2018 Season – Game 7 – Lions @ Dolphins – Fest Week!

This coming Sunday is not only another inter-conference matchup with the Dolphins facing another NFC North team in the Chicago Bears, it’s also the Fest game.  Dolphins fans coming from various parts of Florida, east coast, west coast, Canada, I mean this is epic.  I thought it was going to be ugly this past weekend, I will freely admit that, and that was before it was announced that Tannehill was out, and Brock Osweiler was in.  As it turned out, that may have been a good thing, because although I don’t believe that Osweiler is our answer at QB for this year and beyond, he undeniably brought a different mentality to the team, and the team responded.  How long this will last remains to be seen.  I strongly feel that Osweiler should Sunday against the Lions.  Over 400 yards passing, 31 points on the scoreboard, 3 TD passes (2 INT’s), and a big win when we really needed it.

It was a crazy game, and there was never a  scenario in my mind where we put up 31 points on the Bears, who sported a top 2 defense in every category.  They averaged 4.5 sacks per game through the first 5 games.  Much credit must be given to Adam Gase for figuring out a way to neutralize that, along with the O-line, and the QB Osweiler.  It’s also crazy that I feel our defense played pretty well, all the while allowing 28 points.  The turnover battle was even, we threw 2 INT’s and lost a fumble, we snared 1 INT and forced and recovered 2 fumbles.

Gore was tearing it up yesterday, he made his biggest impact so far this season with 15 carries for 101 yards for a heady 6.7 YPC.  Amendola settled into the “Landry” role, catching the short passes and trying to make the most of them.  Forget “Landry” though, it’s Albert Wilson who electrified this game.  He catches some of the same passes that “Landry” used to end with 8 or 9 yards and get brought down, but Wilson takes those for 50 + yards a pop.  Wilson and Amendola make “Landry” obsolete, so his name shall no longer be spoken here.

What a great pickup TE Nick O-leary has been.  Guy just comes in and plays football.  Need me to block, you got it!  Need me to catch it, you got it!  He’s pushing Gesicki down the chart, but this kid deserves it.  Kiko Alonso is playing great this year.  Doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have his weaknesses, but the things he can do he has been doing very well.  Kiko is probably going to top 130 tackles, he has 3 FF’s, 1 FR, and 2 INT’s.  Playmaker!  Reshad Jones seem to make a few big plays each game.   Even if he’s not actually getting the INT, he’s creating them.  Vincent Taylor hustling with a motor like a 440 six-pack!  That boy tracked down Trubisky and took him down!  Lots of things on defense that give you plenty of hope, and some that don’t.  McTyer was exposed yesterday.  It’s going to happen.  Let’s hope good ole Bobby McCain gets better quick.

Matt Patricia’s Lions are 2-3 in the NFC North, and this has not been a great season so far for QB Matt Stafford.  Usually, Stafford is one of the better QB’s statistically, but not this year.  The Lions have their own version of thunder and lightning, Kerryon Johnson is the lightning, LeGarrette Blount is the thunder. They basically have a 50/50 split in carries so far, Johnson averaging an impressive 5.7 YPC and Blount 2.5 YAACOD (2.5 yards and a cloud of dust).  The Lions have 3 WR’s that are dangerous, Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay and Golden Tate.  Jones is like what Parker should have been here, Golladay is closer to Stills, and Tate is like their Albert Wilson. Their former TE Eric Ebron is now killing it in Indy with Andrew Luck.

As I mentioned earlier, I’d prefer to see Brock Osweiler start.  Here’s why.  I say this with no disrespect to Ryan Tannehill, but I feel like we need to run our offense very carefully in order for him to succeed, and I didn’t see any of that with Osweiler.  Not that he was a gunslinger throwing footballs all over Hard Rock, but it just seemed more free, less tense, and much less careful.  It’s just what I saw.  Osweiler looked calm, and in control.  He wasn’t perfect, he won’t be, but there was a different element I haven’t seen with this offense, something intangible.  Tannehill is probably not going to be much better, so it should be easy to just say Ryan isn’t ready, so we’re going with Brock.  See what happens.  If Brock flops, it’s just as easy to say the following week that Ryan is ready.  If Brock plays well, no fan will mind if he remains the QB, we’ve seen what Ryan Tannehill can do, nothing wrong with going an alternative, especially if we’re winning.

I am really looking forward to seeing everyone this week, and I hope the game can match the fun we’re going to have all week.

Oh, BTW, we’re 4-2, tied for 1st place in the AFC East.  Who woulda thunk?

My concern/worry , after Cincy was that Tunsil was gonna be missing longer than he was and that the Oline was now done , and they would play rest of season like they did the 4th .. very happy with how they Showed Me against Mack and the Bears D .. fingers crossed for no more injuries to that unit , and that they continue to gel.. i dont care who is QB, just Win Baby !!

Tanny appears to have hit a wall, he’s one of the highest paid players and our starting QB., but doesn’t improve anymore.
A lot is expected for Tanny and his unbelievable hundred million dollar plus contract.
Maybe one day he will earn some of it. He’s looked good here or there, but for that kind of money he should be winning a lot more games and leading us to Super Bowls .
He didnt even play last year, and missed a lot of the year before either.
If he can’t stay on the field, and can’t lead this team, we need to find someone who can

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/ryan-tannehill-9818/

By the way Drew Brees (18th season) and Aaron Rodgers (14th season) have won one Super Bowl each and have never played in another.

“Maybe one day he will earn some of it. He’s looked good here or there, but for that kind of money he should be winning a lot more games and leading us to Super Bowls .”

David, your expectations are really high. As good as those two are and they are two of the best we’ve ever seen. One!

    • Tim Knight says:

Dan Marino, the best passer I’ve ever seen. 0-1 in Super Bowls. 17 year career. With the great Don Shula. Please explain what was missing?

      My explanation is balanced team.

  7. pheloniusphish says:

QB will work itself out. Neither will get any better than they are, but maybe one of them is good enough. Defense has been a pleasant surprise….

    • Mike E. says:

That’s more true for Tannehill than it is for Osweiler, only because he hasn’t played as much. There’s a slight chance Osweiler can be a better QB than he is right now, but how much better, I have no idea. I think Tannehill pretty much is what he is, which isn’t bad, just not elite. I would prefer we try for elite.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Def has been killing it , especially in red zone/goal line situations, still some brain farts/ misses, but those are gonna happen periodically

  8. Mike E. says:

We’re leaving pretty early tomorrow too, have to be at the airport at 6:30AM.

  9. son of a son of a shula says:

Twice, are you staying near us? When do you get in?

  10. son of a son of a shula says:

Safe travels to all of you getting in tomorrow. Have fun, I’ll see you early Friday afternoon.

  11. pheloniusphish says:

Mike E – I don’t disagree that Osweiler has the potential to improve.

  12. Tim Knight says:

Mike, you want an elite QB? No way!!! How dare you. LOL

Do you want one who never wins a Super Bowl by himself, or at least one over his long career, even though it wasn’t all about him? 😉

  13. Tim Knight says:

Phish, like Son has said he likes our defense and so do I because they are tough and fast. But by no means have they arrived as anything special yet. We still give up way too many big plays. We can stop them all day for the most part and still give up 21 like we weren’t even playing. Lots of work to be done but the youth and potential is there for the next few years to take it to another level. 🙂

  14. ElephantRider says:

    Osweiler is what he is.

    RT17 is what he is.

They will be drafting another QB or bringing another one in besides Falk.

Deal with it. Cheer on whoever is playing and enjoy the Ws.

    GO FINS

  17. naplesfan2010 says:

Wilson’s 75-yard touchdown against Chicago features 71 yards after the catch, the second-most yards after catch in the NFL this season, according to NextGen Stats. The best? Wilson’s 74-yard touchdown against Oakland, where Wilson got 78 yards after the catch.

With 101 rushing yards against Chicago, Frank Gore became the fifth player since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to have a 100-yard rushing game at 35 or older. He joined Emmitt Smith, Marcus Allen, John Riggins and MacArthur Lane.

They usually don’t go away in a day or two

So it looks like Oz may get the start again Sunday, you can almost count on whoever starts this weekend will also start the short week game as well

Not that I’m super excited by Oz but interested to see if the offense does continue to appear “smoother”
I was very pleased to see 3rd down converts, punts turned into field goals etc I realize everyone stepped up a bit but the system itself looked a bit more fluid than it has.

Sure not saying he’s the guy but this could be Brocktober, let’s win a couple

How cool is it we win over the Lions, pull out a rare one over Texas and we are 6-2

#1–Brian in NY; I’ll be bringing my 2 tix for you and your son to Dave & Buster’s.
#2–Miami’s “home field in the shade” had its origins at the historic Orange Bowl. Robbie copied that layout in the new stadium, which forces visitors to be in the sun THE ENTIRE GAME!! –We could see Da Bears wilt in second half and in the OT last Sunday. Radio commentators mentioned that “it was a significant advantage” as the game wore on! Whiny Bears’ players bitched about it, too! I feel so sorry for them and their dark jerseys, too.
#3–Dolfans SHOULD wear white tops to the game. They reflect some of the sun whereas dark jerseys ABSORB more of the heat & sun. Heavy duty sun tan oil is AN ABSOLUTE MUST for you pasty white northerners!!! And PIGGY—wear your hat, damn it!!! We’ve had record highs after record highs this summer. Sunday may be another one. Drink lots of water and Gatorade and you should be OK.

The answer at this time (for me) is still no

    one more thought!

I’m going to strip the STIGMA of drafting Alabama players off forever!

They come into the NFL prepared! Team guy’s! Hard Working!

So we all hate Saten! He doesn’t produce WHINERS!

  23. Randy says:

You don’t get around the top 10 in the draft often, hopefully. When you’re there, if you need a QB, you try to get one.

  24. wyoming85 says:

After the last 2 drafts, I would trust these guys to trade up if they find one worth it!

They seem to have there shit together?

  25. son of a son of a shula says:

Not now nor would I ever give up Minkah. I only wanted Baker and since he went first there was no chance. The year before I would have gone up and got DeShaun as he slid. Even though he’s going to suck next week.

    • D says:

There is something there with DeShaun, i just am not sure if he can hold up to the NFL punishment. He is one of those guys thats going to give everything he has on all plays, but those guys limp away fromt he game. You have to play smart at that position and given his size, he needs to be extra careful. I think there is something with Lamar Jackson too but he is in that same boat. The problem with both of them is they have to fundamentally change their game, and their character to have a long career in the NFL and thats unfortunate.

  26. D says:

Of those DT listed in the last page i remember Neal while he was at LSU, he’s pretty solid. Diuegot Joseph is a guy some here liked a lot he played at FIT, and was pretty decently touted.

  27. D says:

James is great against speed rushers, and not as good against power rushers. He has quick fett for lateral movement, but h has a hard time getting his anchor set when they are on him off the snap. I think thats why he seems inconsistent, because he is actually pretty consistently good against some and consistently bad against others. Overall though he is an above average OT, and his run blocking is pretty good consistently. I think James is a OT to try to turn into a career player here, with he and Tunsil we have a solid nucleus we just need to build that middle up and get some depth there and then we wont have to sweat injuries and such.

  28. D says:

Tim you are making M13’s point for him. You dont have to be Tanny’s defender man. People arent shitting on him, they dont share the opinion that he is good enough to be called out franchise QB, thats the jest of it. I have blindly supported him in the beginning, he let me down, i started being cautiously optimistic he would bounce back and improve given time, he let me down, he keeps making me want to believe in him and i try …only to be let down again and again. I just dont have the patience to keep holding onto hope of him miraculously materializing as a good QB. Dont you think he has had long enough to show up?

You can paint that as Tannyhater i guess, a term i have heard you used before, but the way you ferverishly defend him comes off as tanneholic for sure. I really dont make it my part to figure out what side of the fence a person’s argument is going to be on because of labels, but i do know that if someone throws down the Tanny gauntlet on this board, i can expect you to take the challenge almost every time. Im not sure whats the right way to call that, but if there are Tanny haters and you can put people like Randy or Son, or whomever in that bucket, then i think surely there are others on here that can be called Tanneholics because they areon the opposite end of the same spectrum.

  29. D says:

I feel like we need a new QB, i dont think we have a franchise on on the team, i do know that Brock played the best game at QB that we have had this year, so yeah it was 1 win vs 3 Tanny got us, but that was a tough opponent, the game just had a better feel to it, execution was better, Brock managed the pocket and pass rush pressure better, it was overall a much better game than any other this year. Now given the chance of “any given Sunday” i know not to think that we can expect that consistently out of him. He would be a starter on some team and not our backup if he could be, but after what i saw, Tanny needs to stand there and hold a clipboard until that other Brock shows up. Otherwise you arent trying to win, you are playing favorites. Tanny has not done anythign to deserve to be given that spot, he should have to earn it back.

    ———————————–
Dont know if thats true Randy, some teams are there very often lol. Ask the Browns.

  31. Randy says:

I don’t hate anybody…..been accused of it a lot….but that doesn’t describe how I feel about Tanny. I like the kid, as a professional and a person from all we’ve heard. That just has nothing to do with my evaluation of his play. I thought Incognito was a complete ass, but he was my favorite player for how he played.
    ****
QBs are always a point of contention on every team….unless you have a superstar. I don’t think we are any different. I wish Tanny would prove me wrong, but I just don’t see it. I just don’t think he’s a guy you win big games with.

    • D says:

Wasnt calling you one, was just saying people, Tim being one, has labeled you that before, used you and Son as two people i know for sure have been called out as Tannyhaters.

      • D says:

Hell i think i have walked a really middle groun line with Tanny for a long ass time, and even now feel im walking a middle ground line and im called one too.

    ——————————————————————–
When Baker Mayfield went 1st, my desire to trade up dropped off a bunch. I could have seen us trading up to 6th or 7th for Mayfield just because of how much Gase liked him, and also because he would fit our system like a glove. I liked Allen the best and i believe he has the most long term potential, i would have probably still been tempted to trade up for him at 6th or 7th but i would have weighed out what was still ont he board first. Given so much talent was still there i probably wouldnt have. After Allen was gone i wouldnt have traded. I liked the idea of Rosen and had he been there when we picked, i probably would have taken him, but i wouldnt have traded up for him.

    • D says:

Im with Son i really like the Minkah pick, so i wouldnt want to give it up now, but Baker Mayfield was a guy i thought could really help our team out, specifically because Gase felt so confident in him. I wanted us to have a guy that you could tell Gase really believed in, even if i felt like Allen was the type QB i wanted.

  33. D says:

Some of Sabans players come in as polished products, what i do know is that with his personal connection to Saban, Gase is going to know which are which, so if we draft an Alabama player, i feel good about that player turning out good for us.

  34. Jahndoh30 says:

I feel like a few people think I was trying to make a point with my post about Run/Pass ratios, but truthfully, I wasn’t. It was actually responding to another post on the subject.

There are some that think we run too much or pass too much and I was showing that we’re right in the middle of the pack. win/loss, winning/trailing…it’s all relative, and the fins given their record and the amount of time trailing/leading are kind of a good case study.

I feel like there’s a little stat hating in this group. It’s just data. Draw your own conclusions, but don’t diss data. It’s fact.

  35. Jahndoh30 says:

I’m coming around a little bit to Randy’s POV on Tannehill fwiw…

I’m probably more optimistic then he is, but at some point I might have to admit he’s average. I’ll be stubborn a couple more years though. 😛

  36. Jahndoh30 says:

D, you gotta realize though, it’s the fact that there are those that defend and those that criticize that makes the conversation flow. If everyone who loves Tannehill stayed quite while those who don’t spoke up it’d be a boring one sided conversation, same as if your “tanneholics” (kudos for creativitiy btw!) were the only one’s talking.

So let me ask you guiys something about parenting in 2018.

My kids school has finals tomorrow and there was a school shooting threatened last week that said it would happen tomorrow.

In their infinite wisdom the school ALSO has a disaster drill planned that day.

Is it just me or does the idea of putting every student together in one place on a day when a school shooting has been threatened seem a little stupid?

  43. wyoming85 says:

Jahn I guess it falls into witch philosophy you want to follow?
Do you let terrorism to change the way you live?
    or
Do you go forward and live your life and let the chips fall where they may?

I’ve told my son (who is 21 and not in HS, but is in college) that the best thing in the world he can do is put that DAMN phone down and pay attention to his surroundings!

    Will this help???????????

    • Jahndoh30 says:

I get that, and I’ve decided I’m not going to keep her home from school, but really? A safety drill? Doesn’t it seem reasonable to schedule that some other time? It’s not ONLY the threat, it’s the fact it’s in the middle of a final. Was a bad idea to begin with.

Thanks for the feedback Wyo. Appreciate different perspectives. My daughter is an only. I had to go with my instincts on this one and left the principal a reasonable message telling him I thought the drill was a bad idea.

      • D says:

Yeah the drill should have been canceled but it may be by regulation of the district that it has to happen and it may be that the have put it off until now it has to be done toady or they didnt meet their deadline. There is a lot of bureaucracy in the school system too.

      • Jahndoh30 says:

That’s possible D but unlikely. It will be the 3rd drill scheduled since school started. The last one was an “active shooter” drill.

        Good times.

      • Jahndoh30 says:

And bureaucracy…..you got that damn right! We have an interim principal because basically the last principal lost a popularity contest.

  44. D says:

I think the idea that there are schools as large as they are right now is part of the problem. With schools with thousands of students in the student body, you get less of a community experience and more of a prison like experience. The crowding of schools and the high student to teacher ratios are bad for education and bad for thing like stress that lead to shootings. As a byproduct of smaller schools and more communal involvement because these are smaller community based groupings, should be less risk of more shootings and less damage if there is one. Yes it will be more expensive to maintain 3-4 smaller schools vs one district school, but i think the educational experience and safety of our children would be a benefit worth that expenditure.

  45. stangerx says:

    • D says:

Ill have a shit fit if that happens. Thats something that i can see them fining the team over, or what not but it wasnt something that was done to cheat in any way. Previously, teams have lost picks, but it was for doing things that was violating personal contact rules, like talking to a FA before they were allowed to or discussion contract stuff before they were supposed to. This should rank up there with that.

Hehe..can’t take credit. I heard Alex Marvez say it on NFL radio yesterday. Figure it’s worth propagating though! Sorry I’ll miss the fest. Hope you guys have a fantastic time and get a great win!

  56. I just want to say one last time that this team has wasted over 6 years on a guy at quarterback who was never going to be the guy many were hoping he would be. Thank God it’s over.

    • D says:

Dont count your chickens…. When the offseason comes, and he isnt on the team then you can say its finally over.

I think that there is little to no way they dont invest in a QB in the draft at this point, but he’s 13mil cap savings, and 13mil dead money next year, and that makes it about a 50/50 on if he stays or goes. Im leaning towards gone at this point, but it probably highly depends on the person they bring in. I dont see many QB in this next draft that walk in as a day one starter, or at least i should say, none should be asked to be.

If Brock does win the starting job this year and carry it into next year, then its going to take finishing out this year strong to do that. That would make Tanny completely expendable as he would be the starter and the rookie would larn behind him. If he doesnt, then Tanny might be brought back next year to give the rookie time to learn which means we sit through another year of Tanny as the QB.

Right now i cant say whats going to happen with any confidence because there are a lot of steps from where we are now to that ending, i just hope that we might have gotten the spark we needed from Brock to get this offense going and i hope it continues as long as it can. Im not hung up on Tanny or Brock, im hung up on a good offensive showing from our team and i dont care who gives it to us.

  60. Rockphin says:

It sucks that y’all are going to come back down to earth in reality next week when Brock Osweiler plays like Brock fucking Osweiler And throws up three picks and one TD and we have to listen to the 4000 Lions fans chant us out of our own stadium

      Well that’s uplifting…

In otherwise intelligent people it is a moronic trait.

    ———————————————————-
Tanny had talent, he was someone that our OC at the time was very familiar with, we needed a QB, and there were a lot of other teams that had him on their bigboard as a first round QB. Thats undeniable. How it turned out is not how we wanted it to, not how the FO wanted it to, im sure, but also a lot better than it could have (see RG3).

I wanted the Tanny pick, he was my top choice for us, Cousins was my backup choice. I liked Cousins but despite things turning out different, i never thought for a minute that Tanny wouldn’t turn out and i never though Cousins or Wilson, or any of the other (other than Luck, who we had no shot at) were a better choice for us.

I was wrong, they were wrong, it happens. I just wanna see us do something about the situation and that starts with riding the hot hand at QB through the rest of this season (be that Tanny or Osweiler) and then do something about this shit when the FA and/or draft season begins.

    • pheloniusphish says:

I just get tired of people saying Wild ass shit just so they can say “I told you so” in the off chance it happens.

  63. pheloniusphish says:

I think we get the Denver Brock, not the Houston Brock. Not that he’s better than RT, although at this point he’s not worse. Just different strengths/weaknesses. Ride the hot hand, win some games. Make OD pay me $50.

  64. pheloniusphish says:

Rock – If we’re talking haters, we have to mention Son. He not only hates RT, he hates kittens, puppies, and apple pie.

The whole false narrative that the offense seemed to run smoother this past weekend is just that. False.

    Punt

First six positions of the Miami Dolphins
Yeah feels really smooth Fucking haters are going to make their own narrative anyway

    • pheloniusphish says:

I think I was the first to say it looked smoother. Smoother doesn’t necessarily mean more effective, although scoring first was a nice change. It was more that they seemed to get into and out of the plays faster and the plays were sequenced well

    • ElephantRider says:

I put 1 INT on Parker. He didn’t even look for ball…

The other INT was terrible and basically a pick 6.

      More to come……

      • Rockphin says:

He had an awesome completion for 25 yards however it was a terrible throw bounced off one player and Kenny stills bailed him out by grabbing it out of the air

  66. Rockphin says:

Thank God Albert Wilson went off in the fourth quarter and saved the game for us !

  67. ElephantRider says:

All this hate on RT17 will fade when Brock is Brock again.
Or maybe Brock does a 180 of his career and becomes good…..

Either way this team needs a QB of the future. That QB isnt on the roster. IMO

    • Rockphin says:

I don’t want that to happen I want Brock to be very successful. As long as he starting ! I am going to cheer for him because I hope for our team to do well !!

  68. Rockphin says:

The difference in this game was that the running game worked and allowed for the short passing game to also work Aust Wyler through three deep passes the whole game tonight were intercepted one down staff the wrong receiver into the arms of Kenny stills for a lucky reception the remainder of the game he threw 5 yards in the air and rest was YAC. The double standards on here are ridiculous Tannehill would’ve been destroyed by this crowd for that game

  71. stangerx says:

My opinion on Tanny remains unchanged, but not seeing Brock as a savior either. He threw 2 INTs and a huge chunk of his passing yards were Wilson runs. Nice to have 2 QB options though.

  72. ElephantRider says:

Derek Anderson is starting for Buffalo?? Wow. LOL

They should just cut Peterman now…..

  73. Rockphin says:

I have my fingers crossed that Brock Osweiler plays a good game this next week because we had one touchdown and two field goals through 3/4 of playing until Calvert went nuts and ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns in two receptions that traveled 4 yards in the air What the narrative is that he was great 👍

  74. Mike E. says:

Getting a little testy in here, or should say teste

  75. Mike E. says:

I don’t think anyone said Brock Osweiler was great. We did win, and he did look composed and in control of the offense, and for a guy coming in as a backup this week, that was good

    • Mike E. says:

No need to avoid this place, what’s the worst that can happen?

I think that is what Gase wants. Quick passes to quick guys
    Reply

I don’t necessarily think he only wants to do quick short passes. He has called plenty of deep passes over his tenure as OC / HC. I think he calls those type of plays to mask weaknesses on the Oline.

I busted MikeE’s chops during the draft about Giisicki hurting our offense, but it was only half jokes. He sucks as a blocker and hurts us when in Max protect and in the run game. Thus the guy off the street is playing ahead of him. Because he CAN block and it helped tremendously against the Bears D.

    • ElephantRider says:

O’Leary looking like a great pick up.

    • D says:

Its not masking a weakness, pass pro is going to fail, the best thing you can do as an offense is get the ball out quickly. It prevents the DBs from getting a good read on the play, same for LB’s and it helps negate a 20mil a year pass rusher. This is the modern NFL and Gase definitely likes it to get in play makers hands quickly so they can do what they do, he has said so many times.

  78. Mike E. says:

Rock – kinda funny that you will be in NJ while I’m in FLA

  79. bookman11 says:

One thing I do know, when many of us are in the stands at the game this weekend, we will all be cheering as one when the Dolphins score, and hopefully win, that is what is all about to me 😀

  80. I’m not saying we’re better off with Osweiler and there’s no possibility he shits the bed. I’m just saying Tannehill’s days in Miami are numbered; just like I did with Landry. And remember how that worked out

  81. Rockphin says:

Just to set the record straight for the blind. I am not a homer who loves Tannehill and thinks he can do no wrong. I am just a realist who sees Aaron Rogers get sacked 50 times in a season too, I see Brady melt down and play like shit. I understand what is happening on the field and don’t need an emotional target for my ire.

I also lover Frank Gore and am super glad we have him on our team. If you just went by my devils advocate aproach when I argue with Rob you would think I would root against him. NEVER I love Gore. I just appreciate and enjoy watching Drake too so when the argument brakes down to sillyness it might seem I don’t like him.

Bottom line is what I have said in the past. Tannehill is way better than given credit on here, but no he is not elite.

I’m going to start harping on Fitzpatrick. I think he is great, but I’m going to pick apart everything he does, I’m going to do it vociferously again and again and again and see who wants to read it.
    .

    • bookman11 says:

Rock, so you think Ryan Fitzpatrick is great but Tannehill is not?……oh wait…..😉

      • Rockphin says:

I will qualify. I think he is a great kid with a lot of potential (Fitz) I’m not sizing him for a gold jacket until he plays great for a while. But he is popular and a good target for my ire. So I will generate “hate” and blame him for everything I can on the defensive side. Just to make a point of how asinine it is with Tannehill

      • bookman11 says:

Rock, I get it, just yanking your chain, that is why I said Ryan, not Minkah….jbb

yeah, but it is only one of a handful of techniques. and it absolute IS used to mask weaknesses on the Oline in many cases. Perhaps not every case. As you said the sport evolves and goes through fads, but to negate that 20M rusher you have to sometimes sacrifice the deep pass. .

      • mf13ss says:

I don’t know how they know this while the local and national media don’t know this… AND their ‘report’ came out nearly 24 hours ago. Clearly, their report is bogus.

Tannehill is still game-to-game/week-to-week and more clearly…day-to-day after this weekend’s game. His season is not suddenly over (barring a major setback or Osweiler lighting the NFL on fire), so that’s a GOOD thing.
