Sssssssssssssssssssssssuper Bowl XLIX (that’s the sound of air leaking out of the title)

I can’t recall a Super Bowl where I have l less of an interest in the outcome of the game. I despise both teams, despise the Head Coaches of both teams, and especially the methods both teams choose to employ to circumvent the rules. We all hate Bill Belichick, somewhat because he’s a divisional foes Head Coach, GM and Emperor, and mostly because he’s a liar, and a cheater.

I also hate Pete Carroll, and it’s impossible for me to think of anything but him standing on the sidelines all smug with his hand to his neck pimping the choke sign to our kicker Pete Stoyanovich.

His players have racked up more suspensions, and have taken as many steroids and other PED’s as Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco combined.

BTW – Is this Superbowl Ex-Lax? (XLIX)  It is for me . . .

What I do look forward to is the delusional thought that after the SB, the Patriots will be hit with a severe punishment, suspending Palpatine, er Belichick for the entire season as a penalty for cheating. I think as Dolphins fans we all know that’s not going to happen. Justice will not be served against the Patriots, it never is!

After the SB, the next thing as a football fan is all the hoopla regarding the NFL Draft, which, BTW, is no longer in NYC, and will now be in Chicago, April 30 – May 2 in the Auditorium Theater. That will be different. No longer will we see the cretinous NY Jets fans yelling incoherent things before and after every pick. Instead, we might hear shouts of “Ditka!” or “Da Bears!”, or “Mini Ditkas!”. Who knows, it may actually be less entertaining, or it might be an improvement. We’ll find out soon enough, as it’s already January 29th, and April 30 is only 3 months away.

What about our Dolphins? Do we cut Mike Wallace? Hartline? Both? Do we trade back, or do we trade up? Do we take the BPA, or do we take our biggest need? What is our biggest need? O-line? (AGAIN!!!) DT? CB? LB? WR? TE? RB? Depending upon which players are sent packing, it all might change so fast, and new positions may end up clearly being the biggest need.

In any case,  I love the draft. Love it! There’s nothing like the promise of infusing potential young talent into your football team. As fans, most of us who really dig into the draft tend to compile our favorites, our “mancrushes” so to speak, and when we don’t get them (As is usually the case), we pout, we are petulant, and we lash out at our know-nothing GM (whoever it may be), and sit in dismay and utter disbelief that the scouting department, comprised of likely 30-50 very qualified people know substantially less than we do, especially since we watch a lot of college ball (not me), or because we read all the scouting reports put out there by amateur draft “experts”, or even the semi qualified draft “experts” like the guys who have been in the NFL for many years like Pat Kirwan, Charlie Casserly, Gil Brandt etc . . . Yeah, we do it every year, and every year we become the “experts”, and not to disparage anyone, because I think some of you guys really do know what you’re talking about, yet still, in comparison to the information that our scouts and personnel professionals have, it pales in comparison.

I hope you all enjoy the big game, maybe win a box pool, hopefully don’t get indigestion, or worse diarrhea. Don’t throw up on your friends couch, don’t throw the remote at the TV when the Patriots or Seahawks win, and bet with your head, not over it.

Maybe some of you can convince your wife that you need a new TV for the big game (amazing how often that one works!) and you can get a hold of a big 70” 4K UltraHD TV. That would be cool. I’d bet in 4K, you can probably see Palpatine, rather than Belichick. I can’t prove that, I don’t have a 4K TV, but if any of you do, and see it, please let me know, and if you can upload it to the site here, that would be even better! Thanks!

Enjoy the Superbowl! GO P, naw, Go S, nah, ahhh, WHO CARES!!!

Marshall Lynch has had 2,033 regular season attempt. I have a theory that backs who have carried 2,000 times have no tread left on tires

    Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly
It should be pointed out Frank Gore has 2,442 regular season carries on his resume. But he rushed for 1,106 yards and 4.3 per carry last yr

    Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly
Lamar Miller had 39 fewer carries than Frank Gore last season and rushed for 7 fewer yards (1,099) and scored 4 more touchdowns.

I think the point Omar is missing here, is Gore wouldn’t be coming in here as a workhorse feature back, I think he’d be a good compliment back for Miller.

  7. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I like Gore a lot, but I’m not sure he’s what we need, not at his age, when things really start going wrong. Get a young guy in here who you can develop, and don’t overpay for Gore.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

You like what Moreno did to the Pats in week 1? Gore offers that and more, he’s a leader too.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yeah, and like Moreno, he could end up on IR. He’s 31, that’s usually a bad age for RB’s. He’s got a whole lot of carries in those legs. Like I said, I really like him, but I’d like to draft another big back as well. I guess we’ll see where we’re at cap wise.

  8. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

I think when it comes to RB we have Miller, Williams, Gilisslee coming back and a draft loaded with decent guys who can be had later so to me its Gurley or bust. I wouldn’t take any back early except Gurley and then only if he checks out good medically.
We need too many other positions to make back a priority unless that player is very special.

Oh and tell the Giants to give Darkwa back.

  9. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Crockett from NDSU would be a great compliment to Miller. Varga would be a perfect power compliment who has great 1 cut ability and pure power to destroy defenders.

  10. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

The FA money needs to be spent on DT (run stopper) & G, then look at other positions with what’s left as it stands today. That could change soon, except for the DT(we’re losing either Starks, Odrick, or both) & G.

  11. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

This team needs to quit trying to sign other teams castoffs who had attitude issues and put them in leadership positions. It undercuts the young players that you want to develop into team leaders. That’s why I’m good with wholesale changes in the WR room, make Landry that leader.

  12. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Any of you guys think we re-sign Starks and Odrick? I have a feeling both are out.

    • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

I’d leave that up to Suh. LOL

    • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Perhaps Odrick, but I think we have a rotation of players that can do his job. I think we will pay for a big fat boy like Dan Williams to keep blockers off our LB’s.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

I’d see if we can resign Odrick to a reasonable deal. His numbers are actually better than Dan Williams over their careers, last year was a down year some stat wise for Odrick. But he’s younger than Starks.
If you let them both go, then you might want to put a play on for Suh to help cover the huge hole you just opened up.

      • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Different type of players. Williams is a block eater and better in the run game. Odrick, Mitchell, Starks, Johnson are all slashing penetrating DT’s who where down easily trying to eat blocks. Odrick is a better athlete and pass rusher, but we need the fat guy.

  13. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Do you think we need a solid 2nd back to share the load with Miller in today’s NFL game to sustain drives & make defenses honest so the passing game is more dangerous?

If you do, then do you think that guy is still unproven Williams or Gillislee? It damn sure wasn’t DT3.
Do you think a rookie RB can be that guy? With so few picks do you select a RB in the front half of the draft?

Now Gore seems more appealing if Aponte & Hickey can free up enough money and play our cards right with other FA’s.

  14. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

I’d love to trade down in the first and pick up Jordan Phillips at DT. Kid is 6’6″ 334lbs and athletic enough to drop into coverage.

    • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Davis scares me like RGIII a did in 2012. Great talent but huge????? Of whether he really wants to play football. RGIII had to be begged to comeback to play for Baylor after he quit because he didn’t like getting called out in front of the team for poor plays. Davis supposedly had piss poor interviews at the senior bowl and let be known that he only wanted to be a part time player at Iowa and didn’t give max effort. He seems like a guy that wants his payday and will become content until he’s up for a new contract. Physical talent is there, but I don’t know if the drive is.

I always wonder about those interviews. Some team may be trying to push him back so they can have him. OR, maybe it’s legit. It could be a lot of smoke.

    • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Interviews kind of matchup with field play. Goes from looking like a round3-4 player to a dominant top 15 type of player at senior bowl week. That’s why I tend to give credence to the report.

  20. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

I like Carl Davis, I think he made LTP look good occupying blockers. Unless he interviews shitty again when teams call him in for one on ones then he’ll likely be a 2nd round pick…if he keeps talking like he has poor work ethic, then he could fall 3rd-4th round easily.

  21. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Think of Seantrel Henderson when you think of Carl Davis.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yes. that’s kind of what I said in the article today. Right now, my hunch is we let Stark and/or Odrick walk, and rebuild. I think we need a more dominant presence next to Mitchell, so he can do his thing.

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

I don’t see Hickey letting both Odrick & Starks walk, that would be hard to make up for, especially when him & Philbin are in a WIN NOW box.

Other than Clay I’m not keeping any FA’s unless they want to take a hometown discount!

    but Draft-em

And let the record be what it will be!

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

That is the best way long term, but again Hickey & Philbin are dead men walking unless they find a way to get a STAY.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Isn’t clay one of our draft picks? he’s gonna demand what the market is. And we have to pay it to keep him. hometown discounts are an illusion.

I really don’t care how much we pay a player that helps us win. Its not my money they’re spending.

  25. D's avatar D says:

I really like the idea of signing Gore to a short term contract, bring him home, let him retire after a couple of years. I think its a win win, because Gore needs to go to a place where he can contribute but limit the number carries and extend an already stellar career and we could use a guy with his skills that coudl be used to help with tough yards, we get a mentor for other backs, good team leadership, and if we do make playoffs a guys with experience in those to help us over the hump. I dont see a lose for signing gore to a short term contract. We could still proceed with he youth movement we just now have someone these guys can learn from. We do sill have Gillislee, and Williams, so we wouldnt HAVE to draft a guy, but we could also add someone through he draft if we didn’t have the confidence they would be able to take the next step.

  26. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

Why does everyone keep talking about Starks?

    —————————————
I think it more depends on what we do with Wallace than anything. We are relatively deep at DT even losing Odrick and Starks. Couple of our guys could fill Odricks shoes right now. Starks it really depends if ya judge him off his first half or second half, first half of the year he was still pretty much showing high level of skill/production, but second half, we could have replaced him with one of those other guys and got about the same. I do think we NEED a no questions, this dude is our starter pickup from FA at the DT position to replace Starks, but as of right now, if we kept Starks and replace Odrick with Johnson, Fede, or Francis, i think we see better play than we saw last year. I think the need at R1P14 is to get someone that helps our offense continue to improve, or someone who can stabilize the most unstable position on our defense, the glue of a defense which is a LB’er. A guy like Shelton is tempting and would like play this year at minimum in rotation, but he isnt going to give us the guarantee we need at DT, we need a proven vet there.

  28. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

Mike E, we don’t have to re-sign Starks, he’s got one year left on his deal. We’ll probably keep him around for one more year.

    • D's avatar D says:

I think there is a higher chance he is cut than stays, he is showing some pretty strong signs of decline. It will really depend on a couple of things, first if they feel we have a guy who they can rotate in with starks more frequently making him still have something left in the tank at the end of the year, he didnt have shit left this past year. I think though if thats the case they ask him to take a paycut as his value to us just dropped. He agrees to the pay cut and he stays.

Secondly i think it really depends on who in FA we want to replace him with and whether its affordable to swap him out for them. If Knighton is looking for something in the 7 a year range, which i think is likely, then he is 2mil higher cost than Starks. Can we get in production increase from Knighton, to what equates to one third the way to signing an all pro OG, which i think is an even higher need? Those are the qustions i ask when i decide to cut Starks, but id be in the 65/35 cut to stay probability right now.

  29. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    D,
I’d let Starks go, try to resign Odrick, and sign FA Letroy Guion away from GB, he’s 27 a stout 315lbs, can play NT or DT, and GB had him on a 1yr deal just under $1M, so it might not take a ton of money to lure him away from them.
Then along with Francis coming back & Johnson, we’d have a solid rotation @ DT.

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I beleive the Packers also have to decide on BJ Raji. Maybe they don’t re-sign both?

    • D's avatar D says:

Yeah i think he isn’t so valuable he stays at the price he currently is. He is one of those guys like Urlacher a couple years ago who are going to have to take sever cuts to stay in the game, even though they still play at a pretty decent level. Happens to all these older vets, every year.

    • D's avatar D says:

I like Knighton better…preference thing but i think Knighton is better than most the DT’s in FA this year against the run, and he isnt a liability in passing down either so he could be a 3 down guy at the least.

  30. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

D, I won’t be surprised if we keeps Starks for one more year, let Odrick test the market and add a big anchor DT in FA to cut Starks reps a bit and keep him fresh for the entire season,.

  31. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Bookman, it seems GB is done with BJ Raji, he’s definitely gone, he’s done nothing. Guion is a guy they like so he’ll get a decent offer from them to stay.

  32. professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

    D,
I’m a huge fan of John Crockett from NDSU. I also liked his teammate from last year Sam Ojuri. But Crockett seems to be a much better prospect than Ojuri. He’s another one of my Priority UDFA picks at rb. Not going to get them all, I know that, but between he, Stingily and Van I’d like to see at least one of them.

  33. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

Whatever we do with Starks and Odrick I think we’ll add a DT in FA.

  34. professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

    D,
I like your Jordan Phillips pick as well. He’s a powerful guy and he can move very well for being so big, just like Shelton. I think he’d do better in our 4-3 as a DT since he was a NT in college.

  35. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Give me Guion on a reasonable deal, resign Odrick, he’s a horse & have those two 27yo’s together with Mithchell 27yo, and our younger Francis & Johnson as rotation.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

This will leave more FA money for other areas and keep us young.

    • professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

I think with both Kamal and Anthony Jonson, Fede and Coleman being here it’s going to be extremely tough for Francis to get any reps. I don’t think he sticks and I also think Hickey’s going to find another guy like he did with Fede either late or after the draft that will make Francis expendable.

  36. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    GDP,
I think you are right about Raji, especially coming off of an injury, they will probably push to re-sign Guion for a decent ammount, and my guess is, because the Packers like him and gave him a chance, along with the Packers being a perrenial contender….he will stay there.

Raji is interesting though. They moved him around for a few years from NT to DE in the 3-4, they moved him back to NT during training camp this year, and he was back to being disruptive, prior to his injury, which was early on.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Yes, Guion will be tough to pry away from them….Raji is for whoever wants him. I’m not sure if Raji has it anymore, I could be wrong…maybe he will have a chip once 100% healthy.

  37. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

Lou, Francis was having a good camp and was working with the 2s in TC and in the PS before he got hurt. He has the size and athleticism we’re looking for at 6-5 330. He’d be a cheap option too.

    • professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

I’m just offering up an opinion. Not saying I’m right but camp is very crowded with bodies and I just feel that both Johnson’s and Coleman could squeeze him out. Coleman was a better prospect coming out of college IMO than Francis was and just think he could develop into a quality rotation guy. Anthony Johnson could develop into a starter. Who knows? Just the way I look at things.

  38. professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

Sleeper #5, at DT, Marquel Combs, Southeastern Louisiana. This year’s Terrence Fede.

  39. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim
Yeah, I realize we don’t have to re-sign Starks. I must have read 100X that he nmay not be back, so I was just thinking he was a FA, instead of just having a high salary that would make him a cap casualty.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

I’m not sure the team is worried about him making $6M for one more year. I think we fans tend to think everyone is too expensive. LOL

A lot depends on what we think about Francis, Johnson and Fede moving forward. I could see Fede taking over Odrick’s role.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

A lot depends on the cap space we have, and where they think they’re spending their money wisely. If they feel like they can replace Starks in a more cap friendly manner, they’re going to do that. We’re very tight against the cap now, so some people are going to have to get cut. Plus, like you’ve said many times, we weren’t winning with these players, so some of them need to move along, and Starks has been here through a whole bunch of those mediocre seasons.

      • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

If that six million could be used to land Orlando Franklin….yes then they are concerned about that 6😉

  40. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

Lou, let all these low cost DTs compete and work itself out. Hopefully a few of them look legit.

    • professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

We need to get one of the better prospects in the draft and Hickey may go after one in FA. All depends on if we let Odrick walk and let go of Starks. If one stays, we may just pick up one in the draft instead and go with what we got plus a rookie. In any case, we need to get better at stopping the run and I think Hickey realizes that as much as anyone so it will be interesting to see how he addresses the situation.

How the hell is Fede gonna take over Odrick’s role as a DT? Did he add a lot of size I’m not aware of?

  44. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

GDP, Fede is about 6-5 280+. I think he’ll add some size and strength in the offseason. Odrick is not a stout run defender, he was better in passing situations. I think Fede can play DE in run situations and move inside on passing downs in a rotation.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Odrick was asked to do a lot, he played the most snaps of all the DT’s didn’t he?
We need a guy like Mitchell that can gobble up blockers in early downs.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

I think Fede can develop into that. He has nothing to do with adding a big anchor DT. I’ve been saying we need that too. Keep up will ya? LOL

  45. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

Mike E, I’m not pining for Starks to stay, I’m trying to think what the team is thinking. If he gets cut I won’t be surprised, just not sure that’s what they’re thinking.

  46. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

GDP, Odrick is not the key to stopping the run. We still have to address that regardless of what happens with him.

    ——————————————————-
Have seen a little of highlight vid’s on Crockett, well one, and he seems like a decent guy, and really only question i have is transition from small school competition to NFL. Obviously it doesnt worry our FO, so i think he is probably on their radar, and of course there is the connection with Turner who probably has good insight to lend on him from his time there.

From what i saw he gets a good lean when he breaks the line, gets low squares his shoulders drives hard with his legs and realizes when he gets a break in protection and kicks it in high gear. He has all the skills you want to see in a guy who can grind out yards and give a little extra. Definitely man among boys in that division. Impressive that he had over 1k rushing yards in that offense cause it seemed like they switched RB every other play lol, rotated several guy, not just your normal two back system. Havent watched the Shrine game yet but i heard he was pretty beastly in it.

    • D's avatar D says:

He’s also deceptively fast, when he turns on the jets he flies but i when i look it up it only showed a 40 time in the 4.5’s which is good but sure as hell looked like he moves faster than that.

    D,
I like your Jordan Phillips pick as well. He’s a powerful guy and he can move very well for being so big, just like Shelton. I think he’d do better in our 4-3 as a DT since he was a NT in college.
    ——————————————-
Philips actually reminds me a lot of Starks in his prime. Same skillset.

  49. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Tim, I see the point you’re trying to get at, but what have you seen that convinces you so far that Fede can replace Odrick…man that’s a BIG IF right now….and I like Fede, hope he continues to develop.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

Fede plays physical and he’s got a big frame. I could see him getting snaps at DE and DT in a rotation based on down and distance.

  50. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Once we see what Hickey does with offers to our own UFA’s, then we’ll get a better picture as to who we should discuss, for now it’s just all wild speculation on all of our parts…silly blog…LOL

  51. D's avatar D says:

GDP, i think Fede is pretty much Odrick right now, they are both a little undersized, but fast, Fede i think shows more in strength moves than Odrick, i think it would be like Odrick was still there, and he is even younger so kinda works for your youth movement. I like Fede WAY better at DT, especially on passing downs.

    • D's avatar D says:

I think the little we have seen of Fede shows there it. Its true we havent seen a lot of him, but every play he has been put in he has impressed on. Limited footage but if he can sustain what he has done while he is on the field over an entire game, he is better than Odrick.

      • D's avatar D says:

        Shows it, not there it

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Ahh, and that’s the key, can he hold up to the amount of snaps that Odrick does, or then will we see Fede disappear. 😉

      • D's avatar D says:

Ill give that to ya, i cant say what he will do if his snap count is as high as Odrick’s….and really only way we find out is if he replaces him. I guess that comes down to what coaches feel cause no way i can say for sure.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Yes on passing downs maybe….but OK, we shall see.

  54. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Fede would be very proud to know he has a nice lil fan club here. Odrick gonna put some stink on you guys now…lol

    • D's avatar D says:

LOL, I think impartial to Fede because he strikes me as one of those guys who is hungry, busts his ass and tries to earn everything he is given. He is a blue collar player imo. So there is probably some bias there. Odrick kinda comes off to me a little divaish, though i do like the nastiness he exudes. I think he is one of those guys you expect to punch a guy in the mouth on the field an in the trenches, thats a good quality to have.

  55. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

GDP, maybe Fede doesn’t replace Odrick exactly as in leading the DL in snaps, but I can see him being a versatile D-lineman and I know the team is very high on him.

  56. professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

Hickey is surely going to need to work some magic this offseason. We need to continue to improve our offensive line. We need to fix our problem on the d-line where our run defense is concerned and some tough choices to make there as well. Then we have a situation at wr with Wallace but we also have some tough choices as to what to do with the trio of Hartline, Gibson and Matthews.
Then, at rb, we probably aren’t going to bring Moreno back to we have Miller, Williams and Gillislee, Thomas and James in the backfield right now. I like Williams but if Miller goes down I don’t think Williams can handle the load by himself and he’s more of a compliment to Miller at this time than anything.
At db, we have two corners in Taylor and Davis who we really don’t know much about because they’ve never been healthy enough to show anything consistent and then we have Finnegan Began Again who may not be back either. Then we have the cluster at safety. So, I don’t envy being in Hickey’s situation right now. One thing is for sure and that is Jeffy didn’t just screw the pooch on this one he fucking killed it.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

Taylor showed he can play when he got the opportunity. Davis had his moments but the coaches seemed worried about his over aggressive nature getting beat deep.

      • professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

What I saw from Taylor when he was in there was some good play and some not so good play but maybe that’s just from lack of experience and will get better but the problem we have there is if he can’t stay healthy or he doesn’t just TAKE the job in camp we’re in deep shit because I don’t feel Davis is the answer and I’ve been saying so since Jeffro took him. He’s doing the same thing for us he did in college and I don’t think he’s ever going to work out. We really need Taylor to show up or else.
The thing that really sucks to this point is we have three guys in Jordan, Taylor and Davis who have shown us NOTHING in two years and they all should be further along by now and nobody can say any different. Teams pick players all of the time in the first three rounds that would have contributed a lot more than these guys have to this point. Staying healthy is part of it. If you can’t stay healthy, you can’t play and you can’t contribute. Then we have Jordan with his stupid suspension. He needs to make an impact this year. I’d still rather trade him.

  57. Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

GDP, technology is a challenge just like all of evolution.

  58. D's avatar D says:

I think Odrick gets entirely more from some other team that utilizes him better than we can afford to spend to re-sign him. I wouldnt be opposed to re-signing him but if we are going to pony up a big contract for a DT, rather it be Knighton. If he an affordable re-sign.. I think way its going to go down, is they will let him test the market, when he gets a few offers thrown at him they will counter with what they think is the right value and he will decide stay becuse he wants to be on the team or go for the money. I dont think the Phins would insult him with their offer either, but like Tim said, there is likely another team out there thats going to have a higher number that we are.

    • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

A 3-4 team will pay him well & he will do very well moving back to a 3-4DE. We will then have to hear retards say Miami Should’ve paid the man Eventhough he’d be playing a different position where he’s not as good.

  59. D's avatar D says:

GDP, FME shows up for me.

  60. D's avatar D says:

Im sticking to Gillislee developing into a usable back for us same as i stood behind Jenkins. Gillislee is actually the closet thing to Miller out of all the other guys we have and if Miller went down, i think he gets those touches. He CAN run up the middle but he is a better outside the tackles runner, and a pretty awesome receiver. It has been said by more than me too, i think since he has been here he has always been the best pass blocking back we have, but i do think Miller has come along there as well. Id be ok if they shed down to Miller, Gillislee and i think Williams has earned another shot to compete next year.

    • professor lou's avatar professor lou says:

I’m sticking to my original opinion on Gillislee that we wasted another pick on him when we took him. Don’t see him developing into anything consistent for us and I think it’s time to cut the cord on him as well as DT3. Granted he was a 5th rd pick and not a 2nd like Thomas but if Hickey can get a guy like Williams as an udfa we don’t need to keep Gillislee around either. Hickey will find a guy who will come in and replace DT3 and Gillislee and not look back. I think he’s that confident and that good. Of course, that’s just me keeping my fingers crossed. LOL

  61. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Lou, your 12:18 post above is what I’ve been saying here for days in sections of concern, and I think all of that combined really puts pressure on Hickey & Philbin…even tho this team is heading in the right direction, that is a tremendous amount of areas to work a viable plan thru and still get to the playoffs.

Because of that, I feel a Boom or sadly Bust season is before us in 2015.
Gonna keep my fingers crossed we have a good free agency, including our own, right decisions made, and then a great draft…otherwise it could get ugly when ya think about it. 😯

    • Tim Knight's avatar Silly Tim says:

We’re not going to address every area to greatness, but we need to make sure we don’t have a glaring weakness.

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Hickey will earn every penny he makes if he pulls of a good offseason, then it’s up to Joe & Coyle to make it work, OH NO, now I’m nervous again. 😉

  62. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

  64. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Lou, Gillislee has to shine right now as soon as OTA’s start or he’s done…there is a ton of good looking RB’s in this years draft class, many will go undrafted because of other team needs around the league. So I hope he comes packing his lunch, cause it’s do or die time for my hometown guy.

Then he steadily bitches about not getting the throws, and coup de grace, quits on his team in the last game.
