Alright Suh didn’t catapult the Fins into the playoffs last year and the Defense as a whole had it’s problems but I’m going to do with Suh what the Tannehill crowd does with him. I expect Coach Gase and his staff to truly understand the player they have and to use him to their fullest advantage. Let the beast feed – feed the beast.
If I were the coaching staff I would intentionally piss Suh off every game day. Move his locker to a different spot every week. Don’t have his uniform ready and waiting for him. Perhaps a wet-willy, maybe a pink belly, noogie, tie his shoelaces together or the old hot foot.

JUST GOT HOME from watching “MONEY MADNESS,” starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Those of you who’ve ever watched Jim Cramer’s “Mad Money” no doubt will get a big charge out of this one. Soooo, I see the fest day is selected. I am going to do my damnedest to be there. I’m going to make my air reservations, but with a refundable option just in case. I’m not going to go into it, but having some issues with my just turned 12 year old son…..maybe things will be better by the time the fest rolls around. I looked at the Denver and Chicago offenses and it looks like Gase likes to run the ball a good amount of times whether every run play is successful or not. We ran the ball 177x in the first hlf and 167x in the 2nd hlf last season. We also ran it almost an even amount from qtr to qtr. However, we weren’t as successful running it in the 2nd half as the 1st half only getting 3.8ypc vs 4.9ypc.
That being said, it wasn’t that we abandoned the run but we didn’t run it enough .We need to run the ball 28-30x a game IMO and from what I see from Gase in Denver and Chicago I think we will. So, that’s one thing I think is good about the prospects for the team this year.
2nd, I think we should have more opportunities to score this year because of our special teams and our starting field position. If both Grant and Drake are returning punts/kicks, respectively, I think we’re going to be in better position to score more often than not because of where we start with the ball.
3rd, I think it’s going to be difficult for opposing defenses to shut us down on offense by taking one guy away on our offense due to the multitude of weapons we’ve got on O. Ithink we’re going to see different guys helping to lead the team on offense each week and I also think Landry’s targets will go down. Landry is a really good player but it makes no sense to target him that much if we’re not moving the ball. So, the level of talent on offense should be to the point where it’s difficult for a defense to game plan against us. A healthy Parker, Stills being used properly and the additions of Drake and Carroo should get us more opportunities to score. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Duarte make some noise.
4th, we’ve upgraded some positions. Williams, despite his age, is a much more aggressive player than OV and should be an upgrade on his side. Branch should be an upgrade to Shelby. The nice thing about both is they also knock the ball down which is something OV never did. We’ve upgraded the depth at DT with Jones and we’ll upgrade the DE even more when we sign the other Jones. We’ve also upgraded the LB position with the addition of Alonso.
The sun did rise up today despite the heat losing. Oh well ,they had a great season even with all the injuries.
Lou, you mentioned deficiencies you noticed in RTs game while looking at all the offensive plays from last year. What can you tell me about how he goes through his progressions? What I’m getting at is, if he can’t read his progressions properly, then is it a moot point to use 5 WRs, making Grant and Carroo useless?

I don’t put much faith in what the players publically say about a coach.
As long as a coach isn’t a complete tool, players will say nice things about a guy.
Aaron Rodgers would always complement Philbin when asked about him saying crap like “he played a big role in developing me” type of shit.
It would have been nice also if the Broncos hadn’t ranked 2nd in the NFL in offensive points scored under OC Mike McCoy the year before Gase took over. The 2013 YR output in Denver by the offense was amazing (record setting) but looking at perhaps an anomoly since in 2014 they went back to the 2012 output experienced under Mike McCoy as OC.
The Bears offense didn’t improve in terms of points scored under Gase. The only noticeable is the reduction in Cutler’s INT ratio under Gase.
Looking at Mike McCoy’s work in SD, I’m hoping Gase can do better than that because right now, that’s the only comparison that exists (they are both now HC after having worked in a high powered offense in Denver; though Gase took a slight longer route having spent time in Chicago trying to fix their offense).
I at least put take something when the smartest QB I’ve seen says a coach is the smartest guy he has ever met. Now Gase might be a huffer who can never look anyone in the eye, but I am at least going to assume he is smart. Did you read the one profile I put out of him I put out a couple days ago? He’s like a child football protegy. Was involved in coaching his high school team and as a frosh at Michigan State.
You make good points on the comparison to years past, but guy does get a lot of respect and was the hot young coach available for a reason. Not like the Bears were in the Superbowl either.

Al, Freeney had a good year in 2015 with the Cards, which boasts a real good defense & secondary. But he wasn’t much the couple previous years to that in SD & his last year in Indy.
Not sure he fits the mold we’re looking for.
Besides, why did the Cards let him walk if they didn’t think they could do better at that position?
In fairness, Freeney was in a 3-4 @ Zona after most of his career being in a 4-3.
Maybe VJ will get Grier to let Dwight come here to compete & show off his infamous ‘Spin Move’.
