The Dolphins looked like they answered the call against the Bengals. The defense played a very good game, really limiting the Bengals offense. The Dolphins shut out the Bengals in the 1st half, leading at the half 14-0. Talk about a tale of 2 halves, Ryan Tannehill completed 12 of 18 attempts for 114 yards and 1 TD, in the familiar short passing offense. All was well for the Dolphins, even through the 3rd quarter, although I thought they were a couple of plays that gave the indication that the wheels were ready to come off the tracks. The first was the ST’s hit by Martell Spaight, which at the time when the flag went up, I nearly lost my mind. It was a completely legal, legit hit, and I thought they flagged it for a late hit out of bounds, but it turned out, after the hit, Spaight was jawing at the Bengals returner Alex Erickson, and was flagged for a 15 YD unsportsmanlike conduct. That was #1. That moved the starting field position from the Bengals 14 yard line to the 29, big difference, especially after the Bengals struggled for 3 QTR’s.
Number 2 was just a few plays later, the Bengals were at midfield, and Dalton threw a short pass to TE CJ Uzomah, and Uzomah had to go up for the ball, and Dolphins safety T.J. McDonald came from behind and hit Uzomah a few milliseconds after the ball went through his hands. It wasn’t a vicious hit, McDonald contacted Uzomah with his hands first to his back, but he was leaping into the player, and then he eventually knocked the player to the turf, but not in a dirty way at all. That was called for the 2nd unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for 15 yards, and in my mind, that’s where the unraveling started.
The Bengals went on to score a TD on that drive, 30 yards of Dolphins penalties, which ended with Dalton hitting RB Joe Mixon for an 18 yard TD to start the 4th quarter. Then the real scary stuff happened. Grant returns the kickoff to the 19 yard line, and Gore on 1st down is stuffed after a 2 yard gain. 2nd and 12, Tannehill is sacked by DT Geno Atkins for a loss of 8, the ball now at the 13 yard line. Tunsil was injured at this point, and he was replaced by swingman Sam Young. Tannehill found Drake in a short pass over the middle, and Drake picked up the 1st down gaining 18 yards. At the 31 yard line, Kalen Ballage got his first carry of the game for 2 yards, and then IT happened. With Sam Young struggling to block anyone really, and the Bengals sensing the weakness there, they overloaded the right side, and sure enough there was immediate pressure on Tannehill as soon as he took the shotgun snap, and he attempted to roll right, and there was additional pressure from that side as well, and Tannehill inexplicably while attempting the throw the ball away, threw it low and it hit the helmet of RG Jesse Davis, and caromed into the waiting hands of DE Michael Johnson who returned the INT for a TD, which tied the game at 17-17. No excuse, that was a terrible play by Tannehill, who could have thrown it to the sideline out of bounds.
I’m not going to bother giving the blow by blow any further, I can sum it up with Sam Young couldn’t block anyone, The Bengals had all the momentum, and we don’t have a QB that can rise above everything and bring us back. Ryan Tannehill is not the problem, but I now believe he is not the answer. We’re not an explosive offense, we can’t put 40 points on a team, and the way the NFL has evolved, I think you have to. Too many things have to be aligned just right in order for Tannehill to succeed, and I think we’ve tried and continue to do just that, but in this league, the QB has to have that confidence, that killer instinct that I think Ryan Tannehill doesn’t have. He’s not a terrible QB, he’s just not the type of player that can lift his team, and I’m certain this will be his last season as the Dolphins QB.
This week can be extremely ugly, facing the #1 defense in the NFL, very likely without our starting LT Laremy Tunsil. The Bears are allowing the 2nd fewest points per game, 16.3, which is pretty close to what we score per game at 19.8, good for 28th out of 32 teams in the NFL. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. The Bears incidentally, are scoring 27.8 PPG, but that’s a little skewed due to the 48 points they hung on TB before their BYE week. Rookie QB Mitch Trubisky threw 6 TD’s in that game, but the 3-1 Bears don’t really score like that consistently, and they don’t have to with that defense. The Bears probably send fruit baskets and flowers to Jon Gruden weekly for trading Khalil Mack to their team.
This is a game we have no business winning, and yet for some reason, I have a feeling we hang around in this game, and possibly even win it, just because it makes no sense. No prediction this week, who cares anyway. It’s bizarre to look at the NFL standings, and see the Miami Dolphins there at 3-2, 1st place AFC East. I think about Jakeem Grant and how much more important he becomes each week, and then conversely, I think about Devante Parker and how close people are to saying “Who?” when you say his name. Are 1st RD Dolphins WR’s cursed? Yatil Green anyone? I think about the defense, and realize that this is probably the last year for Cam Wake, and I get the feeling he doesn’t have that storybook ending here. Shame, he deserves it, but I think maybe father time has finally reined the big boy in. I think about the young players we have on defense that are coming on, Jerome Baker, Minkah who started out great, Raekwon who needed to shake off some rust after being out last year, Xavien Howard, who is a top 10 CB, Vincent Taylor who keeps on getting better and Davon Godchaux too. Add in good ole Bobby McCain too. I guess what I’m saying is, draft a QB in the 1st RD next year, there are some really good young pieces to build around. Next year, always next year. I know, I know, we’re 3-2, probably soon to be 3-3, but we will win the Fest game, because . . .

And despite that easy score….
I really don’t GAF who wins this game, though!
But I WILL say… I’m rooting for my man Saquon!
Yeah it’s BFD game ( big phucking deal)
I might get sued
Oh and Mike E I totally agree with OD about your writing I’m honestly surprised you haven’t been picked up yet. Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing you next week.
Thanks man – Looking forward to seeing you and your clan as well. You’ve got a big group this year, eh?
Bob coming? He’s a cool dude man, I like him
Bob and his wife and Jim who was there twice early on. He was at the Ramada and he went to the small Fest with Baltimore, Stanger, Piggs, OD and me.
Him and his two sons and their girlfriends.
I think I might need one more ticket.
SAQUON!!! NICE 45-yard run!!!
Barkley got loose
My attorney doesn’t sue. He fixes the problem.
Lol
Glad you’re all good Wyo
You too D , hope all is good
Thanks Son
That was the lamest shit I’ve EVER seen. Shame on them, Bucks father just rolled over in his grave.
Well looky there!
There’s a pretty good Texas Tech LB ! 😉

Cute. And this is the type of BS why the MSM had continued to call Michael Cohen the “fixer” (rather than attorney) for President Trump.
Looky there a hurried/panicked QB didn’t doink it off a dudes helmet
Right and the score was what? It was 24-6 at the half because of that shit. Eli had no time to make a throw worth anything. You can’t run your offense if you can’t throw beyond ten yards. You can’t win a game with a great RB being your only option either.
Trench play is still the key.
I feel so bad for my family and friends who are Giants fans. 1-5 is a death sentence unless you believe in miracles.
Man… SAQUON ROCKS!!!
Lightning lead Vancouver 1-0 middle of 2nd period.
HOCKEY IS BACK!!
Out for tonight.
He’s really special
Hope the giants can fox some of their other issues
You’re really special too, see you next week buddy
Oops, forgot
🐖💨🖕
🍻 🐖🎉
WOOOOOOO, SAQUON!!!
Why are they throwing to 22 when they have 26?
Roughing, lol
That roughing the passer call… WTF???
Anyone else see similarities with OL issues with the Giants and Dolphins? You can’t function like this? You want to tell me I’m making excuses. Go right ahead. You can’t play like this. It sucks!
The Phins o-line may not be the best in the league but there weren’t playing all that bad leading up to Sunday’s debacle after Tunsil went out. Pass protection was more than good enough for Tannehill to get it done and throwing the ball more than 10 yds or the lack of passes beyond 10 yds was on him. He chooses to hit the wr short of the first down marker. It’s his M.O. and other teams know this. Those passes are low % passes for him. He’ll throw the ball deep like he did to Stills in the endzone or to Parker down the sideline because, if he misses, it’s an incomplete pass but if he’s throwing over 10 yds, especially over the middle, chances are pretty good it’s going to end in disaster like his 2nd int vs CIN
Welcome back Lou. I used my Dobson larvae lure and it’s awesome. First cast. LOL
You should have been watching TCU vs TT!
Texas Tech with the win!

M – I’m missing your point here. What are you implying?
The Bears are giving up just over 16 points a game, Miami is scoring just over 16 points a game….perfect! They can’t lose!
We match up with them better than the last 2 teams!
Wyo – I don’t think we match up well with the Bears at all when we’re on offense
why not?
They have one less allstar on the front 4
LB’rs and DB’s are a wash?
I didn’t say we are a good match up!
Just better than the Bengals
I think we matched up beautifully with the Bengals until Tunsil got hurt
Well there is this
Son, I will be watching UCF vs Memphis but don’t think they stand a chance against UCF. Their defense is not that good this year. I will be watching Memphis CB TJ Carter and RB Darrell Henderson. Henderson is only 205 but is a great receiving back w/good vision and balance. Not sure of his 40 time but he is sneaky “football” fast. Ya blink and he is gone. He is averaging a crazy 11.8 yards a carry w/12 TD’s and 19.8 yards a catch w/2 TD’s this season. He averaged 8.9 yards a carry last year.
I just took care of a Dolphins fan from FLA, cool cat (for you M). He said he’s going to take a look at our blog, and he likes to talk Dolphins, so be on the lookout admins please
Did you warn him that we can be a bunch of middle-aged middle-schoolers at times? 🙂
He’ll figure that out after reading the first 50 comments. lol
His name is Alejandro – Not sure what his screen name will be though. I told him to email me when he’s ready to throw down a comment on the blog, so I should have advanced notice, but sometimes I get busy, or I’m just not around.

Awesome that Jim is coming again….awesome guy. And no problem with the extra tix at this point if you need (and your math on that does add up to 9 rather than Son +7). Just let me know.
And the Ravens game was not the small Fest…. was just some folks getting together for a Phins game (even if was Chef Wa’s debut event). The main Fest was in Tampa that year.
Yeah it is nine total. A new girlfriend was added late. Cutie too, proud of that boy.
I don’t think I met Jim, unless it was at the first Fest (Redskins). Sounds good man, we have a nice group!
Incidentally, my wife was feeling really guilty that my younger son isn’t coming, so she reached out to him and asked him if he could miss a day or two of classes, so we may have a late addition as well.
Stanger – Do you have any extra tix just in case?
Mike E — remember when told you our new guy reserved more than I asked for? Well didn’t want to quibble cause the seats were so much better (and was thinking stubhub if not). At this point have exactly one ticket left.
HULKFEST — Sunday 10/21 vs Lions
Sat eve meet-up as always plus our new to be usghe event — tunes with the Dog on Friday on Hollywood Beach. And traditional Chef Warren spread at the tailgate.
Ended up with Sec 317 (like the 40) and way down lower than we normally get. Seats in rows, 10, 13 and 15 in Sec 317.
IN
Hulk
Mike E (+2)
Pig
Doggy (+2)
Son (+8)
Rock
stanger (+4)
OD
Phelon (+1 and own seats)
Toba (+1)
Bookman (+1)
Brian NY (+son…in OD’s seats)
Twice
Naples (+1)
Stanger – Looks like Sonny needs one, so he gets first dibs at this point, but if he doesn’t need it, and Lucas decides he can make it, I’ll let you know. All premature, I was just asking just in case. Thanks Jon, you the man!
Already locked Son’s in…… still a spare ticket.
Mike, I’ll find one there if I have to you tell that boy to get there. Sounds like Stanger has it covered though.
You rock Stanger.
Sonny – Thanks man – Sounds like Jon has us covered as per usghe.
Just don’t leave your tickets at the hotel!
LMAO!! I’m quite capable of doing that as you know
I was there for the sad ride to the stadium on that one…… didn’t OD save the day?
Yessir! OD was a knight in shining armor!
I haven’t checked the standings lately but doesn’t Chicago have one of the best overall defenses in the league? That pretty much means we don’t match up well with them. Lol
Yeah, we’re fuced
Awesome
The last time my friend Jim was there, the Baltimore game, I was sitting next to his son Justin and I called the pick six that Jones got. I said watch here comes a pick six and then boom!
Even if we lost….. man was that a game to watch. My lasting memory is all the Ravens fan in the back of our section in the shade. And as a guy who moved down here….. that thinned blood thing is not a myth.
No doubt man. It’s sooooo much better under the cover.
That kicker we drafted from Florida missed a FG that would have put it in OT.
————–
Good. I’m happen we didn’t sign him.
*I’m happy
I would have brought him in for a look. It’s not like we can’t use O-line help, and I think I’d give him a shot at OG too. However, it’s all academic if the Jags sign him
One week to go for the Fest. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and meeting others for the first time. My Lions fan buddy is looking forward to it as well, he’s a good guy. We won’t get in until around 9:30pm Friday, and will be ready for a few drinks.
Sounds good man. He’s aware of the sacrifice we make at every Fest of a fan of the opposing team right?
I have made him aware 😀
Tunes with the Dog will be going on at the Neptune then. But exactly when it ends is uncertain. But guarantee people will be partying Neptune way. You have contact info for folks?
I do Stanger, thanks. We are staying at the Sheldon, we will likely head over to the Neptune when we get checked in.

Peyton Manning called Adam Gase the smartest person he knew because Gase was smart enough to leave Manning alone and let him run the offense.
What a wonderful compliment . . . Wait . . . .
proflou — where you been man? A bunch of us have missed you a bunch.
Lol. I highly doubt that
Then you underestimate yourself….. and truth that your absence has been noted a multitude of times, even if less so as the months passed.
Mike, you already in Florida?
No, we’re going next Wednesday
Oh I thought your comment I just took care of a Dolphins fan from FLA was because you were there.
Tim – No, that’s why I mentioned it, it was kind of odd. Young guy in visiting from Miami. He’s in for a couple of weeks, needed contact lenses, so he made an appointment for an exam and bought some contacts.
Had a guy come co-sign on a bond last weekend and was wearing a Dolphins hat. Told him I was a die hard fan as well. He then went on a 15 min rant about how bad and embarrassing the Pats game was and bitched about everything we bitch about. I showed him the blog and told him he would fit right in (lol) and should join. I see no new members from Pensacola so I guess since the Cincy meltdown he is probably to pissed to talk to anyone about the Phins.
Did you give him a hand?
Does Tannehill’s shoulder suddenly hurt because he looked like shit in practice all week and they said he might get benched? Hmm, I wonder
Hater
phelon — did you get Ken your contact info for the Fest? He’s the Com Czar…..will keep everyone informed on a bunch of levels. And hoping you make tunes with the Dog on Friday. Bring a cooler and your voice.
Haven’t given them to Ken, but Son has them.
Phelon when are you getting in next week?
Are you staying by the rest of us?
Don’t know yet. Waiting to see if an international gig is going to torpedo my plans.
Oh come on man this is the Fest get your priorities straight
You hitting the Bears game? Will be there not too far from your seats, even if a row down (Sec 117). Could meet up.
Cash is Cash, Brother. And it’s a lot of cash.
When is 🐖💨getting there?
You will know when you smell the gas.
You got that right.
I fly in Thursday morning
But I’m not going to be in Hollywood beach until Saturday
sounds like I should have lot of people I can finally pass my 2 month long cold onto .. 🙂
Actual sun and heat might knock that crap out for you.
That or swim in the red tide and get a whole new set of problems, lol.
substantial amounts of alcohol wont hurt either..
Good to hear Tunsil is good to go this Sunday, we’re going need him against the Bears defense.
Yeah man, we’re definitely going to need him, even if he can’t go the whole game. Sounds like he’s going to be OK though.
Did you hear about Didi Gregorius? Needs Tommy John surgery, probably hurt himself in Game 2 against the Sox
Why do you think he might not be able to play the whole game?
Did not hear that about Gregorius. It’s amazing to me how baseball players get hurt so often. Something ain’t right. I don’t remember that happening so much when we were kids.
Go Brewers!
I hope it’s the Brewers and the Astros, this will be a happy blog
Until one of our teams loses…lol
Tim – I just meant if Tunsil is still hurting. He may be banged up, not just a possible concussion. As far as the players getting hurt, and having TJ surgery, maybe players just disappeared when they got those injuries, instead of being able to have it corrected. It sure does seem, especially with pitchers that at some point, it’s almost expected that they will need TJ surgery, so in that regard, I agree.
Good luck Bookman!
Thanks, you too!

Thank you Phelon. See you next week
Ken,
Did your cell number change since the 2016 Fest?
I can answer that one… no it didn’t and the com czar has more info on you than Hop Sing does.
Lol, as long as I not black listed
Phelon
Looking forward to meeting you!
Phelon – C’mon you damn criminal, skip the job, come to the Fest! The point of having money is to enjoy yourself, so come to the Fest and enjoy! Hard to argue that logic
AND, besides, even if Miami loses this game, Phelon doesn’t owe me anything until the Fins are eliminated from the playoffs. C’mon, Phelon, don’t be a “no show.”
Bookman:
It is still the same
Thanks,
Mine is also.
KEN:–THANKS for the vine. See you a week from tomorrow at Dave & Buster’s. And tell Brian I’ll have his two game tix for him!
If you told me back when me and all you guys were young that the Brewers and Astros could play in the World Series except the Astros would be the American League team and the Brewers the National League team we would have called you an idiot.
Ya it’s very strange! But I don’t notice so much as each year passes
Happy Birthday Sonny! I hope you enjoy your day bud! Celebrate, but leave something for the Fest! 🙂

sad but they cut Sam Young … but after that performance, they had to do that.
We can’t have the DE’s eyes light up like that and race unimpeded to the QB on every down.
They promoted Jamiyus Pittman to the 53.
He might be inactive for tomorrow,
but he was a disruptive force at nose tackle at UCF
and they were the undefeated national champions over Saban’s* 1-loss bunch.

Happy Birthday Son. Can’t wait to meet you for real.
It seems that Gase doesn’t have much tolerance for players who when their # is called and they can’t perform up to a certain level they don’t last long. Once he loses confidence in the player where he doesn’t feel he can put them in the game again, what’s the point in keeping them. See Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas in 2016, and now Sam Young.
Let’s see what Zach Sterup can do.
Let’s hope we don’t have to see what he can do. But the way we get banged up on the OL we most likely will.
RIP
Packers Hall of Famer Jim Taylor, remembered as NFL’s last great fullback, dies at 83
I don’t understand “last” great fullback? There’s been plenty after him and Csonka was one of them.
good point … writer must’ve considered Czonk to be a RB.
Comparisons between Taylor and Jim Brown, star fullback for the Cleveland Browns, were quite popular, and Vince Lombardi offered the following assessment: “Jim Brown will give you that leg and then take it away from you. Jim Taylor will give it to you and then ram it through your chest!”
While Taylor led the league in rushing touchdowns with 15 in 1961, he is best remembered for his performance the following year, which was unquestionably the finest of his career. Taylor was named league MVP in 1962 after rushing for 1,474 yards and 19 touchdowns in a 14-game season.
sorry
all quotes above from
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/packers-hall-of-famer-jim-taylor-remembered-as-nfls-last-great-fullback-dies-at-83/ar-BBOkNtC?ocid=U270DHP
Naples, the game was also very different back when Jim Taylor played. Fullbacks were featured so much more back then. It changed from decade to decade on how they were used. Now there are only a few teams that utilize them with many teams often using a TE in that role as a blocker.
Happy birthday Son
Thanks guys I appreciate it.
I’m truly grateful for the birthday wishes here you guys are awesome but there is one Birthday wish that for the last several years has been Richmond Webb. I friended him on FB a long time ago and every year he sends me a personalized Happy Birthday wish on my wall. It’s fucking cool. He’s a great guy. I hope he goes into the hall.
Looking forward to next week, think we find a way to win tomorrow.
That’s cool. I think Richmond Webb is a HOFer. He was one of the best LTs in the game during his career. He had some great battles with Bruce Smith.
UCF 18 game win streak is in serious jeopardy in Memphis
I’m surprised as well but I told you about sneaky “football” fast RB Darrell Henderson.
Henderson has 182 yds rushing so far.
Happy B-Day!
Son, I see ND squeaked by.
Naples, Did not realize that about Henderson. Busy as heck at work and only caught half of 2nd qtr. Trying to watch now but still very busy and have to drive to next county soon,
Happy Birthday, Son.
Son, another classic UCF/Memphis game! Congrats! Henderson was balling for Memphis. They couldn’t keep it up for 4 qtrs and lose a close one again. I couldn’t really pay attention to the game so couldn’t see how well Memphis CB TJ Carter played.
Happy B-Day, Son!
BBMike,
Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon, looks NICE!
Will check him out, Thanks bro!
Happy Birthday Son.
M13, one thing you have to give Gase credit for is once he sees players on the OL or other positions can’t do their job, they don’t stick around. Sitton and Kilgore going down really hurt us but at least he doesn’t keep putting players out there when they have proven they can’t do the job when called upon. He has a low tolerance for players who don’t next man up. Yes Young played well last year at RT when called on but 2018 is a different year and he has always said your past or draft status doesn’t matter. It’s what you’re doing now. That’s a good sign moving forward. In the past we’ve had HC’s who keep rolling with those guys over and over.
In the big scheme of things even though he’s got Tannehill’s back for now, if Ryan doesn’t clean up his game despite other circumstances around him, he’ll make changes there too.
I posted this as a continuation of allowing a HC to build his program over time and not overnight. This is year 3, not his 5th season. Know what I mean? He’s still churning based on performance, not status. It means nothing to him if you don’t produce. He puts other players on notice doing that. A mistake here and there is one thing, a constant will not be tolerated as we’ve seen.
Good post, Bro! I concur. I only wish we’d decent backups on the O-Line to begin with… that’s my only qualm, man.
Of course. We’d all love superior depth. But even with Larsen and Swanson we were okay. Once Tunsil went down the flood gates opened. How deep can you be?
Injuries can change your team. Some say no excuses but I say talent matters. You can’t keep losing starters and be the same team. We got through TC and the PS with very few injuries and then BOOM we got hit with a bunch within 5 games throughout our roster. Some done for the year and some for a few weeks. It’s taxing. So when next man up is called upon and they can’t handle it, you have to find someone else. But you never know where and who it will be.
Look at the entire league. We’re right there but need to win a game. You can’t lose 3 or more in a row. Tough test tomorrow.

I’d REALLY encourage y’all to check this out! I know it’s outta nowhere, but these are interviews with elderly people from the year 1929. One gentleman who is interviewed here actually served in the Civil War. Another speaks about his grandparents, who were likely around before the founding of this country. This is QUITE the time capsule. INCREDIBLE!!! 👀
Really interesting but hard to quantify for today. It was such a different era in time. People thought different for all sorts of reasons. They only knew what they knew. I would refer to them as survivalists. They had no other choice. Our world moves so much faster than they could ever imagine. The average person didn’t drive in automobiles or fly or know anything about any of that. Now it’s much different. Innovation was starting for them, and now look at what we have. Evolution! It was once sticks and rocks, then more advanced tools and so on. Now we have smart phones where we can look shit up at the touch of a button. Where am I? GPS will tell you. Think about that.
So when we look at God and/or evolution, they can both still exist. Whatever you believe it is happening and it will not stop because of perception. Reality trumps perception every time. No denying that. 🙂
Bro… LOL, I think you’ve over-analyzing the whole thing, man! Take it for what it’s worth… that’s where we came from, in 1929. It’s just MOST fascinating! 😉
I WISH we had a time-capsule like this, for EVERY generation, dating back to the beginning of man on Earth. I mean, just to witness our evolution! 🙂
