Another Big 3 in Miami?
It is possible.
A Sonny Football Fantasy
By John D (son of a son of a shula)
The Miami Heat did it with Lebron, Dwayne and Bosh (hasn’t earned first name status), so why can’t another Miami team? One piece is in place – our newly acquired Ndamakong Suh and the other two are a possibility. Building a championship team requires either a lot of luck or simply having the best players at the most important positions. Having, or in this case building and fostering, a championship swag requires the correct pieces. There is a possibility that our Miami Dolphins could find themselves with three of the absolute most dynamic players in the game who play with a desire and passion few are able to equal.
The first piece, as said, is in place Suh will anchor our Defensive line and allow all pro Wake to feast on man blocking, Grimes less time to have to cover, Misi a clean shot at a back, Vernon the benefit of eaten up blockers, Jones the opportunity to jump a hot route. Play-making opportunities. Suh will allow our defense to control opponents in a way we haven’t seen in Miami since the Killer Bees were in business. The first of the triumvirate, Suh, is a monster who dominates offensive linemen like no other playing today. Let’s compare him to Dwayne Wade the first one here the rock the uncelebrated hero.
Now we’ll move on to round out the great Miami Triumvirate. Most if any of you will not like this but work with me this is Sonny Fantasy Football for now. Ryan Tannehill is a nice QB who is an ascending player with tremendous athletic ability and quite frankly a nice piece in a chess match to be great. You see we can trade Ryan before he gets really expensive and get another STAR. Entering the last year of his contract is the up to now unsigned Cam Newton. Cam straight up for Tannehill. Piece number 2 of the BIG three. A QB with tremendous fire, cannon arm and the best running ability for a QB we may have ever seen. Randall Cunningham plus 50 pounds. Cam would be Lebron, the man scoring and willing his team to victory.
So now you want to know who would be Bosh of the Triumvirate. He wants out of Minnesota, he’s just the best running back of this generation and he hasn’t won a title yet just the rest of the Big Three. We have picks for this year and next to facilitate a deal to bring in our Bosh. The enforcer, the scrappy finisher and the last member of the Big Three. Adrian Peterson in the same backfield as Cam Newton, and no one runs the read option better than Cam. And no one runs over Defenses better than Peterson.
This may be a lot to take in for you guys and you may think I’ve lost my mind but in todays climate and with this team mired in mediocrity why not take a shot at something great? Think of the composition of this team with Suh, Cam and AP with guys like a fired up Wake, Grimes, Albert, Pouncey, Delmas and Jones. Then factor in the second year guys who made a huge splash with the attitude and desire they brought in James and Landry. The swag or confidence oozes from this group as I envision it. Then think about adding that big receiver at 14. Instantly the Dolphins would become a favorite to compete for the Super Bowl.
I understand most people would neither like this or believe it would ever happen but I bring it up simply because the possibility exists. Cam Newton, like Chuck Pagano, will enter the season as it stands in lame duck status which means he may not get his big deal until next year when we will be prepared to pay a QB a big salary. Adrian Peterson, although under contract, wants out of Minnesota and it would seem the Vikings at some point will have to listen to trade offers. Does it take next year’s first rounder? I don’t know but a team will step up and get a deal done for Peterson.
The Triumvirate as I described would have most people in shock. You have a guy who steps on people, Peterson and his baggage and Cam with how polarizing he is but if you just look at how all three play on Sunday and what the impact the three together would have on a team you would have to admit it would be intriguing, exciting and incredible and you know you’d be watching, yes you do. It’s grandiose, but possible and possible is exciting. Let me just say this has more to do with Cam’s fire than wanting to move Tannehill for the sake of moving him. This scenario is simply about uniting similar minded players because the opportunity appears to exist.
Have at me I’ll wear Kevlar and a helmet.
Suh, Cam & AP – Imagine that

You are expelled. Cam fucking Newton? REALLY? GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE.
Cam Regular Season 3,127 18 12
Ryan Regular Season 4,045 27 12
Ryan Tannehill is a younger ascending Player And is already better than Cam fucking Newton
why not take a shot at something great?
You think Cam Newton is great??? LMAO
2014
Cam – 58.5% 18 TD 12 Int 82.1 rat
Ryan – 66.4% 27 TD 12 Int 92.8 rat
Yeah ……………
Downgrading at QB will make us great…
Before you wig out understand that Cam played hurt the entire year last year. Ribs early and like Misi had an ankle thing all year. But you like stats so check this out – Cam and the Panthers were 4-0 last December and went to the playoffs. Didn’t Tanny fail again to lead the team on a playoff run?
Sorry Son, I like you a lot, but your fantasy equates to having a threesome…………….. With FFR’s sister & Rosie O’donnel (FFR’s sister being the hot one)
You think we have O-line problems, you think Tanny lacked weapons. Go look back at what Cam did it with last year, you’ll feel pretty good about where we are but it doesn’t explain them being 4-0 in Dec and going to the playoffs while we are a paltry 2-3 and looking ugly in December and squandering a decent season to that point.
Well a bit of an “end of era” for us
Passed on our season tix
We have had the same seats for a decade
400’s rowdy
We were in the corner seats, row two
Had a great area full of long time season tix holders
New stadium design our seats no longer exist
With both the kids off to college
We have been on the fence for awhile
Being ousted from our seats really just
Helped to cement our decision
A few of our friends have also declined to re-up
Had a great run, but for now I will join
The TV crowd lol
Sorry man I just can’t let it go.
Cam Newton has never had a 2-1 TD to Int ratio
And he is never broken 88.8 quarterback rating
Son
I would Love AP in a fins Uni !!!!!!!!!!!!
But I’ll have to agree with Rock on Cam (Fig) Newton!
Nice write
Son I feel strongly enough about this to put my money where my mouth is.
I will bet you $100 that Ryan Tannehill finishes this season with better stats than Cam Newton. Including weight loss.
Old Dolphan can vouch for me I pay my debts
Win / loss not weight loss
Passing stats We are talking about a quarter back here
total yardage completion percentage touchdowns passer rating wins and losses 100 bucks
Son,
I’ve said my piece on Scam Newton.
Unwritten rules in the NFL (running backs edition):
1. Don’t reach for RBs in the draft.
2. Don’t overpay for RBs, particularly after they have played over their 3.8 avg lifespan.
3. Don’t get too excited about 30 y/o RBs.
4. Once a player misses an entire season, they don’t come back as the same player as they left, and they never come back as good or better than they were.
I expect an argument from those on the blog who, you know- like to argue. I realize there are exceptions to these, but as they say, that just proves the rule.
Good points on RB and I would agree almost 100% of the time but AP has proven to be special (talking on field) his entire career if anything last year was a good chance for his body to get some extra rest.
Also, I know many don’t like Cam. I like him, he and Suh the year before have been 2 of my favorite players to come along in a long time. Forget how you feel about the player and think of his intensity and fire mixed with Suh and then add AP it would be a wild ride for sure.
Okay I have been blogging while driving bad bad bad rock then I’m at work and will not be able to blog today catch up tonight
Rock, I would never bet against anything Dolphins, sorry man ain’t gonna happen.
but you would trade away our better starting quarterback for a lesser starting quarterback?
I think I would actually. Do you know Cam has averaged 28.75 TD’s per year since entering the league compared to the 22.333 Tannehill has averaged. Think we could have won a few more games with those 6 TD’s? I do.
passing vs running I don’t want a running back chucking the ball he is a chucker again I am discussing quarterbacks not running backs
Okay now I really have to go to work
And I believe Cam Newton has reached his ceiling N Ryan Tannehill has not
Cam will get in a mother fuckers face, Opie not so much. Anyway, I’m really not a Tannehill hater at all, I think we’re lucky to have him I just love what Cam brings that’s all.
Good morning! Sonny, you’ve lost your mind! I know you love Cam, but I maintain he’s not as good a QB as Tannehill. He may be a better athlete, but Tannehill is the better QB. Let it go, let it go . . . . How about we get a dominant O-line, and start enforcing our will on BOTH sides of the ball? Get me one of the better OL in this draft, preferably La’el Collins, and let’s start pushing people around on offense and defense. I know what you don’t like about Tanny, he doesn’t have the killer instinct. Maybe he just hasn’t showed it yet. I say give him some more time. He’s growing nicely, and has progressed each season, which is more than I can say for Cam. I wouldn’t mind AP here, but I’m not going to overpay to bring him here.
Regardless, I like your effort, and your thinking a little outside the box, I just don’t embrace the idea.
It’s more about the type of player. Don’t you see similarities to how Suh, Cam and AP approach the game? And I needed another big name to add to my story to compare to the Miami Heat and what they did. Although Suh and AP alone may outweigh the Heat big 3 I still needed the third name for the story. And Cam and Ryan are both looking for deals.
Maybe, but you don’t need your QB to be that type of player. Griese wasn’t, Morrall wasn’t. They let the big uglies do the dirty work, you don’t want or need your Qb to be a battering ram. Tannehill is tough, he took a beating and got up off the turf every time. Maybe it will click with him that he’s a good QB, and he’ll go to the next level. I’d bet on him, because he HAS progressed each year.
Ok, can’t humor a Cam for Ryan Swap at all. That’s a huge downgrade. Also It might be best to keep Cam out of any locker room containing Suh after his calling Suh Donkey Kong. Yes he apologized later, but I’m pretty positive Suh isn’t a forgiving person & when he hates you, he’ll try to kill you…..just ask Cutler.
I knew this would make you and GDP insane.
Not insane, just would never do it. And like I said, there’d be a chance after last season Suh would take Newton out on the practice field.
Ok, I have to go. This really isn’t a Tannehill hit piece its just something that popped in my mind when I heard that Carolina has yet to lock up Cam long term and he’ll enter the season as a lame duck unless a deal gets done.
I’m couldn’t he happier about just having Suh, its still unbelievable to me. Woo hoo
Have a great day!
Later Sonny!
I do thank you for writing this. I admit it is provocative (in the good sense of the word), and am always grateful for the effort people put into giving us things to discuss here. That goes for all of you who contribute.
Sorry I missed you
catch up later
that post sounded really ghey without the ctah up later part….lol
Just for the record – going from 22.3 TD’s a year to 28.75 is upgrading actually – just sayin’
Newton has regressed since his rookie year, while Tannehill is ascending nicely. I just can’t see it at all.
Also won is known for pouting in adverse situations while the other pulls his dick out of the dirt and continues to fight in those situations.
LMFAO….one not won
Tannehill better watch his dick in the dirt, Suh may step on it. lol
LOL…..Suh would rip Newtons glue it to Cam’s chin and use it as a speed bag.
LMAO @ D-Bolt!
Ok, so Hickey is in trade down mode….here we go, LOL.:
Your Picks:
Round 2 Pick 7 (CHI): T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh (A-)
Round 2 Pick 15: Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF (A)
Round 2 Pick 21 (CINN): Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart & William Smith (B+)
Round 2 Pick 30 (G.B.): Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut (A)
Round 3 Pick 2 (TENN): Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami (Fla.) (C)
Round 3 Pick 7 (CHI): Derron Smith, FS, Fresno State (A-)
Round 3 Pick 30 (G.B.): Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon (C)
Round 4 Pick 15: Lorenzo Mauldin, OLB/DE, Louisville (A)
Round 4 Pick 21 (CINN): B.J. Finney, C, Kansas State (A)
Round 5 Pick 13: Jake Ryan, OLB/ILB, Michigan (B)
Round 5 Pick 14: Chris Conley, WR, Georgia (C)
Round 6 Pick 15: Malcolm Brown, RB, Texas (A-)
I generally like it
I don;t know much about Clemmings
but I like Marpet
and Perriman is defiantely growing on me
And you got Ifooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
who I think would excel in our system
I don;t love your LBs though
In regards to the LBs it was a pick your poison. I picked Mauldin as a DE.
Son, I agree with you on Suh but not into Cam Newton and I don’t see it with AP, he’s not going to play on the cheap and I wouldn’t pay big money for a 30 year old RB with a lot of wear and tear on him.
Son
Great piece
I love the Miami Heat comparison
I knew you would take a lot of shit about Cam though
I happen to love Tanny
but I also like Cam Newton a lot and I think he has special gifts that sperate him from most QBs.
One day I bet Newton is part of a high scoring NFL offense that nears record books
But he just hasn’t done it yet
Tanny has incredible short and medium range accuracy. I think he does that better than Cam ever will, I think we are on our way to saying Tanny is one of the best in the NFl at those throws. I would like Tanny to be a little more ginslingeresque – but maybe he is just not ready for it. Cam on the other hand was born to be sensational and I love the player and would love to root for him on my team (een though I enjoy rooting for Tanny)
You see the flashes from Ryan in that pure gunslinger mode. I think that mode is also feast or famine. You look at the second game versus the Pats last year. If you’re winging it deep going for that kill shot the players on the other end need to finish the play also. That game should’ve been a lot closer, but their were to many shots deep that weren’t finished. Wallace and Ryan upheld their end of the deal, but Hartline, Williams, & Matthews did not. I think the following week vs the Vikings you saw it again. That final Jets game….well we know the story on that.
I think they have had the trainign wheels on Tanny
and its a good thing
its part of the developmental process
but he is probably getting tot he point where he can take more chances
and should take more chances – without it costing the team
In the long run that is what will sperate him from other QBs
I agree its feast or famine
but I think in the NFL, you need to be ready to feast to get to the next level
So that means you have to risk famine
Not disagreeing with you. I think the change in WRs and in TE shows they are trying to get finishers for those big play attempts.
Also think last year Lazor didn’t trust the offensive group as a whole. We know the OL issues, but we had veteran WRs still struggling at the end of the year to line up properly and we had to keep burning TOs due to it. Hoping this isn’t an issue moving forward.
Son, you have too much to drink last night???? Put the pipe down bro….Trade Tannehill??? Really??? for Cam Newton of all people??? You’d think he was from UCF or something the way you endorse him….SMH, sorry, I just don’t get it it all.
The first team that would trade you for Tanny would be Belicheat knowing Brady is almost done. Yeah, that would be sweet. Then see who is better, scores more points, Newton or Tannehill….lol
Here’s one with no trades:
YOUR TEAM: MIAMI DOLPHINS
Your score is: 6564 (GRADE: A-)
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 14: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama (A)
Round 2 Pick 15: Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson (A)
Round 4 Pick 15: Eric Rowe, CB/FS, Utah (A-)
Round 5 Pick 13: Lorenzo Doss, CB, Tulane (A-)
Round 5 Pick 14: Jamil Douglas, OG, Arizona State (A)
Round 6 Pick 15: Malcolm Brown, RB, Texas (A-)
Your Future Picks:
2016 Round 1 Pick
2017 Round 1 Pick
Eric Rowe is moving up, sadly we may miss him.
That’s ok as Adrian Amos was available the next round😀
Kool, I like his skill set….just needs more time to refine.
Yeah, Amos is a guy Id love playing on this defensive secondary. Plays fast and angry. Myain concern was his aggression penalties where he’d get a PF. Im no longer concerned about that as I think his aggressiveness matches where we are trying to get on this defense.
Dbolt, that’s what happens we (Gibson and Wallace) don’t even pay attention in meetings. SMH
Yep…..quit fucking off. I think a lot is going to change this year, as we’ve said any times here that Landry is the unquestioned leader of the WR room has been echoed by many within the organization and just recently repeated by Matt Moore.
I don’t get how teams with no QB like the texans and the bills win 9 games last year and we only win 8. When I look at those rosters I don’t think they’re better than ours and we have a QB.
I’m still pissed at how this team under achieves every year.
Don’t worry
This is the year!!!
😉
😉
Boulder there is supposed to be a wink on both those posts…I don;t know whay I can;t do a winking smiley
They both are winks.
weird
it shows up opn mu phone but not my work computer
Does my work censor winks….lol
I think Misi has a chance to excel behind Suh
But he needs to stay ont he field
Jenkins looked good last year – but really he was the best LB in a weak group
I don;t knon what Tripp and McCain are yet
I still like the idea of drafting 2 LBs in the draft
we have 2 5th round picks
Why not pick up a guy like Hicks or5 Heeney if they are ther ein the 4th or 5th
So this is the idiot who’s to blame! 😉
LMFAO
LOL, you shall soon reap the wrath of Gigi and Herd.
Here is one of those realistic trade down drafts
Round 1 Pick 20 (PHI): Eric Kendricks, ILB/OLB, UCLA (B)
Round 2 Pick 11 (CLE): Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF (A)
Round 2 Pick 19 (HOU): Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart & William Smith (B)
Round 3 Pick 20 (PHI): Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami (Fla.) (B)
Round 3 Pick 26 (BALT): Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon (B)
Round 3 Pick 27 (DAL): Gerod Holliman, FS, Louisville (A-)
Round 4 Pick 14 (PHI): Ben Heeney, ILB, Kansas (B)
Round 4 Pick 15: Nick O’Leary, TE, Florida State (B+)
Round 5 Pick 13: Geneo Grissom, OLB, Oklahoma (C+)
Round 5 Pick 14: Austin Shepherd, OT, Alabama (A-)
Round 6 Pick 15: Tyler Varga, FB, Yale (A)
LOL. yup very realistic.
Really? How did you get a 2nd, three 3rds when we didn’t have one and an additional 4th?
I don’t see how any of this is possible.
its possible through the magic of pig farts
Boulder,
Remember the old saying about needing to win in your own division if you expect to go anywhere?
Texans/Bills were 4-2 in their own division while Miami was 3-3 (Miami was 2-4 last year in the AFC East). Texans had an easier time of course having the Titans/Jags to beat up on (Colts went 6-0 in the division which is the only division team the Texans lost to last year).
Bills/Texans defenses were just better than Miami’s while their offenses were all about the same in giving the ball away.
2014 points differential for each team -> Bills +54, Texans +65, Miami +15
2014 rank for Bills in Takeaways per game? #3 in the NFL; Texans? #1 in the NFL. Miami? #17.
2014 rank for Bills in Giveaways per game? tied for 9th with Miami/Texans among other teams (9 teams tied between #9-17; so that’s around NFL average on a per game basis).
that’s cause we couldn’t beat the 4-12 jets at home the last game of the year to go to 9-7.
So who do you blame for our defense? The defense that was actually playing pretty well at the beginning of the year. But now according to our coach its too complicated for the players and they have to dumb it down. This is after 3 years of the same defense. SMH.
Al, good point on divisions…I think Son got excited by seeing how many points Carolina with Cam Newton score, but not sure he noticed the division they’re in…LOL, The Bucs, Falcons & Saints defenses were horrible, all gave up over 410 points on the season.
I don’t buy into the whole division thing. Its like injuries. Other teams have to deal with the same. Look st AFC north last year. Really tough division. 3 teams made the playoffs.
To me the schedule and injuries are just excuses.
Son — that was one well written article. How good?…….you actually got me thinking about Cam instead of Tanny. And you didn’t even include what we could get for Tanny and what we could use that for. He’s got be worth a top ten pick right now (I’m assuming the trading team would be able to exercise his 5th year option or we could before trading).
Where it breaks down though is if Cam Newton shows it. Then he is gonna want to get paid just as much as Tanny would. So no cap gain, just a straight switch of QBs. And I’ll take Tanny with an arrow up, plus I like the kid.
Seriously??? WOW smh
Funny I was at a game where Cam Newton beat us at home and Tannehill had a chance to win it at the end and we lost. Not only has Cam been injured that team has had a lot of injuries like we have. I think they both are kind of similar QBs except that Cam can throw the deep ball accurately and he is a far better runner. It’s a nice fantasy anyway — great job Son!! 🙂

LOL, Boulder, the AFC North played the NFC South last year…look it up. They all got healthy playing that division, even the lowly Browns.
we lost to 3-12 jets. that’s why we finished 8-8. When we had the chance to stay in the playoff hunt we chocked against the ravens. So give me a break with the whole schedule thing. You can make that excuse all you want but the reason we finished 8-8 had nothing to do with schedule and more to do with our play on the field.
LOL @ the Cam Newton stuff
I guess fans are bored.
I guess so, even Stanger is intrigued above on what we could get for Tanny. I just don’t get the line of thinking….Yeah, let’s really fuk up what we got going now. 😯
It’s so unrealistic like these many of these mock drafts it’s not worth seriously discussing.
I think Stanger is being a bit sarcastic LOL
Boulder,
Better coaching would have won the Packers, Lions, & Denver game.
As well as others!!!
Clay could’ve won the Lions game also😄
I don’t disagree.
(Piggy farts and leaves the blog)
I think everyone is just being nice to Son since he took time to write us an article.
No offense Son, I applaud the effort. Usually me and you are on same page. But interesting opinion piece to say the least.
Watch something get said on the same subject by Omar, then we’ll really know he steals from us…LOL.
Ahh, the off season doldrums. 😉
Speaking of Omar, looks like he just made sure we get my boy…lol
Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly
“@ManOfSteel_13: what about Dorial Green-Beckham? Any chance the Dolphins grab him at 14?”» I’ve only said NO to this 100 times already
lol.
The 2015 team is going to be quite different in personnel and experience with some young players, so I’ve put 2014 season behind me. If this team can’t take the next step we’ll likely have a new coaching staff. Let’s hope we make the playoffs and keep building this team to get better.
Amen brother Tim!

I think we’re having two entirely different discussions bro. I saw where you mentioned how tough the AFC North was, and also the convo was including how great this Cam Newton crap was…so I was pointing out that crap division in the NFC South last year.
I never said a damn thing about the Phins or how we played. Yes we collapsed down the stretch AGAIN. For that, I assert it to coaching & defense mostly.

Improved from his 4.93 RT @aandro: TCU linebacker Paul Dawson ran 40 times of 4.78 and 4.82 today.
He brought a baby grand piano with him this time.
Good for him. His 40 time is only going to keep him out of the 1st round and maybe early 2nd round. His game tape is still going to get him drafted by probably the 3rd round at the least.
Ian Wharton @NFLFilmStudy 2m2 minutes ago
Draft Twitter has been way ahead of him all along RT @zjwhitman: So have we all finally agreed that Eric Rowe is a 1st-rounder?
Utah DB Eric Rowe “is flying up draft boards and most feel there’s no way he gets out of the second round,” reports TFY Draft Insider’s Tony Pauline.
Last week, Pauline reported Rowe had visits scheduled with the Dolphins, Ravens and Lions, and now he passes along that the Philadelphia Eagles “are very high on Rowe, who’s drawing intrigue based on his size/speed and ability to line-up at either cornerback or safety.” The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Rowe ran a 4.45 40 at the combine.

Some of the discussions here talk about demand at pick 14.
Couple things that may get into the way of Miami looking to trade down is the Raiders & Skins looking to do the same at higher positions (with the possibility Raiders willing to take just a 2nd RDer moving down 10 spots).
Thinking about the scenarios, it seems Arizona & perhaps the Ravens might be looking to get in around that 14th pick if Todd Gurley & Jaelen Strong are up for grabs then.

There was a bit of that, but Son made a good case. I have a great appreciation for creative outside the box solution. Come up with 19 that no one else would think of that just won’t work when you get into the details and one that will…..and you are a visionary.
Matt Miller @nfldraftscout · 13m13 minutes ago
I feel very good about this: Kevin Johnson has the best footwork of any cornerback in this class. @KevJr9
Not put some meat on dem bones!
^now^
Tim,
I don’t think the personnel will be all that different except of course the Suhnami factor :).
Kudos to Hickey/Tannenbaum putting emphasis on foundation pieces which starts at the lines (DT & OL).
WR, TE, DB and LB will look different, no? I was also touching on younger players being more of a factor.
Al, I hope Gurley & Strong are there @ #14…I’d trade down in a hurry if another team wants either!!!
Matt Miller @nfldraftscout · 10m10 minutes ago
Haven’t gone through them all, but PJ Williams is very good RT @illumiscotty_: best run support CB in this class?
I like PJ…he could turn out better than Patrick Robinson
Son,
Thanks for the article. It got us on a different topic for a bit so I like that. Just like you, I loved Cam out of college and wish he went to a team that had supported him better. They dumped off all of his WRs, kept overpaid RBs instead of investing elsewhere, and Jerry has always been a cheap skate. They wasted his best years.
With that said, we’ve now tailored this O to Tanny and he’s young and ascending. Not only that, but he’s a lot more durable than Cam. Most sacked QB and he still jumping up like a kid. Cam doesn’t have that anymore and I don’t see him really getting better at this point. He is a dual threat that is losing his dual abilities(speed and durability). I’ll go with Tanny who had quite good stats last year.
AP…nah, if I was going there, get Gurley. Younger, easier to get, available at 14 IMO. I’m not for that but I do really like him.
Suh…We GOT THE SUH!!!!! Yeah!
I’m alsmost sure Gurley and strong will be there at 14
I also think both willbe very good int he NFL
I’d still take the trade offer unless it was ridiculous.
I would too even though I like both players a lot
I just don;t see some one trading up for them
AZ and Baltimiore are probably int he right place to select those 2 guys
Its mor eplasuible to me that we trade down to take onof those guys, than it is for some one to trade up and take one of thise guys
For gurley it will be a classic case of risk/reward. The injury is there but if he’s healthy, he will be the best in the NFL at his position or top 3.
GDP
I haven’t looked into the top CB’s (as I think we don’t take one until the 5th
I like Doran Grant, CB/S, Ohio State a lot !!!!!!!
I like Paul Dawson, glad he did a little better. My guess is he didn’t do all that fancy training before the combine to improve his drills. He’s a good player that I wouldn’t mind having here.
As long as he wasn’t doing the Tootsies work out! 😉
Wyo,
I like Marcus Peters. He’s got the right mix of aggressiveness with physical WR and seems to play well in zone (reads QB eyes well).
Interesting article:
@Cianaf: I charted all of Teddy Bridgewater’s deep throws and Mike Wallace’s deep targets http://t.co/IFwOMWZpvj
That one handed attempt pissed me off to no end that day. Easy TD just wasted because he didn’t try to catch like WR does—with two hands.
Yep. The stats were interesting though. 35 deep passes for Wallace this year & 20 were on point and out of those 20 Wallace came down with 12. So the deep ball was actually more accurate than what it’s made out to be.
The thing about Dawson is that he is exceptional in coverage
So why so much emphasis on his combine numbers
What he did at TCU speaks for itself
I would be more concerned about his practice/film habits
rumors state he is lazy about those things
and that won;t hack it int he NFL
but I don;t care what his 40 time is
brandon spikes was slower, and he helped the Cheats nab a 3rd round comp pick….lol
Because the NFL has superior athletes and he may lack the range at the next level.
81yo Willie got it right. Look at the rollin tray in front of him…LOL
Willie Nelson plans to open marijuana dispensaries across the United States
The longtime marijuana enthusiast’s blazing business is called Willie’s Reserve.
Randy Gregory—how has this guy affevted all your guys fantasy drafts.Dolphins might have some serious discussions if the guy falls to us. From Nebraska same as Suh and the guy is a very good prospect who is head and shoulders above the rest of DE/LB.
Gregory is a beast
and he is dropping
I don;t see DE as a priority
but exceptional talent is exceptional talent
Stop smiking the weed though Gregory – you might go top 5
I know a lot of people liek Darby and Willaims
but the best DB at FSU was Jalen Ransey
and he won;t be avialble until next year
😦
Keep an eye on Ramsey
maybe next year is the year to nab a Safety
I think this guy can be special
Question
we take Parker R1
Denzel Perryman, ILB, Miami
Benardrick McKinney*, ILB/OLB, Mississippi State
Paul Dawson, ILB, TCU
Are all there @ R2
Who do you take?
Phillip Dorsett round 2 or Mopart. In round 4 I pick up Mike Hull😆
McKinney, very close 2nd would be Perryman…IMO.
Damarious Randall, S, Arizona State
Perryman, or McKinney
jetssuck
There are quite a few good DE prospects in this draft, but I don’t think that’s where we’re looking. We have a lot of DE’s on the roster right now.
D-Bolt
Does Mopart have a hemi engine? 😉
Maybe…😂
for CB/DB, I like the freak Byron Jones. Yeah, he’s raw in technique, but isn’t DB’s Coyle’s pet project?
It seems to me that you can get an ILB in the 4th round. I’m not sold that many of these guys are worth 2nd rd picks.
I hope we see Stephone Anthony waiting for us with our 4th round pick…but it isn’t gonna happen….probably need a 3rd to get him…IMO.
Jetssuck,
We all expect Gregory to go top 10 that’s why
He might not now. He’s like Willie Nelson above. LOL
He rides on Willie’s bus to games.
lol, yea I know but that news didn’t surface till this week. You know what I mean 😛
I can just see GDP working the Fins phone on draft day..
“Yea can you hold on a sec Ozzie? I got Steve (Arizona GM) asking me something”.
lol.
Right on, that’s the way to do it. The art of the deal !!!
GD, I know people keep saying this guy and that guy won’t be there for us in this round or that round. This goes on every year. Remember all the positions that will be picked so some prospects have to fall. ILB is not a premium position anymore unless they’re a special 3 down talent.
We all know from fantasy football drafts that thing can spiral out of hand depending on how shifting perceptions from various owners happen in real time. Desperation at heat of the moment, a shift in things based on others decisions causes a change of plans etc.
Correct, and there are a few 3 down type ILB’s in this class, Kendricks & Anthony stand out to me, maybe Dawson & Wilson too.
Marpet is my 2015 Bitonio.
In fact we should just call the most underrated interior OL a Bitonio every year just because it sounds so damn good :).
“hey, look at that Bitonio!”.
Tim,
I really like what I see on tape from Michigan’s LB Jake Ryan.
Hopefully Ross is a fan too and lets Hickey know about it LOL.
We all know there are other prospects besides the ones mentioned here that get picked. So I’m sure there will be a surprise pick here and there where fans scramble to read up on them. I know I’ve done that a lot over the years. LOL
LOL, yep, always happens.
Who the fuck is that we just picked? I didn’t even have him on my board. How could we pass on him, him, him and him? LOL
Al shags on a Marpet Carpet!
Al, You may have saw I was mentioning my likes on Jake Ryan the other day. He’d be a good add in the 5th if still there. Let him & Tripp compete.

LOL, love ya Randy …I hope we sure fix the interior OL situation via this draft & FA period.
Randy: “Behind every sack there’s an asshole!”
In Randy’s mind he sees body parts and the QB position in the same light.
lol Dbolt.
You may have something there if we draft him LOL.

Don’t care anymore. These mocks are beyond beyond overkill. LOL
Tim might actually have a campaign similar to my Lynch campaign if we draft Varga.
Tim
When I had the draft party, we were all saying shit like your 1:11PM post. We were really getting pissed off! Piggy was freaking every time a samurai came off the board, and in general, we were thoroughly unimpressed with the way Ireland screwed up that draft. I know you love Aikens, but if that’s all we have to hang our hat on from that draft, it’s abonimable.
Aikens?
Never mind, Aikens was last year. I guess Dion Sims is all we have to thank for from that draft, unless Taylor or Davis can get healthy for an entire season, or Jordan finally reaches his potential
Did you mean Taylor?
I’m Aiken for a breakout campaign in year 2!
OUCH what a comparison!!!!!!!!!!
Linebacker Stephone Anthony, Clemson (6’3″, 243 pounds)
STRENGTHS: An easy-moving linebacker who jumped off the field at the Senior Bowl and quickly made an impact, Stephone Anthony looks like an NFL starter on the hoof. He has an athletic, solid build backed up by impressive agility and speed. He’s a producer as a tackler and shows the lateral ability to make plays outside the tackle box. He’s smooth enough as a mover to play well in coverage and can lock up tight ends or jam slot receivers. Coaches rave about his work ethic.
WEAKNESSES: Going back to his junior season, Anthony lost his starting job and had to earn it back. He gets too shy when asked to shut down a run lane and will hesitate to close the hole. When engaged by blockers in the lane, he’ll get hung up and can tie himself to blockers too often. His instincts are only average, and he’ll get caught watching the play.
PRO COMPARISON: Karlos Dansby, Cleveland Browns
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2410272-nfl-draft-2015-matt-millers-latest-scouting-notebook
Dansby was a damn good player, except when he thought he was a hippo during training camp and the preseason.
Are FFR & David visiting Indiana?
Mystery odor at Muncie Walmart sends 8 to hospital
MUNCIE — Authorities were called to the north Muncie Walmart store late Wednesday, when customers reportedly complained of breathing difficulties after an unusual odor was detected in the store.
Kyle Monroe, a Muncie Police Department detective investigating the incident early Thursday, said he believed eight people, including Walmart employees, had been examined at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in the wake of the incident, reported about 10:30 p.m.
LOL — but leave David alone. He’s done the time for the crime on that one. And ffr is pretty sweet smelling actually. 🙂
Mike E, I’m not talking about who we ended up with vs. who we could have gotten in drafts, I was just pointing out the fan reactions. It happens every year I do think some of it is funny. Everyone was pissed when we drafted Clay and not Virgil Green.
I still have hope for the depth of the 2013 and 2014 drafts.
I remember a lot of guys goo goo over OT Johnathan Cooper…has he made any noise yet in Arizona?
I mean OG^^^
I was one of them, but I didn’t complain when he wasn’t the pick. I believe he broke his leg in the PS as a rookie and has never been the same.
Think about 2013 again and everyone bitching when Miami traded up to number 3…..”I can’t believe we’re trading up for fucking Lane Johnson!” I remember doing an article just cutting and pasting the reactions.
Wyoming, I like Anthony, he jumped out at me way back in this draft talk process. His few weaknesses can easily be coached as he gains experience. His combine showed things you can’t coach.

Denzel Perryman, ILB, Miami — he is a tackling machine and a stud
Piggy has seen him play and is an unbiased FSU alum & fan – he knows this guy is the real deal and NOBODY on our present defense (aside from Suh) can hit guys (legally) as hard as this guy
We’ll see when he gets to the NFL if that translates.

@OptimumScouting I agree w/ what you wrote today; think trade with Arizona/Ravens might be best shot if Gurley/Strong around.

@TheHungryCondor I’ve heard both of those interests are very legit. Ravens especially with Ngata picks + having comp picks to replace
I’m starting to sour on Parker in light of what I see in guys like Perriman & Hardy (thanks to those pulling me to looking at them again). I’m a big fan of Coates as well.
Hardy & Perriman can flip their hips in traffic and be absolute hell in RAC.

Thats where im at. McKinney, then Perryman, and i wouldn’t be upset with them taking whichever they wanted were both available.
Maybe if we had someone who could put this up here on the wall?
You know one of them there questions thingies with the multiple choice answers that come up to a percentage after people choose?

I wanted Lane Johnson….would have been better off today with him..

LOL. I was fine with Lane or Cooper…..I see being ok with Cooper looks bad now😬
lol. We all would have done better by default in RD 3 though for sure ….or that fucking year Parcells decided to draft Pat White in RD 2.
Tim,
I like Perryman but understand your size argument. I think Perryman plays bigger than his size though, his body is definitely stocky and muscular at 240.
Upside with Perryman to me is that he was playing in a terrible scheme at U Miami and may do better in the NFL.
I like him too. But I’ve seen guys touted for college production struggle at the next level.
I think what Tim was getting at was that Perryman would obliterate offensive players on the college level when he hit them doesn’t mean he’s gauranteed to do it in the NFL. I think because of his compact build he should still be able to do it, but we’ll see what happens the first time a HB flattens him head on. I think he’ll try to kill the back on there next collision, but we don’t know yet.
Exactly! We tend to forget that Perryman like many draft prospects are better than a lot of competition they faced in college. That won’t be the case in the NFL.
Dbolt, I’d take Perriman over Hardy….IMO. I just think he’ll be much more physical. We need that.
As I’ve stated so many times before, Hardy is a replica of Antonio Brown and he’s one of the most dependable WRs you’ll see coming out of a draft. Perriman is a whole different beast if he hits his ceiling. There are no true comparisons to his pure physical ability. I’ll take either as both are noted for high character and great work ethic.
Anyone see FFR? I hope he didn’t get throat punched.
Tim / Dbolt,
I see Perryman as an effort guy and not so much a guy shredding opponents.
What I’m saying is he’s a power hitter who rarely had someone hit him back with equal or more power. Hes not flashy, but he hits with brute force.
GDP,
Perriman & Coates have the strongest core strength (mid/lower body) IMO out of the WR ive seen in the top 20.
That’s a big deal in the NFL game!
Tim
I’m pretty sure Perryman is legit
He is just a classic MLB instead if a Kendricks type that maybe is a little more athletic and better in coverage
I don’t think Perryman is bad in coverage
I just don’t think it’s his strong suit
Playing behind Suh if we had Perryman I bet our run D would be awesome
He is the type of LB that would thrive IMO
See my reply to Dbolt at 2:33. I’m not saying he won’t be good.
Exactly….just saying let it play out.
At less than 240 lbs and under 6 feet; one isn’t a classic MLB.
Dawson and Kendricks will have to prove history wrong at MLB; both may be outside LB in the NFL.
Mosley & Alonso were less than 240 pre-draft but they at least measured in at 6-2. Same for Keuchley who was 6-3 and a shade under 240.
A value guy such as Ramik Wilson is under 240 but stands 6-2.
I see the London Fletcher argument playing out for Perryman but Fletcher was much faster and clocked in a 40 time in the 4.40s back in his day.
Mike Hull damnit!!!!
Ray Lewis, if anyone is thinking of comparing Perryman to him, stood 6-1 and 240 and also ran a 40 time under 4.6 at his pro day (shit the bed at the combine i believe by only running a 4.7).

———————————————————————–
he could play OLB as dion jordan and that’s what ireland said coyle wanted as a player who can play multiple positions as in de/olb. Jordan may not be that player or maybe it’s taking longer for him to learn 2 positions. Plus Wake has 1 or 2 years left.
Dbolt, Mike Hull is undersized too. That doesn’t mean he won’t pan out, but it’s hard to take undersized guys early on.
6-0 237 isn’t really that big a deal. His onfield production along with his combine performance essentially keeps him on even footing with the rest of the top MLB field.
40 YARD DASH: 4.68 SEC
BENCH PRESS: 31 REPS
3 CONE DRILL: 6.99 SEC
20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.15 SEC
60 YARD SHUTTLE: 11.52 SEC
Dbolt,
I like Hull too, you know that :). Would make for a nice 3rd-4th RDer or lower.
But in the context of risk/reward and where some want Perryman drafted (RD 2) that’s what I’m talking about in terms of size/weight at the position.
