Dolphins news and Senior Bowl week

First news on the docket is the Miami Dolphins have granted former OC Dowell Loggains permission to seek employment elsewhere. Loggains has all but been named Adam Gase’s OC for the NY Jets. You know it makes me angry typing Gase’s name? I hope he does miserably for the Jets. The biggest news though is the Miami Dolphins have sent Dan Marino to scout the QB’s at the Senior Bowl.

The Dolphins are in obvious need of a QB, especially once they either trade or cut Ryan Tannehill, which would leave Luke Falk and newly acquired Jake Rudock as the only QB’s on the roster. That doesn’t mean we will be drafting a QB in the 1st RD, but it is a legitimate possibility. The North roster has 2 possible 1st RD picks in Drew Lock and Daniel Jones, as well as later picks Ryan Finley and Trace McSorley. The South roster has Will Grier, Gardner Minshew, Jarret Stidham and Tyree Jackson. If you like big QB’s, Tyree Jackson is 6’7 245. Marino should be watching all these QB’s closely, we simply need to add QB talent no matter what.

We all know a lot of the top talent in this draft lies in the defensive line, the defensive ends and tackles. The majority of talent in this draft are Juniors or lower, but there are a handful of talented Seniors as well. At DE there’s Montez Sweat, Zach Allen, Jaylon Ferguson, Carl Granderson and Charles Omenihu, and DT Isaiah Buggs.

Unfortunately, one of our resident scouts here “D” will not be attending the Senior Bowl as he has the last few years, but I will be watching practices and whatever else I can, and I’m sure a few people here will be watching as well, so any info or observations you have, let us know.

Perfect timing on the page turn there Mike E!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  2. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Congrats Rock – I can’t ever be first, that would be cheating

  3. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I have posted “First” a couple of times and then refreshed the page and said DOH! someone got to be first before my first. LOL

  4. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I am just hoping and praying that we are not sitting here 10 years from now bemoaning what could have been if we had just had more patience and kept Gase…..

The thought makes me queasy but it would fit just perfectly into the narrative of my life. Brady & Belicheat retire finally and then Gase makes the Jets the next perennial winner…

    KILL ME IF THIS HAPPENS!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That would be a nightmare. I think a lot, it’s not always pretty. But, what are the odds that ANY power will emerge from the AFC east after the Patriots are done? Very slim I’d say, so while I’m not too worried that the Jets will be the next dynasty, the odds are the same for us, pretty slim.

  5. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rock – I’m pretty far into the new book, I dig it. It looks to be a pretty good new series, and I think you’ll like it.

Mike E, I ran out of stuff to read. Barnes & Noble didn’t have any of the “new” authors I was going to try out from the recommendations you guys have made on the shelf so I need to go on line and order some.

In the meantime I have pulled David Eddings “the Belgariad” off the shelf to re-read. It’s such a light and easy read and I like the characters so it should fill a week or so until I get something delivered.

Any last minute suggestions from you guys?

I have read everything from the following; Need to add to the list.
    J.R.R. Tolkien
    George R.R. Martin
    Brandon Sanderson
    Steven Erickson
    Robert Jordan
    Terry Brooks
    Joe Abercrombie
    David Eddings
    Stephen R. Donaldson
    Raymond E. Feist
    Janny Wurts
    Katherine Kurtz
    Fritz Lieber
    Tad Williams
    Brent Weeks
    Marion Zimmer Bradley
    R.A. Salvatore
    Terry Goodkind
    Piers Anthony
    Douglas Adams
    Orson Scott Card
    C.J. Cherryh
    Troy Denning
    Ed Greenwood
    Margaret Weis
    Tracy Hickman
    L.E. Modesitt, JR.
    Douglas Niles
    Eric Von Lustbader

Have any of you read Patrick Rothfuss or Robin Hobb? I have seen their books but for whatever reason (cover art?) not picked them up.

I am running out of authors and the ones I like are all passing away or not writing fast enough.

If you guys have an author of fantasy fiction I didn’t list above you can recommend I will give it a shot.

  8. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“obvious need of a QB” there will be if they send Tanny off to another team. Might be a real ideal spot for some QB wanting to prove himself in the league though cause will offer a chance to start. Wouldn’t go to a high-end QB type but the next level in FA might be lining up.

  9. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Those are just the fantasy authors I have read. I have read a bunch of spy novels and war novels and horror novels from various authors as well. The name on here is taken already but people around town (waiters, bar tenders, baristas, etc.) call me Bookman.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

That opens it up a bit more. If you haven’t read all the early Ludlum novels (Jason Bourne) worth filling in…. later ones not as good though.

Try the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell, Hornblower series by C. S. Forester or Bolitho novels by Alexander Kent. Get to learn some history along the way with those as well.

And even if not in one of those exact gendres — could never put a James Clavell down (the Shogun guy)

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

James Clavell was really good. I enjoyed Shogun

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

No one who liked Shogun wouldn’t like Tai-Pan. Noble House too, even if not quite as good.

If you like Clavell, Leon Uris is another way to go (Battle Cry, Exodus and Topaz are my faves).

  10. D's avatar D says:

Have you read everything from Tolkien? Like even some of the individual stories and the tales that his son finished for him.

    • D's avatar D says:

I haven’t even read all of Tolkien’s stuff and im ridiculously into his writings lol. I have Tolkien posters up in my house even.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

No, I read the Hobbit, The lord of the rings trilogy and the Silmarillion only. I’m not a fan of “short stories” and anthologies. I want to read something with some “meat” to it.

      • D's avatar D says:

The short stories are meaty, they just get into more detail into some of the stuff more lightly touched on in the Silmarillion. I liked them. I love the Silmarillion, its probably my favorite of all his works, probably because of the depth of knowledge you get about that universe when you read it. The hobbit was my favorite story though. Some of those like the children of Hurin are really really good stories that give some depth to other thing in other works.

This from Josh Alper of NBC sports sure does make it sound like Flores is a done deal.
    ———————————————-
The Patriots are set to lose linebackers coach and de facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores to the Dolphins after the Super Bowl and that will make two years in a row that the team’s top defensive assistant has moved on for a head coaching job. Per a report from the Senior Bowl, former NFL head coach Greg Schiano is a likely addition to the top of the defensive staff for the 2019 season

  12. D's avatar D says:

  13. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Off the top of my head names you didn’t list in fantasy writing:

Steven Brust (Dragaerian series. Vlad Taltos is one of my favorite characters of all time.)
    David Gemmell – everything
    CS Friedman (coldfire trilogy)
    Roger Zelazny (Amber series)
Scott Bakker (Prince of Nothing and Aspect Emperor series, also Neuromancer was a good sci-fi book)
    Robert Asprin (Myth series)
    Isaac Asimov (sci-fi)

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Rock, I also take a book with me everywhere. I literally have thousands. I got a vasectomy about a decade ago, and both the nurse and doctor commented on the fact I wanted to read during the procedure and they had never seen that before. My mom still loves to tell the story of how I read Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot in its entirety when I was 5 years old, and was pissed off at her for years because she wouldn’t let me watch the movie, lol.

As long as I have a book, I’m good no matter what else is going on, so I always have a book. I’ve got a Zelazny book with me right now, lol.

    Reply

I devoured the Forgotten Realms novels when I was younger. Many of them are not in print anymore for what ever reason. Elminster was one of my favorites too. I really liked how the different authors expounded upon the “world” and even furthered other authors creations in their stories. Salvatore is the easiest to find out of them. Hickman and Wies teamed up a lot in that world. (forgotten realms)

  17. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Sorry to make this the book club…. LOL

I just ordered David Gemmell’s: Legend, the king beyond the gate, waylander and quest for lost heros.

I had forgotten about the recommendation of David Gemmell. Thanks guys!

  18. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

D, the Harpers were great. That is the series I was think of in the forgotten realms where each author collaborated to expand “the world.”

Denning, Greenwood, Elaine Cunningham (I had forgotten her)

There were so many of them (i am pretty sure I read 100’s, perhaps all that were available)

It was cool how they all “Experienced” the same things through different authors / novels. like the “time of troubles” when some of the gods were cast down and became avatars.

    Rock,
People recommended Rothfuss to me. I just finished his second book in the Kingkiller Chronicle series, but I wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t terrible, but it was a slow, kinda boring read. I’ll read the third book when it comes out, but i’m not really looking forward to it.
    ***
I would recommend Robin Hobbs. She’s written lots of stuff. I also liked the Bronze Knight series by John Marco. I also really enjoyed The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon. It’s an easy, short read and probably surprised me in my enjoyment of it more than any series I’ve ever read.
    ***
Gemmell’s stuff is definitely fun to read.

It’s that time of year, in between the SB, the draft, and coming off another shitty season. What to discuss? Anything and everything . . .

  23. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah read this one is to discuss his staff.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Why do I have a feeling that one will have a whole lot of “hypothetically, who would you want on your coaching staff” involved. With a few “talked to that guy” latelies thrown in.

      • D's avatar D says:

No it seems legit that they can hire him, announce it and probably truly talk staff and make those announcements as well. We may be getting a bunch of new info soon.

      • D's avatar D says:

This may be the official end to the unofficial news.

      • D's avatar D says:

Ok now im seeing stuff that says they cant “announce” him but they can do all the stuff that hiring him entails, like let him pick his staff, etc. They just cant officially announce his hire.

  24. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    • D's avatar D says:

I get there is a contract and you cant sign a guy to a contract until his old one if up, but its kinda dumb they cant just spit the shit out and worry about the paperwork side of things behind the scenes.

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Basically they can offer him the job w/o any negotiation of price, and then after the SB, they can do all that, officially hire him, and announce it. We have a while.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

And unless things have changed, he can only say yes in principle and is free to back out any time he wants until the contract is signed. But given that the other positions are filled, that would probably only be cause the Evil One makes him an offer he can’t refuse.

    • This is where NFL rules are screwed up. If a team is going to hire a coach and there’s really nothing that can be done by his current team to stop him according to NFL rules to begin with why can’t the new team give him terms of the deal so there is an actual offer and acceptance.

If they agree in principle to the hire without any kind of money, which is necessary for a contract to take place, then there is no contract and either party can say they don’t want to go ahead with it after the Super Bowl.

So, what if they offer Flores a certain amount of money after the Super Bowl and he declines? Then what?

  26. D's avatar D says:

    it’s call finsmob unleashed. 🙂

  31. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Lou – It’s definitely flawed, but I think the reason they don’t allow teams to hire people who are still working for a team in the playoffs or in the SB is so that person doesn’t have any reason not to do his job well and complete the season. In other words, if Flores was hired by Miami, is it possible he may now do things would hurt the Patriots because it help Miami? Not saying it completely avoids those kind of things because for all intents and purposes, it appears that Flores is the next HC of the Miami Dolphins, but I guess that’s what the NFL is afraid of.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I’m surprised he was interviewed, in the middle of a playoff run? seems like a distraction to me

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I believe he was first interviewed when the Pats were on the bye week in the playoffs. Now the 2nd one is during the two week break before the SB. It’s just one day, it’s not like he’ll lose all focus because he sat down to discuss him future for a few hours. LOL

  32. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

looks like miami is showing the exit door to dowell loggains

  33. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

should miami get a stop gap qb in fa? certainly you’re not going to draft a qb then throw him to the wolves right away.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I would not be surprised if we brought in Teddy Bridgewater. He’s from Miami and I read a report somewhere that suggested he’d be interested in playing for the Dolphins.

  34. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I would think Bridgewater would want a multi year contract, and if it were me, I wouldn’t do that. I’d rather go with a one year type deal with Fitz, or even McCown rather than give another QB a 4 or 5 year deal

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Not sure about that. He doesn’t have a body of work in recent years to demand that. He needs to prove he can be a starter again.

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

That’s my thought too. He knows the situation and if he can play well he will get offers from other teams or if the Fins screw the pooch he will get a multi year from them.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

If he’s willing to take a 2 YR deal, I’d probably bring him in, as long as it’s not over $10M per. Not sure where he’s at salary wise, but I don’t think we should go past that for any QB. We’re drafting our QB, either this year or next, so I don’t want to kill our cap at the QB position. Tannehill is already doing that.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think Bridgewater, Falk, Rudock and a rookie would be ideal. Let them all compete and go from there.

  35. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Here were Bridgewater’s most recent contract numbers.
    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/teddy-bridgewater-14441/

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That was confusing, did he have a 3 YR deal, and then get cut by the Saints?

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I believe those voided years were from Minnesota. He signed with the Jets for one year and the Saints had to pick up his contract from them when they traded for him. But he’s a UFA this year. The Jets traded a 6th and Bridgewater to the Saints for a 3rd. We’ll see I’m just throwing an option out there.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

he got paid 1 mil by the jets last season.

  36. I can’t see the team bringing in Bridgewater. That would be extremely surprising. My hopes would be they would draft TWO and go from there.

  37. This is the way I look at it. I think this is a solid 3 year rebuild that’s going to happen. That’s right. 3 years to get it to the point where it’s going to look like they want it to and I just don’t see them bringing in a stopgap guy at qb that’s not going to be in the future plans.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Well that’s what stopgap is, a bridge to the future until you have your guy. If Bridgewater plays really well you address that situation at that time.

      • right, and I don’t think that’s what they should be looking at. there’s some qb’s in this draft they can draft and develop and if it’s going to take a good 3 yrs to get there anyway, why waste your time on a stopgap guy? I’d rather draft a couple that I like and go from there.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Fair enough but we don’t know how they want to go about anything just yet.

      • true. we don’t. but I’d rather see them developing talent than bringing in guys like that because, to me, it means they want to win games rather than bring along talent. who cares if a rookie qb takes 2 or 3 yrs to develop if you’re doing a rebuild. I don’t and I’m hoping they feel the same way. but, JMHBSO

  38. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

What is the fascination with Teddy Bridgewater? He is a below average QB.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s not a fascination, it’s an option for a vet QB who is only 26 years old. I wouldn’t say below average but average. 😉

      • thing is, if you’re doing a rebuild why waste your time bringing in a guy who’s not going to be there or isn’t the future. wouldn’t you rather have a guy running your offense that COULD be the future of the franchise?

  39. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Tim Knight says:
    January 23, 2019 at 4:56 pm
Right bonus money. He got traded before any salary was paid.

Ahhhh I was not reading it right. You are correct. He got paid 1m by the yets and 5 mil by the Aints

  40. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Lou, in the big scheme of things you can do both. Have a stopgap and develop young QBs. I also want to make it clear I’m not pounding the table for Bridgewater, just that it wouldn’t surprise me if they brought him in.

    • I understand. And, again, I’m just offering up my opinion on the subject. If they were to bring in a stopgap my choice would be Beathard if San Fran decides to move on from him for Mullen because he’s a guy that can maybe develop into something and not just be a stopgap.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That would have to be a trade or we wait until he’s cut because he’s under contract through 2020 as a 2017 3rd rd pick.

      • and that is why I’d lean more towards drafting 2 guys in this year’s draft. we can trade tannehill and jones and get two quarterbacks after the first. I don’t care if we get a guy in the first. unless you’re moving way up in the first rd for an elite prospect, and I’m not convinced any of these guys are, then pick 2 and develop.

        Pick 2. Just like Panera.

  41. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

  42. Can’t believe the Loggains hiring is such big news in NY. They’ll want him gone by the end of next season.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Didn’t know enough about him to even judge. Was pretty clear O was Gase’s.

      • well, he was the OC in CHI for 2 yrs after Gase left and it wasn’t much of an offense.

      • these guys just keep getting recycled over and over. he was the QB coach w/the Titans and then the OC for 2 yrs. fired
then he goes to CLE and is the QB coach there.
then he goes to CHI and is the QB coach there.
then he gets promoted to OC for 2 yrs when Gase leaves and is fired.
then he goes to MIA as the OC for a year and now he’s with the Jets.

Success leaves clues. so does lack of success.

If ya can get Teddy Bridgewater ‘on the cheap’, I think ya DO IT. He’s a former 1st round draft pick who had an unfortunate (yet major) knee injury in game 1 of the ’17 season; by all accounts he’s healed. He’s been soaking up game over the last 2 seasons, the kid is smart, a hard-worker, and a quality individual. And let’s remember he made the Pro-Bowl in ’15.

If he can be developed into what he was drafted to be, we can then either keep him, or trade him for a relatively high draft pick. If he can’t be developed into what he was drafted to be, well that’s where ‘on the cheap’ comes in: it won’t hurt us to cut him.

REGARDLESS of signing Bridgewater, we’ve got to draft a young QB (or QBs) until we get it RIGHT. I see zero harm in signing Bridgewater. That’s just my $.02, though.

But we have a young QB who is younger that we want to roll with. After two years Teddy has proven himself again, helped this new regime build their program, now he gets an opportunity to be the man with a new team. But along the way he helped the young guns, was a good teammate and helped the team be competitive. There is value in that too.

I’m with ya on that 100%. As Case Keenum’s agent [ 😉 ], I saw the love and mutual respect with Case and Teddy. Talk about 2 VERY GOOD teammates who really helped each other and others around them. It was one of the most under-reported feel-good stories of the ’17 season.

There is HUGE value in getting quality individuals like Teddy and Case, and for the reasons you just stated above. Frank Gore is yet another example.

Just know that there’s somewhat of a symbiotic relationship between the teams and the media. Translation: teams will tell the reporters what they want to be put out there. And I’ll tell ya this much (JMO): the Senior Bowl is over-rated by many. I don’t mean to say that it doesn’t mean anything (on the contrary)… it’s just a tad over-rated. Truth is, the ELITE athletes go pro before they become a senior… just sayin’.

But I don’t think a rookie will have this team worse offensively if they actually run a decent offense.

you are in a win now mode. it would seem it’s a habit around here, let’s make moves that help us today.

who cares about the money spent at QB, it’s not like we are one guy away from the SB.

I believe this new philosophy of tanking and building thru the draft is really not so new.

we have not signed any top shelf FAs on long term deals since Suh.

so regardless of who we sign i’m sure it will be on a year to year basis.

the one thing is all players and coaches are in a win now mode because that gives them job security. and for that reason you should start building from the trenches out.

  71. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

in order to win big we must first lose big,
we have to get early picks and stockpile draft pics,
    mediocrity breeds mediocrity

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s not tanking, it’s just not making moves that cost you in the long run. There’s nothing wrong with drafting a young QB and throwing him into a competition with the 2 other young QB’s we have. We’re so far from being one player away, so when you recognize that, you do what you can to build the team and strengthen the team everywhere, rather than overspending at the QB position to get a couple of more wins this season.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

we really should target a qb not just take the best at the point we’re at in this years draft.
kind’ve like what indy did with luck.

target the Clemson QB, meanwhile stockpile draft picks, trade back this year and add future picks for 2020 and again in 2021 then add your qb.
meanwhile build the DL and OL with young rookie players.

QBs, OL & DL are the most difficult positions to fill, the rest of the skilled positions are easier due to the fact that there are more medium size athletes then there are bigger ones with the ability to move well.

  72. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I would trade back and acquire a 1st next year, go back as far as it takes then with that pick and the 2nd take an OL or DL on both picks and pick up more OL and DL along the way, i would let falk and ruddok battle it out.
in 2020 when i have an early first rnder and the 1st from 2019, i would use one of those to trade back into 2021 again, and again i would use my early picks on the OL and DL.
at the point of the 2021 draft we will be sitting in a great position with multiple early picks and a great salary cap situation.
at that point go get your QB and start building to win now.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

It’s not a bad idea to try to take steps to acquire a 1st in 2019 by trading back

But there are good DL this year, so we miss out on one of them
If you trade back late first, you can probably still get a good DL

However if we want a particular qb, it’s compeltely inplausible

I don’t think it’s would be a crazy idea to focus on interior OL with early picks after a trade back

We can be a power running team with our RBs and some adjustments on the OL

But I’m a little concerned about having a bad DL in 2019

Jags went to the AFC championship with crappy Bortles….now the wheels came off this year. So you still need a decent QB to be consistently contending. You can’t count of having the defense perform at the level Jags did 2 years ago. They were still a very good D but you got to have some help on offense.

  75. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I am in the trade back and stock up on more picks camp. I think we need more ammo to go and get the QB of the future. Plus, without purposefully “tanking” we will have the whole new scheme learning curve to go through plus if we trade / dump some players it should cost us a few games so we will SHOULD have a higher draft position next draft.

Trade who you can get value for. Cut dead weight and stock up on picks to move up if needed next draft to get the QB of the future. Let Flores settle in before he has to pick the guy he is going to be married to for the next 3 years (hopefully more, but you know)

  76. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Now here is the most important question. Do we FINALLY draft a long snapper to replace John Denney this year or what!?? If so what round to do you draft a long snapper in?

Fan Speak doesn’t even list it as a position to choose from when you filter players so I can’t even mock one to us.

  77. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, but the 49ers also traded for Jimmy G and then paid him a boatload. I’m all for drafting QBs. But there is nothing wrong with a stopgap vet at the beginning of this new regime.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I don’t see it as a need. We just differ there in our approach, and that’s cool. I’d run with the drafted QB and the two kids we have, and see what happens. I don’t need a vet to get us 2-3 more wins. We’re not going anywhere next season, so save the cap space for the next couple of seasons.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s not really my opinion but what the team might do. It happens a lot. If we hit on the rook early on then we roll with him and the vet might be the backup.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

If we draft a QB early, 1st or 2nd RD, that means with Tannehill’s salary, the draftee, Falk and Rudock will probably be over $16M. I think that’s enough.

  78. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

  79. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tim – If we grab a vet, I’ll deal with it. Maybe I’ll even be happy about it, but the way I want to do it would be w/o the extra salary at QB. That’s the huge advantage you get when you have a QB on his rookie salary, and by signing a vet, it throws that advantage away.

Two words every Dolphins fan should know: Erhardt-Perkins.

Kind of a cryptic message but I knew what he meant. Erhardt-Perkins is the system the Pats offense evolved from. Known for the quote from Erhardt “”throw to score, run to win.” This was also the system that Parcells ran, Cowher ran it in PIT and Belichick runs it in NE though it’s been tweaked in recent times due to the rule changes and Brady.

Then Beasley’s tweet was followed up with this article.
    https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article225018440.html

As for the question will Chad O’Shea bring the Patriots’ modified version of the Erhardt-Perkins system to Miami? I would say why wouldn’t he? He’s been coaching it for 10 years and I think he’s seen a lot of success with it.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Coaches can coach any system, it still comes down to execution and making big plays via talent. But usually young coaches will run systems they know and are comfortable with. Should be fun at least seeing a new approach. Most likely we’ll have to wait two seasons to see if it’s coming to fruition. Maybe we get a glimpse of it along the way but I mean in their 3rd season we should be ready to start contending.
