Dolphins beat the home favorite Falcons in a stunning upset as Dolphins drive late in the game to break the 20-20 tie and win it with less than a minute to go with a 48 yard Cody Parkey FG.  The Dolphins seal the win with a Cordrea Tankersley INT of Matt Ryan with 33 seconds remaining.

    Ajayi —– 26/130 and a 5 yard average

  2. naplesfan2010 says:

Harris held the edge on a play today that 3 wks ago went for a long run cuz he flashed up field too soon

  3. naplesfan2010 says:

    Landry — 8/62 and a TD

  4. naplesfan2010 says:

    Stills 4/49 and a TD

  5. Mike E. says:

Front 7 look real good, and Tank is getting it done. It’s clear Allen is a negative, but Jones is a player, and Howard is doing alright, but they pick on him sometimes, and he hasn’t been able to stop them.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Yes Howard has been getting picked on a LOT. Drooling over the D when we get McDonald in the games

    • Tim Knight says:

Allen has been solid as well. He’s still part of the defense that doesn’t allow many points. Teams are going to make plays sometimes, especially ones with talent. We faced one of the best offenses today in their building, held them to 17 and shut them out in the 2nd half. Not easy to do and hard to say anyone is a weak link right now.

Howard, Tankersley and McCain are all still developing. All 24 years old with Tank turning 24 in a month. Jones is playing all-pro, Allen has kept things in front of him, and McDonald is on the way after the next 3 games. 🙂

  6. Mike E. says:

Good to see Phillips back and playing well

    • Tim Knight says:

He played really well. Like a fire lit under his ass and he wanted to prove it. LOL

    • D says:

I didn’t check how many snaps he was out there but he definitely was disruptive on a lot of plays. One Suh/Wake sack was really because if him. He blew up the very next play after it, and he had a few times where I saw him hustling on plays and being involved down field. Suh is in on a ton of plays away from him, that’s really a testament to his work ethic.

      • Tim Knight says:

        Agreed.

Phillips drops in coverage well and destroys the passing lane by his shear size. LOL

I saw Ryan have a WTF look and I believe the play went for nothing as he was pressured. Maybe even sacked. I’m trying to remember it. But it made an impact.

  7. naplesfan2010 says:

Vincent Taylor knocked down a pass did he not?

    • Tim Knight says:

He’s been solid as well. The FO did a good job adding young talent to what they already had. Then add a vet LB like Timmons, DL Hayes, S Allen and even now a guy like Maualuga. McDonald waiting in the wings. 🙂

  8. Tim Knight says:

Besides talent, the defense is playing better because the tackling is much improved. It was an emphasis all offseason and it really paid off.

I’m a huge fan of defense and having my team play it well is a lot of fun. 🙂

  9. The Flying Pig says:

    Ravens lost
    Weeeeee

  10. Ken says:

Our defense is really good. If we can get any offense we can be a playoff team

  11. Tim Knight says:

    The AFC is wide open.

  12. Mike E. says:

    Ken

Sold on the offense? LOL – Who is? They did just enough today.

  13. Ken says:

Wasn’t sure what to make of D last week after beating up depleted Tenn team. No question what to make of it after beating the Falcons in Atlanta

  14. Tim Knight says:

Nate Allen plays centerfield a lot. Even Jones drops deep on a lot of plays. We definitely play a don’t get beat over the top defense even though we did today. Once! That’s the difference. Not 2-3 times per game, just once. 17, 20, 20, 10, 17. That’s not easy to do in a passing league where rules favor more points than that.

  15. naplesfan2010 says:

The Jets lost and the Ravens lost so we are ahead of them in the Wild Card race. LOL
We are the 2nd Wild Card team at this moment.
Actually, only 3 teams in the AFC have a better record than we do, and one of those must play tonight yet.

    • Tim Knight says:

LOL @ the wildcard race after 6 weeks. Not making fun of you, Naples. I love your positivity. Maybe just a little early for that. LOL

  16. Ken says:

Can Wake and Suh in competition for DPOY imo

  17. Ken says:

Now I am in the mood to fest

  18. naplesfan2010 says:

And only 3 teams have a better record in the NFC than we do, and one of those just lost Aaron Rodgers for the season.

  19. Mike E. says:

I’ll say this, the Jets are no pushover at all. They practically beat the Patriots today, if not for the officials taking away a TD from ASJ, which was complete and utter bullshit. McCown is playing solid football, and their defense is always a challenge.

  20. Mike E. says:

Hey Toba – I’m watching Carnival Eats on the Cooking Channel, and they’re at the Red River Exhibition in this episode. Have you ever been there? Are you somewhat near it?

    • manitobafinfan says:

Hey Mike E yes have been there on occasion, that would be the equivalent of our State Fair , comes to town every June .. it is in Winnipeg where i live , on opposite side of city. 45 min drive. Did they have Little Bones Wings ??

  21. D says:

WC and division titles may come down to last week this year. Most teams that would qualify for wither are separated by like 1 game right now

  22. Brian in NY says:

Reshad with the INT- not Tankersley!

  23. Tim Knight says:

The Aaron Rodgers loss is not just bad for him and the Packers, but for the NFL. He’s such a good QB.

  24. wyoming85 says:

This is the Gase brilliance we have been waiting for!

  25. mf13ss says:

    NICE TEAM WIN, PHINS!!!

Saw the highlights, saw the stats, read the blog comments, and tracked the game while at work today. Our O-Line didn’t give up any sacks, only gave up 2 QB hits, and they paved the way for Ajayi to go over 125 yards. Excellent work!

Cutler’s still dinkin’-n-dunkin’, but at least he had a little more zip on the ball this week. Observation: there’s something funky with his throwing motion: it looks like he’s shooting darts rather than throwing a football. His 4.6 YPCompletion today is up a yard from last week, but it’s still HORRIBLE. And his 76.7 passer rating today is quite obviously sub-par. I maintain something is physically wrong with him, but he looked slightly better this week than last.

Reshad ROCKS. PRIMETIME plays by Jarvis and Hayes. Parkey is a NICE Kicker. Gase made GREAT adjustments after halftime on both sides of the ball. Jake Brendel caught my eye in the Ajayi highlights, getting out smoothly to the second-level like Pouncey does.

So now we can add a concussion to Pouncey, along with his hip problems… hopefully he recovers soon. If he misses an extended amount of time (as has been predicted)… NOT GOOD.

WHAT A COME-FROM-BEHIND VICTORY AGAINST THE REIGNING NFC CHAMPS!!!
    GO PHINS!!!
    HELL YEAH!!!

THE ’72 DOLPHINS RECORD as the only undefeated team in NFL history will stand for another year. The Chiefs, the last undefeated team this season, just lost to the Steelers 19-13!! ___ALL HAIL THE ’72 DOLPHINS!!

  27. mf13ss says:

Stick a fork in the Chefs*!!!
1972 Miami Dolphins… STILL the only undefeated team in NFL HISTORY!!!

  28. Krishna says:

What a great second half! And, a great send-off as we head to Florida and the fest tomorrow.

    Amazing.

  29. naplesfan2010 says:

plus 2 other contenders with the Dolphins for a playoff spot lost, Jax and Oakland.

  30. naplesfan2010 says:

Here’s hoping the falcons are angry after losing 2 in a row and go in to Foxboro hot to prove something.

#Dolphins have never lost a game (9-0) when #JayAjayi rushes for 77 or more yards in a game. #STUD 🐬🐬🐬

  34. Jahndoh30 says:

Hey M13, i watched the game (for a change, been lots of radio broadcasts for me this year) and your quote of the QB hits tells me that hits and the PD stat are both super dependent on who’s keeping the boxscore. Maybe if it results in a penalty they don’t call it a QB hit? They were called for at least 2 if not 3 roughing the passer on ugly hits. Cutler got pretty roughed up today overall.

Anyone else feel this way? Just my take on what I saw, but wondering if I’m alone….

Proud of the OL at any rate. Ajayi was able to assert his will and without Pouncey they still got it done and won the game.

    • Mike E. says:

He got thoroughly walloped on one play, one guy crushed him, the other helmet to helmet hit that looked pretty bad, but to his credit, he got right back up. There were a couple of other hits too, but that one is fresh in my mind

    • CavalierKong says:

I thought the Falcons got pressure pretty consistently today, but Cutler was adept at stepping up in the pocket and moving out when it collapsed. He definitely took more than 2 shots, so yeah, it must not count as a QB hit when the play is negated by penalty which is kinda silly since the QB doesn’t suddenly not feel that hit, lol.

    • naplesfan2010 says:

well but that is why they throw the flag and that is why those punks don’t get a stat in their favor nor do our guys lose one … because you don’t reward illegal plays.

We can’t hold our OL guilty if some jackass takes 2.5 steps after the play and smacks Cutler as he did today.

Also the Falcons should want payback for the Super Bowl meltdown loss.

I’m getting my QB hits and PD stats from ESPN, and I can tell ya that they only count the plays that COUNT (the official record, if you will). You ARE correct… Cutler got hit on a few plays that got called back due to penalty (un-necessary roughness was one of the calls).

And we should also keep in mind that Cutler threw an INT that got called back due to penalty.

Yeah, man. I think your point is VERY valid, to be sure. Cutler did get roughed up today.

    • mf13ss says:

So in short — and in the reality of things — Cutler was hit about 5 times (HARD, a couple of time). That’s something that the boxscore will never account for. Good post.

  37. Mike E. says:

Kong – It’s worth a look. It may have been one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen
