2018 Season – Game 12 – Bills @ Dolphins

From memory, this is the spot where we’re usually facing playoff elimination.  Sometimes it’s the Bills, sometimes it’s the Ravens, but either way, we come out on the wrong side.  Adam Gase made sure that wasn’t an issue, so thank you Adam for leaving your balls in Davie, and thus sparing us all the usual heartbreak of a major clunker against the Bills.  Despite the records, the Bills are the team on the rise, while we slowly decay from mediocre to possibly sub-mediocre.

There has been much debate about Adam Gase, Ryan Tannehill, and the dynamic duo together as a pair, and while there are two sides to the debate, there’s not a soul on this blog that believes Ryan Tannehill is now, or can ever be on the same level as the best QB’s in the NFL, such as Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson, Phillip Rivers, or even newcomers to this group such as Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff.  He’s not even close to those guys.  As far as Adam Gase is concerned, his ledger is incomplete, but he’s nearing the point of no return.  I’ll explain.

So much was made about the wonderful job Gase did in Chicago with QB Jay Cutler, and I think I’ve found something about his style.  I don’t think Gase should be known as “The QB Whisperer”.  That’s way too sexy for what Adam Gase does to his QB’s.  I’d call him “The QB  Programmer”.  The program is “BE CAREFUL!”

In 2014 w/o “The QB Programmer”, Jay Cutler threw for 3812 yards, 28 TD’s and 18 INT’s, a QBR of 88.6.  Gase became the Bears OC in 2015, and “The QB Programmer” was born!  No more pesky Peyton Manning telling him to STFU and let me do what I do, now I’m in charge here!  Let’s look at this amazing successful transformation of QB Jay Cutler in 2015.  Cutler threw for 3659 yards, 21 TD’s and 11 INT’s, a QBR of 92.3.

Seems to me that Adam Gase puts completion percentage and less turnovers as the hallmark of his programming algorithm.  Never mind scoring TD’s, in fact, safety first Mr. Quarterback, if you need to throw past 10 yards, you better damn well have a good reason for doing so!  I mean look at the stats of Jay Cutler here in Miami last year, in what looked liked a hideous, grotesque year for him.  He completed 62% of his passes, threw for 2666 yards, 19 TD’s and 14 INT’s in 14 games.  It’s all pretty similar.  Thinking of how many times Cutler threw off his back foot or just chucked it to the turf to avoid a sack, 62% isn’t all that bad.

This past week in Indy was death knell for me for Gase.  He’s more interested in the appearance of the game, “Gee fellas, that was a close game against Andrew Luck on the road, we almost pulled it out”  What really happened was “Gee fellas, I’m sorry, we had a shot to upset Andrew Luck and the high flying Colts, but I went into a shell, my QB Programmer algorithm told me not to throw the ball past the sticks because, well, it’s dangerous you know, there are men on the other team just dying to take that ball away, and so you see, I took the safe route, and left it in the capable hands of our defense instead”.

Soooooooooo, we play the Bills in what has now become basically a meaningless game.  The Bills threw up 41 points against the Jets, we just threw up against the Jets, hanging on for dear life with a 13-6 victory in a very painful game to watch.  The Bills defeated a demoralized Jaguars team, but still, a formidable defense for sure, but a team with about as much teeth in their offense as ours. It’s a damn shame, SB7 wants to get together this weekend, but dammit, I don’t have it in me to travel to NYC to watch this team play, not anymore.  I’d sooner meet up and go to McSorley’s Old Ale House, and see if we can deplete them of all of their delicious dark ale, rather than languish at Slattery’s, “The House of Horrors” for Dolphins fans hoping for a crucial win to make the playoffs.

Tis a sad state friends, and I believe as long as Adam Gase is here (The QB Programmer), and good ole #17, Ryan Tannehill is here, there will be more of the same.  Hell, if I was Ryan Tannehill, I’d welcome the opportunity to compete for a starting job elsewhere, maybe he can have that Rich Gannon type of resurrection.

Anyway, wish I had more positive things to say, but alas, this past week and and frustrating loss has once again left me angry and unsatisfied with the Miami Dolphins.  By the way, I shit you not, I was watching SNY this morning, looking for some positive sports news about the New York Mets, and on the scroll line, I saw the Mets hired Adam Guttridge as Assistant GM for analytics, I saw the Adam G, and I was like “WTF is that, Mets hired Adam Gase!!!!!!!??????”  It got me ultra-pissed for just a millisecond, but that’s how i feel about Adam Gase right now.  I want him nowhere NEAR our rookie QB that we draft next season.  NOWHERE!!!!!

For those of you who still enjoy the games, I salute you!  Bookman, I love ya man, I wish I could share what you feel, so please continue to bring it here so at least I could share a little of it still.  Even if I get a sliver of it, it will be better than not having any of it.  I admit, sports has made me bitter.  Losing, disappointing seasons are the norm across the board for me now, Dolphins, Mets and Knicks.  The hits keep coming, and I’m feeling like Glass Joe, ready to hit the canvas.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Tim – How good are the Seahawks right now? I think they’re pretty bad, but Wilson keeps them competitive. He’s having a great season with no one at WR, RB at TE

So does TMZ get in trouble for leaking the video? And why did the NFL wait to act until the video got leaked? And why did the NFL wait until 8:20 PM EST to make a ruling, when the video has been out all day today?

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And if no charges were filed by law enforcement, what gives the NFL the right to suspend said suspect now, as opposed to February when said incident occurred, if they are truly taking domestic violence seriously?

The NFL is skating on very thin ice, here.

        I applaud this move!

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I posted the video earlier. I knew it would be bad. This shit has to stop and I don’t care what your status is in life. I applaud it too because it sends a message to every player in sports, this can’t be tolerated or swept under the rug. Walk away and stop being stupid. He had multiple chances to walk away and didn’t.

  6. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Again, I ask: does TMZ get into trouble for leaking the video that the hotel — or more importantly — law enforcement itself would not provide? And why would law enforcement NOT provide the video, which clearly they’ve had in their possession?

  7. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I just saw this, and though completely removed from the Kareem Hunt matter, I feel it applies…

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yes it does as do many other countries. I worked on a campaign about this a few years ago and it sickened me. The sickest thing about it are the consumers or there would be no market for it.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I wanted to highlight the part of “Hotels are the 1st line of defense”. So being that the hotel where the Kareem Hunt incident occurred refused to provide video, we’ve had a woman-beater running loose in the NFL.

Perhaps hotels should be more forthcoming regarding said incidents. I know there’s red-tape galore, privacy issues, lawyers, etc… but something should have been done about Hunt far earlier, being there was video to back up the claims.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I don’t believe in privacy issues when it comes to crime.

Yup, I know ya posted it earlier, and I saw it a few hours before anything was posted about it here. I was kind of surprised at the crickets when I posted that Hunt was officially suspended by the NFL @ 8:20 PM.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Nobody else seems to be here but you and I right now. LOL

I’ll be off for a bit soon too.

Me too in a little bit. I’m feeling a bit under the weather… like I’m warding off a cold. Got it a bit in my head and chest. SUCKS!

  9. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Tim,

Allow me to ask you a question. If there is ONE (significant) position you feel we need to upgrade upon, what would it be for you? Never mind who the player is right now on our team, never mind the ’19 Draft class and names there… what position would you absolutely look to upgrade? This is not a baited question, whatsoever.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I do think we need to add QB talent to the current mix. Serious talent, not a PS QB. A guy with starter upside.

On defense a DT who makes his presence known every week.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I hear ya, man. I’d add a DE to the early want list as well.

And with ANY kind of luck, we’ll get Sitton and Kilgore back at 100% next year. The RT position will be intriguing: do we re-sign Ja’Wuan or draft a new RT to a rook contract?

Lots of things we’re going to have to look at.

I’m audi, bud. Have a good night! 🙂

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

      QB

  10. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I know James can be good, but he also has sub par games and major durability issues. He misses a lot of games. I would go in another direction at RT.

We need a season of Sitton and Gilgore. I can live with Davis at RG but we need a more reliable RT cheaper and another quality guard added to the mix. Tunsil has stud potential.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Brendel might be our best backup C/G. He’s undersized but always plays well or serviceable when called on and sticks around regardless of the situation. He’s a younger and cheaper interior OL at 26/27 that will likely replace Larsen 31/32 in 2019 – he’s always banged up.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Larsen has a 400+K cap hit next year and a $2.2+ salary. He’s gone!

Brendel is a RFA though at 630K.

  11. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    LT Tunsil
    LG Sitton
    C Kilgore
    RG Davis
    RT?
    C/G Brendel
    OT Sterup/?
    G Asiata/?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I like Ja’Wuan James personally, he’s a good dude. I don’t like his price tag for his overall play and durability. Sometimes these dark horse candidates on the OL payoff if you stick with them. But add to it.

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

What’s with Asiata? Why cant that dude see playing time?
I thought he was really good in the run game and how bad can his pass pro be? Cant be worse than Larsen…can he?

  12. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
James is one of those guys we talk about when they are drafted that need to keep improving and getting better thru their first 3-4 years, so we will eventually have a solid roster. James can be really good and is sometimes. He is too inconsistent. He’s like Phillips. He will get paid by somebody. He can play both tackle positions and has all the tools to be really good. Are we the team who wants to pay him, is the question. I would but I wouldn’t grossly overpay him.

  13. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

How long until the Redskins sign Hunt?

  14. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

It’s amazing how Parker is always hurt, some people just physically can not hold up to the rigors of the NFL.

it looks like Amendola is out as well, that leaves us with Stills..Caroo. Ford and Brice

  15. Dloxahatchee's avatar dcoralsprings says:

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well

What strange season huh ? So many guy’s hurt but still managing to stay in the mix somehow
There has been some ugly football for sure but some bright spots too

Love this Miinkah pick, X is also doing very well, this D has the potential to be special

  16. Dloxahatchee's avatar dcoralsprings says:

As far as Ja’Waun goes, think we’re going to have to pay him, servacable enough tackle
Can’t keep letting first round guys walk; seriously believe that’s a big part of our troubles
“Bigger fish to fry” than needing to replace yet another first round o-line guy

  17. Dloxahatchee's avatar dcoralsprings says:

Need to put a little bit of nasty on the D line, also need to start looking at DE, I really love Wake, player and the person but it’s time to start grooming

  18. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I’ve been steadfast about Tannehills current status with Miami however…….

I keep reading how Tannenbaum is watching these QBs with great interest, first he was at a WV game scouting Grier next he’s at a Duck game scouting Hebert, and they say that’s his target..

I can’t see how that’s possible, Hebert will probably go to the first QB hungry team, maybe the Giants. it would take a wealth of draft picks to move to the #1 spot and i’m sure Oakland would be open to that conversation, I certainly hope they don’t do that, it would almost be another Mark Sanchez move by T Baum but even worse as far as losing picks go.

Herbert completed 221-of-371 (59.6 percent) not too accurate.

  19. Dloxahatchee's avatar dcoralsprings says:

    Then there is Thill, complicated
Not a hater, can’t really defend him either
He’s not bad in the big picture of things but he’s just not great
    Just a guy
That said I’d be very reluctant to just walk away, be careful of what you ask for type thing
    Beck
    White
    Lucas
It’s a really long list, really long
But I feel we need to upgrade the position
Not saying it’s all on him but he is a part of the problem

Can’t struggle to put 10 – 14 points on the board and expect to get anywhere, his fault or not it’s time to move on

    • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

Not to mention that when he does pull the right strings and has a receiver over the top or wide open somewhere his QB either doesn’t see him or throws a piece of shit pass.

  20. Dloxahatchee's avatar dcoralsprings says:

Gase is a different case for me, not real sure what we have with him yet,
Have not been a big fan of this offense but not convinced this is the offense he’s offering
By that I mean due to injuries, young player development, needed upgrades etc
I question how much his hands are tied ?

The fact that we got hit so hard by the injury bug, all teams do throughout the year but damn man

He still has managed to win a few, came close in a few, thinking we may be better off to see what he can do with a complete team effort
But hey I’ve been wrong before lol

  25. Herbert is extremely accurate. His numbers mean NOTHING.

  26. I’d sign Hunt. If a white supremacist is standing outside my hotel room for 30 minutes calling me a ni**er I’d go out there and kick the shit out of her too.

  27. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Decisive action by the Chiefs. “We asked you about it, you lied about it to us……you are gone.” And it is frick’n Kareem Hunt on a team with legit thoughts of making the Bowl. That’s drawing a moral line in the sand that every player for them will know they can’t cross.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE PIGSTER & OCALA HOWIE!! Hope the Fins give you a birthday present tomorrow. I’ll soon be leaving Tampa Bay and heading south to Pompano Beach in preparation for the Bills-Fins game tomorrow. Will take my brother-in-law Jim to the game. Mrs. OD’s bad back put her on the DL for the rest of this season.
    —————————–
Going to Buffalo games always brings back pleasant memories. Like OJ Simpson losing EVERY GAME his Bills played against Miami!! –Like the Dolphins going 20-0 against the Bills in the decade of the ’70’s. –Like a certain Dolphins’ fan bringing a model of the Super Bowl VIII trophy to show to a Bills’ fan at a game in the Orange Bowl in 1974! I said then and I say NOW, “This is the closest Buffalo will ever get to a Super Bowl Trophy!!!!!!”
    —————————-
YES, the city of failed sports franchises has NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL; HAS NEVER WON AN NBA TITLE (the old Buffalo Braves NBA team); HAS NEVER WON A STANLEY CUP and has NEVER WON a college football national championship nor a major college sports title (such as March Madness or the College World Series)!! All they do IS LOSE!!
    —————————
In honor of that losing tradition, I was going to make a large poster and take it to the game tomorrow.
    ON THE TOP of the front of the poster I’d have;
BUFFALO FANS’ VACATION (then below I’d have–
    #1-Lose to the Lightning Thurs.
    #2-Lose to the Panthers Fri.
    #3-Lose to the Dolphins Sun.
    #4-Go home to Blizzard Mon.
But the sign was so big I could not bring it to the game!!
    ————————-
SO I guess I’ll just have to giggle about it on my drive back home after the Dolphins beat the Bills tomorrow. I’ll take a MIAMI victory 23-20, in overtime, of course. As the French say, “The more things change, the more they stay the same!!”

  29. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Kareem Hunt had two years left on his rookie contract. He’s on the books for 2019 and 2020 at least than a mil per year. Even if they think he will get suspended out of this season, have to believe some team puts in a waiver wire bid for him…..probably more than one. Betting the farthest he gets is the Jets.

  30. Sorry, but the person who allegedly was punched in the face didn’t press charges and when you read the account of what happened at the hotel I wouldn’t have a problem if we claimed him.

  31. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Kicking myself for being a fantasy dope. Saw news of the Hunt vid on this board right after it came out. Should have added Spencer Ware to both my teams right then. Release only learned about this morn….. but by then he’d been scooped up. Good job ER!

Least you ain’t playing Hunt in the Toba league this week….. cause I had him. So feel your pain. Least even if the guy with a bye who picked up Ware in my other league lost Hunt as well. But would have been a huge win if I’d picked him up instead.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The kicker for me is, the guy who picked up Ware in my league is in last place with no chance to make the playoffs.

  39. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The whole thing is hypocritical. The video comes out, and for PR reasons, the Chiefs are basically forced to cut him, which basically allows some other NFL team to swoop in and take their prize. That’s complete garbage if you ask me. If we lived in a normal society, the Chiefs could discipline Hunt as they see fit, along with whatever punishment the NFL doled out, but this PC world we’re in that can’t happen, which frankly IMO, is a sham(e)

I’m getting ready to watch the Herd take on Virginia Tech, a game that was added on when both teams had an early season game cancelled due to a hurricane. VT needs a win to get bowl eligible. The Herd is already at 8-3. I see the ESPN College Gameday crew has split on the pick for the game. If VT loses, it will be their first year being out of a bowl in 25 years, which is why they wanted to add this game. I have to think they’d rather have found a different opponent. This isn’t an automatic win for them.

If you own an NFL team nothing is more important that your brand, you cant be reputable when you have a woman beater on your team. maybe some teams (redskins) don’t value their brand as much. but i’d bet Ross would never allow that guy on our team, (see ritchie incognito)
Lamar Hunt was one of the people who started the AFL, and you can bet the Hunt family holds their brand an the NFL shield higher than any one player no matter how good he is.

this guy should be facing assault charges and i’m sure there will be a civil suit down the road, in fact i bet piggy and ken have already contacted that woman.

it takes a real dirtbag to kick anyone like that when they are down especially a woman.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Dcoral, the main issue with James is he has durability issues and misses a lot of games. Yes he can play very well at times and he looks the part, but he also struggles at times as well. He’s not going to be cheap so the team has to add all that up to determine if he’s worth trying to keep or go in another direction. I wouldn’t be annoyed as a fan if we retained him but I wouldn’t be surprised or pissed off if we went in another direction either.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

It didn’t help anything especially since it proved he lied to the Chiefs so yes in a way the video does get him that and the fact that he lied about the severity of the incident.

    Mike E,

I hear you… perhaps more than you’ll ever know, regarding the Kareem Hunt matter. This isn’t “cryptic”, because I’m for due process, innocence until proven guilty, and I’ve not trusted the media for many moons.

I’m not walking back my stance that Kareem should have been disciplined/suspended/released, but he’d better have his day in court. And IMO, the NFL saw the video and did NOTHING since February until TMZ put it on blast yesterday.

Once again, Roger Goodell didn’t want another black eye to his league regarding DV, despite the allegations back in February and the so-called “ongoing investigation”: he tried to bury this. Somebody had this surveillance video put under lock and key for a reason.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

From what I read, “sources say, the NFL couldn’t get the alleged victims to talk to them and couldn’t get the video from the hotel or from the Cleveland Police Department.”

I suppose what I’m saying here, is that I do NOT believe it.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Oh okay. If they did see the video and stayed mum about it that’s a mistake. Because if it comes out later and it’s known they did see it, it’s even worse for the league.

That said, if they were not given access to it by the hotel and police, they should have had access to it because the NFL is such a public sport. It’s not like other businesses where it’s not public and can be dealt with internally.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

M13 — they put out a public statement saying they asked both the police and the hotel for the vid and were told no. How could them not making those requests not come out? I honestly thought the video would be far worse. If nothing else, the Chiefs have shown these young men that they may be held to higher standards and that the incredible benefits that come with the NFL also have some higher responsibilities. A smarter person would have walked away or sent a calmer person out to discuss their problems. Young people aren’t very smart though.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

A big part of it is Hunt lied to the Chiefs when they asked him about it. Then they saw the video and it confirmed that he lied. They are setting a standard for their team and I commend them for that.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Why should whether it is you, me or Kareem Hunt change what is right as far as giving vid of what we do in a hotel to the public? And yeah there is a difference — it is TMZ paying off either someone in the police department or the hotel to get vid that otherwise would not have been released.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No not give it to the public but the league so they know what one of their players did and then act accordingly. It’s a lot worse when a guy is still playing and then it comes out to the public and they feel the league swept it under the rug. Not a good look.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

But the league is just a company, even if a big one, and Hunt was on vacation. I sure wouldn’t want the place I worked for to be able to get vid of what I did in my hotel in say Key West or Vegas. But maybe that just me with too much to hide after good times on vacay. 🙂

  57. I agree with New Age. I thought the video would be far worse. People say he could have called security but the people in the hall didn’t back off. Based on the story from friends that were there I think the whole thing is ridiculous

      • Jesus Tim. Did you see the video? They kept going back too. And the”kick” wasn’t much of a kick

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yes I did. Hunt should have just kept moving the first time and get the hell out of there. What… the women were going to overcome an NFL player that has superior strength? There were no weapons involved.

    ___________________________________________

i Totally disagree Mike, leaving it in the discretion of teams could be a disaster for the league, it hurts a team to lose a valuable player like that so if you left it up to the team they may overlook it when weighing the fact that they wont be as good without that player, then you have a league full of pussy woman beaters and thugs, it would definitely hurt the NFL.

M13, what do you mean by “Welcome to the red-tape zone… where BIG corporations always control biz.”?

The reason I ask is because I know where you stand politically and this is why some people believe in socialism. To not allow free market businesses to control the means and ethics of business through greed, but to have it regulated and controlled by the people as a whole via the government, with equal representation.

At the end of the day both ideologies are humans deciding what is best for society “the people” as a whole, or for “specific” humans/people. Corporations and government are not entities in and of themselves. They are both made up of multiple humans/people deciding whether to be ethical or unethical.

Not trying to call you out or anything, just wondering what you think. I often think about this and say to myself, are we just using semantics to describe how our American society is or should be? Doesn’t it come down to one power over another? Laissez-faire vs. equal representation. Or maybe that is what the debate in this country during election time is always about. Maybe that is the balance we need to sustain The USA. Neither ideology should have full power.

Yeah it would and it did. Stills can say whatever he wants. Playmakers make plays. Wilson and Grant were then went down for the season. Stills was making some plays early on and then got banged up and disappeared. I’m sure the OL has something to do with it because they can’t block the deep drops, but Wilson and Grant were making it happen on short and medium range stuff with both Tannehill and Osweiler. So is Drake. Sorry Stills, where are you?

Message to all people and public figures, walk away when you can unless it’s “really” self-defense.

I hate that this happened on so many levels. I’m also tired of hearing millennial 22-23 year olds don’t know any better. That’s BS! Not fair to the many who do. Violence is the worst reaction.
Sorry we had that scrum and you can’t see out of one eye anymore, or your broken ankle never heeled, or that I went to your funeral.

Maybe we as a society can make violence a super taboo in every instance other than self defense? Don’t cause it, no self-defense.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

My post was that M13 was saying yesterday that he didn’t believe that the NFL didn’t see the video. This story shows not much intel for them to do much.

Maybe they went by the discussions the Chiefs had with Hunt and that witnesses they talked to said Hunt wasn’t involved. Also that the alleged victims at the time weren’t available. I’m sure they get stories like this about players all the time and many of them there just isn’t much to it. They got blind-sided by this one as did the Chiefs.

That’s why I said yesterday I believe if the hotel and police had the video they should have shared it with the NFL. It tells the story without hearsay.

  85. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s a league where talent rules. There should be a more fair system in place for situations like this. The team that has the contract with the player is forced to save face by cutting him, and then another team gets the opportunity to swoop in take the prize, and then sometimes make a feel good story out of it, how they made a reclamation project out of that player. KC basically had no choice to do what they did, and when a different team picks Hunt up, no one will blink, because that’s what happens. If somehow Reuben Foster becomes a great LB for the Redskins, will anyone care how they got him? Of course not

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think the player should be suspended by the league, say 6 games or more, and then the team that has that player should have the first option as to whether they want to keep him or not, rather than be forced to cut that player so the optics look good.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The problem is the team that then picks that player up says to everyone we don’t care what he did. I think he should be suspended for at least a year by the league. Most people believe in second chances but that sort of behavior should not be treated with a slap on the wrist. Set the precedent that this sort of behavior is not tolerated. Do something like that again and you’re done.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

You hit the nail on the head. The team that picks up the player says we don’t care, and that’s a fact, because talent rules. That’s why they should take it out of the hands of the team that has the player under contract, and they have a chance to get that player straight, rather that the team that picks him up from waivers after the team is forced to take a black eye and cut that player

  86. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

New Age, the reason I mention Fromm is I liked what his coaches are saying about him. They said he is very smart and very good at reading defenses. When they call a pass play he is very quick to read the defense. They said he has a knack for quickly processing his options pre-snap and instead of changing a play he will go to his 2nd or 3rd option first since he predetermines who would be the open target. He did very well last night against Alabama. Unfortunately, when Alabama’s QB went down, I think the Georgia D relaxed a bit and Hurts caught them off guard.

Tim, my point of points regarding the Kareem Hunt ordeal is that the NFL claims to be very serious about DV allegations. I think that we what we know right now (there may be more coming), they didn’t take it very seriously at all. Last thing they’d want to do is damage their brand further by bringing attention to yet another DV matter.

Being no charges were filed in the case, the NFL likely figured that it had no legs… so just let it go. And let it go they did… until TMZ released the video on Friday and they suspended him (commish’s exempt list). I’ve been sayin’ that this thing reeks. Why? If Hunt warranted a suspension, it should have been done a long time ago… not out of a knee-jerk reaction to a video… where no charges were even filed. See what I mean?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s why I believe the video should have been shared with the NFL a long time ago. They got blind-sided as did the Chiefs. The witnesses lied and so did Hunt. But being that the NFL isn’t a court of law the only thing they could do now is suspend the player and the Chiefs cut the player which is what happened. Now let’s see how long the NFL’s suspension is for Hunt. That will show how serious they really are about this sort of thing.
