Game action is here, but don’t get too excited. The players are probably pumped up, but preseason games don’t often show a lot about a team. Teams use the most basic and streamlined playbook. What these games are about is how your starters match up against the other team’s starters, how your two’s match up against the other teams two’s, and so on and so on.
Despite the fact that we won’t see any anything exotic from either team and from either side of the ball, we may get an idea how the team looks in the various formations, such as 3-4 rather 4-3 alignment. You know we’re going to see nickel and dime formations but there may be some wrinkles as to who is in them.
The starters in this game won’t all necessarily be the starters in the regular season Game 1. There’s definitely some experimentation and psychological warfare going on here. Flores is trying to motivate certain players to ascend while also giving some people an opportunity to flourish. It’s a common theme in the preseason, all teams do it.
What I’m looking for is for guys to execute their jobs well. On the offensive side, that means the O-line holds their blocks and win their individual battles. Same goes for the D-line, beat the guy in front of you.Due to the fact that the playbook (for both teams) will be basic, I want to see the RB’s be patient and find the hole, not try to bounce everything to the outside too quickly. I want to see the QB’s throwing to multiple receivers, WR’s, TE’s, and RB’s as well, but not an overload of check downs.
Atlanta has a lot talent on the offensive side of the ball. Matt Ryan will play sparingly, and because they recently placed 3rd string QB Kurt Benkert on IR, Matt Schaub and now 3rd stringer Matt Sims will get the majority of snaps. tevin Coleman is gone, but Devonta Freeman is still there and Coleman is replaced by Ito Smith. Julio Jones is still there but he will get limited snaps. The Falcons O-line is formidable and should be a good litmus test for our front 7. On defense the Falcons are less dangerous, allowing 423 points last season.
For the Dolphins, it will be very interesting to see how LG Michael Deiter fares, and also how RT Jordan Mills is coming back from injury. Besides LT Laremy Tunsil, everyone on the O-line is a question mark. RB’s 1A and 1B Drake and Ballage should both be motivated to show they deserve more carries, so that should be fun to watch. Parker, Stills and Wilson round out the WR’s with Gesicki starting at TE On defense, Harris and Carradine are the ends and rookie Christian Wilkins and Davon Godchaux are inside at DT. Baker at WLB and RaeMac in the middle and Alonso at SLB. As of now it shows Jones and BobbyMac at S, but Jones is in a walking boot so it may be TJ. Eric Rowe will be the CB opposite X. Keep an eye on Rowe because he should see a lot of action.
Let’s hope we see some good play, and no injuries and we’ll call the night a success!
GO DOLPHINS!!
#staythecourse

Well holy $#!t, Tannehill just threw a TD to a TE!
Needham never played for NE. He’s a rookie.
You are correct. I was think of Rowe
Great job, Josh Rosen, to avoid the sack!
Rosen looks awesome scrambling and even made a pass to the new guy while in the grasp of a tackle.
Holden keeps getting beat . He “blocked” for Rosen in the desert, too.
BALLAGE looks NICE!!!
He’s good. Him and Drake is a nice duo.
Rosen drives the team right down the field for a TD.
no prob Phel.
So many new guys I have to keep the roster open in another window to try to tell who is who.
Hill’s a Wyoming Cowboy!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if Needham hates X right about now???????
our dbs look weak; mcDonald cheated up and lost
Godchaux nice play in the trench.
CAN’T GET any of Dolphins’ game here in Tampa. THE BEST thing I’ve seen tonight was Buffalo using Devan Singletary on SIX STRAIGHT PLAYS (4 RUNS FOR ABOUT 30 YARDS, 2 RECEPTIONS FOR ABOUT 20 YARDS) setting up the Bills’ first score. They also talked about Singeltary scoring 66 touchdowns in 2 and 1/2 seasons at Florida Atlantic. Dolphin fans will get to see Singletary twice per season, probably for several years in the AFC East.
ALL HE DOES IS SCORE TOUCHDOWNS!!
Wilkins partially deflects a throw to save a first down.

—————
No doubt, man. My only concern would be the effectiveness of our O-Line for our duo, and it’s far too early to judge it at this point in the preseason, as we both know.
do WE really HAVE AN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN NAMED “HOLDEN?”
and right on cue, holden gets a holding call against him
LOL at both Old Dolfan and Naples!!! 😀
Yikes!
Not a bad first PS game. You see the rust and first time from both teams. But both teams are competing and getting into football shape. I’m enjoying it. It’s a new era for us Phins fans.
I think it’s pretty clear that running the ball will not be scarce under Flores. 🙂
That was really awful.
Bad read. If the 1st guy didn’t pick it, the 2nd might have.
Rosen throws a pick cuz he didn’t see the LB cheating.
Tannehill just threw a ‘hospital ball’ to one of his receivers. I’m surprised the receiver didn’t break his neck.
Oline
Rosen has looked tough and more athletic than reported and he made one bad mistake.
I think we all see that our OL has work to do but starters have not been a big part of tonight.
Mills with another hold at LT.
more terrible OL play by Mills. The rusher just ran right past him.
Tannehill with a 2nd TD to a TE!!! WOW!!!
Already matched his Dolphins total in his 1st preseason game with the Titans! lol
One can’t make this stuff up, buddy! It’s actually happened! 😀
I’m not impressed with Jomal Willt either.
Tannehill actually has some protection with the Titans’ O-Line, though he repeats mistakes being he’s haunted by footsteps in his head from his days in Miami. Still, he’s doing ‘alright’ (again, protective O-Line).
Rosen? He’s going to end up like Tannehill with DCS* if his O-Line continues to fail him.
missed tackles
Minkah looks bad tonight.
I WONDER HOW MANY MIAMI O-LINEMEN will have earned their walking papers by the end of tonight’s game??? I’m NOT “HOLDEN” my breath.
Okay… 1:11 left go for it like it’s the game.
van ginkel looked weak trying to fill the hole on the goal line and also Armstrong.
There have been 2 or 3 returns that Ford was so close to getting some good yardage but just couldn’t get there. Grant would have picked up some more.
Williams!!
Preston Williams… MAN! That guy is PLAYING! I hope he makes our 53.
Rosen with a perfect pass and a beautiful catch by Preston Williamsfor 30 yards.
I said months ago, watch Titans QB go down with injury again and they win with T-hill.
Rosen with a 17 yard throw to the sideline catch by brice Butler.
then another great throw to preston williams but they called it out of bounds but that was a catch.
Nice to hear Williams is lighting it up in practice then see him show up in the game!
Preston Williams was a steal !! He catches everything and is tough to cover. He drew 2 PI’s on that TD drive. Only one taken since he dove and caught it on one of the penalties.
YAY!!! PRESTON!!!
and they change it to a first and goal at the 6
ugh
false start at the 6 man c’mon
yikes rosen scrambles but doesn’t get in so he has to spike it and we kick the FG
Rosen looked awesom with 1:11
Well that’s actually points off the 2 minute drill!
Nobody in the booth knew how Coach D was available for Miami to hire.
nice drive with Rosen to Preston
M13, Tannehill? Why? How about our team? LOL
Why not both? lol, I’ll admit to being curious how Tanny does this year.
Rosen’s passes were almost all pin point accurate.
Even the INT was thrown right to the man LOL
at least the 50% he completed were……
Good 1st half, lots of things to build with and learn from, and Rosen certainly has a live arm. Now, PROTECT our QBs, and help to spring the duo of Drake and Ballage. It’s all about the O-Line at this point, IMO.
AUDI
GO PHINS!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
Preston will be on the 53. He’s the add to or replacement with Parker. He’s too good to cut as a UDFA. He’s been doing this since OTAs.
NEED to grab some beauty rest. Got two more cancer-related appointments in the next few days. Then I’m off to another convention. Y’all root the Fins to a win tonight.
This old man is out.
Preston seems to be a gem
Nice run
Walton looks like a pro.
Rosen looks pretty sharp to me. One bad read, and a series where he got no time, but with time he has been effective.
excellent throw by Rosen to Hurns I think.
This Williams guy is SHOWING UP!
now Rosen to Butler for 6 more.
Williams is a stud
Holy Shit Williams just out leapt 2 guys for 27 more yards. Another perfect throw by Rosen.
Yesss!
You guys really think Preston makes it😏
And there now the FB blocks on the corner and Walton goes in untouched.
FULL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
williams is awesome
So far Preston Williams looks exactly like what we want Devante Parker to be.
we have cox
I bet you had a lot for your birthday
Harris holds the edge on a run play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the swarming D
It’s not as effective as I would like yet, but it is definitely 11 guys running to the ball
#73 Hendrix looks good
Tom Garfinkel is making a great set of statements about bringing people together. He listed all the great things Steve Ross has done. Impressive.
Yes he said it well
Hendrix another good play causes a fumble
I think we look like a Super Bowl team already
Looks good
Through no fault of his own and only out of true Dolphins devotion I would be much more comfortable with Rosen if I could punch him in the face one time. Keeping it real…
I was vehemently against bringing him in because he does need a good quick jab to the face. I just can’t see him being the ‘face’ of the Dolphins, but that ship has sailed, lol. Have to support the kid now.
Laird runs tough.
Rosen throws a rope to the sideline. Butler catches it.
Now Laird scampers throw a nice hole for a big run.
The ball comes out
The fucking ball comes out
It’s glorious
A Seam pass to a TE!??? NICE!
Isiah Prince buries his man and Rosen makes a nice throw to Butler for another nice chunk.
Rosen throwing darts.
Rosen 21 yardds to the TE whatttt??????
Rosen’s passes look good.
Nice seam pass!

Yeah, I have had a lot since I was born. You could see it through my pants at D&B? I didn’t realize you were a crotch watcher.
Lol you wish
5 penalties through 3 quarters. 1st preseason game, mostly 2nd string and beyond. It’s a good sign, even with the bad penalty near the end of the 1st half. Atlanta has 10, and for some perspective, the Pets have 9 through 3+ quarters.

PHRASING! you cursed Hurns
Hulu live despite me getting locals wasn’t showing the game even though it is on local ABC. I pulled an antenna out of my ass (basically) from this little 9” tv I have that’s digital and it works on my bigger tv. Lol beautiful!
Coach is gonna run your gut’s out!
You guys miss out on all the really bad local commercials we are treated with during pre-season
I’m getting them on the firstrowsports feed. I’m pretty sick of hearing about Sleep numbers, lol
Hurns fumbled at the 14. Cut him.
Ugh, horrible TO. Taking points off the board.
This is a good PS game one. Lots of good looks for players who will play roles on this team or not. LOL
Gaskin looks shaky.
Kyler
Gaskin for a friend, does 37 look like an NFL back?
Ruduck looks really good too. I think I like this offense
