  3. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Well, we had a pretty unpredictably good season after starting 1-4. Let’s reload in the offense and build up this defense and make a real run at the division next year for a change.

  4. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Winning 10 games. clinching a playoff berth with a week left, and finishing with 9 wins in 11 games, that is not baby steps.
If we had gone from 6-10 to 8-8 i would say baby steps.
This was a giant leap forward.

Well, Ajayi, Stills, Tanny, Pouncey will all get plenty of time to rest up now.

    naples

i appreciate you think that but in my opinion winning the SB is a massive success. i am sick of the last 30 years of this team being average to bad. i will call the season a success when they start winning in the playoff.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I know how you feel man. But for the first time in a long long time, I think a SB is possible with this team, not some imaginary team we don’t have, but THIS team.

  29. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Hey so in FA we plug a couple holes then we have another great draft and BAM!
Guys, if we just improve a couple games next year, we are 12-4.
Just with Reshad back, that should happen.

Well as Naples said it was a leap forward from last year. Things appear to be trending upwards for us going forward.

    Resign Stills

Lock up Kiko. Guy is a warrior

Play on Gase relationship with Martellus Bennett and get that TE into our huddle.

i dont know if the sb is possible but i will say gase first year there was some really good things. but like boulder said you never know what happens next year. hopefully they have found their coach and he can build a sb caliber team

  37. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

well that sucked. I am not going into the offseason down though. I will not tear down the still this year. I am going to expand and improve on it. We have a lot of free agents this offseason. like 26 of 53 if I remember correctly, but a lot of our young core guys are still here.

    Off season priorities:
    Resign Landry
    Resign Stills
    Resign Sims
    Resign Branch
    FIND LINEBACKERS!!!!
    FIND LINEBACKRS!!!!!!!
Get some more help at safety, CB & OL
    Keep developing our guys!
We have the right coach to have continuity under finally.

    Draft a QB to develop
    Draft a TE
    Draft a LB
    Draft a DE

    Not necessarily in that order.

  38. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

troy gayman just said the giants have struggled on 3rd down through out this game. he does know this is the opening drive doesnt he

  39. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

If they would’ve called PI on our first scoring drive, if Moore hadn’t fumbled on the 2 consecutive drives…None of it would’ve mattered, we had no chance today, that 1% was dead on. With that said we should hold our heads high this offseason, we have a coach with a clue.

  40. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Some pigs are excited about 2017
some pigs just roll in the mud

    What kinda pig are you?

  41. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

after 1-4 I doubt a single person here would have said we make the playoffs… especially with key injuries building throughout the season.

We’ve had a couple solid drafts. Lets keep developing OUR guys, keep hitting on picks… Our DB’s if healthy are a good unit. LB, DE, and (yes) some legit depth in OL.

  42. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Someone made a mistake

if the mistake was giving troy gayman a microphone then i agree

  46. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s a conundrum. I knew this team was severely undermanned, but somehow we were able to do more with less often enough to make me feel like we could hang with the Steelers, who I do believe will be exposed for their lack of defense against a better team. CBS kept making a big deal of how angry the Steelers were that we kicked their ass earlier in the season, but both teams were entirely different then. We had Pouncey, Reshad Jones, Isa Abdul-Quddus, Maxwell, and probably a couple of others I’m forgetting at the moment. I think if we had all of those guys today, it would have been much different, but all I can do is say “What if?”

We have to be successful in the offseason filling the gaping holes, and making a wise decision on Pouncey. I don’t think we can count on him, so we need to have a solid backup plan for him, Reshad will be back, and I’d prefer a bigger safety than Isa. I don’t think he’s built to play physical football. Of course, LB is where we need to find at least 3 quality players, not all necessarily to start, but we need to upgrade our depth significantly. I think we have 4 suitable CB’s in Maxwell, Howard, Lippett and McCain. I think at least 2 of them will be better next year (Lippett and Howard), and Maxwell will be about the same, and I’m not sure about McCain.

We have to find young talent at DE, probably 2 guys to groom. On offense, besides the backup plan for Pouncey, we need 1 more OL for depth, and finally, I’d love to bring in a legit TE. Bookman can explain in detail what I want. 🙂

  47. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Giants D is what I want our D to be good in all phases of the game

  48. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

If we lose Stills, I would draft McCaffrey to replace him and to keep him from becoming the replacement for Amendola in NE.

  49. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

looks like we will draft at around #22 or #23….

I like Kiko Alonso’s mentality in the middle (broken thumb, bleeding… and still playing hard)… so maybe an OLB like Cunningham who can cover those damn TE’s (?). This draft is loaded at CB so I’m hoping there is a run on them and we get a great LB prospect in round one.

  50. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Mike,
Your points in your 5:38 post was what I was saying before the game.

  54. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

9 of the top 25 and about 20 of the top 75 highest rated players in the draft are either DE, OLB, or ILBs. All we need is 3 (one of each) (pending FA).

  55. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Naples:
If Mccaffrey is to become a WR he will be a slot WR. He is not a boundary WR which is what Stills is. We already have the best slot WR in football. If we draft I will literally shit and vomit simultaneously

  56. D's avatar D says:

Cunningham woukd likely be a mlb for us, same with foster

    • D's avatar D says:

A guy who might give us exactly what we need would be Beckwith. He has some size and strength to him as well as good instincts and experience setting up the defense. He would be a second rounder, maybe middle third. Alex anzalone, Jarrad Davis also a stronger MLB prospect, he is going to be a late first to mid second pick

  57. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

    MikeE and Naples…
If we move Alonso… then we gotta find a way to get Foster in 1st round to get an impact guy at that position. Will he be there at 22 or 23?

    • D's avatar D says:

He should be, he Jarrad Davis or Zach Cunningham should be there. I’d take either if the three as start immediately at mlb for us

  58. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

they probably need to worry about a def coordinator before they worry about the draft.

    • D's avatar D says:

Who they get likely sets the tone for defensive targets. If we get someone new and they go a different direction with the defense, then I’d expect us to do some targeting in FA that will ki D of set the tone for who we target in the draft

  59. D's avatar D says:

I think we could get a MLB in the first three rounds this year that could start over Alonzo. It’s a really deep draft for that position

    • Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

isn’t Cunningham a more natural OLB. I can’t see him inside. Alonso may be out of position but he has great instincts and heart. A LB who can cover seems to be a HUGE need. NE and Pitt destroyed us in this area. Dion Jordan is not gonna be that guy. LOL

  60. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Bri

I know brother, I just didn’t want to hear it before the game. 🙂

I knew deep down you were right, but I can’t think about that sh*t when we’re playing in the playoffs finally

I don’t know, Herd. I’m inclined to think that it’s a western Penn “ain’t that cute” kind of comment. lol

  62. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

There is Raekwon McMillan 6’2 240 as a middle thumper.

  63. If I’m the Phins I’m keeping an eye on Stephone Anthony’s situation in New Orleans. After a tremendous rookie year, being the first Saint’s rookie to record over 100 tackles since Rickey Jackson and adding one sack, one int and two forced fumbles the Saints, in their infinite wisdom, decided to move him from MLB to SOLB; a position he NEVER played.
Anthony struggled there and although he played in 10 games he only started 3 and only recorded 3 tackles.
Saints have dismissed several members of their coaching staff and just like Kenny Stills have a tough time managing the talent they have on their team for some reason.
If Anthony is going to be cut or dealt I think he should be a priority for us to go after since he solves our issue at the MLB position.

  64. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Hilarious moment leaving the stadium. Walking down the street. Some steeler fan is being obnoxious. Getting in my face. So I flipped him off. Then he’s trying to say he’s sorry but not in a genuine tone. And that’s when he walked into a lamppost. I saw it coming. Could have warned him. But I didn’t. Lol

  65. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

you want to get rid of the best defensive player we have on the team because of what he’s paid, yet you’re okay with keeping a qb who is even more overpaid than he is?

can you show me where i ever said that. nice try but your blind hate for the qb doesnt mean you get to say things i never said. i am fine with replacing both of them with better cheaper players, problem is finding them. finding a cheaper d linemen is easier then finding a qb

YOUNG STANGER: Think I could see your humble abode from the Hilton on S.E. 17th Street Causeway!! Our big convention advertised quit a bit on local TV —you may have seen some of the ads. (“QUITE” a bit.)
    ——————
Left the convention around 1:45 or so and the Fins were already down 14-0 early in the game. -Shut radio off!! Turned it back on later and the score was 20-3. Turned it off again and left it off! –My heart was with the Fins but I saw no way our beat up team could win when they got down early.
    ——————
GET THIS TEAM HEALTHY; Get at least ONE and preferably TWO more stud starting O-Linemen, a larger, faster, stronger Middle LB (move Kiko outside) and one more solid D-Back and we’ll be on our way to the playoffs next season. Want to see somebody’s reaction when Tanny leads Fins to 1st playoff win since 2000! – – For first time in Ross era, I’m optimistic about NEXT SEASON! Yeah — game was pretty much over in the mid-third Q, but hard to complain about what this group did this year. Finally have a coach, lots of cap room and a draft to come. Owner aside, future looks good.

That building is going to be a condo place, and will be the tallest building in the city at I believe 42 stories (but think they are about done on the height though). Even if that is the biggest one, been a number of buildings going up downtown. Think with Miami getting so built up and pricey that at least some eyes are turning to Lauderdale.

  86. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

‘Yeah — game was pretty much over in the mid-third Q, but hard to complain about what this group did this year.’

you guys have been beaten up so much as fans over the years that you accept the slightest improvements. there is/are lots to complain about this team. did you not just watch them get dismantled by a playoff team. this team is far from contending.

but hey if you are happy with where they are then more power to you as a fan.

  87. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Turnovers killed us. Again it was about big plays from playmakers. The Steelers gift wrapped getting us back into the game and we fucked it it up every time (3 times).

Can we move on from Moore being a better QB than Tannehill? He’s choppy in his footwork and slow against pressure. He’s a backup QB so at some point can we come back to reality? LOL

We’re playing this next week if we had Tannehill. He’s just better than Moore, That said, our defensive backfield is a mish mosh of ineptitude. No cohesiveness what soever. Guys picking each other off, getting in the way of each other. We need a major defensive upgrade in the offseason but we already knew that.

  88. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

i was wondering who would be the first to say we would have won with thill, just never thought it would be tim.

tim, i dont really think one can say we would have won with thill. the defense was so god awful to day who would know what thill could have done. this like all games was a team loss, moore sucked but he isnt the only one who sucked. sure didnt see the 497 billion dollar d line doing anything

  89. D's avatar D says:

Cunningham played inside at vandy. They moved him all over but he manned the middle primarily

  90. D's avatar D says:

McCaffrey is going to wind up being a crash Jensen kind of player, flexing in and out of all kinda spots

  91. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Tanny is 3-0 vs Pitt, so yeah, we would’ve been better with him in the game.
I look forward to him coming back strong next season. Give him a good complimentary Defense and watch that kid really flourish along with Ajayi & Co.

  92. D's avatar D says:

I don’t think you can say we would have won with thill because QB play wasn’t why we lost.

We didn’t play disciplined football and we had to be almost perfect in that respect to have won. We couldn’t afford any turnovers, or a bunch of damaging penalties, and we had both. We needed at least some help from STs and though Drake got a couple good returns, we needed a score. Our offense didn’t have to stud out but it had to pick up firsts, and have some balance to it. It didn’t have it. Our defense couldn’t afford big plays and we have up handfuls of them.

Those are the reasons we lost and it wouldn’t have been any different with Tanny.

  93. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Finally made it home and got out of a million layers. Game was disappointing for sure, but I’m glad I went. My sister and I had a great time in spite of that wicked cold. And it was a surprising season, I never thought at about week 5 I would be going to a playoff game. I think we may be on to something with this team…finally!

    • D's avatar D says:

For sure, our team has a completely different feel about it now. Still it’s has to carry over to next year and the next, so I’m happy with them but we gotta keep grinding

      • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I think they will, these guys play hard, you don’t really see them giving up like you have with some of them in the past. If we had had everyone healthy, might have been a different outcome. But I am optimistic…as always.

  94. D's avatar D says:

I’m excited about draft this yeR like any other but I’m excited to see us fill some holes this time and not so hung up on us finding a guy to bring a spark, one guy I feel we just have to have to get us moving in the right direction. It’s a feeling I’m not use to, but I’m glad to finally have a year where I can focus more on adding talent as well as starting to build some depth.

Wasn’t the DL that was allowing Leveon to squirt through the tiniest flipping seams. LBs and CBs were the biggest part of that loss. Alonzo did what he could but with that fucking club on his hand. I know we didn’t have better option but a LB with that on his hand is about half as effective, there is just no way around it. CBs were awful in run support and got blocked down field so easily it was stupid.

I’m happy with what we did as a team this year, I’m not happy with the game but I pretty much knew it was coming. I held out some hope we would really play a respectable game, solid in both sides but not great. I held out some hope we might get a couple breaks in the game and had an outside chance of pulling out a win. This team was capable of winning we just didn’t play our best to give us that opportunity.

Our receivers played pretty poorly as well, Landry wasn’t his normal consistent self, dropped a couple passes. Parker looked off too. Stills was only one that seemed to be really on point. Did they even throw to the TEs? I can’t remember one pass to a TE.

I don’t think we won if Tannehill played. I’m not sure if we would have won if Reshad and Isa were healthy, and Pouncey too, but it may have been a lot closer. The good thing is, we get all of them back next season, although not sure about Pouncey, or Isa for that matter. I’d like to get a bigger safety than Isa, we need some thumpers on this team.

I did not say we would’ve won with Tanny, because we all saw how bad the Defense got pushed around….but he would’ve done better if healthy enough to play. But, hindsight. 2017 will be a good year for him & the Phins.

    Go Phins!
