The Jets held the ball for 36:08 to the Dolphins 23:52 in what was a disaster. The Dolphins narrowly avoided being shutout. It was just ugly. why re-live it.

Working week nights in addition to cover one of our bondsmen who is out with an injury and cant drive for three months. Sucks, but extra $$ has been nice. The boss does have the Sunday ticket for me at work though. lol Wanted to meet up with D at a Senior Bowl in Mobile a few years back but then I switched to weekends and could not pursue it.

Something has to give for the OL, we’ve been investing for years in it and it’s rarely come to fruition as a good pass blocking unit (we’ve had fits and spurts as a running team of course).

Reviewing the constitution:
“THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers , that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.”
“First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The 5th Amendment says: no person can be deprived of the right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness without due process of the law. Pretty sure that in some of these cases, the ones they are protesting, this can be claimed, giving ground for grievance.
Eight Amendment says: Excessive bail, fines, nor cruel and unusual punishment be inflicted. Pretty sure they actually are in violation of all three. A lot of times bail is such a high amount that it is unable to be met, many times fines for crimes are such that it completely bankrupts a person, and of course the cruel and unusual punishment part is more at the core of this grievance.
The President also makes an oath, a verbal commitment, to the country and it people to “faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
One other section interested me:
Amendment 2 under the section of the Judicial Branch:
My interpretation of this article says to me that the jurisdiction to determine if there is a violation of civil rights. Consider if you feel like kneeling for the anthem is such a violation, and that punishment should be considered for the act, ie they should be fired for it, sued, etc.The interpretation of this claim lies with the interpretation of the constitutional rights, and this can only be done by the Supreme Court. The judicial branch has direct authority when any conflict between two individuals or groups, being those two groups are governed by two different states, are at conflict over their rights as a citizen of the US. The Executive and Legislative branches of the United stats have no jurisdiction to rule on any such matter. If there were governed by the same state, the state legislation would have jurisdiction, as long as the given the state was upholding the rights as a US Citizen. If the State seemed to be in conflict with the Constitution, it could be appealed to the Supreme Court instead. So no matter how you slice it, Trump was in violation of his rights as the President of the United states to even suggest that they be punished.
So distasteful as it may be, the best that can be done and the most that should be done is for those who feel offended by them to stop contributing to them (although im sure someone will attempt a lawsuit based upon PTSD and emotion duress from the protesting of the anthem). Your right is not to control their action but modify your own. Dont buy their jerseys, don’t pay for NFL Sunday Ticket, don’t buy tickets, hell don’t watch games so their ratings tank, but don’t think that they should be denied their constitutional rights.
We all understand what these rights mean, and i dont care if you are uber liberal nor uber conservative, everyone here wants to protect those right. We just got to understand we are only seeing our own side on this. The right sees the it as ugly to the vets, and other citizens of this country, the left sees it as ugly to the protestors right and ugly to citizens of this country too. Its both, and the sooner we start seeing that, the sooner we get to finding a better way to get this shit resolved.
Stills and Thomas were doing this already, they had moved past it, they were no longer going to kneel, but as soon as Trump got on there and did that, they were back to kneeling because they wanted to be defiant in the face of tyranny. America was formed off that same principal. If we let it, this had a terminal point, it has a place where we likely learn something, grown and move past it, but as long as more fuel is being thrown on the fire, and the spotlight keeps shining brihter and brighter, this isnt going to make it to that place. Instead we will stay living in this moment, angry with each other and in complete disagreement on how to handle it.

Not sure, I believe Hull was the MLB flanked by Alonso and Timmons, and Allen replaced Timmons. I still think we’ll see them all play.

I think Hull was the MLB after McMillan went down. Timmons and Alonso outside. Not sure that will change other than them moving around at times.
Hull has some decent stats, but he wasnt playing very well. Clay Aikens was playing better than him and definitely was not as much of a liability in pass defense. It might be that Allen moves to the middle, i think they wanted to use Timmons at the SLB spot. Im not sure if he will start this coming week, even though they have said he might or could. I think that was just saying he isn’t under further restrictions by the team, it doesn’t mean he is who they will go with. I would be we at least see him though, and very possibly Anthony a bit as well. Did they have to cut anyone to re-activate him?

They can already come to a pretty close conclusion that what a person has is CTE related if you use a combination of radiological exams, injury history and psychological examinations. The are likely coming up with a way to get an accurate and one sample kind of test to know with a low deviation that a person has it. It would be nice too if it let the person know what stage they are in, ie if each knock to the noggin has a cumulative effect, how progress are you so you can get out while the gettin is good.

Not that it would do us any good but i would too. Hell id like to know just why he got suspended. Was it because something like that cant go unpunished, or was there more to it like they needed to buy time to see if anything sneaky sneak happened when he went to an opposing team in the AFC, and hung out in their locker room, with who knows what being exchanged as far as defensive playbook, etc.

One person isn’t a protest, its standing up for your self. When people come together to stand up for others, together, that’s a protest. Trump has made this a full scale protest.All those who feel that the protests are wrong, and that the protesters are not legitimate in their claims, you should really hate what Trump did because it certainly took a smoldering ember and turned it into a forest fire. He legitimized their claims. On top of that, it was showing signs of moving on from being a protest to being the point of change. He definitely pressed the reset button on that.
Incidentally, the Rosa Parks thing, was at the core of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which was one of the first big events that MLK led. I respect MLK a lot, and i think if MLK was doing this, he would have used the same pulpit, but i know he wouldn’t have started things off like Kaepernick did, and i know that he wouldn’t have extended the protest past the point he needed to get right attention and effect a change. In the Montgomery Bus boycott, While they were still protesting, he tried to organize sit down meetings, to work things out with the opposition. It took a while but he won hearts and minds over with how he did things, non-violently, with a lot of work outside just the protesting. He was a real leader and a person looking for real change.
I also think the way Kaeprnick handled himself is part of the disagreement on these protests. I think its part of why people arent legitimately thinking about this as a protest or injustice. If he had been a better face for the movement, a more MLK like leader, this might not be an issue no and certainly even if not fully resolve, it would be a lost closer to it.
I also think Kaepernick mishandled the approach to bringing attention to this with his protest
our country has a despicable history of racism but we also have a proud tradition of civil rights
I like to see American Pride associated with that tradition rather than our shortcomings. In other words describing discrimination as un-American
But I think Kaepernick went for the tact of bringing attention to the problem – so I don’t criticize him too much for his tact but it does get under my skin a little

While i agree with ya that there is a good bit of skin color making cops have their mind made up on if they are guilty of being a criminal or not, i dont think this is the major reason this shit happens.
Its seems to me to be more because of fear and poor training. Almost every one of the videos that have been released have seemed more like that than really thinking they are criminals or racial prejudice. You can see in more seasoned cops, that they ed-escalate situations and a lot of the younger newer ones, many times make the situation worse. In fact most every time these cop involved shooting of questionable nature seem to be with either new or young cops. I think thats more telling of a a training issue, which is also funding issue. Some people are not cut out to be cops, but if its the applicants you are getting, or the only ones willing to take that shitty salary to put themselves in harms way every day, you take what you can get.

That Shula’s is gone, but same hotel on the Lauderdale Beach where I picked you guys up first time around. And if none of the options work out for Toba….there is always the Ramada. And actually that neighborhood is looking a lot more upscale these days.

I’m seeing a lot of chatter on Twitter regarding our O-Line and the solutions being proposed are all over the place CRAZY… they aren’t even worth mentioning here.
Stanger and I concurred shortly after our last game that our O-Line was problematic and it certainly is… but here’s why…
Tunsil (only a handful of starts at LT as a pro last year after being moved to LG) has never played next to Steen before; Steen (new to the Gase Offense) has never played next to Pouncey before; Pouncey (didn’t see action until week 5 last year before ending his season after week 9) has only ever played 5 games next to Bushrod before. Bushrod (playing RG for the very first time last year) played next to James for all 16 games last year.
Add 3 more elements to the equation…
1) It was EVERYBODY’S first time playing in the Gase Offense last year (ground-zero, if you will).
2) Pouncey lost valuable experience (gel-time) in playing next to his mates last year in missing 11 regular season games. Plus, he was held out of most of camp and the preseason this year.
3) Brand new QB in Jay Cutler.
There is ZERO continuity/gel-time (aside from Bushrod and James) from last year’s ‘ground-zero’ installment of the Gase Offense.
As far as I’m concerned, this unit is quite literally learning on the job in how to work next to one another. Give it a few more weeks and we’ll see where we’re at on the O-Line (PLEASE no more injuries). And keep in mind, this O-Line matter is negatively impacting Jay Cutler as well… that may well account for so very many check-downs through the first 2 weeks, not to mention unfamiliarity with his new receiving corps.
I urge patience with our team this season… which we’re ALL tired of practicing, I know.
I shouldn’t have stated that Steen is brand new to the Gase Offense, rather that he’s the new starting LG instead of Tunsil from last year… but I hope y’all got the point I was trying to make.
They played well in LA. The entire offense looked out of sync against the Jets. Not getting everyone lined up, the clock running down, false starts and delay of games. Then individual performance seemed lackluster from a lot of players. The Cutler dead arm possibilities. We had a weird start to the season going out West then coming back to go back on the road in NJ. Players saying they thought they didn’t practice well all week. The Timmons stuff. It might have just been a bad week and now we have to go to London to play our first home game. 😦
Let’s hope we get a win against the Saints and get back on track. I don’t want us to lose but the Saints being NFC isn’t a bad loss if it happens. This team needs less drama and more normal.

M13, our OL has not been a talent issue but one that can’t keep 5 starters on the field week to week and we’re still developing depth. So we have no history of good continuity yet we made the playoffs without Pouncey last year. I think we’ll be alright if stay relatively healthy.
Also Tunsil needs some seasoning like all young LTs. It’s not an easy position to play as we’ve seen from a lot of high draft pick LTs over the last bunch of years. It takes these guys a year or two to get to the projected level if they ever do.
EXACTLY, Brother! That’s what I’m getting at. I think we’re going to be alright, but we can’t truly evaluate this O-Line until there’s more gel-time among them due to what you and I have stated.
I hope that by week 6, we’re going to see the O-Line primed to become a top unit in the league. It’s ALL about that gel-time when it comes to the O-Line, buddy.

Thanks! I’ve heard coaches say many times that it takes 4-5 weeks for an OL to really get going do to the lack of physical practices. Their game is based on being physical. So they’re getting the majority of their work in games that count. But that goes for all teams and that’s why the overall quality of football I’ve seen this year and over the years since the new CBA, is not very good early on.

Constitutional scholars and attorneys have already weighed in on this issue… President Trump didn’t cross a single line — nor did he even threaten an executive order or introduction of any new law regarding this issue — while practicing his own 1A rights (Obama did it ALL the time as well).
But I WILL tell you this, my friend… I feel that businesses VERY often overstep the Constitution itself here in America (David and I 100% agree on that much). And with that stated, I think it’s time for Goodell to stop being a punk with his “tyrannical powers” (NOT President Trump) as Commish. He’s playing judge, jury, and executioner as he sees fit with his political agenda. And to think he may still suspend Jarvis Landry, even though Jarvis seems to be cleared by the law… WOW, SMH.
If one wants to talk about the Constitution, it’s time to realize that President Trump IS observing as much… Roger Goodell is NOT as a biz Commish.

All of Goodell’s actions are based on making the NFL owners money. They are the ones deciding what their teams can and can’t do, not Goodell. He doesn’t have power over them. Owners right now have no idea what to do because their meal ticket, the fans, are pissed off and are starting to boycott. They also don’t want a war with the players. This is now a social issue and they are walking on egg shells.
The problem I have with the NFL brand and not just the commissioner, is they are too much about money and not the quality of the game. The quality of the game is the entertainment value of the sport. All the other excess crap is a fad.
Consider me WITH you regarding this post as well, as it pertains to the greedy $$$ and the now watered-down quality of the game we’re seeing.
I LOVE this game called football (the NFL version, particularly), but this Titanic is getting sunk from bad decisions made from within… at least in my view.
The constitution being applicable to private business is basically the least libertarian thing you can advocate for. I find myself wide-eyed at the complete 180 I see conservatives do in the last year.
The intent of the constitution is to limit government interference in individual rights and that shouldn’t be disturbed, its the foundation of what we are a great country
anything the constitution prohibits can be prohibited through separate federal or state or local legislation – so the type of federal legislation you mention can be pursued, without disrupting our foundation principles
but you are going to get a lot of push back from Reagan Deregulation Republicans on any legislation over the private sector
but if you are suggesting that American corporations should be guided by those principles, well I make that argument all the time and I agree.
as an example of a constitutional principle being the source of federal legislation take a look at the 14th amendment vs the Civil rights act of 1964 which adopts the ideas in the equal protection clause and applies it to the private sector
Deregulation Republicans and Tax and Spend Democrats is the conundrum. You hope for balance and individual rights but that’s not what happens. It always goes back to money and favors. That’s why term limits is such a big issue with we the people. We allow our government to become a business. It should not be. It should be a service of the people by the people. Not a fucking profit and subsidizing institution.

Piggy, a lot of regulation are worker’s rights, environment and “fair” pay. That’s not going away anytime soon even if people don’t understand economics. Republicans are more pro business and Democrats are more pro employee. There needs to be a better middle ground. But those who want to see free market capitalism go away and become more socialist is the battle, and is anti-American in theory. Always has been. You can’t make socialist ideologies prominent and still stand for individual freedom. They don’t mix.

The middle ground is a tough reach. Are American jobs more valuable than deregulation? Yes but to what extent ? I’m in the mindset that most regulations were put in place to assist global trade overseas to pad the pockets of the rich ceo’s and share holders here in America. Another way to look at free market capitalism is the consumer, not the worker. The market sets the price for both. If it’s not reasonable to the consumer, that company or industry won’t exist. The biggest problem to me is not the ideology of free market capitalism, it’s human behavior trying to get every penny they can at any cost. That’s when people become socialist. They see a lack of fairness because of greed.
It’s still on We the People. We control all of it. But we tend to let it be. I feel the debate is off course because most people don’t like change.

I am seriously in the minority, but I thought the new version of IT sucked. I think the 90’s version was waaay better, campy, corny, horrible acting, and all. The new version changed the story way too much and it was extremely disjointed. The kid actors were fantastic (Finn Wolfhard was great as Ritchie), but the story didn’t work for me. How do you not have the dam building scenes or the barrens? I must be crazy or old, but I am seriously flabbergasted at the praise being heaped upon it.

Not sure how the president infringing on the rights of a citizen of the US was not completely constitutional. It has nothing to do with business and everything to do with the executive branch calling for individual rights to be violated, and trying to do it by using his influence over a private business to do it. How can you say that’s not him overstepping his bounds. He may not have made an executive order (which he couldn’t have without Congress approval), but that influence from his position as POTUS can be seen as coersion.
It’s called 1A, my friend. It’s not coercion, it’s 1A. The President has the right to invoke his 1A rights… just as Obama publicly shamed police everywhere when he said, “THE POLICE ACTED STUPIDLY”. Or… “IF I HAD A SON, TRAVVON WOULD LOOK JUST LIKE ME”.

Two friends of mine are the same as you (Cuban), they are brothers. They are left of center and that’s fine, but also have libertarian viewpoints. One thing I know, is we all want peace and to stop with the nonsense. We sat around many of fires discussing these topics for over a decade. Their parents are as friendly as you could ask for. Wonderful people.

Disappointed to hear all the negative reviews of IT as well. I almost dragged my wife with me last Saturday, but I was too tired after eating myself into a food coma. Guess I should consider myself lucky. Or, maybe I should check it out for myself. I know a lot of people hated the Dark Tower movie, and I really liked it so . . . . I knew beforehand that they left out a couple of the main characters, and changed things around a little, but I think the movie was still very good, and had enough from the original story to make it work. I’ve heard they intend to bring the Dark Tower to TV to make a miniseries, though likely not on network TV, but on a pay channel.
