“Rex Ryan announces that he loves Buffalo because it smells like feet.” LOL — even funnier cause it is true.

  4. stangerx says:

“16-year-old Biaggio Ali-Walsh, has developed into a three-star running back at national-powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Nevada. Biaggio ran for nearly 600 yards and 10 touchdowns on just 49 carries as a sophomore to help lead Bishop Gorman to their sixth-consecutive state championship.”

    “He can run a 4.38-second 40-yard dash.”

Genes might have something to do with it…….that’s Muhammad Ali’s grandson.

      That’s Cool…

    • Jahndoh30 says:

12 yards per carry and a TD every 5 touches….meh….he’s alright I guess.

    • steveccnv says:

I mentioned the same thing after the state championship game several months ago, it was all over the local news, they showed Ali at the game.

As for Bishop Gorman, this is a recruiting catholic school like the famed ones in Ohio Massillon and Moeller. Their coach is now the head coach at UNLV, so maybe the dynasty doesn’t continue. DeMarco Murray went to Bishop Gorman too.

The reason Ali’s grandson didn’t get more carries was, because he has to wait his turn, they have several other backs that are just as good, but not as fast.

  5. Ken says:

Congrats to Earl Mitchell. Glad to see he got his degree.

    • Jahndoh30 says:

Impressive. Not many guys are league veterans and still go back and do the work it takes to finish their degrees. Most guys that don’t get drafted already having it, never will get it.

  6. Jahndoh30 says:

Gigi, Oakland’s a lot harder to get too (for me, guessing similar to LA for you), and there’s no guarantee they’re going back, but have you considered going to Oakland for a game? PRICEY!!!!

Took the liberty of filling this in based on comments from some. You ain’t signing a contract at this point, but would really help to get a measure on the possible numbers for the group section. So maybes are just fine.

What a SAD decline of a talented young man! SMH

Suspended DE Dion Jordan appears to be distancing himself from the Dolphins.
“It’s a [bad] situation,” teammate DE Derrick Shelby said. “I’ve texted him a few times but got no response.” While teammates have reached out to Jordan, he’s closed them off. The same goes for the team regarding Jordan, however, as Miami’s higher-ups have declined to say whether Jordan will be welcomed back once his suspension is up. He needs to concentrate on avoiding trouble.

This poem was written by an anonymous MARINE CORPS Officer.

    THE BATTLING BOYS OF BENGHAZI

We’re the battling boys of Benghazi

No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.

Just a fiery death in a blazing hell

Defending our country we loved so well.

It wasn’t our job, but we answered the call,

fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.

We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate

Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.

Just the two of us, and foes by the score,

But we stood fast to bar the door.

Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,

So we fought, and we fought, and we fought ’til we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,

But Barack Obama didn’t give a damn.

Just two dead seals who carried the load?

No, thanks to us………we were just “Bumps In The Road”.

  10. steveccnv says:

If the Colts/Seahawks were smart they’d use the fact that the Fins are projecting what RT will become, or taking a gamble that he’ll continue to improve, so they won’t have to pay him $20 mil+ per season. In other words do you pay him less now with somewhat of a risk that he does improve or wait 2 yrs when he may break the bank. Luck and Wilson are both at or near their peak.

    • Jahndoh30 says:

Other than wins (and a QB is 1 of 22 starters…leaving out special teams) RT is already every bit the QB that Russel Wilson is and his stats last year hold up well compared to Lucks.

I think the other teams will definitely do what you say here, but I’m a little tired of hearing the mainstream sports media talk about how somehow Tannehill doesn’t deserve this contract based on his performance. He’s rarely the reason we lose, when we do.

      • steveccnv says:

He doesn’t yet have the IT factor when the game is on the line, that’s what they’re talking about. He’s also 2 yrs behind both of them in experience, since he only played QB for 16 games in college.

  11. getterdone says:

By selecting Phillips in the second round, the Dolphins passed up on possibly selecting a starting left guard. Miami drafted Jamil Douglas in the fourth round.

Tannenbaum said he has three young players vying for two guard spots. With Billy Turner expected to start at right guard, that would mean Douglas and Dallas Thomas will compete for the left guard spot.

And that means veterans Jeff Linkenbach, J.D. Walton and Jacques McClendon will likely be reserves trying to earn a spot in training camp.

While Thomas has struggled since Miami drafted him in the third round in 2013, Tannebaum pointed him out as a player who could have a great story to tell this season.

“When we’re talking about the fall, there’s going to be great stories to tell,” Tannenbaum said. “It could be Billy Turner. It could be Dallas Thomas. It could be Jamar Taylor. And that’s going to be the fun part of watching the team.”

    • steveccnv says:

You don’t need to take an OG in the 2nd for a ZBS, and if you do the guy better be all world, and I didn’t see that guy in the 1st either.

  12. The Flying Pig says:

    Why???

  13. getterdone says:

Wyoming, sad & touching poem. Too bad the lying in the Admin aren’t charged & brought to justice…like Hillary (what does it matter), others as well, all the way up to the prez if stories of his negligence are true as well.

  14. getterdone says:

Wyoming, there is also a great deal of suspicion on how/why Seal team 6 was downed in a Chinook (which they never ever flew in before due to strategic safety concerns) because they might expose the real truth on the supposed bid-laden shooting/capture.

    • steveccnv says:

For media/politically correct BS the US has to show that they’re doing things the right way, but in reality they do what they have to, to get the job done sometimes, then don’t let it be known to all. That’s good enough for me, the problem is they don’t stop there, they use the same tactics with other things, just ask Hillary. She always has that look on her face like she just stepped in a pile of shit, any wonder why?

  15. Ken says:

    Jahn:
I think at this point Wilson has done more to earn a big contract than Tannehill. I am not bashing Tannehill I think he earned the contract he just signed. But to Wilson’s credit he has a SB ring and been to another. His QBR has been higher than Tannehill’s and he has has some big performances in big games. Wilson deserves a big contract. I used to think he was just a care taker QB but I have seen enough of him to see that he is not. He is a legit franchise QB. He may not be the pure passer like a Luck or even Tannehill but his running ability, ability to extend plays and to play in the clutch are big time franchise QB traits.

    • getterdone says:

Gotta love that clutch throw at the goal line to hand the Pats a SB Ring! 😉

      • Ken says:

He made some great throws to put them in that position. He has had some big moments in big games and yes he made a bad throw on a terrible play call by Pete Carroll.

      • steveccnv says:

Are you talking about the PI that wasn’t called, I can’t believe that hasn’t come up, it should be more of an issue than deflategate.

That’s the first 3 seasons for each. Interesting.

      • steveccnv says:

Brees wasn’t the great QB we know of today, he broke out in yr 4 once Rivers gave him some competition. I hate the comparisons of great players vs non great players, the yrs before they hit it big.

      • steveccnv says:

RT is ready for that break out season, and I’d be shocked if it doesn’t happen this yr, but until it actually happens he’s still a non-elite QB that hasn’t been to the playoffs.

      • steveccnv says:

You are what your record says you are only applies to the entire team, otherwise Jay Fielder is a better NFL QB than RT, as is Dilfer.

  18. Jahndoh30 says:

I get the differences between Wilson, Tannehill and Luck, but what I’m talking about are the sames. If you can’t see the writing on the wall for Tannehill at this point you’re blinded by stuff that wasn’t in his control, or really in Wilsons control either: Post season appearances and success.

I’m saying it right now. I would legitimately draft Tannehill 2nd in that QB class if we had it to do over again. Nobody in their right mind would take RG3 before him at this point, and I don’t care what you say about Wilson’s bona fides, he’s not as good a passer as Tannehill, and you damn well should ask yourself if he has anywhere near that success without the best defense in the league and the best power run game in the league running support crew for him.

Luck is the only guy I’d draft before Tannehill from that draft at this point, and he’s had light years better protection than Tannehill has, and that’s saying something about how bad it’s been for Tannehill, because Luck’s been put on the turf a fair amount.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I take Tannehill over Wilson 10 out of 10 times if I get the chance

The Seahawks had one of the best defenses ever

      I haven’t given up on RG3
But he is definitely way behind the others

I don’t know why people care so much about Wins and losses when they evaluate a qb
A lot of things lead to wins and losses and playoff success

    • getterdone says:

Good points. I was always in the camp that I’d draft Tanny over RG3 whom I felt was a run first & not a pocket QB…much like Wilson, but Russell’s flaws are amply covered for in the power running game and stellar defense getting the ball back giving great field positions, & keeping the other team’s score down.

    • Ken says:

I think I would take Wilson over Tannehill but it’s close imo. I get where you are coming from but it’s hard to separate all that post season stuff from Wilson. Remember the year before they drafted him they were a playoff team yes but with a 7-9 record. Their winning % has gone way up with Wilson at the helm and pretty much the same cast of characters around him.

      • Ken says:

And I am in no way knocking Tannehill by saying this. I think he is good and going to get better but I think Wilson is really good.

      • The Flying Pig says:

They were in the playoffs before they drafted Wilson

      • Jahndoh30 says:

I think you’re being fair fwiw. I just look at their numbers last year (because I think Tannehill has to be judged by that, and not what happened the two years prior, he clearly came in raw and is only improving at this point) and see very similar ratings, more yards and more TDs and better PCT for Tannehill.

I can’t get past the best defense and best power run game in the NFL either. I think in sometimes there are probably backup QBs in the league who would’ve had similar success to Wilson with that team in the past few years.

  19. getterdone says:

Steve, yes Brees broke out in year 4 & in a move to the Saints. But note the sacks, Tanny was sacked twice as much, yet still played well, improved each season.
If we can get the sacks down to a reasonable league average or below, then I think we’ll see Tanny breakout big!

The FO is putting upgraded weapons all around him now too. Plus the defense is being upgraded (Suh). A top defense makes life easier for a QB to do his thing on offense.

    • getterdone says:

This of course should equal more wins & post season play, SANS poor coaching.

      • Jahndoh30 says:

please at least give lipservice to a shit ton of injuries and a change in offensive systems. Be a little fair about it.

  20. D says:

I wonder what Omar sees when he looks in the mirror. I wouldn’t think twice about punching him in the mouth if he acted to me like he does to others on twitter, and shit i would say to him online i would definitely say to his face. I in general dont get drawn into talking shit online but he surely isnt an intimidating presence to where i think people would be scared to say things to his face.

  21. The Flying Pig says:

  22. Jahndoh30 says:

Steve, “you are what your record says you are” was coined by Parcells and it was meant to assess a TEAM, not a player. That’s the whole problem with some of the analysis of Tannehill’s contract in the media, it’s based on wins and losses and ignores that guys like Wilson had the best defense, and best power running game in the league to back him up. It also ignores that Tannehill compiled better passing numbers (at least comparable even if you want to argue the point) while being sacked more often.

It’s not as simple as “you are what your record says you are” IMHO because we’re not talking about whether the Seahawks or the Dolphins is a better football team. We’re talking about individual players.

    • getterdone says:

Exactly…the quote ‘ you are who your record says you are’ is based on the whole team.
      45 vs 45 each Sunday. 🙂

  23. getterdone says:

Ken, fair points….but would Wilson have the same record here in Miami, under Ireland & Philbin?

    • getterdone says:

…would Tanny already been in playoffs, perhaps SB if he was drafted by Seattle?

      • Jahndoh30 says:

No the first, yes to the second. That says more about Pete Carrol the coach, Pete Carrol the scout, and his incredible DC than it does about Philbin though. I won’t and shouldn’t exonerate Ireland, but I’m a little tired that you keep lumping them together.

Sorry, I usually don’t shoot back when you take shots at Philbin because you’re entitled to your opinion, but every so often I feel like I need to defend the coach of the Miami Dolphins…I’m just a homer like that.

    • Ken says:

Probably not but I also think he would have been further along than Tannehill regardless because he was a 4 year starter in college and came out of the gates a little faster than Tannehill.

      • getterdone says:

Ok, but Tanny is now progressing at a faster pace in the pro game…just needs a better team around him than what he’s had and the wins will come.

So technically, #Dolphins backup Matt Moore has the 2nd highest winning percentage (52%) of every QB outside of Tom Brady in the AFC East.

  27. getterdone says:

Jahn, agreed on the Seattle DC. How in the world did we let Dan Quinn get away? Ugh!

As for Philbin, I still am rooting for him, heck he’s our team’s HC. I just wish we’d see his coaching progress/improve each year like Tanny’s has. 😉
Maybe we will now that he has mostly all the types of players he desires at most all the positions.

    Go Phins!

    • Jahndoh30 says:

And you’ve been mostly fair as of late I have to admit. Doesn’t change the fact I’m a little defensive of him as I’ve been a fan since he was first identified as an HC candidate. 🙂

      • getterdone says:

I hope he becomes the next Tom Landry. I like and respect him as a person. He has football knowledge, but needs to show more in football wisdom….IMHO

        Go Philbin!
        Go Phins!

      • Jahndoh30 says:

Lets stop there. We’re both happy and the next step is you decrying a GB timeout that I think was a good call. LOL…

  28. getterdone says:

Contacted by Profootballtalk.com, the NFL office stated Friday that there is no date currently set for the appeal of Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.
Although owner Bob Kraft backed down from the league, Brady isn’t, and is pursuing a reduction of his ban. For selfish reasons (read: fantasy magazine deadline), our hope is there will be a resolution in Brady’s case by early June.

    • Jahndoh30 says:

Based on analysis I heard yesterday, which I agree with, the league has zero incentive to hurry this up. They’ve got to get it right and that means no matter how long it takes. I think the chances this is sewn up in the next month or so is virtually zero.

I kind of hope it goes til their bye week and then the ban kicks in afterwards. Would hurt their season a lot more that way, and we have a week 9 appointment.

I dont think the real Omar has disappeared, think about what he is saying. Tanny in that “cake walk division” is only one game better than in the AFC East and while Luck can get 11 wins in that league, Tanny could only get 9. Its actually a very underhanded compliment, even if you consider it a compliment at all. Omar alive and well and still unimpressed by Tanny.

IMO Luck > Tanny > Wilson. Tanny is really pretty comparable to Luck, Luck is just more refined/polished. He has been practicing to be what he is now all his life. Tanny is getting there and has an upside of being more athletic.

“Why is there no mention made of the fact that Sean Sullivan, the Colts’ equipment man who suggested via an e-mail that the league measure the balls during the game, actually took it upon himself to measure the ball that ended up on the Colts sideline? ON Tanny Vs.Russell Wilson. Wilson has a HUGE advantage in his vastly superior offensive line AND in his defense, which has given him more opportunities to shine than has Miami’s “El Foldo” O-Line and D-Line the last 3 seasons.. NOT SAYIIN’ Tanny’d do better than Wilson had Wilson played for the Fins and Tanny for Seattle, but my not-so-fat gut tells me this issue won’t be settled until Tanny plays on a team as good as the team Wilson plays on. So far, that has not happened!

The Giants are looking to add offensive line depth after losing LT Will Beatty. Long’s career has been derailed by consecutive torn ACLs, but could provide a veteran stopgap if healthy. Seven months removed from surgery, Long should be limited to non-guaranteed deals.

    • steveccnv says:

I’m glad we didn’t give him that fat, 2nd contract, many on here wanted. I’m also glad we don’t have to depend on him as our LT, Gmen must be hurting.

      • D says:

Armando seems to have the best football IQ for the beat reporter/bloggers, he’s just an ass sometimes and his attitude gets in the way of good reporting. I lso think its saying a lot though to say he has the best football IQ. Fot such a strong sports city, the sports reporters really suck there.

Heck, I wish ESPN would pay me to do that. I’d do a much better job. I would get the real deal on players & coaches.

LOL, sure thing. I didn’t want to go all FFR or Tim on ya. 😉

FFR’s mind can come up with the ideas, Tim can find a picture that can allow you to appreciate what that would look like.

Watch those guys. They will all kinda say the same shit about certain players or what they think the offense will do with players, etc, but they devote no time into explaining why. Example they all have decided Still is here to be a deep receiver, ie a simple replacement for Wallace, they all keep saying same thing, but truthfully if they watched how Stills played in NO, they would realize he is much more than that and if they really understood our offense they would understand why that works better than Wallace did. They dont though and they just keep going back to the dumb dumb idea that MUST HAVE ALPHA RECEIVER MUST HAVE SPEED GUY MUST HAVE X Y Z LABELS… fucking break free of that 20 year old ideas of this game and start looking at what they are showing you. 40 TIME ONLY IMPORTANT STAT….. im sure somewhere in the classes they take to be a sprots journalist they must make them write these things on the boards 100 times a day until they can repeat it to them in their sleep because its the same tired ass shit every year and every article.

    • D says:

Oh and i completely agree you could do a better job, fuck probably everyone here could, they are really bad and i have no clue how they continue to have jobs when im sure ESPN has editors who have to read this shit and think to themselves god we are wasting money on these people.

    • steveccnv says:

I don’t know why we care what the national media has to say during the offseason. These guys don’t look into what’s going on with each individual team, they just pick up bits and pieces from the local beat writers. When they talk to a crackpot beatwriter and tells you something whacked, you all know who I’m talking about, then they spread the BS nationally like it’s word… SMH

  59. steveccnv says:

Back in the Wanny days we were told that our 3rd LB would only be on the field for less than 50% of the D plays, so it was an easy position to fill, since he came out in the Nickel and Dime packages. The OGs stay on the field, but it’s also an easy position to fill.

Our 3 weakest depthwise positions are the easiest to fill and don’t need stars playing there. Does it sound like our new FO is starting to get it? Maybe Mike will start to get it soon 😛

    • D says:

OG’s are still a pretty easy position to fill but i think that’s going to be changing soon. Advent of these simplified techniques for DT and the sheer talent of the players being drafted at that position is evolving the NFL to put priority on OG’s. You are going to see in next few years that salary getting a facelift and elite OG’s are going to be roughly the same top end salary as elite OT’s, its already changed in terms of LT’s being so much higher paid than RT’s and its soon to be that way for OG. Thats going to change the draft environment and drafting an OG is going to climb up in priority since it will be a position that you are going to want to have young cheap talent at. Its not there yet, but i feel its coming pretty soon.

      • steveccnv says:

Except that doesn’t apply to a ZBS line, which is why we didn’t take an OG in the 2nd.

      • D says:

I agree ZBS is a little easier as its technique based and quickness so its not as dependant on being able to go toe to to with that beast of a DT, but players like Suh and Philips make it hard on those guys too so its still going to shift some, but maybe not so much as it will for the straight man power scheme lines.

I understand lol, i just remember the argument ya had waiting for ya when you brought it up previously lol.

      • jetsssuck says:

some people on this blog turned a blind eye even when I provided proof. Shula cheated with the best of them he just never got caught. Some even believed he was a church going man who was incapable of pushing drugs without the players best interests concerning their health.

  61. getterdone says:

D & steve, good points above about the guys @ espn as well as our local writers.

I’ve gone back and tried to watch more and more videos of Jamil Douglas and i grow more and more fond of him. Even watching him from the OT position you can see some of the traits that will make him do well, hell im beginning to feel he wouldn’t bee too Shabby filling in for Albert if thats how things go. He really looks the part of the kind of OL we need. I also think a lot of people have given up on Thomas, but im def not one of them. Im becoming concerned that we have wasted 3 years with him flip flopping him all over the place but i know the guy has the skills to play LG. I just hope if we do start with him there we leave him there, lets see what we can get out of him at the most natural position for him and if it doesn’t pan out, cut ties and move on with someone else.

    • steveccnv says:

He sucks as a tackle, we all know that, don’t know why the coaches haven’t figured it out yet, but as a guard he’s at least serviceable, and may be pretty good over time. Not sure I really like Douglas playing LT, but it may be a better idea to leave JJ at RT and put someone else at LT. I think Turner might be the best option at LT.

      • D says:

Turner probably could too, Jamil isnt shabby he pulls well, he gets to second level well, he shows good first step in pass defense. I think he could be solid and hold it down, i wouldnt plan on leaving him there but i think i like the idea of leaving James at RT and having Douglas fill in at LT in the short term and then drafting a replacement LT next year.
