Miami Dolphins 2019 Schedule – All the details

If you’re a real football fan, you know the schedule comes out this evening at 8PM EST. You also know I ain’t got no details fer ya, because there aren’t any details to give. We know besides our divisional foes that we’ll be hosting the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins. We’ll be traveling to play the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers and the NY Giants, as well as our divisional foes. All this will take place precisely between September and December, so plan accordingly.

News is very slow at this time of year, and although the NFL Draft is just 8 days away, we know no more about what our plans are or which players we’re really interested. Job well done Miami Dolphins! That’s how it should be. Our local Miami beat reporters must be losing their collective minds. This is business done the way it should be done. Now all they have to do is actually ace every pick in this draft, do the same in 2020, and we’re on our way to championship football, right?

This evening past 8PM EST the first deliberations will begin for the 2019 Fest. The poll will probably go up tomorrow, or maybe the next day, depends on when Counselor Piggy is available. Rock will vote about 20-30 times for a game no one else wants to attend, and make sure to tell us too.

Next week, I’ll reveal my favorite players for this year’s draft (ooooh, I bet you can’t wait!). I may even make up a 7 RD Mock of who I’d like us to take, but don’t count on it. I saw some chatter that we will do a LIVE Mock Draft here this evening at 8PM EST. I encourage you all to participate, the more people in the better it will be. I know we’ll do RD 1, and if you all are enthusiastic enough to keep it going, maybe we’ll do RD 2 and more. So if you can make it, tonight at 8PM EST. LIVE Mock Draft!

Mike E — real interested in your 7 round mock…… but how about ask Wyoming for his too? Dude has put in some serious draft prep time.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

LOL – He’s got about 6000 of them out there. I invite everyone to put out their mocks. Wyo definitely does his homework, but lots of others do as well. If anyone ever wants to write an article or do something for the blog, they’re more than welcome to send it to me at nj1dolfan@yahoo.com

Wow the Islanders swept the Penguins and the Blue Jackets swept the Lightning. That’s pretty shocking. NHL playoffs can be crazy though.

  3. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    Stanger
I’ve only posted my mock once.

The rest are just what came out of the simulator https://first-pick.com

It’s fun to get Tim all frilled up over “That payer will never be available”! 😉

How is this going to work tonight? Are we all going to cast a vote for the Pick, and let majority rule?

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Not sure. What we did in the past is just create an order of all the people who are in it, and they pick for whatever team they land on each time around. Honestly, I’m all for a majority vote, I think that would be more accurate. Your thoughts?

      • D's avatar D says:

Its going to take a while unless you set time limits for each pick so that even if only one person picks, its going to over after maybe 5 minutes or something reasonable

      • D's avatar D says:

You are also going to need some rules. Trades an option to be realistic? How do you break a tie?

  4. D's avatar D says:

Here is what i think, limit of time per pick is set at either 3 or 5 minutes. Trades are an option, and you get 10 minutes to see what the majority feel about the acceptance of the trade. If a person does trade, the person receiving the spot thats currently up will get their 3 or 5 still. Tie breakers are resolved by the order the vote came in, early vote gets the tie breaker.

    • D's avatar D says:

Example: Round 1 pick 1, trade purposed. 10 minute timer starts. Arizona receives an offer from NYG to move up to number 1. They offer swap of 6 and 1 and throw in 17 and a third rounder. We vote on if we think they would make that trade and if it would be accepted. End of timer. NYG on the clock. we vote on who they traded up to select. 3-5 minutes later majority of votes is the selection.

      • D's avatar D says:

Forgot to mention other offers could also be suggested in that time, and all could be voted on but still all happens inside the 10 mins.

I’ve been mostly out of it this offseason, tired of the same shit different year BS with this team. I’ve really only looked at tape for Kyler, who I think will be great and should be the first pick.

I have no idea, if Flores is the real deal or just another bad Belicheat clone, but he seems to say the right thing and seems to have everyone’s respect, but Gase did too, so…

As for the draft I’m just not into it this year, but will probably get into it afterwards when I review the tape of our draftees.

I dont really see as many holes as everyone else does, except for a NT and a couple of OL, but those guys can be had in FA, to accomplish what this team is trying to do this year.

I’d go strictly BPA at any position outside of S,TE and RB. I’m not buying the big need for an Edge, as little as I expect to see us in a 4 man front. Between Taylor, Godchaux and the guy from Detroit we can field an adequate DE rotation.

    • D's avatar D says:

The holes we have aren’t all going to be filled and i think the reason the draft feels this way is you know that this draft doesn’t fix things, whereas in the past the draft always felt like a big part of how we were going to start winning. The holes also dont look that bad to you because you arent stressing over still having holes when we start next year. Its expected we will and there is no real pressure not to have it, and therefore no excitement to see if we finally got it right. You are in rebuilding team fan mode lol. Its both liberating and kinda boring.

      • D's avatar D says:

I forgot to mention, you shouldn’t feel weird about this since its pretty much where im at and probably lots of others here.

  7. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

D – I’d prefer no trades. If we’re all doing it together, how do you get a trade proposition?

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I would hope we don’t go past 5 minutes for any pick. We should all be ready to make picks at every pick.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That quote was about final say in the draft, not all trades. But don’t know if it was that too.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yeah, not sure myself, but one could easily assume that would be the case. If you have final say over the draft, why wouldn’t you have final say on a trade up or down?

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No I mean pre-draft trades: Maxwell/Alonzo, Quinn, Spence etc.

  10. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tim – OK, I was talking specifically about the dumbass trade up for Carroo

      3 years

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Our drafts have been pretty good those 3 seasons. You have to remember under Gase it was about winning now from the day he was hired. The GM’s job is to get the HC players he wants and needs to win. Now we’re rebuilding and Flores is all in on that. It’s a different approach this time. But at the end of the day it’s still about acquiring quality players regardless of the situation

  15. D's avatar D says:

    Mike E. says:
    April 17, 2019 at 4:08 pm

Does Reshad Jones have the final say on all trades? lol
    ———————————————
I dont think the players can stop a trade, but they definitely can initiate one. If i am a coach i dont want a player that doesn’t want to be here no more than they do, so i facilitate a trade if they request one unless i just cant get anything viable in return. As far as not wanting to be traded though, thats where emotions step into it. Even if he has been a good player, etc. but he isn’t in the organizations rebuild plans long term, he probably gets traded anyways. I would however look to trade him to a team that might be better for him, even if it cost me a little in compensation. I’m not taking a 7th when i could get a 3rd or anything like that, but a 7th vs a 6th for a player that has given his best for the team for so many years, yeah i can extend that kind of grace for sure.

  16. D's avatar D says:

My guess is Grier’s input came on the selection itself and not the maneuverings to get the picks ie the trade deals. Grier has always been the personnel person, but the guy who had the connections with all the other GM and represented the organization in making deals was MTP. I think thats the way i take that comment from Grier.

  17. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Wyoming,
Hey, I’m down around Dallas for my niece’s graduation in about a month. I think you’re around Houston. If you have any thoughts on a nice place along the NW/W side of the Gulf to hang out for a few days and just chill, I’d appreciate it.

  18. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

I’ve not heard anything from Jones or the team other than he wants to be here next year!

The whole thing has been made up by a bunch of click baiters wanting attention!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yep! Some of us fans suggested it too because of the rebuild, his age and contract. But releasing him never made any sense so a trade was the only way.

  19. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Wyoming,
Thanks. I was thinking about Galveston but had a coworker tell me it wasn’t all that nice. I just need a beach and liquor. I’m not too picky.

  20. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

Houston’s only an hour away, you could even catch a Astro’s game!

Lots of stuff to do! If your a history buff there’s a whole bunch of Civil and Mexican American war memorials.

  21. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

So this year’s roster and coaching are so unknown,
I can’t even say when would be a good bye week.

Generally with a brand new HC, you want an early bye week
to fix all the crap that the new guy just discovered was wrong.

Otherwise, I hate the really early ones though,
because they don’t give your team any rest down the stretch.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’d rather save our late BYE week for 2 years down the line when we’re hopefully in the thick of things, but in general, I think we all probably make more out of the BYE week than is necessary

  22. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

And one of them will be available late 1st RD or early 2nd RD. (Jeffery Simmons)

I wonder if he is grouping them DT/DE. If so i might be more generous on my evaluations than he is lol.

        ———————————–
I just meant that if i take out the DE’s i see more as DE/OLB hybrids or just pure DE’s, i can see his list.

Williams, Oliver, Gary, Wilkins, and Simmons. I think Lawrence should be in that discussion too but he is kinda fringish. If i had to include those other guys who can play DE i have Bosa, Sweat, and probably Ferrell and maybe Burns too.

  23. D's avatar D says:

Are ya looking for places to eat or things to do, or touristy stuff Randy? Im familiar with some of that area too.

My multiple votes were all after the game was picked to bust balls

If you keep a pole open after it should be closed I will keep voting

There, I just voted again for Eric Beniemy as HC so blow me

  25. D's avatar D says:

Id say its not quite the right season for Galveston. You are pretty much equidistant from San Antonio as Houston and Galveston and i think you will get more or a “Texas” experience in San Antonio, there are a couple nice steak places over there.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He said he needs a beach and liquor so he needs to be near water and a bar. LOL

      • D's avatar D says:

Id go to a place like Brownsville to be honest, you can slip across the border and get wasted for next to nothing and enjoy the beaches across the border too. I havent been since college though so i dont know how fun it would be for an old fuck lol Sorry Randy….JBB.

      • D's avatar D says:

Port Lavaca and that area if its back to form after the hurricane is pretty nice. We have a hospital that uses our PACS there, so i go out there from time to time.

      • D's avatar D says:

Its a less busy kind of place too.

  26. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

  31. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    Mike E,

Do you want me to moderate this mock Draft as I did last year?

  33. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    I’ll be here

  34. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

You know I’m IN. Pretty sure Naples is IN, too.

  35. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Proposed rules (just like last year)

    – Majority rules on each pick
    – NO trades. That’s just going to get really screwy, and fast
    – Please use the REPLY button to cast your vote when the new pick comes up. This makes it a lot easier on all of us
    – 3 minutes per pick (it was 5 minutes last year… took too long). We’d like to get to the 2nd round if possible tonight

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    M – That works

  37. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I would REALLY, REALLY like it someone could post the collective picks after each selection is finalized. Pigster did that for us last year, and when he began doing as much, it cut my workload as moderator, making it much easier to do my job.

Through half of the 1st round (if I recall correctly), I was scrambling to copy and paste, add and subtract, get the new selection announcement up, and voting myself. Pig was a HUGE help last year! I hope he can do this again… it would be GREAT!

  38. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

How many rounds are we doing?

  39. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I may have to cut out after RD 1, depends on how long it takes

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We should take it to a vote after the 1st round… continue on tonight, or perhaps do the 2nd round tomorrow or another date.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Maybe do the 2nd round tomorrow. It gives people a chance who want to participate to see who’s off the board and we probably end up with a more accurate 2nd rd.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’d be very good with that… if the majority feels the same. We don’t know how many have actually made time to participate this evening, and perhaps this evening only. We’ll see!

  40. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Unless you’re very well versed on other teams needs, I’d recommend finding a site that lists team needs, either NFL.com, or whatever your fave is.

  44. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Dolphins GM Chris Grier: This NFL draft has a good quarterback class, but we won’t reach for one.

That means to me we’re going to follow our board and grading system. They’ve already determined which QBs they’d take at #13. If they’re not there, it’s the BPA at another position.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That means we’re moving up to #3 to get a QB. 😛

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You think the Jets want to do that with us? Watch us trade up to #1 for Murray. LOL

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The Jets definitely might want to trade back to recoup the picks they lost last year, but odds are they would hesitate to do it with us unless they rape us.

  45. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:
