For many players still currently on the 2017 Miami Dolphins Roster, this final preseason game, and how they play in it, will determine if they remain on the roster, or are removed from it. Some bubble players may have already done enough to stay, but others have to fight tooth and nail, and try to show something extraordinary in their last opportunity, preseason Game #4.
Some of the decision comes to down to how many players can they carry at any certain position. Do we go with 5 or 6 WR’s? How many OL do we carry, 8 or 9?We’ll probably have 4 RB’s, but are those 4 RB’s currently on the roster now, or do we pick one up? Do we take 6 CB’s or 7? I wrote a list, and man, it gets tough. I figure we only bring 2 QB’s, we did that the last couple of years, so figure we do that again. I can see us carrying 6 WR’s if they fear Stringfellow would get poached, but I’m not even sure they’re enamored with him enough to feel that way. I would like to keep him though.
On defense, we know who the likely starters on the D-line are, and I say likely only because there’s still some doubt as to whether it’s God-show or Jordan Phillips. The guys behind the starters are muddled. We know William Hayes and the loser of the 2nd DT spot are in, but then there’s Okoye, Williams, Fede, and you know Charles Harris is in, but the depth at DT and DE are somewhat up in the air.

So who gets cut next?
Also remember, we have 2 players who are eligible to come back after week 8, OG Ted Larsen (I/R), and S T.J. McDonald (SUSP) Both can make a positive impact for our team. Hopefully the O-line is doing well enough that Larsen isn’t so missed, and the same for Nate Allen at S, that T.J. McDonald isn’t desperately needed. If all is well, both can slowly be integrated back into the team.
Will Matt Darr hold off Matt Haack? Will God-show hold onto the starting DT spot next to Suh? Is Jesse Davis for real, and will he start at LG? Is Maxwell really in danger of losing his starting job? Is our 4th RB currently on the roster? Questions that may or not be answered after Preseason game #4. Some of them may have already been determined by the coaches and front office, but while this last game is meaningless to some, it’s life or death (Dolphins roster life) for others.

Mark clayton- lives in houston now.wow
In 2003, he entered the Miami Dolphins Ring of Honor, along with fellow “Marks Brother”, Mark Duper on December 15, 2003. On June 20, 2014 it was announced that Clayton would be inducted into the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame.[2]
In 2005, he helped punctuate Marino’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction speech by running through the crowd and catching one last pass from the legend thrown from the stage.
He is one of only three players in the history of the NFL who has caught a touchdown pass from both Dan Marino and Brett Favre during the NFL regular season. The others are Keith Jackson and Mark Ingram.
He now lives in Houston, Texas.
Larry Little went undrafted, as did Arian Foster and Wes Welker (all former Phins).
The list goes on. My only counter on UDFAs is the comment they don’t go undrafted for a reason. They do. There is a reason for everything. LOL
should have never questioned the football sponge man on all football matters.

OUCH. That SUCKS.
Manzeil has a yr of eligibility left!!
Finding out facts on the internet isn’t that hard. You have a library in your home now. Think about that.
Lol. Because we all know that everything you read on the internet is true
Missing the point. Not hard to find out what round guys were drafted in. That’s history, not editorial commentary based on opinions.
Well, it’s all opinions. Guys go undrafted and you hear all the time when one doesn’t make it “well, that’s why he went undrafted”. Yet, our roster has been loaded with undrafted free agents for years now and when someone makes that comment it’s all done in hindsight because they don’t know any better
I think you’re missing the point I was making. My original comment had to do with people making the comment “well, that’s why he went undrafted” when a player doesn’t make it. It has nothing to do with the fact that a person can look up what round a player went in.
I can care less about that. I’m saying that when a person makes that statement they’re saying it like they knew the guy wasn’t going to make it when they hadn’t a clue.
So, the fact that the team has 12 players who were udfa’s, plus other teams as well, kind of puts that argument to rest. A couple years ago we had over 20 at one point.
You two have to be the most stuborn posters, whenever someone proves you wrong you both change the subject.
new PK played at Jupiter High near Miami and went to Auburn. He has hit 81/82 PATs and 55/65 FGs. which is 85%.
He set a new NFL rookie scoring record with 150 points for Philly and made the Pro Bowl that year.
From what I can tell, Reilly would not be practice squad eligible, as he appeared in 29 games for the jests. I might be wrong though.
The Raiders used Shilique Calhoun as a DE last season… I think that was a good idea to see if he could get it done at DE. But those of us who were high on him last year were having FITS trying to figure out if he should be a DE or a LB.
Pick him up and try him as a WILL-backer. He’s eligible for the PS. Low risk, HIGH REWARD.
Here we go, Dion Jordan all over again. LOL
Doughty must be really good at being the Scout team QB. It takes a special guy to learn a new offense every week and pretend to be and do the things the new opponent QB would do so our guys can learn his habits and fave plays etc.
Plus you don’t get paid nearly as much, so it takes a guy who is just happy to be a pro player and maybe get a shot in the future. Maybe as he becomes a grown man and grows into his height and is not so skinny anymore he will get a stronger arm.
But i doubt he will ever be a starter in this league.
I mean you wouldn’t want someone other teams would poach cause the PS QB knows all your secrets.
Naples and all,

Thanks.
I still don’t have enough information to decide if almost any given veteran guy is eligible although of course with the new rooks, they are ALL eligible,
It doesn’t help that they tweak the rules every year.
The fun thing about the internet is you can get all these genius to look up on the internet for you. LOL’ and then comment about it which makes a double dose for our fun. Thanks Tim for being a good sport…..

I don’t see that at all. Calhoun doesn’t have the head problems that Jordan had/has. I DO hear what ya mean though with Calhoun’s “tweener” status. I don’t think he’ll disappoint as a LB/EDGE.
Allow him to clear waivers and pick him up as a PS player… cheap deal. However, I’m willing to bet the Raiders pick him back up… or Pete Carroll swoops on in to get him.
DE/LB debate. 😉
I hear ya! And how about my guy Jason Allen: S, CB, S, CB, S, CB, S, CB…
😉
He was a great athlete but not a consistently good football player. I liked him early on too. He couldn’t get it anywhere that’s why he was moved around and tried at those positions on multiple teams. Ronnie Lott and Rod Woodson were great players at both positions.

Agreed, it’s ridiculous that they do that! It’s change just for the sake of change, SMH!
Not really, they vote on rule changes, so teams ask for improvements, why is that change for change sake?
Lol JS, you said 159 hours your post was at 5:20 pm Sunday 1 week before the game, so 7 x 24 = 168 subtract an hour since the games should be over about 4-4:20pn and you get about 167 hours.

Oh, I get it now. What you’re saying is when you come on here spouting shit out like you’re an expert on the subject you went and researched it on the internet first. Now I understand. Sorry for the misunderstanding
Dude… c’mon. Let’s be cool with one another.
i think he was joking with tim like i am…..
I’m sorry man but every time you post something on here mr. fucking expert has to come back with some kind of a dumb ass comment
LOL, yeah that’s it. Sharing factual information is such a horror. Please tell us more about what the team should do according to you.
What year was Abraham Lincoln born? Uhm… I’m just going to guess and throw it out there. Someone says it was another year based on fact. Then feelings get hurt. LOL
Seriously man, it’s about a fuck’n football team. We all understand you’re a sensitive guy. But stop creating something that isn’t there. It’s in your own mind.
facts are facts, opinions are opinions. Learn the difference. Your post was stupid.
You too, Tim. C’mon… let’s be cool here. We’re all gentlemen here.

You’re the definition of “douchebag”. No fucking doubt about it.
There ya go. My post was stupid because the fucking expert of the group knows more than anyone on here. Ask him again and he’ll tell ya the same. We’re missing each other here in cyber space, LOL 🙂 . I think Jason Allen was good but not very good. I feel that moving him around so much really screwed up his development.
For whoever picks up Calhoun, they’d better figure out if he’s a DE or a LB and KEEP him there. His ceiling is still very high, he just had a bad rookie campaign. JMO.
I do not think position change was his problem.
Hate seeing Stringfellow go to the Jets
only good part is no QB there and String is not good enough to overcome that or beat us by himself.
Plus we don’t actually need him.
He runs one route we’ll, but not so good on others. He beat a scrub deep, but he won’t be affective against real CBs.
Don’t look at UDFAs as really ubdrafted, look at them as modern day late rounders, since the draft was cut to 7 rounds to give, the late round old amount of round guys, a better chance by picking their own team.
good point
LOL @ Josh Rosen’s preseason hype. He looks like crap this evening against A&M.
SO many scouts are hyping “the next BIG thing” when it comes to QBs, especially from a major school like UCLA and USC.
The Wyoming guy and the USC guy both had bad stats.
Yup, and it’s still only 1 game for all. I’m just not BIG on hype… I’d rather let the games be played and allow the best to bubble-up.
Lou, your act is old in case you haven’t noticed. You make things up in your mind and then accuse others of saying something they didn’t. You like to bring dissension to this blog. I’m talking roster and agreeing with you that UDFAs can be good, but you still find a way. How about this, get over yourself and you’re fucked up approach to communicating with people. You’re not fooling anyone.
You aren’t making things any better with your above vitriol, my friend.
Stop!
M13, go read the comments and stop giving Lou who called us all douchebags a constant mulligan.
There are people who discuss our team and share facts and opinions, and people who are personal about everything and have to start fights. Please see the fucking light! The game is old.
I’m a keeper of the peace, that’s all. I recognize my own mistakes of the past and am trying to smooth the waters before things get fugly here between two bloggers.
I’m quite appreciative that the F-MU accepted me here with open arms after everything that had transpired in the past. I’m the old M13 again… the one you met on Omar’s blog. I truly don’t want to see HATE any longer, from ANYBODY. Life is too short…
And as you can see, I called out Prof Lou… I’m NOT taking sides.
Y’all need to smoke a bong or something… whatever gets y’all to chill out! 😀
Lou was wrong this time, Tim was presenting facts, then Lou butted in and changed the subject, then the bickering went on about 2 diffetent issues. Tim take it easy you like to do the same thing Lou just did.
No I do not. I may disagree, I don’t insult people personally. I may question your actions, but starting a personal conflict is not my thing. It gets portrayed like that at times but the proof is always in the comments. I’m getting tired of it which is the goal by the way in case you don’t realize how disturbed it really is. It’s psychotic! But I’ll be okay. LOL
Wrong. I made a comment and Mr. Expert responded like he normally does. Like he knows everything.
I didn’t say anything about personal attach or insult, and Lou didn’t bring that in until the end like someone losing an argument typically does.
M13, you answered your own question. Read the comments that start it and how much of it gets ignored. Many of us have met each other in person, some of us have not. There comes a time when you have to call it out. It’s so obvious.
Yeah. It’s obvious. You have to have an answer for everyone’s comments like you know everything and they don’t. You do it ALL THE TIME. And it’s not just me. You do it to others.
Lou For what it’s worth
I like Tim’s input

DB 8
OL 7
TE 3
WR 5
QB 2
RB 4
K 1
P 1

Yeah know it all😉
Welcome to the Dolphins Cody Parkey
I’m glad your name still means something
Not sure how I feel about ditching Franks for Parker. I was not a fan Franks until he made that kick in the Buffalo game. That was money in a high pressure situation. Parker has a better career percentage but the only time I have seen him kick under pressure was against us last year and needless to say he didn’t handle the pressure well
That was his first time with that holder, not making excuses just giving him a break, he was great there after. Ken why is Parker kicking now? I didnt know he was a jack of all trades? Punctuation and spelling…
Still don’t trust him. Never had to kick under pressure. Not his fault as Cleveland stunk but we will see. Franks was consistent I get it but I like the fact when it mattered he came through
SMH…..LMAO
Why bother?! Keep feeding…..
Some people can’t not feed a troll.
Reading up on the new LB……he seems to be a Gase kind of guy. Hope his injuries are a thing of the past. He had great potential before them and coming here, he’ll definitely get an opportunity.
GO PHINS
I thought the same thing about Franks Ken; he Finally makes a huge kick late last season and we release him before the next season starts? Doesn’t make sense to me.
what about Roberto Jose Aguayo going through the confidence issue. Never saw someone (kicker) so talented go through what this kid is going through. Maybe he needs to take yr off in his hometown and practice at his old HS.
adding Parkey makes sense all around, Franks was making 1.5, Parkey 690k also Parkey has a better FG % than franks
Also looks like we picked up a linebacker from the Chiefs, Justin March
AFTER CHECKING THIS MORNING’S ADVISORY, I’D have to say the odds of Miami playing a home game on Sunday just dropped. If this forecast stays roughly the same, Ross will have to announce a new date for this game by the close of business on Wednesday. Again, playing FRIDAY makes the most sense. The sooner he makes the announcement, the better, from a planning and logistics point of view. The only other day that makes ANY SENSE AT ALL would be to play Thursday Night. THAT would require an announcement TOMORROW.
They better not change it to Friday. I don’t want to pay for a new flight.
Besides, it is still too early to tell which way it is going.
The updated track was not what we wanted to see (in Florida at least), but there are other options. One would be to shift the game to another city or just play it Week 11. That is the bye week for both teams.
now, that makes a whole lot of sense
That would suck and be a disadvantage, we need that late bye to recoup
O-Rob….wouldn’t like it but it is most likely. Means they wouldn’t have to make the call till say the day before. Also wouldn’t lose the home game ticket revenue.
Now, Stranger is the only one capable of making these innovative tough decisions. I think he should be the commissioner of football. That is of a fantasy football league.
LOL — my Commissioner Manitoba is the one I stick with. Will point out that checked out the week 11 thing on my own and it just happened to be there. Hadn’t read elsewhere. For the twitter guys it might be one that gets attention.
Oh boy
play it thursday
I believe they switched the bye week with NE which is kind of spooky that we have the same situation with Tampa Bay having the bye week the same as we do.
not sure you can play it friday as it may interfere with College, pro’s and college do not compete.
here’s a interesting article about games rescheduled—miami seem to get a lot of reschedules.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d80ac4b19/article/recent-nfl-games-forced-to-reschedule
“Kansas City at Miami game moved from Sunday, Oct. 23 to Friday, Oct. 21 due to approaching Hurricane Wilma.”
I’ll bet that is the one that OD was not just remembering but lived through.
that hiy us from west side instead of the usual east side of town.
I think we would have our PS already if it hadn’t been for Lacey and Stringfellow being signed to other teams 53. They almost certainly had to be on their sign list, praise might have been in over one of those two, or kicked out Maveluex had he not been claimed.
Who picked up Praise Martin? I did not see that.
I have the kids tomorrow so I think we will have our annual hurricane prep drills of putting up the awning, getting all the generators positioned with cords. Last couple of drills they have been slacking and their times are disappointing..
LOL
Drill Sergeant Grandpa
From where i sit there are only 3 options, !. play it Thursday. 2. play it Monday night (if the storm does not hit s.fl.) 3. play it on the Bi-week
My top option is just play it Sunday….especially since that will mean I will not be in Mike E and the Clash’s “should I stay or should I go” scenario about more than just the football game.
we wont know the potential for hitting S FL until Friday AM
Ken…Parkey was one of the best college kickers in the NCAA, which I know doesn’t mean much since Sturgis was also one of the best. It does mean, however, if he just calms himself down he could do like Sturgis and give us a really good offensive weapon. He has a powerful leg, better than Frank’s, his is just straightening out his mental game. Statistically he was already better than franks and I think he could wind up being better than he has been with a good kicking coach.
I thought the Buffalo game was a defining moment for Franks. The type of moment that kick starts his career. I would like to see how it carries over to this season
Do we have a good kicking coach?
Oklahoma St plays S Alabama on friday night, the NFL can not compete against college that is why there are no nfl games on Sat until late in the season when college is over.
OK state and S Ala (Mobile) in no way competes with a Miami market game. Is there really a law that says NFL can’t play on Friday. Even in case of hurricane?
Parker probably improves our kickoff game. I think Franks had one of the lowest percentages of touchbacks last season
Ker you’re killing me with the Parker, it’s Parkey.
Auto correct
I do think moving the game to Thursday is the best case scenario but they need to decide to do that right away of course. Then they run the risk of changing everything for nothing if the storm veers away from Miami.
Thursday’s best because we do have the longer layoff now left over from preseason rather than trying to suddenly play on Thursday after playing on Sunday during the regular season.
Plus as Ocala says above, Thursday is a NFL set day anyway, unlike Friday.
Luck still hurt, Tolzien will start vs. the Rams.
Root for the Rams so the Colts fall behind in the wild card race.
Hey D–
Who picked up Praise Martin? I did not see that.
The latest cone for Irma has it sweeping south of Florida and hitting Houston.
Shiiiiitttt.
And that would leave Naples in btwn……….but still way, way early. As of right now, will just be making sure have a full tank of gas, and that is only cause of the lines when it really comes to when that precaution makes sense.

ONE of the spaghetti models has Irma going right over Cuba and staying over Cuba from Gitmo to Havana before curving north and hitting the west coast of Florida from Naples up to Tampa Bay. I have NOT seen a single model that takes Irma either to Texas or Louisiana. All the models have Irma curving to the north, then the northeast. The big question is WHEN will the projected curve to a northerly path take place? An early curve takes the storm over the Bahamas and in the general direction of the Carolina coast. A later curve to the north has Irma hitting around the Miami area them up the eastern Florida coastline. A still later curve northward brings Irma up the western coast of Florida. It now seems highly probable that Irma will hit Florida SOMEWHERE, thus necessitating a change in the kickoff date of the Fins/Bucs game. But I’ve seen hurricanes make some truly wild changes in direction at the very last moment. Hurricane Matthew (in 2016) was dead on course for a direct hit on West Palm Beach only to shift at the last moment and, instead, hitting Freeport, Grand Bahama, with triple digit winds, sparing the Palm Beaches!! It DOES HAPPEN!
OD — right now am at the make sure have a full tank of gas stage, but only cause saw the lines when that actually made sense last time around. But for sure anything can happen.
But can’t controlled that. More worried about the opener at this point. Did you catch above that Tampa and the Phins both have their byes in week 11?

There are five teams out there who have yet to announce their PSs. I’d be willing to bet that Praise Martin-Oguike was claimed by one of those teams.
He lead the Dolphins in preseason tackles until Allen went crazy during the Minny game and had a sack as well. I think.

Bills sign Joe Webb to back up rookie Nathan Peterman at QB.
New Bills GM came from Carolina so he knows Webb.
Both the Bills starter and back-up are in concussion protocol.
Glad my team is not grasping at straws at the most important position on the field.
Or is not the Jets grasping for straws at every position on the field
Both the Jets and Bills are doing whatever this year’s version of “Suck for Luck” is…..and before the season even starts.
I’ve got the jets beating the bills week 1.
Then ending up 1-15.

Dolphins signed Sam Young this week, instead of next, because another team wanted him. They guaranteed his salary for season.
Another team wanted him? Have they ever watched tape?
He was vood last year in preseason, but hes got colonbliw tendencies. Gase likes to use him when he brings in an extra OLman, because his strength is pushing the pile.

That was one heck of a game! I watched it to the very end. I thought Rosen looked HORRIBLE through 3 quarters, then finally got in-sync with his receivers. GREAT game!
He hadn’t played in 11 months, so a little rusty. I haven’t been real impressed with him his whole career. Watch next week he lays an egg again.
NFL Nations bold predictions, every team that’s at least expected to challenge for the playoffs had a positive bold prediction for their team except Walker. Maybe he’s saying in his pessimistic way we won’t get our $10M out of Cutler, means that happening is less likely.
Sorry Ken for my anal-ity on Parkey😁
LOL
Move the game to Friday, Saturday, or Monday, but please don’t take our bye week.
Because we are in London I don’t think they can take the bye week away
Oh yeah, I hadn’t thought of that. That would be ridiculous to come back from London without a bye. Awesome.
Wait, I just looked, we don’t even have our bye after the London game. How the heck does that work?
I guess since we’re east coast and the trip isn’t as long, it isn’t guaranteed we have a bye after London?
KONG: AS IT STANDS right now, Miami will have a bye week the week BEFORE we play at New England. That’s REALLY IMPORTANT. ALSO there’s NO WAY the Bucs game is moved to Monday. There’s a fairly high chance that either Miami will be cleaning up after Irma OR that Tampa Bay will be bracing for Irma. Thursday or Friday are the only options in my view.
Yeah, it would be really nice to keep that bye before the Pets game. Fingers crossed!
JUST REVIEWED the 2 PM advisory on Irma. Basically, it’s same old, same old. HIGH probability that Irma threatens either the greater Miami area Sunday or the Tampa Bay area on Monday. Neither ROSS nor the Glazers can take the chance of playing on Sunday. SO the game likely WILL NOT be played on Sunday and, instead, will be moved to another day. I believe the NFL will move this game to Thursday Night, with the announcement coming Tuesday afternoon or, at the latest, Wednesday morning.
For the record, I didn’t feed anyone. I was posting about the team and got insulted for posting facts. Just saying.
No need to defend yourself you did nothing to bring that on
Thanks Ken.

The Dolphins have added DT Gabe Wright to practice squad.
He was a 2015 4th rd pick by DET.
Five recent Draft selections (Days 1 and 2) that set us back…
1) DE Dion Jordan (R1P3): could have had Ezekiel Ansah or anyone not named Dion Jordan at any position (should have traded DOWN from R1P12 as suggested… HORRIBLE top of the Draft year).
2) T Johnathan Martin (R2P10): could have had anyone not named Johnathan Martin at any position.
3) CB Jamar Taylor (R2P22): could have had David Amerson (had we not traded up for Dion Jordan) or Tyrann Mathieu. Or better off, we should have shipped this selection to KC for Branden Albert instead of rolling with Johnelle Martin.
4) G Billy Turner (R3P3): could have had Gabe Jackson, Spencer Long, Travis Swanson, or Trai Turner.
5) G Dallas Thomas (R3P15): could have had anybody not named Dallas Thomas at any position.
Point of this exercise? None of these guys are with us today, all but Taylor are either backups or (soon to be) out of the league, we got ZERO return on any of these guys, our Day 1 and Day 2 selections should be starting for us by now, and our O-Line is one more injury away from total chaos.
I realize that the Draft can be a total crap-shoot, but we cannot miss on guys in the first 3 Rounds. We’ve been PATHETIC over the Ireland years, and I’m not trying to heap more dirt on the fool. It’s just a resounding problem that still echoes to this very day.
Between last GM Dennis Hickey and now GM Chris Grier, I think we’re making very good progress.
But dammit… I don’t believe our current O-Line is adequate enough in order to get through a full season with injury bugs lurking. And we can mostly thank Jeff Ireland for that what with his failed Draft picks in our very recent past.
OFFICIAL PREDICTION for 2017: 9-7, Wildcard berth (return to the playoffs).
I think we’re past that 2013 draft. It sucked but we made the playoffs last year. Onward troops! 🙂
The 2013 Draft still affects us to this day, but we’re almost out of that $#!tstorm! One more year and we’ll be officially cleared of as much. 🙂
I do agree we need another offseason to really get this roster strong but we’re moving in the right direction.
MF13; FOR ME, the most unbelievable aspect of the IRELAND YEARS was all the support he got from alleged Dolphin fans. JEFFROE PROVED he was a cancer from his first draft to his last. And the rteams he helped the most were the OTHER teams in our division!! They got 2 automatic wins many seasons!
I thought I saw praise was claimed by some team, I don’t remember who but I’ll search for it and see what I can come up with
Sweet. Gabe wright was one guy I wanted us to pick up. He could be a stud DT. He was on a team deep at the position when cut. I heard he was doing decent there.
He was a beast at Auburn
We currently have the #20 priced O-Line and the #1 priced D-Line in all of the NFL.
Really, even with Pouncey, James and Tunsil?
Yessir! Via Spotrac.
James still on rookie contract, Pouncey isn’t the highest paid center by a good bit and Tunsil on rookie contract. Pretty cheap OL
I guess it’s because of all the UDFAs and low end contracts we have on the OL.

At just $15M, the #Seahawks have the fewest cap $ allocated to Offensive Linemen, while the #Bears bring up the rear with the D-Line.
I’m kinda shocked it isn’t lower than 20 TBH
Rozen isn’t the guy everyone is drooling over, it’s that darnold kid from USC. By end of the year though I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t someone else.
I was highly impressed with Darnold from what I saw of him last season. They are also high on the kid from Wyoming but I think he is a little raw

If we retain Ja’Wuan James next year, we’ll be approaching top-5 status on the O-Line in terms of $$$. Unless James BALLS this year, he’s going to be a cap casualty next year.
I thought James and Tunsil were making more than they are. Now it makes sense.

I felt every bit as strongly as you did that we should have addressed our O-Line sooner than the 5th Round this past Draft. We’re going to be hurting once Mike Pouncey goes down in his annual pilgrimage to the I/R.
Larsen and Urbik going down hurt us.
Oh, man… BIG TIME! Totally agreed. I wish we would have drafted Pat Elflein as Old Dolfan wisely suggested long ago. I’d have been happy with Dion Dawkins, myself. Either way, we’re mighty thin on the O-Line.
But it was injuries that hurt us. Those guys could have gone down too.
steen is starting at lg
I hope he’s up to the task.
Congrats to him for winning the job. It’s pretty cool that Davis played well too.
Can anyone name anyone on this board that supported Ireland?
I did but it was more hoping it was going to pan out. I started to sour on him in 2012 when our WR position was shit. Then the 2013 season our OL was shit and he blew that draft.
Chad Henne was Irelands downfall
Chad Henne was Bill Parcells’ pick in 2008. Ireland had yet to be given full control as GM.
regardless, chad henne was the reason miami was a poor football team under ireland.
I remember, Henne checked all parcells requirements having played 4 years of college.
Henne lacked footwork and therefore telegraphed his passes for easy pickings.
^^^ AGREED!
KINDA DISAGREE that Henne, by himself, caused Ireland’s downfall. I believe we could have overcome the poor selection of Henne IF IRELAND HAD NOT MADE BAD SELECTION AFTER BAD SELECTION YEAR AFTER YEAR. The cumulative effect of ALL of Ireland’s bad selections is what led to his downfall. Had Ross realized that RETAINING BOTH IRELAND AND SPARANO FOR MANY YEARS (and giving them undeserved pay raises) WAS A MISTAKE, we could have replaced “The Doofus Brigade” years earlier and be in MUCH better shape than we now are. But, instead, Ross kept the “DOOFUS BRIGADE” and approved the selection of Philbin as head coach. There are plenty of people deserving blame during this era. But Henne was hardly the only culprit. Indeed, the most blameworthy individual, by far, in my estimation is the guy who signs the paychecks, the one and only Steve Ross. Hopefully, Ross’s selection of Gase will be the first of many RIGHT DECISIONS!!
this game will have to be played this thursday, no way around it
I just read the team is preparing as if they’re going to be playing Friday.
I would be surprised if they played friday
I like playing this Friday, gives us a small advantage against Tampa, because of travel and accommodations, then a big advantage next week.
Why no way around it? Changing storm track for Sun at the Rock, neutral site on Sunday, and the week 11 bye week still in play.
I think Steen has pretty good potential at G for us. He was serviceable at OC last year until he got hurt as well. OG is his natural position so hopefully he does great there this upcoming year.
We can only hope! That would be GRAND!
I think it is against the law for an NFL team to play on Friday as it conflicts with College Football
Please stop with that ridiculousness.
you should have a clue before you post, here let me give you one.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_Broadcasting_Act_of_1961
Congress won’t let the NFL schedule games on Friday and Saturday while college and HS games are still being played, but that’s not what this is, it’s a reschedule to get around a hurricane. Congresses act is for normal circumstances.
When thinking about the injuries that will surely affect the OL, no one seems to be countering that with Larsen coming back. As long as our big three play and play well the OL won’t be an issue, as we know from history when Pouncey, James and Albert all started.
The Storm will be too close by Friday, people will have to make preparations we won’t know until Friday morning if it has a chance of hitting us and if it does hit Miami Sunday there is no chance of a Monday night game. realistically the game has to be played Thursday night or not at all.
O-Rob…..why couldn’t they play it at a neutral site? Saints played exactly one game in New Orleans the season of Katrina?
I would assume they could if they had to, but i think the NFL likes to insure a level playing field if they can and that would eliminate one home game for miami. moving it to thursday night seems their only option at this point.
Stringfellow is a contested catch receiver. That’s his strength. I think he isn’t that big of a loss but he dies provide something we could have used which is a true redzone receiver. I’m not sweating losing him to the Jets as in I don’t want to face him, it was more of a I would have like to kept and developed him
We need Parker and Thomas to big red zone threats.
He’s nothing more than a project at this time.
It would be a shame if it got moved to Marcus Lamonis’ Camping World Stadium here in Orlando and I can’t go because Lemonis said if you support Trump don’t do business with him. So fuck him and I’ll watch on tv.
i’m thinking Vanguard high here in Ocala would seem most likely.
High school? I seriously doubt that the NFL has pretty strict field conditions and requirements that I doubt any HS could meet.
Ive talked to Ross about it,he knows i don’t like to drive.
😆

Yes, Larsen will be coming back after half the season is already over. Will he be 100%? I don’t have the answer to that, but here’s another thought: he hasn’t had nor will he have had the time to gel with his new Miami teammates on the O-Line (gel-time is HUGE on the O-Line). That’s another reason why Larsen’s injury SUCKS.
What’s more… Larsen really isn’t that great a player to begin with, as his history/play dictates. He was brought in (in part) to be an emergency Center for when Pouncey goes down yet again.
In short, I don’t think Larsen will be a ‘shot in the arm’ when he comes back. JMO
He was the starting LG when he went down.
Which isn’t saying much, yet it does. 😦
The point was people were speculating we’d have OL injuries, so why not speculate Larsen being who he was for us before he got hurt? He’s much better than what we have now.
YES, I agree that Larsen is/was much better than what we have now. But after Steen garners 8 weeks of gel-time with the O-Line (something Larsen won’t be afforded due to injury), I doubt Larsen would be an ‘instant’ upgrade over Steen in week 9.
Which brings us right back to the injury issue, so even if Larsen isn’t any better than Steen for week 9, he’s still better than the current bench. He’d be a good serviceable replacement for another injured OL.
^^^ I agree with this!
seems Asiata isn’t that good?
Or not ready. Hopefully that’s it. 🙂
I’m going with not ready. Year after year you see OL rookies struggle, even ones drafted in the early rounds. Tonsil almost didn’t start.
we’ve had 2 starting LGs go down, and he still can’t sniff the field, that would make him at least 4th on the depth chart??.
I’m not sure he would have made the 53 without injuries
Your logic is baffling, he makes it either way, because of his potential, unless hes really that bad, which he isn’t or he’d have been cut Saturday.
Stranger here is a weather app from the hurricane center that is very useful and more precise than the TV stations. Put in your zip code in the box on the upper top right side. It’s very detailed unlike the news which is reporting conditions for the whole metropolitan area.weather

Thanks JS…..stowed away just in case, but the generalities are really the only times when I do pay attention to the weather. Except for that thunderstorm radar track that helps big time day to day.
The Red Zone is 80 yards long when GrANTman is on the field

Well in that case…
Get him to pick you up in the helicopter
Oh my God!
This has been one Fucked up Summer for me. Havent even had one minute to think about Football. Between our broken ass car, all my work tools broke and the neighbor keeps calling animal control on our Cats I am losing my ASS!
I caught about 4 plays in the Falcons game and that is it.
Didnt even think about scores till this morning and then I come home and the weather channel is talking about switching the game to Thursday…
Well I have no clue about our team but I am going to trust in Cutler (if he is still even here) and our re-vammped Deffense…
DOLPHINS-BUCCANEERS
Howie 31-27 MIA
GO PHINS!!!
Better luck to you in the future, Ocala. Man…
M13 37-31 MIA
GO PHINS!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
Glad you found time for us Howie. We’ll keep you updated on everything. Cutler is indeed our QB. Suh and Wake run this bitch, we go as they go.
It’s a beautiful home opener. “Who let the dogs out” ass whoopin’ I don’t care what day they play
Miami 35
Bucs 9
keep plugging away and little by little things will improve.Keep the faith..What’s wrong with the car?
OCALAROB; Reply for you up the page regarding “The Hen.” – – Enjoy!
OD — if they switch to Thursday are we going?
Totally agree
HOWIE — HOWIE — HOWIE:
27-23 Bucs
TB matches up well against the Fins DB’s. Miami MUST get big-time pressure on Winston to pull the upset.
YOUNG STANGER: BET YER ASS we’re going if it’s Thursday. Will call you with the details!
I understand your frustration OD however if we would have had a decent QB back then and not one when the chips are on the table throws to the other team.
other players may have looked better.
If you have a ball control offense and keep you Defense off the field as much as possible they look good when they are on the field. it all starts at the qb position.
Henne sucked and that was the front offices fault for not seeing his atrocious footwork, Ray charles could have spotted that
so i guess at the end of the day you are right.
I THINK I was the only one on this board who saw “The Hen” play many Big 10 games at Michigan. I spent 16 pretty awful football seasons in “Buckeyeville.” Nearly all of Henne’s games at Michigan were featured either in the highlights or throughout the televised Michigan games. He STUNK THEN, but managed to find some success because of the overall talent edge Michigan had over most of its foes. And Henne being a graduate of Michigan certainly was an advantage from Ross’s point of view. Too bad.
That was back in the sun sentinel days, i had never liked Henne, some said he was the post marino savior, i was attacked for bashing henne.
Why are you guys discussing Chad Henne? He’s been gone for over 5 years. LOL
Some habits are hard to break
I think he was a improvement ofwhat we had in Beck and the 1-15 team. He wasn’t that bad to last what 8-12 yrs in NFL or how many yrs he’s played in NFL.
Maualuga getting closer to helping us.
