If/when Minnesota Vikings RB gets released, the Dolphins should just sit back and read about while drinking their morning coffee, as if it’s just another news story, a story they’re not particularly interested in. Cook is a nice player, but he will be asking for money we don’t have, and frankly, I think the guy we drafted in RD 3, De’Von Achane can provide the playmaking ability Cook would bring. It’s not that Cook isn’t a very good player, he is, but RB isn’t our problem. Mostert, Wilson and Acahane can give you the production that Cook can give you. We’d have to overpay to get Cook, some team who really needs him will do that. It happens every year. I feel that Cook is more duplication, although at a higher level, but Cook is also 28, so you overpay for a 28 year old running back? No thanks!
Raheem Mostert actually averaged more yards per carry (4.9 – 4.4) than Dalvin Cook last season. Over their careers, the disparity is greater in favor of Mostert. Cook is not a grinder, a guy that wears down opposing defenses, he’s a similar type runner to what we have. I know we’re close, but we need cap room to sign our own players like DE’s Christian Wilkins and Zach Sieler. Cook is a luxury we cannot afford. We need to also get more from our draft picks. We barely used our first pick last season, LB Channing Tindall. We spent a 3rd RD pick, once again our 1st pick in the draft, on RB De’Von Achane, and RB is the easiest position to transition to the NFL from college football. This kid is going to be electric, and he will keep both Mostert and Wilson fresh. RB by committee is the NFL way now, so few teams rely on one stud back, and the ones that do usually end up losing them for a spell and then need to change their offensive scheme to be competitive.
Our offense is all about our playmakers on the outside, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and then contributions with whomever makes the roster cuts, Berrios, Wilson, Anderson and Ezukanma. We added a lot of blocking at the TE position, gone is the finesse TE Mike Gesicki, and TE’s Durham Smythe, Eric Saubert, and Naples fave Tyler Kroft are here to block. Not a one of them is a dangerous receiving threat, and Head Coach Mike McDaniel vowed to run the ball more, and we will, but between Mostert, Wilson and A-Chain, you won’t miss Dalvin Cook. Who knows, maybe either Tanner Conner of 6th RD draft pick Elijah Higgins will be the receiving terror similar to what George Kittle provided for McDaniel’s offense with the SF 49ers.

Renaldo Hill was hired as Miami’s pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach shortly after Fangio joined the team. During his 10 years as a player, Hill played for the Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Dolphins and Broncos.
Hill returns to the team for a second stint after being hired as an assistant defensive backs coach under Adam Gase in 2018. In fact, it’s his second time working with Vic Fangio after being hired as Denver’s defensive backs coach in 2019.
Meeting with the media last week, Hill explained what it is like to work with Fangio and the small details that make him one of the league’s top defensive minds.
“I think the biggest thing with Vic is he’s strong in his convictions,” Hill said. “It’s worked over time. He knows where the trouble shoots are at, he knows how the teams are trying to attack him. I think he’s always looking to move the down around and help our guys and making sure that even though we have a talented group that no one feels that stress just for the whole game.
“The other thing with Vic is he’s always not looking to stay stagnant. He’s always looking to what’s the next thing, what’s the next thing in the NFL. How it changes from our scheme, and how we can incorporate our scheme to make it better each year. Those are important things that I learned over time is to just make sure that you’re staying ahead of the curve in this league because it’s forever changing, and you just don’t want to be that system that stalls out.”
Something Boyer wouldn’t or couldn’t do…adjust.
Lol…third day in row I’ve page-turned myself.
….too gabby…lol
Hill spent two seasons with the Broncos before serving as defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers. The former first-team All-big Ten cornerback made his NFL coaching debate in 2015 as a defensive backs coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While he’ll serve as Miami’s defensive backs coach, he was also named pass game coordinator.
“It’s challenging every day, but I feel like with us going against these guys in practice every day I don’t think there will be things that will surprise us,” Hill said. “With the multiple things we do offensively it kind of ties into how we want to be defensively being multiple and being able to adjust to different styles of play and I think we get that on a daily.
“It’s a talented group on that offensive side, and we just want to continue to build our defensive side, and get caught up to speed there.”
Imo, playing against our O (and vice versa) is the best practice for this team. You practice and play against the best to be the best.
Heat and Panthers, unlikely finalists, and both went down 4-1. Basketball and hockey season are over…
Great run for both Florida teams.

DO NOT TOUCH MY FEET!
I have a serious aversion to having my feet touched. A few years back I observed my mom telling my little sister that to wake her sleeping baby she should flick him on the bottom of the foot and it all fell into place. “Childhood trauma” LOL
Not to make light of your childhood trauma, but I read that and my first thought was why would you want to wake a sleeping baby?!?!? 🤫
1st rule of parenting? Lol…
There were days, I would have inflicted some serious pain to anyone who did that. Just sayin…
Lol…right!
LOL
I have never had a kid so I’m not in the know. I always assumed you need to wake them for SOMETHING and you don’t ever shake a baby, then you have to find an alternate method to wake the baby. (maybe for scheduled medicine or something?) Feeding? IDFK!
What I DO KNOW is you should NOT flick the bottom of the poor little person’s feet and give them an aversion to having their feet touched for the next 60-70 years!
Good timing Herd on the pedi…
Yell are getting a little too personal here
Like Mahomes with his bath bombs
Oooh….Bath bombs! 🥰
Lol
Colonoscopies have literally zero feeling or memory of the event during the procedure or upon awakening.
My insurance tier required and fully paid for one at 50 and every 10 years, so I also had one at 60 and one at 70.
After that, they say surgery on an 80-year-old is more dangerous, so they recommend having one at 75, and then that’ll do it. Not much value in preventative care on that system at that age.
I’ve followed the above schedule too but I see no reason to bend over again….not that it was uncomfortable as I was “out” the entire time…lol.
But be careful about those pedis.
It’s easy to get a foot fungus from unclean instruments, hands, water, solutions, vessels, etc.
Too many variables, and these practitioners are not medical people.
My wife caught a variety of athlete’s foot from a sloppy pedicure salon that took a year of expensive podiatry to cure.
I’ve never had an issue. The place I go to uses the disposable liners for the foot basin, all the instruments are in the sealed pouches that are used in an autoclave to sterilize them. Techs wear gloves. I’ll go until there’s an incident! 😂
My colonoscopy was easy peasy. Out like a light and wake up with no nausea.
The worst part of the whole process was the unpleasantness involved with prepping the day before, and not being able to eat.
On a funny note, the thoroughness of your prep and cleanliness of your bowels is measured on a scale called the ‘Boston bowel prep score’.
I was laughing out loud when I read that- I found it so appropriate…to be named after that place. The only way it could have been better is if it were called the NE Patriots bowel prep score.
Colonoscopy – I just remember waking up, saying a couple stupid things that made no sense and blowing out a few massive farts.

Let’s hope he keeps trending that way. Finding a gem CB as a UDFA isn’t easy.
Hey, What are you guys talking about?
Ho, ho, ho the laugh done by Ed McMann
Anytime Johnny said anything risque
The East is spending like crazy!
Spotrac shows us in worse cap shape than the Bills or Jets with the Jets being better off than us and Bills. Kind of opposite of what the graph shows. But it is still close and definitely not as bad as the Browns, Saints and Chargers.
The East minus the Pats have been spending though.
Pats have 97 mil (top 51) in cap space next year. If Mac Jones struggles again this year, I wonder if the Pats make a move on someone like Kirk Cousins next year. Cousins will be an UFA.
Future cap space can be very misleading, what it mostly shows is 20 or 30 guys (not likely to make a roster) replacing FAs
In general, if you have a good roster and lots of cap space, you probably have a lot of FAs that need to be paid
If your talent sucks and have a lot of cap space it’s a good thing, bad contracts off the books
A few other scenarios exist too, point being he’s making a general statement without any context
Take that…
https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/06/13/major-league-baseball-strikes-all-pride-jerseys
That last line is so stupid, the others were Minkah, Harris and Tunsil only 1 bust, 1 forced his way out and the other brought us riches
This is important to watch if we’re trying to sign Dalvin Cook. The franchise tag for RBs is @ $10M.
The RB position has become quite devalued in recent years. The old measure was 30 years old+ and buyer beware. It’s looking more and more like 27 years old+ and buyer beware.
If Saquon resets the market for RBs, we will likely give up the pursuit of Dalvin Cook.
And all of that being said, it would be wiser to extend Christian Wilkins while we have the $$$ to do so.
We really did make a foolish move in signing Ced Wilson to big $$$ (Grief, as Rockphin would call Grier, and rightfully so in this case).
No, it wasn’t a ‘mega-contract’, but that money alone could have gone to sign Dalvin Cook… and the remaining $$$ we have could go to re-signing Wilkins.
Shit happens, and I get it… it just sucks.
We hadn’t traded for Tyreek yet and you can’t look at next year because it didn’t work out and say see we could have done this.
IMO, ‘WINNING’ the offseason concludes with a new contract for Christian Wilkins, AND signing Dalvin Cook. Can we make it happen?
What are you paying Cook?
Don’t need Dalvin Cook.
the Ced Wilson signing was pre Tyreek trade… it would have been perceived asan upgrade , and he would have been on the field a lot more if we did not trade for the cheetah.. once we traded for him Ced Wilson became was no longer needed , and his skill set was not exactly needed.. in HINDSIGHT after the trade it was a bad signing, before the trade, it would have been a good move .. now it’s time to cut bait and hopefully get somebody to take him off our hands so we get something in return.. possibly the Lions as they have a couple WR suspended for a while and I don’t think they drafted anyone of note at WR .. fingers crossed 🤞
Wilson is a tough trade.
I’d trade him along with our 7th and 3m for a 2030 7th
It’s only tough, if you want draft compensation and the new team to eat the entire salary
I bet we move him the week leading up to opener
That begs the question; can you trade cap space?
No, but that’s not what’s at stake
7m is the cash payout, if traded the new team would assume the payout, unless we pay some, 2m we’d still owe for dead money
We’re winning the East
https://www.thephinsider.com/platform/amp/2023/6/15/23762568/colin-cowherd-picks-miami-dolphins-to-win-afc-east-tua-tagovailoa-tyreek-hill-buffalo-bills-fangio
Steve, what I was asking is can a team pick up some of the cash in a trade? I’ve had a hard time finding an answer.
Yes, I believed it happened in the Rodgers trade or was at least talked about as being something considered
Trading cap space wouldn’t be the correct terminology in a search
I tried a lot of different ways to search it and the only “yes” answer I found was if the player agrees to restructure his current contract.
The trading team can agree to pay part of the salary left on the contract as part of the trade. I don’t remember who it was, but I want to say it happened with the Browns and one of their QBs (maybe Mayfield?).
But nobody knows for sure. I think it’s happened before but I’m not sure or I can’t remember. LOL
No, I remember for sure it happened with the Browns. I’m not sure who the player was.
Yes, the Brown’s for sure, was going to add that
Tim the team getting a player in trade takes on the remaining contract of that player except for bonuses already paid. The team losing the player eats what is now dead cap for already paid bonus.
Unless the old team agrees to pay some of his salary, it’s correct below in what Cav posted
Not Mayfield it was before him
https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/07/06/browns-to-pay-baker-mayfield-10-5-million-with-trade-to-panthers
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Browns will reportedly pay Mayfield $10.5 million this season while the Panthers will pay him approximately $5 million. The quarterback trimmed roughly $3.5 million off of his base salary in the deal.
The Browns will now save $8 million in cash and cap space, per Garafolo.
Per Yahoo’s Charles Robinson, the ceiling for the draft pick is a fourth rounder. Additionally, Robinson reported that Mayfield cutting part of his salary helped the trade as Carolina wanted the Browns to take on $15 million of the salary back during the draft.
We did this with Tannehill too I think
I thought you were talking about some funky trade the Browns did several years ago
Oh yeah, I do remember they were part of some really weird trade like 10 years ago. Can’t remember who that was though.
The Dolphins paid part of Tannehill‘s contract when he was traded
🍺
Okay cool now I have the answer.🙂
Lol…a bunch of old fuckers sitting around talking shit, and no one remembering a damn thing about what their talking about except an idea…omfg…lol…I’m rolling.
Lol…imagine all of you getting a pedi….lmfao
I find it odd I clearly remember the Browns doing that kind of trade, but I don’t recall us with Tannehill, lol.
I must have just erased the Tannehill years, lol.
Good, as have I. Thank God every day that it’s over
lol
The main thing about why it’s hard to trade Wilson is he’s not coming off a productive season and his contract is too big. You also have to give up a draft pick. Even if we did pick up some of his contract why would a team be honed in on him? There are other WRs out there without all the hassle.
Son, I think that funky trade was the Browns taking some shitty player with a huge contract off another team’s hands and getting picks from that team as well. Don’t remember who it was though.
Exactly
Lol

Who here thinks we can compete for a title without adding another player?
I do, not saying we will win it all but in the mix.
I don’t think a backup NT, depth at ILB or another OL is going to be the difference.
I don’t really. I just want us see this team with no injuries play to its potential.
I said that wrong!
I think we HAVE what we need to ball into the playoffs and go deep, barring injuries.
Not with our OL as currently constructed
I’m very hopeful this is a top 5 D, begrudgingly top 10 D this year.
I truly have no faith in the OL at this point…
…every time Tua gets hit, I will….
Do we actually trade Tannehill ?? I though he just left as a FA ??
I think we got a 4th round pick for him and $5m of his salary.
it was swapping 6th round picks in 19 and a 4th round pick in 20
No he was traded. I forced the trade myself. I was ready to go full banners and protest.
I think with the cream of the 90 we have now we can compete with almost anyone. Yes we can compete for a SB this year. It will come down to matchups and injuries. I can see us sweeping the division or being swept. The oblong spheroid doesn’t always bounce the way one wants.
Lmao at The oblong spheroid doesn’t always bounce the way one wants.
I think this team has a very good shit at playoffs and beyond … again we will go as far as Tua can take us , we ( like most teams ) have a large drop off in ability if he goes down …. I saw better OLine play last year over the previous season… hoping the position coaches we brought in can Coach em up
They will and yes we do have a good shit at the playoffs.
Poops
I think just year two in the system will increase the quality of the o line play.

The only team I can think of is the Cowboys. They wanted to resign him because he stepped up for them when they had injury issues at the WR position. We outbid Dallas for him.
Even though he had a not so good season, Dallas knows what he can do. Dallas has the cap space also, but we would still have to pay some of his salary to make it happen, IMO.

Y’all, I think we ALL understand that the signing of Ced Wilson was what it was, PRIOR to the revelation that we could (and eventually) got ‘Reek Da Cheetah.
Yes, we ALL get that! It’s just a shame that we’re in the sit that we’re in right now, and especially after signing Berrios and some guy with a self-name in Chosen.
I’m just sayin’… fate would have us regret signing Ced Wilson to begin with.

What are you paying Cook?
———
The minimum that could bring him to Miami.
As I stated above, Saquon could reset the market. Should that happen, kiss Cook goodbye.
Priority #1 should be the re-signing of Christian Wilkins.
Cedrick Wilson Jr.
11 WR 6-2 197 27 6 Boise State
Jaylen Waddle
17 WR 5-10 182 24 3 Alabama
Freddie Swain
88 WR 6-0 197 24 4 Florida
Braylon Sanders
86 WR 6-1 194 24 1 Mississippi
Tyreek Hill
10 WR 5-10 191 29 8 West Alabama
Erik Ezukanma
18 WR 6-2 206 23 2 Texas Tech
Daewood Davis
87 WR 6-1 196 24 R Western Kentucky
River Cracraft
85 WR 6-0 198 28 5 Washington State
Chris Coleman
83 WR 5-11 192 N/A R Cal Poly
Robbie Chosen
3 WR 6-3 190 30 8 Temple
Braxton Berrios
0 WR 5-9 190 27 6 Miami
That’s a lot of good WR’s.
Damn straight, Bro!
our 4th round pick in in jeopardy.
HIll
Waddle
Berrios
Chosen
Wilson Jr
Sanders
EZE to PS then poached (Frowney face emoji)
by Beliceat (Sreaming angry devil face emoji)
It has to play out, E comes cheap for a couple more years and they like him. I’d love to see him carve a niche ( that’s all that’s left 🤷♂️). Contribute and help us win games.
Braylon Sanders ran a 4.48 40. That’s fast.
But
Didn’t he miss some or all of the OTAs this year?
That would not be smart. Is he unhappy with his chances?
a la Preston Williams?
also a UDFA … could be sealing his own doom
Ezukanma ran a 4.55. That’s not fast.
McDaniel loves speed.
Welker wanted Ezukanma though.
I think we are going to use a lot of 3 TE sets which will almost require you carry 4 AND a FB so that will cut deep into our WR’s
I do think we’ll carry 3 or 4 TEs and a FB, but what makes you think we’ll deploy 3 TEs at once? It’s our weakest skill group on offense.
From Madden, basically. I’m probably wrong, but the “Dolphins Playbook” is full of 3 TE sets.
I can see that, especially if Saubert and Kroft are decent pass catchers
8 in the box, Waddle single covered and 2 big TEs in slot, mixed in with in-line
All depends on the matchup
I’d think having Hill, Waddle, Chosen, Berrios and Achane lined up 5 wide would scare the shit out of teams, result soft zone
Agree that teams will fear those 5 on the field at one time. Let’s hope the other 5 give Tua the protection to get the ball to any one of them.
I can’t see us doing that. It takes our best players off the field
It really helps the run game. They lined up in a three tight end set 11% of the time last season. 3TE, 1 RB, 1WR
so do you think whey won’t carry 4 TE? I think they definitely will, along with a true FB in the running back room.
We only used 4 or more wide receivers on seven of 1,096 plays last year. History isn’t necessarily a predictor of the future, but it most certainly is an indicator of tendencies. McDaniel doesn’t empty the backfield often.
We also had Gesicki, that they probably felt needed to be on the field during those 3rd and longs
And we didn’t have Chosen and Berrios
For sure we’ll see that more than 7 times this year, a lot more
We most often lined up in the 12 offense last season more than 50% of the time.
Again, not really having a good reliable 3rd WR dictated some of the formations
Sherfield over achieved last year, but wasn’t brought back for a reason
we did have a reliable WR. We just didn’t use him because of coaching preferences. You have it assbackward.
Basically, getting your best players on the field is what’s going to dictate what sets we use a lot
Using 12 personnel should be less than last year, but we should still see it often, as we brought in 2 blocking TEs
We should be dictating a lot of opponents formations this year on both sides of the ball, on D it will be due to shutting something down
Rockphin says:
June 16, 2023 at 8:47 am (Edit)
so do you think whey won’t carry 4 TE? I think they definitely will, along with a true FB in the running back room.
—————-
Our strength is speed at WR and the vertical passing game. I think you want to maximize the WRs on the field to stress the DBs. This in turn will help the running game because the D cannot stack the box
you can’t run very well with 3-4-5 WR on the field either and it makes you predictable unless you try to run draws all the time. We will see. I of course think I am right and you are wrong or we would not be discussing it. We will see. I don’t see us using 3-5 WR more than 2-3% of the time. (double to tripple the use last year)
4-5 not 3-5
I can’t seem to get over Fangio making reference to needing more, better, players on D
Is he trying to duplicate that great D he had in Chicago?
I mean WTF, roll with what you got, it’s pretty damn good
We can’t trust our O-line but you guys want to put Tua out there with no protection but those 5? NOT going to happen Guaranteed.
No team really trusts their OL in 5 WR sets, that’s why they get the ball out quickly
Whatever MM decides to run, I expect it will be more of his doing, instead of what the D forces him to do
I think we saw a changing of the guard last year with Buffalo
We could’ve won all 3, quite a change from the previous several years
Buffalo getting blown the fuck out by Cincinnati kind of symbolized their decline
Diggs didn’t like what he saw, that’s why he’s pouting
We’ve got too many WRs, TEs and RBs
For WR after the top 4 it seems to be a competition between EZ, Cracraft and Wilson, at least 1 won’t make it
For RB one of or both Ahmed and Gaskin won’t make it
At TE I think the top 3 of Smythe, Saubert and Kroft are locks, then what do you do with Higgins and Conner? Put Higgins on the PS and hope he doesn’t get poached?
The national media might say we’re light on talent at TE, but I think MM loves what we have there
It’s his kind of lunch pail TE, no room for high priced sissy boys😁
True for now, but we might draft the best TE we can get next year.
As well as a MLB to replace Baker whose contract is up I think.
It’s not up, but we have an out, if he doesn’t fit
I know Hulk is gonna L-O-V-E this . . .
I was listening to WQAM, Omar Kelly was on, and he was talking about OTA’s and that Liam Eichenberg was getting a ton of reps at C, and that he was doing great there. He’s actually a much better snapper than Connor Williams, at least at this early stage compared to Williams when he made the change to C.
Eichenberg’s C success has been talked about quite a bit, wonder if they’d move him to C and put Williams back at LG
If Eichenberg can handle C well, our O-line just got much better with a good OG on either side with Williams and Hunt
Mike, he already had a good lineman on either side of him with Williams and Armstead…. I don’t see you point. You guys crack me up. Let’s move him let’s move him. Let’s take our probowl guard and make him a decent RT.
That still leaves RT kind of open
But there’s competition for that spot
I suspect Williams is gonna be better than Eichenberg at OG
So it would be interesting if he can play center
But taking reps at center might just be a way to give everyone familiarity in case of injury
it could be that Williams is holding out too and they needed SOMEONE to play center in OTA’s and mini camp.
Rock – it’s just finding a position where he’s comfortable. They obviously feel Eich is a starter, and despite Williams playing every snap at C last season, he had snapping issues. No reason to be so negative for no reason. Position changes happen so often on the O-line, and sometimes they work. If Eich sucks at C then odds are he will have seen his last chance. We brought in Isaiah Wynn who has played T in the NFL, but may move inside for us if necessary. You have to be realistic, Eich is going to get opportunities because they think he’s a capable player
I think it started out with Eichenberg at C just for cross training, but there’s seems to be something there
Williams had those 1 or 2 bad snaps a game, that blew up the play
If Eichenberg is a decent C, then leave him there either as a backup or starter, what ever works
Jackson and his new body might actually work out at RT
Alain is all over the place in this article, but I agree with his point, we aren’t going only as far as Tua takes us, if he gets hurt I think the team is still good enough to make the SB, winning it who knows
https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/news/miami-dolphins-should-be-good-in-2023-with-or-without-tua-tagovailoa
Yeah Eichenberg can snap a football. But does he still block like a pussy?
I’m changing Debbie Downer to Kenny Downer🤣
Now lighten up Francis!
Great movie reference 👍
The pussy is much tougher than the dick and balls. Just graze the balls and a man is doubled over while the pussy can birth a 15 pound baby and be back to work in a day or 2. I hope Eich blocks like a pussy. 🤣
I think it’s a combination of Williams didn’t participate in OTAs the team wanting to see if Eichenberg can play center.
^
That’s my take on the matter as well.

Anyone get that wild thunderstorm? Crazy lightning.
———–
The weather was severely wicked here for about 10 hours straight last night into this morning.
We had 2 tornado’s with one touching down and killing one person. The tornado took a SE path about 1 mile from my house then cut across the bay and damaged homes on Pensacola Beach also. Another person was struck by lightning and survived.
The Pensacola airport received 9.3 inches of rain yesterday, from midnight to midnight, most of which occurred during a six-hour time period. The highest hourly rain rate was 3.45 inches. They had to evacuate 140 people from a flooded apartment complex.
West Pensacola where I live – Recorded rainfall: 11.56 inches. My back yard is still flooded.
The lightning was really bad.
They are predicting more severe weather this evening.

I had Tivo set an automatic recording of it and looked at “upcoming” and it’s 7:30 pm tomorrow, 6pm today, 11:30am sunday, 11pm monday 4:30 tuesday etc If I didn’t have Tivo I would never get to see it. who’s in charge of that shit!?
