2018 Season – Game 6 – Bears @ Dolphins

The Dolphins looked like they answered the call against the Bengals.  The defense played a very good game, really limiting the Bengals offense.  The Dolphins shut out the Bengals in the 1st half, leading at the half 14-0.  Talk about a tale of 2 halves, Ryan Tannehill completed 12 of 18 attempts for 114 yards and 1 TD, in the familiar short passing offense.  All was well for the Dolphins, even through the 3rd quarter, although I thought they were a couple of plays that gave the indication that the wheels were ready to come off the tracks.  The first was the ST’s hit by Martell Spaight, which at the time when the flag went up, I nearly lost my mind.  It was a completely legal, legit hit, and I thought they flagged it for a late hit out of bounds, but it turned out, after the hit, Spaight was jawing at the Bengals returner Alex Erickson, and was flagged for a 15 YD unsportsmanlike conduct.  That was #1.  That moved the starting field position from the Bengals 14 yard line to the 29, big difference, especially after the Bengals struggled for 3 QTR’s.

Number 2 was just a few plays later, the Bengals were at midfield, and Dalton threw a short pass to TE CJ Uzomah, and Uzomah had to go up for the ball, and Dolphins safety T.J. McDonald came from behind and hit Uzomah a few milliseconds after the ball went through his hands.  It wasn’t a vicious hit, McDonald contacted Uzomah with his hands first to his back, but he was leaping into the player, and then he eventually knocked the player to the turf, but not in a dirty way at all.  That was called for the 2nd unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for 15 yards, and in my mind, that’s where the unraveling started.

The Bengals went on to score a TD on that drive, 30 yards of Dolphins penalties, which ended with Dalton hitting RB Joe Mixon for an 18 yard TD to start the 4th quarter.  Then the real scary stuff happened.  Grant returns the kickoff to the 19 yard line, and Gore on 1st down is stuffed after a 2 yard gain.  2nd and 12, Tannehill is sacked by DT Geno Atkins for a loss of 8, the ball now at the 13 yard line.  Tunsil was injured at this point, and he was replaced by swingman Sam Young.  Tannehill found Drake in a short pass over the middle, and Drake picked up the 1st down gaining 18 yards.  At the 31 yard line, Kalen Ballage got his first carry of the game for 2 yards, and then IT happened.  With Sam Young struggling to block anyone really, and the Bengals sensing the weakness there, they overloaded the right side, and sure enough there was immediate pressure on Tannehill as soon as he took the shotgun snap, and he attempted to roll right, and there was additional pressure from that side as well, and Tannehill inexplicably while attempting the throw the ball away, threw it low and it hit the helmet of RG Jesse Davis, and caromed into the waiting hands of DE Michael Johnson who returned the INT for a TD, which tied the game at 17-17.  No excuse, that was a terrible play by Tannehill, who could have thrown it to the sideline out of bounds.

I’m not going to bother giving the blow by blow any further, I can sum it up with Sam Young couldn’t block anyone, The Bengals had all the momentum, and we don’t have a QB that can rise above everything and bring us back.  Ryan Tannehill is not the problem, but I now believe he is not the answer.  We’re not an explosive offense, we can’t put 40 points on a team, and the way the NFL has evolved, I think you have to.  Too many things have to be aligned just right in order for Tannehill to succeed, and I think we’ve tried and continue to do just that,  but in this league, the QB has to have that confidence, that killer instinct that I think Ryan Tannehill doesn’t have.  He’s not a terrible QB, he’s just not the type of player that can lift his team, and I’m certain this will be his last season as the Dolphins QB.

This week can be extremely ugly, facing the #1 defense in the NFL, very likely without our starting LT Laremy Tunsil.  The Bears are allowing the 2nd fewest points per game, 16.3, which is pretty close to what we score per game at 19.8, good for 28th out of 32 teams in the NFL.  Sounds like a recipe for disaster.  The Bears incidentally, are scoring 27.8 PPG, but that’s a little skewed due to the 48 points they hung on TB before their BYE week.  Rookie QB Mitch Trubisky threw 6 TD’s in that game, but the 3-1 Bears don’t really score like that consistently, and they don’t have to with that defense.  The Bears probably send fruit baskets and flowers to Jon Gruden weekly for trading Khalil Mack to their team.

This is a game we have no business winning, and yet for some reason, I have a feeling we hang around in this game, and possibly even win it, just because it makes no sense.  No prediction this week, who cares anyway.  It’s bizarre to look at the NFL standings, and see the Miami Dolphins there at 3-2, 1st place AFC East.  I think about Jakeem Grant and how much more important he becomes each week, and then conversely, I think about Devante Parker and how close people are to saying “Who?” when you say his name.  Are 1st RD Dolphins WR’s cursed?  Yatil Green anyone?  I think about the defense, and realize that this is probably the last year for Cam Wake, and I get the feeling he doesn’t have that storybook ending here.  Shame, he deserves it, but I think maybe father time has finally reined the big boy in.  I think about the young players we have on defense that are coming on, Jerome Baker, Minkah who started out great,  Raekwon who needed to shake off some rust after being out last year, Xavien Howard, who is a top 10 CB,  Vincent Taylor who keeps on getting better and Davon Godchaux too.  Add in good ole Bobby McCain too.  I guess what I’m saying is, draft a QB in the 1st RD next year, there are some really good young pieces to build around.  Next year, always next year.  I know, I know, we’re 3-2, probably soon to be 3-3, but we will win the Fest game, because . . .

It’s very hard to chant “we want osweiller”

    It doesn’t sound right

Write that down the Dolphins just threw to the middle of the field

  8. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Amendola busy today

Look at all these lasers in the middle of the field today…hmmm

  9. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I think Parker just went in the game.

  10. New Age's avatar New Age says:

This has a very poorly managed drive. I don;t see where Gase has any confidence in his own offense. Telling.

  11. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Shitty deep ball again

  12. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    That isn’t doesnt upset me

Needed to throw it deep at some point in order to get points

Parker didn’t do a very good job fighting for it either

  13. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

ok so there was the throw to Parker. However he gave up the ball to the defense.

  14. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    Good call…..horrible throw

  15. D's avatar D says:

Parker should have come back and fought the defender for that ball

  16. I still can’t believe RT got that enormous contract,
He hasn’t proven himself worthy of insane money, and can’t stay on the field either

  17. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Oz needed to throw that to the flag.

  18. New Age's avatar New Age says:

There is nothing in 5 years of work that makes me want Parker next year.

  19. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    Piggy,
How about “BO, BO, we like BO!”…. wait

  20. Parker sucks, another 1st round draft bust

  21. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Parker never had a chance at that pass, that was on Brock. Tannehill just closer to his return

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I would have to watch it again

It doesn’t drive me crazy to throw a risky deep ball with under 30 secs left

But seemed to me that Parker could fount a little more and went up for it
Aggressively going up and getting the ball at its highest point is what I want from Parker

But then again I just want him to be active and he never does that either

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I agree. We got him because of his jumping ability which is rarely seen. Just a wasted pick at this point.

  22. Last weeks Landry jersey went to the HOF. We don’t want that when we have,,,
    Devante Parker!
Btw Parker Jersey got put in waste container, lmao jk

  23. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

That was a poor throw….. no way Parker could get back to that pass.

  24. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Mike E, I have to agree with the announcer. Parker allows himself to be pushed against the edge on all of his deep routes. Makes it harder on the QB and easier on the DB. The number of times I’ve seen him try to jump over the DB is rare. He usually just watches the ball go to someone else. Not the type of alpha I want in my WR room.

  25. Parker wouldn’t have caught it no matter what the throw is, or he would have fumbled it or got a penalty, he’s just a screwup first round bust.
he sucks, he’s had 5 years to prove he sucks, and he has done well proving it.

  26. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Parker can’t stay that close to the sideline because it takes too perfect a throw to complete it.

  27. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

That throw in practice is supposed to land on the pile on and it was way short of it

  28. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Parker has 2 catches for 40 yards…for the year. He’s had multiple QBs throwing to him and yet, in his almost 5 year career hasn’t hit 2000 yards. He’s a total waste of space on the 53.

  29. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

    Halftime adjustment???

  30. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’m not praising Parker in any way, but that was a poor throw that he never had a chance on. If the pass was thrown deep enough, it could have been a TD. The underthrow is what caused the INT

  31. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I wonder if the awe inspiring speech gase gave at halftime sounded anything like all the teachers in the peanuts cartoon

  32. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Well that was too easy

  33. This is why fins are doomed to mediocrity, we don’t draft or retain well, and when we do, we don’t retain quality talent when we do hit a pick.
This is a poorly run organization, and those kind of organizations never get very many wins.
Until we start becoming smarter, more efficient and better in the FO and coaching departments, we won’t break 500, IMO
I believe 8-8 is the most we can expect when we wasted so much money and picks.
At some point in time We will have to manage smarter to get over the mediocrity hump, but We are 2 years away minimum imo.

  34. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

ok that was a mess on defense the whole way.
Let’s hope that was kinda fluky and not a result of great adjustments.

  35. wow, just give this game away too, why not, SMH
This team has no heart among other deficiencies

  36. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

That was a cheap shot to Gore’s head.

  37. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Now that was a bad throw

  38. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    FUCK

  39. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Ladies and gentleman

    Your second half Miami Chokers

  40. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Big Cock Brock reminds us why Fales should be ahead of him

  41. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Ryan, did you spirit walk into your QB buddy?

  42. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

    Well shit

  43. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

    No controversy!!!

  44. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Brock the back-up reveals himself.

  45. We might be able to win 5 games this year, but not looking like a W today.

We will get a very high first round draft pick to squander on some shitty Draft bust

  46. D's avatar D says:

Osweiler definitely knows how to use his check down

  47. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The best player on offense today is Nick O’Leary
A guy who hasn’t been here long enough to suck yet

  48. D's avatar D says:

And he knows how to throw it away lol. Accuracy is off and on

  49. We are seeing Landrys true value of keeping drives alive and helping the team be in position to score. We can’t do now, what was a staple for 4 years.

This offense can’t do much of anything except score 7 every week.
7 damn points a game is pathetic, and it shows we didn’t did things right.

But think of all the money Ross is saving, this is great huh? Lol and SMH
We have more to give Tannehill and Parker , o boy!

  50. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Nice kick

  51. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    🤜🤛

  52. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Piggy,

You sound like you are ready for a new regime? How far do you want it burnt down? I’m waffling a bit on everyone but I feel Gase should be done here. It’s probably fair for a new coach to have a FO he believes in, no matter if it means a complete clean or a partial.

  53. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    They are feasting on McTyre

  54. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

McTyer should just handnout points before he game begins like he’s passing flyers for a new restaurant

  55. D's avatar D says:

That was a bad defensive call. Stunted Baker to the inside and Cohen bounced it right where he left

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Said the same thing as soon as it happened. Knew it was a TD.

Got to score here and stay in the game. Even a FG.

  56. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Halfway through the 3rd and the Bears have slammed 21 points in 8 minutes, That’s already close to unmanageable for our offense to produce. in a full 60.

  57. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

I give up. Now the defense is looking as bad as the offense.

  58. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Gore fighting make be a difference maker for us

  59. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Stupid penalty

  60. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Nice time for a penalty you dubshits!!!

How stupid is the fucking team

  62. Randy's avatar Randy says:

OL looking pretty good today. I wonder why…

  63. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Grant is as wide open

  64. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    That was shit

  65. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

🤜🤛. Really couda used a TD there .. now we need a 3 and out

  66. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

They’re scoring touchdowns we’re kicking FG’s but at least Oswieller is getting us down there so we can. A typical Tannehill game has almost no FG attempts.
One score game – need a stop.

  67. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Okay needed at least some points there. Time for a big defensive stop or play

  68. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Why do they even bother with kickoffs anymore?

  69. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think we can win this game

    But everyone needs to oink

  70. New Age's avatar New Age says:

My biggest problem is that we are paying as much as everyone else for a team full of average to below average. `We have 4 QBs but none are real keepers. Our WRs are Ok, our RBs are good, and our OL is average at best. Our defense has potential but outside of Jones, and usually Howard, I don’t see dominance. People that are above JAG level. This is a 150 million dollar squad and I just don’t see it.

  71. Part of what we are seeing is extremely poor diets for professional athletes. They need customized chefs making them healthy meals that will make them their best.
They brought in over processed carcinogenic garbage during that marathon opening game. This is a sign nutrition takes a back seat at other meals too.

You can’t expect race cars to win a race on cheap crap fuel, why expect it from world class athletes to run on garbage food?
Also The fluoride and lead in Miamis water has a lot to do with it as well.
You put in garbage, you get out garbage IMO

  72. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

    Horrible.

  73. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Man I feel like this game is in Chicago. I hear more cheers for them. Disappointing.

  74. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Defense has disappeared in second half. Where is the pass rush?

  75. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

    Needed that
    YES

  76. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Huge stop . Now fucking cash in

  77. Randy's avatar Randy says:

where the hell is The Waterboy with his quality H2O when you need him?

  78. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    There we go Son!!!! LOL

    Nice play

  80. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

These Dolphins make me so angry!!!

  81. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We are the best team In The nfl when it comes to setting up 3rd and long

  82. Diets aren’t important? Really? Lol. Ok if You THINK that.
But we have proof lead and flouride is damaging people’s mental health.
And we have proof the Dolphins are playing stupid.

Also carcinogens cause cancer, they aren’t performance fuel! If You Study up on top world class athletes, you may be surprised they don’t eat McDonald’s happy meals every night
Many of them have customized chefs

  83. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tannehill would have been sacked

  84. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    Nice wheels by Wilson. Booyeah

  85. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

He Bears looked like they gave up on that one

    They were just like

Oh fuck it – he’s fast

  86. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Niiiiiccccce play to Wilson.

Yeah!!!! Do you go for 2?

  89. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    Nice feet by stills.

  91. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

  92. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We may have momentum back now

  93. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    Yeah baby!!!! Nice job guys!!!

  94. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Fantastic!! I’ll admit it now. I’ve enjoyed watching Osweiler and today’s offense better than what I’ve seen otherwise. We are above 50% on third down conversion. That’s against very, very good defense. Osweiler the rest of the way baby no matter how this turns out. He’s a backup…but so was our starter.

  95. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

    New game now
    Go win it

  96. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Wow I see Randy is having fun. LOL

  97. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Heck of a play by Brock there.

  98. I Just picked a random athlete, that’s on top of their respective sport.

Serena Williams Diet Plan. Except during break periods, Serena follows a raw vegan diet specifically during tennis season. She eats plenty of nuts, beans, lentils, and sprouted quinoa. However, she occasionally indulges on some of her favorites including moon pies, grits, and fried chicken.

Lmao, she occasionally indulges in garbage , but when it’s tennis season, diet is important to her success

  99. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Let’s go Defense!!!
