The Miami Heat did it with Lebron, Dwayne and Bosh (hasn’t earned first name status), so why can’t another Miami team? One piece is in place – our newly acquired Ndamakong Suh and the other two are a possibility. Building a championship team requires either a lot of luck or simply having the best players at the most important positions. Having, or in this case building and fostering, a championship swag requires the correct pieces. There is a possibility that our Miami Dolphins could find themselves with three of the absolute most dynamic players in the game who play with a desire and passion few are able to equal.
The first piece, as said, is in place Suh will anchor our Defensive line and allow all pro Wake to feast on man blocking, Grimes less time to have to cover, Misi a clean shot at a back, Vernon the benefit of eaten up blockers, Jones the opportunity to jump a hot route. Play-making opportunities. Suh will allow our defense to control opponents in a way we haven’t seen in Miami since the Killer Bees were in business. The first of the triumvirate, Suh, is a monster who dominates offensive linemen like no other playing today. Let’s compare him to Dwayne Wade the first one here the rock the uncelebrated hero.
Now we’ll move on to round out the great Miami Triumvirate. Most if any of you will not like this but work with me this is Sonny Fantasy Football for now. Ryan Tannehill is a nice QB who is an ascending player with tremendous athletic ability and quite frankly a nice piece in a chess match to be great. You see we can trade Ryan before he gets really expensive and get another STAR. Entering the last year of his contract is the up to now unsigned Cam Newton. Cam straight up for Tannehill. Piece number 2 of the BIG three. A QB with tremendous fire, cannon arm and the best running ability for a QB we may have ever seen. Randall Cunningham plus 50 pounds. Cam would be Lebron, the man scoring and willing his team to victory.
So now you want to know who would be Bosh of the Triumvirate. He wants out of Minnesota, he’s just the best running back of this generation and he hasn’t won a title yet just the rest of the Big Three. We have picks for this year and next to facilitate a deal to bring in our Bosh. The enforcer, the scrappy finisher and the last member of the Big Three. Adrian Peterson in the same backfield as Cam Newton, and no one runs the read option better than Cam. And no one runs over Defenses better than Peterson.
This may be a lot to take in for you guys and you may think I’ve lost my mind but in todays climate and with this team mired in mediocrity why not take a shot at something great? Think of the composition of this team with Suh, Cam and AP with guys like a fired up Wake, Grimes, Albert, Pouncey, Delmas and Jones. Then factor in the second year guys who made a huge splash with the attitude and desire they brought in James and Landry. The swag or confidence oozes from this group as I envision it. Then think about adding that big receiver at 14. Instantly the Dolphins would become a favorite to compete for the Super Bowl.
I understand most people would neither like this or believe it would ever happen but I bring it up simply because the possibility exists. Cam Newton, like Chuck Pagano, will enter the season as it stands in lame duck status which means he may not get his big deal until next year when we will be prepared to pay a QB a big salary. Adrian Peterson, although under contract, wants out of Minnesota and it would seem the Vikings at some point will have to listen to trade offers. Does it take next year’s first rounder? I don’t know but a team will step up and get a deal done for Peterson.
The Triumvirate as I described would have most people in shock. You have a guy who steps on people, Peterson and his baggage and Cam with how polarizing he is but if you just look at how all three play on Sunday and what the impact the three together would have on a team you would have to admit it would be intriguing, exciting and incredible and you know you’d be watching, yes you do. It’s grandiose, but possible and possible is exciting. Let me just say this has more to do with Cam’s fire than wanting to move Tannehill for the sake of moving him. This scenario is simply about uniting similar minded players because the opportunity appears to exist.

I’ve said this over and over. It’s why I wouldn’t take them early. You think just because you saw them blowing guys up in college means that’s exactly what will happen in the NFL, I say be careful with that. They may become more solid players than special. So pick them accordingly.

LB Taiwan Jones from Mich St. does get mentioned here. His recorded time is slow, but he’s got football quickness, good burst in initial 10 yards, is big, a thumper with long arms. He’s very durable and I think he played in every game over 4 years for the Sparty’s.

Lets use nfldraftscout’s top 10 rankings for example…
for 2015 ILB, McKinney (Mississippi St) & Anthony (Clemson) are the only ones above 240 in the top 5. Jones (Michigan St) is the only other one above 240 in the top 10.
Last year, 2014, 6 guys in the top 10 were > 240. 3 of top 5 > 240. Mosley was the top prospect at ILB at 236 but he stood 6-2.
2013? 6 guys in the top 10 > 240. 4 of top 5 were > 240. Kiko Alonso was 238 but stood 6-3.
2012? 8 guys in the top 10 > 240. 4 of top 5 were > 240. Mychal Kendricks came in as #3 rated ILB at 239 standing 5-11 but he at least ran a 4.44 sec 40 time (London Fletcher like).
2011? 6 guys in the top 10 > 240. 3 of top 5 were > 240. Casey Matthews was rated 4th at 231 lbs and 6-1.

Brock Hekking: Honestly, I think it was after my sophomore year in college. I went into school as biology major with the intention of going to dental school once I graduated. After that I started to work even harder with the goal in my mind and I haven’t looked back.
Now this kid has some talent, and a motor. I’d take a flyer on him with our 2nd 5th.

Take a look at his tape Tim. I think Dbolt suggested taking him in the 4th round, which would be a good spot to take a shot on him. He is technically sound and has excellent instincts.
I’m not saying some of these LBs aren’t worthy of being 3rd and 4th rd picks. I don’t think this LB class is good at the top. A lot of questions with all of them. I think 3-5 is where most of them should go.

I think it’s worse. Issues like this are why I doubt the majority of racism claims anymore. ITD once again a lack of accountability and it’s an easy out anymore to claim profiling. It is a sham like this that undermines legit cases.

I don’t ignore him, but I definitely do discount him. I think that’s fair. He’s not playmaker, and he’s never achieved 100 tackles, or really done anything special in his entire career. With his injury history, he’s tough to count on also. It’s just the way it is.

Any of those WRs would be great, Trae or Scherff or even Gurley or Gordon will all be stars in the NFL. Then you have a little reach for Kendricks and the CB Collins as well. There is almost no way we to have a bad pick this year @ 14. DGB is probably the least sure thing above besides Gurley’s injury and DGB’s measurables are astronomically good. Just tell him Suh will eat him if he f’s up and that should work. Get him in the room with steady Jarvis and Jordan Cameron and way-cool but hard-working Kenny Stills and they’ll help keep him straight as well. I want that DGB guy maybe most of all at #14.
Like I said, we’ll see on Misi. He was actually on pace for right around 100 tackles if he played in every game.
Also if you think we’re finding our MLB in the draft, good luck. I don’t see it. Not saying it can’t happen but I don’t expect it. That’s why I was interested in David Harris because I don’t see it from this draft class.

When did I say don’t draft a LB? I’ve said all along we will (WR, OL, LB and DB). I think we should target one who we think has a good chance to compete this year. But I don’t expect anyone to unseat a healthy Misi on the depth chart in TC. That’s all.
I’m not saying Misi is great, he’s solid. If he goes down someone else will have to play there and it might be Tripp.
So you’re posting stats to back your point, by showing he’s missed 12 games in 5 yrs. As long as you’re using stats… How many games did he play less than 20 snaps due to injury? How many games did he play more than 20, but had little impact due to playing injured?
Oy! Okay… we’ll replace Misi with ? mark guy. I didn’t mean to get into defense mode about this. I’m really not in the mood and none of us know the outcome now anyway. I’m all about having great competition in camp and letting it play out. I’m just not counting him out. 🙂

I know, this idea that I doubt that will happen with an average class of 4-3 LBs in this draft is just crazy talk. We’ll see what happens.
I see DT, DE/OLB (edge rushers), CB, WR and RB pushing the LBs down. Not even counting QB, OL and some TEs.
It’s not a great 4-3 LB class but I’m sure a few will pan out. My favorite is Kendricks (not necessarily at MLB), just don’t think he’s worthy at #14 on paper (he might be in 2-3 years just like Zach would have been worthy in the big scheme of things), but I don’t see him falling out of the 30s so after him I think there is a drop off.
All this said, I’m not a scout. Just going by my research and seeing consistent reports on these guys. I don’t have a horse in this race. I hope whoever we land is most awesome. LOL

Wasn’t sure before, but seems Dennis Hickey actually has been reading all those e-mails I sent him.
Well I stopped by to see what I missed and I see Son was hitting the sauce again. JKLOL. I actually like Newton a lot. However, I don’t see Newton as a significant upgrade if an upgrade at all over Tannehill. Newton got off to a faster start in his career but I think Tannehill has now surpassed Newton as a pure passer. Newton is still an incredible physical specimen and the best dual threat QB in the game but he is not as good of a passer as Tannehill is imo and Tannehill is a very good runner but not as good as Newton is. So bottom line I don’t see a significant upgrade with the proposed move.
In terms of AP I too think we would be better served drafting instead of investing heavily in a 30 year RB who just missed a full season. I suppose if we thought AP was the missing piece to a SB season I could see making that trade now but I still think we are a couple of pieces away from that level of competition. I see us a playoff contender but not a SB contender. I think you don’t make that move unless you are a SB contender. Instead I would rather see us keep the draft choices we would blow on such a trade and get those missing pieces that make us a SB contender.

Ken, i actually had been drinking before I wrote the article. A friend came over we had a hunk of meat on the grill and too many beers,
smoked up. The idea came to me just as saw Cam is being left out in limbo as of yet on his contract. I love Cam for the way he competes I’m fine with Ryan. Its just a pie in the sky thingI appreciate everyones feedback we had some fun with it.
If anyone did miss my earlier stat it’s Cam scoring an average of 28.75 TD’s per year and Ryan at 22.33333
Newton’s rushing totals really do bolster those TD numbers but passing TD totals Tannehill is right there with Newton and is trending upward. I would go with the better passer over the better running QB imo.

Actually I think taking a guy like Perriman who flashed at his pro day with a fancy number over a 3 year starter from a major college, even if he is an OG is that kind of thing that gets GM’s fired.

Yes but having Kenny Stills is probably worth that 3rd rounder. He will probably have a bigger impact this year than anyone we draft in the 3rd round. Plus he is young and ascending. That trade was one of my favorite moves of the off season.
He’s 2nd borderline 1st prospect. That’s why I’ve been saying he’s probably higher on most teams boards, especially Miami’s, than someone like Strong or even Parker. If your a team seeking Amare Coopers skillset then Agholor might be your #2 or #3 behind him.
I thought he was closer to a third. Maybe we grab him in the 2nd then if he’s still there, presuming we don’t take a WR at 14.

Well it sucks that we had to use a pick to get our speedy receiver when we already had one, teammate bullshit aside we used a pick to change a personality. So that part sucks but hopefully its better for the team going forward.
It would have been interesting if we could have kept Wallace and Stills but I guess the FO had enough of Wallace’s attitude.
I agree. I guess there was more going on behind the scenes that we were aware of, or this staff just has a low tolerance for that sort of behavior.
It’s obvious that Wallaces not only burned bridges, but detonated a bomb under them also. I had heard through the grapevine last month that two of our prominent defensive starters were out at a club in SanFran, these guys are still on the team, had some very strong opinions of Wallace. Contrary to what Miko tries to convey on Twitter that Wallace had his teammates backing it was quite contrary. These 2 defensive players literally still wanted to beat the holy hell out of him. These players both arrived in the 2010 draft. One is known for being soft spoken, but punched through someone’s door who was talking shit to his GF. The other played at a pro bowl level this year, but was ineligible serving a PED suspension.

To you. I’ve known all along he was right with the rest of the class. I watch UCF every week either at the game or on TV. You guys started the same crap with Bortles last year. If it were up to this board Bortles would have been a second rounder, but the pros made him the third pick.
BTW, he didn’t just Flash – He WAS Flash.
I actually think Bortles is hurting Perriman’s draft stock. I think the consensus is that Bortles was over drafted and not pro ready. He was clearly out performed by both Bridgewater and Carr. I think the jury is still out on whether or not Bortles makes it or not. I am not saying this too bash your guy, and actually I kind of like Bortles but based on last year he was clearly no. 3 of the rookie QBs. Sorry to post and run but I am out.

Maybe, but that is so far from a lock pick, especially if Kevin White or Amari Cooper are there too. Even if they aren’t there, I think he’s a borderline 1st RD guy, probably a 2nd RD pick.

Alls I know about Perriman is those questioning his hands are full of shit. Kid makes tough catches on bad throws constantly. Kid still needs to refine his game just like any prospect, but I wouldn’t complain one iota if he was the pick at 14.

What a week. I was in shorts on Wednesday, nearly 80°, yesterday it was flurry-ing and this morning I woke up to 25°.
Dbolt, what do you say to those experts that say Perriman was the #3 WR on his own team?
I won’t speak for Dbolt but I’ll answer as if you asked me.
First I’d laugh at the notion that those are experts. Second they shouldn’t continue to infer that they are experts.
The other two receivers would have to be Rannell Hall and JJ Wharton two guys who had real nice careers here at UCF. UCF liked to get the ball to Hall as a slot receiver and on out routes when he was outside, he was a nice part of the offense.
JJ Wharton never established himself as a starter but he did play a lot of valuable minutes and was a great clutch player. He returned punts and did a lot of the unheralded work from the receiver position.
Neither of these guys can compare size wise or speed wise to Perriman. Perriman was the big dog, the guy UCF would look to get the offense going with.
Hall and Wharton will likely go undrafted. Wharton has been very limited in the pre-draft run up as he nurses an injury. And compared to the rest of the WR class in the draft Hall is just another guy nothing special stands out, such as size or speed or other intangibles although he could become a decent pro. Wharton is Hartline but a little bigger and without the buck teeth.
If I were you I’d find other experts.
I thought of you too when asking Dbolt, he just posted later on the subject. I really don’t know much about Perriman other than his recent pro day 40 time, so I appreciate your feedback. Hearing he was maybe the 3rd best WR on his team was concerning, thanks for putting that to rest, and yes I do value your opinion on this subject, as I do with Dbolt’s (he seems to be the Randy of draft prospects).
I had other concerns about Perriman, I’m going to watch some video to see what those concerns were.
I guess it’s typical pre-draft talk but Hickey was open about wanting to add more picks in an article on the SS.
By adding more picks I would think he would have to trade back in the first, no? I’d be open to moving back 5 to 10 picks in the first, to get a second or a third, but it would matter who was on the board. I’d also like the trade down to take Kendricks later in the 1st.
I would think trading back in the 1st would be the way to do that. Not sure what his plans are, just reporting that he said that.
I wouldn’t mind seeing us land Kendricks somehow.

I would not be surprised to see Jax at 3 wanting to pair him back with Bortles. But I don’t think that is the most realistic spot but I see a first rounder, earlier than later.
I see him as a late 1st RD, early 2nd RD, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he went earlier due to his pro day.
He got left behind since he didn’t go to the combine. Every team had a rep at the Pro Day with Belichick being the only HC to go.

When I watch Perriman on tape I really don’t see his 4.2 speed, before knowing how fast he ran I was thinking 4.45, but because of his size he doesn’t seem like he’s going that fast. Me likes. I’d trade back in the first to take either Kendricks or Perriman as my #1 goal for this draft.

Misi couldn’t garner 1st or a 3rd in a pick up game of flag football ;P I do like Misi as a complimentary part of our D though, just not as a star, and I want an MLB that can put up 160 tackles per yr (that’s what I’d expect out of a very good MLB playing behind Suh).
I hear ya. 160 is an awful lot, but I’d love a tackling machine as well, but I’d love a playmaking tackling machine, a guy who forces fumbles and can make things happen out there. A guy the opposing offense has to worry about. Our current LB corps lacks that.

I tend to agree Steve, but Hickey was quoted as saying that he would love to move down a little to pick up extra picks, but it’s easier said thatn done.

I’ve watched a couple. They’ve been exciting. They’re hitting like crazy, but they better save some of that for the regular season. I like what I’ve seen so far though.
I’ve looked at the boxscores, but they are going to need to hit a hell of a lot better this year than last if they are going to compete for a WC spot. The pitching looks promising, but the Wheeler injury hurts. I can’t beleive we’ve had 4 guys go down in the past two seasons and need TJ surgery.
Wright, Granderson and Duda need to have big years.
It sucks, but we have plenty of pitching. We still have Monteiro, Familia, Syndergaard and Matz in addition to the regular guys in the rotation. That’s one thing we have plenty of.
Yeah, Duda had a good year last year. They moved the fences in again this year so hopefully that will help.

Sorry for the late response Steve….in regards to the experts saying he was the number 3……Id say they are full of #2. Perriman was the clutch guy who they’d go to when they needed to make a play. QB play for UCF wasn’t great this year and it affected Perriman’s catch rate. A lot of these “experts” make plenty of lazy generalizations. Daniel Jeremiah is one of the worst. Go back and watch some of Perriman’s tape. You see a corner who runs a 4.4 get completely blown away by Perriman’s speed after the catch. Perriman is a physical anomaly.
I’m also hearing his hands aren’t that great, but they say you can teach him how to catch, and his route running isn’t very good.
Funny thing is, Daniel Jeremiah was a scout. Guess that’s why he is on TV now.
