Welcome to the Postseason

nfl-playoffs

Welcome to the postseason Miami! What do I wear?  It’s been so lonpiggyupscaleg… Too dressy?

Well I can’t help myself, it’s a special occasion.  If you don’t know by now, come out of your hole and celebrate!  The Dolphins are in the NFL Playoffs!!!

After starting the season off 1-4 and causing every Dolfan to stick their head in an oven after a brutal loss to Tennessee, the Fins turned it around aajayind won 9 of their last 10 games.

Well, you all enjoyed it, so I don’t have to spend much time with it but I can’t help to re-live it.

On Saturday, Dolfans enjoyed another 200 yard game from Jay Ajayi.  Choo Choo!!!  Ajayi had been slowed down recently but not against the Bills, who tackle like they rub their uniforms in canola oil before the game.

franksfg

But it wasn’t just Ajayi.  It was a typical team effort.  Drake had a big TD run, Kenny Stills caught another TD after Jarvis Landry had a big gain and DeVante Parker also has a long tackle breaking catch.

But the game almost slipped away.  That is until Adnrew Franks nailed a career long 55 yard FG to send it into overtime.

In overtime following a Dan Carpenter missed FG,  guess who put the game away?

FRANKS!!!

adamagase

Thank you Adam Gase!  For teaching this team how to fight!

On every play these guys fight for extra yardage.

If you are wondering why every NFL Talking Head doesn’t think much of the Dolphins, let me summarize…

They don’t know what they are talking about!

None of these experts really watch games anymore.  They read tweets and are in such a hurry to tweet their own opinion, they don’t have time for that sort of thing.

cheifswinSo unlike you and me, they don’t see Jay Ajayi fight for every inch.  They don’t see the entire OL push Ajayi for a first down.  Or Damien Williams into the end zone.  Or Jarvis Landry fight the entire opposing team.  Or the entire wide receiver unit blocking downfield on yet another big offensive play.

But who cares!  Let the Dolphins swim under the radar. In the meantime, don’t forget to give a big thank you to the snowpiggyChiefs.

Their defeat of the World Champions knocked the Broncos out and sealed a playoff spot for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins are going to be on the road in the first road.  And yeah, that means it will be cold.

But you know what?  It was cold in Buffalo and in New York.

These Dolphins can handle it.

We have one game left int he regular season, against the Patriots at home.  Word has it the Patriots want to go into the postseason hot.  So don’t expect them to take the game lightly.  Hopefully we get to see Brady bleed!  Go Dolphins!!!

For me, the 55 yard kick to tie the game (and longest kick of his season… in windy weather) was the most surprising play of the game! The frantic hurry up to get the kick off… the distance… the conditions… and it goes through. = Bills on wrong side of a kick once again. LOL

HOW GREAT WOULD IT BE to knock New England OUT of the #1 seed on the last day of the regular season?? Even with McGloin at QB, I like Oakland’s chances of beating Danver in Oakland. If Miami beats the CHEATS, both Oakland and New England would finish 13-3. And Oakland wins the tie-breaker and thus the top seed.

A WIN versus New England would send them a warning!! The CHEATS are not predestined to win the AFC, nor the Super Bowl! Brady turns 40 next year. The smell of CHANGE is in the air, and in the AFC East!!

Garrett with 2 rookies is a strong candidate, Bellicheat overcoming the conviction of his QB for cheating is impressive, and del Rio’s resurrection of a franchise is also worthy.
Reid lost twice badly at home, so, no.

I think we beat the steelers if we play them

That game earlier this year was no fluke
    It’s who we are

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think we CAN beat the Steelers, no question about that. It can be tough in their house in the very cold weather, but I think right now, we’re built for it, more than we have been in a long time. Our toughest task will be limiting Bell, and actually taking Ben down, because he extends plays, and then finds his receivers better than any QB in the NFL

  34. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Good enough for the sixth best record in the AFC and nobody can touch it

Howie, not to pour Homeraide on the fire, (well ok, ONLY to pour Homeraide on the fire, it is 150 proof afterall) we don’t have the sixth best record in the AFC. We are tied for FOURTH best record in the AFC some Division leaders have the same or worse records than us.

That’s how it is Piggy. I’m telling you from experience that it gets better every day, feels better every day, and one day he’s going to start running, and he’ll see how it feels, and then he’ll probably try running an turning, and see how that feels, and if he has discomfort or pain, then they’ll have to wait and see how it responds after that.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Let him sit and ride with Moore for the rest of the season no matter how far that is. ACL’s do not heal on their own and he has a partial tear. The MCL may heal on it’s own but ACL’s do not. See how it goes through the playoffs and get that ACL tightened up immediately after the season ends. I’d keep him on the roster as the BICOE QB if Moore get’s banged up and we are advancing in the playoffs but otherwise I would be careful with him.

    Next Question
Did we set the bar a bit to high this 1st season?
    I’m leaning towards did not…
By next season we would have been expecting Wild Card anyway so we must at least do that.
Might be a bit premature to be thinking Division But if we can start getting past some other teams that have owned us in the past we are well on our way.

DID SOME YARD WORK YESTERDAY and could not believe how hot it was. Today’s paper says it was 92 yesterday in the St. Petersburg suburb of Largo. Was 86 in Tampa for the 2nd consecutive Christmas and AT LEAST 90 in my backyard. (Normal highs this time of year are about 70). Now I know mentioning the term “Climate Change” in Florida governor Rick Scott’s office can get you fired. And I know Rush Limbaugh says “Climate Change” was fabricated by liberal scientists. Well I’m no liberal but I have lived off-and-on in Florida since 1959. And I clearly remember Christmases in the 1970’s and ’80’s when the temperatures dropped to near freezing or, in one case, in the upper 20’s in Delray Beach. This 20 degree surge above normal temperatures in Tampa Bay the last two Christmas weeks is something to behold. It’s NOT a good thing.
    ————————-
Right now I’m staring at the little lake outside my window. Currently it is 90 per cent dry. It will doubtless be TOTALLY DRY by the end of February, barring unexpected tropical rain storms. An old timer who has lived in this neighborhood over 25 years says “this will be the first time this lake has gone dry since I moved here!” And he agrees with me that the last few winters here have been “scary hot!”

MIAMI HERALD’s Barry Jackson reporting that Dolphins south Florida TV ratings remain at “Historic lows” despite recent victories. Only 12.2% of local TV’s were tuned in to Dolphins-Bills game, well below what most NFL teams draw on Sundays. I predict ratings for Fins-Pats game will be higher. I know what ya mean but I’m always opposed to it unless the guy you are sitting is a perennial probowl type vet. Those guys will stay prepared despite sitting them. Other players it’s kinda risky to take them out of their groove. We also still have a shit, albeit a small one, to move up to 5th seed. Which should have us playing Houston not Pittsburgh which to me would be really much better for our chances.

  73. D's avatar D says:

Way I feel about this year is we finally see the pieces coming together and you have to credit Gase, Christensen, and Joseph for doing so in their first season. I think we are still a couple players from being solid and having confidence that any game can be ours. Depth one more quality starter, another depth player there, a starter at LB, maybe 2, young talent at DE, another talented guy in the secondary, but more importantly keep the core of this team together as long as possible.

I’d also try damn hard to lock down Joseph before some other team comes calling. Give the nan what he needs to make the decision to chance a HC position over security he will have with us will make the GC route a bad one until he gets the exact job he is looking for.

Landry is most important guy to get inked to a long term deal. I know he isn’t a FA yet but we need to be working on that like now.

As much as I have been wanting to move on past Moore keeping him might be a good idea too unless someone wants to make us a big deal for trade

This team exceeded what I had hoped for and at one point I didn’t think it had a snowballs chance to even meet those expectations.

  74. D's avatar D says:

Btw Toba great week in fantasy. Perfect timing to bust out a 150 point week

  75. D's avatar D says:

OD, part of the reasons they have given up is listening to the hacks reporting on the team in Miami. The years of disappointing play has made a lot just waiting for the other shoe to fall, so they are skeptical about investing in the team again, and truthfully there is probably a small contingency not want to jinx things.

You would look to beginning of the season next year if you want to know if there will be a turn around.

  84. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Ken, I strongly disagree with you on VJ. He’d had young rookies in the secondary, he’s had injuries to deal with, and a LB core that didn’t get fully addressed in the offseason.

But he’s brought some nice physical press coverage play when under the last DC’s we had none, and he’s had the Defense really flying to the ball and coming up with a +plus TO differential that we haven’t had in some time.

Could the tackling and LB coverage be better? Yep, and same with the DL play that seems off and on.

I think VJ mad chicken salad out of chicken shit. I’d love to see what he can do next year with a healthy Reshad Jones, 2nd year players developing, and some new talent additions to the LB & DE spots.

I do agree with Son that for continuity’s sake it would be nice to have him back. However I don’t view him as irreplaceable. Good teams lose coordinators all the time. Just look at the Patriots or the Packers or the Seahawks. They lose coordinators all the time and still win

Can you imagine the press conference introduction of him
“And now your new head coach who lead the Miami Dolphins defense to the 30th rush defense in the NFL…so he’s not last”

    We all love this team
    But no one else does
The perception is that we are a fluke including our coaches

I don’t see the NFL lining up to hire VJ this offseason

Average at best is right. Our defense is #30 in yards allowed per game, #19 points allowed per game, #20 against the pass, #30 against the pass. We’re #15 in sacks with 33. Where we have excelled is in INTs, we rank tied for #3 in the NFL with 16 INT’s

In other words, basically our defense is below average. Not all VJ’s fault at all though, we need LB’s and and a pass rushing DE besides Wake. We need Reshad back badly too

Yeah, They have been living on making big plays when they need them, bt are giving up a ton of yards, particularly rushing. That’s where it may come back to bite us in the playoffs. My buddy is talking smack about the likelihood of playing Pitt- I’m sure yours is too. I would love to shut him up…

I still can’t believe that we are in the playoffs.

LMAO – You just did what drives you crazy about people who defend Tannehill. I’m talking about defense, and you blame the offense. Alright, the defense is great, and we don’t need to change a thing, we should just draft on offense, cut Tannehill, re-sign matt Moore, and draft his replacement, and we’re SB contenders.

My friend Scott is probably quietly licking his chops thinking of playing us, but he’s been respectful so far. He said they’re looking for revenge after the beat down we gave them, and how that loss sent them into a tailspin.

You’re the real champion! I’m a paper champion.
