Why not bring up Douglas right now as well, and put him at OG. He doesnt cut it, you can cut him too.
Well i just read Tim’s statement so maybe not lol.
See above and below you. LOL
LOL
Jamil Douglas also cut
Piggy,
The Bradford situation was not a normal one. That sort of situation rarely happens. Speilman even said that he only did it because he felt he had to. People were asking for a 1st round pick AND Stefan Diggs…their top receiver. Teams were looking to take advantage of the situation, and philly did…in part because they had Wentz in the wings. It was a perfect storm. I get your point that anything can happen, but I don’t think that particular trade is the norm.
It’s definitely not the norm.
What you are calling “not a normal one” is basically an annual event in the NFL
QB desperation is not some sort of NFL Haley’s Comet that only comes around when Teddy Bridgewater is injured. It is basically what the NFL is: Teams with QBs and teams desperate for QBs.
Maybe they move Bushrod to LG.
If someone gives us a 1st round pick for Tannehill straight up, I will eat my hat….with a little mustard on it. Lol
It might be very hard to digest. LOL

LOL,
Id eat it without the mustard. I doubt it happens, but i have seen crazier shit, especially with Cleveland in the situation they are in and having the luxury of a second first round pick at their disposal.
The browns know what Tanny is all about, since they just played us. They would never do the trade.
Randy
I get to pick the hat right
If we traded Tannehill last offseason
I would have found it hard to believe he wouldn’t fetch a first rounder
Right now his stock must be dropping
I don’t think that’s the direction the team is going in anyway. We just cut 3 OL.
Also a bunch of people know that we have to make a cut type decision on him by start of league year in march 2017. Thats going to hurt us. Cleveland is our best match for a trade that would end up with a first, and basically that isnt going to happen unless they feel like Tanny is a better option for them than any of the picks in 2017.
Its funny these guys just decided to cut turner and thomas. Did they not watch film of previous years games in the offseason? I could have told them that those 2 were trash 2 offseasons ago.
So far same shit different year with this FO and coaching staff.
Gase said everyone started off with a clean slate this year. He’s now seen enough. You should be encouraged by it, not critical of it.
So basically he’s saying that this year is throw out year so he can evaluate the talent on this team. I’m critical because teams like philliy with a new coach hit the ground running while we have to throw a year out for our new coach to figure out his players. SMH
The broncos started lynch in place of simian with the same oline. Lynch got sacked 6 times against the falcons. The QB matters when you look at oline play.
That has nothing to do with our OL though.
You don’t know that. I’m saying the oline could be great and tanny will still suck behind it because he’s a statue and holds on to the ball too long.
Agree. I’m pretty sure Matt may not be as effective in the completion department as RT but he sure isn’t going to lose field position like RT. I can assure you the sack rate will go down with Moore at the helm.
I doubt it. I remember when Moore had to come into the game for a few plays a year or two ago he was sacked on his first pass attempt. LOL
I agree. I think moore can get us more wins this year than tanny.
This is just the beginning (cuts)
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/76rx9i/picture100978502/ALTERNATES/FREE_640/FINS0816%20GASE%20CTJ
if they trade tanny they should make sure it isnt to a team they play next year. we all know if they play against him he will go 50-50 750 yards and 9tds.
LOL but True!
Like Duhtey Colepepper’s one good game after we cut him.
Boulder, it’s hard to really know anything that hasn’t happened. I just don’t think Moore changes anything.
I think we should adjust our defensive scheme a little bit. Keep the wide nine, but insert a NT in the middle of the line and run it as a 5-2. On passing downs run it as a 5-1 with 5 DB’s!

so you are saying moore can help the team get a mid to late first round draft pick. aaaahhh no thanks
LOL exactly what I’m saying. Moore winning is what got us out of the Luck Derby
BTW Tanny can only hurt his trade value by playing 🙂
I think we should just forfeit games Albert doesn’t play
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly 2h2 hours ago
In the two games Branden Albert has missed this season the Dolphins have allowed 11 sacks. ELEVEN. Guess he’s overrated.
Part of it is that Turner replaced Tunsil created the void.
At the guard position.

lol, that was against Buffalo in the 2nd half i believe.
He just started slinging it…. Fins had a 50 yarder i think but then the INT came cause the Bills knew Matt had to throw on eveyr down.
Reid Fragel is still available as for OT’s. OG’s Ducasse, Cyril Richardson, Louis Vasquez, Geoff Schwartz, Willie Colon, Reese Dismukes who is OG/OC guy, Jake Brendel, Barrett Jones who played next to Steen and is probably just as good if he is healthy.
Some of these guys can’t be worse than Turner.
Boulder
It’s obviously not the same shit, they’re getting rid of the same shit that’s been here. You should be pleased.
I’m not pleased with how this year has played out. This a little too late. Anyone watching game tapes of the last couple of years should have cut these 2. Giving everyone a clean slate is dumb. That’s why they have game tapes so you don’t have to do that.
I guess they wanted to see if they were passable in their system, with their instruction, and they found they aren’t, so now they’re cutting them. I still give them props for finally cutting the dead weight.
No one thinks Albert is overrated, everyone knows he is great and gives a solid anchor to the OL, its just the dependability that most of us worry about. He stays hurt and when he is hurt….we obviously hurt.
Yep, that’s how I’ve felt all along. Very good player, but he’s not dependable enough to be on the field all the time anymore.
That’s the main reason KC let him walk IMO.
Rock,
I like it…5-2 baby.
If you have 3 crappy LB, just leave only 2 out there
Didn’t we try that last year under Campbell?
6-2 Stack Monster!
I think they were forced to in the first game against the Patriots after a few injuries in 2014 in the opener.
So what’s going to happen now at LG if Tunsil isn’t healthy.
I wonder if the team has the balls to go with the future and that is Albert inside with Tunsil outside.
Anyone remember what movie that was? (6-2 STACK MONSTER!)
I can’t argue that Thomas, Douglas and Turner played well
but its pure bullshit
You didn’t know who these guys were in the offseason?
Not impressed at all
That’s what someone just said in the comments section of Mando’s blog entry…
“Bob Dziadik
They should have been released before this. Another questionable thing by Adam Gase”
Totally disagree. That’s just more pile on BS.
Gase probably said to the FO I’m never playing them again so we probably need to open up some spots for new depth.
They gave them a shot and they didn’t take advantage of it. None of them were starters this year until we had injuries and they failed miserably when called on. Thomas wasn’t even active most weeks until this week. Douglas was on the PS and only called up for depth once and then cut and back on the PS. They gave Turner a chance at RG, RT and LT and he didn’t play well. I’m glad the coaches are not fucking around with the same crap for too long.
Tim,
Different guys but benching isn’t the worst thing for RT.
http://www.espn.com/blog/new-orleans-saints/post/_/id/19507/drew-brees-recalls-game-that-saved-his-job-catapulted-career
I’m not against it.
I dont think it would be the worst thing for either us or him. I dont necessarily think id roll Moore out there, id keep Moore free from injury to be our backup, but id roll Doughty out there see what we got and how he handles the speed of the game. If he does well give him more time if he struggles, then back to Tanny after a much needed break.

Necessary Roughness? I have no idea
All The Right Moves, one of Tom Cruise’s first movies. Not sure, maybe even was his first movie
I think Adding Barrett Jones and Louis Vasquez would be pretty solid to replace Turner/Thomas.
When parcells took over he didn’t need 5 games to figure out which player/coaches stick which ones go. After watching tapes, he purged the shit out of the roster and front office before the 08 seasons FA and we went to the playoffs.
By the time these guys figure out the roster we’ll be looking for a new coaching staff and FO.
I think they have to make their decisions THIS year. I think next year if we arent drafting another guy to run the offense, or having the right personnel for what they want to do on defense, then they ill be too far behind to get things right by year 3-4 which is going to be their cutoff im sure. They tried the method of going with what they had, it didnt work, time to move on.
exactly
its a big fucking experiment with them
What is wrong is wrong this team
amateur hour
How do they not know who these guys are until now?
And to make matters worse, they are going to cut Turner, a guy playing out of position, on the fly bc Tunsil was injured in pregame
Are you fucking kidding me
this fucking team is unprofessional
Really? I didn’t expect these responses at all.
I’m shocked by the responses to getting rid of the shit OL depth. I guess once you’re down on the team nothing they do is the right thing to do.
The time to get rid of the trash is in the offseason. Does it matter right now to get rid of these guys or wait until end of year? We’ll suck no matter what.
Yes I’m pissed that Gase and the rest didn’t get that these guys were trash last summer and found proper replacements BEFORE the season started. Now that we’re out of the playoffs for the 8th year in a row it doesn’t make any difference if they’re cut now or in january.
Its a good point. I think they just tried to go with what they had, it didnt work so they are doing it now. I mean its kinda acknowledging the fuck up and correcting it.
Im good with the cut, whatcha’ talkin’ ’bout Willis…..
D,
Not sure what the deal is with Doughty but the coaches don’t feel comfortable with his unpredictability (at least that’s what I think they think of him when they wonder how he completes passes). I think Doughty would throw more INT than Moore.
Im good with him getting bumps and bruises (figuratively and literally) in the learning process. I think its good they are still thinking about winning, but i also think its foolish. Hell you just hacked out most every OG on your team lol, how good can you think we are if you are willing to do that mid season, and if you think we are bad enough to do that, why arent we bad enough to try to use the rest of this season preparing for the next?
I’m good with the cuts too. You have depth guys, and you see if maybe you can get to them to the point that they can be passable when you need them. Apparently, they couldn’t, but at least instead of throwing them back out there, they cut them. No problem with that at all.
Yeah I don’t get the vitriol at all.
We suck, we’re 1-4, out of the playoffs again, so nothing we do is going to make some people happy. I get it.
Piggy, Turner had most his experience prior to the NFL at LT, so it should have been more natural for him to play that spot. Problem is he got a chance at OG, failed, he got a chance at RT, failed, he finally got a chance to go back home and he looked about as bad as you can, fail 3 you are out.
you want to wait until 5 games into the season to say “you’re out”?
this is our new standard?
I think this is an isolated circumstance.
The problem isn’t the cuts
its the timing
What the fuck were they looking at before this week?
its too late to change 1-4
Those guys weren’t starters or playing much, they we backups, inactive and PS.
That doesn’t explain not identifying who they were in the offseason
its not advantageous to make moved now
you have a more to choose from if you make moves like this early in the offseason
are these poor performances something that just happened in the Titans game?
These cuts don’t make me think it’s an organizational fuckup because I’ve said all season that Gase and the coaches are still learning this team and who they can trust. So now they’re figuring it out. How else do you do it until they play in games? Like I said earlier, “Gase probably said to the FO I’m never playing them again so we probably need to open up some spots for new depth.”
Good point in your last sentence.
Barry Jackson @flasportsbuzz 34m34 minutes ago
Asked Gase yesterday if it’s simply time to replace players with different ones. Said they would evaluate. Now Thomas, Turner gone.
Tim
Gase should not be learning the team in October
That is just a very low standard for an NFL coach that I can’t get on board with
Happens all the time or players would never be cut in-season.
Why ae the Dolphins the last one to know some one sucks?
All they need to do is read this blog.
lmao
Randy was telling the FO that Tannehill sucked on day 2 of the 2012 draft.
OD has been preaching about drafting an entire new OL for at least 2 offseason
😀
Those guys didn’t get many reps in practice, they’re backups. They probably played the most in the preseason, and maybe they looked OK against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Now, they play in a game, suck, and instead of doing nothing like the last HC did, he made a move and cut them.
Exactly! I don’t get some of the reactions at all.
Herd
If the Dolphins listened to the blog, we’d have nothing left. Mr. T, GONE!, Ross, GONE! Gase, GONE!, Tannehill, GONE! Basically every player but Landry, Tunsil, Carroo, Parker, Reshad Jones, and actually, that might be it. lol
and while we are at it
the logo looks like whale
I know that’s a joke but whale exactly is it that people think the logo resembles because I’m not aware of a whale that looks like that?
LOL
Players get cut in-season all the time. What’s so different about us doing it especially with a new coaching staff?
In fact some of you constantly scour the waiver wire saying “hey so and so and so and so got cut, we should kick the tires on them, I liked them in the draft.” Yet the team they were on let them go.
Obviously the other teams are smarter than ours. 🙂 Maybe they are! lol
You think cutting 3 OL after 1 game is normal?
I’ve seen Belichick cut guys after one poor game many times. Why didn’t he see it earlier? How many times did he cut and re-sign Blount? And Douglas was on the PS. That churns all the time.
I think it’s unusual that they we needed to go that far into our depth, so no, not normal.
Piggy
I think Steen and Urbik were the 2 main backups, but unexpectedly, we need to go much deeper, and they stunk. Not often you have to go 3 or 4 deep in backup OL.
Steen is also hurt so he wasn’t available and Urbik is the backup C.
At the end of the day
if your points are
it doesn’t matter to the season that we cut those 3
I’m in agreement
but I’m not getting why it takes so long to make an evaluation like that
cutting 3 OL after 1 game is pretty drastic
I think Mike had a good reply to that earlier.
Barry Jackson has been pretty neutral up until this year.
He has really put on the full court press on accountability this season.
He wrote this piece yesterday where he took the coaches/FO comments/opinions on the status of their players/positions prior to the season and where the situation is now LOL
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article107251837.html
“Offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen, this past summer: “This is going to be the most depth at tackle I’ve been around. [We] won’t have to open your newspaper and find a left tackle in the classified.”
Actually, he might, if Branden Albert misses another game this season. Putting Billy Turner at left tackle (his position at North Dakota State) proved disastrous Sunday; he allowed three sacks.
▪ Christensen, two weeks ago, on right tackle Ja’Wuan James: “He’s a good player. I think he can be a premier right tackle in this league. The expectations are high on him.”
James allowed two more sacks Sunday and has now given up 5.5 this season.
“To say he’s not good, that’s a little extreme,” Gase said Monday. “If there are 50 plays, he’s having 45 really good plays and… five bad plays. When you’re at tackle, those five bad plays really stick out.”
—–
Okay so it’s done. Sam Young gets another chance at being a depth tackle. We don’t have any OL on the PS but a spot is open with Douglas gone so we need to sign another OL on the 53 and probably one for the PS.
Piggy i dont think this is the standard, its the exception. I think they trie working with what they had and then they decided this wasnt working so they corrected it. I dont think this will become a patter for seasons to come.
A pitter patter? LOL
Actually Belichick did it already this season, see Jonathan Cooper.
There you go. In-season cuts happen all the time.
I think Turner was official, are the other two cuts official now?
Today’s Pigskin @TodaysPigskin
Update: The #Dolphins have also cut RB Isaiah Pead – http://www.todayspigskin.com/pigskin-news/dolphins-cut-linemen-billy-turner-dallas-thomas/ …
2:40 PM – 11 Oct 2016
Will be interesting whom they sign as replacements for all these. Thats 1 PS roster spot and 3 53 spots as of right now.
Well 2 53 spots, since we signed Young already.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000718994/article/koa-misis-neck-injury-might-be-careerthreatening
I know he’s not a fan favorite but I feel bad for him. At the least he always gave good effort. I wish him luck. His health comes first. Neck injuries are serious business.
D, Misi opened up a spot too, did we sign anyone when we put him on IR? That spot could be open for Culliver. He is suppose to be back some time this month.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2016/10/more-cuts-after-dolphins-loss-to-tennessee.html
So here are the recent roster cuts, IR, 53 and PS openings. So 4 spots are open right?
Turner – Young
Thomas – ?
Douglas (PS) – ?
Pead – ?
Misi (IR) – ?
Culliver, Vigil and Jordan on the 53?
but its pure bullshit
You didn’t know who these guys were in the offseason?
Two of them were our starters through most of the off season practices!! (well at guard not tackle & guard)
But not when the season started. They were depth and PS.
Turner was RG and RT and emergency LT obviously and he failed miserably when called on.
Thomas was LG and RG and he failed miserably when called on. (Inactive most weeks)
Douglas was C and G on the PS and only called up once, then cut and put back on PS.
The coaches gave them a shot and they’ve seen enough. Would you rather they keep trying with them?
This isn’t unprecedented. Teams let guys go during the season all the time.
I would rather them coaches cut these ass holes before the season, like real FOs do. now that we’re out of the playoffs I really don’t give a shit if they cut them now or not. Why does it matter now? What does it change?
Why aren’t any defensive players getting cut? I would cut a bunch of these hight priced douches right now like maxwell and williams.
I think if Howard was healthy and Culliver was ready to go Maxwell could very possibly be cut. He was already benched two weeks ago.
Williams hasn’t been bad, just not the Mario we know. He’s gotten his fare share of pressure.
I just think the offense is not the only issue with this team. If they’re cutting players on offense to send a message they really need to do the same with defense. They suck just as much if not more.
How do they not know who these guys are until now?
They did know who the players were. Bench warmers. Break in case of emergency players. Unfortunately for our season they had to put them both in at the same time on the same side of the line in positions they didn’t even practice at during the off season. (Well, did Turner play tackle or guard this week?) Anyway, I THINK one practiced mostly at RG and the other at LG.
That was my point earlier. I hate fucking Ross for hiring these amateurs.
The coaches gave them a shot and they’ve seen enough. Would you rather they keep trying with them?
No.

Wait. What? I thought we were out of the playoffs exclusively because Tannehill sucks. That’s what I’ve read on here…a REAL QB would make this line look good. It is known.
Rock, you cant justify one with the other, or defend one with the other. They are both bad.
Im sorry for Misi as well. Evaluating them as players i dont think are good enough to be starters on my team is a whole hell of a lot different from me not caring about them as people. Just like Tanny, right now i am very much pro us moving on now or by beginning of the league year next year so we can save 18mil towards cap and hopefully start a new chapter. I dont think ill of him as a person, i dont want bad things to happen to him, and id be absolutely happy for him if he caught on elsewhere and had a great career, i just dont think its going to happen here with this team and i think he is holding us back and potentially we are holding him back. There is a big time separation for me between what makes him a good player for us and what makes him a good man. I dont mix and mingle it. There are great people who cant play the game of football and really shitty people who can.
Boulder, this is what happens when you’re a 6-10 team and you start over in the personnel dept. and coaching staff. They purge in the offseason and as they go especially at 1-4.
Would you prefer they keep going with the status quo?
This is also a huge message to other players if you don’t play up to a standard you’re not going to be here.
Cut Pead too. I like this.
Sends a good message and also cleans out the dead wood. We cannot depend on these guys to do their job, so let’s try someone else.
ANYBODY else.
These guys lost games for us all by themselves. A guy just hanging in there would be better than that.
Maxwell will be cut as soon as Culliver can play and maybe sooner if Bene learns the playbook this week.
You cannot allow people to be on your team who give a half-ass effort and / or suck long term.
Oh thank you we signed Benwikere at CB when we put Misi on IR.

I am surprised by the Pead cut. He was our best RB in one or two of the presesason games.
Basically 3 plays. He’s also been hurt and maybe not progressing.

We also added Chimdi Chekwa back at CB so Maxwell has been put on notice.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2016/10/more-cuts-after-dolphins-loss-to-tennessee.html
damn, we cut 3 OL, IR a LB, cut a RB and pick up …at least at this point 2 CB’s. Thats a lot of movement for a team in a week. Id be kinda scared if i was one of the CB on our active roster thats been playing poorly. It looks real bad. I wonder if they are working towards a trade for Maxwell right now.
Who would trade for Maxwell the way he’s been playing? The guy doesn’t even look like he can bend at the hips or knees. He looks really stiff and uninterested. It looks like we’re either looking to motivate him or cut him. But we’d take on huge dead money.
There are plenty of people who need CB’s that would take a shot, im not talking big pay out trade, but i think there would be someone who would trade a 6th or so for him
Tim you hav to think of trades liek someone calling dibs. If you are low on the waiver priority and you need a CB and he is better than some fucking dude off the street, which IMO there has to be someone that sees him that way, then they secure the acquisition just by trading so they dont lose out via waiver priority.
We would be dumb not to try it and they would be dumb not to take it if the asking price wasnt high.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we tried but his cap hit is huge for a currently bad player.
Trading people in season in the NFL proves difficult many times; it’s almost impossible with high salaried players due to how many people are on a roster and how difficult it is to make it all work under the cap. People in most cases are not going to move 3+ guys to make 1 guy work under the cap during a regular season maneuver.
Al, you’re good with contracts. If we cut Maxwell we take on $13.5M in dead money this year. Are we still on the hook for $5M next year?
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/byron-maxwell-7892/
Tim,
Regarding Maxwell’s cap figure, his dead money hit for next season would be $3,000,000.
2016 is not worth talking about because he’s already been paid and everything has already been applied to the current cap.
How do you come up with $3M in 2017? Maybe I don’t understand how dead cap works. It says $5M in 2017.
So if you’re in charge of personnel and can’t stand his effort and want to cut him do you do it now?
I was looking at overthecap’s figures and they have Maxwell’s 2017 dead cap hit at $3 mill but they only show his guaranteed $ at 11.5 total. I think the Fins restructured it to be 13.5 mill guaranteed so if the Fins took 8.5 this year, then there’s 5 mill left in guarantees which is what the dead hit would be if he’s cut before the new year starts.

Thanks for responding, I’m starting to think I wont see him till the season is over. I’ll let you know come Monday what my Me TV is showing
Tim it would be basically same as cutting him this offseason, like a 2017 pre-june 1 cut. We would owe him his guaranteed money, which is 3mil, but we wouldnt owne him any of the rest , like roster bonuses, or whatever. Incidentally he has none of those extra bonuses nexy year, just 8.5 in salary of which 3mil is guaranteed.
I think you were reading it wrong, it says 3mil dead money, 5.5mil in cap savings.
Thanks for the answer but it says $5M in dead cap in 2017.
Isn’t Huarte on the practice squad
Farty of Huarte anyone?
Yes
per mando
“Expect Arian Foster back on the field as early as Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers after he missed the past three games with a hamstring injury. The Dolphins were heavy at running back but had to be that way because Foster wasn’t playing.”
Would you guys cut Maxwell based on performance and reinforcements?
Id cut him based on same principals you cut Thomas and Turner with… not in the future plans of the team. If Gase feels about him like, this guy wont be used in the future, its the same call as you said he made for Thomas or Turner, just with bigger money attached.
That said, im not suggesting we should cut him, im going off the “you are on notice” message you were saying he is being sent.
Tim, look at this site.
http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/miami-dolphins/
Look at the column on the left side that says dead money/cap savings…
The side that says dead money has 3mil in it, the cap saving has 5.5mil….. are you using a different site?
Okay you guys are using a different site. LOL
The team also added center Jake Brendel and OT Terry Poole to the practice squad. Got one of the OC/OG’s i had mentioned id take a chance on earlier. Wish it had been Barrett Jones but oh well.
Sorry should have read “The team also added center Jake Brendel and OT Terry Poole to the practice squad” From Mando article.
Dont want to get accused of plagiarism.
I think it’s a little weird to cut two backups..one, in Turner, who found out right before the game he was gonna start at LT when he had been playing guard most of the year. I wonder if there is more to this behind the scenes. I kinda hope there is. Or, maybe Gase is taking this opportunity to try to send a message to the rest of the team while not taking a huge hit by cutting starters. It seems kinda calculated.
Could be their personalities. I have never seen fire in those two so i wonder if it just makes them look apathetic and he just cut bait when neither of them looked overly passionate bout the stinkfest he spewed all over the field.
I think it’s as simple as the coaches don’t want to spend anymore time on these players. They’ve seen enough. I don’t think the last game was an epiphany, more like the last straw.
yep. there’s a few others that have overstayed their welcome too.
players aren’t stupid. They see right through that.
Boulder,
I think you’re giving players way too much credit. Most of them care about their paycheck first, second and third. Start cutting players, and it usually gets their attention.
just a random thought here … how much do you think Gase is paid this year? also Vance Joseph? and then how much is Tannenbaum paid a year do you think?
I think he is doing what i suggested we needed to do. Improve the bottom of the team so we have enough talent deep that we cna survive a few games without our starters. All great teams have depth, and we have 0. Starters are usually managed through trades if possible, off season cuts, if cost permits, and in season benching. He has already done one of those with Maxwell, ad i feel certain the other two are being pondered right now if not pursued.
LOL I just read where Omar said truth is basd on perspective LMFAO….you have to be kidding me.
Nice to see Vigil is still with us… Last year in the Pre-season I was pushing for him to be the next Zach Thomas. He was always where the Ball went. Problem was he was rarley the guy to make the play.
Experiment time and an extra spot to give the dude another shot…
Boom! Turner and Thomas cut. 51 more to go.
Pead and Douglas too. Boom 49 to go.
I would keep jones and landry. 🙂
Trade Jones and get value for him
Mike E. Sent you an email.. give me a call
If things keep going the way they are I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bushrod join the others on the unemployment line.
Anyone get plans on Sunday? If not you might be starting on OL for the Phins
Bushrod will stay. With all these moves I see a big trade coming. Gase ain’t Effin around now.
Mike
Just sent you an email
Yeah, I dont understand the vitriol either and love this move. How many other coaches kept these worthless guys? I also don’t think you really know how good someone is before the season starts. How could you? They hardly practice anymore. The players got what they wanted…getting paid while doing less to get paid.
Turner and Thomas set the tone. You either do the basics well, or someone else might. These are lifelong backups. Who really cares they are gone? I’d much rather bring in new talent that may stick. This year is an experiment on who is worth keeping. Nothing else. I think Gase still doesn’t know if Tannehill is worth keeping either and he needs a solid OL to find out. Maybe we get one before the year is over.
I love the move too just 49 more moves to make
Lol, close. I would keep Jones, Alonso, Howard, Landry, any draft picks that don’t cost much and that’s about it. Maybe Suh just because he’d be hard to unload. We don’t have any FAs that make any damn dent except Suh, Jones,….missing anyone lol?
I think you can trade Jones. Ditch Suh his contract will be an albatross for this organization. Alonzo – really?
Yeah, Im liking Alonso. Maybe not big enough to be in the middle but he’s got talent. 5 games, 50 tackles? Im glad we have someone that actually knows how to tackle on this team.
I don’t think a coach should be experimenting after 5 games
Its not that the guys they cut were good
its that they didn’t identify that they were bad enough to cut until 5 games were already played
Blow up the coach and the FO too
I still think it’s hard to evaluate players now that they can’t practice in pads much. These were backups. He did realise they weren’t good enough to start and that’s why we got Bushrod. Not being good enough to be a backup may have been harder to surmise.
I don’t think he’s experimenting.. I think he knew that we were talent deprived and he’s weeding out the week when he sees this in game situations. Practicing good is different then game good. Let him build his team.. if you thought we we were a play off team this year I don’t know what to tell you…
Lol Ken is full hulk now
Hulk smash puny inept football team!
Sorry New Age but making 50 tackles 10 yards down the field does nothing for me
If I didn’t read the post above I would have thought you were talking about Misi
Ditto
It’s not experimenting, it’s culture building. The shit we saw on Sunday is not acceptable.
Like you mentioned earlier. Pats got Cooper in the Jones trade and they cut him already. If a guy isn’t pulling his weight they don’t let him hang around. You can’t allow players to slack off and other players to notice because they will do the same. They will think it’s acceptable behavior.
Someone said earlier about guys playing with no emotion and no fire and that’s what we’ve been seeing for some time and it seems that a lot of them were just going thru the motions.
Albert’s on my shit list as well because he talks a lot but he’s not contributing. Could be time to trim the fat there as well when the season is over.
There’s plenty of good offensive linemen who will be available in the next draft. Plus, we’ve got Tunsil who we could move to LT and that may have been the plan all along. Turn Albert loose for the young guy.
Ken err… Hulk wants to prance among the wastelands. Kill Em All!!! LOL
Hulk no prance!
LOL
There are only 3 players this team should be targeting in the first round next year:
1. Myles Garett
2. Marlon Humphrey
3. Reuben Foster
Let’s get all 3
Just read the news about all the cuts. This is great. Something has to be done to change the culture of this ridiculous team. This season is a complete bust already, so why wait to see if we can turn it around and fight the good fight for a chance at 8-8, which is the only realistic goal we could possibly set for ourselves.
Get rid of the garbage. You are going to replace it with garbage because that is all that is available, but stop letting these players suck on the teat. Coach says, “Ok, you suck, but I’d better see 125% every play, every single second from you.” Maybe we can start playing with fire and intensity, even if we have limited talent. Maybe some people will actually outperform the expectations on them instead of ALWAYS fucking under-performing. THAT is what we need to roll over into next year along with an influx of talent from the offseason (fingers crossed on that of course).
I love that we’re doing this now instead of waiting.
Should have done in camp and pre-season not week 5 but anything that gets these bums off this team is fine with me. Blow it up!

Boy that is the truth. Its been such a long long long time.
Dude .. I just got done jammin that song on my Les Paul with my drummer…
Yup… but pickings are slim at this time of the year. Gase is weeding out the weak and building his team.. He knows this team can’t compete so he’s building a team through next draft and see who’s available as FA’s.. I don’t get how anyone thought we would be a better talent than last year .. we have a lot of positions to get better at.
I was very skeptical going into the year, but my 7-9 pick was clearly still giving them too much credit. Our team is playing like they are worst in the league.
I don’t know about trading Jones. He brings it every week. He hasn’t been perfect but he’s a step above everybody else. I don’t want to trade away one of the only guys living up to his position. I agree, he’ll probably get top 3 money next year, definitely top 5, so I understand that angle. I’d keep him and see if we can unload Suh. Suh is a good player, but he flat out doesn’t impact the game enough for the money he gets paid. I’d rather see two real good DT for the same money you pay Suh.
Problem with Jones is he is looking for a pay day and we are unlikely to invest too much money in him. If we can get decent trade value for him I would pull the trigger. There is really no one on this roster who is worth turning down trade offers for with the exception of Tunsil, Landry and Parker
I mentioned the payday as a possible detraction, but I’d keep him. He’s been our most consistent player on D over the last few years. He doesn’t miss games, he brings intensity every week which is what we want to build on. He’s a good safety that flashes excellence at times.
Cool on the Zep tune. 🙂
Let the HC purge what he deems as inadequate. Who said it’s over? LOL
Cav.. it’s obvious that Gase is seeing a team that needs revamping .. He will continue with the roster changing going forward. I like that he’s making moves and putting people on notice.
It’s absolutely two-fold. Gase has a mindset of what something has to look like. If it doesn’t he tries to fix it. He can’t stand inadequate offense. That’s his baby.
We have a couple of young developing CBs. Maxwell has been pure shite, I would flat out cut him (not sure of cap ramifications and don’t feel like looking, so assuming it makes cap sense). That would be my big wake up call to the team. Develop the younger guys more and see what they are by the end of the year. It’ll tell you a lot more about that position and what we need next year.
I’d draft LB early and late, draft at least two and add another in FA. Keep Alonso, he’s been decent.
You going to either the chargers or rams game ?
That would be sweet, but no. No more vacations planned for the rest of this year. It would be nice to meet up with a blog member who is a confirmed “real” person and get my wings as an actual “real” person as well, lol.
It’s west coast man.. not a vacation. Train stops at both stadiums.
LOL, I wish it were that simple, but for me and mine, it takes a lot of planning, coordination, and work to go even that far.
Piggy,
LOL. Yeah, getting Garrett, Humphrey and Foster in the first would be the stuff dreams are made of . It would be great if we could just get Humphrey and Foster because they come from a team that knows how to win games and they know what it’s like to win championships. That’s something I think stays with a player and they become guys who hate to lose. So, the mentality is instilled at the college level.
Then fill it in with others who play their positions really well.
But, sigh, that’s a pipe dream as well because we’ve got nobody we could trade for a first rd pick.
