It wasn’t a pretty win. Even good teams have bad games. If you can manage to win your bad games you’re on the right track.

Here are the QB’s we have knocked out of the games

    Derek Carr, Sept. 28, 2014
    Matt Hasselbeck, Dec. 27, 2015
    Sam Bradford, Nov. 15, 2015
    Marcus Mariota, Oct. 18, 2015
    Jimmy Garoppolo, Sept. 18, 2016
    Ben Roethlisberger, Oct. 16, 2016
    Ryan Fitzpatrick, Nov. 6, 2016

  4. New Age says:

We still had 140 yards rushing against the best run D in the league. This team will win or lose on Ajayi’s back. Eat you some Campbell’s Chunky young man.

  5. Randy says:

    Wyoming,
Hey, one list I wish we would see Brady on! Lol

  6. Rockphin says:

I just got back from the bar and they had a “Jet’s room” where the local jet’s fan club had rented the whole room. It is in the back near the smoking area so every time I went to smoke a cigarette I was standing near the room and something good would happen for the Dolphins. I would stop and open the door on my way back to my inside seat and yell GO DOLPHINS! they were all like get the fuck out of our room you are bad luck, every time we see your bald head the Jets screw up.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Ride the J train! Dolphins are 4-4 and in the race.

  7. Randy says:

    Piggy,
You realize Philbin is an OL coach and prefers to run, right? I don’t think he told his OC’s what plays to call. His mistake was sticking with the guys he hired and letting them do their own thing. We also saw plenty of stupid play calls today too.

    • The Flying Pig says:

THe team was built soft under Philbin

What we saw in the field was his vision
lets not start making excuses for him

  8. The Flying Pig says:

  9. Randy says:

Lol. I bet Kelce is gonna get a nice big fine for throwing that “flag”. Funny but very stupid.

  10. Randy says:

    Piggy,
Seriously? So now we can’t make excuses for anybody? Well, that’s gonna just fuck this whole place up! Lol

  11. Phindog says:

Drake … 1st kickoff return for a TD had me and Phinpup doing a double shot of tequila 😎.. so glad we got the win.

  12. New Age says:

Philbin’s biggest problem is that he didn’t know a lot of really good coaches. His significant time in the small college ranks and in just GB didn’t give him a lot of exposure to good assistant coaches for the NFL. Look at the guys we had during his tenure. Not a really inspiring bunch.

  13. Randy says:

    New Age,
I agree, but you can’t let what the officials are doing make you do something stupid. That was a premeditated slap in the face of the refs by a player. That only hurts your own team…just not worth it.

  14. 81Howie says:

    How about our TE’s
Look no further, that #85 has got it locked down for a good long time
    HELL YEAH!

  15. 81Howie says:

On that return I said to Max sitting next to me. ON THEM! they have to kick from farther back and set up the return. Sure enough, old Max about fell asleep in his beer when I had to wake him up for the final 25 yards of the TD

  16. stangerx says:

Only thing I was sure of in the 2nd half when we were up by 4 was that the Jets would have the lead again.

Thanks to Drake and whichever Jets guy was offsides on the first kick, but they we looked after that think we would have won anyhow. Not a bad game.

  17. Mike E. says:

As Al Davis used to say, “Just win baby ”

I enjoyed that win. We almost lost it with special teams, and then we won it with special teams. Fitting

  18. Rockphin says:

Ok, NFL.com has corrected their mistake and now have the Dolphins listed in 2nd place.

  19. Rockphin says:

Although they still show the dolphins in 10th place in the conference behind the bills and Steelers who we beat head to head and have better conference records than. Fucking assholes. We are in 8th now and have a WC if the playoffs started today.

  20. Randy says:

    Rock,
Did it really matter that much to ya? Lol

  21. Randy says:

“We are in 8th now and would have a WC if the playoffs started today.”

Refs are a problem, though. I know they have to call them but the game is awful to watch today.

it wasnt just the fins game. it is all over football. both college and pros. 2016 the year of the dead celebrity and refs. to bad it isnt the year of the dead refs

  23. finfanrob says:

wow, what a dick. how dare you lump poor sports fan with jets fan.

  24. finfanrob says:

Yeah, Rock, and I’d be a porn star if I only had another 6 or 7 inches and a personal fluffier. Lol

rock dont fall for that randy bs. my sister said even 6 or 7 inches cant help a guy from Minnesota

  25. Randy says:

    ffr,
Good thing I’m from Iowa then. Lol

  27. finfanrob says:

And now to follow up an piss poor played football game we all get to elect some piss poor president on tuesday. can 2016 get over with yet

  28. Randy says:

Well, this has been memorable, but I have to go watch some paint dry.

  29. herdfan says:

sooooo, we won, but it really wasn’t a ‘good’ win. Does that mean the blog will be busier? Is the Hulk angry? I have all these questions. lol

    • Rockphin says:

LOL I don’t get the “bad win” thing. there are no moral victories when we lose so F them we won! The ugliest win I ever saw was a b e a u t i f u l thing.

  30. 81Howie says:

    Bookman

I hate to miss Columbo again but I drank and its gatting dark so I must go to bed soon

  31. finfanrob says:

so if a team gets 19 ugly wins doest that mean they dont get the SB trophy cause they didnt have any pretty wins

  32. son of a son of a shula says:

I thought that was a good win. Thought the D played well and did all we needed for us to win. Won the turnover battle, held them mostly to FG’s.
The offense was efficient enough and stayed with the running game which wound up winning the game and no picks from Tannehill and sacks way down.
Still young, still make a lot of stupid penalties but the team looks inspired and becoming winners together.

  33. bookman11 says:

    Herd,

Stanger taught me that any win is a good win. He was One of the few people who enjoy the win against the Browns and I learned a lot from that

  34. manitobafinfan says:

As of now Ajayi is weeks keading rusher

  35. New Age says:

    FFR,
Yeah refs have been bad for a while so it’s not the main reason watching is down but it doesn’t help. I don’t care to watch it like I used to either. Even with Bama always winning something, it’s still better watching college than what the NFL puts out every week.

    khat ks kucking kool

  37. finfanrob says:

    new age,

college is not quite as the ref show as the nfl has become but it is close. although college has that absurd targeting rule where game in and game out some kid is ejected because of some bs targeting call. in the fsu game last night that kid that was called for targeting and ejected was one of the worst i have ever seen. it would have had to of been some super human effort to not make contact with the qb yet he still got ejected from the game.

the officiating is just ruining the game

  38. Mike E. says:

How could this be anything but a GOOD win?

  39. Mike E. says:

We had the game, we almost lost it it with a ST’s gaffe, and then we won it with a great ST’s kick return. I thought that was quite fitting.

  40. New Age says:

B Marshall, 6 for 45 yards. Maxwell may not be great but he has been serviceable lately.

    • Mike E. says:

If I’m going to be honest, which I have to be, I’d put a fair amount of that on Fitzpatrick. He misfired quite a bit today, and Marshall was yapping at him all day.

  41. New Age says:

    FFR,

I agree. If I wanted to watch Zebras work, I’d move to Zimbabwe or whatever it’s called now.

  42. Brian in NY says:

You want to hear a b onus to today? The Chiefs won as well! We are still in it Bookman! Free food and drink for all!

  43. 81Howie says:

    HELL YEAH!
and it seemed like J-Train didnt do much at all today
Just wait till he has a big game

  44. Ken says:

    New Age:
Maxwell had several key penalties that kept drives alive. He did not play well

  45. Mike E. says:

People can bitch about Tannehill, but 85 pass attempts in his last 3 games, ZERO INTs. That’s a big reason why we’re winning, or not losing if you will.

  46. Mike E. says:

If you can’t be happy about today’s win, what makes you happy?

  47. wyoming85 says:

  48. finfanrob says:

    mike

i know it is taboo to talk about thill unless you are saying how much he sucks. but i did notice today him doing some things in the pocket others have bitched about for ever. they way he would slide away from pressure and things as such.

  49. Mike E. says:

    FFR

He absolutely did do that. He’s playing a lot like Alex Smith, and you know what, I’m fine with that.

it is also what happens when you stop asking your average qb to win games and the rest of the team steps up and starts playing well so your average qb isnt expected to be something he isnt.

but what the hell do i know, i am sure some how some way it is still thills fault

  53. stangerx says:

NOt the prettiest game ever, but for sure one that got you going.

    Total Net Yards
    Jets 332
    Phins 274

    Average Gain per O Play
    Jets 6.1
    Phins 4.4

    Possession Time
    Phins +22 seconds

Why’d we win? — 2 INTs plus Drake and some nasty D when it counted.

exactly, i never get why people expect him to be an elite qb when he was never ever that. i have always said stop expecting him to be something he cant be and build up the team around him. even a pure elite qb cant win shit without a good team around him. just ask some guy named marino

  55. finfanrob says:

    Your Killing Me Smalls

has to be right up there with one of the greatest movie lines ever.

VERY lucky that pass today wasn’t picked. That would have likely changed the outcome of the game.

    • Mike E. says:

Every QB gets lucky like that, it’s part of the game. No one has sympathy when a receiver pops it up and it gets picked, so don’t nitpick when a DB jumps a play, but drops the INT. It works both ways!

    • Phindog says:

Hater !! I about shit myself on that play 😊 Glad the defender had brick hands.

  57. finfanrob says:

    dog,

sorry about that. what i meant to say was, i cannot believe how t hill almost lost the fins this game. he is horrible, i hope they use every draft pick next year on qb’s

  58. finfanrob says:

VERY lucky that pass today wasn’t picked. That would have likely changed the outcome of the game.

or the drop on third down when he hit the TE right in the hands. one can do this all day long…..play the what if game.

  59. finfanrob says:

the colts are up 24-13 in the forth over green bay. so damn glad the fins dont have a horrible qb like rogers. rogers has to be one of the worst qb’s ever letting is team lose to the lowly colts

  60. stangerx says:

Not exactly how we drew it up but Mike E and I called exactly how Drake should be used in this game. We said tire out the other team and let Drake hit the loose gaps to the open field.

We were thinking after Ajayi, but they did it in another way. They sent Grant out for a kick off and had him run all over the field like he was playing keep away. Once Grant had them panting……….the Phins sent in Drake for the re-kick. You guys know what happened next.

    • Mike E. says:

      That was crazy!

      • stangerx says:

It also wasn’t smart football unless Grant knew that the flag was down and against them……..but hey — as long as the play took his coaches might have been yelling “Jets Penalty” from the sidelines.

    • stangerx says:

Much respect for Cohen, and can;t argue with this part.

“A large share of the credit continues to belong to this offensive line. Tannehill was sacked one time, meaning he has been sacked twice in the last three games after getting sacked 17 in the previous five. He wasn’t intercepted either, which makes it three games in a row. Interesting isn’t it how much better a quarterback you become when your running game is working and you’ve got time to throw? Again, back to the offensive line. “

  61. finfanrob says:

wow rogers sucks, he just let the colts drive down the field and score a td to put the colts up 31 – 13

    elite qb’s rule

  62. Rockphin says:

    finfanrob says:

It’s because he was playing against the incredible luck

  63. finfanrob says:

wow jax is 2-6 that is shocking since i remember some here saying how great there qb was and how he is soooooo much better then t hill

  64. Ken says:

We always talked about this team needing to learn how to win. Today they looked like a team that learned how to win

    • Ken says:

No turnovers, took the ball away twice, tough D when it mattered and grounded it the final 3 minutes of the game

      • stangerx says:

        And we beat the spread.

Did like how they looked confident after the Drake score. Had a different feel to it.

  65. finfanrob says:

    stanger

cohen if full of shit. he has no clue. i have been reading the experts on this blog here for years now and the o line has nothing to do with the play of the qb. it is all on the qb to make every other part of the team better. i mean just read the experts here

    • D says:

One doesn’t excuse the other and one doesn’t replace the other. You want the best you can get at any spot, plain and simple and any weakness has potential to cause losses. Great OL in Cleveland…. Shitty one on New England…..

    • stangerx says:

Yeah ffr — pure coincidence that our five starters have played together for the first time the last three games, we won them, and Tanny is getting sacked less.

  66. finfanrob says:

    D says:
    November 6, 2016 at 7:17 pm

Guess the guys who defended thill should say it’s a bad team not a bad QB huh?

or the fools that think winning is only up to the qb will realize it is a team game and not up to just one player

  67. finfanrob says:

    D,

GB is losing to the colts at home. So I guess those who put all the blame on the qb must thing rogers sucks

    • D says:

Rodgers really isn’t helping much. He is off this year for sure. His OL definitely isn’t the entire problem.

      • D says:

I’ve seen games where he had eternity of time to pass and still made the wrong decision. He has had decent time to make his passes but he us going against the strength of his receivers trying to make deep plays work when the short ones gave been open, he also has no running game to balance it. Even elite QBs have bad games and seasons, but you do have the elite years to remind you that it’s a bad year, and anomaly. We are hanging on to Tanny finally stringing a few games together to build confidence off of, not a multi year career of success. Not a real close comparison to make a point with.

  68. finfanrob says:

lmao just watching cbs football night in america show all of us how the jets just blew the game and lost it. damn those dolphins for not winning the game and just those silly jets doing things to lose the game

  69. finfanrob says:

    D says:
    November 6, 2016 at 7:24 pm

One doesn’t excuse the other and one doesn’t replace the other. You want the best you can get at any spot,

you do kind of get that is impossible to have the best at any spot. that is why you take what you have and you play to the strength of the team. thill isnt the strength of the team stop being a D when he isnt. accept who he is and find other ways to improve……oh wait, they did that the last 3 games. sorry what do i know it should just be an elite qb or bust

    • D says:

I am OK with how it’s been going. It’s not completely dependant on any obe position, so it’s nice that one can be off while the other excels and we win. I’m just saying you ultimately want the best you can at any position and you want to eliminate weakness at any position. That includes QB. If he continues to do his part he isn’t the weak link anymore.

  70. finfanrob says:

    stanger,

so hmmmm t hill gets blamed for all the losses but he oline gets credit for all the wins. oh well makes sense to me

    • stangerx says:

I only speak for myself ffr, nobody else. And I think this line plus Tanny work just fine. And my problem before these three wins was the O-Line. Think Tanny is who he is….a constant influenced by other factors more than anything.

  71. finfanrob says:

and the packers lose to the colts. thank god the fins dont have that shitty qb on the packers

when will you ever get it. t hill is nothing more then an average qb. stop expecting more. it is amazing how when the rest of the team stepped it up they are not losing.

i will never ever understand how some of you are so hung up on an average qb and you expect him to be elite when even elite qbs cant carry a team.

  74. CavalierKong says:

  77. CavalierKong says:

Loved how we iced the game by running the ball. Back in the playoff hunt!

  78. D says:

I’d pretty much agree with those grades to , though I’d probably grade the DBs a little lower, maybe D. LBs were maybe more B minus, they seemed pretty decent to me today.

  79. finfanrob says:

‘That includes QB. If he continues to do his part he isn’t the weak link anymore.’

    D,

but that is just it, he has always done his part. he has always been average with a below average team around him. now that other parts of the team has picked it up they are winning. but all everyone here could talk about was how he sucked and wasnt an elite qb

    • D says:

I disagree he has played better, maybe he doesn’t feel as pressured because they are running it more and there is more balance but he us definitely playing better as well. We have improved in a lot of areas including Gase and his management of the game

  80. D says:

The FFR stop comparing him to one. You made the comparison, I was saying exactly what you just did. He is average and just now he is playing like it

????????????? huh, where the hell do you get that from. i dont and have never compared him to anyone. i just pointed out even elite qb’s cant win games on their own. all i have ever said about him is stop expecting him to be something he isnt and build up the rest of the team. dont look now but they won 3 straight games cause the rest of the team stepped it up

  83. D says:

Also I think another thing is because we aren’t as reliant some of his claws aren’t as crucial. There were bad throws today. Behind guys when it should have been in front, low throw to Landry he had to fingertip catch it, but it’s not killing us as bad. He also responds better not, bounces back to make plays to make up for the mess ups. He is definitely improving.

  84. bookman11 says:

What a great win! We could have won 3-0, and I would take it. Another game in the past we would have lost. How about 4-1 in renovated, loud stadium.!!!!

  85. New Age says:

Im glad we are winning and I think everyone is on board with a game manager as long as we win. The only problem with game managers is that they usually can’t get you that extra win or two that is really needed once the playoffs happen. That’s why guys like Smith, Palmer, and Dalton haven’t gotten further than they have. I’ll care about that once we get in a few times in a decade lol.

  86. Rockphin says:

of the six teams currently ahead of us in the standings in the AFC we only play the Pats and Ravens we need to keep the teams behind us where they are by beating them H2H and knock off the Ravens. (we aren’t catching the Pat’s although a win against them the last game of the year might be really critical.

  90. Randy says:

See, even when it’s the OL and running back winning games for us, somehow Tannehill gets the praise…for doing nothing but not screwing up. What a shock. Lol

So bringing Rodgers into the co go as a show that Tanny’s issues aren’t any different than his isn’t a comparison?

wow, that was what you got out of me saying over and over and over and over that even an elite qb cant win a game on his own. you got out of that i was comparing thill to rogers. if that was what you got out of me being plain as day. EVEN AN ELITE QB CANT WIN A GAME ON HIS OWN. i have nothing left to discuss

He also threw a beautiful touch pass today, something he’s struggletd with in the past

mike none of that matters. only that he threw some bad passes. cause even lady boy and rogers and all the elite ones never ever ever throw bad passes. just the avg qb of the fins throws them. the rest are perfect on every pass

Bookman — and you guys in the cheese land are just one of the “maybe” swing states. Read yesterday that they have spent $130 million on Presidential ads in FL (and that doesn’t include the others ones).

You turn on a local station here and you get five, six, seven in a row.

    • herdfan says:

The presidential ones are bad, then you get all the other state races. The tv stations where I live have coverage for a 3 state area, so I get to hate candidates I don’t have a chance to vote against.

      • bookman11 says:

        Exactly

      • stangerx says:

Those negative ads work to an extent though. Told my wife as we out of the polls, “didn’t worry too much about checking out our congressman, since he wasn;t getting bashed on TV figured at least my vote on him didn’t matter.”

Oooohhhhh…..here comes ffr’s favorite part of the week!!!!

  97. bookman11 says:

Good night everyone, I really don’t care who is to “blame” for the win today. 😳 4-4 and in the playoff hunt. 3 wins in a row….I will take that any day.

BEATING THE JETS IS ALWAYS SPECIAL FOR ME!! – – I still remember all the fights, all the insults and all the beer bottles thrown by Jet fans in the 1966-69 days. We never defeated the Jets during George Wilson’s four years as head coach. Most of those losses were by very lopsided margins. And, as the clock ticked down to the final seconds, Jet fans uniformly became the lowest life forms on the planet.

Oh how I enjoyed the arrival of DON SHULA.!! “Believe me, I fully understand your feelings toward the Jets,” said the Don of Miami. “I’ve had my own problems with the Jets” he continued (referring to Super Bowl III). “Things will be different, I promise you, in this rivalry!”

Shula delivered. From 1970 through 1978 Miami defeated the Jets in something like 14 of the 18 games played between the two teams. I felt that a win versus Joe Willie and the Jets was like TWO WINS against any other franchise! A few years later, Miami defeated the Jets in the AFC Championship game in the historic Orange Bowl. It was one of the greatest days of my life!!

In recent decades, the Jets have had the edge in this rivalry. My celebrations of wins over the Jets had become too infrequent. But, today, our Dolphins delivered, just when all seemed lost!! –I NEVER TIRE of beating the Jets. That’s what I’ve been doing for the last several hours–celebrating a VICTORY over the team that, since year #1, has been our most hated and despised rival.

NOW, the Old Dolfan needs to rest up. There’s lots of work to do at my job tomorrow. I’ll have a big smile on my face as I walk in the door. And every one of my co-workers will know WHY I’m smiling!

Good night to Dolfans all over this planet!!

Folks like to point out that teams can win the super bowl with a game manager QB, but, if you look at that very short list, those teams almost always have at least one phase or part of their team that is phenomenal. Do we?

  103. Ken says:

    I owe Herd a beer

  104. Phindog says:

Boo Hoo .. We won a divisional game .. Really ? I don’t get the nit picking of this game. Makes no sense .

  105. Phindog says:

Sorry.. didn’t mean to kill the blog. 👍👍

  106. herdfan says:

I’m not nitpicking. My earlier comment about it not being a ‘good’ win was more that it seemed that was the feeling on here during the game. I was kind of hoping Ajayi could get a 3peat if anything, that would have been awesome no matter how unlikely. It’s a win and I don’t care how they do it. 🙂

  107. Tim Knight says:

Hey folks! You can break down this game all you want. It was a team win. Some really bad officiating for both sides and some sloppy play. We prevailed – Ajayi again!!! Have at it. LOL

When a family house burns down I don’t really worry about particulars. Really sad weekend. Got to see the game though because nothing we could do at this time would change anything.

    Peace & Love everyone!

    • ukfinfan says:

Tim – sorry to hear that. You seem to have had a string of bad karma coming your way the last year or so – I hope this reverses as of now. Keep your chin up mate.

  108. New Age says:

    Tim,
    Sorry for their loss.

Just watched Oakland dominate Denver and Carr didn’t really have a good game. Didn’t seem to matter. They ran it down Denver’s throat which is pretty awesome karma. No turnovers equal a win more often than not.

  109. herdfan says:

Wow Tim, I’m really sorry to hear about the fire, If it was mentioned on here before I completely missed it. I’m assuming it wasn’t your home but it sucks all the same. All the best to your family.

    • Tim Knight says:

Thanks Herd, it was my wife’s parents house, our family shore house. My mother-in-law is in a rehab facility and has no idea her house is gone.

  110. Tim Knight says:

    Thanks, UK and New Age.
