The Dolphins have a QB!

by son of a son of a shula

(mid-season 2018)

It’s been a long long time since the Miami Dolphins had this kind of leader and winner at the Quarterback position. You know how long its been, since Dan Marino retired that’s how long. This new young signal caller has taken the league by storm. From the first day he walked into the huddle he had the command and respect you’d expect a grizzled veteran to have but Mac Notwen has that certain swag and fiery personality to be an instant leader. Although Mac is a vocal leader it is his play on the field that earns him the respect of his team mates. Many have come and gone since Marino retired and its been quite a challenge for the Dolphins to hit on a guy like Mac, a player who refuses to let his team lose and a player no one ever believes he is out of a game. The Dolphins still have some defensive issues that aren’t quite as apparent with this high powered offense averaging 31 points a game.

In the two games thus far that Miami has fallen behind they were able to, under the leadership of Mac Notwen, put together strong second halves to catch up and subsequently pull out wins late. How refreshing it is for Fins fans who knew they were done when Mac’s predecessor, Ryan Tannehill, was behind in a game. They wanted like hell for the team to fightback to scratch and claw and pull out narrow wins but it just never seemed to happen. Not in the Mac era, those close games seem to always swing in the Fins favor now. Mac always seems to hit on a big play in big moments. Whether he avoids a sack and runs for good yardage or fires a perfect ball over the middle to his Tight End or hits the defense between the eyes with a gorgeous deep ball, he is always making plays and scoring Touchdowns.

Said one jubilant fan leaving from the Dolphins last win, “Where have you been all my life, Mac?”. Dolphin nation is crazy with eagerness and anticipation of what Mac will do in the playoffs. The last time Miami was in a playoff game was back in 2008, ten grueling long years ago. At 7-1 this Miami team seems a lock to make the playoffs and make some serious noise while there. It is amazing what Mac has done for this team. Without many changes in the offseason the Dolphins were not expected to contend for a division title but Mac Notwen came in and has rejuvenated this team to what many are saying is the spirit of the Undefeated Season era Dolphins. With four 4th quarter comeback wins so far this team has far outdone the Tannehill team of last year who only had one 4th quarter win. The team is inspired, the fans are inspired and the wins are piling up what a great time to be a Dolphin fan.

Slap slap – Son wake up, wake up you’re talking in your sleep

What was I saying?

(laughing) You were going on and on about some QB who is going to make the Dolphins great, ha ha ha

Yeah, just a dream, Tannehill is still our QB?

**********

Back to reality. 3-5 and 0-4 in the division. Everything was supposed to be different.

In the 2015 AFC East the Quarterbacks are as follows:

Pats – Brady – 6th round

Stej – Fitzpatrick
– 7th round

Bills – Tyrod Taylor – 6th round

Dolphins – Tannehill – 1st round 8th overall

Guess who’s 0-4 against the division?

Do you realize the 2015 Dolphins:

Haven’t kicked a meaningful field goal once this entire season.

That the offense hasn’t scored a fourth quarter TD that would either get them back in a game or take a lead late.

**************

Sometimes you gotta win 41-38, we just can never nut up to have a game like that anymore.

Even if you consider that Buffalo got 2 gift TD’s, the blatant holding on Suh and the fumble where we should have had it on the 20, take those away and they still would have won 19-17. We have to score more Touchdowns. Not just piles against shit teams but TD’s every week against anyone.

(It turns out this team doesn’t have Philbin’s personality at all, they have la de da, dum de dum, Ryan Tannehill’s persona. Oy!)

FWIW, I don’t think the team as a whole is bad or even should be bad. I look around the league and analyze teams rosters as they play and I always see primarily the same types of teams across the league. Some vets, some stars, some journeymen, some guys we all know from drafts as we see what they’ll become, and a lot of unknowns and undrafted guys.  Man for man we stack up with every other team in the league. “It’s in the way that you use it”

At this point, although I really like Dan Campbell, my wish is that the Dolphins bring a Prodigal Son’s Son home. Son of a son. Mike Shula is ready to fill his father’s shoes and lead the Dolphins to glory. Mike is doing now what his father taught him a long time ago. And that is to let the players play, play to their strengths, have better athletes and use them to win in a system that fits THEM and not some scheme where square pegs are constantly forced into round holes.

The biggest problem with trying to bring Mike Shula in is that he might be busy until early February. Consequently Dan Campbell is here as is Mike Tannenbaum and perhaps the hiring of Mike Shula would see the continued employment of Dan Campbell in an Asst Head Coach capacity if he were open to it. Mike Shula is ready and he should be brought to Miami, where he belongs.

(a little loose with the prodigal son analogy, work with me here please)

Son wonders what it may have been like with Keuchly, Eifert and Cousins with 2 years behind Moore…

You’re not going to let this love go, are you? I freely admit he is better than what we have (really- 33.6 qbr? Last out of 32 qb’s? Don’t bring it up- his defenders get all panty-twisted. I mean, I haven’t seen this kind of love since a certain someone’s Henne crush). I think their accuracy in the deep ball is similar, and though he is an athletic freak, eventually he won’t be able to run and then you lose half of his game. Even that doesn’t bother me; what does bother me is the “Superman”. I actually think if he were my qb I’d want someone to punch him in his face every time he did it.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, your bigger point I can’t argue- we have nothing to lose by giving Shoes Jr. A shot, and a whole lot to gain, at least initially. Bring him in, I’ll support him.

Son I love your ideas usually but was going to laugh off the Shula one…until I checked more closely. This Shula really does seem to have more of the right stuff like his dad. I keep thinking about Dave instead of Mike. I wouldnt Mikey being our next coach.

  9. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Mac Notwen
    any relation to Cam Newton?

  10. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Son, the issue with this team is not Tannehill. He didn’t play poorly in BUF, the team let the game get away from them because of a handful of plays. We still don’t commit to the running game and the defense doesn’t consistently create pressure or turnovers. Oh yeah they also have moments where they get gashed by the run game.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I tend to think what Son is saying is not the Tanny is the issue with the team
but Tanny is not making the team any better
taking the team on his back and winning essentially

I think Tanny has been disappointing too
      He’s not bad
      but he;s not good either

      Our LBs are bad
if I’m looking at one place where we are really bad in terms of personel – its LB
If you watc the buffalo game you can see Karlos Williams and Lesean McCoy bounce outside away from Suh and the horrible angles our LBs take
if it weren;t for Rashad Jones – it would be even worse
I think we may have the worst LB unit in the league

Our defense would be so much better with just better LB play

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

Not the only issue, but an issue nonetheless. And as much as it pains me, I agree that Newton would have won more games as the qb than has Tanne.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think its a no brainer in terms of Newton winning more than Tanny
and I think the real issue is intagibles like confidence and leadership that Tanny lacks compared to Newton

I want Tanny to grow up already

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

That’s where I am- like the guy, good person, but I think his ceiling has been reached, so unless we get a top 5 oline and defense, I have no confidence he’ll take us that next step.

  11. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

But if we had Mac Notwen and Suh, we’d be in the Super bowl for sure!

  12. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Piggy

Is that what’s happening in Carolina? Is Cam taking a bad team that doesn’t run the ball and can’t play defense, and leading them to victory? BTW, he’s 38-31 lifetime, and that includes his “wonder” year of being 8-0 this year.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

On there way to the postseason again
      do you watch Cam N0ewton?
He makes plays when it happens

Everytime some one criticizes Tanny the Misdirection Patrol comes in to remind everyone that some one else is bad too

Well that doesn;t work for me as a defense to Tanny’s play.

if we are talking about Tanny it doesn;t matter how bad some one else is
Tanny doesn;t get better b/c some one else is bad

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s easy to get high on someone when things are going good.

  13. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I guess because the team isn’t very good you’re wanting a QB who can carry the team which I think is overly exaggerated anyway. A QB can’t carry a team without support so it doesn’t really make sense. If the team played better overall you wouldn’t even be focused on Tannehill. That’s what I think.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Its today’s NFL QBs are such a huge factor in the result

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So they say. But when the OL and defense is bad teams don’t win regardless.

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

Worst qbr, but not a problem… And if someone tells me that stats aren’t everything, but then turn around and remind everyone someone just had a 23 for 24 game, I’ll lose my mind!

  14. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    Worst QB rating?

  15. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Let me ask you guys this, what impact has Suh had on this team?

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

what impact has Tanne? He got here we were mediocre, been here and we’re still mediocre.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

You an see it on the field during the game
The Bills were running away from him all game
the problem is our LBs are so bad and take such bad angles it doesn’t matter

But you can see McCoy and Williams hit holes away from Suh
Its amazing how bad our LBs are

Suh is only going to have so much impact

But again this is what people do when people ciriticize Tanny
they talk about something else they think is bad or not playing up to par

That’s why I called it the misdirection patrol

To defend Tanny – talk about Tanny, not some one else

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Take Suh out and there is no difference on our defense, it’s still inconsistent to bad.

I’ve already talked about Tanny and I see the same nonsense every time we lose. But let’s ignore the defense lead buy Suh allowing 266 rushing yards. The Bills ran right through the fuckin middle many times. They ran away from Suh? They ran around him and past him.

  16. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Piggy

I’m not misdirecting. I know exactly what Tanny is. He’s not the type of QB that puts his team on his back, but really, how many are? Oh and BTW, put Cam Newton and his Panthers in our division, and see how many times they make the playoffs.

Why couldn’t Andrew Luck win this year? Did he forget how to carry the team?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yep, he hit the ceiling and forgot what a football is. LOL

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

You can’t win int his league if your QB can’t put the team on his back
if your QB can;t make plays when it counts you can’t win

Both Newton and Luck and russell williams too for that matter do what Tanny does not

I really think people are struggling coming to terms with who Tanny is right now
      He has earned criticism
I say let it be out there instead of talking about other players when people criticize Tanny

Its not okay to be an average QB in the NFL
Its not okay to need everything else to go right to win

We won;t win anything with a QB like that

The most frustrating part about Tanny – is it seems like it might happen any day for him
but it just hasn;t and there is a chance it might never happen

I think its obvious that he was less ready than anyone thought when he was drafted

  17. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

All of a sudden we look to ESPN for QBR? ESPN blows!

Oh, and BTW, look who’s 24th? Give you a hint – His initials are MN. lol

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

I like how we pick and chose what stats we want to use. In and of themselves, I don’t care, but it gives you something to reference.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

They have some rating of their own which I don’t even know what it is.

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

I was using them as a relational tool- don’t really care about all the minutiae. It clearly shows him as last in comparison to others being rated by the same standards. And if I see one that rates him somewhere above 16th in comparison I’ll be surprised.

  18. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

This is the real QBR, not ESPN’s fabricated one

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TannRy00.htm

  19. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Piggy

There are so many factors involved with the QB making plays though. You do realize our O-line really sucks at pass blocking, right? You also realize we throw way too much, right?

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

Qb makes a line as much as the other way around. Jetsssuck’s favorite qb doesn’t have a better line than us- doh! I’m not supposed to use him as a comparison- my bad.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

      Again
talking about everything that is not Tanny’s performance

You can just look at Tanny’s opportunities to make an impact and evaluate him
He has chances to make plays
      he just doesn’t

I would love to see some one argue why Tanny is good instead of why some one else is bad in defense of Tanny

  20. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Try, I gave you the ESPN version of the real QB rating. I have no idea what that other one is they implemented like 2 years ago.

  25. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Tannehill is fine. He is not the problem. A team can win with Tannehill. He is not Aaron Rodgers but he pretty much is Russell Wilson if not better. The difference between him and Wilson is talent around him and coaching. Yes I think Cam Newton is better but no sense in dwelling on that. We couldn’t have drafted him and there is no way Carolina lets him go. So either Tannehill is the guy or we are back to investing 3-4 years in developing the next guy.

    • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

I wasn’t mooning for Cam in this piece, I was referring to a fictional QB who would come along in the future.

  26. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

Here’s a serious question I asked myself the other day let’s see what y’all think.

Would you trade Tannehill straight up for Philip Rivers?

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

If I thought the team was ready to win now – yes. But I don’t think the team is ready to win now. We have serious holes on D and a lack of depth on OL so I would not invest in an older QB at this time. It’s either keep Tannehill and let him continue to grow, which he has done every year arguably up to this season, or scrap it all and re-start with a rookie QB next year.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

that won’t happen. Tanny gets at least 2 more years, We might get a backup for him but I’m willing to bet he’s the starter next year unless he’s traded.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

no. Rivers is done in a couple of years. Tanny is still young with more upside.

I would hire ken whisenhunt as OC however. He did great with Rivers while he was there.

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

I think rivers would also have a better record as the qb of this team- though Tanne is not a problem.

  28. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Nice Job Son. I agree with most everything you said. I just don’t see us hiring mike shula. The reason I don’t think we’ll do it is because it would be very difficult to fire him if things don’t work out. I mean Don will never step into the dolphins stadium again because we fired his son.

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

We fired his father- how much harder could it possibly be to fire Jr? I just don’t get this line of thought…

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Shula was upset because we didn’t interview his son the last round when we hired philbin. He’s a grumpy old man now. He’ll probably boycott the phins this time around.:-)

You can’t hire anyone with the idea that you have to fire them.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

you have to consider it. The chances of any coach we hire is gonna be the next belicheat are pretty low.

  29. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

    ken.
tanny is not the problem but he’s not the solution either. He won’t carry a team. He’ll do his part but he needs a great defense and a great rushing attack to be successful. Something we don’t
    have right now.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Russell Wilson doesn’t carry a team either. He has been to 2 SBs and won one of them.

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

He doesn’t make stupid plays and choices, either- but Tanne is not a problem.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

yea and he has a great defense and running attack behind him. That’s why he’s successful. IF they’d asked wilson to be brady he would have failed as well.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

        Try:
That’s actually not true. Wilson has made some serious bad decisions, especially in terms of holding on to the ball too long. He is heavily criticized for that.

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

His don’t seem to be the costly ones- no qb is perfect. But Tanne is not a problem.

  30. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We shouldn’t be looking for a QB to carry us but to do his part. Just admit it peeps, this team is not as talented as you thought it was an Suh’s impact has been nil. We could not have him and there would be no difference.

  31. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We should make a t-shirt that says “Tanny is not the problem” for ugly people to wear to make them feel pretty

You don’t think it looks poorly that he went 6-10 last year, and now the Falcons are 6-3?
    ———————————————-
Mike, im not pushing Mike Smith as a HC for us, but i will say Chud whom everyone seems to love here, had a 4-12 record his last year as a coach. Marrone was 6-10 9-7, 15-17 overall as a HC, but bailed out on the team which bothers me a little. Hue Jackson was the much beleaguered 8-8 in his only HC stint.

All of these candidate seem decent to me but what Tim was saying is very appropriate. Mike Smith’s body of work truly out-weighs his last year record. Shit happens but if you want to look at a guy who’s history as an NFL coach less resembles Philbin than the others, he stands out as the guy who doesnt look like him. Marrone’s all time record looks much like Philbins, Chud’s actually looks worse than Philbin’s first year. Jackson looked just as average as Philbin did….

Again i havent settled into a HC candidate i like best, but i definately am leaning towards a clean start fr a hungry guy candidate. All the above listed i think are completely viable, and have merit to why we would want to hire them, Mike Smith included.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

marrone didn’t have a QB and got his team to 9-7. I also like jackson. Getting those raiders teams to an 8-8 is a miracle.

      • D's avatar D says:

Again im not saying that either are bad options, im just pointing out you may have to look past records to see the quality of the coach. I was showing that as a reference to why Mike Smiths last year record doesnt mean he is a bad coaching candidate either.

  44. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

Mike’s probably a nice guy. What I have in common with him is that we went to the same HS here in Miami. It’s also the same Catholic HS Brian Griese went to (Bob sent his son there because of Shula’s experience with sending his son there). Anyway, all that aside, I’m principally opposed to nepotism. If Mike is the best fit out there (as Philbin appeared to be at the time), then so be it. I’d like to see who will be available this offseason (especially if the Saints are silly enough to get rid of Sean Payton).

  45. D's avatar D says:

I think we should draft either Hackenberg (if the new coach is a more pro style QB guy) or Prescott (it they like a guy who is similar to Tanny but better mobility for read-option) as a backup to Tanny. Neither would embarrass us as a backup in the worst case scenario that Tanny goes down, and both have potential to push Tanny and even replace him in a few years if this outlying year of bad play is a trend and not an abnormality. I have always been a fan of Tanny from the moment they called his name in the draft, i have had high hopes and i have defended him because he always showed improvement. This year he has really stepped back from that and we need to be real and understand there is a chance this is it. Just because we paid like a franchise guy, doesn’t automatically mean he turned into one. A lot of QB’s right now fit the mold of got paid to be and dont look like they will make it. Tanny could also be one of those.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Don’t like either of those options. No one is going to draft Hackenberg to be a backup and I also think he is horribly inconsistent and his accuracy disappears at times. I also don’t see Prescott as a pro QB.

      • D's avatar D says:

Hackenberg is the QB in this coming draft with the most portential to be a pro, pocket passing QB. He is extremely raw, but he’s a lot like Brady was in college. You could see the potential in Brady but he lacked the experience and refinement, but his tool set screamed NFL. I see same deal with Hackenberg, and trust me i hate saying it because i have a strong no PSU players philosophy….i hate that school, but i have seen pretty solid things from him.

Prescott is what he is, he’s a very mobile guy, and he probably winds up a lot like Kaepernick, but he already has better accuracy, touch and ability to read defense so i think there is more to work with than there was with Kaepernick.

  46. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Piggy, I said Vernon is bad on that play. I mentioned him first. LOL

Vernon isn’t a good DE. I think he’d be better as a 3-4 OLB because he struggles too often to be a staple DE. He plays hard and to the whistle but his size is an issue.

    • D's avatar D says:

I think he is a pretty decent DE, he is just not an elite pass rush DE. He is the guy who is kinda a blend of the run support skills and pass rush ability. There are a bunch of teams that run a 4-3 bit they way they play he fits them. I think he inds up going to one of those next year in FA.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

His pass rush isn’t very good and he’s been part of a bad run defense going back to last year. I don’t think losing him to FA is a big deal.

  47. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

As we all know, Wins and Losses don’t go to the QB, they go the TEAM!

If you guys that think it’s mainly the QB can give me a list of QB’s that you think that rule doesn’t apply to, go ahead and list them.

    • D's avatar D says:

QB is just the person that the blame/fame gets thrown on. Its just how the NFL is, and pretty much always is. Its not the facts of the matter and i don’t judge my evaluation of a QB on team record, or team play, i watch them and i judge them on their play. They are though an important piece of half the team’s productivity, so they have a lot of opportunities to be the savior or the goat. Is what it is.

    ——————–
Chud only coached 1 season so forget the ‘last’ part :P. His QB choices were Jason Campbell, Brandon Weeden, and Hoyer LOL. He got canned because of a change in ownership and a new GM wanting his own ppl in place. As OD says constantly, Cleveland is the mistake by the lake…even Belichick failed to do much there in 5 years time.
    Mike Smith

    • D's avatar D says:

Guess in none of my post the point got across that all the candidate have their statistical flaws, Mike Smiths’ are no less concerning. Just an observation that all candidates have flaws the best one isnt the one with the best statistical support numbers.

    • Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

Mike Smith is a solid coach though is what I wanted to finish with but he has that Marty Schottenheimer / Dennis Green feel to him…will get your team organized and into the playoffs but not sure he can get the team over the top. It’s a start for sure, at this point, this club needs someone like those guys I mentioned. I’ll worry about another type of coach if someone like Mike Smith can’t get over the hump in the playoffs.

  54. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Believe me, I wish for the same for Tannehill. I hate that sometimes he leaves plays on the field, but it’s also a cumulation of not having a lot of time due to a poor pass blocking O-line, and also partly poor field vision and anticipation. Some QB’s have it, some don’t.

His pass rush isn’t very good and he’s been part of a bad run defense going back to last year. I don’t think losing him to FA is a big deal.
    ——————————————-
I have seen several plays he set the edge really nicely, and prevented backs from getting outside. He seems to me better than average, to good at run defense and about the same eval on pass rush. I do agree with you though that losing him in FA isnt a big deal and a draft pick like Shaq Lawson can do what he do….. and yes i meant the last part to sound like that i have been watching too many “True facts” videos.

    ————–
All we need is a couple of coordinators, possibly a HC, an olineman or two, some linebackers, two or three pieces in the secondary, a new passrusher, more consistent QB play, a new waterboy, and a partridge in a pear treeeeeeee!

    It’s almost too easy…

  68. D's avatar D says:

Grime relies on his athleticism to defend, he’s a smaller corner, but he is fast, he’s got major hops and he has great instincts. This is true for Revis as well but Revis is able to also play a more physical game with receivers and bump them off their routes, making him a little better in one on one. That said both guys will deteriorate rapidly when their athleticism begins to dwindle. I thinkw e are starting to see it with Grimes but dont know that he has hit a point where he is still not better than most at their best. I do think though Watkins showed he is going to have trouble with this new bunch of young, extremely gifted receivers and i think we will find more and more over the rest of this year and next that he is becoming a liability. Revis because he has the ability to play physical may stay elite a tad longer.

  69. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

it was also very windy and raining last night. Taylor did try to hit watkins because he was open but the ball sailed on him. It had nothing to do with revis play. Watkins was wide open a couple of times. He hit those passes when they played us.

Don’t know why there is so much finger pointing at specific players when the coordinators are the problem. Coyle’s system sucks and the D sucked last year. They suck worse this year cause teams know the weaknesses of this system, especially our division (4 of 5 losses). The not really new DC is running the same system so it still sucks. The O is no better cause of the play calling. Not enough running and trying to run from shotgun and not under center. The finger pointing should be at those 2. So much finger pointing that we poke them in the frickin eyeball. IMHO anyway.

IF YOUR LB SUCK BALLS AND YOUR DB HAVE ISSUES IN SPACE THEN ITS PLAIN AS DAY IN WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO -> SELL OUT AND BOX UP THE FRONT WITH 7 (GO WIDE 9 WITH THE DE) AND JAM THE LB IN THE GAPS EVERY TIME BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO FAIL REGARDLESS SO MIGHT AS WELL PRESSURE THE QB INTO A MISTAKE.

For me, it’s simple. I don’t see Tannehill as a guy who can win championships unless the team around him is very good. I think he’s as good as he’s gonna get, and the flaws in his game have not gotten better in over 4 years. He doesn’t make anybody around hm better. How long do we wait for them to build a great team around him? That could take forever…or never. That’s why every team wants a QB who can win games for you. And, there are a number of QBs who do it. Some folks around here act like that never happens, so we shouldn’t expect it from Tannehill.
    ***
This whole franchise is a mess, and they have a whole lot of work to do if they plan on getting to a SB with Tannehill. It would have been so much easier if he was actually a franchise QB. Oh well, I have no faith in this franchise at this point. They’re floundering, badly.

Real quick…Tannehill is not the problem, he’s not the reason teams are running at will against us. Suh hasn’t done shit. Grimes is wayyy overrated (at least by some of this crew). He’s always chasing the WR and stumbling like Prince in his “Kiss” video when he’s chasing a chick at about the 2:52 mark. We need to run a minimum of 20 times to help open up the pass game. Mac Notwen has been successful because he runs some, and J-Stew gets the ball over 20 times a game regardless of output. and last, the slide continues…HOWIE 34 – 13 Eagles.
