2017 NFL Draft – Safeties and the Best of the Rest

I’ve gone over the major needs positions in the last few weeks (OL, DE, LB, CB), and today I’m going to kind of give you the best of the rest. Today I’ll look at safeties, DT’s, and a couple of TE’s. I can’t believe the draft is TOMORROW! We’ve talked and discussed all these prospects for months and months and now it will all be over in one long weekend. I hope we ALL enjoy the draft, and it gives us a lot more optimism heading into the 2017 season.

Malik Hooker S 6’1” 206 Ohio State

76006_h

We know the guy has talent, but he’s basically a one year wonder. Hooker played in 6 games his Freshman season, and then really put himself on the map with a great Sophomore season, starting 13 games for Ohio St. He finished with 74 tackles (43 solo), 5.5 TFL’s, 4 passes defensed, and a whopping 7 INT’s (3 returns for TD’s). Obviously Hooker has off the charts ball skills, but he is a prospect that is still very new at the safety position, and still has a lot of learning to do as to how to play the position. He will likely be off the board before we pick, but you never know. Hooker was unable to perform at the combine and his pro day due to having sports hernia and labrum surgeries. He is the top rated safety on NFL.com at 6.7

Jabrill Peppers  S  5’11” 213  Michigan

26_5130976

Polarizing figure for sure. Some here think he’s the best thing sliced bread. Others feel he’s a man without a true position. In any case, the guy has terrific athletic ability. He was used in various ways at Michigan, and in some ways, the fact that he didn’t get to concentrate on one position may have hurt him with some teams, and helped him with others that seek his versatility. Peppers started his Sophomore and Junior years. He finished his last year with 66 tackles (46 solo), 13 TFL’s, 3 sacks, 1 pass defensed, and 1 INT. So what you see here are not elite safety stats, and the 1 pass defensed and 1 INT indicate coverage is not his best suit. Possibly not his fault due to the way he was used, more like a LB near the LOS. In any case, as it’s been said by many experts, his best chance to succeed will be for a team that has a specific plan for him. Peppers did very well at the combine (besides the drug test), running a 4.46 40. He happens to be an elite return man, and that’s a plus for him as well, but I don’t think he’s a guy you just throw out there as a safety and expect him all of a sudden to be able to cover. NFL.com has Peppers rated at 6.06.
Oh, and Peppers was found to have a diluted drug test sample at the combine, which means once he signs, he will be in the NFL’s substance abuse program. He was just thirsty, give the guy a break, will ya! Anyone remember the last Gibril?
****************************************************

Budda Baker  S  5’10” 195  Washington

Washington Arizona Football

Baker was a 3 YR starter for the Huskies. His Junior season, Budda finished up with 70 tackles (48 solo), 9.5 TFL’s, 3 sacks, 5 passes defensed, 1 FF, and 2 INT’s. Baker is a former HS sprinter, and he did well at the combine, running a 4.45, a 6.76 cone, and a 4.08 20 yard shuttle. Budda is definitely undersized, and I’m sure many wonder if he can hold up in the NFL. Definitely too small to match up with TE’s, Baker maybe a deep safety who can also play some small nickel. The guy has tons of heart, and likes to mix it up, but I’d be worried about his size, which is nearly maxed out at 195 lbs. NFL.com has Baker rated at 5.91
****************************************************

Obi Melifonwu  S  6’4” 224  Connecticut

NCAA Football: Temple at Connecticut

Help us Obi Meli Fonwu! You’re our only hope! 4 YR starter at Connecticut. Obi finished his Senior season with 118 tackles (73 solo), 3 passes defensed, 1 FR, and 4 INT’s. This guy is a freak athlete. Ran a 4.4 40, jumped out of the combine with a 44” vertical, and nearly set the broad jump world record with a 144” jump. OK, so he has elite size and athleticism. What could be wrong? He’s a little slow to react what he’s seeing, and hasn’t shown good instincts. He does however, have the size to match up very well with TE’s, and that’s the type of defender I’ve been looking at for quite some time. He’s compared to the Bengals safety George Iloka who I pined for here in that draft, but he’s Iloka on steroids. He may not be ready to start now, he may take time to develop, but I’d love to see this kid on the Dolphins. NFL.com has Obi rated at 5.77
****************************************************

Josh Jones  S  6’1” 220  N.C. State

1609878

3 YR starter at NC State, Jones completed his Junior season totaling 109 tackles, (62 solo), 4 TFL’s, 1 sack, 8 passes defensed, 1 FF, 1 FR, and 3 INT’s. Jones has great size and speed, and showed up well at the combine running a 4.41 40. Very aggressive player with excellent leaping ability to challenge receivers. Loves to hit, but sometimes foregoes proper wrap up technique and looks to just lay the lumber. Can play in the box or in CF. I like his size and attitude, and could be a nice 2nd or 3rd RD pick. NFL.com has Jones rated at 5.88
****************************************************

Malik McDowell  DT/DE  6’6” 295  Michigan St.

12.05.15_MSU FTBL VS IOWA (BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME)

Has played both DE and DT, and will likely continue to do so in the NFL. That kind of versatility will only help him. 3 YR starter, McDowell in his Junior year totaled 34 tackles (20 solo), 7 TFL’s, and 1.5 sacks. Not very explosive, the big guy ran well enough posting a 4.85 40 at 295 lbs. Only put up 23 reps, but he’s got those long arms. Interesting prospect with elite size, He needs a lot of coaching, and probably endurance training. He fades away at times during games, and is it heart, or exhaustion? Some scouts think he can be a dominant player, so he may be in play for us. Most likely a 1st RD pick. NFL.com has McDowell rated at 6.22
****************************************************

Chris Wormley DT/DE  6’5” 298  Michigan

chris-wormley

Another versatile big man who can play both inside and outside. Wormley was a 4 YR starter at Michigan, and finished his last season with 36 tackles (18 solo), 7.5 TFL’s, and 5.5 sacks. Wormley didn’t perform at the combine because of a hamstring injury, but did very well at his pro day. Wormley ran a 4.86 40, a 4.59 20 yard shuttle, a 1.62 10 yard dash. and a 31.5” vertical.  Needs to work on his pass rushing skills (as many prospects do) His defensive coordinator loved the kid, so that’s a plus. Good leader with good character. NFL.com has Wormley rated at 5.83
****************************************************

Montravius Adams DT  6’4” 304  Auburn

Montravius-Adams-by-Kenny-Moss-DSC-5537_gz1dk9

4 YR starter at Auburn. Turned in an impressive season, totaling 43 tackles (26 solo), 8 TFL’s, 4 sacks, 1 FF, 2 FR’s, and 2 passes defensed, and 1 INT. Played his last season with an improved motor compared to his Junior season. Not necessarily a starter at the moment, could be a good rotational guy at the present. NFL.com has Adams rated at 5.68
****************************************************

Bucky Hodges TE  6’6” 257  VA Tech

54d7a5200fab7.image

3 YR starter at VA Tech, Hodges has the prototypical TE size. Hodges totaled 48 receptions for 691 yards for a 14.4 YPC avg, and hauled in 7 TD’s in his Junior season. Hodges ran an impressive 4.57 40, an equally impressive 39” vertical and 134” broad jump. This kid is obviously an excellent athlete who can make the high point catch. Not a great route runner, and is a converted QB. Needs to hit the weight room too, not very powerful at the present. Still, he offers definite potential down the line, and wouldn’t be a bad choice if the Dolphins are truly looking for a TE in this draft. NFL.com has Hodges rated at 5.72
****************************************************

Jeremy Sprinkle TE  6’5” 252  Arkansas

Arkansas+v+Auburn+xynke5rh3_sl

Sprinkle was a 3 YR starter at Arkansas. In his Senior season, Sprinkle finished with 33 receptions for 380 yards for an 11.5 YPC, and 4 TD’s. Besides being a good receiver, Sprinkle is also an accomplished blocker. Has long arms to keep defenders off, and is a willing blocker. Has run after catch ability and flashes a good stiff arm. Needs to hit the gym, but lots of prospects do. A good mid RD pick if we’re looking for a TE. NFL.com has Sprinkle rated at 5.54
****************************************************

Remember, the draft begins at 8PM on Thursday, 4/27. Don’t miss it, and if you’re working a 13 hour day like me, you’ll STILL have time to get home and relax (YEAH RIGHT!) before we pick at #22. I have to say, we all have our opinions here, and I value all of yours, really. Just because we don’t agree on everything doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate and respect each other. Enjoy the draft, GO DOLPHINS, and ZERO IN!

I don’t think so either, and I don’t Reddick will be either. I’d almost bet Reddick goes before Foster.
    —————————-
I think this is the point at which Reddick definitely evens the playing field with Foster. I think before, hands down, Foster is the first selected, now, adding more risk to his portfolio, he balances out some of the smaller school, lesser competition question people might have about Reddick. I also think it really helps Jarrad Davis who was pretty equal comparison with Foster as far as athletic ability, etc. It balances out his injuries with Fosters concerns. Im feeling there might be a pretty close tie as to whom might be taken 1st 2nd or 3rd between those 3.

    Want: Derek Barnett
    Take: Taco Charlton

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I’m close in that I took Harris

I really don’t want us to draft Taco who I don’t think offers much in terms of a pass rush

    • D's avatar D says:

Id take Charles Harris too, he’s a solid player, infact he was Reddick before Reddick showed off some at Senior Bowl. Big difference between the two is that Harris is more DE, but can play as a rush LB. Reddick is more of a rush LB who could potentially play DE.

I think though Harris would be the more true hybrid guy if you wanted someone who could play either pretty well, and were going to flip them around a good bit. Reddick would probably be the one you would want if you wanted to focus at LB and just occasionally flip the DE out wide and have Reddick play over the tackle.

I think it’s good to see such a wide web/variety being cast by us bloggers as to who we want and who we think we’ll take.

Somebody is going to end up EXTREMELY happy before the night is over!

  15. D's avatar D says:

I absolutely did not want Taco in the first, and i think Lou may be able to confirm this, if he can think back that far. Lou made me really look hard at Taco because i kept watching the tape and thinking that Wormley and the other DT just made Taco look good, but the more i looked the more i saw a true DE. I know you guys think that DE is all about pass rush, but they have a much bigger role in a 4-3. Its true he isnt a quick twitch rusher like Wake (thats more Barnett or Harris) but he is a really good true 4-3 DE. He supports the run well, he stays at home on plays he is suppose to and he can help clog the middle on rushes by forcein his blocker down the line, making the runner bounce it outside, many times right to him. Im also not seeing a guy who is deficient in pass rushing either, he just isnt the kinda we are use to with Wake, thats nto a bad thing its just a different thing. I still see a guy capable of double digit sacks.

  16. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    D-Bolt

Have to say, I’d be happy with Davis. I think he would be great here.

  17. D's avatar D says:

DBolt, Cunningham has long been a favorite of mine, going back to while the college season was still going on, but i definitely think Cunningham isnt a punishing a defender as Foster or Davis. He gets bigger, like a good 15 lbs of muscle bigger and they are closer to comparable. I think Cunningham’s instincts are a little better and he is more of a guy who handles his business despite not having much to support him, but i also think Davis is the superior leader.

His leadership was felt big time on a team full of great defensive players. Sure its eazy to see Zach Cunningham missing on Vandy’s defense, it would have crumbled because thats all he had, but the fact the UF defense significantly suffered, despite having top players at almost every position shows you hbe brings more to the table than just his ability as the player. That was a very under appreciated thing about Davis.

I guess what im saying is i think Davis would be the better selection, and Cunningham the better alternative in that scenario.

  18. D's avatar D says:

I could see Harris or Davis as the first pick, and i could see Tabor or Tankersly as our second. I kind of hope we go OG in the second but i know they have met with both those guys and it looks like by people they have brought in for visits they are definitely looking at a CB early.

  19. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Phillips hasn’t played lazy for us. Most of his issues are conditioning to play more snaps, and more quality snaps, not from lack of effort. The man is 6-6 335 so it’s not that easy to do. He’s been training with Suh so hopefully he’s better conditioned this year and improves his overall game. He does have dominant ability.

You usually hear about lack of motor or work ethic from big guys and usually DL. I think it’s usually about how hard it is to move a big body around for a lot of snaps. Not saying some guys just don’t have the passion, and if that’s the case with McDowell and our FO feels that way about him they won’t take him. But again, he has dominant ability. They said the same thing about Daryl Gardener and was pretty good for us, dominant at times.

    • D's avatar D says:

They had him for a private workout, i dont think that means they dont like him. Some of these guys just havent had the chance to understand that they cant get by on their naturl gifts and they have to work at it. Phillips learned that last year, he is working on it this offseason so even if McDowell doesnt come in year on knowing that, its likely he will get the idea somewhere along the way when he is sucking wind and getting pulled out of games because of it. Lazy is much deeper than that, its more selfishly driven, because you have a guy who is part of a team all of which are expect to give their best and he sell them short for his own personal satisfaction. I dont know which is the case with McDowell but im pretty sure after interviews and working him out, they have a good idea which it is. Once is correctable, the other maybe is maybe isnt.

Anzalone is also going quite a bit later in the draft, probably late 2nd or 3rd RD
    ——————————–
Yeah i wasnt suggesting him as the first roun pick, but i do think he wont last until the 3rd when we pick.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yeah, I wasn’t saying you thought he would go 1st RD, just stressing the value you get when you take him in the 3rd. He’s just been unlucky with injuries, he may never be injured again.

  21. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I could see 10-12 different prospects being our pick. It’s not easy to hone in on anyone at #22.

  22. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Who am I?

    I’m 6’2″, 250 pounds, 4.59 40-time, 24 BPs, 33″ VJ, and 10’02” BJ.

I put these numbers up at the Combine this year, all while having a torn labrum and a fractured glenoid bone. I still expected myself to run in the 4.4s with a higher VJ and BJ… and WILL once 100% healthy. I’ll be healthy and ready for Training Camp.

  23. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

sooooo, which QB are the Dolphins going to pick this year and in which round?

    • D's avatar D says:

I woulsnt be surprised to see a late selection, and truly wouldnt be completely floored if we wound up taking on in day 2. I dont think it would be something they would be doing to tell Tanny he was on notice either, i think just sometimes you got to keep the talent coming and maybe this is a year they decide to do it.

    ——————————–
Its more than that, its the fact we are set up to do BPA for the first time in a long time. We literally could go in many direction, there isnt as much of a we got to pick this guy or this position player. I remember us, when we selected James, and even though that was pretty close to 22, it was still a pretty obvious position we would be selecting. We might have differed on the guy, Moses, or James, but we all pretty much knew the position.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. We had to kind of reach for James due to how Ireland left the OL situation. Hickey’s first year as GM – signed Albert, drafted James in the 1st and Turner in the 3rd. That’s what I consider holes, when you don’t have enough guys to even play. That’s how bad our OL situation was then. It’s not as dire now. Pouncey is the wildcard, will he get past his hip issues?

  25. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

If there’s one player in this draft that seems he’ll be a Fin….I think It’s Dietrich Wise.

  26. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I don’t know who you are, but if you have a VJ you must need GIGANTIC tampons.

  27. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

    D,
In regards to Cunningham vs Davis…I think Davis is the stronger tackler, but I think Zach has the better instincts and she’d blocks much better.

  28. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I like Amanda Peet. I just used Charles Durning to give you guys a laugh. I think Amanda Peet is hot! You guys ever watch the show “Brockmire” on IFC? Tim, you would get a kick out of it, he’s like Lindsey Nelson

  29. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

The top two mocksters at ESPN have spoken….even obviously at least one is wrong.

Kiper – Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama
McShay — Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA

  30. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I don’t remember who it was, maybe a couple of people here who don’t believe Jarrad Davis is a 1st rd pick. Yet almost every mockster or pundit says he is and will be. I would not be surprised at all if he’s our pick. He’s a box LB who plays downhill and sideline to sideline and also has pass rush ability. Not that he’d be a pass rusher for us in our 4-3, but more as an occasional blitzer. I would have no problem with him as our pick. He’d likely play a lot right away even if he doesn’t start or play all 3 downs early on. I do think he’ll be a 3 down starter in his career at some point and a good one.

  31. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mike, Amanda Peet is attractive, but frankly, and do not take this anyway other than a compliment to her, I think your wife is better looking.

I think so, because they have been all over him all year.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      3rd rd?

      • D's avatar D says:

Could be, i have seen him ranked all over the place. I think 3rd to early 4th is kinda what i think of him. He is pretty damn impressive when you watch his tape, not shock and awe kinda stuff just solidly impressive.

  33. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

D, as for QB I think it really depends on how they feel about Doughty heading into his 2nd season. We have 4 as of now after signing Fales. Only so many reps to go around. They would really have to like a QB to take one day 2.

    • D's avatar D says:

I have heard they really like the dude out of Miami Kaaya. It could be a complete rumor but thats what i heard. It would be a NE taking Garopolo move. They had a QB they felt like would be there for a lot longer, they had a QB who was not needing to be replaced, and still they took a QB they liked in the second. If by time the QB is ready we have a need for him, well there he will be, and if not we have someone to trade.

Only thing we have is we sould use that second on another position, we arent at the luxury point of NE where a 2nd pick can be seen that way, but again, its about what they see in the prospect. Id be shocked for sure to see them use a 2nd or 3rd on a QB, but i wouldnt just be floored, because thats kinda where we are starting to get to, a position where we are drafting for the future not for the present, and that could happen this year, though i expect it would more likely start happening after couple more years of things settling out for us.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’d roll with Moore and Doughty one more year as depth and maybe look at a QB next year. But that’s just me.

    Tim,
I’m not a fan of Davis in RD1. I can’t deny his physical gifts though.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s cool, everyone has their preferences. I’ve kind of stopped getting too caught up in favorites because you see so many surprises every year and guys you thought were good are not so good, and guys who people were lukewarm about go on to be really good. All I care about is whoever we do pick, that they make an impact and make us a better team.

      • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

Exactly. If Miami drafted I’m fully pulling for him and won’t let my personal assessment of the player get in the way. As I’ve stated plenty of times before, these teams have so much more info than us so I won’t question their decision or act like I know better.

    • D's avatar D says:

I think sometimes a thing or two makes us nervous about a guy and we just lock on to it. I dont like Takk for similar reasons.

  37. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

    D,
The funny thing about Wise is he tested out similarly to Taco and some of the larger DE’s who are labeled as athletic & yet they label put on him was not athletic😆. In Wise what I’ve seen is a big DE ho can set the edge and easily separate from blockers using his crazy long arms. He’s refined in controlling the LOS, has a good motor, & has a crazy burst to the QB. Has good ability to flatten to the QB also. Needs to develop a few more counters in his pass rush, but has really good tools to be a long time starter in the league. Will never be confused with the quick twitch rushers like Wake, Miller etc. he’ll be more online like some of the big DE’s you’ve seen play for the Pat’s. I think Andre Carter would help him immensely.

    D,
The funny thing about Wise is he tested out similarly to Taco and some of the larger DE’s who are labeled as athletic & yet they label put on him was not athletic😆.
    ———————————————
Actually DBolt thats about what i see in him is a slightly lesser version of Taco. He’s also strong enough that they could roll him in between G and T as a DT for the max rush downs, or sliding the DT over the OC and bringing a LB up to the outside shoulder of the T. He’s pretty versatile and brutish power rusher.

    • D's avatar D says:

Ive been a fan of his for a while now too, dont forget im the SEC guy lol.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I could see us drafting a stout DE and an speed edge guy in this draft. We have a good DL room for young guys to be mentored. We also want to upgrade the depth so it makes sense.

  49. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

what ever happened to Tinshaker? I don’t recall seeing him ever since the old SS days or his blog. (which is still up by the way, just not updated since 2011. the funny thing is the last article posted on Tinsfins was a guest article by Son)

    http://tinsfins.blogspot.com/

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He and his wife had a baby, he moved for a new job, he had very creepy emails and comments made toward him and his family and said I can’t be bothered. He emailed me years ago even after he stopped blogging to warn me that someone might have hacked my email. But it wasn’t, just a creepy bastard pretending to be me.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Rock — not sure about what happened to Tinshaker, but at the Fest can tell you the saga at that point. Features Gigi, Walker and NJ as the leads, with TIn in a supporting role. Talking about other people we haven’t seen in a while.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

What do you mean Tin in a supporting role? He went to a fest?

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Actually take that all back — was thinking NJ’s buddy/relative who started his own site, but no doubt there was a story in that one. Tinshaker was cool.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

TIm — TNphinfan’s site was talking about. You were there, but still my bad.

  50. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Sounds like takk is gonna be slipping because of injury concerns. He’ll probably be there at 22.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He had offseason shoulder surgery ala DionFF but I still see some mocksters have him going in the middle of the 1st.

      • D's avatar D says:

I have seen him any where from 1st round to very early third round. Pretty common to see people having him going in the second round though.

  51. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

  52. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Ahhh NJ who had more and better of everything than everyone else…

“I just bought a new house”
“oh, yeah? will I just bought two houses”

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

NJ was one of a kind for sure. He met up with a bunch of the guys for a Phins v Jets game. He is an interesting guy….and hard not to like too unless a spoiled romance was involved.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I met him in NYC at a bar for a Raiders game in 2010 I believe, along with Mike, Ken, Piggy, Al and Mike’s nephew. It was a good time and NJ is a good guy. His online persona was more JK/BB than he really is as a person. Mike can attest to this.

  53. D's avatar D says:

As far as pairing DE’s with a prototype plus a pass rush specialist, i could see Taco and Smoot as a really good combo. One is a 1st round and the other 3-5th. Daeshon Hall and Cox Jr would be another decent combo if you wanted/needed to shift down a couple rounds on either pick. You could flip it and go speed first and power second, like Barnett with Kpassagnon.

  54. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Funny Tinshakers name comes up now. It was on my FB page yesterday because it said it was his bday. I wasn’t FB friends with him but the FB page for the blog but he changed it at some point and has what I presume is his name on it. Anyway is married with a son and a daughter.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Cool, so they had a daughter too. I know his son was first. He had a unique sense of humor that I enjoyed.

  55. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Stanger, you talking about TennPhin or something like that? He wasn’t NJ’s relative, just another fan who NJ connected with being that his family had roots in TEN and a restaurant he’s now part of there.

I know what you’re talking about though. TennPhin put up a temporary site while the SS was becoming a paywall until Walker’s site was done and Gigi and Walker thought he was trying to subvert it. It was all very childish. And as we all know now the entire thing imploded.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Funny all the bumps there have been along the way, but today is draft day. Plenty of time to go over history later (even if it started cause I got confused). Real happy we got Pig, Mike E, Ken, Herd, Son etc running the place now though. Funny how in the long term the adults are the ones who do better.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah but don’t you know tonight you’re going to hear there’s been a trade. Miami trades out of the 1st rd for a 2nd and 3rd rd pick in the 2017 draft, also a 2018 1st rd pick. LOL

Getting all the personal stuff out and looking to rent it at least seasonal. The family is keeping the two homes, gotta rebuild the one up north. We met with an architect on the shore house last week. So that’s in the early stages. There is still a lot of emotions too fresh for happy time vacations. We’ve all got a lot on our plate right now.

So for now I get away from the sadness with seeing family and friends here and there, music and blogging about the Phins. 🙂

I have thought it yes, and it has really scared me to think how legitimately the thought seemed.

It goes kind of like this, Cleveland with the 12th pick in the first round has traded their pick to New England, New England is on the clock…….New England with the 12th pick in the first round selects OJ Howard TE University of Alabama………… The worst part later is finding out all they gave up was Jimmy G, and actually they also got Cleveland to give up a couple more picks in later rounds to round out the difference lol.

  94. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I was just listening to NFL radio, and the guest, not sure who it was (former Ravens GM), was asked what player may tumble some in the 1st RD, and his answer was Derek Barnett, because he doesn’t have the measurables either size wise or speed, said he’s excellent at hand fighting, but that will be much tougher to win in the pros, so he said Derek Barnett. He thought Foster will be gone by #15

Barnett is this year’s version of Marco Coleman back in 1992. Not a great athlete or speed guy but good at what he does. He was solid for us but went on to be better with the Redskins like Jeff Lageman did from the Jets to the Jags.
