Jordan Lucas
Strengths Team captain and three-year starter. Played cornerback two years before moving to safety this year. Praised for his character and leadership. Doesn’t need much runway to hit his burst gear to close. Plays with smooth feet and change of direction for the safety spot. Takes smart angles to the ball and rarely runs himself out of a play. Lined up over slots in sub-packages.

Here’s my point :
We traded down a mere four spots to get in front of three teams, two of which nabbed a CB in the first round and one of those inked a FA CB to a huge deal this offseason, in exchange for a fourth rounder, which caused us to:
trade a 3rd and a 4th next year for this years 3rd and 6th.
We traded a 5th round pick to the kings of our division for two 6ths and a seventh. They in turn traded it for a fourth.Even though we are stockpiling picks in the 6th and 7th rounds, we are not getting good value for them.
That’s been my point all along as well. There is a difference between picking good players and picking good players at the right spot. Wasting picks just isn’t smart. There is no value in waste.

Okay, I don’t view it that way. Future trades you always take the hit, it’s always been that way. You drop a grade. It’s how you approach an offseason to retool your team for your new HC and staff. The personnel we acquire is more important to me than the picks. If that doesn’t pan out you lose.
Leaving Jelani Jenkins, Dion Sims and possibly Dion Jordan from a draft that was only 3 years ago.

OK, just got caught up with day 3. For a while I was wondering if we were actually going to make a pick today. With that said, both round 6 picks seem like solid choices.
I just hope they are right about our front 7 on defense. If not, we might need to score 30+ points a game just for a chance to win.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that NFL teams actual boards are going to look a lot different than Kiper’s or CBS or any outsider so what we perceive a player to be may be completely different for a team. We say 7th while they might say 5th. You are what your draft spot says you are.

McCain is the shorter quick twitch slot corner for us. I think Thomas is also going to play more nickel slot than safety, he’s better in that role.

All signs point to we feel Hewitt and Vigil are legit. Alonso, Jenkins, Misi and them. Alonso replaces Sheppard. Paysinger may hang on for STs and a backup role. Maybe Hull too.
Our DL is going to be asked to blow up blocking assignments and let the LBs clean up. All five have good instincts. They need to stay healthy.
