginning their character defamation campaign against DeSantis, just in case he’s the man they face next year.

Do you think Randi Weingarten includes Disney in this?

“All of a sudden, when it’s about our students, they challenge it, the corporations challenge it, the student loan lenders challenge it,” she continued, screaming and jumping up and down. “That is that not right, that is not fair, and that is what we are fighting as well when we say cancel student debt.”

“I see it as a moral issue. I mean, the Republicans are making it … the states are making it a political issue. When, all of a sudden, did college not become something we wanted kids to do?”
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Instead of bitching about giving money to kids who pay tuition, why not have the very same educational institutions that charged these kids (or their parents) hundreds of thousands of dollars pay them back, instead of American taxpayers who may have already paid for their own kids tuitions, or don’t have kids, or whose kids went into a different vocation that didn’t require a college education that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  44. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

  45. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Kellen Winslow was my old school fave TE, along with Todd Christensen.

Hey but one of the most fun TEs to watch run after the catch back in the day was Mike Ditka.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Kellen Winslow just about single-handedly killed us in that 41-38 playoff game against the Chargers. That was an incredible effort.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You could argue it’s one of the best performances ever. He was exhausted at the end of the game.

  46. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’d have to say one of my favorite TE’s was the Giants Mark Bavaro. Tough dude, used to make a catch in a crowd, and then carry would be tacklers for extra yards.

  47. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tim – no doubt on Winslow. I think he blocked a FG on special teams in that game as well.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He did and he played through multiple injuries.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I was at that game, we felt like leaving before the 2nd qtr, then the magic started

With just under 2 minutes left we attempted a mid 40s fg, that would’ve put the game away, but the fn long snapper botched it fning up the timing, Chargers got the ball and scored to tie it

Missed fgs, blocked fgs littered OT, just like Christmas day vs KC playoff game

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s awesome you were at that game, considered one of the most exciting games ever played.

He was only 61. He went to Clemson. I was so proud about that as he was the first big name in pro football that I knew went to my college.

Oddly, Joe Montana, who threw that pass to Dwight Clark, scored 2 touchdowns for Notre Dame to beat Clemson when he was in college.

While at Clemson, Clark dated Miss Universe Shawn Weatherly, and they were a couple for about 4-5 years while he played in the NFL until he met the woman who became his first wife and mother of his first 3 children.

Clark blamed football for giving him head injuries that caused the ALS, which has now been proven to be a cause of some cases of ALS.

Todd Christensen also died young at about 55. He died of liver transplant complications after having liver disease for some years. He was a BYU Mormon, though, and reportedly did not drink alcohol.

Mike E — not just the left going after DeSantis cause of Disney. The right is as well. DeSantis has done tons of stuff but that is what Trump is concentrating on. And a lot of “neutral Republicans” are as well. And I understand why….. it’s just not right.

I think he’s gonna lose bad in Disney’s unconstiutional retaliation claim whenever that makes its way through the courts.

Mike – The left is going to after Desantis anyway they can because he terrifies them. Like the smart ape said, the only Republican that can lose to Biden is Trump so they don’t want Desantis in the mix. Disney is just their current golden goose. Today I read a Politico article about Casey Desantis. The opening paragraph was sickening in its condescension and innuendo.

I grew up in Osceola County. I remember it before Disney. Disney bought the local governments to get Reedy Creek. They are not saints only looking out for the good of mankind. They are only slightly better than the mob. No company should be above the laws that the rest of us follow but Disney bought and paid to be. Nothing to do with constitutionality, Stanger. Just the opposite. If anything, Reedy Creek was against the Constitution. Florida has always been driven by corrupt carpet baggers and developers like Disney. Disney just over-estimated their place and power. They decided they were more important than the people who are elected by the people.

As far as what Disney has brought to Florida – jobs, opportunity for ancillary businesses to make money and pay taxes, a unsustainable service-based economy, low wages, congestion, inflation, overpopulation, crime, environmental destruction, erasure of old Florida.

Desantis is doing exactly what he was elected by a landslide to do. Keep Florida, Florida. Anyone who wants NY or California or any other place that has been turned into a shithole by their politics should have stayed in them.

Constitution doesn’t consider allowing a corporation to pay their way into having a self-ruled kingdom (magic or not) outside the laws and regulations passed by the duly elected representatives of the state. But that is what Disney is. Current government is just righting a wrong. Disney compounded it by trying to back door the royalty clause with the outgoing, compromised board.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Phelon — its not what DeSantis Florida did, it’s why it did it. DeSantis himself has admitted in press conferences and in his book that was because of Disney’s position of the “Don’t Say Gay Bill.” Makes it a clear case of retribution for first amend expression.

However, I DO understand that most people are drones… eating up the propaganda as they had prior to WWII: weak-minded people get unwillingly programmed by the corporate/state-run media. In America’s case, it’s “Pravda West” ©.

I hate bearing witness to the destruction of Western civilization. America is going to be one of the fastest ‘outs’ in all of human history, after having achieved the near impossible after millennia of tyranny: freedom and liberty. We’re still working on justice for all, but now the FBI, CIA, DOJ, and others have been weaponized under communistic/socialistic tactics, in order to destroy a major political party. As for the leader comment, if he was a head football coach I’d agree

He doesn’t come across as a leader, but that has more to do with how he was treated

If you want him to be a leader that says everything people want to hear, then he’s not that, but from a what he did for the country stand point ir bottom line, he was a good leader

You’re never going to get a republican leader like you want, because of the left and MSM

So I guess the answer to Trump is to vote in the corrupt tyrant left machine, doesn’t matter who it is running, whomever it is will fall in line with their agenda

Joe Biden is an embarrassment on the world stage and Jill is a communist who should be charged with elder abuse among other crimes.

As for the rest, if Trump had an ounce of leadership in him or cared to put the country in front of his ego, he could have done far more. But he was too busy firing any staffer who disagreed with him and calling people names. He was mostly ineffective and mostly stood for Trump.

RG – Robert Hunt, Lester Cotton Sr.

The way Trump was/is treated? He’s not a victim. He’s always been a bully that exacerbates everything by his own disgusting behavior, then cries foul and paints himself a victim. If you don’t toe his line and do exactly what he wants then he will use his power and influence to glorify himself and destroy you any way possible. You can’t lead campaigns of harassment, attacks, and self-aggrandizement then expect anything different in return.

As for MSM doing anything they can to mischaracterize Trump. That does happen like it does with anyone else. It’s bigger with Trump because Trump sells, and he plays into it. He uses it. It isn’t rocket science. How can a Trump supporter complain about these things when that is how Trump operates as well? You guys make excuses for the things he says all the time. He lies constantly, takes credit for things he didn’t do or that didn’t happen, and will tear down anyone that doesn’t agree with him just as fast as any MSM outlet will do to him. Yet when he does it, you label it ‘bravado’, or ‘you can’t take the things he says seriously’, or ‘you have to read between the lines’, etc.

It’s a joke. Trump is as disgusting a human being as there is in politics or any other walk of life. If you want to believe he did some things for this country, fine. There are a number of policies and things he did as president that I agree with, but he is also a guy that would set himself up as absolute ruler, would burn down every American institution, would do or say anything, and would destroy anyone and everyone to stay in power.

The best book I’ve ever read on the Dolphins PERFECT SEASON just made its’ first appearance at the local Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Author Marshall Jon Fisher’s exhaustive research has produced something to treasure in this 406 page book.

It’s a bit of a “Warts and All” effort that still manages to bring effusive praise to Miami’s mind boggling 17-0 season. Fisher reminds us of just what was going on in our nation (and our world) during this extremely tumultuous year. The sacrifices made by so many, both on the football fields and the battle fields, are told. Also, indepth background analysis of virtually every Dolphin player and coach adds much insight into what made this season such an amazing achievement.
