A Sonny Football Fantasy
A Complete Homer Draft
by John D (son of a son of a shula)
In an NFL first, the Miami Dolphins have drafted their entire 2015 class from the same school. Although the Fins brass says that it “just worked out that way” they used all six of their picks on UCF Knights. The Offense got a huge boost with a big receiver and also nice developmental receiver. The Defense was bolstered with a hard hitting Safety, a ball hawking corner and an inside linebacker who hits like a truck. Let’s examine the haul and see if holes were filled.
Breshad Perriman wowed scouts with his amazing Pro day. Enough so that the Dolphins were compelled to pick him with the 14th pick in the draft leaving DeVante Parker on the board. GM Dennis Hickey sighting physical play and pure speed as the reason for the pick. “We felt Breshad could come in and add a dynamic dimension to our Offense, a mix of physicality and a burst of pure speed”, said Hickey as he addressed the media after day one of the 2015 NFL Draft. Perriman checked in at 218 lbs, at 6’3”, was a big play receiver at UCF and is the son of former UM receiver and NFL player with the Lions Brett Perriman.
With the 47th pick in the draft the Dolphins selected a Safety, although a bit of a surprise at 47 Clayton Geathers led all DB’s at the combine in both the bench press and the vertical jump. A four year starter for the Knights Geathers was a leader on the defense that finished as the 10th rank team in the nation in 2013. Geathers 4’55 speed and hard hitting will pair well with Reshad Jones to round out the Safety position. Geathers will vie for playing time against Michael Thomas and last year’s 4th round pick Walt Aikens. The book on Geathers is summed up with this, “ Cherishes his role as a hitter”.
Without a 3rd round pick, which was used to aquire Kenny Stills, the Dolphins chose to sit still and wait until the 114th pick in the 4th round to select the next player for the secondary and third pick of the draft for the team. The Dolphins felt Jacoby Glenn wouldn’t last until the 5th round and was a player they had high marks on. Glenn entered the draft after his sophomore season and has a very high ceiling. As a redshirt sophomore in 2014, Glenn started all 13 games, recording 48 tackles and seven interceptions. He was named the American Athletic Conference‘s co-Defensive Player of the Year and was also a second team All-American. Salty cornerback who plays with passion and intensity, Glenn may struggle with the speediest of receivers but is best suited to play in a zone type of system.
Heading to round 5 of the draft the Dolphins are armed with back to back picks at 149 and 150. Having already picked 3 UCF players it would seem highly unlikely that another Knight would come off the board here let alone two more consecutively. But alas that is exactly what happened. The Dolphins found a hard hitting inside Linebacker at 149 in Terrance Plummer and followed that pick with another addition to the WR room with the selection of Rannell Hall. Plummer was the enforcer of the UCF defense, he would throttle receivers coming into his area of the field, very mobile and shows good diagnostic skills. He’ll contribute as a Special teamer while he works himself into the defensive rotation. Rannell Hall is a crafty receiver who isn’t afraid to do the dirty work, he fights for yardage over the middle and is an excellent route runner. He’ll compete with Matt Hazel for a possible roster spot but may spent his first year on the practice squad.
With the Dolphins sixth round and final pick of the draft there is absolutely no way another Knight comes off the board, who’s left there anyway is the real question. A big ‘ol offensive lineman is left that’s who. 6’3 320lb Torrian Wilson to be exact, a solid Guard who played on UCF’s zone blocking line for the last four years. Wilson played Tackle for his first three years but was moved to G for his Senior year where he is best suited. Wilson will compete with a range of other young players to try and earn a spot on the Dolphins offensive line, his experience in the blocking scheme may help him.
This draft addresses many of the needs the Fins had entering the draft now it is on George O’leary’s guys to show they have what it takes to succeed in the NFL. As Jeff Ireland once said, “if our evaluations were right then we hit a home run (something to that effect), well Ireland was completely wrong by and large when he said that the evals were horrible as Martin freaked out and Eggfooyoung washed out. Hopefully Hickey got it right with this class. So there you have it for the first time ever an NFL team has used its entire draft to select players from the same school and that honor shall belong to Central Florida’s own UCF Knights.

Mock Poll Draft UPDATE
(a trumpet plays int he background)
Tam – J. Winston; Ten – L. Williams; Jax – D. Fowler, Jr.; Oak – K. White; Wash – V. Beasley; NYJ – M. Mariota; Chi – D. Shelton; Atl – S. Ray; NYG – B. Scherf; STL – L. Collins; MIN – A. Cooper
With the 11th pick, the Vikings took Amari Cooper
The Browns are on the Clock
The Browns were 23rd in the NFL in Yards given up and 23rd in the NFL in yards gained
So they sort of need a little help everywhere
Here is there depth chart

Nice post Son. Thank you once again for your contribution. At least you don’t have a straight away or starting quarterback for a running back
Nice job Son!
Tim Knight says:
April 2, 2015 at 10:35 pm
Perrimen, Dorsett, Agholor etc.
*
This is the second group I was referring to Tim. Perrimen and Dorsett absolutely destroyed the 40 in their pro days, and IMO they pushed themselves up at least another 5-10 spots because of it. They likely fo bottom 1st to early 2nd now.
Nice work son
Freeman is an interesting pick up
Really liked him early on w/ Tampa
He kind of fizzled out, but he becomes the most experienced QB
On the roster. Definitely a decent backup
Matt Morre who just signed a fairly friendly deal
Must really be wondering what’s up ?
Those first 2 picks would put him in Jeffrow status!
The rest would be OK I reckon?
Nice write Son Keep up the good work!
eennie, meanie, mighty, moe who r we gonna pick?
Nice write up Sonny! Well done!
Thanks guys. Yes Wy the early picks were barely there to make this possible, thank god the 3rd round pick is gone, lol.
Happy 70th Birthday to the man – Eric Clapton
Sonny
How come we didn’t draft any Hollywood Knights? 😉
Too old, bad in coverage and from too small of a conference
Sonny
Dudley Laywicker is a helluva DT. Sally (Fran Drescher) is a fast WR too. Newbomb Turk would be a fine QB.
“TURK!, Did you cum!” lol
Fran certainly isn’t a TE anymore
LOL! No, I wouldn’t think so. She was kinda sexy in her day, but that voice . . . .
She was very sexy, she played up the annoying voice a little but it was still a drag for sure.

That is too bad
that dog looks awesome
poor Bella
😦
Bears select Danny shelton
New Poll up
Falcons on the clock
LOL @ Son
I love the fantasy draft
but i you really wanted to get a rise out of people, you should have traded Tanny for a 1st and taken another UCF prospect!
There’s none left, I would have had to trade for George O’leary himself.
That would be cool
Tanny for O’Leary
That would have went over well
alsmost like Tanny for Brandon Marshall…lol
where is everyone ?

everyone was eaten by gators
This draft is going pretty well. No real surprises.
Son, interesting article. Your next article should be about the lost land of the wee people.
Land of the Lost? Sleestaks? lol
I missed the Bears vote (I think?). OK, so now on to the Falcons.
Shelton makes sense for them. Fox has to rebuild that defense and a big anchor is a good way to start.
If Shelton is on the baord for the Bears – they are taking him
Yes
The Falcons are ont he board
Son, what a fantasy. WOW, you still smoking a cigarette? 😉
You must be a salesman, that or one helluva homer! lol
Actually I like about 3-4 of those guys, depending on who else is on the board when we select. I especially like Perriman if he’s there in the 2nd for us, or later 1st with a nice trade down. He has ‘special’ potential. Give me Perriman or DGB to be our beasty WR.
A salesman and a homer, its a bad mix.
lol!
This looks like a war between Shane Ray and Brandon Sherff
Falcons need a pass rusher….weren’t they among the fewest sacks by a D last year?
Their entire defense was bad.
I think pass rusher too
Although I can see the OT argument
but I do think if they went for an OT Collins, not Scherff might be the pick bc akthough Scerf is probably a better OL, Collins might be a better LT
The Falcons made a huge trade to move up and get Julio Jones and ever since they did they have sucked. They need help in so many areas. I went with Scherff to add to the oline and see if that team can get back to a balanced O and run the ball. That D has holes too so it’s hard to project where they go.
This could be a spot where someone (ahem Hickey) moves up to get Cooper with White already off the board.
They thought the Jones trade would put them over the top and they got close but then fell apart.
Falcon’s offense is fine but their D is so bad.
You remember the GB game this year? Rodgers could have taken a 10 second power nap on the ground, gotten up to make his reads, then look at McCarthy with a “who do i throw to?” gesture then run 40 yards downfield because the DL couldn’t move dick.
Falcons will likely move Greg Robinson to LT. Scherff can play any position on the line.
They have to protect Matt Ryan, they’re all in with him.
They have to stop other teams even more. HC Dan Quinn is a defensive guy and I think he starts with rebuilding the defense. They have a lot of aging players on defense as well.
their the worst defense int he NFL
Its basically an emergency to get better on D

Falcons depth chart
Son,
One thing about Perriman is that NFL GM/scouts love bloodlines (as if it’s some validation that the talent will work at the next level more so than from someone who doesn’t have a past connection to the NFL). I can see Perriman going in RD 1.
As for Dorsett? His height/weight combination will work against his speed values in keeping him out of RD 1. I don’t think any GM sees Dorsett as an X receiver which is most people’s idea of a #1 WR. Eartly RD 3 is where I expect him to go. The highest I can see him going is late RD 2.
For perspective, DeSean Jackson went #18 in RD 2 (49th overall) back in his draft.

The Redskins have traded a 2016 sixth-round pick to the Buccaneers for S Dashon Goldson anda a 2016 seventh-round pick.
FYI
Last year the Falcons were the worst defense int he NFL (in yardage) and 27th in points
Anyone here in Florida ever attend this?
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/entertainment/music/wanees-back-in-north-florida-and-widespread-panic-/nkk6T/
Widespread Panic is a cool band.
LMAO! I guess the Falcons would have to get Greg Robinson from STL first, before they move him to LT. 😀
It’s hard to follow all those NFC teams . . . .
They drafted Jake Matthews so you were close. LOL
LOL – Yeah, I knew they drafted a T, I just thought of the wrong one
Tim,
Agree, I wouldn’t doubt if Randy Gregory is wearing a Falcons uni (Seattle’s organization never cared much for guys with questonable character so as long as it didn’t affect the locker room).
I chose Shane Ray for them.
Evbdy gonna like dis playa! Perriman ballin!
Lasy year the Falcons added Jake Matthews (LT) as their 1st round pick
I knew thr Falcons drafted aT, I thought it was Robinson, but it was Jake Mathhews.
Al, yessss, I’ve been to the Wanna fest before…it’s a cool hippie fest. Greg Allman is gonna be there this year too, as well as a fav of mine, Gov’t Mule.
Also Cheap Trick will be there, Earth Wind & Fire, Zappa Plays Zappa led by son Dweezil.
Fun to camp out, cook out, party, go kayaking, party, listen to great live music, party.
Sounds really cool, I’ve never been maybe I need to go check it out.
Robert Randolph and his 13 string steel guitar, he has a cool sound.
Bun. E. Carlos
Not in the band anymore, ugly split where he had even sued them.
Really? That sucks
GD, that sounds like an awesome time. Good bands you listed.
Thanks…is good stuff.
GDP,
For some reason, Perriman reminds me of Patterson (Cordarrelle) with the way his core strength and also catching style. Perriman of course is far more polished as a WR.
I saw Cheap Trick in a small venue, I can’t remember where though (it was good stuff!)
It was like a 3-5K capacity hall. It was great, what little I remember of it. lol
I never saw them live but one summer we played the shit out of Cheap Trick at Budokan.
Me too! That was a cool album. I’d bet most of us here have that album, except of course for the youngins.
Nice article, Son.
Seems to be the “in” thing to say.
And I thought you were trendsetter . . . .
Son during Wanee ….

…or last night
lol, out for now…

Wow, where did that come from….
Always liked him as a prospect but after the way his relationship with the Bucs ended I was like “really dude? “.
Fun slideshow of past Wanee Fest in Live Oak, Fla. Lots of hot chicks too. 😉
It’s like Woodstock in Florida.
^^^^^^^^If these are representations of what pass for hot chicks at the wanee fest, then I think I’ll pass.
lol!
Rollin’ numbers
rock and rollin
got my Kiss records out
Are we going with Shane Ray to the Falcons, or are we waiting for more votes?
I gave them Gregory I think.
more votes
How many votes has Piggy been rolling with?
at least over 10

Been really busy man.. And yes I do have Live at Budokan …
2015 NFL Offseason: Atlanta Falcons
http://walterfootball.com/offseason2015atl.php
Team Needs: 1. Edge Rusher: The Falcons have had glaring defensive issues for a while now, and it all stems from not having a consistent pass-rusher. They just missed out on Khalil Mack last spring, but they can get an edge rusher in the upcoming draft. Re-signed Kroy Biermann; signed Adrian Clayborn and O’Brien Schofield
2. Two Linebackers: Sean Weatherspoon, an impending free agent, has an extensive injury history. Even if he’s brought back, Atlanta will have to acquire a new inside linebacker; potentially on the second day of the draft. Paul Worrilow struggled mightily last year. Signed Brooks Reed and Justin Durant
3. Two Safeties: The glaring need the Falcons have in their secondary is at the safety position. Dwight Lowery is a free agent, so if he’s not retained, a safety is needed next to William Moore. Another is needed for depth.
4. Guard: The Falcons cut Justin Blalock because he wasn’t a good fit for their new blocking scheme. They’ll have to replace him.

What’s up Phindog?

You always rattle my radar & tin foil hat with that shit…stop it….lol
Dude !!! C’Mon Man …
Thanks Wyo – So we were all on the right track then
Except me I gave them an Olineman
I did too, Scherff. It’s in the needs, just at the end.
Doggy
That was like Meet the Beatles about 15 years later. Not really, but kinda like that
Can we have another poll to see if everyone wants me to go in and delete Tim’s favorite dancers?
He might shriek discrimination 😉
Trypod, lol, guess I’m an old dog. But nuttin hotter than a hippie chick with long braided hair wearing a skimpy bikini bottom and a wet tie dye tee, no bra, dancing around high on Shrooms & Hunch Punch.

Hey baby, wanna come back to my wigwam?
Arm pit and leg hair, smelling of the last man that rolled off them.. Yeah, I can see how some might see that as hot… Lol
I was just commenting on the static image of the video.. You wanted us to watch it, too?
Its just close
So I don;t want to call it until about 1pm
+ I want the Dolphins to be ont he clock Monday morning after the Holiday
So we have 5 picks between this afternoon and Sunday
No rush
Should I call the Falcons pick or not?
Great article Son. Glad I finally got to hear about these guys…lol.
I went with Gregory because of the need and just cant see him dropping really far. Marijuana use was very stupid but pass rushers are premium. Just ask Jerry Jones.
Puff puff pass rushers….and yes, Jerry Jones knows all about rushing his passes according to some young ladies he’s grouped.
Lol, indeed.
^groped^ lol
New Poll up
but not on the draft
On Tim’s favorite dancers
Gotta be Spunky, right Tim?
Fred’s not getting any love. Also, making Tim pick between his boys? That’s just wrong.
LMAO @ the names.
So Doggy
You happy with all new acquisitions?
Absolutely !!!
I posted that gif because it’s Phindog’s favorite. LOL
That’s just not right man.. Funny but not right..
Here you go Mike E.
He was a scumbag.
Phoebe Cates coming out of the pool was worth what ever it cost to make that movie- that scene alone probably paid for the entire production.
You Sir…. Are 100% correct..
Learning about Cuba, and having some food.
Great job Son!!
Thanks Cali-girl
Trypod, I hear ya…lol
Yeah, the ladies appear after you click the play button 😉 followed by The Weight playing in the background….Take a Load off Fanny….
On another note the University of Miami was robbed in the NIT championship game last night. A very late foul was called by a ref way out of position with 3.4 seconds left — which reminded me how we were robbed in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State with a bogus very late P.I. flag. Anyway, still proud of my Canes!!! 🙂
And Ohio state targeting portis’ knee at the end because he was starting to run downhill on them and they had no answer.
YES!!!!!!!!!! =(
Reminds of that Utah foul call against Duke. Someone had a lot of money on the Canes losing.
Exactly…
Phindog, good post on the Cheap Trick tickets scene, but then BUMMER, the knocked up chick comes in a ruins everything….lol
That’s usually what happens.. You’re just poking around and they take you seriously. Ruins the moment every time.. LOL..
Phin Dog in da house !! Welcome to the Dark Side dude.. vibes to the wife on niece..
Thanks Brother… Funeral is next Weds.. Sad Stuff .. She was a good girl.
Sorry to hear at least it was a peaceful exit.. I’ll Raise drink #1 in Mexico for her ..
Now there is a tie between Scherf and Shane Ray
some one who hasn;t voted be the tie breaker
my bad sorry..
Were is the OTHER choice in the Tim pole?
Instead on an OG this time he better have a DE with either of those 3!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.cinemas-online.co.uk/images/phoebe_cates_fast_times_at_ridgemont_high_hdtv_21.jpg
Thank you, Piggy.
There is no Play button.. That’s just Cruel..
its frozen in time
like I was when I was a kid and saw that scene
Back in the day when small tits were still acceptable in society lol.
Phindog, not sure what’s going on but sorry to hear about a loss in your family.
Thanks Man..
Sorry as well Phindog.
Thanks New Age
Some one break the Scherff/Ray tie
I kind of dont mind the Freeman signing.. he was decent for a couple years in TB, and is (i believe) younger than Moore.. Good job by the FO so far, with the exception of adding anything relevent to the OL..
Toba,
I agree. He was a very solid pickup with no risk. One of those moves I always wished we would do in other regimes. This kid guy could end up being anything between great trade bait to just a little lost money. Shocked other teams didn’t go this route.
Exactly No risk, possible high reward.. Hickey knows him as stated above.. He did look horrid with the Vikes, and i could not understand how he could have fallen off…
LOL Dog! Classic scene in one of my favorite teen movies. Had to watch it on my phone, blocked at work . . .
LMAO, Piggy, I figured you for the Judge Reinhold character….was just gonna post that.
Sorry about your niece Dog. My condolences.
Thank You
How’s it going Manitoba? I’m cool with the Freeman signing. That kid has talent, although I hope we don’t need to see it, if you get what I mean . . .
Doing well Mike E… And i 100% agree that we don’t need to Break Glass on him.. Paysinger is another decent, low profile depth guy as well that can’t hurt..
Sorry, ^Hope we dont need to ^
Lexi Thompson can handle my Driver anytime she wants! 😉

Or My Pudder !!!
Dang my putter just stood up
LOL
Oopsie….he should fall some now.

From @RapSheet and me: Per the Leon County jail, FSU CB PJ Williams — a prospective 1st-rounder — was arrested for DUI at 3:08 AM today.
Ooops, that’s a major F-up.
Bad mistake.
That’s a very costly mistake. Ouch!
The Giants are on the clock
Shane Ray was the selection for the Falcons, narroly beating Brandon scherff
The ginats might ban scherf though
Manitoba
Not sure about Paysinger. I liked Trusnik on ST’s. Hopefully Paysinger will pick up where he left off.
He’s considered a good STs player.

i remember his name for some reason from last year, and not in a bad way.. hoping he fills a role at a weak position for us.. and again we did not break the bank on him.. FO doing a good job filling needs without breaking the bank on anyone but Suh.. even the CB we signed from steelers, what i read on him is very encouraging considering i had never heard of him before we signed him.. and still cant pull his name outta my ass..
Think about a brand of potatoes.
i will lean to McCain then… too many of those type names floating around… i get So Confused !!!!
Wow , and people complain about our FO…
The Bucs invested 2 first-round picks and about $45 million since ’12 to stock secondary with Barron, Revis and Goldson. All 3 are now gone.
AlbertBreer
Albert Breer
@AlbertBreer
Now please dont point out where our GM came from…
Hmmm, I wonder if this could become a recurring problem…remember the talented Bo Jackson’s hip.
ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports Sammy Watkins underwent offseason hip surgery.
Watkins injured his hip in Week 13 and was limited in practice the following week before missing just eight snaps the rest of the season. More than likely, it was a minor scope for Watkins, but any lower-body issues for a receiver is cause for some concern. Watkins should be fine for a mostly-normal offseason program, though the Bills may hold their No. 1 receiver back a bit until training camp.
Only because he’s a bill do I want it to be recurring. (That’s horrible to say)
true on both counts LOL
The Giants will pounce on Brandon Scherff. Their OL needs upgrades and they know if they protect Eli their offense is going to be explosive.
That’s what I think. I do think there’s a good possibility they go La’el Collins though.
I can see a team taking Collins over Scherff if they want an OT
But in gerneral I think Scherff is the better OL
From what i gleamed from their website OL/DL and Safety huge needs..
Very early on
Scherff is running away witht he vote
Toba, the Giants addressed DL in FA quite a bit.
okay,… i only took a cursory glance before clicking on Scherff.. 🙂
Toba, take solace in the fact that Hickey wasn’t the GM in TB so he didn’t make final decisions. 🙂
Good Call… Hope he NAILS our draft this year..

So it looks liek evryone thinks the Ginats will go OL
OL has been discussed by fans and sports hosts since the season ended.
Pat Kirwan mocked La’el Collins to the Giants last time I heard one, which was either last week, or the week before.
It’s possible.
LMAO!!!!

Is that the esteemed governor of Texas?
Lmao
well i gotta grab something ta eat.. see you buggers later.. Big family dinner today ..

LMAO!!!!
LMAO Toba!
Later Manitoba!

Whatever you do, stay away from corndogs!
And the governor of Texas!
Canibal!!!
Tim…..you okay bud? 🙄
I’m fine. I was looking for an image and came across that. That’s funny shit.
LMAO @ Tim’s pic and Manitoba
Listen to DGB in interviews @ combine. He sounds like a changing man for the better. Maybe he’s growing up.
Check out the short video’s of those interviews @ this link.
Video 1, 4, 5 are DGB talking about himself…..it’s interesting.

I guess Landry is done with the NFL and has moved on to arm wrestling
Wow, he sure doesn’t look like a safety.
That looks ridiculous. Could that be photoshopped?
Yeah, that dude isn’t on PEDs at all. LMAO.
Tims the guy I’d trust on that Mike, but it looks real to me. Usually there’s a black outline around the face, or whatever part is photoshopped in.
Those arms are like 22″. No way you can play football with arms like that. He probably can’t put his arms over his head without concussing his head with his arms.
GDP
You are approaching DGBsniffer territory bro. Just sayin . . . lol
Or corn dog status. LOL
Stay away from Rick Perry!
lol!
Okay
Looks like the Ginats select Scherff
Who are these Ginats? lol
Piggy – Do you know how to update the poll results?
not yet
Manitoba I guess your gone, but let me know on your trip. The brewery should be open. We drink hipster beer. Yuppies are so last century. 🙂

You bet brothah. You and I should try to meet Manitoba for the Fins/SD game next season. Who knows..maybe we can get Gigi to road trip down here, maybe convince Rhino to come back for a visit…who else?
That big Ape
I never miss that game.. I will be there !!! West-Fest would be cool ..
And thanks to both of you
