“The Waiting is the hardest part”, that’s where we are right now. Training camp will begin in 13 days. Until then we ravenous fans have to continue to try and blend in with society. We have to act like we don’t want the summer weather to end, as if we just can’t get enough of the beach, that vacations are awesome. Wait – we do love those things but its football we yearn for. We want football AND the beach – but the kids still go back to school!
Here is the training camp schedule. Is anyone going to make it to any practices?

Training Camp will lead directly into the Pre-season and we will begin to see the 2015 Dolphins start to take shape. All of the position battles we anticipate watching will soon be unfolding. Who will the Guards be? Who will the other Corner be? Who will be the nickel corner, 
the WLB, the 2nd back, the 3rd Tight End? All of these questions will soon be answered. Is there going to be a camp surprise, a guy who comes out of nowhere and makes the team? We will start to get glimpses of the D-Line rotation, which LB packages we’ll see, which Receiver packages in different situations. We’ll start to see if Tannehill develops chemistry with anyone. Is Landry still his go to guy? Maybe Parker becomes a favorite because he catches everything, maybe Jennings for his pure routes, can Stills get deep and is there a rookie or relative unknown poised to steal a spot in the group? Is Jay Ajayi a true steal from the draft? How nicely will Jordan Phillips fit in with a deep experienced group?
The Guard battle is above all others as the dawn of a new training camp nears. Thomas and Turner appear to be the front runners. So will they hold on? Does a rookie like Douglas
take a job? How about a vet with some experience behind but nothing we see now to suspect as much. Can Linkenbach, McClendon or Walton come away with the job? For the players who were here last year, they enter year two in the Lazor system and that should give them a leg up and perhaps it does as we see Turner and Thomas in front as it stands. Practicing against the likes of Suh and the rest of that Dline should yield the best players that hopefully we haven’t seen in some time here. Whoever it is we don’t ask much – just total domination.
Hang in there Dolphans, just a couple of more grueling weeks of beaches, bar-b-ques, vacations and summer fun to endure before good ‘ol football starts up again.

Nice work Son! Let’s hope that Suh is eerthing we expect him to be and more. We need him to bring an attitude to this defense that hasn’t been seen in years. I am confident most of the position will work themselves out, but I am very concerned about the guard positons. IMO, virtually nothing from mini camps can be learned; the pads need to come on before we really know what shape we’re in. My fear is Mathis will be scooped up before we make our decision on him.

I have people i would like to make the team, and those i would like to see start but i really dont care if i get my feelings hurt as long as we field the best players. I dont care just because Taylor was a second round pick or Davis was a 3rd that either of them pan out any more than i do any/all of them panning out. At the end of the day if Lippett starts and is the best, or if its Bowman, or if its someone like Seamster, it really doesnt matter as long as he is the best option.
We acquired every one of these guys, so it doesnt matter if they came as a draft pick, high or low rounds, UDFA pickup or even someones cut we picked up as a camp body, if they earned it and do a good job for us its a success. Likewise, if they dont then its a failure and it doesn’t matter whether or not they WERE a 2nd rounder, etc..

I figure the sign when we are really ready to go for the ring will be when we bring in high-quality big name vets to fill holes for a year or two (and I’m not talking about the stop-gap types we’ve had to patch up the O-line in recent years).
Stanger, our offense is much younger. Let’s just roll with this projected lineup for now. We know other guys will play too.

Rock, you know what’s funny about a QBR against a corner is that how do they figure in the QB not throwing his way when his guy is covered? Usually when a QB throws to a target he thinks he’s open so you would expect a high percentage of completed passes when a guy is targeted.
The thing I like about Taylor is he’s aggressive and tackles well. He only allowed a 10.0 YPCA which for a corner is very good.
I’m not sure how they figure it. I get your point though.

It is a great story….and clearly he has a kind heart. While this seemed the exception though, try telling most people who say “can you help me get something to eat” sure lets go and get you something. Nine out of ten times the answer will be no thanks. I’m sure the exact reasons why differ.
Ive done it before, hell ive given them money before, my philosophy is,if i feel its the right thing to do, then it doesn’t matter what they do with it. You dont help out when your heart tells you to, then your not doing the right thing. There of course are reason for safety sake i would never violate, i also wouldn’t expect my wife to feel as secure doing something liek that because she is more vulnerable than i am, having the kids with her normally, but he was definitely right that way too often, we approach things like that with cynicism and judgement and its at the cost of people in need.
I help out sometimes even if I am not sure if it is really the right thing to do. I liked the campaign one homeless organization had back in DC. They had contribution jars on most business counters that essentially said, “please give to us rather than the guys on the street……we’ll then take care of them in the right way.”

As Rockphin mentioned above, RIP Bill Arnsparger. The architect of 2 of the 3 great defenses the Dolphins have ever had (No Name and Killer B’s; the only other one being Jimmy’s defense with Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor).
Wait, that just got me thinking. So the Dolphins have really only ever had three great defenses?
I hope that our resident historian has a few thoughts he has time to put together on the passing of what history days is one of the great coaches in NFL lore.

Happy Anniversary! All the best to you and your wife, nice to see when people stay together like you have.
Vacation was fantastic, it really was a great week, but my good friend Rob passed away on Saturday before we went. The wake and funeral were Tuesday and Wednesday, so some of our group went to the wake, and others went to the funeral, and just a few went to both. His family came up to the mountains on Wednesday, and they managed to have a good time knowing full well that Rob truly wanted them to go all along. Rob was honored often during the week with stories and memories of him, and although I really do miss him, as did all the rest of the group, we all feel like he’ll always be with us with the countless great memories he left us with. Easily the funniest guy I’ve ever met, and a great person as well.
Sorry that Rob passed, bro. But also happy you all did it the right way.
Looking forward to next week when my friends and I have our get together and celebrate all of our 50th birthdays, I will turn 50 next weekend. We will celebrate our friend Jim’s life who would have been 50 on July 14th. It’s going to be emotional – fun, sad, but good for all of us.
Absolutely good for all of you…….have your Jim stories at the ready.

Stanger, my friend Jim was a highly intelligent dude (lawyer, lol), great sense of humor and a great laugh. Infectious! We have a ton of great stories. Some of my friends knew him from when they were toddlers and some of us at the start of HS. We became a larger clan over the years. He’s the first of our of clan to pass on. 😦
Guess I just said that cause I remembered when my Mom passed. At her celebration everyone wanted to express their love of her to her son. I had like three stories set I told over and over. They were like script and I was glad I had them. I chose them beforehand as ones I thought best told what she was about.
We have a lot of stories and when we get together they pour out. From concerts and tripping to drunk and just downright silliness. LOL
LOL — you might want to edge to the high-brow ones…..unless the people you are talking to were tripping too.
Just found out my good friend’s Mom passed away today. 😦
On Super Bowl Sunday’s she would make a turkey for sandwiches and amazing crumb cake. She was a wonderful woman. So sad right now. Alzheimer’s took her.

Sorry about your friends mom. The reality of mortality seems to be at an all time high for me right now. One of the kids from our group got engaged up in the mountains on Friday, and despite the fact that they have been going out for 2+ years, they were in no rush to get engaged, but the recent news that the future groom’s mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, they sped up the process so she could be there for it. The nice thing is that our group is really like one big family, and we all pull together tight for each other. I love those people, and I’m so glad I could be a part of that group.

Tim so sorry to hear of the passing of your friend’s mother to Alzheimer’s. One of the cruelest diseases ever, IMO. Without knowing the circumstances, the truth is the disease takes people long before they actually leave this world. I think we all kinda knew they were not “big city” folks from the beginning. It was quite obvious they were only in Miami because that’s where his job was. The second the season was over he was on his way to his lake house in Georgia. What’s news to me is the level to which he made the players despise him, if you know what I mean. Saban had to be the most powerful man in the setting; when players can tell him to go screw himself and he can’t stop them, he loses his sense of authority- that’s why Alabama is a perfect place for him. He is the BMOC there.
After seeing this — Tim will want to enter a surfing competition in South Africa. 🙂

WAS truly saddened by the passing of the greatest defensive coordinator of all time, Bill Arnsparger!! The Don of Miami said it best: “If there’s a Hall of Fame for assistant coaches, Arnsparger should be the first man in it!” “Arns” was a truly innovative coach. Kind of the Sid Gillman of defense. YOU folks who don’t know much about Gillman should Google his name and read the Wichipedia history of the greatest offensive innovator this side of Paul Brown. –Arnsparger ran defensive allignments like No ONE before him. Players who played for him said they had NEVER seen anything like it. And talk about PREPARATION, Arnsparger, whose nickname was “one more reel” (of game film) was the best prepared coach in NFL history. NO ONE STUDIED MORE GAME FILM!! His work ethic rivaled, and may have EXCEEDED, the work ethic of Don Shula!! And his dedication “caught on” with his players. He did NOT win because he had extraordinary talent. He won because his unit was THE BEST PREPARED UNIT IN PRO FOOTBALL, PERIOD!!! The Shula/Arsparger teams were the BEST prepared, BEST motivated and BEST CONDITONED teams of 1972 and 1973. Saban is a control freak. College players for the most part have to do as instructed especially in a highly competitive program or the coach can pretty much destroy their chances getting their pay day in the NFL. In the NFL some of the players are thought to be more important than the coach and they are a lot less controllable. Saban left because he couldn’t handle that and his success as a coach depended highly on it. Spurrier is much the same way and failed just about as predictably.
He also couldn’t recruit the same way in the NFL but yes he couldn’t treat 30 year old players like kids either. Harbaugh was kind of the same way even though he had a very successful run in SF. One of his players Alex Boone said he’s a good coach but it got to the point where you wanted to punch him in the face.
I would think Harbaugh is a little more tolerable

Training Camp starts in 11 days. Just 14 practices until we go into a game week type practice schedule after the 1st PS game. This will be upon us before we know it.

I don’t know- Montana wins because of rings I guess, I always thought Marino was better than elway, but I expect I have a bias, and elway was a more complete qb than Marino, because he could run effectively. Manning.. He piled up a lot of stats, but.. Your are saying you would choose him before all the other qbs for your team? He fits one type of offense in my estimation, the other three or 4 on the list ahead of him could work in other styles, perhaps?
