If you come from CT Vinnie
I suspect you have to come in NYC via Grand Central
then walk to Penn Station to catch the train to Met Life
if you go to Penn Station you will see a ton of fans going the same way

    ———————-

Yes, I take the train to GC, take a subway to Penn then take a train to the stadium.

My friend and I used to drive to Stamford in the 80’s to watch the Phins play the Pats at a bar.

They played them at a bar? That would be fun to watch! 🏈🍸🏈🍸🏈🍸

  6. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Ken, yeah we were nuts. We tried everything we could to see the games. Don’t have to do that anymore. 🙂

  7. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Tannehill’s injury while not necessarily as bad as initially feared can still be season ending at this point of the season

  8. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Ken, I can’t remember the bar we went to but they had amazing filet mignon sandwiches.

Stamford is my least favorite court house to get to in the state. Horrible traffic to get in and out of

    —————

i95 and the Merritt are the worst highways in the world. I was coming to work from my parents place this morning and it took nearly 2 hours to get into the office. It’s normally a 45 minute drive without traffic

  11. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Knowing Vinnie is in CT we really need to do another NE meet up at Slattery’s in NYC but my problem will be is the remaining schedule will all be conflicted with holidays

“I’m definitely planning on playing this Saturday,” Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso said on @560WQAM.

  13. Jeff Fisher got fired. Tying and not breaking the NFL record for most head coaching losses before getting fired is the most Jeff Fisher exit of all time. How that overrated bonehead got an extension this year is beyond me.

  14. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Jeff Fisher was fired by the Rams

  15. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

And we were all worried. 😉
    Brett Brecheisen‏ @bbrech
The Dolphins held Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald to his lowest receiving output (12 yards) since Dec. 9, 2012 (2 yards at Seattle).

  16. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Chris Mortensen

    @mortreport

Jeff Fisher has been fired as coach for the Los Angeles Rams, per sources. More to come.

Damn!! Maybe we have a chance at him now? ………..

    HA! Gase is the man!

  17. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, I don’t understand Arians’ comments about the weather. We most definitely had the ball when it was raining as well. In fact it started with us having the ball. All the turnovers were happening to both teams during it. That pass RT threw that just wobbled out of his hands on that screen.

  18. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Did the Rams send the helicopter to take Fisher out of the building?

  19. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I thought fisher just got a contract extension last week? now he’s fired?

  20. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

I said to a buddy yesterday “I don’t even care if Tannehill is still gone for the season, I just don’t want his ACL to be torn.”

  21. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Don’t let the helicopter door hit you in the ass Jeff fisher

  22. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Why extend Fisher at all, because he was doing such a great job? His team was getting worse.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think it was promised at pet of the transition to LA

That is what espn said this morning
He was still on he not seat after the extension was announced
      It was a little misleading

  23. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Why is Mike Pouncey even still on the 53? He should have been IR’d weeks ago. He isn’t going to play again this year and has already missed like 1/2 the season!

I did not know that Steen is battling through a serious ankle injury and neck problems.

    From PBP
“Anthony Steen has been starting in his place with mixed results. There were two snafus on center-quarterback exchanges in Sunday’s win over Arizona, and Steen has been playing through a serious ankle injury and a neck problem.”

  24. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

The lunch pail store called and they’re all out of steens.

  25. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I liked what I saw out of Mike Hull yesterday, and it wasn’t the INT. He fills up the MLB position real nice. And now Alonso is saying he will be suiting up against the Yets.

Call me crazy — but given what we have going at LB…..wouldn’t mind seeing Hull in the middle and Alonso on the outside, probably the weak.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Possible or they could rotate. We like to blitz Alonso so maybe that will be the case. A lot of the time we’re basically using 2 ILBs and one outside anyway.

  26. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I disagree with you guys about Hull
He doesn’t have the athleticism to succeed in the NFL

I’m pretty sure that long end around run was a product of SLOW linebackers

yeah he made an interception, but we really need guys that can move around from sideline to sideline and that is just not what Hull, Paysinger or Butler provide

I would have a real problem with the the way the defense is built if one of them is starting in 2017

    as backups they are fine

  27. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

This just in: Chuck Norris thinks Tannehill is a badass.

  28. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t know if Pouncey will ne healthy again

but if we cut him next season we save about 4M in cap space
not great (about 5M in dead money)
but in 2018 he is only 2m in dead money and clears about 7M in space

so I kinda expect the Dolphins to stick with Pouncey in 2017

Branden Albert on the other hand only leaves us with a little udner 3.5 in dead money and clears over 7M in cap space
When you consider that Tunsil will probably be moved to LT next season
    seems like Albert is gone

I wonder if we can replace the interior OL in free agency

I saw some comments about Pouncey here.
I know one thing I just saw on the Fins site was Pouncey has been ruled out for Saturdays game.
Must have been after the presser from Gase cause it sounded like he refereed to him for a few seconds about almost being ready yesterday and might be ready this week

  34. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Piggy, you never know if Hull can at least be in the game day mix long term. Zach was not the most athletic or fastest guy either but he had great instincts and study habits. Hull is likely a better backup than starter but I do think he gives great effort and knows what he’s doing out there. Some guys can’t find the ball regardless of athletic ability.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think we need some athletic LBs this offseason
      2 new athletic LBs

and if the Dolphins fail to add those LBs
      expect relentless squealing!

  35. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Tha Landry big catch yesterday

Look at those other WRs downfield blocking

Not so sure about that Parker leap
    But I like the effort

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’ve noticed we have improved greatly with down field blocking. The same on the Aikens 2 PT play. It’s a mentality change.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

        Yeah I agree on Aikens

week to week I see guys fighting downfield for more

how many times are we going to see Damien William get pushed into the endzone before the season is done

I bet it happens once more
it seems like our guys fight every week for a little more

  36. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That dude on the end around was also really friggin fast. But I thought we reacted slow to it more than anything while it was developing. Almost like we thought it was a decoy and let it go.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I just think that’s lack of athleticism on defense

some of this stuff is magnified without Reshad Jones in their who maybe might have helped

but mainly I think at LB its ugly

  37. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    I also thought
on the Kenny Stills play that was called an interception
and on the Ajayi recovery that was ruled a Cardinals recovery
irrespective of the rulings on the field

I think our guys fought for everything
    every inch
and I cannot fault the effort they gave

Kenny Stills is scrappier than the average speedster
    I hope we keep him

  38. 81Howie's avatar 81Howie says:

Good call Pigsgerald, the league has already penciled us in at 9-5
Now how does this weeks Broncos game end up?

  39. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

It was Hull’s first game as a starter and he is still a kid in NFL minutes played. But Alonso or Reshad or even Jelani would’ve run that guy down before he got completely free.
Also their WR pushed Maxwell out of bounds, which is legal, but then prevented him from returning to the field by continuing to block him while both were out of bounds, which I think is illegal. No flag of course.

  40. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Piggy, this team definitely competes on every play. I think guys like Tannehil showing toughness and Landry setting the tone with his effort rubs off too. But I think the coaches also have zero tolerance for lackluster effort. That may be the biggest difference in coaching and not so much scheme.

  41. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Fantastic news about tanny

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I dont even care about the rest of the season. We’re building for the future

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You gotta try when you have the chance though. Shit happens! Like with Tannehill and other key guys we lost. In a flash you’re not the same team and you go 6-10 again.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I still hope, but idont expect a lot without our starting qb. Maybe if our d was better

  42. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

  43. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Need some lbs, a center, a guard, another te would be nice

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      Agreed.

Hopefully Duarte will develop into a weapon. I like Sims as a prototype TE and he’s been coming through for us. Add that tall seam TE that Cameron was supposed to be.

I think our secondary has a chance to develop nicely with some of the young guys. I’m not as concerned about them as others.

  44. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Funny, iwas ready to go away from tanny at the beginning of the year. I fully believe we can win it all with him now

  45. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

  46. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

This offseason will be the most important we have had in 20 years

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Could be one of those that puts us in that other echelon where we have a 12-4 type season or better. It happens like that sometimes. We do have some very good players already. Need to patch some holes. Eliminate as many weaknesses as possible and build around your strengths. It doesn’t take 25 players. More like 5-7.

  47. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

It doesn’t take 25 players. More like 5-7.

lol, so 3 line men, 2bs, 2 d line men, 3 d backs, a kicker and a TE not to mentions some to become back ups………but yeah just 5-7 players. well that or ross can ask the league to let them play noting but teams with losing records

i think that name is used both positive and negative. i have called him that but i dont mean it negative

  49. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If we build on who we already have.
    Offense needs:
OL – depth and possible starting C
    TE – seam threat

    Defense needs:
    LB – more talent
DE – gotta get younger and more talented
DB – nothing wrong with some more competition

    STs needs:
    K – competition for Franks

  50. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

lol, sorry tim. didnt know giving you to hard reality would put that look on your face

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Nope! I’m happy with our team’s progress. I don’t think we’re that far off even though there could be some tough decisions in the offseason.

We’re also not in cap hell like some peeps keep worrying about and we still have a 1st and 2nd rd pick which are the richest draft picks. Re-sign a few guys, add some through FA and draft two good top 64 players. It can change everything. We’re not as void of talent as you make us out to be. We have some voids, upgrade them and build on your best players. We have quite a few talented players.

YES, my old alma mater made a big splash by hiring Lane Kiffin as their next head football coach!! Good for recruiting! But Kiffin’s NOT the long term answer because he won’t be at FAU more than 2-3 years. I’ll withhold judgment until after the 2017 season
is over. After three consecutive 3-9 seasons, even a 6-6 year will look good.

  88. Zach Thomas may not have been the most athletic guy back when he played but guys in general weren’t nearly as athletic as they are today. Different time, different place.

  89. are we saying here that the reason we shut down the Cards receivers is because of the conditions because we played in the same conditions and they didn’t shut our receivers down? I give our guys a lot of credit because as we all know the wr’s have the advantage when it comes to making cuts in bad conditions and our cb’s did their jobs.

I’d say it was 2 reasons why the Cardinals struggled on offense. Our D-line was killing their O-line, and the heavy rains definitely slowed them down. That’s my opinion, not fact.

    • I just look at it from the point of view that it didn’t slow down our receivers on offense. Both teams played in the same conditions and it just seemed like we weren’t giving our defense props for the job the did vs the Cards and saying it had to do with the weather.

ARZ plays in a closed stadium. It really was a some heavy rain. Some teams deal with the conditions better than others. Palmer never looked comfortable, and was having trouble gripping the football.

      • that may be so but we also saw the pass Tannehill threw backwards that slipped out of his hands. both teams played in the same weather and our guys were getting open and their guys weren’t. Our cb’s did an excellent job against them and our d-line REALLY played a great game. We got it done and they didn’t.

AS ROCKPHIN pointed out earlier, the Dolphins have a decision to make today. They must cut 1 person from the list of active players. They may cut Dion Jordan OR put either Pouncey or Tannehill on injured reserve. the ONE OPTION I HOPE THEY DON’T USE would be to put Tanny on I.R. –Miami NEEDS to keep the hope alive that if the unexpected occurs (Fins get into the playoffs and WIN a game) Mr. Tannehill might, at some future point, be cleared in round 2 or 3 of the playoffs, to take the field. YES, it may be a 1 in a thousand chance he could play in 5-6 weeks. But, for team morale, I hope they KEEP THAT SLIM HOPE ALIVE. Cutting Dion Jordan would NOT hurt my feelings one little bit.

  93. The MOVE I EXPECT the team to make is to promote Doughty from the PS this week. To hell with Jordan.

  94. Because if Moore goes down I doubt the league will allow Tannehill to use Shula’s Jazzy to move around in the pocket.

  95. and we’ve already seen Landry throw the ball. not good.

  96. as far as Jordan is concerned I say trade him to SF. Kelly probably still has his FatHead hanging on his wall in his office.
