What Make Hulk Angry?

incredible-hulk

By Dr. Bruce Banner

So Hulk know that Phins not going anywhere this season. He know that even if Phins manage a few upsets here and there that it won’t mean anything in terms of playoffs. Hulk has said he done being angry about team. Nothing they can do will cause Hulk to rampage anymore. So Hulk sit down to watch Jets host Phins and then something happen during game. Hulk watch Phins squander early good field position. Then Hulk see key turnover squander another scoring opportunity. Then Hulk watch a journeyman QB better known for his scruffy beard than any NFL skill set he may possess start to carve through Phins D like it was wet dishtowel. Then Hulk watch Phin reject Brandon Marshal repeatedly school Phins best defensive back like he was an over the hill has been with nothing left in the tank. Then Hulk watch offensive line fail to get any push in run game. Then Hulk watch repeated low snaps from backup center. Then Hulk watch coaching staff not make adjustments to help backup center such as play more under center. Then Hulk watch D give up more 3rd and long conversions. Then Hulk watch when offense finally score then D turn around and give up long drive ending any hope of comeback.

As Hulk sit there and watch all that and Hulk notice a familiar feeling. He began to sweat, he breath harder, he feel pressure in head, he start to pound fist, he yell, he scream and then yes Hulk get angry! Hulk get angry at piss poor performance yet again against hated division rival. Hulk get angry at uninspired performance when all Hulk wanted to see if for Phins to show some pride. But these Phins have no pride. They no play with urgency. They flat out suck. There is nothing else to say.

Now Hulk want to know why Phins suck. Is the QB who everyone want to blame? Is it the offensive line whose play was truly offensive? Was is it Suh who supposedly made everything different now that he is here? Is it the Front Office who put this piece of you know what on the field? The problem is the answer is yes to all of the above and Hulk know that and that is what makes Hulk mad that he know this team is hopeless and yet he got suckered into caring about these Phins once again. It’s like Brokeback Hulk “I can’t quit you” bad. Why can’t Hulk quit this bunch of losers? What is it that makes Hulk keep coming back for more punishment? Is Steve Ross some kind of Marquis De Sade who can inflict punishment on Hulk over and over again? Hulk now get ready for more punishment next week. Ugh! Hulk Smash!

another way to gain a upper hand against other teams since all teams are equal concerning salaries, allowed practice events and playing in pads is to have more assistants on coaching staff. Bigger staffs. The owner Ross has shown he is willing to gain any advantage possible with weight training experts with customized programs for individuals added to team this year. Coaches even have a union so more coaches and stafff can be a advantage

Not a huge fan of the QBs at the top of this draft. I like the idea of getting a mid round guy to develop. I don’t think any of the top guys are as good as last years top prospects Winston and Mariotta

Zac Taylor was with Nebraska during their Callahan years when Callahan was installing the WCO. He and Suh were teammates for 2 seasons (during Suh’s red shirt freshman YR/ and 2nd year).
I guess they are just trying to see if they can find anything out of Zac but it’s a slippery sloap for sure but what else is there to lose.

If a player is that bad, then the coach would bench him & go with a back up. It’s what depth charts are for.

Now when a coach doesn’t use his players right, has a flawed system, poor game plans, play calling and adjustments…well then he got himself fired. With no one else to blame.

The NFL has told team executives to expect the 2016 salary cap to fall between $147 million and $155 million, according to a tweet from Jason Cole. That is an increase of between $3.72 million and $11.72 million over the $143.28 million cap for this year.

The Miami Dolphins currently are estimated for have $150,366,854 spent against the cap for next year, according to OverTheCap.com. In addition, they have $4,156,259 in dead money, which brings the team’s total salary cap number to $154,523,113. They have 38 players currently under contract for 2016, meaning the team needs to find some salary cap space.

Part of that space will come from the team’s roll-over of unused space from this season. According to the NFL Players Association, Miami is currently $10,553,037 under the 2015 cap. Whatever the do not use this year will be allowed to be added to their cap space for next year.

Miami’s top five salary cap numbers for next year will be defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh’s $28.6 million, quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s $11.64 million, offensive tackle Branden Albert’s $10.15 million, center Mike Pouncey’s $10.025 million, and defensive end Cameron Wake’s $9.8 million.

According to a report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Dave Hyde in October, Suh’s contract allows for an individual year’s base salary to be spread over a five-year span. That could allow Miami to move his $23.485 million base salary next year into a five-year spread at just $4.7 million. That would lower his salary cap number from $28.6 million to $9.8 million, giving Miami back $18.8 million in cap space. Of course, eventually, Miami will have to pay for Suh’s contract, but the ability to get some cap space next year will help the team as they re-build after what has turned out to be a poor 2015 campaign.

  40. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

GD, not much success from Chud and Jackson.

I like Smith because he’s had the most success of the coaches available. He’s a defensive coach and publicly said his team wasn’t physical enough his last 2 years and he wanted it to be. The Falcons had a lot of quality vet players with Smith and he won with them along with a rookie and young QB. When that dried up the cupboard got bear and look at the Falcons now, crashing and burning once again. Their personnel dept. outside of a few nice talents have done a bad job retooling that team.

He’s a coach 2nd time around I can see having success again, maybe the ultimate success. I also didn’t like him the first time around as a candidate but I can’t ignore what he accomplished.

He was on with Mike Francesa a few weeks ago because he wrote a book and said he learned a lot his first time around and feels he’d be a better coach his 2nd time based on what he learned which makes sense.

He’s my favorite at this time until I see someone become available who seems like a better fit.

  42. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I don’t know anything about how you judge a player and how their game will transition to the NFL after college. But…..I do know you see over and over, players who did great in college, 1st round picks and are major busts in the NFL. And you also see players who go in the later rounds and turn into NFL stars. I don’t think anyone knows what the hell they are talking about! 😉

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It really isn’t an exact science. Teams fall in love with all the measurables and don’t know if the guy is a warrior until they start coaching them seeing them in practice and in games.

That’s why it always drove me nuts when fans would question the coaches on Dion Fuckface and how he was used. Maybe he sucked in practice. But every fan had better ideas on how to use him from afar. How is that even possible?

They tried to get him into the game and used him in a few different spots and his production was minimal. It’s not hard to get a front 7 guy who’s super talented to make plays and DFF flashed at times but now we all know he had something else going on. Suspended 3 times in just over a year. That’s really hard to do.

  43. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Son, Smith said during the Falcons demise that his team wasn’t physical enough anymore on both sides of the ball. They couldn’t run or rush the passer anymore. That’s a personnel issue. Coaches can’t make guys be something they’re not, they go with who they have. Very similar to us. We lose way too many one on one battles. That’s a personnel issue regardless of scheme.

  44. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

Herd, The step from college to the pros is a huge one and success in college, as you pointed out, does not mean success in the pros. The thing personnel people have to do is look for certain traits which of course go along with size and speed. A QB for example won’t make it when he has a big wind up, he has to have a fast compact throwing motion to make it in the NFL otherwise the speed of the defenders will eat him up, throwing windows will close too quickly and/or he’ll take sacks. Every position has certain traits they scout for some a lot more subtle than others so it does end up becoming a crap shoot at times.

  50. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I hate saying this but when Belichick gets the right defensive players he has a lot of options. He can play 4-3, 3-4, use unorthodox alignments and personnel and opponents have no idea who’s doing what. He targets smart players who can do multiple jobs. That’s how you have to build your defense these days. You can’t just say we play this and these guys do this and that’s it so here you go anymore, because offenses don’t do that anymore. You have to have answers for different teams week to week. Not run into situations like we do where we can’t match up with big WRs and talented TEs. Also speedy RBs to the outside.

One thing Belichick does is he does not allow outside runs and perimeter plays most of the time. He wants everything in the box where there are more defenders and more chances for turnovers. In our traditional 4-3 scheme we allow a lot of open pockets for guys to make plays. The only way you can play that way is to have above average personnel at most positions which we do not. The game has changed. Nobody can cover anyone anymore, not just us.

Belichick stays ahead of the curve even when his defense isn’t overly talented. His defenses are always opportunistic so add that to an offense that can put points on the board and you see how they remain a consistent winning team.

This is all besides the cheating. 🙂

  51. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      LOL

On a serious note I’ve been watching the Pats defense this year which is good because they have what he had back when their reign started. Very versatile defenders. DL who can play LB, LBs who can play DL, CBs who can play S, S’s who can play LB. They constantly shift their alignments and mix in different personnel and force and wait for opportunities. It’s not perfect, teams moves the ball on them like every other defense gets the ball moved on them. They just come up with more big stops than most teams.

  52. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    tim,

i honestly have a hard time saying if belicheat is a good coach or not. there is no respect with the cheating and all. once a cheater always a cheater, i dont know if he is a good coach or just found another way of cheating. so he gets no respect from me

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I hear ya on that but with the Giants as a DC he was excellent with their talented personnel and took them to another level because he utilized the versatile talent they had. They were like 7-8 deep at LB lead by LT, Carson and Banks. He did a lot of creative things with them because they weren’t just physically talented but game smart players. Besides a very stout DL, they had okay corners but hard hitting safeties. That defense was tougher on those Montana teams than Ryan’s Bears defense was.

I’m seeing it again this year even though they’re coming off of getting burned in OT which was awesome. LOL

  53. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

The thing that truly separates college talent from becoming productive NFL talent besides the obvious smarts, size & speed measurables, is MENTAL TOUGHNESS!

The NFL is a grind unlike any other. Between new found wealth, outside distractions because of that wealth, you also have the grind, willingness, determination, & discipline to do what it takes to excel beyond whatever you already thought you were capable of, or demonstrated in the past.

It’s all new, all different now to the ten power.
Complex schemes, playbooks, competition everywhere with hungry guys wanting your spot, and adjusting to the pro talent you face week in and week out.

This is where many guys fall short and despite great college stats and great athletic ability, they just weren’t mentally tough enough to handle so much on their plate after they’ve been coddled thru the prep years.

    Welcome to the NFL.

Even he as a young man he’s doing some dumb young man things at times but he overcomes it with superior effort and some of his skill sets are elite – routes, hands and physical running for a WR. He’s more like a RB with the ball in his hands than a WR. He is special and we better get with the program with him here or he’ll bolt as a FA in a couple of years and get plenty of offers. He’s Hines Ward Part II.

Two 13-3 seasons, a championship game, 5 winning seasons, 4 playoff appearances in 7 seasons with a young QB. No we couldn’t possibly want that, we need something more mysterious and unknown. LOL

    Mike Mularkey, Jacksonville Jaguars (2012)

Then his HC record of 66-46 with only two losing seasons in his last two years as ATL came apart. We have not had a coach with that kind of winning pct. since Shula and the Falcons were never the best team talent wise during that time.

“He can’t win the big one.” They said the same thing about Shula when he started as a HC.

Before anyone loses their minds, not saying Mike Smith is Don Shula, but let’s be real about Shula. Lost his first two SBs, won two, lost two. 2-4. Just being in the mix which Smith did with those ATL teams is what you want. You can’t win if you can’t get there. Smith has at least given his teams a chance to play for a championship as opposed to what we’ve had where we’ve only been in the playoffs once in the last 9 years.

Shula got to the biggest of dances 6 times but lost more than he won. I’ll take playoff fun with the hope we can win one championship in the next 5 years if I’m still alive. LOL

Ken, I think you’re missing what went on in ATL and blaming Smith for it. Where are the Falcons now? Falling out of the playoff picture after a great start (5-0) because they were fortunate to win a few close games early. The Giants handed them their game. That team is void of personnel in key areas. ATL has lost 5 of their last 6.

Look to their personnel dept., that’s where that org screwed up.

  67. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

    Tim,

Don’t be discouraged by 1st time coaches just because Miami hired the wrong ones (other teams have had success because they hired DC/OC who did good or excelled at their respective coordinator position prior to becoming HC).

The coaches Miami hired all had flags before they were even hired in Miami but the FO discounted them.

Cam Cameron: hired coming off a huge playoff choke vs NE in 2007 where Ladanian Tomlinson dominated the 1st half and where Cam went away from it in the 2nd half opening up the door for NE to come back. Then when SD needed a huge conversion in the 4Q he called up a pass play where Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson weren’t even the primary option. Beyond his time in Miami; John Harbaugh fired his ass with the Ravens sitting at 9-4 because of his quirky play calls at moments in a game (that Ravens team went on to win the SB).

    Joe Philbin:
Was titled with “OC” in GB under McCarthy’s staff but he never called plays (McCarthy calls them).
This same logic applied to Lazor who worked for Chip Kelly for only 1 year but never called plays.
Lazor did call plays in Virginia and was a former QB himself who threw alot in college but I never thought he’d go away from run the way he did in Miami.

    —–

Unfortunately the timing of the coaching changes has hurt Miami in that there weren’t many options when Philbin was hired (Fisher isn’t doing much better in the W-L column over in STL).

In retrospect, sticking with the status quo until a good candidate becomes available might be the way to go instead of selecting out of the pool when you fire someone.

I’m seeing the options that are currently out there and don’t like how they fit in Miami.
I’d just keep Campbell around to be honest with you. Sounds like a defeatist thing to say but I think it can work.

Unless Sean Payton, Mike Shanahan, or even a Guz Malzhan are available i’m not interested in whats out there in the candidate pool.

Mike Smith isn’t a bad option at all but he’s along the lines of Dan Reeves, Marty Schottenheimer, Dennis Green. A guy who can organize the team well and make them playoff calibur but will always come up short of a championship because of his vanilla approach in big games.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Al, Lazor wasn’t the OC in Philly. He was just the QB coach for Foles. So he never was going to call plays. Pat Shurmur does, and he’s even credited with the success Foles had more so than Lazor was. So very very bad hire in Lazor!!!

I know, I said Philbin had the OC title in GB even though he was technically a QB coach with OC game planning duties. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reports the Dolphins “have interest” in Saints coach Sean Payton, Bengals OC Hue Jackson, and UCLA coach Jim Mora for their head-coaching vacancy.
Payton is reportedly seriously considering leaving the Saints at season’s end amid the legal drama with the team’s ownership situation. Once/if he does depart, there will be no shortage of suitors lining up to talk to him after he and Drew Brees pulled the Saints out of the gutter post-Hurricane Katrina. Hue Jackson also figures to be very likely to land a head-coaching gig, while Mora has long been mentioned among NFL circles after spending the past four years at UCLA.
