Game Day Wrap Up: Dolphins @ Jests

nursepokey

Hey Dolfans

The Dolphins took  a beating on Sunday and need the sweet tender touch of Nurse Pokey.

Mike Pouncey, Rishard Matthews, Jelani Jenkins, Jordan Phillips, Earl Mitchell, CJ Mosley, Jarvis Landry everyone took some hits yesterday

But no more than you the Dolfan…

image

The jests fondled and groped each other to a big dominant victory.

It seems like all season we have seen some jaw dropping stat lines.  This week it was rushing stats.  How is this for you – Jests ran for 137 yards.  Dolphins 12.  Ouch

The jests finished the game with 38 points but most of them were through the air as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 4 TDs.

image

2 of those TDs were caught by “Stabby” himself.  Good job Marshall – I will shank you!

The Jests gained 277 yards in the air, which is significantly less than the 351 yards the Dolphins gained in the air.  But the Dolphins were trailing the entire day after failing to score with great field position on three consecutive drives to start the game.

What’s a matter feeling a little sick?

image

Well here is the good news.  Jarvis Landry had another good day.  Landry caught 13 passes for 165 yards and a TD.  In a horrible season Landry continues to play hard and show he is the real deal.  That’s 65 catches on the year for 651 Yards and 3 TDs.  And that doesn’t even include his special teams impact or rushing yards.

There were some drops by the other receiver but rookie DeVante Parker finally made an impact and scroed a TD on a 33 yard catch with a lot of YAC.  Parker finished the game with 80 yards.

Another rookie Jay Ajayi caught 4 passes for 52 yards.

On the bright side rookies like Parker, Ajayi, Douglas

, Phillips and even Good Ole Bobby McCain are seeing the field are getting some playing time and playing hard.  And when you are 4-7 you need to look to the future…

Let’s keep nursing those baby Dolphins!

BabyDolphin copy

Oh…one more thing…bend over and get ready for the final 5 games of the season.  Pokey is coming for you!

I admit that I’d like to see more fire from Tannehill, but some guys just aren’t that way. It does seem to be something lacking in him. I’m sure he cares, but he doesn’t seem like a real competitive guy.

    • Agreed….problem is I see no leaders on this team. Jarvis Landry and Reshad Jones are our best players. This team is not talented and we’ve seen it in these embarrassing losses. Tanny is inconsistent and I believe has a low football IQ.

      • Mike E. says:

I don’t know if he has a low football IQ, or just some real bad habits. When you feel like you don’t have time to operate with, you start rushing everything, including the decision processes. I saw him make an awful lot of bad decisions yesterday. On the other hand, the fact that he wasn’t given power to audible makes you wonder if somethings missing.

  2. getterdone says:

He looks pissed a lot and makes his remarks known on the sidelines and in the locker room from what I’ve seen. But if you want temper tantrums, then I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO FUCKIN TELL YA OK!?!?!?!

  3. Mike E. says:

    GDP

I don’t see it man. I see Brady freaking out last night when his C didn’t snap the ball in time, and he had to call a time out. I just don’t see that. I can’t stand Brady, but I’m telling you, those guys in the huddle respect Brady, and when he chews out his O-line like that, he makes them know they’re accountable. They probably don’t like him, they might even hate him, but I guarantee they all respect him.

    • Tim Knight says:

That’s from all the winning. When things aren’t going well everything gets questioned and that’s fine. But I’m not going to pretend that Tanny never plays well to verify questioning everything about him during tough times which happens all the time in sports. I’ve been hearing it about Eli for years.

      • Mike E. says:

Of course it’s from winning, but it’s a product of winning. Some of the best coaches in football are hated because they yell at their players, and chew them out when they fuck up. Parcells was famous for doing that. His players were always accountable, and they responded. I know the game has changed since then, but we can make fun of Brady from today till tomorrow, he’s a great leader, and his team responds and respects him, that’s without question.

    • Ken says:

I posted on last page. They used to say the same like of fire and leadership about Eli. Some leaders yell, some do it by their play. Where Tannehill is on this is hard to see if he lacks fire or is this team just a wreck no matter if he is yelling or balling. I don’t know the answer.

  4. Randy says:

Ya know, it’s interesting how I hear Viking fans up here have some of the same, exact conversations we have. Honestly, I think we’re all fairly civil and considerate compared to some of the arguments I hear. I wonder if it’s just like that for every team.

  5. getterdone says:

Tim, I mentioned Earl Morrall earlier because you or somebody claimed that your season is lost if you have to rely on a backup QB for more than a couple of games.

As a modern example, Brock Osweiler ‘might’ be the future for Denver, and this remaining season even if Peyton feels better/like he can go throw more INT’s. 😉

    • Tim Knight says:

      It’s rare.

    • Ken says:

Both are different situations. Morrrall was in a time when there was no salary cap and you can carry a vet backup. To expect that in today’s game is unrealistic. In Denver’s case, Osweiler was a 2nd round pick who was drafted to be Peyton’s heir apparent. Additionally he is playing now because he is better than Peyton at this point because Peyton’s skills have significantly declined.

      • getterdone says:

LOL, why does everyone always come with a “hey, you can’t make those comparisons, that was different than this situation’ LOL, they’re all different. But no one ever goes, yeah, good point of when a team gets it right or at least got lucky, or was a real good coached team then…. 🙄

  6. I never have seen Tanny go off on his teammates. …ever. Like I said he reminds me of the robot before him….unemotional.

  7. getterdone says:

Randy, now did you go and start a blog riot in Minny about how Teddy sucks?

  8. finfanrob says:

But yes….sometimes I go a little overboard to get people going…sue me!

    randy,

now that makes you get a lot of face here.

  9. Mike E. says:

    Ken

Montana probably never had to go off on his teammates, he had some great players on his teams, in an age without the salary cap.

    • Ken says:

True except for his 1st SB team that beat the Ken Anderson led Bengals. That team, especially on offense was pretty vanilla. RBs Ricky Cooper, Paul Hofer and Bill Ring. WRs Freddie Solomon and Dwight Clark were pretty good but neither were ever elite. That to me was Montana’s greatest season by taking that group and winning SB

  10. Anyhow another season wasted.

  11. finfanrob says:

lol, so now from watching a game one can tell the emotional state of a player. tanny doesnt get ’emotional’ enough during the game. maybe they need to just start tanny when he is pmsing. lmfao

  12. Mike E. says:

    Ken

They also had one of the best HC’s in the game in Bill Walsh.

  13. finfanrob says:

lol, the idiot wilbon saying over and over how the cheats got hosed by the refs. what a fucking idiot. and i dont mean wilbon, i mean myself for even putting espn on

Same on defense, ya can’t scare anybody with soft zones, ineffective front 4, lack of terrifying blitzes, and poor tackling, lack of physical POP.

Not every QB can gaze upon the sky as a caveman seeing snow for the first time. lol

Those are the teams that usually have a higher chance of winning championships.
Miami isn’t there yet and hasn’t been since Dan & Don left.

he should have tanny go out before the game and start calling the other team a bunch of little snot nose bugger eating girls while wearing jeans and a leather t shirt. i am sure that would work

I’d like to draft a potential to replace Moore with either, Brandon Doughty from W. Kentucky or Brandon Allen the Razorback out of Arkansas. He’s been really improving and might be the best SEC QB coming out.

What Oklahoma Wesleyan University President Everett Piper wrote in response to a student’s complaint that certain “campus activities, including lectures and sermons” made him “feel uncomfortable.”
    ——————-
“This is not a day care. If you want us to tell you you’re a victim rather than tell you that you need virtue, this may not be the university you’re looking for. If you want to complain about a sermon that makes you feel less than loving for not showing love, this might be the wrong place.

If you’re more interested in playing the “hater” card than you are in confessing your own hate; if you want to arrogantly lecture, rather than humbly learn; if you don’t want to feel guilt in your soul when you are guilty of sin; if you want to be enabled rather than confronted, there are many universities across the land (in Missouri and elsewhere) that will give you exactly what you want, but Oklahoma Wesleyan isn’t one of them.”

  37. Randy says:

I think a leader can lead in many ways. It doesn’t have to always be in a demonstrative way. Fans always love that because it’s visual, and we can SEE their passion…or so we tell ourselves. Sometimes we’re just seeing guys lose their cool….which rarely helps.
    ***
I don’t believe a leader has to be that sort of guy, but he has to be a guy who sets the tone for what will or won’t be tolerated as far as preparation and accountability, and I do believe he has to show he has passion for the game. That starts with him, but he has to demand it of his teammates too. Coaches can only do so much. Great teams are built from within.
    ***
There’ve just been far too many things with this team over the past 5 years or so that suggest nobody is doing that with this team. I’m not even talking about Tannehill. But, the reality of the NFL is that he is thrust into a leadership role whether he likes it or not as a QB. Is he…and the other leaders on this team…demanding that from one another? It sure doesn’t look like it from the outside.

  39. finfanrob says:

    son,

the refs already agree on what a catch is. if the pats wr touches the ball or it lands within a two yard vicinity of him that is a catch. if their opponent catches the ball and doesnt hold in to it thru the post game shower then that is incomplete cause he didnt make a football move.

  40. getterdone says:

Lazor’s offense also got too pass-happy, as evidenced by the 58-9 pass-to-run distribution in Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets.

  41. finfanrob says:

    randy,

i will say this about the leadership and this ’emotional’ issue. i think suh has demonstrated he has a very intent emotional side and he has taken on leadership role……..that fired up emotional leaders defense only gave up 38 points yesterday. whew just imagine if the d didnt have an emotional leader.

  42. getterdone says:

NFL Network’s Rand Getlin reports Rishard Matthews suffered “multiple fractured ribs” in the Dolphins’ Week 12 loss to the Jets.
He’s out indefinitely. The Dolphins now figure to turn to first-round pick DeVante Parker as a starter down the stretch of their lost season. Although his usage was skewed by negative game script, Parker piled up 10 targets against the Jets, securing four for 80 yards and a touchdown.

  47. finfanrob says:

    son,

i know. how about the only reason matthews was sick is cause he knew tanny would throw a pass behind him and get him hit and his ribs broke.

  48. son of a son of a shula says:

GDP, I wasn’t gonna go here but let’s review. You hated Cam but loved Gabbert and you told all of us that Ricky Stanzi was gonna be a good one. You can laugh at me all you want but I have quite a few right and right now I’d much rather have Cousins leading us than Tannehill. Guess what Cousins is in first place right now.

  49. getterdone says:

  50. son of a son of a shula says:

  51. finfanrob says:

lol, so now resorting to calling out who was right or wrong about a player. that is sad. so many of you guys are wrong and right, you name so many players some are wrong and right.

you just have to love it when ones hatred for one player makes him turn to cheap shots and turning a blind eye to everything else wrong with the team and blaming all those faults on the one player.

  52. getterdone says:

    Son
Huh, Never said I hated Cam, just wasn’t sold on him as a pure pocket passer for us here.
Gabbert love? You must have me confused with another poster.
Stanzi I did think had the prototypical size and was good under Ferentz in Iowa, but he’s either buried on a depth chart or just can’t translate to NFL.

Cousins, although has potential, I wasn’t sold on him in Miami and still think Tannehill will be better long term.
Glad Cousins is in 1st place in a bad division.
BTW, when is he gonna win a game on the road?

    • getterdone says:

Oh, I was high on Osweiler, but he may be a flash in the pan after teams get enough film on him.

His freakish height for a QB @ 6’8 could affect his passing. You could see it some last nite. But that’s something he can work on.

Right away I said he just got popped on the knee cap and it’s a bone bruise, with a slight sprain from hyperextension. I’ve had that happen before and it hurts like crazy, but no surgery was needed.

But the way he was rolling around the announcers went straight to doom n gloom, and they brought a cart out…lol

  66. getterdone says:

During his appearance on PFT Live Monday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald said that the decision to fire offensive coordinator Bill Lazor was made by interim head coach Dan Campbell and not executive vice president for football operations Mike Tannenbaum or anyone else in the front office.

Campbell said the same thing during his Monday press conference while discussing Lazor’s departure from the team. Campbell called it 100 percent his decision and that it came after he shared his feeling with Tannenbaum and team owner Stephen Ross. Campbell pointed to the team’s lack of balance offensively — 61 called passes in Sunday’s loss to the Jets and nine runs — as the reason why he wanted to make a change.

“We have to find a way to become a more physical offense,” Campbell said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “We need more of a physical presence. How ever we establish that, that’s what I’m looking for. I don’t think we scare anybody in the AFC East and that bothers me. We need to find a way, even if it is two yards and a cloud of dust. … I am a more run-oriented person. I want to be more balanced. I like a more balanced approach.”

I’m not expecting a world of difference, but I really do think more balance in the offense will help a lot.

Ok, time to watch two QB’s better than Tanny.
    Go Turkey Bowl !

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

  76. Rockphin says:

I think this will be my last year as a Dolphins fan. All is dark on the horizon. Tannanbum is in charge. Mangini will be the new HC!!! We are in cap hell and have no way to replenish the team with quality players. We have too much money tied up in Suh and Tannehill and Albert. None of whom are worth it.

  77. finfanrob says:

i dont think firing lazor means anything more then he sucked. there isnt much that is going to change this year in turns of wins and losses. in addition to the horrible coaching, this team lacks talent. if i was in the front office and the head coach, an former TE’s coach and now interim head coach wanted to fire someone cause he doesnt listen to him, i would let him do as he wanted. what is it going to hurt.

this team has a talent issue in addition to a coaching issue

  78. The Flying Pig says:

I don’t think we lost vs the jests bc we lacked balance

The patriots beat the jests rushing 9 times just like we did
And 4 of those rushes were brady rushes
So even less than we did yesterday

It’s lack of balance paired with a very predictable passing game that lacked a lot of variety

WR screens should not be such a high % of your offense
I think a Lazor took Chip Kelly’s offense to an up extreme

And that paired with Philbins finesse design has just made it easy for teams to beat us

  79. Randy says:

    Rock,
Albert has played pretty well when he’s healthy….he just can’t stay healthy. Not really getting much return on investment though…..no doubt.

  80. Rockphin says:

The season was conceded after week four when they fired the head coach. The only thing that can come from a better showing from the team the rest of the year is putting us back into the middling draft pick range again. what sucks is I can’t even look forward to the potential for hope because I have no confidence in Ross or Tannanbaum making the right decisions.

you do kind of get the cheats have this guy named brady. and an offensive they have run for years. a defense that can stop other teams, the refs and a head coach who knows hot to cheat.

comparing the dolphins game plan to the cheats is like comparing rosanne bar to kate upton. it just makes no sense at all

    • The Flying Pig says:

designing a game plan that plays into another teams weaknesses is hardly reserved for the Kate Upton of NFL teams

The patriots recognized that the jests strength was the rush defense and weakness the pass defense

They came out with the intent to pass
we abandoned the run when we fell behind

      Its just game planning
I think teams, any teams, can get away with an unbalanced attack
but it really depends on the defense

  82. finfanrob says:

wow, i dont know…..rockjets sound more like Flintstones airline then a football fan.

ok, now i get where rock is coming from. this team drives one crazy. if he doesn’t want to put up with the bs and losing i totally get it.

i mean look at me, i am a buc fan now. HAHA…HAHAHA…..HAAAAAHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  86. finfanrob says:

    piggy,

come on really. the fins should have game planned to have tanny throw 60 times like that pats did? ok great game plan for an average qb to perform like brady then bitch how bad he is when he doesnt. that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

    • The Flying Pig says:

they threw the ball in desperation not by design
so it really doesn’t matter who Tanny is

My point was – yes they should have game planned to attack the jests weaknesses –
      thats what winning teams do
      Especially with Revis out.
      Which means throw the ball
That is not the exclusive territory of Tom Brady
I don’t know why you don’t understand that
winning teams attack weaknesses of other teams
Its what the partiots did – and they probably would have done it with Garropolo too

somehow you twisted this argument about game planning to attack the weakness of the jests into another attempt to try to convince people not to criticize Ryan Tannehill

I guess I cannot suggest we throw the ball on 3rd and long since Tanny is an average QB either…where does this logic end

You are hitting new heights is deflecting arguments to get people criticizing Tanny now

I can’t even discuss the topic with you b/c you twist everything completely out of context

  87. steveccnv says:

Wow Hartline! With 18 seconds left in the half he catches the ball on the 5 yrd line, no one within 5 yrds of him and he backs up toward the goal line and falls down at the 3. They run 3 more plays all incomplete and kick an FG.

  88. Rhino says:

eventually the Fins will run out of people to fire. 🙂

    • herdfan says:

This way has more drama. Anyone could just fire everyone all at once. It adds some zing to an otherwise lost season. We could make a game of it….any takers on who might be next?

      • The Flying Pig says:

        My guess is
The guy at the hot dog stand – Fred

Fred adds to much mustard to the hot dogs
And that causes Tannehill to miss some of his receivers

ok, you acutally made some sense till you decided to turn this into some kind of personal attack. i guess being a pig you cant read english in all where i say over and over that tanny has his faults just that i am i guess smarter then a pig and i see faults all over so i dont just focus on him.

and yes, you game plan to attach the jets weakness, but you do that while game planning to use your teams strengths. and ok, i hope this is in piglatin so you get it. tanny is not one of the teams strengths. so great, game plan to attack a weakness but dont get pissed off if they game plan to do it with someone that cant do it.

you on one hand say it isnt parkers fault where he was drafted but then want to blame the organization for game planing to some guys weakness.

  91. finfanrob says:

ok i am done, i wont say anything else about tanny, it gets really old here with the ones who just want to blame him only and not point out how bad this team is. pretty sure tanny never played a down on defense. but i will let the pigs of this world just say it is all his fault. i will be above that and blame the entire organization.

once again where you are wrong. if fred messed up it would be adding ketchup to a hot dog. no such thing as too much mustard to a dog. but then again you are a pig. you cant eat hot dog unless it is one of the all beef kind

  93. steveccnv says:

Wow, that’s as bad as a QB/coaching job as I’ve seen to end a game since Eli and Caughlin opening week. The Brown’s with 40 seconds left from the Ravens 42 run the clock all the way down to 9 seconds on a QB scramble that gets 9 yrds, and the idiot slides instead of running out of bounds to gain 3 more yards to make it a manageable Fg. With 9 seconds left, ok to run I guess, but don’t put the QB under center and tell them you’re going to run for -1. How ’bout throwing for 5 yrds? The kick now from 51 is blocked and returned for a TD.

I think the Browns will fire the coach after the yr, and we’ll end up with him next yr.

  94. finfanrob says:

    Steve,

Sorry bud. But if you don’t blame tanny and only talk about how tanny is to blame then you will be labeled a tanny defender.
