Perhaps another trip across the pond will help the Miami Dolphins prevent their season from potentially spiraling out of control.
They’ll try to avoid a third straight defeat Sunday in London against a New York Jets team that’s looking to bounce back from its first defeat.
Last season, Miami (1-2) was 1-2 and coming off two straight losses when it went to London and rolled to a 38-14 victory over Oakland. Though the Dolphins would go on to lose the game that followed, at least they are familiar with their current plight.
“We’ve been here before, so we know what we gotta do, and that’s just go back to work, find a way to get this W,” safety Michael Thomas’ told the team’s official website.
Saddled with high expectations after adding $114 million defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and confident quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Lamar Miller would take their play to a higher level, the Dolphins have floundered out of the gate. They needed a fourth-quarter rally to win 17-10 at Washington in Week 1, never led during a three-point loss at Jacksonville and were blown out 41-14 by Buffalo at home last Sunday.
Fourth-year coach Joe Philbin appeared to be on thin ice heading into the season, and might fall through if things don’t improve. Publicly, Philbin hasn’t shown too much concern for these early struggles or his own job security but won’t sugarcoat the team’s current state.
”This is not a time to panic,” he said. ”We’re not getting 53 new players. We’re not getting 24 new coaches. We’re either going to find solutions to these problems or not, and we’re either going to stick together or not.”
Philbin said that lineup changes could happen this week, perhaps on defense.
The addition of Suh hasn’t kept the Dolphins from yielding 435 rushing yards – second-most in the league. They’ve recorded one sack and allowed a combined 101.8 passer rating to the trio of Kirk Cousins, Blake Bortles and Tyrod Taylor.
”I’m disappointed, but I’m mostly disappointed in myself,” embattled defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle said. ”I’ve got to do a better job getting guys in the right spots.”
Offensively, Tannehill has completed 61.4 percent of his passes with five touchdowns but threw all three of his interceptions last week. He’s also been sacked seven times.
Miller set career highs with 1,099 rushing yards and eight TDs last season, but has gained 105 without a score on 30 attempts while dealing with an ankle issue.
”Guys are frustrated,” Tannehill said. ”We know we’re a better team than we’ve showed. There’s no panic, but definitely urgency to get this thing turned around.”
Tannehill’s completed only 57.6 percent of his passes and has four TDs and six INTs while splitting his six starts against New York (2-1). Miller ran for a career-high 178 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries during a 37-24 season-ending home loss to the Jets in 2014.
However, both could have a hard time getting untracked against a New York defense that allowed 17 points prior to last week’s 24-17 loss to Philadelphia. Despite the defeat, the Jets yielded 231 yards and rank fourth in the league giving up 298.3 per game.
With four turnovers and a number of missed tackles on Darren Sproles’ 89-yard punt return for a TD, the Jets feel they hurt themselves more than the Eagles did.
“We didn’t lose this game because we thought we were better than we are,” center Nick Mangold said. ”We lost because of execution.”
With Chris Ivory sidelined by a quad injury, New York managed 47 rushing yards and Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three interceptions after throwing two in the first two contests.
”It’s just as important not to overreact for a loss as it is to a win,” first-year coach Todd Bowles said. ”We didn’t overreact to the two wins, we’re not going to overreact to the one loss.”
Ivory, who leads the team with 148 rushing yards and has scored twice, should return for this contest after being a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday. He’s averaged 3.7 yards per carry while gaining 171 in four games against the Dolphins.
While Ivory and star cornerback Darrelle Revis (hamstring) are probable to play, Eric Decker (knee) is a game-time decision after sitting out last week’s game. Decker is listed as questionable after missing practice Wednesday and being limited on Thursday and Friday.
This will be the Jets’ first game in London.
”I think guys think it’s cool to go over there,” Fitzpatrick said. “It will be a unique experience for all of us and hopefully bring the team together even more.”
It’s time to kick some ass fellas! GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I hate how the D lets the runners always get 2-3 yards after contact

3 yd pass by tanne when 19 is needed
yep i agree he sucks too, but it was 3rd and 19 cause of that stellar o line play
Nope all tannes fault
Anyone see Cam Wake near making a play?
Tannehill has obviously been ordered to “hang tough in the pocket”
Mike that’s the issue Lazor keeps going back to the shit that’s not working like it miraculously will. Same plan every week same outcome.
Suh with a hit. Woosuh
Another failed easy chance to make a play on Fitzpatrick the turnover machine
Suh with some pressure finally
Tannehill will throw a pick this drive.
3 more nails in the Coyle coffin.
Dan marino – 0
Mike i honestly have not even noticed if he is on the field
Wake
D,
kind of like blowbin. doing the same thing week in and week out like all of a sudden it will work
You don’t have to continue convincing me nan I came over to yalls side last week. His job is to fix what’s broken and he isn’t. Lazor though play calls so don’t ignore him.
At this point it looks maybe we will get a top pick lol. Conner Cook for a new coaching staff?

But it works so well against our Defense in practice….I don’t understand……
The defense has actually kept us in the game. The offense has been putrid. They better get back in now.
He was playing DE on that play
Another penalty….sigh
Another fucking penalty
Landry rung the bell of that guy trying to tackle him…annnnd of course now comes the penalty.
lol @ try,
you are right, tanny should make that block before he tries to pass
Should have recognized the defense and adapted his throw
And I wouldnt mind a new QB when the dust settles from the coaching change
They just gave hiim 100 mil….
Oh, I forgot to mention the obligatory penalty to back us up first….
I”M EMBARRASSED I ONLY PICKED the Jets to win by 11. – – WHAT was I thinking??
——————————–
Meanwhile, a friend called me and said “I can get you an extra ticket to the Texans game (Miami’s next home game) for $15.” – – I told him “that’s too much!!”
‘Lazor though play calls so don’t ignore him.’
D,
not at all the whole group needs to go. let the players coach themselves
OD,
I knew you had been of that position. Just giving you some props. Seems like it has a lot of validity as we have another 1-15 year. Ross needs to go because he just is unwilling to do the necessary things to be successful. Prove me wrong Ross.
Yay- he did something right
try,
you are right. it is all those so called football experts that say he has no time to throw the ball. what do they know, they just get paid to look good
Of course i am
Holy shit!!! A snap under center. And a pi in our favor

They just gave hiim 100 mil….
I guess we are stuck with a crappy QB then.
See he will never hit a pass like that only the P/I can get us the Comp. on those
Yay tanne choosing the right passes twice in a row
YESSSSSS—-The old “FLAG PATTERN” on consecutive plays!!
Wow a touch pass in ez corner. Well done !!!
Holy fuck a fade
Wow he didn’t overthrow it!
that sucks. that prolongs blowbins career
That’s an incredible throw
There you go! Throw it down field more.
I’ve been oinking this for a few years now!
It matters
It does DBs clutch and grab all the time on deep passes.
Nice misdirection
That will slow down the pass rush
Hooray
We wont be shutout
GO PHINS!!!
Pannehill with 3 passes to the right place
Will miracles never cease?
Now let the D feed off this. Go Phins!!!
Was that drive under center?
Nice catch and concentration by Stoneburner too
HOW MANY OF YOU think we’ll benefit from 70 yards in penalties on our next drive??
Even refs had pity on us.
See ffr? Or one is the same one you were blaming earlier. What’s changed is his target choices. The didn’t block better on those plays, tanne decided to go further down field
Or one = our line
Ross must have made the call….
“Hello Roger, I think I need to remind you. I have done everything you’ve asked. I am spending 500Mil of my money to renovate that stadium. I can’t afford another rebuild. Call your refs.
Good st coverage
here comes a nice long jets td drive
“Maybe they’re waking up”
Thry will answer right back now and quick
I smell a turnover
I smell another shitty play by Miami.
Will have to say that fade was done on a roll out like I called for fucking 100 times last year. He throws better on the move. They should keep this in mind
2nd & 10, lets run for 11 yards
try,
yeah sure right. those two long passes tanny was under pressure it was all his fantastic footwork that gave him time in the pocket to throw down field.
Nope just better target selection
Suh can’t tackle
Ivory bounced off him
He can tackle though
Just one lapse
Last game not year
‘They should keep this in mind’
first, then got to have a mind to keep it in
We need players to make plays here. I don’t think they care to.
This team looks like a pee wee squad that has never won a game. They don’t know how to win and have no leadership to help them win. Misi looks clueless.
I don’t even see the LBs
Lol, saw expression after a play.
He did break up a td in coverage earlier
Out best player right now is the ref. He has like 60 yards on 2 plays
That wasn’t really a fade. It was a misdirection where Stoneburner cut across the endzone.
try,
right, it had nothing at all to do with having time to find a target.
listen, i get it, you want to put all the blame on tanny. go right ahead, fine with me, he sucks like the whole team does. i am not defending him, i am just blaming others too
Nope, just the amount that he’s earned
Almost had ivory for laugh
Fitzpatrick is just wild sometimes
Uh oh third and long
Tim the pass was a back corner fade, the route wasn’t a fade route.
False start weeeeeeeeee
And oink
If we win this game, it will be because of Fitzpatrick
jets jumping there to ensure they pick up this 3rd and long
Longer. Right where they want us
K Landry
hey, looky looky someone who throws a worse long ball then tanny
Let’s go offense, steal this first half after a poor start.
I really hate how we are set up to blitz
You mean we blitz?
Agreed that last blitz of ours looked awkward – timing was bad
That was a horrid handoff
Wtf was that?
I cant believe this isnt out of hand
My score will come true
33-20MIA
Double coverage- let’s throw to him!
Yeah throw into double coverage. Don’t find the single coverage on the other side
Thmas walking off hoding hands ?? Who is he Jmart ??
Bad spot!
That was a 1st
Nice play by Tanny. Should have rolled out quicker, but got the job done
RED FLAG
That was a bad spot
OR GO FOR IT!
that was the right call
Fake it I say
twicethethe says:

Fake it I say
they are. look at them. they all have on football uniforms but none of them are football players
Lol
Plenty of time for us to pull a Colts here. They are a better team too.
The all-time record for yards passing is 554 yards, set by Norm Van Brocklin in the early 50’s. –On Oct. 29 (Thursday), this Dolphins’ defense plays Brady and the Pats in Foxboro. –Can you say NEW NFL RECORD??
Lol
Unbelieveable
Wake finally does something and it backfires
How many sacksdo we have?
I’m sure glad we tied up $100mil on one player
Of course
Now its out of hand
they get the ball after half and will score again
There is our great D
