I’m feeling good about our team. I know we have some adversity today with Albert and Pouncey out, but I think this team can overcome it. It’s something we’ve definitely struggled with in the past, but this team has grown, and I think they have a winning mindset now, and that will get them through this. It will be great to see that, and the team will be even more confident once they do that. I’m looking forward to seeing this game, and see them become even more legitimate with a win today. GO DOLPHINS!

  4. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I was at MetLife stadium last night (all decked out in BLUE because the Giants are home today) for the Jets CFO’s son’s Bar Mitzvah. We were out on the field playing football between 7PM to maybe 8-8:30. It was beautiful outside, about 58 degrees. Then the party gets started, and we go inside, and somewhere about 11PM, I look outside and it’s raining. When the party ended at 1AM, we go outside, and it’s really raining hard, and the temps are falling fast! By the time we get on the NJ Turnpike, it’s snowing pretty hard, and it was 36 degrees. Crazy! Cool to see the first snow though.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

My preference for “cool” is lows near 50 and highs in the 60’s. But, hey, if snow is your thing, GO FOR IT! After 30+ REAL winters in various northern locations, my desire for more REAL WINTERS is long gone!

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I don’t know if it’s my thing necessarily, but it was just so unexpected, and harmless, because we knew it wasn’t going to stick, the ground was too warm, but it always looks pretty when it’s falling.

  5. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

WE SHOULD GET USED TO LIFE WITHOUT ALBERT AND, MAYBE, POUNCEY! This game will give us a good chance to see if the back-ups who are starting today are good enough for the long haul (or NOT good enough). And it will give Gase more information about future moves in the O-Line. But the bottom line is THIS: we definitely NEED MORE HELP in the offensive line. The bigger question is “How MUCH help, and HOW many players do we need, there?”
    ——————
A CONTRARY point of view was offered on the other site a couple of days ago. It read “No Albert. No Pouncey. No problem.” HOPE he’s right.

  6. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    OD

I think to me, Gase had to find out which guys he can count on (backups). Thomas and Turner, 3rd and 4th RD picks respectively, were given an opportunity and they failed. Unlike Philbin, he put the trash to the curb, and said if they can’t do it, they’re gone. Urbik and Steen have played well when their numbers were called, although they have some tough sledding today against Aaron Donald. He’s a tough matchup for a seasoned all pro, so whoever will be matched up with Donald will probably be getting help from either the guy next to him, a RB, or maybe they’ll just run at him a lot and tire him out. While Donald is a great penetrating DT, he’s not great at defending the run, he’s more of a pass rushing DT. If we do pass, maybe we roll away from wherever he lines up.

I like the big fluffy flakes that when you’re driving at night just seem to be coming right at you. It’s like a 3D movie.

  8. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

From the article I posted last night Pouncey isn’t going to miss a lot of time it seems so really it’s just Albert who is going to be out for an extended period of time. It’s a lot easier to shuffle things to replace one guy, 2 is tougher. Good teams deal with this and don’t fall apart. We’ll see what we’ve got today.

    Go Dolphins!!!!

Crud, the Patsies did it to me again…
Why the Hell is CBS showing an NFC game 4:00 PHI-SEA
I was hoping the NE-SF game would be on the Orlando network today
Now I have to hear the Patsie Fans while I try to enjoy our game.
To top it off, there are so many of them I am now worried we might not get a seat for dinner when the wife comes to get me around 7:00

    ———————-
Mike E — long ago gave up to the fact that you sleep with the enemy, but did you get some scoop from what must have been a lot of Jets FO types on how they are feeling about their team or ours?

And way cool that you got to be on the field. Only time have stepped on one was briefly is in a stadium tour of the Astrodome.(first domed stadium…was a big thing in the day).

But how the heck did you guys from Bar Mitzvah dress to playing ball to the party after? Was it like a fancy event with a tailgate after or did folks “hit the showers”?

  11. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    Go 9ers !!!!!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

You really thinking division…….or just Pats hate?

I figure better if come last game Pats have their bye all set up.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s only 2 games even though it looks bigger than that. Could you imagine the last game of the year being for the DIV? 🙂

@ Jets, @ Bills, Home Pats is our season if we hang in there until then.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I could movie script us into a Superbowl win, but figure the only way we win the division is the same one as last time around. Not that I root for it……but Brady goes on IR.

  12. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

Right now it’s 64 and sunny in the northern suburbs of Tampa. Next Sunday it looks like the high will be near 80 when Miami hosts the ’49ers at Hard Head Stadium. Just beautiful weather for football!!!

  13. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Stanger

We played football before, and we weren’t playing a game, just throwing it around. I didn’t get a chance to talk to him at all last night, he was pretty occupied. I’m far from a good friend, just an ex-neighbor, but it’s really nice to be invited. Our wives see each other fairly often, and that’s how the relationship continues. I may actually play softball with him next spring in a night league, but it’s going to be hard because of my crazy work schedule. When we were throwing it around, it was in my suit, but I took my jacket off. lol

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Come’n Mike-E-Be-Good. The wife’s friendship with yours was just the excuse so the the invite and your visit did not violate softball league recruiting rules. They even had you walk on the stadium field and throw it around.

You might not be able to demand a car off the books, but at least tell the Jets CFO you’ll pitch for his team if you get 50-yarder seats for next year’s Phin’s game.

  14. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Herd

It was exactly like you described last night, big fluffy flakes swirling around because of high winds, and it was pretty.

  15. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Stanger: it is three things Patriot Hate, Sport Select ticket 600.00 if Clev, 9ers win and hou/oak finish within 3 pts. And YES i still see Division as a possibility

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Not sure what those last two exactly mean, but guessing there is money involved. But that’s good enough for me. Go Niners.

You know who Bookman has in his blackout pool this week. 🙂

      • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

5.00 bet on those three game results. All three happen we win. Any dont we dont win

No clue in Bookmans pick. Mine is Pitt.. hoping for lossses by Giants and Lions to drop another 12 out of 23 out of contention

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Sounds like you are still in the serious mix for your blackout pool . Good job. Now Bookman said he would pay for the next Fest if he won…..:just yanking your chain. 🙂

It was a really nice catch by Britt, and we were close to batting it down.. but alas

  46. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

you just know the rams saw the schedule at the beginning of the season and said ok against the dolphin defense we will start the rookie, that way he will get lots of confidence from looking all world against the putrid defense

maybe after the game they can teach the dolphin defense how to do that

  52. Ken's avatar Ken says:

We look like we are still jet lagged

  53. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

We have no tape on the rookie, so we need to adjust to what he is doing during the game. Very dangerous.

  54. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

oh shit, a 3 and out. guess the defense is going to be soooooo tired now they give up another score cause the offense had a 3 and out

  55. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    I definitely see a Pick6 coming.
