So Hulk watch Phins finally beat dreaded Ravens from Baltimore. This is a team that has cursed Phins for long time with painful losses in playoffs and regular season. Hulk watch the hated Matt Schaub who beat Phins five teams as starting quarterback of Texans and never lose to Phins. Hulk watch Schaub get tossed around like ragdoll and throw ball into defenders hands. Hulk watch young WR with bad foot finally play and make impact on game with 2 crucial catches including big touchdown catch. Hulk watch defense make crucial plays with game on the line. So you think Hulk would be happy? Wrong!
Hulk was feeling happy for a brief moment, then he come here and he see who was complaining about scoring only 15 points, who was complaining that our quarterback was no good. Who was complaining that our offensive line is what let down quarterback. Hulk say okay I see same old debates even with win. It start to make Hulk feel angry that we can no even enjoy hard fought win against a team that has caused us much pain. But even this no make Hulk that angry. What make Hulk angry was when he read that win was no good because it means we move down in draft order. Hulk get angry when he sees fan who wants us to lose just so we get first pick.
Hulk not always good in reason but this how Hulk figures things. Hulk no want to be drafting at number 1. Hulk wants Phins to draft at number 32. So any game that gets Phins closer to 32 better than any game that gets Phins closer to number 1. Trying to lose games to get draft position is something that talking heads like Blowmar like to go off about. Fans should never root for team to lose. When Hulk watch game he feels anger rise up within him when he see team in danger of losing. Hulk gets that way because he has fire for team to win. It doesn’t matter if it is only for one game Hulk feel it better to win that game than lose it. Hulk would want heads of anyone in organization who is actively trying to lose game to gain draft choice. There is no room for that in professional sports. Even Hulk know that. So what would make Hulk happy? If this team can go on a 5 game run and win some games, finish strong with momentum and then we really have something to build on. What would make Hulk angry? Anyone saying we should lose just to get better draft pick. Hulk Smash!

We shouldn’t have to give up a draft pick to get a Head Coach. I’d almost call that team’s bluff. If you’re willing to trade your HC, you’re probably going to fire them anyway.
There is no HC candidate available worth a draft pick to me.

Marvin Lewis also went through really bad stretches but since the Bengals ownership are cheap they’ve stuck with him for 13 seasons and he’s been on a good run of late sans playoff victories. Until the last 5 seasons, he only had two winning seasons the prior 8 years. Our fan base would never stand for that kind of patience. LOL

Ken, if a team is wiling to take a 4th rd pick for a HC then they’re likely not keeping him anyway.
If a team is willing to trade a HC they are not likely to keep him. Very small market to trade a HC because they are likely done with their current team. Only reason you trade for him is if you expect you can’t sign him in a free market
The only time a team trades for a HC is if they consider him a big time coach and it’s usually expensive to get him. I can’t even think of a low end trade deal for a HC.

Offensively, he’s a downgrade from Murph. I hope he’s a better fielder
I’d like to hear Stanger’s take, but I’m not thrilled with the move. We gave up a trading chip for what looks like an average hitter.
Mike E, Walker’s offensive production is basically the same as Murphy with more power. There are some differences but it’s not that different. The problem is Murph is a horrible 2nd baseman. I’d keep him around as protection for Wright at 3rd and to play some 1st but that’s not likely an option.

Stanley is a redshirt junior he could have come out last year but returned. He was a late round 1st pick last year, at worst a very high round second. He’s probably a mid round first if not a to 10 this year

Mike E and TIm — you guys are going to love Neil Walker the person. He’s as solid as solid comes. My guess is he becomes a leader in the locker room.
You may not be wowed by him as a player, but he hits for decent average and has some pretty good power for a middle infielder (after time goes by you will figure out the power is from the left even if the average is not that far down on the right).
He’s nothing special in the field. Nice hands but not so much range (don’t think about him as a SS), but he is a gamer. Like I said, you will like Walker the person.
Do me the favor of telling me about Jon Niese. I was happy hearing about the trade cause we weren’t going to keep Walker anyhow. He’d price tagged himself out of our little team. So whatever he is good for…..figure it is more than we had before.

Jon Niese is a talented pitcher. He has a nice slider, probably his best pitch, and pretty good breaking ball as well. He throws his breaking ball (curve ball) across the plate, not 12-6. His fastball is about 90-92, but it’s not his out pitch. His biggest problem is meltdowns. When he gets in trouble, he tends to unravel. If some coach can work with him and figure out a way to calm him down, he can be a solid lefty in the rotation.
Sounds perfect for us. Our pitching coach, Ray Searage, is a master. He has a way of taking the broken toys of other teams and making them shiny and new. I’m sure a lot of it is his personality, but he tells them not to overthrow and then puts his one main personal pitching philosophy over and over into them like they have the eyelid things from Clockwork Orange on.
“Throw strikes and change speeds.” Seems simple, but it works…….saves arms too.
If that’s the case, you probably made a good trade. He’d pitch well for a few innings, and then unravel after an error, and just lose his composure, and the game of course. If everything went well, he’d always keep the team in the game.
Even better. When it comes to pure psychological we have some one even better.

Glad to have him. Burnett retired and Happ went on to higher paid pastures. Sounds like he’ll be the #3 or #4 we need.

Stanger, the only reason the Mets are moving Niese is his contract and 4 pitchers named deGrom, Harvey, Syndergaard and Matz.
Mostly Matz. Having the young left hander made Niese more expendable
These guys are going to have to be paid soon. I agree with Francesa try to lock up deGrom and Harvey now. Offer them that first time life changing contract now $4-60+M before they get into that $200+M range because we can’t pay all 4 that if they all pan out. They don’t make anywhere near that money right now. Not saying they will sign it or become big time long-term pitchers, but nobody knows which ones will be that kind of pitcher even though that kind of potential is there in all 4 of them. Offer it, know where you’re at with these guys and move accordingly. Then you think about trades for top position players and balance your team out that way.
We’re looking to re-sign Colon and use him as a mid-reliever and spot starter workhorse. It seems like he likes it here and would be interested in that role.
Mets also signed Asdrubal Cabrera. Not sure where that leaves Wilmer
Competition between Cabrera SS/2B, Flores and Tejada. Infield depth for the loss of Murphy. Wright is always a ? durability wise. Flores and Tejada can play 3rd. Then you have Herrera at 2B.
I see what the Mets are doing. They’re trying to build a better defensive team first then add offense. Good pitching and defense wins you those low scoring games we lost because of great pitching and bad offense and defense. That’s how the Royals built their team and our young pitching is better than theirs. That’s why we went after Zobrist. Same idea.
