BEATING THE JETS IS ALWAYS SPECIAL FOR ME!! – – I still remember all the fights, all the insults and all the beer bottles thrown by Jet fans in the 1966-69 days. We never defeated the Jets during George Wilson’s four years as head coach. Most of those losses were by very lopsided margins. And, as the clock ticked down to the final seconds, Jet fans uniformly became the lowest life forms on the planet.

Oh how I enjoyed the arrival of DON SHULA.!! “Believe me, I fully understand your feelings toward the Jets,” said the Don of Miami. “I’ve had my own problems with the Jets” he continued (referring to Super Bowl III). “Things will be different, I promise you, in this rivalry!”

Shula delivered. From 1970 through 1978 Miami defeated the Jets in something like 14 of the 18 games played between the two teams. I felt that a win versus Joe Willie and the Jets was like TWO WINS against any other franchise! A few years later, Miami defeated the Jets in the AFC Championship game in the historic Orange Bowl. It was one of the greatest days of my life!!

In recent decades, the Jets have had the edge in this rivalry. My celebrations of wins over the Jets had become too infrequent. But, today, our Dolphins delivered, just when all seemed lost!! –I NEVER TIRE of beating the Jets. That’s what I’ve been doing for the last several hours–celebrating a VICTORY over the team that, since year #1, has been our most hated and despised rival.

NOW, the Old Dolfan needs to rest up. There’s lots of work to do at my job tomorrow. I’ll have a big smile on my face as I walk in the door. And every one of my co-workers will know WHY I’m smiling!

Good night to Dolfans all over this planet!!

Folks like to point out that teams can win the super bowl with a game manager QB, but, if you look at that very short list, those teams almost always have at least one phase or part of their team that is phenomenal. Do we?

    I owe Herd a beer

Boo Hoo .. We won a divisional game .. Really ? I don’t get the nit picking of this game. Makes no sense .

  6. Phindog says:

Sorry.. didn’t mean to kill the blog. 👍👍

I’m not nitpicking. My earlier comment about it not being a ‘good’ win was more that it seemed that was the feeling on here during the game. I was kind of hoping Ajayi could get a 3peat if anything, that would have been awesome no matter how unlikely. It’s a win and I don’t care how they do it. 🙂

Hey folks! You can break down this game all you want. It was a team win. Some really bad officiating for both sides and some sloppy play. We prevailed – Ajayi again!!! Have at it. LOL

When a family house burns down I don’t really worry about particulars. Really sad weekend. Got to see the game though because nothing we could do at this time would change anything.

    Peace & Love everyone!

Tim – sorry to hear that. You seem to have had a string of bad karma coming your way the last year or so – I hope this reverses as of now. Keep your chin up mate.

  9. New Age says:

    Tim,
    Sorry for their loss.

Just watched Oakland dominate Denver and Carr didn’t really have a good game. Didn’t seem to matter. They ran it down Denver’s throat which is pretty awesome karma. No turnovers equal a win more often than not.

Wow Tim, I’m really sorry to hear about the fire, If it was mentioned on here before I completely missed it. I’m assuming it wasn’t your home but it sucks all the same. All the best to your family.

    • Tim Knight says:

Thanks Herd, it was my wife’s parents house, our family shore house. My mother-in-law is in a rehab facility and has no idea her house is gone.

    Thanks, UK and New Age.
