I can’t say I have a clear memory as to when I became a Dolphins’ fan; that is, I don’t remember a specific day or incident I could say marked the moment of the start of my perpetual heartbreak. It is clear I was a fan by the end of the 1976 season, because I remember being disappointed with the 6-8 record…

My family moved from Somers, NY (20 miles southeast of West Point) to Miami in June of 1972- I was six years old. My dad was not a fan of following any team (I think he was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan as a boy, but when they left town, he may have decided it was not worth getting invested), but he was athletic, and was always willing to toss a ball around with me (football, basketball, baseball, tennis…). I got a football uniform for Christmas that year, complete with pads and a helmet- Minnesota Vikings colors without any of the logos. I would put it on and run around like a crazy person, and my dad would “tackle” me. We had a neighbor who was big into watching the Dolphins on TV, and his wife would go crazy watching Mercury Morris running the ball. We could hear her screaming, “Run, you black son of a bitch!” (This was the 70’s, not a very “PC” time in the southern US; I remember mom being a little uncomfortable around this person, but I didn’t understand why, as I had no idea what my neighbor was saying or what it was in reference to- I was young!).
The Dolphins were “the team” of that era, if not nationally then at least locally, and since there was nothing competing for our attention (the next professional team did not arrive in South Florida until the mid 80’s), we were always hearing about Don Shula and Larry Czonka and Bob Griese, and other guys with names like Kuechenberg, Nottingham, Little, Den Herder, Scott, and they were spoken of like they were mythological heroes. People would report sightings of them around town, if you were lucky enough to see any one of them you were the coolest kid for the next few days. When the kids in my neighborhood would get together to play a game, I always wanted to be Paul Warfield or Duriel Harris or Nat Moore, even though I was neither the fastest nor tallest (my saving grace was I had really good hands and would catch just about anything thrown my way). As I got older I became more interested in things outside of the season, like who was on the team and who we drafted or who retired- I vaguely remember the return of Czonka in ’79, how he was welcomed back as the “Prodigal Son Returned”. At this point I could recite starting lineups on both sides of the ball, as well as backups and even most of the coaches.
I have only been to 2 games, but if I remember correctly the Dolphins won each. This was sometime between 1979 and 1982, which means both were at the Orange Bowl. I sat in the endzone for one game, and the north stands for the other. I went with friends of my dad each time, but he didn’t go. I don’t remember anything in particular about either game; I don’t have any memorabilia. I just remember being excited to actually go and see the Dolphins play.
Another poignant moment of my fanhood memory was the strike-shortened season where we made it to the Super Bowl. Mom and dad had separated and mom was broke most of the time, though she worked and went to school without complaining to us about dad or money problems. Somehow she scrounged up enough to order a pizza and get a 2 liter bottle of Coke, and she my youngest sister and I watched as the Dolphins found themselves on the wrong side of an aging John Riggins’ rushing explosion that led to MVP honors for the game. We lost, it sucked- but it was a good memory of time spent with family you find altogether too hard to duplicate as the years go by. Mom is 70 now, a life-long smoker, and has COPD. I don’t know how much longer she’ll be around, but I know she loves the Dolphins because of my sister and I. Just recently she said to me during a conversation about football, “I just hope to live to see the Dolphins win one more Super Bowl”.
The day I realized what being a fan could cost me, and the depths of depression one could descend to, was the playoff game against San Diego, January 2nd, 1982. The ups and downs of that game, the feeling we could do it, Winslow blocking the winning field goal, the overtime, Kellen Winslow dying on the field only to be resurrected (twice!), another blocked kick, the second overtime, Winslow being carried off the field… It’s possible I cried that day, I can’t remember. A guy I was in high school with and who was interning with a photographer for the Miami Herald was at that game, and I helped him develop film, including Winslow being held up by teammates. He told me about being there and the atmosphere of the place, and how hard it was to be there when San Diego won. I’ve had other moments of disappointment with the Dolphins, including the 2 Super Bowl losses in the 80’s, but that game, though we lost, was the single most galvanizing event for me as a fan, because I lived and died with each possession, each success or missed opportunity, and I really believe that not one member of the Dolphins team could have felt worse than I did when Benirschke made that kick. They fought, they bled, they played hard, and they never gave up, even when they were down 24-0 in the first quarter. Who wouldn’t be a fan of a team that represented its city so epically? How could you help it?
Thanks for letting me share my story of Dolphins fandom with you. I look forward to reading others’ recollections. We can always hope the return to glory is just around the corner.

What do you have to do around here to get your name in red?
I just noticed that
New Age
why is your name red?
You have to get on a pedestal in front of everyone on the blog, and sing “Lady in red”. Why? What do you mean red, anyway?
New Age is very embarrassed. 😳
It’s my scarlet letter but I have a lot of them. If only my sins were of just one variety.
Lou – Just for kicks, do those words in that article not clearly state that Philbin not only hired those guys, but was 100% behind it? I just want to know how far up that deNile river you are? lol
Those hires have Jeffro written all over them. Philbin was just doing his job as the mouthpiece of the franchise.
Ohhhhh, sure. Funny how they happened to be good friends of his as well, but you’re right, he had nothing to do with it. I wonder if any of you guys here will go on protecting Philbin after he’s fired and he can’t get another job as HC, and maybe not even a coordinators job.
I doubt Philbin is going to be fired and the reason I say that is because we no longer have Ireland as a GM. Hickey is putting this team in a better position to win with the talent he brought in this past season. Couple that with some new blood on the coaching staff and this team has the ability to win 10 to 11 games and make the playoffs and, if anything, Philbin gets an extension.
You saw the stats comparison to NE from last season. Just need to score more, do better at giving up points or a combination of both.
If you look at our LB corps, our o-line situation, our db situation, the Martin/Incognito debacle Philbin has done a pretty good job of keeping this team focused.
The Lazor hire and the Sherman hire are light years away from one another in terms of offensive schemes. My money is on Ireland hiring Sherman and when he was told to fire Sherman and hire a new OC he said, “ok, someone else had their chance at picking my OC, now it’s my turn.”

I don;t think wallace removed himself from games b/c he didn;t like the way they were going
I think he phone it in int he final game this year
But I didn;t get that impression from him for most of the season
If he was doing that for the last 2 years, why wait until the fianl game of 2015 to bench him?
Dbolt said that, it was reported by Armando.
that allegation is really a matter of opinion and not something for Mando to have insight on, don’t you think?
dbolt
when you say jet game i assume you mean the last game of the season. i would think based on that game the whole fucking organization had quit its fan base.
Read below.
Yes that game, but as I mentioned before Armando reported the same Wallace did the same thing in the 2nd Patriots game also.

When I was in the military a couple of us sneaked into this stadium on too the inside of the stadium floor where the bull fights took place. We were pretending to be the bull and the matador. Well some people came out yelling at us and threatened us they were going to release the bulls on us. We left quickly.
I’m Piggy’s bitch on here. Seeing his imagination…you don’t want to know what I have to do to get red letters. If only my name had less letters…
Also reported by Darlington:
Jeff Darlington ✔ @JeffDarlington
Wallace wasn’t “benched,” according to several sources. It wasn’t initially “coach’s decision.” Wallace told Philbin he didn’t want to play.
5:15 PM – 28 Dec 2014
Jeff Darlington ✔ @JeffDarlington
After Clay scored with 2:49 left in 1st half, Mike Wallace came off the field and told Joe Philbin he no longer wanted to play in the game.
5:15 PM – 28 Dec 2014
Jeff Darlington ✔ @JeffDarlington
Many Dolphins teammates were very displeased with Wallace’s actions today. Several tell me they felt like he abandoned them when needed.
5:15 PM – 28 Dec 2014
Basically all the original reports that came out right away.
We’ve known all this for a while
but its really one game
and doesn’t mean he has been doing it all season or for the last 2 years
So let me get this straight Jahn, you don’t think we should take the cap hit by trading Wallace?
I’m guessing this is humor, but I actually never mentioned a trade. 🙂
It’s cap “relief” btw. 2.5M. 😉
Lol! JBB! How’s the snow been out there this season?
Makes you question what you’re listening too. Not surprised though.
http://news.yahoo.com/brian-williams-unreliable-souces-151412943.html
He’s likely finished for a while. Now we will see nearly every comment he has made about witnessing something come into question.
Would anyone be surprised to hear a trade on draft day that maybe includes Wallace going to another team?
Yes, no team will trade for his contract.
I’ve seen the quitting thing before. The entire team quit towards the end of the season on Sparano. Not defending Sparano but that’s just the way I saw it.
thanks jahn
I’m enjoying Lou irritating Mike E with the Ireland/Philbin convo. Mainly because I know how hot Mike gets about Philbin. LOL

so your are saying if we keep wallace is is like a 12m cap hit but if we cut him it is only 9mil but no player for the 9 mil. i like your way of spending 9 mil dollars.
make a deal with you, i have a nice car you can buy for a cheap 50k. or if you want you can just give me 30k and i will keep the car.
So you’re saying if I have the opportunity of taking a 1 Million dollar check or a 3.5 Million dollar check, and I choose the 3.5 Million you’ll tell me I wasted a million dollars.
PS, your shitty analogy only works if I have to choose between your two choices, but since I don’t I’d just tell you to get fucked. 🙂
ffr is thanking some folks for something. It’s after lunch time so maybe he’s referring to some afternoon delight? LOL
shut up pickle boy.
You can try to turn that on me, but you’re the one who searched for that video and posted it.
Tim:
The most onerous years on Wallace’s contract are in the past. He is more tradeable than you think
I think why we are willing to trade him will still scare teams off. They still have to take on quite a bit of money.
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/mike-wallace/
do not teams have the ability to rework a players contract once he is traded? Secondly, we traded Marshall to Chicago and he’s even more of a headcase.
Point is Wallace has talent and you’ll always have a team who like his talent and also a team that thinks he’s a better fit, can handle him better than we did or whatever who will be willing to trade for him.
Maybe Philbin doesn’t get hired as a head coach if he was to be fired but, man, he’s going to be one HELL of a janitor.
jahn
bite me, my analogy was perfect. lol.
and we are not talking about you taking something. we are talking about paying for something. and my point has nothing to do with the player in question. it is just that if you see paying 9mil for nothing against your cap vs 12.5mil for something against your cap as a better deal then Dawn better be looking over her shoulder for her job.
I’m done FFR, if he’s here we get him and his problems (or his new stellar attitude and great production) if he’s not we get an extra 2.5Million in cap space. (or more if we designate as post June 1st).
Not going to repeat it again. Spin it around and try to be cute, do what you do. I could not be more clear about all this. Did a shit load of work to help folks understand too, and get nothing but bullshit in return. SMH.
So I’m going skiing for the first time in like 13 years in a couple weeks (X-mas present from the wife, who never wanted to ski before but one of her friends invited us on a couples vaca….you get the idea why I’m going all of a sudden). Pretty sure the skills will be there after a day or two, but worried about how the body will hold up. Used to wake up with a sore back even when I was in my twenties.
Have a feeling it is going to be a lesson in how old I am.
Can other people take out life insurance on ya….like can i get in on that action because its sounding like a sure thing pay out at this point.
LMAO — if I try to act like I was before then buy it. Hoping I’ll have a bit more sense than that.
Just read an article on the Phinsider that suggests we got another big buy in FA, and sign Revis to help us lock down the secondary and fix the defensive problems in that direction. Personally feel this doesn’t help us nearly as much as getting a stud DT to stop the run game, after all thats where we failed on D last year, but the argument he made about Grimes opposite Revis with Jones lurking, would be a pretty scary secondary. That would definitely open up the pass rush, and Wake and Vernon’s number probably really jump. Jordan, Jenkins and Misi as LB’ers, maybe with a little less to worry about in coverage opens them up to help with the run stopping, i dunno its a different angle for sure but the argument seems rational.
I dunno though, big money for Suh, or big money for Revis works out basically same way. I have already said it would be really tight signing a guy like Suh and then expecting to have anything left to sign others in FA. We also would have to gut the team, leaving us at least in a bind depth wise, and we would be relying on draft to fill starting positions essentially Im not a fan of this level of FA spending, but again, its an interesting thought to ponder.
No way do I want Revis, but glad to know he will either be with the Pats or won’t……….with the latter being at a real high price tag.
What do we do with the 6.4 mil cap hit we take if we don’t bring back Finnegan?
Different subject. Add in whatever we get from Ellerbe and the rest. There will be some money to spend even if we won’t be the huge players and we know what the needs are.
A team trading for Wallace gets him for 12.1, 13.7 and 13.7Million, respectively, over the next 3 years. That’s the contract. No funny business to negotiate beyond that. I don’t know if a team thinks that’s worth trading good compensation for, but I’m skeptical. It’d have to be a team that thinks it’s a WR away IMHO, and they’d have to think Wallace was that guy.
if we cut him in 2016, we don;t take nearly as big of a salary cap hit do we?
Thinking of it wrong Piggy, its not a cap hit, its an increase in cap savings…we still SAVE by cutting him this year. Better way to look at it is “can you get a replacement for what you save” because if the answer is yes an adequate replacement for him will only cost us 1.7 mil as in a 1st round R1P14 pick, then you have replaced him and still saved money. If you cant and it will cost you 7 mil to bring in a vet that likely equals his production you have now cap hit of 4.5mil in the transaction. It should not be seen as a 9.5mil cap hit, but a 2.5mil savings as that’s the real determining factor. The rest of it doesn’t affect the team it affects Ross’ pocket book and fuck it, if he wants to eat that , let him.
Let’s look at two scenarios, Cut (or traded, same consequences) in 2015, vs. Cut or traded in 2016
2015:
If cut we gain 2.5 Million in cap relief in 2015, 9.3 in 2016 and 11.5 in 2017
2016
If we cut we gain 9.3 in 2016 and 11.5 in 2017.
It really comes down to whether they want the guy on the team or not this season. Nothing more. If we were actually experiencing a net cap “hit” by cutting him this year, then they have more to consider, but since we’re not, it’s “Do we think he’s good for this team, or do we not”.
I think Dallas might be a feasible partner. Wallace for Terrance Williams. If this trade was made Dallas would have Wallaces workable years of his contract which allows them to resign Bryant easier. Bryant gets a new big contract this year makes it difficult for the to afford Williams next year. Williams will get really good money in FA & probably would t be back in Dallas. So I think it’s a win win situation for all involved.
3 trade partners i can see right now, TB, Houston and Arizona if you want a WR for WR trade. If ya wanted WR for some other position trade, i bet there are tons of opportunities out there.
Shit, didn’t know it was 13.7 in 2016 & 2017……cut bait
There is a serious lack of leadership with this team if the WRs are acting like children in the film room. WTF? You don’t hear this type of shit going on in the pats wr room.
Or maybe Ireland signed the wrong guys.
Agreed. I think the fact that many of these guys will be gone this off season will only amplify that.
so you think if these guys were playing for the patriots they would pull the same type of shit? I doubt it.
Boulder,
Haynesworth pulled this shit with the Pats….Ochocinco did. They were gone a year later. If Miami cuts bait with the jack asses this off season. It’s essentially the same thing.
‘X-mas present from the wife’
wow, talking about arrogant. a whole fucking holiday named after you.
LOL……….well done.
The argument a lot of you have for cutting Hartline is the same as the one for cutting Wallace. Cutting Hartline saves 3mil, cutting Gibson is 3.5 and cutting Wallace is 2.5. All these guys are within a mil of one another so they all save us same amount. How can some of you be so certain to cut Hartline over Wallace and not vice versa, i just dont get it. Take into consideation a post June 1st designation makes that 2.5 for Wallace, 6.9mi vs Hartline’s 5.9. Again, Hartline or Wallace….
One produced and one didn’t. I like Hartline but we have the same OC that didn’t find use for him all last year. Wallace was a PitA but at least he had great numbers. Hartline was used like Tanny’s wet blanket. Dumped off and hidden for most of last season.
Hartline’s numbers were down from previous seasons but he was 4th on the team in catches with 39. It wasn’t like he was useless. LOL

Lou, you asked if anyone would be surprised if there was a trade involving Wallace and I said yes. I’d be shocked if we pulled it off.
Meh i wouldn’t be overly shocked, i mean i think a couple opportunities are just a phone call away. We might have to take a small loss ont he trade but im sure a couple of them are solid possibilities.
yes, I saw that. But, Marshall was more of a headcase than Wallace.
This is true, he was more “unstable” but i think they are on the same level as a diva.
jahn
ok, no biggie. i didnt know today was serious monday. dont get all butt hurt. all i was saying is spending 9 mill for nothing or 12 for a quitter isnt good either way. to try and say saving 2 mil or whatever is a good thing i think is stretching the definition of what a good thing is.
LOL @ serious Monday
Again, that 9mil isnt a loss to the team, just a loss to the owner who is paying the dude. Do you really care how Ross spends his billions? i dont, but i like the idea of gettign rid of a team cancr at the SAVINGS of 2.5mil TO THE TEAM. Again, you only have to worry if your killing production doing it, but i feel pretty good that what Carolina did with Benjamin can be duplicate by us with and of these three, Parker, White, DGB.
He doesn’t even pay it. There’s cap number, dead cap money, and actual pay. All are discretely different numbers. The 9.6 is the Dead cap money, which becomes our “cap number” for 2015 if we cut him. You determine net CAP results by subtracting the cap number we’d incur by keeping him. 12.1.
9.6-12.1 =-2.5 or 2.5 million MORE in cap space.
Just going to ignore any further comments that insinuate that 9.6m means anything negative for the dolphins.
No you won’t.

they are 8-8 cut the whole damn team.

One has two back to back 1k seasons, the other hasnt touched that mark yet. One is a leader on the team the other is a self centric whiner who distracts from a healthy team environment.
Dbolt,
We trade Wallace for Williams and sign Cobb in FA and finally have the two receivers I wanted on this team all along. LOL
Good complimentary players who can work the e tire field.
Lou, the regime in CHI who traded for Marshall was fired. LOL
yeah, but there’s plenty more where that came from. lol
I was joking. Marshall’s teams never make the playoffs.
I think for one game this season that the entire team should carry purple dildos in their hand warming belts then stab the opposition with them when they are at the bottom of the pile. Like the proctology exam Starks got in Pittsburgh.
I don’t get how an 8-8 season means Harbaugh can’t coach. That is his low point. A .500 season that is our high point the last 6 years. Go back and look at how he’s completely turned around 3 programs at his 3 previous HC jobs and tell me he doesn’t have a proven track record. He’s a pain in the ass, but the guy is clearly an elite coach.
I’m not high on Philbin…. just can’t identify anything he does that really helps the team succeed. He’s not horrible. He is organized, requires discipline from his team, seems to be able to help his staff put together a decent game plan. Not elite or special at any of those things, however. I don’t get the sense that the players feel any bond with him. He’s clearly unable to deal with strong personalities or at least doesn’t feel the need to. Doesn’t defend or put a lot of trust in his players when dealing with the media or in some game situations.
We are average at a lot of positions on this football team and HC is one of them. Hard to do much when you don’t have elite talent at key spots. I like Tannehill and think our offense will be better next year. My choice would be to focus on building the defense through the draft and FA. Getting our scoring defense back to where it has previously been with our improved offense is the key to a playoff berth next season, IMO.
And I don’t get how 8-8 makes Philbin a bad coach either. Jason Garrett went 8-8 three seasons in a row with the Cowboys and this past season they were 12-4 and won their division. Is he a good or great coach all of a sudden or is it a combination of the talent they now have and his coaching ability?
All coaches need something to work with and I’ll argue that Philbin hasn’t had the best cast of characters to work with. You’re also forgetting this is his first time as a head coach of a team so he’s still feeling his way for his first 3 seasons although I’d also argue he’s done a damn good job so far.
Did the Cowboys fire Garrett for going 8-8 three years in a row? No. Is he a better coach than Philbin. That’s debatable and I’d argue they are pretty close to the same as far as ability is concerned.
Overall, I don’t think Philbin gets enough credit for ALL of the shit he’s had to deal with since getting here.

Jahn not seeing how you are not seeing we are saying same thing
“Again, that 9mil isnt a loss to the team, just a loss to the owner who is paying the dude. ”
It’s not a loss to the owner.
It’s a charge against the cap nothing more, and (I know you get this part, but it’s for consistency purposes for me) it’s less then the charge against the cap we incur if he stays on the roster.
I know you understand what I’m saying, but I think people here get confused by what “dead cap money” really represents, or fail to see that there’s almost always a difference between “cap number” and “salary”.
As far as Wallace goes, it benefits both him and Miami to have a successful 2015 season together. Miami needs him to play at a high level and develop better chemistry with TH. Hartline is the guy they can more easily replace for the money he’d save us.
I wasn’t a fan of signing Wallace in the first place. Not a huge fan of his game still. That said, until the final game he has been a pretty good player for us. It’s selfish and stupid to bitch about putting up the numbers he did last season and throwing a 3 year old mute tantrum, but… it’s the NFL. There are 3 year olds all over the place. Coach them up and get them to play hard while you have them. Make it work.
D
i am ok cutting wallace. about the only player in my opinion that would be off limits would be tanny. and i am not even saying he should be untouchable.
i wasnt defending wallace in what i was saying to jahn. i was just saying it is a stretch to say saving 2.whatever mil against the cap when there is a cap hit of 9 mil against it for nothing is a bit of a stretch. (and as jahn said, mostly was just having fun with it)
id add Landry for sure.
How about Vernon and Jenkins? James, Taylor and Davis too. For sure the cap has to figure in.
If you’re ever going to prove to me you understand this, you can’t even get to 2.5 without doing some math. 9.6-?????=2.5
What is the ????? ?

Brian, like I replied to Jahn, that would be like people calling you ‘The Hand’ or ‘The Macy’s Shitter’. Pickle boy is ffr’s and/or Ken’s if you go back to the origin. So my point is if we’re going to play that game I can play too. I think some of you are just scared about that. LOL
I got your point Pickle Boy.
I have to say, I don’t even know a damn thing about where the “pickle” reference came from. I was just using it to fuck with Tim for pointing out that I wouldn’t have the self control to do what I said in that post.
Don’t know where pickle boy came from either. Who is out Stephen Ambrose?
I don’t know that we have one, but I love the arcane reference. Well played.
You ever read Band of Brothers or anything he wrote, if not please do. He tells history like it is a novel.
i am pretty sure pickleboy hails from NJ. not sure why it matters where tim is from.
You guys don’t remember Ken having a Vlassic pickle jar as an avi and then ffr posting a guy squatting on one until it went up his ass and broke?
No, and I’m glad I don’t remember that. LOL…
There is our poor man’s Gore Vidal. 🙂
Lol! I do Tim.
Stanger:
At least now you have a real reason to wear ski pants
LMAO — and wife bought me a whole bunch of ski gear for the trip. Next Jets game I go to the ski pants are gonna be a lot more stylish.
Now watch he’ll wear fishnet stockings instead.

what the hell? what did you do mind altering drugs on your trip. that never happened. nice try tim. next you will be selling us that varga is worthy of a 5th round pick
lol the Macy’s shitter….lol love it.
Like Jack the Ripper or the .44 Caliber Killer. LOL
Macy McShitter, Jack the Ass Ripper, .44 caliber crapper.
That one was funny
So I guess D is the Macy’s Shitter now?
Never have shat in a changing room, but i did something awful to Lowes bathroom once. Sushi and Beer do not mix.
Lol! I’m sure Tim can work with that.
It’s a scary thought but I think if Ireland were still here he’d keep Wallace and trade Landry. lol
He would have never drafted Landry, he would have drafted Don Jones replacement.
Stanger,
Where are you going skiing?
Park City.
Nice. I’m sure the snow is great out there after this last run of snowstorms. Have a great time!
Thanks — it will be great regardless. Grew up on Vermont slopes and when I hit the Rockies……..realized what a better world was sitting out there the whole time.
Did we have a name for Home, if so that needs to go to Tim and someone else can be Mr McPickles….
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 14: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville (A)
Round 2 Pick 15: Denzel Perryman, ILB/OLB, Miami (Fla.) (A-)
Round 3 Pick 14: Gerod Holliman, FS, Louisville (A)
Round 4 Pick 15: Justin Hardy, WR, East Carolina (C+)
Round 5 Pick 14: Corey Robinson, OT, South Carolina (B)
Round 6 Pick 15: Matt Jones, RB, Florida (B)
Round 7 Pick 15: Damian Swann, CB, Georgia (B+)
Beginning to hate the no trade back option lol. Got tempted in the third to do it, but i didnt get an offer.
I got a D+ for selecting Swann in the 7th a few weeks ago.
In 97% of the mock drafts I’ve seen posted here, Perryman, Holliman and Varga have been selected. That’s a virtual guarantee we’re not picking any of them.
LOL, and anyone Piggy picks.
Haha!
LOL @ D making those names McDonald’s menu items.
I sense Timmy “Pickles” is not liking his new name. lol
I should have Piggy piggyshop this to say Tickle Tim Pickles. lol
LMAO!!!!! Now that’s fuckin funny.
LMFAO!
LMAO….nice
Ben Tate may be an option for us for FA RB to give us that pounder guy. I wanted him in FA last year, but browns got him. I think we would have been better off than having Knowshon, but Knowshon i think had the higher potential for boom, unfortunately we got the bust part. He’s be worth it if the price is right, still young, and definitely got power back skills.
He’ll carry the ball once and his foot will come off.
He went to the RB needy Vikes, and they cut him. He must be done D
Sad if thats true, because he seemed to have all kinda promise.
Mike E, I can play some Photoshop games too and it could get real interesting. 🙂
UH OH MIke E.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure we don’t want to go down that road with you.
Tickle Tim got me thinking:
Piggy,
Please DO NOT create a “Samurai” or any other type of list of potential draft picks for a position of need (LB) this season.
LOL, he should just call them ‘picks other people get’.
Tim
You can go photoshop crazy if you like. You have to roll with the punches baby. I always do, unless you mention Philbin, that’s like my kryptonite. lol
Lynch is going to be awesome this season.
OK, and Lynch. Philbin and Lynch. 🙂
Ritchie’s in Buffalo i see, man i musta missed that on the news wire over the weekend. Going to be interesting in those two games lol.
I think everyone on our defense should wear #71 when we play the Bills
Like ^
and a tutu
Lol no because then he’d beat the shit out of us, and call our sisters “the rain makers” squirt squirt….

Lou,
Dallas generally performed below expectations and imploded down the stretch for three 8-8 seasons. They finally broke through this year with a nice season. If they follow this up with several 10+ win seasons and a SB appearance then I’d certainly change my opinion of Garrett, but I haven’t seen anything so far to make me think he’s better than average.
There are only a handful of elite HCs in this league. A bunch of HCs that are elite on one side of the ball or seem to be able to manage egos and motivate teams to play above their talent level. All I’m saying is that Philbin hasn’t shown (to me) any elite qualities as a HC so far. I don’t expect Philbin to be a major reason this team takes the next step. Definitely could be wrong. Hope I’m wrong.
Walter football reporting some draft rumors on prospects, Dawson, who some here like is having this said about him.
“The team that was the highest on Dawson has him as a second-round pick, and the next-highest grade for Dawson is in the third round. A few teams have him as a fourth-round pick and said he could go somewhere on Day 3. Another team said that they’ve graded Dawson as a sixth- or seventh-round pick. “
Mike E, I don’t mind ball busting, I just don’t understand the origin of the pickle boy name for me. It comes across as just say anything and it’s all good. Humor has to have some truth to it.
Are you saying you don’t like pickles?
Tim – The pickle thing was a joke. We had discussed the pickle jar thing before you went on vacation, and I said that you were going to SC to take Pickle jar picker upper classes. It was funny. That’s it. End of story.
I’m changing my name to Fuck You! LOL
Stanger,
When are you going to be in Park City?
Something like the 21st to the 27th.. We’re staying at some place in btwn there and Deer Valley that has a special lift into town from the area.
a friend of mine was in parck city last week and said the snow is shit. all metled
Did notice it was over freezing today and they are less than 100% open. Part of why if it was my choice I would have gone late March/Early April. But for some reason the woman who has skied just a few times never consulted me. But I ain’t complaining. Have missed it.
Humor has to have some truth to it.
so are you saying that pigs really can fly
No but pigs do exist so there is some truth to it.
At least ours sure can……seen it with my own eyes.
No but pigs do exist so there is some truth to it.
oh so you are saying that pickles dont exist
I’m changing my name to Fuck You! LOL
wouldnt ‘Pickles Fuck You’ be more fitting
BBL
I bet there is a horror movie somewhere based on flying pickles
LMAO @ Tickle Tim Pickles
Mike E, I asked how the pickle thing got started when I was away and now you finally explain it? Douche! LOL
Figures Rex Ryan would sign Incognito. They would seem to go together for some reason.
Richie here use my golf club while I go for the feet.
Man, i was just reading through some NFL rumors and one of the thngs that caught my eye was that the Browns are said to be considering trading up for Mariota….lol damn Manziel has big time shit in his nest.
Also here is a list of some potential cuts…. I have already been eyeballing some of them, specifically Vernon Davis. I think the 9’er are going to have to dump quite a few players.
Keep an eye on the potential releases of Tampa Bay wide receiver Vincent Jackson, San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis, New York Jets running back Chris Johnson, Carolina running back DeAngelo Williams, Oakland safety Tyvon Branch and Eagles cornerback Cary Williams.” – Jamison Hensley, ESPN
Always the price comes first, but I could see V-Jax here.
That would be crazy
They have plenty of pics (The Bills picks) to trade up
but I’m not sure they can trade all the way up to the #1 or #2 spot
I am pretty sure Winston Maritoa and maybe the USC DT are the top 3 picks
Some funny stuff I’ve missed. Mr Pickles, etc. FFR, that was wrong and hilarious at 4:37.
Seeing some rumors that Stabby may be done in Chicago, cap causality, i personally don’t see that though.
Stanger, Maybe Park Station? Either that or you might be staying on the east side of Deer Valley near the reservoir.
It has been a pretty lousy winter, but there’s still about a 70 inch base so skiing should be decent. Seems like we usually get slammed in late Feb and March when Dec/Jan is light. I’m in Phoenix latter part of that weekend. If I can take the boys up to Park City early in the week we’ll have to meet up.
Park Station sounds right, but the better half is not here to confirm. You have my e-mail? Anyhow it is Willie Tom HLT Harry at yahoo. Would be great to see if we can work something out. Give me a shout.
Sorry if that was confusing…..just the letters in caps.
New poll up
Mike Wallace is the subject
Mike E, isn’t allowed to place 5,328 votes 😄
Okay
I set the limit to 5,327
I oinked.
WELL FOLKS YOU ARE NOT going to believe the ticket news I got today from 2 different ticket account reps. regarding the price of tickets between the 30’s, lower deck, on the Dolphins side.–These reps both told me all the seats in that section will be ripped out and replaced by about 535 seats that will be priced between $1,000 and $1,100 PER TICKET PER GAME!!! For that, you’ll get so many perks I can’t list them all, including LIMO SERVICE to and from the game!! (Sorry, FFR, but NO sexual favors are included). Those currently having seats between the 30’s, lower deck, Dolphins’ side, will either have to pay-up OR MOVE OUT to less choice seating!! –Ah, shades of Joe Robbie when he moved the Fins to the new stadium!!
————
NOW, the GOOD NEWS! – – I can move back across to the sunnier North side of Sun-Baked Stadium and get two seats between the 30’s FOR WHAT I’M PAYING NOW ON THESOUTH (DOLPHINS) SIDE OF THE FIELD!! –When I call in at my appointed time, I will have that option, allegedly. TIME will tell.
————
JUST WONDERING what will go through Dolphin fans minds when they tune in home games to find that MANY OF THOSE LUXURY SEATS REMAIN VACANT AT $1,OOO.00 per ticket per game!! Nothing like a “Ghost Town Effect” to pump up the home team players, eh???–Well, at least when Dolphin players SCREAM AT THE COACHING STAFF, few fans will actually be within earshot to hear the Wallace’s of the world rip Clueless Joe!!
————
The “Info Package” that was SUPPOSED to arrive to me last week did NOT arrive today, either –ANOTHER big surprise, eh??? –One of the 2 ticket reps said “Gee, I just DON’T KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG.” Nobody knows WHEN, or IF, I’ll get this INFO PACKAGE AT dOLPHINS TICKET HEADQUARTERS!! U GOTTA LOVE STEVE ROSS’s clueless employees!!
Randy — great news for me……even if you want to bash them. Sounds like you will get closer to the fifty for the same price. Not so bad.
YS–I SURE hope you are right. Forgive me if I express misgivings. But, yes, I think my return to the hotter north side may be a benefit.
1k per ticket???
I don;t get what is with these high priced tickets
I wonder whether it will work to be profitable for Ross
The only price out in public is the $1,100 for the luxury box thing with the TVs in front. And that comes with limo service and a special exit out of the stadium. Think like 200-somehting seats in those. They will be special.
The other seats btwn the 30 and 50 will be normal ones that are bigger than before and for sure more expensive. Not sure they will go for a grand each……but then it hasn’t been announced either.
Stanger,
Absolutely. I’ll check in with you or feel free to reach out when you’re here. Happy to give you some suggestions if you need any.
AND YOUNG STANGER; Try NOT to go on injured reserve at the ski resort–NO broken legs!!
LOL…….think sore muscles are the biggest worry. But think that a guaranteed.
Don’t have your contact info far as I know. You have mine now though. The two wives are neophytes and the husband is a blue/green type guy……so would be great to set up a day.
drgiauque@yahoo
drg — just tried to send to that and yahoo would not allow (got not a yahoo address). You got mine before — just send me a meet’n’greet.
Never mind…….stupid me finally got it. You should have an e-mail.
Looks like me and DBolt have voted lol….
LOL
Oh yippie, more Wallace talk and even a poll…wooo.
FTR, I do like the trade him if we can option. Otherwise as I’ve maintained all a long, we keep him for 2015, his 10TD production and occasional big time catches are hard to instantly compensate for, but we should also draft his eventual replacement/s now, let them get a year of experience.
This draft is loaded with WR talent…..time to double up if we get a chance.
‘$1,000 and $1,100 PER TICKET PER GAME!!! For that, you’ll get so many perks I can’t list them all, including LIMO SERVICE to and from the game!! (Sorry, FFR, but NO sexual favors are included)’
oh my dear lutz brother. i so so so disagree with you. for that price someone is definitely getting fucked
FFR; NICE overhead smash response to my lob shot!!! NOW I’m wondering how Ross will respond to all the empty seats right behind his football players??? — WAIT. — I know. — He’ll do what Joe Robbie did. — HE’LL FIRE HIS TICKET DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR!
Guess who’s spending the most money in the NFL on their defense next year (before offseason cuts of course)? Yup…our Fins
Time to let some of them walk. Starks is top on my list. I’ve always liked him, but he didn’t earn his paycheck last season. I think I let Odrick walk too only because I think he’s going to get in the 6-7M/year range, and I dont’ think he’s worth that to us. I know some folks were disappointed with Wake late last season, but I think getting rid of him would be foolish and counterproductive. I think Jones is worth what he’s earning, and so is Grimes. Not sure that anyone else makes enough to save us much cap space, so I guess it’s Odrick and Starks, and I think we’re drafting defensive front 7 players in April for some reason.
Top Defensive cap hits for the 2015 Fins followed by potential cap relief (negative numbers are cap hits, postive numbers are relief) if they were to be traded or released-all numbers in millions:
Wake, 10.45, 7.65
Grimes, 10, -2.025
Ellerbe, 9.85, 5.65
Jones, 7.76, 4.76
Finnegan, 6.48, 5.48
Starks, 6, 5
Jordan, 5.61, -1.06
Mitchell, 4.5, 4.5
Misi, 4.44, 2.7
Wheeler, 4.4, .20
As you can see the biggest relief would come from Wake, Ellerbe, Finnegan, Starks, Jones and Mitchell.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to start revamping too many areas. Build on the good players, keep developing young players, add a few pieces in FA and draft well.
That said, we are going to purge some players with new talent. I’d prefer to keep Starks and cut back on his snaps and add an anchor type DT to the rotation with Mitchell and have Fede do some of Odrick’s role.
I keep Jones, Wake, Grimes, and Mitchell….everyone else can walk.
I tend to agree with this. Also, I think Finnegan is a prime cut candidate if they feel either of the young guys are finally ready to make the next step.
One other thing (don’t tell Stanger I said this) Fields almost MUST take a pay cut. Over 3m in salary. He’s a punter, and he had the shanks for the first quarter of the season this year. There’s no room for a 3m/year punter to EVER shank it really, let alone have slumps here and there.
Cutting Ellerbe, Starks and Finnegan wouldn’t hurt my feelings. WE NEED YOUNG STUDS!
I have to add there is a funny thing with the whole pickle thing and when I was in Charleston. We went into a nuts store that had every kind of flavored nuts you can think of and one of them was pickle flavored peanuts that I have yet to try. LOL
Tim – I told you we were joking about the pickle class a few days ago, apparently you don’t pay attention when I post! lol
I didn’t know what it was about. I posted the 2nd day I was on vacation and I see all these pickle comments and didn’t know what it was because the conversation I was involved in was days before I left and had nothing to do with me being the pickle boy. LOL
So I was wondering what the hell was going on and even thought maybe I was being impersonated and someone posted something crazy under my name.
I was using my iPhone and my wife’s iPad and didn’t have the time to go back and see what was up. I know you said it was a joke, but I didn’t know the extent of the joke.
It had nothing to do with me not being able to take a joke. I didn’t get it.
They’re tearing ass on sunlife
@TomGarfinkel: Second corner coming out, concrete being cleaned like new… http://t.co/dDvhsYb7cm
At least someone is doing is something productive in that stadium. 😈
Tim
You thought someone was impersonating you and saying they were practicing shoving pickle jars up their butt? LMAO!!!
I didn’t see the comments that started it so I was wondering where did this all come from. I was like where did this all come from. I had no idea what was up.
I was being Tommy two times there. LOL
Get the papers, get the papers.
LOL @ Tim – Good job Try!
So another Shula enters the NFL. Don’s grandson Chris Shula is now in charge of quality control coach on defense for the San Diego Chargers. I wouldn’t mind a Shula being a part of our team again someday.
The Don is on the board of directors. So it’s certainly possible.
I hope everyone voted on the Mike Wallace poll on the top right of the blog. Please vote! It’s your right as an FU blogger. lol
