The Wedge Scouting Report: Su’a Cravens, Safety/LB

Oh those Pesky Belusian Gopher Flies!  Like any good intergalactic agent – I shoot a photon missile directly at a planet.  I know its not the most creative way to destroy a planet…but I love watching the way the planet explodes.

Except mid air…out of nowhere a Gopher Fly grabs the missile and takes it away before it makes contact.  Light years away I see an explosion in the direction the fly went.

That must be what a pick six feels like.

space-explosion

Then days later…I found out that one of the Alpha Alien’s favorite vacation moons has exploded after it was hit by MY MISSILE!

And who gets blamed for that!

I don’t even know what those pests are…are they a rodent or an insect…

kinda reminds of some of the prospects I can’t place

SuaCravens4

Su’a Cravens is a fascinating prospect.  In his freshmen year Cravens played Safety for USC, then USC switched him to Linebacker.

At both positions he excelled at USC.

So which is he in the NFL?

Well, I’ve seen him called the next Troy Polamalu.

And I think he fits the mold of a safety.

SuaCravens3

But not everyone agrees.  In fact I’m hearing a lot of NFL scouts are projecting him at Linebacker in the NFL.  Which surprises me.  But what do I know – I’m not even from your miserable planet.

Could it be that Cravens fits the mold of the new NFL pass covering linebacker?  Seems like this sort of Linebacker is more and more what the NFL wants out of the position in a pass happy NFL.

Cravens may not be the best coverage linebacker in the draft this year, that honor probably goes to his instate rival Myles Jack.  But Cravens is one of the best available this year and one of the best I can remember.

13.usc.1108.per_.jpg

But that is not the only thing Cravens did at USC.  Cravens had over 200 tackles in 3 years at USC.  He forced 4 fumbles and had over 10 sacks in the last two years while playing linebacker.  So this guy is pretty versatile and makes impact plays.

But how about those 9 career interceptions NFL scouts?  Don’t tell me that is not a safety I see in the field!

Well, scouts counter that by mentioning Cravens’ lack of speed.  In fact he is not expected to run a very fast 40 yard dash at the combine.

But then again, if Cravens runs a fast 40, I wonder if the Cravens at safety talk picks up?

sua Cravens2

I expect Cravens to be picked int he first two rounds of the NFL draft.  There is even some talk he may go in the first round, but it’s too early to know.

What I do know is that Su’a Cravens reminds me of one of the pesky Belusian Gopher Flies.  That son of a bitch will pick it off and take it back for a touchdown! That’s his alien weapon of destruction!

CravensGopher

You can watch his highlights here to see what I mean

D, of course Gase went to Fox and said I really like the way this guy does this and that etc.

  2. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Miller will certainly command a higher salary than Forte. Miller is 24, and on the way up with very low mileage, while Forte is on the way down of a very good career. He may get $3M per on the low side, or $4M per on the high side, but I’d bet on $3M or lower, 2 YR contract

    • D's avatar D says:

I was thinking right about the same range 3.5-4mil per, 2 year contract

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s possibly what Miller gets per year on a longer deal but that’s not that big of a deal. I would not go older RB in any case. Forte is only gonna take low on a team he thinks he could win a championship with, like maybe SEA with Lynch retiring. He was making $7.6M per year.

  3. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

D, Drake is said to be poor at blocking, picking up the blitz, and leading Manziel down the wrong path. 😉

    • D's avatar D says:

He’s a fucking awesome receiving back though. I dont know that i have heard any knocks on him in pass pro but i think he would be for sure awesome weapon and could take over return duties and save Landry

  4. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

30 NFL teams after seeing the 2 that went to the Super Bowl, will all be trying to get good RB’s, establish a stout running game, and build a stingy defense.

Rumors are that Andrew Luck’s new deal is going to be close to the 10 year range and $100M guaranteed. Crazy!

    • D's avatar D says:

      10 year….no way

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

That’s just plain stupid. He’s not all that better than Tannehill. If Indy does that, then they will put themselves in a hole & Luck will never see a Ring…..smh

      • D's avatar D says:

After last yar there would be bo sort of deal to lock him in for 10 years. Hell id use the Dolphins model of give me an out after 2016 (or in his case 2017) if he doesnt turn it around.

I think Miller is going to be going for about 6-6.5 a year and i think someone is going to give him at least 6.

    • D's avatar D says:

Also i think familiarity with the system as in he knows how he will be used in Gase’s system might be a draw. I think it is liely he will look to get a championship, that is a draw for the aging players but i dont think its anywhere near outside the real of possibility he could wind up here. I mean i know why you are against him coming here Tim but you seem very defensive of even the notion it could happen and Miller wont be back.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’d probably let him walk at that.

  8. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

NFL draft insider Tony Pauline reports Florida State DB Jalen Ramsey is the No. 1 overall player on the Cowboys’ draft board.
The Cowboys have draft-board leaks seemingly every offseason. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds by the Seminoles, 21-year-old Ramsey profiles similarly to Antrel Rolle as a corner-safety hybrid with an affinity for run support. The Cowboys draft at No. 4 overall and have a legitimate chance at Ramsey, though he will also intrigue the Titans at 1, Browns at 2, and Chargers at 3.

  9. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

D, I’d be very angry if Miller walks. Gase has a good core of yutes to work with, and a 5yr contract for himself.

  10. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

I think Miller’s going to get $5-6M per in his contract. I’d be surprised if it’s any less.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If it starts to get into the $6M+ per range I’d probably let him walk. I think $4-5 is about right. The backs that make that or more have already had monster seasons. You know I like Miller but he has never had a monster or pro bowl type season.

  11. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I said 10 year ‘range’ with Luck. He’s not a UFA until next year so let’s say they give him a 7-8 year extension, that’s in the 10 year range. The Colts have said the contract is going to be shocking.

GD, most people around the league think much more highly of Luck than RT. You may not agree with them but they do. People I know when mentioning RT always have a hesitation about him yet most think Luck is the real deal.

  12. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    I’d give Miller a 5yr $28M deal.with $8M guaranteed, $4M of that in a signing bonus.

  13. D's avatar D says:

There are lots of guys this year have potential to develop into studs, but i dont know we would see beastly rushing stats out of them year 1. We would probably get some ST contributions and maybe be able to hope for 7-800 yards rushing. Kenyan Drake, Alex Collins (who is a Miami area native btw), CJ Prosise, Kenneth Dixon, Jordan Howard, Kelvin Taylor, etc all will probably fall somewhere between 3rd round and 5th round. There are definitely some potential rookie year 1k backs in the draft but i dont think we can afford to spend a 2nd or higher on them. RB class this year is pretty talented and decently heavy.

  14. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ah, I just missed D’s post saying basically the same thing, although he was a bit higher. Regardless, I don’t know why people think Miller is only getting $3-4M per year.

Me too thats why im predicting we wont sign him. He’s good man, there will be a team in a different place cap wise and with less needs in other areas that will offer him that much, and i think he would deserve it. We cant afford that though.

And GDP, it takes him accepting it for it to happen, would you really turn down the security of extra money if you were in his place? I wouldnt. Its unfortunately a business on both sides and its rare in business that the lure of money, especially when you are talking millons of dollars difference, to turn it down.

Could it happen, sure, especially with that team and that coo coo owner. He like doing shit thats flash and draws media attention even if its not a sound business decision. Again, i personally dont see that being a smart move, unless of couse like with Tanny’s deal it comes with a 2 year walk away out.

That’s true, but it seems like we all here think he’s capable if he gets the opportunity. I bet there are a few teams that think that way as well, and that’s all it takes to get that money up there to the $6M per

You only have to look at his tape to see the potential. I think a lot know he was stunted in his ability to get more because of the lack of touches and poor play calling. I mean the shit with out team wasnt even a head scratcher as in a “i just dont under stand why this keeps happening”, any moron off the street could see it. You telling me the the Boys wouldnt give him 6mil knowing that behind that line he would go from a 1k back to a 1.5k at least…. I dunno i see several teams out there that i think are just waiting to make him an offer he cant refuse. Im beginning to wonder which of us actually think he is good, you chincy guys with your “he will take 4mil per” guys or us who realistically know he can get more than that.

I thought for sure he was going to return next year. I guess it was better for him to strike while irons hot. He got a good chance to showcase his talent while Roc Thompson was out and pretty my held the job even after he came back, next year though Roc is likely to regain the job and he wouldnt have as much to carry him into the draft. He may go undrafted, which would make it an even better pickup,

Senior Bowl wasnt great for Wentz, people kept trying to make excuses for him, said he played through some injuries and thats why he didnt have zip on the ball but im telling you those throws were perfect on the money, he has a good eye for the passing window, but he floats his passes. 31. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

It’s hard to believe the 10 yr 100 mill talk because the media often reports ‘guaranteed’ incorrectly. You often see $ that become guaranteed in the future (if rostered by a specific day) get included in the ‘guaranteed’ talk but those are clearly not guarantees.
The only true guarantee is the signing bonus because in theory, you could sign a guy before the new league year, and waive him and not be on the hook for the base salary in YR 1 LOL. However, that is just a theoretical exercise as nobody would ever do that unless somehow a guy dies between the time he signs the deal and the new year starts. Even then, insurance kicks in to pay 90% or if not all of the deal.

Also keep in mind with respect to Miller that most contracts start with a framework of total guarantees (bonus + realistically year 1 and year 2 base). From there, you can make up whatever you want as to what happens in YR 3 or 4 and beyond. This is just contract fluff which gets headlines when media announces ‘total numbers’.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think the idea it to get Luck signed up for his career. Like you it’s about the guaranteed money. What does he care what he makes right away, He knows he’s getting paid and he’s still going to make good money in salary. His team needs money to protect him and build a team around him. Once they have that in place and they’re good everyone is happy.

  32. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

At this point, if some information leak is saying that the Cowboys have Ramsey on top of their draft board it means that the Cowboys don’t have Ramsey at the top of their board LOL :).

    ————————————–
It might be the latter Al because i have been reading up from information some of it from Cowboy boards and CB seems like the most likely pick for them and Ramsey is the topic of most the wish lists. It could be like here though where the fans have definite ideas of how the picks are going to be used and the organization has a completely different idea, but DB surely makes the most sense for them.

Early rumors are the Cowboys could trade up to land one of the QBs. It’s being rumored two QBs could go 1 and 2. TEN trades down.

And 10 mill per year for Luck isn’t bad; an elite QB is up for 20 mill per so whether its 10 x 10 or 20 x 5 or whatever, it’s the same shit. The longer the year though the less guaranteed for sure.

  43. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

    Tim,
Yea, i was just saying though is that the media often misinterprets what is guaranteed because the agents and such make it confusing on purpose to make people think they are bringing real gaurantees to the table (helps to recruit clients).

  44. D's avatar D says:

Hmm i wonder, if the Bill do cut Williams (as i said previously he is really the only guy they can cut to get any sort of decent cap relief), would you pick him up for Wake money? Cut Wake and pay Williams about what Wake was getting in a per year amount. Then you can move DE down a little in priority in the draft and just get a complementary player on the other side, focus more on the DB/LB’s in the draft.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think Williams wants out too. He’s not a fan of Rex’s defense. Wake coming off an Achilles and a couple of years older. I’d probably look into it.

  45. D's avatar D says:

Im not sure id want to replace broken with broken but Ryan Clady is supposedly a target for being cut. Matt Kalil too. Kalil hasnt played particularly well the past year or two but he was pretty awesome his first 2.

Zane Beadles is said to be a target for the Jags to make some cap room.

Kyle Williams potential cut for the Bills, not a fit for Ryan either, im not sure id want him though.

Rey Maualuga might get cut, depending on how desperate the Bengals get for space.

The ultimate scat back, Sproles may also be out the door in Philly.

If half of these rumors are true this is going to be a talent rich off season.

  46. D's avatar D says:

Suprised more cuts haven’t started rolling in. Teams may be needing to wait until first day of NFL operations before they can do some because of guaranteed money. What date you cut on really pushes cap hits around so some have to wait to be done at certain times.

  47. D's avatar D says:

Look at this description for Jake McGee.

    ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Hands for days. Uses every bit of his catch radius and has elite concentration. Can adjust and catch it high, low or behind him with hands like a shortstop. Former high school quarterback who recognizes when he’s hot receiver against blitz and opens quickly. Scouts rave about his outgoing personality and ability to bring locker room together. Considered great teammate who leads by example. Used frequently as a move blocker in Florida offense and has tools to improve in that area. Has acceleration on crossing routes to separate from safeties and linebackers.

WEAKNESSES Drifts into out-breaking routes giving his intentions away to eager defenders. Needs to work on separation tactics and tightening up his underneath routes. Inconsistent run blocker. Ducks head into contact and fails to make consistently squared contact. Missing play strength to scrap it out and win the edge battle in running game. Duck-footed grass-pounder when getting into routes from three-point stance. Six-year collegian who is already 24 years old. Failed to log a catch of 20-plus yards during 2015 season.

    NFL COMPARISON Maxx Williams

BOTTOM LINE McGee probably won’t blow the combine away with athletic traits, but he has quality play speed in his routes and hands like a gold glove shortstop. Like Maxx Williams in Baltimore, McGee will need time to improve his routes and run blocking before he should be expected to log significant snaps but he has starter’s potential.
    ———————————————–
I admit the guy has great hands, and he catches anything in his areas. I also like the comparison they gave and feel its pretty accurate. I think he is a little better in run blocking than given credit for and the lack of 20 yard receptions is on the QB’s as there was only half a year where they really had anyone that could get it to him.

  48. D's avatar D says:

Mike E, lol check this out and look particularly at the comparison they give.

    OVERVIEW
Three years ago, the Razorbacks were delighted to have a legacy recruit in their backyard (Little Rock), who just happened to be one of the top tight end prospects in the country. His father, Mark, played offensive tackle for Arkansas from 1988 to 1991, serving as a team captain his senior year. Hunter didn’t make it to his senior year, however, choosing to enter the 2016 NFL Draft after a spectacular junior season where he won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end and garnered consensus first team All-American honors. The first-team All-SEC pick by league coaches and media had 51 catches for 739 yards and three scores on the year. This production wasn’t out of the blue, given his recruiting status and production as a sophomore (37-513, two touchdowns receiving) and a true freshman in 2013 (28-409, four scores despite fighting issues in both knees).

    ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS Flat-running stud as a run blocker and a big part of Arkansas’ running game success. Strikes into the frame of defenders with inside hands and blocks with a wide, strong base. Able to turn outside linebackers and cornerbacks out of their run fits and sustains his blocks as long as he can. Had no drops and 51 catches this season. Able to secure contested catches and eminent hits won’t scare him away from the catch. Able to work all three levels as a go-to target. Too talented to be covered by most linebackers. Able to run a variety of routes and has no reason to leave the field.

WEAKNESSES Don’t need much space for this section. Can get a little grabby as a run blocker and was penalized for three holding calls in 2015. Is a little upright into his breaks with rounded turns over sharp cuts. Is a little labored when adjusting his routes to traffic.

    NFL COMPARISON Jason Witten

BOTTOM LINE By the far, the premier tight end in the 2016 draft. Henry is a big body with the athleticism to get open, the hands to finish catches in traffic and the blocking ability to help give a running game the additional kick it might be missing on the edge. Henry should come in and become a very good NFL starter.
    ————————————————————–
Lol love the weakness section, wont need much space for this section

  49. D's avatar D says:

Tyler Higbee… Wondering if those of you that love him hate cameron cause this site says they are pretty much same guy 🙂

    ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Former wide receiver with a smooth, wide-open gait when he hits top gear. Has big hands. Had just one drop this season and showed ability to recover the catch when he juggled a throw. Becomes a body catcher who can protect the ball in traffic. Willing to work middle of the field and take hits. Quick and slippery off line of scrimmage and into routes. Very good acceleration out of his breaks and can be a tough cover for safeties. Has the speed and toughness to work all three levels of the field. Can own the Y-seam with his vertical speed and hands. Immediately opens and looks for expedited throws when he’s over the top of inside linebackers. Has frame for more muscle mass. Extremely competitive after the catch with speed, elusiveness and decent power. Can carry body tacklers after the catch.

WEAKNESSES Still has work to do filling out his frame. Slow to adjust to blocking assignment during flow of play. Not powerful enough yet to handle NFL edge power as inline blocker. Doesn’t run feet through block to sustain. Upright into his breaks. Needs route polish for underneath routes. Can get better at creating additional leverage through crisper routes. Suffered through a knee sprain that cost him four games before re-aggravating it in Conference USA Championship Game. Missed his bowl game and expected to miss Senior Bowl because of it.

    NFL COMPARISON Jordan Cameron

BOTTOM LINE Knee injury basically took six games away from him this season which could cause him to fly under the radar a little bit. Higbee has exciting athleticism and speed in the open field with the ability to separate from safeties on intermediate routes and threaten the deep middle. Higbee has soft, reliable hands and plus run-after-catch ability to finish plays. While he needs to beef up his frame and blocking ability, there is no doubting his pass catching talent.

  50. D's avatar D says:

Have been starting to like this guy some recently, and i guess i know why now. Comparison to Wes Saxton and i really likes Saxton as a later round guy for us last year.

    ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Fluid, graceful gait with long, easy strides. Has short area movement like a basketball player. Nightmare matchup for linebackers with his whip routes and whip counters underneath. Has legitimate separation quickness. Raw, but moldable athlete. Gets off the snap and into his routes in a hurry. Can stop and open up with suddenness. Physical runner after the catch. Poor quarterback play slighted his true production potential.

WEAKNESSES Has lean frame that screams wide receiver over tight end. Not close to possessing the play strength needed to block on NFL level. Head ducker into contact and allows hands to spray wide of defenders framework. Route work was extremely limited and will require extended work on next level. Hands are suspect. Had issues with double catches and scouts question toughness to secure throws with looming safety nearby.

    NFL COMPARISON Wes Saxton

BOTTOM LINE Intriguing vertical potential as matchup-based tight end, but his lack of play strength and route running experience could make him a long-term project if he is ever to become a true NFL contributor.

    • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

I agree that he can own the seam, but he’s not the above the rim player Cameron was. That said he has superior hands to Cameron and catches on contact much better. Stylistically his catch point & physicality competing for the ball is similar to Gronk & Eifert. He doesn’t steam roll people like Gronk but he creates seperation by using his length to shield off defenders.

    ——————————————
this is first time i have gone to NFL.com to look at their scouting notes. I usually wait until closer to combine and most the time i just want to see if we see the same things, not necessarily taking their perspectives as gold but i do like the comparison sections and i do take what they say and go back to films i have watched and see if i agree, or if i missed something. Sometimes i find out they dont look particularly good in run blocking for example, sometimes i just re-affirm the way i feel about them but it just helps give a different perspective in the end.

I gave up on their profiles when I saw how lazy their comparisons had become over the last couple of years.

      • D's avatar D says:

They get a little lazy, like for Hargreaves they compared him to Joe Haden, so i think thats just because its another great CB from UF and not so much that that is the closest comparison. In there defense of that one i do see a lot of Hadens aggressiveness, instincts and ability to jump a route in Hargreaves, but is that the only comparison that can be made, is it the closest, probably not. He reminds me a lot of a young Revis too, same general reasons.

  56. HELL YEAH!
and I did it all by myself 🙂

  57. D's avatar D says:

There is another guy Bryce Williams i am liking as well. He has good hands as well but i think he has a little more development in the blocking game, he doesnt show great technique for blocking but he could pick that up. He is a tough receiver though, fights for the ball, will do what he needs to to make the catch.

She calls our doc yesterday and she says you need Tamiflu, which based on what I read is important to start taking as early as possible. Doc’s assistant says script is on it’s way.

I show up at CVS yesterday…….Nope. Call today and say, “why not”? Answer is, “cause we didn’t have the pharmacy’s number.” But they had OURS……how hard to just call us for it?

This morn confirm they do have the pharmacy number and that the doc has authorized and am promised it will be phoned in (and we are only talking a phone call) by three. Show up at closing to pick up……Nope.

I always use them post combine, but I think I realized that they scout the prospects before the combine a couple of years ago. Just like any scouting service, they’re not perfect, but they certainly know the NFL pretty well, so I think their comparison are usually pretty good, and I also like that they get commentary from real NFL personnel, either GM’s or scouts, or coaches. I think that’s cool.

We talk about guys like Cameron and say yeah he’s gone, because his production wasn’t what it should’ve been last yr. What I’d do is ask RT and see how he feels about him, before I cut him, he’s the guy that really knows. How often do FAs excel in their first yr with a new team anyways? I would be not often. We need to see what he can do for another yr, in an offense he can play in.

Sometimes you really need to keep some of these guys that can make a great play when it’s needed with the game on the line, otherwise you have a team full of hacks like the Lakers, that can’t make a play at crunch time to save their ass. Brandon Marshall has that kind of talent too, and we let him walk for little compensation.

Last yr was doomed from the start, because of too much turnover, without a leader that knew how to deal with it.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Lazor didn’t employ the TEs very much. Gase’s history as an OC shows he does. Cameron’s spike to $9.5M this year might be too much though.

My impression is that RT didn’t trust Cameron. I could be way off, but that was my feeling watching them all last year. Cameron never seemed to make that big catch over the middle, and a few times he dropped them. I started to feel like RT lost confidence in him.

  91. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I just read something interesting, something I didn’t know, but maybe some of you guys knew. If the Dolphins cut Cameron, he’d be a street FA, not an UFA, and SFA’s don’t count against compensatory picks, but UFA’s do. I wasn’t aware of that. Cool fact. In other words, if you sign a player who was released or cut, they don’t count against your compensatory picks.

    • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

That’s correct. If we cut Cameron & he signs elsewhere we get nothing outside of cap room. If Rishard Matthews signs elsewhere he goes into the comp pick formula.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I was thinking more in the lines of the opposite. We need to sign SFA’s, not UFA’s, so we don’t have to get screwed out of compensatory picks.

  92. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mike E, have you read Raymond Fiest? He has several books set in the world of “Midkemia” (a made up world) he is a good read with good character devopment if you haven’t read him you should pick it up. The fist novel is ” magician’s apprentice”

  93. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, yeah if you cut a guy you didn’t lose him to FA because you chose to release him. Cameron is not a UFA, he’s under contract.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I got it. Again, I was thinking we should sign SFA’s rather than UFA’s. This we way we have a shot at getting some compensatory picks. OV, and or MillerTime should help us get one, as long as we don’t sign a UFA to cancel it out.

  96. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I don’t want to sign high priced FA’s at all, I’d like to really cut down on that. It’s the worst way to run a team, by overpaying for top talent. We need to really build through the draft, and stop overpaying for all those high priced FA’s. At least if we sign a SFA, we don’t get penalized though.

    • D's avatar D says:

I think there is a place for doing it. It really depends on your team but if you have a major building block hole, like we pretty much did at DT,or possibly what we have at DE/OG this year, then i think its smart to fill that spot with a top guy from FA who has a pattern of NFL success. You just have to be smart with it and get the right guy. Glenn in FA i think would be a + for us, but again a lot of that is predicated on the fact i dont see Albert as stable enough to count on for a season. Rarely can you draft a rookie with intention of replacing a starter with the level of confidence you would have with a vet. Another good eample would be replacing Misi or Wake with a guy like Laurinaitis or Williams (if they get cut by their respective teams).

FA is about not going overboard, setting up the contracts to offset big years of the guaranteed money, and not overpaying. If you can manage to do those, i think FA is a fine place to get yourself a strong base to then build off of with draft from that point forward.

I think Suh will start paying out in coming years. I know this year he wasnt the monster we had hoped but he was disruptive and people did have to plan for him. We honestly didnt do good enough to take advantage of it. We were mediocre in so many other areas and we had horrible defensive play-calling and strategies that it muted what he was able to do. I expect to see a good bit more this year.

      • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Smart signings are key. For example targeting a guy like Trumaine Johnson at CB is a long term solution that you might sign at reasonable rate vs some of the bigger name DBs.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m not saying sign high priced FAs. I just said coordinating what designation they are is kind of complicated when adding talent at any value.
