DeVante Parker looked good on his first day of rookie camp.  He will be wearing #11.  which is good because #1 would be awkward.  See all the rookie’s numbers (for now) here

I’m sure you cried yourself to sleep last night.  But in case you missed it La’el Collins will not be a Miami Dolphin.  He will be a jerk instead.

Nope, that is not your Dion Jordan jersey on fire.  Rumor has it that the Dolphins will offer an alternative orange jersey in 2015.

TIM KNIGHT; Watched that video you posted where Parker kinda looks like SUPERMAN!!! –WOW!!– Also watched the portion where the Fins announced special plans for their 50th season celebration. Executive VP Nat Moore revealed that, in the coming weeks and months, the Dolphins will have informational videos emphasizing the first 20-30 years of this franchise’s glorious history.
    ———————
FINALLY, current ownership is focussing on the decades that made this franchise GREAT, instead of having a “U. of Florida” day on the U. of Miami’s home field!! – – Maybe somebody is FINALLY getting through to this New York real estate magnate about what’s REALLY important to fans of this franchise!! – – ANYWAY, I rip Ross mercilessly for his goofs so it’s only fair I give him credit for DOING THE RIGHT THING – – HONORING OUR GLORIOUS PAST!!!!!!!! – – Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new, AND MORE SUCCESSFUL, era in the history of the Dolphins. –If you understand about our great past, you’ll understand WHY going 15 consecutive seasons without a playoff win is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! –AND THIS will be the 15th such season – – OR MAYBE NOT!!

  3. jahndoh says:

More and more I’m starting to think that the penalty for Brady is going to be 8 games, which, with the help of the PA will be challenged and reduced to 6 games…meaning, his first game back will our first game against them this year.

    • Tim Knight says:

I personally would rather beat Brady. I don’t look at the suspension with our schedule. The league has to make cheating unacceptable. Doing it to Brady sets the standard.

      • jahndoh says:

I get that. But I don’t want to face him in his first game back. Look, this is a game about edges. The Pats historically have cheated for edges, or used perceived sleights to motivate themselves. Whatever this means for Tom’s legacy, he’s still a deadly good QB, and I would personally rather not be facing him when he’s got such great fodder for motivation as showing the world who he is in his first game back.

I would rather win ugly (with Brady out, or at least not coming back for the first time in the season) than lose because one of the game’s greats sees a game vs. us as a superbowl like motivating game.

      • jahndoh says:

I guess a corrolary is this: Given your choice, would you rather try to make the playoffs in the AFC East or the AFC South? Same deal with preferring to face someone other than Brady for any given regular season game. I’d rather face Blake Bortles than Peyton Manning too.

  4. jahndoh says:

    Tim,

That catch was illustrative of amazing hands. I declared pre-draft that White was going to be the best of the bunch, but after seeing the way this kid uses his hands…I think he’s the whole package. I can’t go back in time and change my prediction, but I can make a new one, Parker is going to have the best rookie campaign of that group.

  5. jahndoh says:

Wow piggy, That article makes things look very ominous in NE. I’m surprised a local reporter would take that angle. I’m sure the Pat fans hate him like we hate Omar, but I think the dude makes a lot of sense. I’m tired of the “Patriots can do no wrong” attitude that Pats fans espouse. Bullshit. They’re cheaters and liars. Cheaters and liars are lucky if they ever do anything right!

  6. Mike E. says:

Lat night we went to my friend Rob’s semi-surprise birthday party. It was so nice, he knew he was having a party, just not the magnitude. Lot of people showed, testament to what a great guy he is. He’s feeling pretty good, and although he was given 3-6 months to live, he’s just about at the 6 month mark now, and the treatments are working well, so God bless him, I hope he gets a few more years. It was just great to be there, and meet some of his old old friends from the Flatbush area in Brooklyn, and see him really happy.

  7. Mike E. says:

Parker did look impressive. I’m really looking forward to seeing those guys in action. You know I didn’t want to discard Wallace, but I think Parker, Stills, Landry and Jennings and Cameron too, are going to make an exciting bunch of receivers. Also can’t wait to see what Ajayi brings to our ground game. That’s one VERY talented 5th RD pick!!!!

    • jahndoh says:

I consider our WR corps to be very upgraded year over year, and that’s in spite of me being a big Hartline fan. Stills is more talented (overall, including route running and the whole WR package), younger and cheaper than Wallace. Parker is more talented and younger and cheaper than Hartline. Both guys are more talented younger and cheaper than Gibson. Juice is still here, and Jennings is light years better than Matthews.

Tannehill has to be frothing at this WR corps!

  8. jahndoh says:

Great to hear about your friend Mike. best part is to hear that treatments are going really well and he’s enjoying himself!

    • Mike E. says:

Yeah, it really is. I don’t think it’s possible to “cure” him, but if he can get 10X more time than they originally gave him, or more, that would be good.

  9. jahndoh says:

Happy Mother’s day to all of your mothers, mothers in law, and all your children’s mothers (hopefully none of you have too many baby mamas 🙂 )

Also happy Mothers day to Herd and any other mother that stumbles across this blog.

    • jahndoh says:

Even more amazing (as a guy who actually used to be able to do standing backflips) is the fact that whoever is throwing the ball is throwing it way too low and making it much harder to do. That ball is 8-10″ higher and he makes the flip much more easily. That’s freakin’ impressive right there!

  10. Brian in NY says:

    Jahn,
Thanks for trying to temper my enthusiasm for picking up Collins. It didn’t work- I’m still pissed we didn’t get him…

  11. wyoming85 says:

    77 Dionte Savage
    80 Jordan Phillips

    • jahndoh says:

I couldn’t see the OL numbers for shit. Phillips got beat a fair amount on that drill, but then again that drill favors the offense. 2 on 1.

      • Tim Knight says:

He held his ground, there’s nobody else there to make the tackle. You don’t want to see a guy get knocked backwards in those situations. But it also says something about Savage who’s a UDFA guard competing with us too. That’s football, competition. Good stuff!

      • jahndoh says:

Agreed, except for, I could never spot Savage on that video. What number DL was he matched up against?

  12. Tim Knight says:

Mike E, glad to see your friend hanging in there and able to spend time with family and friends. I wish him the best.

  13. Tim Knight says:

I love the potential of our weapons on offense. We’re adding more, size, speed and athleticism. A lot of them are young too. This could be a fun group to watch. Let’s go OL! 🙂

  14. Tim Knight says:

Jahn, never mind, it’s so many different combos I didn’t see it clearly with Phillips/Savage either. Either way not a big deal.

  15. The Flying Pig says:

    Jahn

I tend to think when the league rules on this one, it’s not going to get reduced based in an appeal

  16. D says:

Happy mothers day to everyone. I realize most of you can’t even be mothers but your a bunch if mother f…. Well you get the point, enjoy the day 🙂

  17. D says:

All you guts who doubted me about Parker still feel the same?

  18. wyoming85 says:

    Here you go Jahn

  19. D says:

Damn 2 days of rookie minicamps and already two draft picks done for the season

  20. finfanrob says:

anyone know where we are suppose to meet for the riots tonight for the two slain police officers or are their lives not as important as a drug dealing thug. when is sharpton suppose to come into town to help lead the services.

    • jahndoh says:

The fact that people riot when they shouldn’t doesn’t mean this society doesn’t have a shit ton of abuse of power that should be addressed. You’re beating a dead horse at this point. For days I’ve been reading you complain and basically intimate that when police kill a suspect it’s because he deserved it. Well, deserve’s got nothing to do with it. Until convicted, suspects don’t “deserve” to lose their lives.

Certainly there are times when justified force is used and it results in a death, but when you live in a culture and neighborhood where death is a way of life, I bet shit like that would wear you down too.

  21. steveccnv says:

LeBron just said, and I’m putting words in his mouth, fuck you ref. With about 14 seconds left Clev. up 2 pts shot clock 3 seconds ahead of the game clock, they call him for an offensive foul that was as much of a homer call as I’ve ever seen in my life. Chi scores with 8 seconds left to tie it, Lebron drives and gets fouled by Noah, no call. 1.5 seconds left Lebron gets the inbound pass and nails a 3 at the buzzer for the win, then says fuck you ref!!

  22. steveccnv says:

NBA action was fantastic, in the ’80s, it’s a mockery now.

  23. jahndoh says:

Ok Wyo, I watched that entire second video twice. There IS no 77 wearing red! Are you talking about 71?

I didn’t watch the other two. I may have reached my limit of watching college Oklahoma drills. LOL…

IF it’s 71 you’re talking about btw..he did look pretty good.

  24. Tim Knight says:

D, Parker was the first WR I liked and my one knock on him was he used the one foot in to his advantage a lot. But I came to the conclusion that’s the game he’s playing so maybe I made too much of it and he’ll adjust to the NFL game. I admittedly had Cooper and White ahead of him but I hope he’s the gem WR of the draft. The more I see of him he reminds me of a young Michael Irvin.

Great length catching the ball at its highest or furthest point. Smooth playing the position. Not a blow the top off kind of guy but be careful. 🙂

    • jahndoh says:

I felt the same way, but came to the same conclusion. Additionally, it just so happened that there were 3 catches or so on his most often played highlight loop where he did the one foot tap, so it naturally makes ya wonder if he’ll be able to do the two footed tap in the pros. Most talented college WRs do adjust to that though, and he’s got pretty good body control, so I’m thinking he’ll be ok.

    • steveccnv says:

Parker is nothing like Irvin, as he was a physical WR kind of like Andre Johnson. Parker is AJ Green II.

  25. new age says:

I also have White and Cooper ahead of Parker but it’s not by a wide margin. I’m glad I can still cheer for White even though I dislike Chi-town. Parker is a very good tool for Tanny which makes me happy.

Jahn, I also think Brady’s first game back will be against us. We’ve been splitting it lately but I would prefer his backup. Either way, like Tim always says, we have to beat them to get this division so…

  26. finfanrob says:

    jahn

if you have been reading what i have said then you totally missed the point. but hey no biggie, i wont post anything you dont like from now on.

    • jahndoh says:

I’ve mostly been ignoring it but I responded to the last post, and I read the one I responded to.

“i wont post anything you dont like from now on.”

      That’d be boring….and likely impossible. LOL…

  27. finfanrob says:

and by all means, let me stop beating a dead horse. maybe we can talk about the draft or draft picks or something new and exciting like that

  28. stangerx says:

Far as I’m concerned this is what we have in Parker……wingspan and a good bit of speed. I know this pic would be better for a defensive player and the animal having a bad day ain’t one of our rivals……but it’s still pretty cool.

  29. wyoming85 says:

    Jahn
It aught to 71 is Tyrus Thompson

    Round 6
    Pick 9

  30. wyoming85 says:

I would say the vulture is trying to chase the coyote off of a carcass
    JMHO

    • Mike E. says:

What does a guy from Brooklyn know about Wolves and Coyotes? Not much, apparently. Funny thing is, I looked a little closer at the pic, and you can see a smaller vulture on the ground, near the coyote (KY-oat). This pic may actually be legit, just a big-ass mother vulture protecting her young from a coyote

      • steveccnv says:

Mike, are you having a blonde moment? The second bird on the ground is what the coyote is trying to eat and what the confrontation is about.

      • Mike E. says:

Exactly. First time I looked at the photo, I missed the baby vulture. That’s why I said the mother vulture was protecting her young.

  31. steveccnv says:

In two NFL seasons, Bailey has 47 career receptions.
Stedman should be practicing his craft instead of working on BS catches like this.

  32. steveccnv says:

The exchange above about the cops being shot vs young black males…

Certainly there are times when justified force is used and it results in a death, but when you live in a culture and neighborhood where death is a way of life, I bet shit like that would wear you down too.

    ——————————————–

It’s similar for the cops Jahn, they see these criminals walk or do little time, time after time, so they take the law into their own hands…Judge/jury/executioner. Maybe the law needs to be changed and make it a little less lenient for repeat offenders.

    • jahndoh says:

The US imprisons it’s own people more than any other country on earth. I don’t think leniency is the real problem here.

      US=4.4% of the worlds population
US Prisoners=22% of the worlds prisoner population.

Are Americans inherently more evil than everyone else? I tend to doubt it. When law enforcement isn’t self propagating (the more arrests made the more jobs justified. The more fines handed down the more jobs justified) we’ll be able to assess where the real problem lies, but for now we’re a bunch of white middle aged guys sitting and passing judgement on “thug mentality” while people in our family are never in danger unless they’ve volunteered to get paid for it (4 cops in my family for the record).

  33. D says:

You guys don’t know your birds. That’s a condor. Surprised jahn hasn’t pointed that out yet

    • jahndoh says:

Nice catch! There’s a condor sanctuary in the Santa Barbara Back country. I’ve never been back there, but I’d love to see one for real.

TBH, I thought it was a photoshopped enlargement of a vulture.
