I like to check the depth chart on Ourlads.com to give myself an idea of what others think our depth chart might look like. By no means is this an “official” Depth Chart, it’s just some knowledgeable guesswork. The current Depth Chart on Ourlads which was updated as of 5/5/26 has the following starters at LB. They show a base 4-3 alignment but show only 2 LB’s, ILB Jordyn Brooks and WLB Tyrel Dodson and then DB Jason Marshall at Nickel Back. I like Tyrel Dodson, he’s been better than expected for sure, but his jersey may as well say Del Rio on the back, because he’s going to end up in a very similar situation that occurred 30 years ago. In 1996, Jimmy Johnson signed MLB Jack Del Rio to a 1 year contract. In the 1996 NFL Draft, Jimmy Johnson took LB Zach Thomas from Texas Tech in the 5th RD, Pick #154 overall. Zach Thomas came in here on fire and Jimmy Johnson fell in love, rightfully so. Jack Del Rio never played for the Dolphins, he was cut and the Zach Thomas era began. In the 2026 NFL Draft, Jon-Eric Sullivan selected LB Jacob Rodriguez from Texas Tech in RD 2, #43 overall. Two important details, Jack Del Rio was 33 YO in 1996, and Jacob Rodriguez isn’t Zach Thomas. Despite that, I’m telling you there is no way a healthy Jacob Rodriguez isn’t starting for the 2026 Miami Dolphins. That doesn’t mean Tyrel Dodson gets cut, but he might get traded. Rodriguez is the type of player that will bring some next level excitement to this team, and they will want him on the field ASAP!
Newly drafted 1st RD Pick (#27) CB Chris Johnson is listed as the starting LCB on Ourlads. I agree with that, the first round pick will be given every opportunity in the world to win that starting job and he should be able to take it. Opposite him is currently CB JuJu Brents at RCB, but that’s far less certain. Brents suffered a season ending foot injury in which he had surgery on following the Week 11 game against the Washington Commanders in Spain. He should be ready physically to play as long as there are no setbacks. The competition should be heavy at CB and former starter Storm Duck will probably want his starting position back. Storm Duck is also coming back from an injury, Duck injured his knee in Week 8 against Atlanta and had surgery on his knee following that game. He should also be ready by season’s start, but Duck had two injuries last year, an early ankle injury and then the season ending knee injury. I count 10 CB’s on the roster at the moment, and there’s always the possibility of picking up an inexpensive CB after roster cutdowns as well. Brents has good size and length at 6’3 198, and he has definitely flashed some signs that he could play.
EDGE and OLB should be interesting competition as well. Right now the competition at EDGE should be some of the heaviest because it’s really wide open. There’s third year player Chop Robinson who hasn’t shown any signs that he’s a starting DE or OLB. His play and playing time regressed and diminished last season compared to his rookie campaign. Although we didn’t invest a lot of draft capital into the EDGE position, we did draft LB/EDGE Trey Moore from Texas, kind of an undersized pass rusher in RD 4, #130 overall. We doubled down in RD 7 with EDGE rusher Max Llewellyn from Iowa, #238 overall. We also picked up a couple more EDGE rushers as UDFA’s in Mason Reiger from Wisconsin and EDGE rusher Rodney NcGraw from Western Michigan. In addition, in FA we signed Josh Uche from the Eagles and David Ojabo from the Ravens, and Robert Beal who we picked up from the Niners, as well as Dolphins who was drafted by us in 2023.
For the O-line, a constant source of Dolphins fan angst, Sully announced that the Dolphins will begin training camp with our first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft at #12, OT/OG Kadyn Proctor at LG next to LT Patrick Paul. That’s quite the sizable left side, with somewhere close to 700 lbs with Paul 330 and Proctor somewhere between 330 and 350. Last year’s 2nd RD pick, OG Jonah Savaiinaea will move to RG. It’s expected that RT will go to incumbent (when healthy) RT Austin jackson, but no doubt in my mind that Jackson is just keeping the spot warm for Kadyn Proctor if/when he either departs by end of contract or injury, whichever occurs first. Big Jonah better play well or he better watch 6th RD pick, #200 overall DJ Campbell from Texas (where else???) who will be closer than he appears in his side view mirror!
You guys were practically foaming from the mouth when we picked WR Caleb Douglas from Texas Tech (where else???) in RD 3, #75 overall. You just hated the pick but I think the kid is going to make an impact this season. He’s working hard, doing all the right things, and compared to the diminutive WR’s we’ve had here, this guy has the size and the attitude we want, he wants that damn ball and will fight to get it. At 6’3 1/2 205, he gives the QB a bigger target and will go and get the ball, and fights tough for yards after the catch as well. I don’t know if WR Chris Bell will see action early on, he may start the season on the PUP list or even IR, but our other 3rd RD WR draftee, #94 overall, will also eventually make an impact on this offense. My guess is that will come later than sooner, but that’s not especially important. I look forward to eventually seeing Douglas and Bell together, but we may have to be patient with that. We have veterans Jalen Tolbert from the Cowboys and Tutu Atwell from the Rams and of course Malik Washington as well. We also have Theo Wease who flashed a bit last season and we drafted a slot type WR Kevin Coleman in RD 5, #177 overall. Malik Washington and Coleman will no doubt be battling for the starting slot position, although Washington should be safe for return duties.
There will literally be competition at every position except for QB. Malik Willis will be starting, but I suppose Ewers may have to fight off Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski for the backup spot. I knw we drafted 13 guys, and be mindful that Sully and Haf took guys they really like, so those guys might just have a leg up on the guys that were already here, fair or unfair, that’s kind the way it is. They want to change the culture here, the team demeanor, and the best weay to do it is with a bunch of guys that buy into what you’re doing and just want to go out and be the best they can be for the coaches, the team, their teammates and themselves. I feel like in 2025, we had very little of that, with a few exceptions of course. I feel like we had a lot of “Me” players, and not nearly enough “We” players. That’s gonna change big time! That doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to win more than we did last season, we lost a lot of talent, but I do think this team will be more fun to watch this season as they grow, and maybe towards the end of the season, if WR Chris Bell is fully healthy, we’ll see the offense make some big strides and give us a nice glimmer of what might be in 2027.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

First!
Now I will go back and read. lol
Rock, I think it is a possibility they make a bid for Sorsby. With a big QB class next year, I don’t see any team giving up more than a 2027 2nd round pick. Jets, Cardinals Browns all have leverage over us with the draft order. If all teams bid a second rounder, the Jets would get him with Cards next, Browns then Dolphins.
I would hate for the Jets to get him. That would free them up to get Jeremiah Smith in the 1st next year.
The odds are they are going to get a good one next year, if they don’t take Sorsby in the supplementary draft There may be 6-8 QB’s taken in the first 20 picks next draft.
Thanks MikeE!
I only see 2 from this class starting just as Ourlads has it. Unless, like you said, someone like Dodson gets traded. I know Rams, Panthers and 1 other team still have a need at ILB. I could see Atwell and Tolbert as a possibility for a trade as well depending on what they see from the newly drafted WR’s and back half of the roster in Wease, Tahj and Henning. I don’t see either of them getting cut though due to both getting 100% guaranteed contracts.
Oh, and I count 11 CB’s on the roster. Was 12 but we released Matre to make some roster space.
his guy has the size and the attitude we want, he wants that damn ball and will fight to get it
But, historically has only won that battle for the ball 33% of the time. He is WEAK for his size.
BBM I feel we are going to be desperate for Edge next season, but Matayo Uiagalelei has me gun shy, I don’t trust Oregon Ducks at edge players anymore for some reason…..
Is that pronounced like Ukelele with the K subbing for the G?
I believe it’s “Wee-ah-gah-leh-lay.”
I feel the same way about Oregon Edge players. Uiagalelei is one of those bigger edge players and does have a good arsenal of pass rush moves. He is one to keep an eye on this season.
…or We-ahn-gah-luh-lei
Thanks Rich! Makes sense
rookie mini camp started today, I was right there in Miramar, should’ve snuck in
I’m watching Dolphin’s Collective and laughing because Omar and Alain are talking about 6th round pick D.J. Campbell’s ass. “he don’t have a low ass, it’s a tight ass, he has a high ass”
there’s some theory out there about the low ass being what you look for in an OG, Omar the assman has talked about it before, vaguely remember something like the low ass allows you to gain leverage, the high ass gets pushed around
I thought it was pad level that mattered not ass level. lol
Randy, does ass level matter or just pad level? lol
Their saying beside Proctor and Campbell all the rookies looked small and undersized in person.
They were, especially the LB’s and Edge Moore.
Alain says Taaffe looks like a highschool equipment manager. 😆
LOL, I am sure he does. He needs to get in the weight room.
Rock, this is one of the Edge/OLB I am watching for next draft. Clev Lubin, 6’3, 250 Louisville. I have taken him in the top of the 3rd in my mocks. He’s ranked as a late 2nd rounder but based on his last 2 seasons he will climb draft boards. I like his game.
I’m excited to see not just the rookies but the previous two years of young players.
BBMike – Proctor and Johnson must be your 2 definite starters, right? I can’t imagine there’s a world where Jacob Rodriguez isn’t on the field for this defense. I also think Douglas will be starting at WR and Kacmarek will be playing a shit ton at TE even with Dulcich here.
Proctor & Johnson sounds like a pharmaceutical company. 😆
Yup! Proctor and Gamble. Not really pharmaceuticals, but lots of household products
Don’t forget Johnson & Johnson!
who starts week 1 is irrelevant, matters more to see how many start by season’s end
I said at least 6, top 6 picks, plus Louis, Taaffe, Coleman and Campbell could all start a game or two some point this year
Kacmarek/Rodriguez don’t really fall into the oh no a rookie is starting category, but everyone else after the top 2 would
4 at most should start week 1
Yes, though, I am talking right now as how things appear. I think there will be a few players who could win starting jobs. The ones you mentioned, and I even think Campbell has a shot at winning the RG spot. His competition in Salyer and Jonah were 2 of the worse OG’s in the NFL last year.
I’m sure you all have seen that Jets gave Breece Hall a 3YR/$47.75M deal. Ante keeps going up for Achane
Nah, I hadn’t seen that, actually. That sucks.
Caleb Douglas’ collegiate injury history…
Fractured Fibula (September 2023): While playing for the Florida Gators, Douglas suffered a significant lower-leg injury—later confirmed as a fractured fibula—during a game against Kentucky. The injury occurred after he landed awkwardly following a 34-yard reception. This ended his sophomore season after just five games.
Hyperextended Knee and Bone Bruise (March 2025): During spring practices at Texas Tech University, Douglas was seen on crutches after suffering a hyperextended knee and bone bruise during a team scrimmage. Coach Joey McGuire confirmed the injury was non-surgical and did not expect it to be a long-term setback.
Minor In-Game Injury (November 2025): Late in his senior season, Douglas briefly left a game against West Virginia with an unspecified injury right before halftime but was able to return to the field later in the game
I’m trying to figure out why he was only able to jump 31.5″ high (VJ). At 6’3″ and 206 pounds — and with explosive traits everywhere else — it makes no sense that he can’t jump any higher.
He should have been able to break at least 35″ in the VJ. Remember, Proctor VJ’d a 32.5″ at around 350 pounds.
some guys just can’t jump high, his long arms make up for his low VJ
Perhaps so!
It’s Friday night! I just can’t understand why Caleb Douglas can’t jump! Is he actually… white? JK/LOL
LUV this song and the movie! Wesley and Woody were making movies like Pryor and Wilder… I enjoy the UNITY of it all, when times were much better regarding racial matters!
And just to set the record straight, YES… there are white men who CAN jump!
Who rocked the mustache better? John Oates or J-Rod?
Gotta say, Daryl Hall looks a little like Voldemort to me. lol
AGREED! 😆
In the spirit of Pryor/Wilder and Wesley/Woody, here’s a GRAND song!
Or translated to Phins fans, those who loved EZ-E… 😉
The Bee Gees featuring ‘Pac?!! This is 🔥!!!
Sorry…
Yeah, it won’t allow me to post it!
Let’s try this one more time. The Bee Gees featuring ‘Pac?!! WOW!
LUV this one!
Speaking of MC Skat Kat (Derrick ‘Delight’ Stevens), and the aforementioned Phil Bailey (from EWF), nice sample here!
My thumbstache body pillow arrived today. Gonna go great with my Matt Roth twin Sheet Set.
🤣
Paula Abdul once ‘famously’ confused Derrick ‘Delight’ Stevens (MC Skat Kat) in an interview for my guy Romany Malco of the College Boyz.
Here’s one more from my guy, Romany Malco…
I think Son and Mrs. Son will dig this, if they haven’t already heard it.
BBM,
I’m hesitant to talk about other guys’ asses….but here goes. If it’s a 3 point stance, you don’t want your hips being higher than your shoulders. Why? Because it probably means you’re off balance. 4 point stance is a little different because you may actually be dogging in to drive forward and down…making your ass being higher ok…kinda. It’s not how I’d coach it, but it can work.
In general, you always want to be in balance. That rarely entails having your ass higher than your shoulders. I don’t think people really know what pad level means, so I’ll just say that good balance leads to good pad level.
Thanks, good explanation!
Some of us were wondering why people were saying we got bigger and tougher. Outside of Proctor. It didn’t look that way to me. Johnson isn’t big. 6’, 190? Is that a big guy?
these guys will all fill out, but they’re done growing taller, lot of height at WR, CB the height they like, Kacmarek is huge
you can’t just add big guys, you do need to do it at the right positions, we had really short WRs, that alone is a big deal
You don’t have to be huge to be physical. It’s an attitude, and the guys we drafted like to mix it up.
Of course our guys are small, probably stupid too. Every other team has huge guys that are brilliant
They went 50/50 on going big, just not in some areas we thought they would. Proctor is huge, DJ Campbell while not huge he has good size. Even the UDFA OL they got are big in RT Cline and the Center from Iowa State is now the biggest Center on the roster. Went big on WR. It’s just at LB, Safety and Edge Trey Moore they went smaller. I hope some of them stay all summer in the weight room. Taaffe, I’m looking at you.
Big or smallish, I like our draft group.
I think a big EDGE setter will be a target next year, along with an OG, CB, and Safety. Obviously, a QB will probably be an early target too unless Willis really balls out.
Well, if Campbell has a high ass, I think it is evened out in a 3-point stance by having long arms, over 34″.
Yeah, his arm length and wingspan are really, really good. Outside of his height, which is average, everything else about his size and length is very, very good. He’s dependable, vocal, and definitely a people mover. I believe they will train him at center along with guard, but don’t quote me on that. He’s a great pick in the 6th round, in my opinion.
IOL at 6’3″ is a perfect height, leverage is key inside, any taller and leverage isn’t in your favor
Proctor has the strength to overcome his height, Campbell doesn’t
ah the mythical play speed
40 times matter, not the end all
Kevin Coleman is a great example of slow 40 time and fast play speed, he accomplishes this by keeping defenders off balance, then accelerating off of his fakes/plants (my definition of play speed)
watched an Omar video this morning, he was with the Miami Herald’s Smalls
Smalls likes Coleman, thinks he’s going to be the top contributor this season for the drafted WRs, I agree, don’t see rookie growing pains for him
I wonder if Castellanos can make enough of an impact to steal a roster spot on the 90 (91) man roster as a slot WR. He’s not fast for a WR but the guy can run after the catch and is built thick. Was a good runner when playing QB at FSU. He was just too short to be playing QB.
So Breece Hall is now the 3rd highest paid RB even though he ranked 10th out of the top 10 RB’s. Last year was the only season he broke 1000 yards rushing and did it just barely with 1065 yards rushing. He has never had more than 5 rushing TD’s in a season and last year had 4. In his 4 seasons he has fumbled 11 times losing 5.
Makes me think we will have to pay Achane 3yr, 50m.
Yeah, that was an unfortunate contract for Hall. We’re in a bad spot
Breece Hall is not worth that. Yes, I know that’s what he got, but the Jest overpaid big time. When I think of the top backs in this league, he doesn’t cross my mind.
@MLB
We mourn the passing of Hall of Famer Bobby Cox, the fourth-winningest manager in MLB history…
————-
RIP, Bobby. Many fond memories of the early 90s Atlanta Braves. And speaking of the Braves, owner Ted Turner passed away a few days ago. RIP, Ted Turner.
I don’t think it’s about whether Breece got overpaid, I think it’s about the market, and that market is going to get more expensive. Bijan Robinson, Jonathan Taylor, Jamyr Gibbs (yes he has his 5th year option exercised, but they’re still talking about extending him this offseason if possible), and Chase Brown all could see extensions.
Of them, only Chase Brown will likely fetch less than Breece just did. If Achane will sign for 3 years 48m today, I’d do that deal as fast as I could get the contract printed.
Great to see ya, old friend!
I agree, it’s about the market. Unfortunately, the market is going to dictate that Achane gets paid handsomely.
I find it… curious, as to how just a few years ago, the market for RBs was so low. Now suddenly, the market is back for RBs.
Greetings MF13! I agree with your statement on RBs.
I personally think in some cases the changes in the marketplace for certain positions is based on game evolution (IE, FB tanked bc the position evolved to H-Back mostly and that can be filled by other players like TEs and other RBs) and in other cases, like RB currently, markets are kind of cyclical. I think RB values bottomed out like 4-5 years ago, and this current batch of 24 year old RBs are proving that they might be worth paying a little more.
One evolutionary change that I think will be more permanent in RB pricing is contract length. Instead of lowballing good RBs I think teams will try to protect their downsides by limiting contract duration.
I don’t know what the consensus here is tbh, but I think Achane is one of those RBs you try to keep. And yeah, you’re gonna probably have to pay him in the price range BBM mentioned above. I am a little concerned that the longer we wait the more it’ll be, but I’m not a professional, so who knows, maybe they just tag him next year and go from there.
An article said that the 2027 Franchise Tag for a RB will be around 15.2m. Might as well pay him.
@BBM
I see. If I were him I’d want to get to 50m and probably 35 guaranteed (Breece got 30) I’d offer him 16.5m/year w the 1st 2 years guaranteed. But not only do I not know what the FO is thinking or offering, I have no idea where Achane’s camp is on his value. If I was his agent I would tell him the longer this goes on the better position we’ll be in, but I don’t see it going to more then 18m/year or more than 36-38 Guaranteed.
I agree
although Washington should be safe for return duties.
I bet we don’t see Washington return a single punt or KO in PS, Coleman is a true returner, Washington not so much
Washington might be Jack Del Rio
He’s not going to retire but yes Coleman is a threat for sure. I think Washington is what he is, I don’t expect him to go to another level. He’s a solid player but not a core guy.
The market is what it is like Jahn said. Achane deserves to be paid.
NHL playoff OT is horrible, teams don’t take chances and the games always seem to go to at least the 2nd OT
in reg season its 3v3 and very exciting
what say you Toba?
I’ve seen some reports that Mason Reiger fell in the draft because of injury and some had a 3rd round grade on him. He could be a sleeper on the edge and we have a lot of them competing,
I’ve seen them too, he said he’s fine, fully healthy
starting Edge might be his to lose
Yeah, I was very happy to see us signing him as a UDFA. I wanted him over Max Spinmove anyway. I believe they gave him a nice signing bonus to make sure they got him, but the contract hasn’t posted yet.
Steve: I do enjoy 3 on 3 and agree it is an exciting way to wrap up REGULAR SEASON GAMES, but I do not want playoff games decided by a shoot out
I would be fine if they wanted play 3 on 3 OT until there is a winner , without the shootout
I’m not suggesting they change it, just won’t watch much OT
guys like Reager are why I think its not a foregone conclusion we’ll have a bad record, its not a large percentage chance, maybe 10%
the more I read, see and figure out, the more I see that percentage going up
3 rookies will most likely start week 1, Proctor, Johnson and Kacmarek, don’t really see a problem starting those 3 and having a lot of rookie mistakes hurt
the rest of the rookies will probably see as much action as they can handle
last season and 2019 we couldn’t stop anyone to start the season, if we don’t have that issue it could be a fun season, with no pressure
We have good young talent at IDL along with Sieler. The defense may be better than expected.
good, we’ll need them to keep the OL off of our LBs, if they can our D could be fun to watch
Brooks is one of the best ILBs in the game and I think Rodriquez at the minimum shares snaps with Dodson. Gay Jr. is kind of a flex LB.
Coleman is a true returner, Washington not so much
and
Coleman is a threat for sure. I think Washington is what he is, I don’t expect him to go to another level. He’s a solid player but not a core guy.
———-
Wow, let’s just kick Malik Washington to the curb for some unproven rookie.
First of all, Coleman is only 5’10, 179 pounds. It’s going to be hard for him hold up a whole season returning punts in the “NFL”. He averaged 8.1 yards a return over the last 3 seasons in “college”.
Malik is built more dense at 5’9, 191 pounds and can take the hits. Malik ranked 8th in the “NFL” last year with a 13 yard average per punt return for players with 20 or more returns.
Second, I don’t see that Coleman is a sure “threat”. He’s not a burner. Malik is actually slightly faster with a 4.47 to Coleman’s 4.49 combine 40. Also, Malik tested athletically better in every category; the 40, 10 yard split, vertical, etc. Especially in vertical at 42.5″ to Coleman’s 38.5″.
and what do those numbers mean? Nothing, his play speed is what matters
I have no problem with Malik, think he’s overachieved so far, and his upgrade is ready to go🤣
His play speed is no faster than Malik.
Sully directly brought in competition for M. Washington with Coleman. Him and Hafley have said we need competition everywhere. They are both slot return guys. Let the competition begin!
Competition YES, but you guys are already handing Coleman the job.
not handing him anything, just think he’s the better returner and receiver
Malik’s 6.5 yards per reception, with no focus on him should worry everyone, I’d be OK with Tahj making the 53 and leaving Malik off
Malik’s PR skill is about all he’s got, not worthy of a spot on 53, if you ask me
My sleeper in our draft who makes the biggest impact is Kyle Louis as a nickel LB and SS. I think he was a Hafley pick.
Watching Edge Trey Moore, he’s really versatile. He lined up at ILB, OLB and Edge. You see him covering TE’s 30+ yards down the field. He’s another one who will be interesting to see how Hafley uses him.
Louis, Moore, Rodriguez, Johnson, Reager, and even Taaffe, seems like Sully has brought our D into the 21st century
Knicks sweep the Sixers. They look really good, and should be a tough match up for anyone the way they’re playing
Malik’s 6.5 yards per reception, with no focus on him should worry everyone, I’d be OK with Tahj making the 53 and leaving Malik off
Malik’s PR skill is about all he’s got, not worthy of a spot on 53, if you ask me
————-
Okay, cut Malik for an under 5’10 WR who weighs 174 pounds and has done nothing in his 2 years in the NFL but have a bad fumble. Got it!
Malik’s 6.5 yards per reception was not bad considering over 75% of his targets were behind the LOS. All MM practically did was have him run screen passes except when Waddle was out. That % goes up over 85% if you count passes within 4 yards of the LOS, fact.
If these young pups do bite, I could see Malik as a trade candidate since he is “not one of their guys”. If Malik is not traded, Tahj will be a cut.
where are you getting your data?
Don’t remember them throwing him an overwhelming amount of passes behind the LOS
You are correct sir, watching his highlights the first 4 passes were all -4 behind LOS, next at LOS, next -2, not watching further MM is an idiot, Malik looks better than I rembered
Malik was grossly misused last year, he doesn’t break tackles, not fast enough, not shifty enough and yet MM treats him like he did with Jonnu the year before
Didn’t make it through the whole video, but I think it’s fair to say that Chris Johnson has the potential to play all over the Secondary… yes, even as a Safety at times, if Hafley so wishes.
DARE I say… Chris Johnson has the potential of a Jalen Ramsey. I said POTENTIAL, not saying he’s going to be the next Ramsey.
He’s absolutely my favorite pick of our ’26 Draft class.
BALL HAWK!!!
taking OT, who can also play OG, then taking a do it all CB also in the first tells me Sully values premium positions in the first and versatility, just like GB does, true to form
I really don’t know what he’s trying to say here, besides Johnson can play the slot
sure Ramsey played it at times, to have your #1 CB playing slot too often is a waste
^
I don’t like below average measurables, unless you can do something that stands out
that’s why I think Coleman eventually replaces Malik
Coleman is small and not exactly fast, his shiftyness and quickness are exceptional
Malik in a transition season can play an important role, until the rookies are ready, after that not sure what he provides that others can’t
Phinsider proposed this question
Dolphins fans sound off on what QB Malik Willis will need to show this coming year to earn the starting role long term.
the answers were what you’d expect from that site, no one really answers the question properly
what I think he needs to do is continue to do what he did last year
he really didn’t get much of a chance to go win a game at the end, so he’ll also need to be able to win games, when he gets the ball and within a score and comeback ability
I don’t think we’re void of talent. It’s just different and a new approach. I’m looking forward to it.
Steve, I agree that Malik lacks the quick shiftiness that Coleman has.
The full NFL regular season schedule will be released Thursday night.
Leaks are starting to come out this morning.
Harbaugh and the Giants will open the 2026 season with a Sunday night nationally televised game on NBC — Sept. 13 against the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
I don’t want Willis doing much of anything. All he needs to do is not turn over the ball and make the simple plays. Nothing special. Play within yourself and make the right plays.
In order to show he is the future Willis needs to show that he raises the play of those around him. He needs to show he can throw the ball on time and accurately. He needs to show that he can make good decisions and go to the right place with the ball. (not just make a completion, but the RIGHT completion)
Finally, he needs to prove that he doesn’t shrink to the occasion. (Play well on 3rd down, and the end of the halves) If he shows he is “OK” then we need to draft a QB in the first round next year.
Chris Johnson is a CB prospect in the 2026 draft class. He scored a 9.82 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 52 out of 2822 CB from 1987 to 2026.https://t.co/u1NM1dInPy pic.twitter.com/IptDkKgXSj— RAS.football (@MathBomb) March 18, 2026
Damn! that is top 1% That is some ELITE grading.
Hail the Thumbstache!
🎥 Louis Riddick on Jacob Rodriguez and Kyle Louis: “At the Senior Bowl, they kicked everybody’s ass, all three days of practice. I was sitting there, my jaw was hitting the floor how good these guys looked… they will be the foundation of that defense.” (@DolphinsTalk) #PhinsUp pic.twitter.com/rMuGYmE0aA
I don’t see any way that he is not on the field all the time from Day 1
I think there is a lot of potential in our Rookies and 2nd year players. I hope they all ascend in skill level, but counting on 13 rookies and however many UDFA that make the team to compete year 1 is unwise and very unlikely. I think we will lose a bunch of games this year do to growing pains. I am hopeful that we have a tough young nucleolus of players that can be the foundation of good teams for years to come. Maybe. This year may just turn out perfect for the future of the franchise with the 2nd hardest schedule in the league and a very inexperienced team it is set up so well as an “organic” tank season. I just hope we don’t wind up winning “worthless” games to keep us out of the best draft positioning next season.
I WANT TO DRAFT AND GROW OUR OWN FRANCHISE QB. A BIG 6’4″ BUCK THAT CAN MOVE IN THE POCKET AND SLING IT ACROSS HIS BODY 60 YARDS DOWN FIELD ON A ROPE.
6’1″ Scrambler is not the guy IMO.
let’s take it one step at a time, we have the 6’1 guy now, let’s see how he plays before we exile him
I see him capable of making all the throws, he’s all I need right now
15ish rookies making the team is a lot, most won’t be plan A, so I don’t have a problem cause we won’t be counting on them or putting too much pressure on them IMO, as long as Proctor and Johnson play well we’re good
the rest will be sprinkled in with as much work as they can handle, this season won’t have a Jonah thrown in with no plan B
If we are drafting top 10, then I hope it is top 3. If we are drafting top 10 it absolutely has to be a QB IMO.
2026 Miami Dolphins Scheduled OTA Dates:
Additional 2026 Offseason Dates:
I posted a while back, nice to see it again
would be nice to have it on top near the schedule location, draft class permanently too
I can see a spot with playing time for 8 2025 draft picks, 13 2026 draft picks and 2 or 3 UDFAs, almost half the roster
training camp/OTAs are going to be busy, Hafley and his staff need to getter done
Rock, I don’t think finding a QB with size is going to be an issue next draft. Of the top 10 only Julian Sayin and John Mateer are 6’1. Sam Leavitt is 6’2 and the other 7 are 6’3 or 6’4.
What’s even crazier about the 2027 QB class is that top 10 didn’t include 6’3 Dylan Raiola, 6’3 Byrum Brown, 6’3 DJ Lagway or the 6’6 Nico Iamaleava.
It also didn’t include the 6’3 Brendan Sorsby who is still up in the air is he plays in college or is in the supplemental draft this year.
Two of the top 5 are not good runners in Dante Moore and Julian Sayin. Mensah is not the greatest of runners either but can scramble in the pocket. Sometimes he leaves the pocket too early.
Ok, but I don’t just want any 6’4 guy. I want the future HOF guy! Or at least the guy I can point to inside the division as the best QB….which is tough when we already have Allen and 3rd year Pat’s QB who has already been to the SB.
I think the best prospect in that regard is Manning.
I HATE the idea of taking Manning though. LOL
There is too much being put on his name.
Dolphins signed a full back today. DJ Herman, a line backer out of San Diego State. 6’1″ – 235lbs He tried out during the rookie camp and won himself a job.
Interesting
Herman participated in Miami’s rookie minicamp last weekend on a tryout basis. He played collegiately at San Diego State (2021-25), where he appeared in 49 career games with two starts at linebacker. He recorded 56 tackles (26 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss and two passes defensed with the Aztecs and was a key contributor on special teams.
I still think I would bid a 2027 2nd round pick for Sorsby if he is in a supplemental draft. My only knock on him would be not stepping into his deep throws and the float a little. He’s got the arm strength to drive the ball deep.
I really don’t like the idea of drafting a guy who addicted to gambling. Over 10K bets in 2 years!? I would bid a 3rd tops.
place a 3rd round bid in the suplimentary draft and if we get him, ok, if not no skin off our nose so to speak.
Yeah, I was initially thinking 3rd myself.
Kind of looks like Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield had a baby in the photo. lol
Sorsby is 6’3, 235.
LOL I see it.
I didn’t realize that Jacob Rodriguez is actually bigger than Zach Thomas was when he was drafted. Here is what Thomas had to say about Rodriguez
When asked about how Rodriguez compares to him, Thomas made it clear that he felt the young linebacker was better than him.
“He got the Nagurski. He got the Butkus. He got all these awards, and I’m so proud of him. He deserves it, and he earned it.” He said. “So, they should never try to compare him to me. He’s going to be better.”
From your mouth to God’s ears Zach!
Yeah, Zach being under 6′ was why he fell to 5th
Cowboys to host Eagles on Thanksgiving in Week 12 on FOX
its not surprise we haven’t had any leaks yet, since we aren’t playing a prime time game
Thomas was always self deprecating. Very modest. If he wants to make a bet on whether or not Rodriguez will be better than him, I’ll sell a kidney and take it! Lol
I hope Rodriguez is a student of the game like Zach was. That’s what made Zach what he was. He had other qualities as well but his ability to diagnose a play and get there was very good. And, let’s not forget….as Zach often said, self deprecating of course…he had big TimBo keeping him clean. You don’t get to run sideline to sideline if blockers are constantly getting on you.
He gives Rodriguez a great standard to which he can aspire. I hope he is the next Zach. That would be great. Get close…I’d take that too. 🙂
100%
where Rodriguez is at now, just like with Zach when he started, is no where near where he’ll be at his prime, its what he does during his career, that will determine his career
I’m talking about his preparation with his mind and body, Zach took care of his body with that chamber in his house and his study habits were 2nd to none
if Zach wants to help him out, that’s what he needs to hear
actually the study habits of Rodriguez at TT are what made him stand out, so no one needs to tell him that
Just take care of your body young man
Field Yates came up with a list of 20 rookies that he thinks will have immediate impact on the teams. 3 of the 20 are Dolphins.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/48702987/2026-nfl-draft-rookie-year-impact-middle-late-rounders
Caleb Douglas, WR, Miami Dolphins (No. 75)
Several Miami receivers could make this list, as the Dolphins have the thinnest wideout room in the league. But I chose Douglas because of his inside-outside versatility over fellow third-rounder Chris Bell, who is recovering from a November ACL tear, and fifth-rounder Kevin Coleman Jr.
At 6-foot-3, 206 pounds, Douglas has the size profile of a perimeter wideout, but he also saw snaps as Texas Tech’s big slot last season. His blazing speed (4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash) should also help him crack the lineup early.
Jacob Rodriguez, LB, Miami Dolphins (No. 43)
Rodriguez boosted his stock as much as anyone in the 2026 draft class over the past year. He is rangy, instinctive and intelligent, and he has a rare ability to generate turnovers (he forced seven fumbles and intercepted four passes in 2025).
The Dolphins are at the ground floor of their rebuild, but pairing Rodriguez with veteran inside linebacker Jordyn Brooks is reason for excitement. Rodriguez will be a team leader and a productive player in no time.
Kyle Louis, LB, Miami Dolphins (No. 138)
Louis was one of my favorite players to watch on tape during the predraft process, as he was everywhere on film at Pitt. He doesn’t have prototypical linebacker size (6-foot, 220 pounds), but Louis can flat-out fly and cover. He is going to find a role quickly with the Dolphins — be it at weakside linebacker or box safety. New coach Jeff Hafley should be able to tap into Louis’ unique skill set.
Unless he wasn’t including first rounders, Johnson and Proctor should make it five and then there’s Chris Bell who in time may prove to be the best pick Sulley made in this draft
Yeah, the list was for “middle to late rounders”
if we truly are run first I think in no time we’ll see Douglas and Kacmarek playing on 1st downs (starting)
if can run the ball, which will be aided by Willis, there’s no reason to think Malik won’t thrive
Except that this is year 4 in the league of him and he hasn’t yet…
why were drafts mostly bad under Grier, when he lived on getting value with each pick?
is value over-rated?
I guess we’re going to find out, since Sully drafted several before their expert slotted spots
my thoughts are, if you just take your guys, and forget about value you may have a better success rate
you want a big WR, that is fast and can block, you ho get Douglas
you want a blocking TE Kacmarek…
Right.
You want a 370lb Guard you get Proctor
2026 NFL schedule release: Chiefs, Broncos to face off in ‘Monday Night Football’ season premiere.
A location for the game has yet to be finalized.
The Bills will host the Detroit Lions in their first game at the new, $2.1 billion Highmark Stadium. That Week 2 meeting will be the first Thursday Night Football broadcast of the season and will kick off at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 16 in Orchard Park, N.Y. and air on Prime Video.
not to be confused with the Thursday night game week 1 the Seahawks host
That’s usually on NBC with everyone’s favorite- Collinsworth
From an article on Kyle Lewis;
He has 50 pressures over the past two seasons alone!
Someone needs to tell Simon Clancy at Dolpins Talk that Pressures don’t matter…
I hope the Dolphins get ZERO Thursday games, ZERO Friday games and ZERO Saturday games.
For that matter, I hope we get Zero Monday Night games and no Sunday night games either. I realize that some of you guys ONLY get to see the prime time games, but I hate them. My Football slot is 1pm Sundays.
I think I am going to take my old Tyreek Hill Jersey and make a “Thumbstache” placard and iron it on right over Hill’s name.
LOL
Thus I will avoid the curse of the jersey while having one of my favorite rookie…
I don’t like the rule change in 2021 that allowed all these wrong numbers to be worn by the wrong positions. #10 IS NOT A LINEBACKER NUMBER! (yeah, I know he wore 10 in college, but in the NFL it should not be allowed!)
I agree, except I don’t mind backs and receivers in single digits and teens.
not to be confused with the Thursday night game week 1 the Seahawks host
——————-
Seahawks opening game is on Wednesday night not Thursday.
The Thursday game is Rams vs 49er’s in Australia and will be televised on Netflix. So, it’s not the official “Thursday Night Football”.
This is one of the local fishermen I follow on youtube. He was a local inshore guide up until 7 years ago. His video from 2 days ago he had at least a dozen 7-10′ hammerhead sharks swim down the beach in the shallows to the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier then turned out when they got to the pier. Video starts right at that point.
That’s cool
I’ve been in the water here in Sebastian and seen hammerheads jumping thru the waves 20′ in front of me
last weekend I was in the water and a black tip reef shark was riding a wave I was about to jump thru
the best was the spinner shark, it was about 50′ in front, stayed airborne about 2 seconds and did 3 full spins
the manta rays are quite interesting too, they jump straight up
Wow! They’re huge, the ones I’ve seen have been about 4′, that’s really cool
Wow, that was a short lived career!
Dolphins place Moss on the reserve/retired list
May 12, 2026 at 04:00 PM
Moss signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 8, 2026. He played collegiately at Texas A&M (2022-25), where he appeared in 32 career games with 20 starts in four seasons and totaled 321 rushing attempts for 1,767 yards (5.5 avg.) and 22 touchdowns, along with 24 receptions for 236 yards (9.8 avg.). He was named to the 2024 All-SEC second team and helped the Aggies reach the College Football Playoff in 2025.
Damn, that sucks! I liked him but that is why he went undrafted, significant injury history.
Down to just 5 RB’s on the roster. They will probably add another for TC and preseason. Maybe another UDFA.
in terms of filling out a depth chart
RB is probably the easiest position to fill out
we have 3 good ones near the top of our depth chart. Hopefully we don’t have to dip into 4 on the depth chart
The competition at the position groups on the roster look pretty good to me. It promotes competition and very few locks. It will be earned. That’s not always the case with an established team. The new culture begins at 53.
I love ALL the competition, except at QB…lol
QB competition usually means you don’t have a QB
besides his 6’1 frame what don’t you like about Malik?
I didn’t say I didn’t like Malik…I thought I was clear that I didn’t think they made it competitive..
lol
We “have” a QB? For now? Franchise? Lol!!!
Between being on the wrong side of the salary cap and that there looked to be only one true franchise QB this past Draft, there was no way we could have landed a BIG name QB.
However, we got the next best thing in the young and upcoming Malik Willis. Could he become a franchise QB? Possibly. I can’t say definitely or definitely not, but possibly.
Doesn’t really matter, being we are highly likely to draft our franchise QB next Draft.
I’m tired of the word “franchise” with QBs who haven’t proven big time results. You draft a good QB who might become a franchise QB. The QB of the moment is not necessarily a franchise QB. That title is for special and there are only a few of them.
It’s all semantics and/or ‘epic-jargon’ (LOL), but I 100% agree with your sentiment. The term “franchise QB” is simply over-used and used out of context.
As someone that is kinda forced to follow the Packers, I am of the opinion that Malik has a chance to be a very good QB for this franchise. I thought GB looked better and moved the ball easier with him under center. The sample size is small but GB doesn’t make the playoffs without him.
Now how that translates here is to be seen, but he is not going to curl I p into the fetal position in moments you need him. For that, I am excited and hopeful.
^
That’s where I’m at as well, ER. Good to read ya!
Yep! That’s why they signed him.
Catching up on all the draft talk.
What wild swings here! 😆
Starting to get that itch that only the doldrums bring.
I think I have an idea what our defense will look like. It really lines up as a 4-4-3 with boundary corners and high safety. The back 4 is a mix of LB and DB with 4 always rushing up front. This draft highlighted that scheme.
sounds like you have Louis as the starting S and he’ll be playing out of the box in base, then wherever, that could happen
I think Taaffe fits in the equation too. Hafley likely won’t put too much on Louis early in the season
the D is going to be more morphed, similar to the way Flores used multiples
think you are right with the assumption, that most of the defenders we drafted play multiple positions
Kenneth Grant is the same 1st round pick on defense last year as Kayden Proctor is on offense this year. The new regime sees this as a good start building from the inside out. These two guys are very large individuals who love football. Chris Grier drafted plenty of good players but failed building a good team. These two guys are part of the new beginning.
Kenneth Grant and Kayden Proctor are those big boys that starts that Ravens type of team we’ve always envied. Sully inherited one of them and Hafley gets to coach both of them. 🙂
Good point, Grant also big and athletic for his size. I hope Proctor doesn’t have a bad season like Grant did
besides Johnson, I’d say the rest of the rookies on D will be playing in a rotation, gone are the days with guys on DL playing 99+% of the snaps. Move em around, switch em in/out keep em fresh (rookies), including Reager
Hafley doesn’t want to be locked with defenders, that can’t play multiple positions. He doesn’t want to substitute players, if the O goes fast
Hafley’s biggest challenge will be using smoke and mirrors early in the season with the rookies, keeping the right mix on the field, not too many at a time, to minimize rookie mistakes and them getting punked
I wouldn’t say Grant had a bad season. He had a rough start but got better as the season progressed. Maybe he didn’t produce or impact the game like we wanted a #13 overall pick to do. He still had 33 total tackles with 2 sacks/5 QB hits and 1 batted ball. Phillips had 34 total tackles with 0 sacks/1 QB hit.
The top rookie DT sack leader was Darius Alexander with only 3.5 sacks. Then Derrick Harmon with 3 sacks and then Grant and Nolen with 2 sacks each.
The top rookie DT Mason Graham had 49 total tackles and only a 0.5 sack but played 209 more snaps than Grant.
I would say Grant had a decent rookie season due to the fact he got better as the season went on. Not to mention Grant and Phillips eating up blockers that doesn’t show up in the stat line. This allowed our LB’s to feast and enabled Jordyn Brooks to lead the NFL in tackles and Dodson be 16th in tackles.
Ha! owe you a beer! I started writing my comment 10 minutes ago, but my boss walked in my office so I dumped the screen. LOL
I agree his play wasn’t bad.
lol
I don’t know if I would say that Grant’s play as a rookie was bad per se, to me it was more disappointing in the point that Jordan Phillips a 5th round guy and Zeek Biggers a 7th round guy performed almost as well.
Now I didn’t sit and break down tape, the opinion was formed from watching the TV broadcast that follows the ball and not the lines.
Not all rookies are the best they can be right away either. But we have more than just this recent draft to build on. The team is really made up of 24-26.
With the addition of Thumbstash, some have mentioned trading Dodson prior or during the season for a future pick.
I think it is more likely that they would trade Jordyn Brooks over Dodson. Dodson was the defensive QB last year, not Brooks. Dodson took the defensive play calls from the sideline and got everyone lined up every game he played. He would be the one to groom Thumbstash.
Rams, Bengals and Panthers all still have a need at ILB. I bet we could get a 2nd rounder from any one of them for Brooks.
I hadn’t realized that Achane’s shoulder injury 2nd to last game of last season was still effecting him.
https://phinphanatic.com/miami-dolphins-assistant-lit-a-match-and-walked-away-with-latest-de-von-achane-update-01kreq149nj7
I have to play editor in Mike E.’s defense and bust your balls…it’s affecting, not effecting.🤣
Thank you! I always get those reversed! LOL
Affect -Verb
Effect – Noun
No mention of his starter at RB so far….
You’ve got a bunch of additions on the offensive line, tight end, a quarterback that runs a sub-4.4. What excites you most about designing a run game around the pieces you have this year?
Bobby Slowik: There’s a lot of different ways to attack people, I’d say that’s the No. 1 thing. And the cool thing so far is, you watch the guys up front, they enjoy doing drills every day. Again, right now it’s not a whole lot of scheme. It’s a whole lot of fundamentals. It’s a lot of technique. It’s a lot of fitting on combinations. We’re doing that every day we’re out here, but there is no getting bored right now. I mean, they are all about it. They’re all in it. They work their tails off. And then you go to the running backs, those guys are putting in work. Ollie (Gordon II) is out there working his tail off. J. Wright (Jaylen Wright) is out there working his tail off. Like guys are really, really getting after it. I think the other part that’s been really fun in the run game has been the receivers. We’ve only just scratched the surface of the run game with the receivers, but they want to know it all. They want to make sure that they’re involved. They want to make sure that they stand out when we are running the ball, they’re not just pass game catchers. So I’d say the whole offense as a whole is really excited for what we can do.
blah, blah, blah no different than any other new coach around the league saying what people want to hear
I can see how WRs blocking is real, let’s see, if he’s saying the same thing during PS
no WR on our roster has achieved the right nit to block, so there’s that
Wow, I didn’t realize Willis is sub 4.4
Bobby disagrees with some of you about the difficulty of moving from left to right vs the difficulty of moving from T to G.
Bobby Slowik: Like I already mentioned, he’s a really big human with great feet and good movement skills, and quite honestly, when you can do that, you could play anywhere up front. Now he played mainly left side in college, so we’re going to keep him on the left side whether it’s guard or tackle. That’s the bigger transition more often than not, when you start flipping guys sides up front and they’re not used to it, that’s generally harder than like, tackle to guard situations. I’d say the only thing that changes is it’s a hair faster at guard and there’s a hair more space when you’re out at tackle, and that’s about the extent of the difference. He’s having fun and he’s really embracing where he’s at right now and we’ll see what that looks like. Really fast, big man.
I hope he stays and flourishes at LG. Him and big PP next to each other for years. Draft someone for RT next year. We have depth for RT this year if Jackson goes down.
what I want to know is, if Jonah’s issues last year had to with him not having the ability to wipe with his off hand🤣
Miami Dolphins will play no international games in 2026
That’s good news for the USA fans!
and the international ones
Just hearing as I right this Crabbs saying no int games
Tackle and guard need different abilities. Not every ability is different but some are. You can be slower at guard and have so-so feet. You can’t at tackle. I’d say power is more important at guard, for instance. If tackles and guards are interchangeable why don’t teams just draft the best athlete every time and put him wherever they want? Techniques are similar but not the same. Guards rarely need to utilize a kick step, for instance. Guards utilize their punch much more. His comments are kinda circular.
His statement that made sense to me was: “…great feet and good movement skills, and quite honestly, when you can do that, you could play anywhere up front.” That’s the truth of it and what I’ve said for years…and kinda counters his point anyway. If it’s that basic, why does Proctor need to stay on the left side? Probably simply because he’s more comfortable on the left side. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn’t mean he can’t do it. Slowik is being a little too basic to me.
Just plug the kid in somewhere and let him play. I sure hope Jonah doesn’t have the same side preference since his ass is moving. Lol
LT to LG is 1/2 step
LT to RG is 1 step
last year Jonah going from RG to LG was 1 step, he needed to get acclimated to the NFL before he took any steps
MM is an idiot
its so obvious Jonah had no confidence last year, like he was playing with happy feet
did I mention MM is an idiot
