Last week we took a look at the inside guys, the OG’s, but with the possible loss of our RT Ja’Wuan James, we’ll see who’s available to fill that spot. Of course, we may already have that player on our roster (Jesse Davis), but they may want Davis to continue as the swing man, who can play either OG or OT. Just so you know, the top guy available is Nate Solder and I’m not even going to add him to the list, because we’re not paying him $13M+, so forget that. It’s slim pickins folks, I’ll show you what I think are the “best” 5.
Austin Pasztor 6’7 305 27YO

Pasztor played last season on a 1 year deal with the Falcons after being the odd man out of a very talented Browns OL. Pasztor has played both RG and RT and played and started all 16 games for the Browns in 2016. Last year he was the swing man for the Falcons and he only saw action on 7 games. Pasztor was an UDFA in 2012, and signed by the Jaguars. He played in 15 games for the Jags in 2013 starting 12. At worst, he could be a depth guy for us, or if somehow we don’t draft a solid OL, he can be a decent starter.
***************************************************************************************
Greg Robinson 6’5 332 25YO

It’s unusual to see a 25YO OT hit the free agent market, but that’s where the former 1st RD pick is today. Robinson was overdrafted by the Rams in 2014 at #2 overall, and Jeff Fisher rolled him out at both LG and LT in all 16 games, starting 12. Robinson played his college ball at Auburn, and the Rams went all in on the NFL combine superstar. The 6’5 332 lb behemoth ran a 4.92 40, put up 32 reps, had a 113″ broad jump, so you can see, the big guy can move. He was a run blocking monster at Auburn, but he struggled with pass protection in college, and those struggles continued in the NFL. While there’s no questioning his outstanding athletic ability, so far, no one has been able to reach him and get him to better his technique. He’d be a risk/reward type of signing. He’s young enough to teach, but do we have the staff in place to do it? Tough to be confident answering that question. He’s played 3 full seasons at LT, but maybe RT would be his better side. Stay tuned.
***********************************************************************************
Seantrel Henderson 6’7 331 25YO

Yeah, that Seantrel Henderson. I wanted us to take a late RD flyer on this kid, because He has the size and athletic ability to become a good OT. His biggest issue is his strength, as it was coming out of college. He moves well, but doesn’t have the power. He may not have the desire either, which has long been one of his knocks, he has the lazy tag. He has started 26 games for the Bills in his first 2 seasons for the Bills, but the last 2 years he’s been getting splinters on the bench, playing in only 8 games total. He’d be a cheap sign, that much is true, and if we could get this kid fired up, he could be a good player, but that’s a big “if”.
***********************************************************************************
Byron Bell 6’5 320 29YO

Like I said, it’s not a great market out there, and the top dog Solder will really cash in. Bell played in 12 games last season for the Cowboys, starting only 2, but has been a durable starter for 4 seasons with the Panthers, and 1 season with the Titans. He signed a 1YR deal with the Cowboys last season, and I’m sure he’d love a multi year deal, but I’m not sure if that’s in the cards for the 29 YO RT.
***************************************************************************************
James Hurst 6’5 317

Hurst was an UDFA and signed by the Baltimore Ravens in 2014. He saw action in all 16 games since his rookie season, starting in only 11 games his first 3 seasons, but last year, Hurst started all 16 games at both LG and LT. Not to kiss Raven ass, but any player that can start 16 games on the Ravens is a player I’d take a look at. Hurst not only played every game last season, he played well. He’s played LT, LG and RT. He’s versatile, and he’s coming into his own, which makes him a solid option for us.
*********************************************************************************
Our own Sam Young is a FA we might re-sign, likely to a short term contract. If there’s anyone out there you feel should be included, let me know.

He seems to be closer to a tree than an athlete. LOL
—————-
LMAO!!! TRUE!!!
LMAO! That’s funny
Would it be racist to ask Brown to work out as a shade tree?
Even though I made a joke about Brown being more like a tree, I actually feel bad for guys who have these poor showings because they get a lot of negative feedback and become the brunt of jokes.
Did you see my post earlier from Ja’Wuan James to Brown? It’s true, it’s rough, but he does have his tape to speak for him, which is pretty solid
Yes
—————
LMAO!!!
And as you ALL know by now, I do not TRUST a Saban-coached DB.
Yeah… life is “Easy Street” when money rules the roost in football recruitment to the DF7 for Saban.
meh
wow I hope you are joking Rock.
I think that is one of the prettiest ones we have on our squad.

You can’t have him. He’s MINE! I have in in every single of my mock drafts. LOL (Along with Dallas Goedert as long as he isn’t picked in the first round like he has been in some of the more loopy mocks I’ve done on fanspeak.)
JJ watt’s vertical jump is 61 inches
Orlando Brown can’t even get there are 3 jumps
I have longer arms than most guys my size…sucks buying long sleeved shirts and suits, but it doesn’t mean much in the bench. Don’t believe the rhetoric. That said, I think uppper body strength is becoming less and less important for OTs nowadays. You don’t need to be bull strong when you’re playing the edge. You need to be able to move. Having upper body strength is nice, but it’s not as important as it used to be when the focus was more on run blocking.
I’m hearing people question the purpose of the bench press more and more
On those Brown numbers
it wasn’t just the bench press – it was the other numbers that concern me
That’s a serious lack of athelticsm
I’ve never seen him play but jumping 19 inches doesn’t seem to be that hard

Ongoing Dolphins nightmare continues …
It is not like Gronk is the Dolphins killer or anything. He has scored 3 TD’s in THREE YEARS (6 games) against the Dolphins. Oh woe is me! 😉
yeah but he’s missed quite a few games vs us in that span as I recall
all of 2016, but as some douchebag once said “the best ability is availability”
He has missed quite a few games against us but here’s the thing, he isn’t just a Dolphins killer, he tears up a lot of teams and we have to play him twice a year.
I know you don’t have to jump over people in the NFL…lol
but generally his athleticsm shows up on the field
contrast that with Brown
I’ve never see Brown play, but he better be one hell of a technician
What’s better, a turnstile or a tree?
a turnstile – it still slows you down a little
a tree you just run around
Do you guys remember him playing right tackle for us?
Uh Oh, I posted two links on the same page. I must be spam……..
This site drives me crazy.
Colon-blow
Glad you remembered! 😆
Brown doesn’t play like a parking cone, but he’s not a fluid athlete. I’m actually a little surprised that he tested so poorly, but I never would have drafted him anyway. He’s gonna struggle against the speed he sees in the NFL every week. If you watch his tape, Oklahoma often schemed it so he didn’t have to block the quicker, better edge rushers. That was telling to me.
SOME turnstiles are better at stopping people than others
What Orlando Brown’s numbers do is possibly question his work ethic in the weight room and leading up to the combine. IF he’s not putting the time in to get ready for the combine, will he do it in the off-seasons of the NFL to get ready for training camp/season.
…I think those are valid concerns.
I think he blamed the bench press on his “breathing routine”
which is basically saying – “I never bench press”
Mondo drive me crazy when he spouts his speculation as fact.
The Dolphins told Landry’s agent that if no acceptable trade can be found, they are perfectly willing to bring the player back at the $16.22 million franchise tag cost. There will be no long-term deal. There will be no future for Landry in Miami beyond that, folks.
Folks don’t listen to Mondo when he spouts bullshit like this. It IS bullshit speculation because NO ONE in the front office is going to show their hand to a beat reporter and ruin their chances of keeping or trading a player.
Well it’s believable, or at least a portion is
The Dolphins would not have franchised him if they weren’t ready to lay the number in the event they can’t trade him
It’s not that it’s unbelievable – it’s just more capn obvious
Oh the Dolphins will pay the franchise salary after they franchised him if they can’t trade him – no shit Mando
You know what would have been inciteful, if Mando would have said the Dolphins plan to franchise Landry if they can’t get a deal done before the deadline to tag a a player. Or the Dolphins will franchise Landry to field trade offers – but Mando didn’t report either of those
Instead he is just explaining how the rules work as if its insider information “the Dolphins have informed” …come on Mando
Piggy, to me the BS is not that it is believable or not believable. It is that he states it as a fact when it is NOT a fact. Kind of like Prof Lou stating his “facts”
Yeah – I guess calling it BS is accurate and I just oinked a lot about BSing
The idea that the Dolphins have informed Landry that they will pay his franchise number sounds like BS or that that he will not be here in 2019 (which no one knows) is certainly BS
I’m just saying the inevitable conclusion that Landry is paid the franchise number if he is not traded will in fact be true, bc there is simply no other option. Mando just dressed up the rules as insider information IMO

Different strokes Naples. I think she is bottom 5 of the girls on the squad. I hope that Jordy doesn’t get his tail all in a twist from me saying this, but she has a pig nose.
I basically am ready to propose marriage to her now
I am not sure what you mean by a “pig nose.” Was that a typo for “big nose”?
I think he means snout-like
and there is no shame in that…
There is also a possibility that Landry finds that he isn’t going to get the money he wants from anybody…
its starting to look that way to my oinking eyes
Pig, There is the option of rescinding the tag and letting him walk for nothing as well. I just don’t find that as realistic, but it is possible. It’s just not a fact until it happens.
I know its an option – but we all know that won’t happen
Once Landry signs the tag, we cannot rescind it and the contract is fully guaranteed. A trade is the only way to move on from him.
I assume he meant before he signs
Did he sign yet? I thought they already said he would be signing but I don’t know if pen hit paper
He is supposedly shopping for trade but hasn’t signed it yet…..
There is the chance nobody will pay his price and he ends up signing back with more guaranteed here than the tag would bring….
Not sure, but we’re not going to rescind it now. What would be the point?
Look for him to go to the Bears
I’ve heard that rumor
people keep saying Browns or Bears
but frankly I think that rumor is fueled strictly by speculation
The Bears are the new pipeline to Miami with Gase – so I think people just assume it
the Browns just have $ to spend
I don’t see anything credible from either team to warrant the truth of those rumors
Bears need WR, especially reliable ones, for their young QB and they have cleared a lot of cap.
F-off !
Beer for you
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably the 4th we got for Ajayi
Beer back to ya, Wyoming!
The Robert Quinn trade is interesting. I’ve liked him since he was in the draft. Details will be interesting.
🍺
Quinn is a terrific pass rusher but its a bit of a weird trade
I think it’s weird because nobody saw it coming. LOL
There goes our better 4th round pick for DE Quinn.
He’s a proven elite pass rusher, whatever 4th rd pick it is, he’s worth it.
Ajayi for Quinn
Is this it for Wake?
He plays the opposite side of Wake but not sure what this means for Wake if anything.
How do we afford 22M over 2 years for another pass rusher
Signs are pointing places…
even without Landry’s salary, it is a big contract to take on
Swapping 3rds?
is that some kind of sexual innuendo?
Does this mean we don’t re-sign Hayes?
We should maybe keep both as they are different type players.
This means we don’t need to draft a pass rusher that late and hope he is not a bust.
Rams are cash strapped?
Goff, Gurley, and Watkins ?
Didn’t they cut Tavon Austin or was that a rumor?
They either did or will release Austin.
They also have to pay Donald who could make more than Suh.
yeah that’s the other one I was trying to think of.
They want Harris to be a starter and we have Branch and now Quinn.
Who’s the bigger cap hit Branch or Wake?
Jarvis Landry
I think wake
as soon as the trade was announced I thought it spelled the end for wake
BTW folks for those keeping score – in addition to a Landry and Ajayi jersey, I own a Wake jersey style tshirt
So thinks are working out for me
Quinn plays the right side though so not sure this about Wake but more about more pass rush and deeper rotation.
I think you should buy Brady and Gronk jerseys.
except for the fun of getting a new young guy, this is better since we MUST have more sacks and Quinn is an All Pro edge rusher and only 27-28 yrs old so not a has-been. We know he can rush as good as any 4th round pick will as a rookie.
Release Timmons and Thomas and then trading Landry and all of a sudden there is cap space. James is another option.
That’s an upgrade at DE no matter where he plays or how many snaps.
Keep em fresh and rushing in waves.
If we do trade Landry, I hope we get a top TE in the 2nd (assuming that is what we get) with that pick. We could then either draft WR Anthony Miller as his replacement or if we have 2 second round picks we can go OL and TE in the second and draft someone like WR Braxton Berrios from the “U” in the 6th. He is a Wes Welker type player who excelled in the slot this past year for UM.
Just heard the swap of picks is the 1st rd.
1st? …. I heard 6th.
Lou is sending you a RT17 jersey Piggy
I have one already and that actually explains a lot…
Lol
What did you do to Nomar?
It makes more sense if you can see his tweet
LMAO – Did retaliate?
Mike Tannenbaum… YOU’RE FIRED!!! 😡
Why?
Serious Tim?
WFAN said it based on someone else’s updated report, I missed the name.
Per NFL.com – The deal includes a mid-round draft pick going to Los Angeles and a swapping of late-round picks, Rapoport added.
This would make more sense than swapping 1st, since the Rams would need to sweeten the pot to move up 12 spots.
Sony Michel – I can’t help it, love him.
Guice is life
Well I don’t know if Wake is done
But Hayes on the other hand
I think his time is over here
Maybe, But Hayes was a top 5 run-stuffer at DE last season, and the Rams list Quinn at OLB. Different schemes I know, but we ran a variety of looks and Base was less than sub percentage. We could play both these guys.
Quinn has 62.5 sacks in his career in only 7 yrs.
I have wanted this guy since he was in HS.
He did not go to Clemson, though, instead he played for UNC.
Forgive me for name-dropping again,
but he grew up right next door (sorta) to my grandfather’s farm in Ladson.
What was William Hayes injury? Can’t remember.
Hayes’s IR injury was his back. At his age it could be the end for him. Becauset he also had surgery on a hamstring after that. He went down in late November and only played in about 10 games.
I think Chris Carlin of WFAN read the report wrong regarding a swap of 1st rd picks because that isn’t being reported anywhere.
Peter Schrager @PSchrags 9m9 minutes ago
Quinn-to-Dolphins trade details, per source:
Rams get Miami’s 2018 4th and 6th round picks.
Dolphins get Robert Quinn and Los Angeles’s 2018 6th round pick.
Yeah that sounds right with us taking on a big contract.
Man if we dropped 12 spots in the first for that deal Tannenbaum would have to go into the witness protection program.
I’ll take Quinn for a 4th, hell yeah! A 6th is a 6th, who cares, lol.
Ajayi for Quinn
I’ll take it.
Naples, thanks for the info on Hayes. I was thinking he may still not be healthy which would make a lot of sense with this move. Scratch DE as a need on D.
Peter Schrager @PSchrags 1h1 hour ago
Dolphins are trading for Robert Quinn. Multiple teams were in the hunt until hours ago.
…Basically Quinn for a 4th, I’ll take it.
And a fat contract
Not that crazy for an elite pass rusher.
No just as it effects our cap.
Plenty of ways to make it work.
Well DL seems to be set. 🙂
Come on and win
Come on again
You’ll not seen nothing
Like the mighty Quinn
Get outta my head
Good one!
The 4th rd seemed to be the round everyone was taking a DE in their mocks.
Yep, that’s where I had us taking the Buckeye DE. This works too. Lol
Son – Dollars to donuts Miami will give Quinn a new contract extension that minimizes the cap hit through a signing bonus.
True. We made out good today.
There is so much that has to happen with the roster and cap in the upcoming weeks.
Quinn is a 4th and swap of 6ths…..
I like it!
Mid and late rounds pick for a proven player is a no-brainer. The Rams had to clear some cap to pay Aaron Donald who will be a UFA next year and they’re not letting him walk. He might trump Suh’s deal.
He definitely will beat Suh’s deal. He’s getting QB money
And by QB money, I mean nowadays QB money
Yeah he’s gonna make a mint. Top DT’s are the highest paid players in the league except for QBs.
The Rams switched to a 3-4 and didn’t like Quinn as a Lb particularly at his salary. He’s coming to a 4-3 where he is better suited.
Yep Wade Phillips. Quinn is a pure edge rusher, not a drop in coverage at times guy.
Yea, they said he looked uncomfortable playing 3-4 LB, but still put up 8.5 sacks. He definitely has a chance to put up better numbers with us back at DE.
This is why I don’t listen to any of the noise by these in the know writers……
Has anyone even heard a whisper about Quinn until now? Another reason not to get all worked up by things you hear and all the poo pooing speculation going on…..truth is they don’t have a clue either, just like us.
There were a few teams interested in Quinn and we didn’t hear much until a deal happened. Lot’s of stuff goes on that doesn’t get leaked.
Landry: ok Miami I made a deal to go to The stej. You get their 3rd and 4th.
Miami: 🖕
Son, you and I usually agree on many players, but I am not that high on Sony Michel because of his fumble issues. He is a very talented RB though and my fav of the Bulldog RB’s
I don’t think he’s the type we’re looking for anyway he’s another Drake but slower.
Don’t tell Piggs but I do like Guice.
Gase recently said he’s prefer all his backs to be the same so they can play any down (run, catch, block) and nothing changes on offense. He’d prefer 15/10/5 splits than 20/5/5.
Well then…
That is a skill you can improve on though. It’s a mindset to secure ball first and go 2nd.
I still can’t think of Williams’ first name
Think “The Omen” movie.
Damien right thanks
https://twitter.com/BigQ56/status/969691836527841281
He might have you Piggy?
That’s incredible
Was thinking about this; why would we franchise Landry to trade him for just a mid rd pick. Seems like an awful lot of risk for 2nd tier gain. So I would think we know he’ll have teams interested for at least 2nd rd range. A 3rd okay meh! After that why bother?
They don’t have to. Still think Landry may come back down to earth of salary demands…..
It’s possible. I really think Miami wants to see what his market is in real interest, not what outsiders suggest. To me, unless a team with a boatload of money loves him, he’s not getting much more than $10M per year. I’d be shocked to see us get a 1st or a 2nd and the trade team pays him north of $14M per.
That’s a Happy fan!
https://twitter.com/FinsOnly/status/969698868618256384
So if it’s our 4th and not Philly’s, what just a chub? LOL
I agree with that Tim. They gotta pay his 15M plus give Phins compensation….
I figure this has to be settled before FA starts. Gonna be interesting…..
You know what too, even though Landry has not signed the tag, the team gave Landry’s camp the go on seeking a trade. So that’s where a deal can be done without the fear of the tag restrictions. It’s early, this just started a few day ago.
It’s pretty obvious we’re moving on from him.
Miami doing a great marketing job with Baker Mayfield whether they like him or not. If we love him and are looking to trade up nobody knows. If we like him and would take him at #11, possible. If other teams drafting after us covet him but can’t move up past us, we’re a possibility for a trade.
I think CLE is the easiest destination for Landry. They have the cap and draft picks. They have to sell him on their plan. But if the money is there, that will also be a factor. LOL
If Cleveland even wants him….Carolina sure doesn’t and they have no WRs…..
Well that’s a given. They could take him on and what production he brings and not even blink.
No need to draft DE. Fill in the blanks?
1.
2.
3.
4.
6.
7a.
7b.
1. Nelson
2. Andrew’s
3. Penny
4. Leonard OLB
6. Benkert
7a. Bla
7b. Bla
Nelson will be gone before 11…..
How many people would cry if Phins moved up for him?
I would cry like a little girl if we moved up!
I hate moving up in this draft
I like moving down
If Nelson is off the board early – Will Hernandez looks prett good and might be an excellent pick
Or billy price
I still love that scenario where we trade with the Bills and end up with 2 first rounders
And of that happens I am really thinking Guice and OL in the first
Let’s say we keep Wake (trotters crossed) and we have a potential 3 man DE rotation of wake, Quinn and Harris
And we have Suh who is dominant
And then McMillan is healthy and the player we think we drafted
And Alexander really continues (I thought he played well in coverage late in the season)
And if Smith or Edmunds falls to us at 11
Well that might be a fantastic front 11
And I already like our secondary
Alexander Hamilton? LOL
Anthony
Damnit
I do believe either Smith or Edmunds is gonna fall to us unless 2 teams above us both get their QBs in FA. Even then, Buff and the Cards might vault over us since they did not get theirs.
This would be a change!
You still need a to cover TEs
I haven’t looked at anything but cover LB’s in this draft!
By the way I prepared a wedge scouting report to run on Sunday last week
Harold Landry
So just ignore it guys 🙄
If we trade Landry
Then I think WR becomes an option again
And this guy – he might be special
Appeatently clocked 4.35 at Alabama
(
(Lightning strikes piggy in the squiggly)
The O line people would lose their minds if we went WR.
I know
Would be funny though
Piggy, still wondering how people think 6-0 to 6-2 DBs and LBs 200-240 cover 6-4 to 6-6 240 to 260 TEs?
I honestly think anthony might fit this role for us
Maybe, but there is no consistent remedy. The TE’s have an advantage based on the rules. Nobody is playing 6-5/6-6 250 guys at S and LB. It’s always a mismatch. Pass rush nullifies that shit.
WY, I like Gallup a lot
Plus he has a great name
But Ridley is the top of the class
Piggy loves him some WR
(A tornado sweeps the blog away)
So what do you think we get for Landry? Remember it’s not a pure value deal, it’s to avoid letting him walk as a UDFA for nothing. I think it has to be a player we really like or a 1-3 rd pick.
The trade we made for Quinn was us wanting another edge rusher and the LAR needing to free up cap for Donald. They took a 4th and a swap of 6th’s to do that. Travis Austin is next for them.
First round pick or bust!
Nah, it needs to be a day two pick to make all of this worth while. Why fuck with a franchise tag for minimal gain? I’ll take your first though. LOL
Looks to me like Wake, Quinn, Branch, Harris and probably Malveaux at DE. Suh, Godchaux, Phillips and Taylor at DT.
We might finally utilize Wake as a situational pass rusher – 20-25 snaps off the edge, not play the run all day too. We already have a 9 man DL rotation. How many teams have that?
They are spending a ton of money on that line…..let’s see some results!
Teams spend on QBs and how to stop QBs. I’m a big believer in being stout up front and pressuring the QB. I’m okay at LB if everyone is ready to go. I like the upside of our secondary a lot. For me it’s about being solid up front on the OL and I think we can compete with anyone. Oh yeah, we need one of those TE’s. 🙂
I still think we need to upgrade at RG, LG, RT….if we don’t resign James. And, that’s if Tunsil improves greatly.
Where do you think Davis fits?
I think he will start or be the first guy off the bench G/T. We found a UDFA who’s good.
Robert Quinn has 175 tackles, 62.5 sacks, 21 FF, 2 FR, 16 PD and 1TD in 7 seasons over 95 games.
Piggy, if Nelson isn’t there I could see us going Guice at #11. The coaching changes to me said the RB position will be a bigger part of what we do. Then go OL and TE.
We don’t need a QB, we need a backup. It’s not like we can never revisit this situation if Tannehill doesn’t pan out. What no QBs will ever be available again? LOL
What if Edmonds is there?
Maybe, but is a LB the key to this team getting better? Edmunds is maybe another Anthony – big, strong, fast but not great. He’s also viewed more as a 3-4 OLB.
I hope we target more offense – OL, TE and RB at BPA all the way,
Team needs better LB and of course OL
RB @ 11 is a luxury this team doesn’t need, unless they have him graded that high. To me, there’s plenty of RBs to go around later.
Sorry M
It’s Edmunds……
I dout they know anything?
Ya Piggy but there are 3 wr’s around the 3rd and 4th picks that I like! No to a 1st or 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!
Gallup, Michael
Miller, Anthony
Burnett, Deontay
Jarvis meet reality. Reality this is Jarvis, a slot receiver.
OUR slot receiver
Son, I hope he realizes that he’s not getting what he thinks he’s worth and stays. But I don’t see them paying $16M for a year. If he signs the tag next week they will have to, but hopefully he knows he won’t get anymore next year and signs a long term contract with Miami for a more reasonable price. If they offered a a $13M per year average as reported, he should jump on it.
