Happy New Year 2019 with colorful fireworks

Well, 2018 wasn’t a great season for the Miami Dolphins. I believe to most of us, a change was more than welcome, and the Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross did not disappoint. Apparently, he’s as displeased with the teams performance as we are, and change was a necessity. The Adam Gase era is now over, lasting only 3 seasons in Miami. The offensive minded coach was expected to bring the Dolphins to new heights, but instead it was new lows. The Dolphins offense finished the season ranked #31 of 32 teams in total yards per game at just under 299 yards per game. #26 in scoring at 19.9 PPG. At 7-9, the Dolphins ended up with a -114 point differential. It’s kind of amazing that we were 7-9 considering how awful and inept we were on both sides of the ball.

The good news – Not only is Adam Gase removed as HC, Dowell Loggains is gone as OC, and Matt Burke also gone as DC.

More good news – Mike Tannenbaum is demoted from VP of Football Operations, and GM Chris Grier now absorbs that title.

GM Chris Grier has already begun the search for a new Head Coach. Rumors are flying around, and it’s difficult to really believe a lot of what is said, so take caution in what you start to fall for. Is John Harbaugh really going to leave the Baltimore Ravens? Is Jim Harbaugh going to leave the college ranks and leave Michigan to break his back again working 20 hour days during the NFL season? Is foot-loving Rex Ryan going to land feet first in Miami? We don’t really know, but it sure is fun to speculate.

The thing that makes me most happy about this transition is Chris Grier is speaking music to my ears. He says he wants to build a team, not try for the quick fix. (Check!)

Grier says we will not be big spenders in Free Agency, especially on veteran players, it would only be on young players, and no overspending. (Check!)

Really, that’s all I can ask for. A plan that can bring the Miami Dolphins to a point where winning is sustainable and consistent. Of course, it’s just a plan, and as we know the plan still has to be executed, and executed well. Regardless, I’m happy, very happy with the entire philosophy. It’s precisely where I think this team should be heading.

As of the moment, we do know the Miami Dolphins have asked the Bears permission to interview their DC Vic Fangio. Fangio is a long time NFL defensive coach, since 1995, first with the Carolina Panthers, the Indianapolis Colts, The Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and then of course the Chicago Bears. The Bears lead the NFL allowing only 17.7 PPG, astounding in this new era of high scoring affairs. Personnel always has something to do with it, and the Bears trading for Khalil Mack had a huge impact on the defense.

Other names that will be bandied about are Mike McCarthy, Bruce Arians, Urban Meyer, Eric Bieniemy, Mike Munchak, Rex Ryan and more . . .

When Chris Grier makes his decision, I hope that the Head Coach chosen share many of the same philosophies and visions for the team, and then are able to fill out their staff with qualified coordinators. I truly hope that ST’s coordinator Darren Rizzi is still part of our team. Special teams has been an excellent unit here, and that’s all due to Rizzi, so I hope he’s being considered.

Here’s to hoping that we finally got this right, and Dolphins fans everywhere can enjoy competitive football for many years to come. As I’ve said in other articles, taking a step or two backwards is a necessary part of rebuilding, and I’m willing to take those lumps. A 3-13 or 4-12 season will bring better things for 2020, when some serious QB talent is expected to be available. That doesn’t mean I think we shouldn’t take one this season, I definitely hope we do. Doesn’t have to be early, but we need competition at the QB position, so somewhere in this draft I hope we find it.

Happy New Year!

I really don’t care about past failures, the future is more of a concern, there are no guarantees when you select an early rnd player, some are not that good. but with only one 1st rnd pick you only have one shot, if you keep trading back you get multiple shots.

the key here is a number 1 draft pick in 2019 is a lot more valuable than that same pick in 2020, so teams that want to trade up have to give you more for your 2019 pick. you use that to your advantage,

say we go from #13 to #28, we get that teams 1st and 3rd next year

you trade back and over time you gain equity in reality you’re trading a pick that has less value for two picks of more value at a cost of time which this team seems to have, not to mention you still have a #28 pick!
    you are gaining equity.

    • even tho u dont care of past failures, its heavy on Ross mind, and many others do care.
if u ignore mistakes, and why they were made, they will be repeated.

there are lessons from the past if learned, will help us in the future.

repeating mistakes over and over, but expecting different results is the definition of insanity

Quality can be achieved by both trading up or down. Just better have a very good GM who doesn’t crap the bed like Jeff Ireland had for us.
    ______________________________________
Quality is more likely achieved when you have more than one shot at it.

the draft is a crap shoot

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

What I’ve come to learn is that 50% of what makes a college player a stud in the NFL is his mental makeup: work ethic, intelligence, drive/passion/heart.

That stated, I DO agree with ya that the Draft can certainly be a crap shoot. That’s why the interview process (which we’re not privy to) is so important.

We’ve seen college studs flame out early in their NFL careers, and we’ve seen UDFAs flourish in their NFL careers.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Once I realized what Case Keenum’s mental makeup was all about (and it’s rare to find this kind of stuff), I KNEW he was going to be decent NFL QB.

  3. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

It’s just a draft equity philosophy to build a team with # 1..#2… and #3 draft picks, instead of 5s…6s…7s…and Fas

    • its a solid predraft plan, like the year we had 5 picks out of the top 82! that was phenomenal. the awesome positioning should have helped a competent GM load the cabinets with top talent.
but ireland wasted the best positioning of a draft Miami ever had, 5 in the top m 82!

he was the biggest failure ever in Miami imo and was fired shortly afterwards

  4. Kentuckys Benny SNell, having a great day, hes our RB

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Get our O-Line fixed, and I’ll take an UDFA RB out of West Bumblefunk and turn him into a perennial 1,000 yard rusher.

    • Benny Snell is perfect for Miami, and our stable is a 36 year old rb coming off a season ending injury, Drake and Ballage.
Drake and Ballage can be key pieces of our rebuild, but we need 3 and Gore is not part of the future, I love Gore, but cant ignore his age and pretend he is gonna last another 10 years or so

  5. New Age's avatar New Age says:

The draft is a crapshoot for everyone. There’s not a person who’s ran a draft that didn’t make mistakes every year.

  6. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    David,
we will draft players whomever is calling the shots, and the guy who’s calling the shots may miss, but if he has more chances he may hit a few too.

if we are at this years draft and we pick a player at 13, and they came out and said miami can pick again at 20 would you want to do that? or would you pass due to the player you pick may be a bust? LOL hell know you would want that pick!

well by trading back that could be a reality in one short year,

and you keep doing this when you can year after year

    • i am not saying Your strategy is wrong, i said its a good predraft strategy. all i am saying is all the picks in the world wont help if the GM is clueless.
how in the hell does a GM fuck up the top 5 picks out of 82? by trading up for Jordan, and other similar moves. the Dolphins got zero quality starters out of those 5 picks.
we have to have wiser management.

i cant help but think we should have at least 3 quality starters out of that bunch, maybe more if the GM is competent.
ireland couldnt tie his shoes and breathe at the same time, lol he was gone after this debacle

Glad your business dream is thriving, and the family is growing nicely, that’s all we can ask for.

As for the Dolphins, I know I’ve said this before, but I feel we’re on the right path. Let’s hope they can stay on it.

    Cheers!

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Yeah but the playoffs are awesome

They need to expand to 8 teams
And schedule the first round on 12/31 and 1/1

      Then you’ll love it

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Maybe work in 12/24 and 12/25 for games too

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I know it is a more fair system but I cannot help but feel it was more fun years ago when there were more games on and it felt like there was more on the line in each game may well impact what happens in another game or the final standings. The games today don’t mean anything in regards to the national championship

  15. when ireland was fired for wasting quality picks, i was thinking we need a serious upgrade at GM, who will it be?

the first thing that came to mind was one of those red cats waving its paw you typically see in a chinese restaurant, lmao

at least the cat wont screw up 5 picks out of the top 82!

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

what did you think of Dennis Hicky’s drafts?

      • much better, but far from good enough, he never had a chance at the top 5 of 82 thou, im sure he would have gotten us a starter or two, and avoided Jordan. Jordan was one of Miamis worst picks of all time, and even worse we traded up for him
Hickey wouldnt have done that imo, but he isnt the cats mouse either

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Yeah i think he sucked also…wasting a 2nd rnder on Landry was brutal!

      • it was a brilliant pick to get Landry in the second, but by sheer stupidty 4 years later, he plays for the browns now

remember Parker was picked in the first round , bigger, faster, taller,

but another first round bust that never did 20 percent of what Landry did for Miami

      • id love to see Landry and Parker in a fight, lol the little guy would whip his ass thouroughly, Parkers a wussy

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

but you just told me you hickey was “far from good enough” that he isn’t the cats mouse? and just 5 mins you say he was brilliant? WTF.

Landry is an over paid very slow slot rec, the reason he plays the slot is that he can’t gain separation from a legit NFL CB, jhe’s worthless as a WR

  16. im trying to like the new playoff system, but yes, it does seem to take away something from the aura and history of typical bowl games

  17. Rob,
1 question. How do you get the #13 and the #20 picks? Who’s giving you #20 and what r u giving up for it?

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Don’t stop him he is on a roll

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

just a theory in the 2020 draft, you trade back in 2019 and gain a 1st rounder in 2020

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

so if we traded back last year we would have the #13 and 20 this year theoretically.

Draft equity, trade back and gain draft equity.

it’s just like real estate, you buy a home and in 10 years you have gained equity. the home is worth more and you paid your debt down.

the draft only takes a year to gain that equity, trade away your early pick for an early pick next year. say trade from 13 to 28, not only would you have #28 this year you would have two #1s next year

your 2019 pick is worth more now than that 2020 pick so over time you gain equity.

being that this team has no reason to think they will contend anytime soon all they have is time.

        just a long term philosophy

  18. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I was looking back at our last few drafts
And now is the time (3 years) when you can reevaluate a draft
Our 2016 draft was very good
Tunsil, Howard and Drake were our first 3 picks
We also picked up Jakeem Grant in the 5th
    The worst pick was carroo

The 2017 draft was not so good
But if Tankesrly comes back strong next year maybe
Before his injury his year he was inexplicably pushed down the depth chart in favor of Bobby McCain on the outside – which seems dumb to me
Godcheaux and Taylor late also help the 17 draft
But it seems like they were a bit too confident in those two
    McMillan was good this year
If Harris can somehow turn the corner 17 turns into a good draft

It’s too early to judge 2018
    But Minkah played well
    So did Baker
    And Ballage has some potential

I don’t think our drafts have been so bad recently

The free agent signings on the other hand…

    • we seem to be slowly improving lately, but looking around the roster, we have a ton of needs . we just have to maximize our chances this year, by very carefully selecting the right people that will fit in our future

  19. damn LSU plays dirty, they tried to injure the Knights qb, and already have 2 players ejected in this game for cheap shots

  20. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Congrats to the Kentucky Wildcats. Very well played game.

  21. orob, Hickey had some hits and misses, which is far better than ireland all misses. ireland has the dubious distinction of ruining our best positioning ever, so he obviously isnt as good as Hicky was.

i said Hickey was an upgrade, he was, and he wasnt the cats mouse, he hit on Landry and a few others, but Parker and other various screwups haunt this team to this very day

you are trying to twist this into ireland did a great job? i guess i cant see that, all i see is him getting fired for screwing the pooch with banners flying overhead, lol
hicky never had flying banners, ireland was special

  22. Landry looked plenty fast on that long bomb TD from Mayfield Sunday, he beat the coverage over the top. hes had a few TDs like that this year, one of them he beat triple coverage for a long TD.

if a WR can beat coverage over the top and score, he is fast enough
Miami just never utilized him that way, we used him as the best possession receiver ever

  23. if a WR can beat triple coverage over the top , and score, he is certainly fast enough, the defensive backs were not fast enough

    • he isnt worthless, hes making 15 million a year, and hes beating coverage over the top and scoring, try to keep up, he isnt Miamis slot receiver anymore

we misused him in this regard, we never asked him to do what the browns are asking him to do, hes even throwing passes and completing them, i dont remember Miami asking him to pass much

it makes little sense why you continue to say hes slow , and worthless, when he is out there proving the opposite, every game he plays, and every time he deposits a huge paycheck

  24. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

David Landry is not worth the money he is getting, he’s a little above avg slot rec, the good news is Cleveland can afford to throw away millions due to their cap situation unlike us.

  25. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m astonished as to what’s going on in Pittsburgh. It was bad enough that Le’Veon Bell did what he did, but now Antonio Brown, too? What on Earth is going on over there?

    • Brown is jealous of Schuster getting too many targets

      • i talked to my pitt buddy, he says brown has a bad attitude lately, and refuses to accept a lessor role in Pitt.
ju ju shuster had more yards than Brown this year, and Browns unhappy.

looks like brown and bell will be down at the beach hanging out next year, lol

unless someone else wants an expensive head case, good luck with that

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I think Roethlisberger has a lot to do with the success of his WRs, the way he buys time and delivers the ball, just like Mike Wallace who’s stock was soring, maybe Brown feels the same way. Wallace was fools gold when he got here because he didn’t have roethlisberger throwing to him anymore.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And to be honest… YES, it scares me that Xavien Howard seems to be following suit in wanting to be the highest paid player at his position, just like Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown.

WTF is wrong with these people? I UNDERSTAND the paper chase (I DO!), but what team is going to take on these malcontents? Certainly not a WINNER.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Howards contract runs thru 2019, i’m sure they will try to sign him before that contract ends, a signing bonus of 20 mill carries a lot of weight

  26. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

  28. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    M13

So far the only thing out of Howard’s mouth is that he wants to be the highest paid CB
    That’s not exactly a malcontent
Let’s not lump him in with Brown getting in a brawl with his QB and demanding a trade

It’s also with mentioning that Rothlisberger himself toyed with retirement and some people have said it wasn’t received well by his teammates which may explain Bell and Brown

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I dunno, man. I don’t like where this is going with Xavien…

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Let it play out a little

I want to be the highest paid CB in the nfl too

It doesn’t make me a malcontent for dreaming…lol

If it affects his game or game prep it matters
Other than that, it’s just a decision for the team

He’s not the best CB in the nfl
        But top 5…maybe
So he should be paid like it when it’s his time
But right now he is under contract
Usually it’s economical to sign a guy under contract
So maybe talking about $ leads to a signing before he can test the market

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Yes, I know. I live in PA and have the pulse of both the Stealers* and Eagles (sadly!).

Pretty sad that AB is griping about Ju-Ju Shit-Cluster’s targets. AB just tied a Jerry Rice record, so he needs to STFU with all the $$$ he’s getting paid.

  30. our biggest mistake of the last 5 years drafts has been failing to draft a QB that can start someday.
this mistake is so huge it overshadows all else imo

the Dolphins had the 33rd rated QB this season, Tannehill. and last year we had broadcast booth reclaim and Matt Moore
in retrospect, we could never succeed without drafting a qb, we watched other teams get quality qbs, and we did nothing but pick harrises and shit
not nearly good enough, and we paid for it, Gase lost his job, but might not have if he had a budding superstar winning games around here and providing hope and excitement.
Gase made mistakes, but he never threw a pick 6, thats execution breakdown by Tannehill

  31. our FO has been so inept the last 5 years

that even Miko Grimes, the dullest knife in the drawer was right the team needed to move on from Tannehill.

if Miko was ahem, wise enough to see it, why cant highly paid professionals see it?

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Everyone who shat on tannehill was right about him

But it doesn’t make them personell gurus
People who spew venom and wait for some one to fail will always be right occasionally

A more important quality is picking some one who will succeed

Let me know when miko uncovers the next Aaron Rogers

  32. if Miko was the GM, We would have a franchise potential QB on the roster, and maybe Gase and the Dolphins would be moving forward instead of reset in 2019

granted , and seriously, Miko would probably make a horrible GM<

but got to give her credit for recognizing Miamis biggest problem ,, when our own FO , so called experts, were blind and got caught napping at the wheel driving the tannehill clown car

  33. Haskins used his eyes to draw the safety, nice! im liking what im seeing so far

  34. when a QB can draw a safety with his eyes, thats a skill that can translate to the NFL IMO.

its far from be all end all, but its a nice skill to have, and im thinking Haskins has some more TDs coming today and we will see some other cool stuff

  35. ive seen Haskins play before, He would be a good fit for Miami IMO< but im not ready to say lets go get him yet, i need to evaluate the other qb a little more before i say, hey, thats our guy

  36. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He had a horrible year. They changed to a pro system. He really struggled as opposed to the one read system he was in last year. There is no doubt he has the physical talent but I don’t think he has the mental talent to play at the next level

        ^^^

      • we are 5 years behind in drafting a QB, making it 6 is unacceptable imo,

new coach needs a stud rookie QB to work with, making the new coach try to win with tannehill is unfair and unproductive, and we reset again in 2020

      • Who is this stud you refer to? Unless Haskins declares who is available?

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

        David :
Taking a guy just because we need one is a recipe for disaster. There’s probably one or two guys who are possible franchise QBs depending on if Haskins comes out. They won’t be there at 13. We don’t have the capital to move up. Next year there is probably 3-5 guys who will be legit prospects. Build the lines and get draft capital and get our guy in 2020

  50. class might be deeper, but we arent drafting for class, we only need one guy, and no time like the present reset.
lets get a Haskins or Lock in here and lets get the party started NOW with a new coach and new qb

  51. we have an out on Tannehill this year, no sense hanging onto a guy and paying megamillions we know isnt our fuure,

  52. the recipe for disaster is never selecting a qb,, because none are perfect.

that is where we are now, Gase is fired, Ross is pissed, rock bottom,
high priced bandaids ; FA like Cutler are not the way to build a team, we have to take a chance with an imperfect qb like everyone else does, and make the best of it.

imagine if Miami drafted Mahomes , would things be differant?

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

all college QBs are judged by the same stats so wouldn’t it make sense to lend credible weight to that stat when deciding who to target?

  54. Lou, im fine with Haskins or Lock, both are potential franchise QB, Tannehill is not

  55. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Browning is not impressing me

  56. funny we are so picky with drafting a qb,

and the qb we have on the roster will cost us too much , is the 33rd rated passer in the NFL, helped his coach get fired tossing pick sixes, with NO future in Miami

  57. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I’ll tell you one thing, Grier is dead bent on getting rid of Tannehill and drafting our future QB, he lobbied last year to draft a QB and it fell upon deaf ears to the decision makers, this year he is the decision maker.
when asked of Tannehills status he replied, “he’s on the roster”

  58. we dont have a new coach yet, but what do we do if the new coach demands a different qb than Tannehill?
    he very well might

  59. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Haskins is really good at going through his progressions.

  60. of course with Haskins cementing his legacy in Ohio State tonight, will for sure mean hes gone in the first 2-4 picks imo

  61. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Haskins is the best QB in this draft and will go before 6 just because someone will want him that badly. He would have been in the top 2 QBs of last years draft. The only negative he has is experience Grier isn’t very good but his experience and potential will keep him in the 1st. There’s a lot of talk about limited arm strength and he makes really poor decisions. Nobody else is a 1st and if someone gets Lock, etc early, then he better have Rams and Bears level of support because he’s extremely inaccurate and plays poorly in big games.

  62. i believe is probably unlikely Miami could pull off a trade deal for Haskins, but its certainly possible, and imo worth a few phone calls around the league to see if a trade package could be worked out or not.

like i said before, if We never try,,,,

  63. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

That hit by alonso was a bunch of BS, he didn’t even make contact with the bills QB, he should have never been ejected and the Bills should have been called for unsportsman like conduct.

it looked as if he pulled off of hitting him at the last second,

  64. New Age's avatar New Age says:

I’ve watched both QBs all year long. Grier is fool’s gold and Haskins is the 2nd best QB in college behind Tu’a.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Agree on Haskins. I am not as high on Grier as am on Haskins but I am not as low on him as you are. If he is there at 13 I would be okay with taking him but not trading up for him

  65. Tannehill probably wont even be here next year, we have a gaping hole at the most important position, and need to address it one way or the other, the new coach will have nothing at QB

the only option that makes sense is go after the guy that will help the team and be a part of our future

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

We don’t have the picks to get Haskins.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We’d have to make one of those big package deals but it is possible.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Giants, Jags, Denver, and probably Cincy and Oakland would be interested in Haskins. They have placement and at least as many picks. I guess if we used three 1sts and two 2nds but that would murder our draft until Grier is gone lol.

  66. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I think our QB next season is likely to be someone we sign as aFA.

  67. it will be interesting to see which direction the team goes. but whatever decisions they make, it will for sure effect the direction of where we go

  68. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Ken,

Grier really sucked against several teams and was unable to carry his team against some mediocre defenses. He had the chance to beat OU and OSU near the end of the year and flopped. He also quit on his team. That isn’t the biggest deal for me but I want our QB to be a leader and Grier just hasn’t done it. He reminds me so much of Tannehill. If he didn;t have Sills, I’m not really sure if he would have accomplished nearly as much. I wanted him all of last year and watched him closely this year hoping he would be THE ONE. He isn’t.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I saw the OU game and thought he looked good

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

He did but OU has maybe the worse defense in college. Everyone looks good against them. Grier isn’t the worst guy in the world and we’d be average with him. He can be an NFL starter which is something by itself. I want more and he won’t get us there. Good person, average QB. Like I said, he reminds me of a Tannehill that will throw a deeper ball but probably won’t make much better decisions and may not have the arm to do what he wants.

  69. beautiful touch pass from Haskins, this is our guy we need

  70. Haskins fronting his skills to the world, damn hes gonna be great in the NFL imo

  71. he sold me tonight, im ready to say hes the best pick for Miami unless Josh ALlen falls to us, id have to bring him in , and try to trade up for Lock if that happened,,

but that could be damn near impossible to trade up for Lock if we used the first on Allen, we would likely have to go with one or the other, not both

  72. but Josh ALlen would be an awesome consolation Prize IMO if we cant get a QB, get a Qb in a later round and call it a day

  73. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Ken,

You’re a Fromm fan too, right? I hate to say it but I’d bomb for Fromm?

  74. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Lock does have a big arm.

  75. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I dont think Haskins has declared yet

Maybe after this game we find out

  76. its extremely optimistic, but if we somehow came out of this draft with Lock and Allen, id be jacked as hell for the upcoming season woo hooo

even one of the other top DL and Lock would be ok, and a bit more likely

  77. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I agree (as of the last couple of days) that nexts year draft is going to be much better for QB

But we don’t just need a starter we need a backup

So we shouldn’t be shy about drafting a QB

I’m just starting to beleive we might be better suited drafting up front this year

  78. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

The first half of the Rose Bowl featured the worst quarterbacking I’ve seen this season by a Top 10 ranked team (Browning of the Huskies)! If THIS is the best & highest ranked team in the PAC-12, the folks at The Rose Bowl need to drop the PAC-12 as the host conference of The Rose Bowl!!! Maybe the Champs of the AAC or C-USA should be tried for a couple of years?
    ——————
Speaking of the Rose Bowl, Haskins (who I’ve seen play 5 times this season) has potential. Buy I’d take Will Grier straight-up over Haskins right now. Whomever our new HC is, he’d better hire a Quarterback Whisperer as his OC. We sure as hell did NOT have one the last 3 seasons!!!

  79. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Piggy,
So I got destroyed on a weekly basis for my opinion of Tanny for years. Now that I’ve been proven right, I’m an ass for being right because I said he wasn’t good? Lol

  80. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Don’t be so hard on Browning bc of this game
OSU is light years better in terms of talent
So he has his work cut out for him today

Also curious to see if Washington pulls him for Eason
Who is also a QB who might be in the 2020 draft

  81. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The Duke QB (Daniel Jones) also declared recently
I don’t know much about him
But people say he might go in the 1st

  82. thats the part that bothers me somewhat, Gase got the axe cause the team and QB especially didnt play well.

but im sure Gase didnt teach Tannehill to throw pick sixes, Tanehill doomed Gase with his piss poor play.

anyone think Gase would still be here if Tanny played lights out and had us in the playoffs? i do

  83. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    In case you were wondering

  84. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Piggy,

The Senior Bowl has a really good QB pool this year. It even has Grier if we wanted to pull that trigger. https://www.seniorbowl.com/accepted-invites.php?position=QB&conference=&s_id=

  85. the qb class got deeper 🙂 lets roll !

  86. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I think you take BPA in the first this year because you have a ton of needs. If you think that’s a QB, you take him. Don’t artificially elevate a QB as is often done. But, there’s absolutely no guarantee you will even have a shot at drafting a QB in the first next year, so it makes no sense to pass one up this year and just assume you’ll get one next year. If the QB crop is better next year, lots of teams will be trying to get one. Unless we end up with a top 3—5 pick, it’ll be expensive to get one…if you can.
    ***
I’m also not a big fan of taking a QB outside of the first round. Yes, there are always exceptions but most franchise type QBs come from the first round. Drafting one after the first two rounds is more than likely a waste of a pick. Picks like Wilson are not typical. He’s the exception.

  87. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

It wouldn’t be crazy to draft 2 QBs in days 1 and 2 over the next 2 years

    Just saying…nothing wrong with competition

  88. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Ken,
If being right makes me an ass, I may as well be a big one. Lol

  89. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Couple of good throws by browning

  90. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Let’s see how Browning does now

  91. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Ken,
I feel like everyone here pictures me as a big, fat slob sitting on the sofa with a towel around my neck and a bucket of chicken in my lap. Lol

  92. is it just Me? or are the cheerleaders really cute? 🙂

  93. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    David,
They’re also a third our age…and they never stop talking. Lol

  94. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Let’s go browning

  95. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Browning looks completely different this half as compared to the first half

  96. Ken's avatar Ken says:

That was one of the worst onside attempts I have seen
