I Want Pictures

I Want Pictures

by son of a son of a shula

With only one pre-season game left and another 11 days until gloriously the new season starts I thought I’d tell you about my Dolphin porch and what I want to do with it. We actually didn’t set out to make the porch a Dolphin porch,128 not sure why not actually, but it all came about as a result of re-purposing an old mirror that has a frame around it to make it look like a window. When we decided to use it my wife said, “hey let’s paint it teal”. So the Dolphin in me said, “well shit if we’re going to paint it teal we may as well use the official Dolphin color.” She agreed and I painted it on there and there was only one thing missing – Dolphin orange. Even though I didn’t put any orange on the mirror I did decide to paint a new wood framed door with it. And in my world painting wood is sacrilege; I could only ever paint wood with Dolphin colors otherwise no way. Anyway so here we are with a Dolphin porch and in need of more Dolphin stuff for the porch.

I had to get the porch finished and ready for a party two weekends001 ago and I came up with an idea that was inexpensive and easy. I went into my picture files and chose some pictures that I took myself at the stadium and had them made into 5 x 7 prints, put them in dollar store frames and mounted them on the wall. Not just mounted but I put them up with a nail gun, that was fun, just held a level there and bam bam bam – done.  I only did 4 and now I want to add a bunch more there. There’s plenty of space.

Here are the 4 I used:

DSCN9055 DSCN9098 DSCN9093 DSCN7995

You may recognize the last one it was my avi for a while and if anyone has the Herd T-shirt that’s the avi used for me on it.

There are several shots I want to get at the fest this year, especially with all the renovations but I have several more that I’m going to DSCN8018add that I already have . They include  Csonka and Marino’s Ring of Honor pics, more pics that reflect the old look of the stadium both inside and out. Of course I need to find each years group fest pics that I want to add. And the Cheerleaders (got plenty of pics of them).

As far as the pictures I don’t have, I have a list. I want the pic of Manny Frenandez’s name on the ring of Honor as he was finally inducted  last year. He’s always been one of my favorite all-time Dolphins. Same for Garo, I want a pic of his name (RIP). I want a picture very similar to above, looking across the stadium,  but it of course will show the new aqua seats. Perhaps pictures of some of the new fancy sections but I also want some of the corners where they removed seats so I can have a progression of old,  new in waiting and then next year with the screens in.

DSCN7855 DSCN9091

SUH, I want a real cool pic of Mr. Suh. If at all possible I want to try and get a pic of that front 4 standing together. One of those pictures that is reminiscent of the old Steel Curtain or the Purple People Eaters shots you see all the time. I’ll have to super zoom and find an opportune time to snap a shot. That would be awesome to have a picture of Vernon, Mitchell, Suh and Wake that I got myself.

Oh yeah and there’s a rule: I will only put pictures out there that I took myself (or if wifey did) only exception will be the annual Fest pic.

I’m looking forward to seeing the new renovations to Sun Life when we meet for this years fest. I’m looking forward to seeing this 2015 team go out and whoop ass too. You’ve been a Dolphin fan for a long time don’t act like you can’t feel it.

Suh is here, everything is different now!

Only a week and a half folks, we can make it!

Cheers!

Hanging pictures on the wall can be a real pain in the ass at times making sure you get the nail in the exact spot and then trying to hook that stupid little ring on it. Using the nail gun to hang pictures was quite liberating…and easy!

Oh – the door is Fir so I didn’t paint some nice Mahogany or Walnut or something like that. I’m not that insane.

Let’s be real, Omar is out hating on the FO decision to release Fields over cash and then he cites how all NFL teams except maybe 4 focus on winning (insinuating that 4 teams choose to spend more to win). How many pricey WR have NE churned off their roster during Brady’s years? LOL. How about Seattle going cheap and letting Golden Tate go to Detroit? I bet they wished Tate would have been the intended WR on the game losing play Lmfao instead of some 3rd rate WR who couldn’t drive his body through a DB.

  13. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Mike E, speaking of Jacey Amaro….

Jets placed TE Jace Amaro (shoulder surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The 23-year-old tight end has a torn labrum. He suffered the injury in the Jets’ preseason opener. It’s a bitterly disappointing end to what needed to be a big season for a player who underwhelmed as a rookie. Now Amaro will enter his third camp next summer on the hot seat after being the No. 49 overall pick of last year’s draft. Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis are the next men up on the depth chart. It’s a sorry group.

I’m still trying to get caught up and just scrolled back a few posts. I wouldn’t be surprised by a Sturgis release. The team can’t get rid of his short kickoffs, kick offs out of bounds and very mediocre FG kicking quick enough for me, but Fields is one of the best in the league. How much money does this save us?

third in the longest punt (74),
first in yards per punt (46.8), and
first (three times) in winning Miami Dolphins Man of the Year Award
….yeah that’s the giving to the community one.

  29. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Speaking Tuesday, Bills coach Rex Ryan said K Dan Carpenter “needs to kick better.”
Carpenter converted 34-of-38 field goal attempts in 2014, but is just 2-of-4 this summer. He’s also missed an extra point. Carpenter’s Week 1 roster spot is secure, but he can’t afford a slow start. The Bills are keeping Jordan Gay as a kickoff specialist.

  66. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Second-year linebacker Jordan Tripp is back at practice this week and looking to pick up where he left off early in training camp.

Tripp returned to practice Monday after missing two weeks because of an ankle injury he sustained in the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears.

“I wanted to be back sooner, but it just wasn’t the way it was going,” Tripp said. “But it’s a blessing to be back as soon as I am. I thought it was going to be a little bit worse, but it’s very nice to be back.”

Tripp, a fifth-round pick from Montana, came into training camp looking to make enough of an impact to get additional playing time on defense in 2014 after injuries slowed him during his rookie season.

In that vein, he’s very much looking forward to Thursday night when the Dolphins close out their preseason schedule against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I’m fired up to go out and play some ball,” Tripp said. “Really looking forward to going out there and making a lot of plays.”

What is Omar’s definition of save money? Does he think the team is being cheap?

To have continued success in the NFL you must cut players that can be replaced by lower paying players, when the play is similar.

Did we get worse tody? I don’t know, it’s hard to say we did, but chances are we did, but that isn’t the issue here, it’s managing the cap. The cheats don’t stay on top for that long by paying large contracts to players just to pay them, they get rid of guys a yr too early instead of a yr too late.

  71. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Rookie linebacker Zach Vigil was surrounded by reporters and a couple of television cameras in the locker room when quarterback Ryan Tannehill decided to watch the proceedings.

Tannehill then decided to play interviewer and proceeded to ask a series of questions. All of them had to do with Vigil’s long hair.

The exchange ended with Tannehill asking Vigil what kind of shampoo he uses.

    Vigil: “The hotel shampoo.”

Tannehill: “That’s where you messed up, you gotta spend a little money on shampoo.”

Vigil had the last words as Tannehill walked away with a big smile on his face: “I don’t have any money yet, Ryan. Can’t afford that stuff.”

Steve, the report on Vigil was he was much better rushing the passer, blitzing and dropping in coverage. His weakness was instincts in the run game. Now this doesn’t mean he’ll excel at any of them at the NFL level, he did go undrafted after all. But he has flashed all through camp and the PS and the coaches have complemented him multiple times.

After last PS game and i paid close attention to Darr’s punts and was pretty shocked by how good he looked, i had a feeling then there might be a chance fields would get cut, but thought they wouldn’t do that since they had gotten him to restructure. Wouldn’t say extremely shocked but definitely didn’t think it would happen this year.

  78. D's avatar D says:

Who else was cut? we had one more we had to cut

  79. D's avatar D says:

Damn Trent Richardson didnt make the 75 lol…..wow.

Raiders cut some recognizable guys like Trindon Holliday, Richardson, Ras I Dowling, Kenbrell Hopkins, Josh Harper/

Eagles cut Jared Wheeler, werent a few of you high on him last year?

Several names in the cuts list i recognize from scouting or discussions here in terms of late round possibilities for us. Shane Carden is a guy i would like to see us pick up and stash on the PS.

IN CASE no one mentioned it earlier. the Yucs at Fins game Thursday night will be shown live on WFLA, Channel 8 in Tampa. I’ll be looking CLOSELY at our back-up O-Linemen because the odds say at least 2-3 of them will see significant playing time THIS SEASON if they make the final cuts. I KNOW, I KNOW, there’s NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!! –Now pass me more Kool-Aid. please. PS: the game kicks off at 7:00 PM. How long before I’m cussing??

    D,
Yep, saw the cut list this week so far and noticed the Raiders got rid of S Jonathan Dowling over the weekend over what they are calling ‘maturity issue’. Some article I read said he had a series of small incidents with the coaches and they had enough (even though he had the talent to make the team).
He was a late rounder last year i liked out of Western KY (MF13 and I pumped him up a bit).

It’s still not official, because Week 1 is still 2 weeks away. It does seem as if that’s the intention though.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah I’d say so and that’s what’s great about competition, the best guys play. It could change if Douglas struggles but it’s his job to lose, the same with Thomas.

    • Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

Agree. It’s not official because the depth chart in preseason is still in flux until the final cuts are made and season depth charts released. It’s good to be 1st on the list now but there are no guarantees. Who knows how Turner/Douglas respond from here on out till Week 1. That is what the coaches want i’m sure (to see a reaction….for Douglas, see if you sit on your laurels; for Turner, see if it lights a fire under your ass or makes you crawl back into a hole and whine).

    Steve,
Saw your comment…As I get closer to leaving I’ll let you know my plans.

  90. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

My last 2 cents on Darr over Fields. The team eventually was looking for Fields replacement and that meant this year with Darr in camp or next year via the draft or FA market. That they were content on Darr’s performance going forward probably accelerated that decision of change to now.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m sure they felt Darr was either better or at least more consistent or it was close so go with the young guy. Fields wasn’t very good last year despite a late season push, but maybe he’s not the same guy he once was. It happens. It’s not a knock on Fields, it happens all the time to players at different stages in their careers.

HOWIE–HOWIE–HOWIE– My pick for the final preseason game for the Fins om Thursday Night:
    16-10 MIA
FRANKS PROVES TO BE A “WEINER,” GOING 3 for 3 in field goals and securing the job as Miami’s place kicker for 2015!!

  92. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

For Turner, You hope it lights a fire in him. He’s got to be disappointed, given he’s waited a year for his chance, and now might lose the job.
