We have X on one side, that much is a given. The way the Dolphins have chosen to finish the equation is X + R = CB Bliss. It’s actually a big risk. Rowe has been a part time player for the first 4 years of his career. He was drafted in the 2nd RD in 2015 by the Philadelphia Eagles. Rowe played in all 16 games for the Eagles in his rookie year, starting 5. New England was in need of a CB in 2016 and sent a conditional 4th RD pick in 2018, which at best could have turned into a 3rd RD pick if performance measures were met. Why did Philly give up on their guy so quickly, so much so that they had to wait 2 years to get compensation back for him? Very odd.
At the NFL combine, Rowe was a monster. He ran 4.45 at 6’1 205, a 3.97 20 YD shuttle which is super quick for a guy that size, a 6.70 cone drill which shows elite agility and a 39″ vertical which shows elite explosion.. Maybe that’s why Philly took him in the 2nd RD, he Mike Mamula’d them. They pretty much gave up on the guy after one season.
Rowe started only 12 games in 3 seasons for the Patriots and played in 21 games. I’m not saying Eric Rowe can’t be the guy, but so far 2 teams, and make that 2 very solid organizations like the Eagles and Patriots can’t find a way to get this guy to work, it’s a little disconcerting. He has played well in practice and looked good in the preseason so far, but it just shows how poor our quality depth is at CB at the moment after Xavien Howard. Cornell Armstrong, Jalen Davis, Chris Lammons, Cordrea Tankersley and David Rivers. Chris Lammons has flashed some but is anyone here confident that he can handle the pressure of being picked on constantly as teams avoid throwing to the side X is on? That’s a lot to handle.
Some guys develop late, some guys just need the right opportunity to shine. It looks like Rowe is going to be given every opportunity and more to seize the job opposite X so it won’t be for a lack of chances that he doesn’t succeed here. Eric Rowe was a starter at CB in college at Utah. Who was that big Utah CB we had here that everyone loved? Was it Sun Sentinel, er Sean Smith? Smith was a lightning rod. Some hated him, some defended him. My recollection is I was a Sean Smith sympathizer. I thought he was unfairly treated by the haters although he was never a great player for us. He was at the very least a serviceable player for us. Smith started 56 games in 4 seasons for us. Can Rowe give us anything like that? The SS haters will hate this statement, but if Rowe can be as good as Sean Smith, I think we’ve done well.

we should NOT trade for clowney
the guy is injury prone and we would have to pay his franchise tag, thats way too much money for a guy that will deplete the first aid cabinet
but if houston was dumb enough to take Parker and HArris of our hands, 2 first round busts, we should consider that
those guys were horrible selections when much better players were available
we value picks and try to stockpile them, but that is only half the battle at best
we have to select guys with talent that can help the Dolphins win, and develop and retain them
a guy like Tunsil is an excellent example of what to do with the first round pick
the emphasis now should be to retain Tunsil, ink him up,
we cant expose our QB to blindside pressure if some bum is in there and Tunsil isnt
Clooney hasn’t signed his franchise tag, which means the new team will sign him to a new contract, unless he signs the franchise first, unlikely. He can also pick his team, which shouldn’t be us, since he likely wants to win now. You never know though, if money is more important.
Looks like George has some pull with spell check😉
Cory Ganer is getting his start at center for the U tonight
Best of luck to one of our guys we have known since peewee days
A stoneman Douglas alum
that must be very exciting for him and his family, its quite an accomplishment when a local area high school kid is now going to be a starter for the canes, i hope the kid does very well !
its also a good story, inspirational, for a high school that could really use some of that
Eric rowe was targeted in the game as many times as Ferris Bueller missed school.
Gaynor
Damn auto lol
His older brother Chris played for the horned toads and went UDFA to the rams,
but I think his conditioning is poor.
———————————————-
Vincent Taylor does look chunky compared to last year. Must have went to the Ryan Fitzpatrick off-season camp. lol
Damn, don’t have ESPN. Boss made cutbacks and only have antenna. Says we are not paid to watch TV. What kind of shit is that. LOL
Our FO has a clue, if they’re really talking with teams about trading Kiko, Jones and Stills. When not? We aren’t doing anything this year, might as well dangle them and try to get top value. If you don’t get a good offer keep them. WR, Safety and LB have plenty of depth.
😡Brady, if we get 🤡
🤪Brady after we get 🤡
No this is Brady after Clowney:

Once it was decided that this team was going to start over and build it from the ground up the right way with new people in charge, everything is on the table. The team will compete and play hard this season but long term goals are definitely in play. So as a fan I wouldn’t get too concerned about this or that. The expectations for success isn’t high as we all know.
David, Clowney’s injuries was mainly a specific one at the start of his NFL career. Since then he’s only missed 4 games the last 3 seasons and has made the pro bowl all 3. He’s only 26 years old and a top shelf edge guy who can play the run and rush the passer. He’ll play 4 more seasons before he’s even 30 so yes he’s worth acquiring for any team. The NFL is about acquiring talent, there is no specific rule how you do that.
I was aware he missed 2 years, but he sure seemed to turn it in afterwards.
Yes, if he is healthy he is a pro bowler, elite defender
This UM game is painful to watch. FN announcers saying, well 3 guys on the OL plus the QB are all starting their 1st games, after 3 pre snap penalties when starting at their 7. TNT man, any idiot can figure out how to remember the snap count.
Clowney can be elite when he is healthy
He is a once in a generational type talent and can make tackles and sacks for loss constantly.
He has excellent swim moves, uses hand separation so he doesn’t get stuck to the LT, and has great quickness
Yep! Only missed 4 games in his last 48. I’m sure he’d prefer to go a team contending for a championship but he doesn’t control the best deal HOU receives if they are looking to move him.
Oh
Stanger, I think X is the new Revis except he’s on our team. Been saying that for two years now. 🙂
To me Revis is the best CB of the last 20 years. They’d just put him on a guy like Megatron and say don’t expect any help…. have fun. Hope you are right.
Once Howard realized film study was key to becoming a great player and not just his physical skills, his play went to another level. That’s why the team gave him his new deal. They saw it too.
Felipe Tannehill for the Gators
Dlox, that’s cool about Gaynor best of luck to him
Watching all 3 of our QBs play reminds me of how bad RTs pocket pressence was.
Yeah he was terrible
Everyone forgets how well our Defense started out last year. They were good and we’re getting a lot of turnovers. But Tannehill could only muster a mere 15 points a game.
Tannehill is like a country song for some of you, you just can’t move on. LOL

At this point I would consider offers for every / any player on our roster. If the offer were right
Clowney can also play up and down the defensive front which, I assume, would make him even more valuable in a defense like we are said to be running. Plus, I still don’t trust Harris, so we have zero edge presence. Getting him would be huge. I just find it hard to believe Houston would let him go….or let him go for less than a King’s ransom.
Andrew Luck retiring??
Did I read that right? Andrew luck retires…..
Just flashed at the bottom of my TV
Wow.
The Colts are phucked
Trade Fitz to Indy?
First thought that popped in my head , well 2nd after will son now be a Colts Fan 🤔🤡
Oh wait Indy has Brissett, at least it’s not Painter. Good opportunity for Brissett.
I was about to remind you on above that they have a Brisket marinating for this purpose
Lol
Why did Andrew Luck wait until August to announce that?
That’s kind of a dick move
I think he was recovering from injury #1, and suffered injury #2 type deal… I can see this being a one year retirement
Maybe he just no came to the fact he couldn’t continue. Sounds like he has been trying to push on and is worn down mentally
At least Ricky didn’t go through camp
Maybe he realized he just can’t keep doing this. I don’t think he meant to be a dick. He almost died with a lacerated spleen a couple of years ago.
He tried to make it work. Must’ve realized he wasn’t going to start the season and just said F it, can’t take anymore. He may come back later, 2020, 2021…
^^ zactly what I think
D,
Don’t they still have Brissett? He’s a pretty decent QB. What a gut punch to Indy though.
OMG the refs just gave Miami a TD
Wah🤣
Toba, no more marinating that Brisket is going in the smoker
Lol , outta the frying pan into the fire
Dear football Gods,
Please don’t ever let Felipe Franks be the Dolphins QB.
Thanks, son
I like him, think he’s going to be great.
Yeah he sucks.
Every year he starts off horrible and then seems to warm up. Kinda like Tanny use to always do to us
That’s his best throw, the deep seam. Other passed not so much
Lol figures a beautiful deep ball
I feel so bad for Andrew Luck.
He should sue the GM who never got him any linemen.
Poor kid literally has been beaten to within an inch of his life.
I heard where a lot of the DL guys felt bad about sacking him
because he was such a nice guy about it.
That’s my boy
Wtf Franks
William’s has Tanny pocket pressence.
He’s horrible …he had time and has no idea what’s going on around him
This is the stupid mistakes bowl
So Houston just probably lost Lamar for the year. They did sign that Duke guy who was unhappy in Cleveland, but what if we sent them Stills, Parker, and RB Mark Walton for Clowney? Maybe throw in Ledbetter as a young replacement DE. That would solve a lot of our problems and be what they need.
I do NOT want to give them any of our draft picks.
Let’s add Jones, Kiko, Minkah, and Tunsil…
No, I like those guys.
We have other players to make up for losing the ones I mentioned.
William’s is clueless
Gators with PI on every play
Wasn’t pretty but it’s a win
Well so much for suck for Luck
So the best QB of the 2013 draft is…..
Wilson
Wasn’t he 2014? But you get my point
R igh T. ??
Yep
The #Colts have known that QB Andrew Luck was seriously mulling retiring for at least two weeks. He’s married, he plans to travel the world, and once the love for the game waned, it sounds like he wanted to step away. So, he did.
So apparently they announced Lucks retirement at the game , and fans booed him off the field. Some even taking off and tossing his jerseys away
Sounds like some Miami fans I know
People are jerks these days.
People in Indianapolis I meant, not Canada.
People in Canada are Jerks too don’t worry .. some would say I am 🤔😱…. I took it as a general statement not directed anywhere specific
Think back to Rickey retiring about same point of season… LOTS of us fans were pissed at him then .. we then instantly fell in love again when he came back. We are a fickle bunch and all have a bit of asshole in us or anus .. 🤡
Not everybody forgave Ricky!
LOL… thanks would have never known.
So now the Colts get to tank for Tua
I feel bad for Luck and never wished him ill, but I’m glad Indy got what they deserved with him after the BS they pulled to get him.
I’m torn on the possibility of trading for Clowney. With the way our secondary and LBs are progressing, a player like Clowney might make this defense a top flight defense THIS year (am I drinking too much koolaid?) But we’re rebuilding, and I like the way we’ve gone about it. Do we want to trade draft pick(s) and sign him to a 20+ mil yr contract? We have been burnt so many times in the recent past with these big contracts.
If we can get him for a mid rd pick and a player or two like Jones or Alonso, then maybe we get him for a one year franchise tag rental which we can afford to do and doesn’t obligate us beyond this year. We get to see what this defense can look like with him, and possibly work out a contract during the year if it looks like the right fit. Just throwing out ideas.
all of that is good except for the draft pick
but i guess we can spare a 4th rounder if that would make the deal work.
We could keep him a year and let him walk and recoup the pick in compensatory.
Don’t we play Indy this year?
I think we can beat them with Brissett, although he beat us when he was with NE.
Yeah , he should thank US for the contract Indy gave him , as it was basically based on the one game he played against us before we injured him 🤯
Clowney has not signed his franchise tag.. he won’t sign a one year deal to be traded .. he will have to pre negotiate his contract with any team they can make a trade deal with …
In this scenario you would THINK the trade compensation would be slightly less than as if he were under contract.. not a bunch less, but some I would think
He refused to sign his tender with Houston. It’s possible he could sign it with a team he gets traded to.
But yeah, if is all about the conract for him, then my scenario doesn’t work.
**correction** He actually has to sign the tender before the trade. Obviously he can say he’ll only sign it once he has a long term contract worked out with the team he is traded to.
Basically amounts to the same thing yes
No trades build through the draft. I like Clowney but not worth the investment imo. We are not 1 player away
Id be fine if it was a player for player ( not Tunsil) and a swapping of our second rd for their third or something along those lines ..
No team is getting Clowney on the cheap. He wouldn’t be traded if that was the case.
Cheap ER 😊 not cheap
Not sure what that means?
What is ‘on the cheap’? Minimum 1st rd pick?
I worded that poorly. I mean what would not ‘on the cheap’ mean? Min. 1st rd pick.
Clowney probably is aquired in trade for a lot less than you would expect. He is on a FT which means he has a large guaranteed contract and it’s pretty much a rental unless we pony up a lot to extend him which means you aren’t giving up a lot of draft capital for him. He is a young player at the top of his game and a top talent so it’s going to cost us something but I’m expecting that it might not be number one picks
And I believe it would position Houston for a 3rd round comp pick already two years down the road .. needless to say more forces factor into that as well
He won’t be cheap no matter the trade amount, since we will have to likely part with a player in return. I would trade Stills and Alonzo to Washington for Trent Williams and then trade Williams to Houston for clowney
Is Williams not in the same FT holdout ??
A team has to be all in on him. He fits what we’re doing on defense though as an edge DE/OLB. Once again a proven elite edge guy at 26 years old. They don’t grow on trees. 😉
We won’t have to pay a QB big money anytime soon. Think about it like that.
Then there’s that as well 🤔👍😊
I did watch some of the Texans game and a lot of what they talked about was OL needs based in last year performance . they also did mention SOME of their OL issues were attributed to watson holding ball way too long
Based on our defence looks so far we may not even be in serious need .. we look swarming , quick to ball and very improved at tackling and discipline.. time will tell very soon from the sounds of things
Interesting: Luck’s dad Oliver is CEO and Commissioner of the XFL..
former NFL QB for Houston right? Oilers
Yes correct
good morning clowneys
i bet frank reich isnt happy with lucks decision.
i listened to Luck on his exit presser or whatever they called it
he made a compelling case, of walking away while he still can
we all love football, but no one can deny its a dangerous sport, that can cripple and maim the players
Luck has enough money to retire, and he still has some health. he has had some tough hits to the head and other assorted injuries, and he came to a tough decision
maybe it would be tougher to understand for Colts fans, because the aquired Luck the wrong way and probably want luck until he is no good, then they get to run him off, typical
a man has to do what is best for his own health, and for his family, and i believe Luck did that
will he be back, of course!, hes married, lol
wifey will start saying oh,, the money is going away and i needed a few more coach purses and was eyeing a new 24 bedroom 16 bath house down the block
he will think for a brief second of employment on the outside, then remember he is only 30, and nobody in the working world will pay what Indy does
I’d bet she’s the one behind the retirement.
i wont bet against You, im thinking the same thing
i think sam equavion has beat out kiko alonso, not sure he’ll be with the team come sept 8th
Real fans would support his decision. Decent people want the best for others and they know theres more important things than football or championships.
spoken like a true dolphin fan.
tunsil isnt going anywhere
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-dolphins-turned-down-trade-144134191.html
Good, cause it didn’t make sense to me in the first place. LOL
I knew it
I didn’t even buy his jersey. I figured he would play here at least a little longer
Cav, Cubs are shitting the bed Fred like I thought they would this time of year. Cards are hot like they always are this time of year. Cubs got the Mets and Cards-Brewers this week. Will be interesting.
Eagles trade Nate Sudfeld to Colts. Sudfeld returns home to Indiana. Palyed at IU.
Bleacher Report breakout performers:
Based on the buzz out of training camp and his performances during the preseason, linebacker Sam Eguavoen could push a veteran out of a roster spot. According Barry Jackson of Miami Herald, the 2015 undrafted linebacker out of Texas Tech, who spent three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League, could significantly impact the veterans at the position.
“Sam Eguavoen’s emergence and Jerome Baker’s evolution—and the fact Miami is expected to play three linebackers less than half the time—have left Kiko Alonso and Raekwon McMillan in a tenuous position,” Jackson wrote. “McMillan obviously is not going to be released, but his playing time likely will be impacted.”
Eguavoen has flashed all over the field, making several stops in each of three preseason outings. He also forced a fumble on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ second offensive drive last weekend. He’s not at his best in coverage, but he will help patch up the Dolphins run defense, which ranked 31st last year.
At 6’0″, 236 pounds, Eguavoen can move in space—field awareness will play a part in his development as a pass defender on 3rd-and-long situations. He got a late start to his NFL career, but the 26-year-old has the tools to become a mainstay in the middle of the Dolphins defense.
2019 Projection: 56 solo tackles, 3 PD, 2 FF
Good post, but out of curiosity, did You think Sam was offsides on that play he got flagged, or did he time it perfectly and the refs just blew it?
I’m biased, and would prefer to say he timed it perfectly, but I watched it a couple times and honestly didn’t think he was offsides, Very close, but not quite
I think they called neutral zone infraction, but to me that’s the same as offsides
It was a bad call.
Yep, bad call.
He’s not at his best in coverage, but he will help patch up the Dolphins run defense, which ranked 31st last year.
I believe he is, and many reports quoting him have mentioned the benefit of playing in the CFL was they pass on most downs, so he’s developed skills for defending the pass.
He is no worse than Kiko in coverage for sure.
It’s always a good thing when you can get better and cheaper at a position. Letting Kiko go should be a no brainer, as long as there’s a savings vs replacement, and I think there is.
Forget about cap hit look at straight savings of what Kiko costs vs the last LB we keep and not Sam.
Teams are starting to trade players before cutting rosters. Wonder if we will be in the mix? Parker, Alonso, Jones, Stills maybe. I don’t see Houston trading for a RB as there be numerous available after cuts. Going to be a crazy interesting week.
Hope we would be able to trade Kiko and not just cut him.
Russell Wilson was 2013 Ken
I guess now he gets the crown of the best in 2013
RG3 is probably the worst
I guess tannehill has a shot at being the best QB of 2013
It’s only a matter of time before Mariotta is hurt…lol
Mariotta/Winston was all a pretty bad draft
Omg! Mexican chicks are smokin!
Suck bc of Luck starts today
Fully expect the Colts to intentionally have the worst record in the nfl now

Where? I can’t see him???
LMAO. Good Luck Bad Luck
That’s why you don’t draft until after the last preseason game.
Listen to the boos, unbelievable. I’m now thinking when Luck returns next year, it WONT be with Indy.
And agree with piggy, the colts are the worst Or one of the worst teams now
Brisket, didnYou see this? you are next
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/andrew-luck-retires-appears-to-be-savagely-booed-by-colts-fans-in-indy-after-stunning-news-breaks-during-game/
He doesn’t have a choice, unless he plays that force out game, but I don’t see him being that type of asshole…
Colts fans will BBQ brisket, smoke em and toss him in the garbage when he gets overcooked
He’s the key to the D, if he plays pretty good, then it opens up everything we can do. You wanna blitz both outside receivers are covered that leaves the middle and check downs. Would be nice too for cover zero when we really need a stop.
Don’t burn your bridges, until you’re positive you don’t ever want a return.
Exactly, the colts fans will have no one to blame but themselves , if Luck returns to a different team
Phinphinatic says we should trade Drake to Houston in a package deal to get Clowney. I see the logic, if we aren’t going to rs-sign him. That would leave Ballage, Walton, Gaskins and Laird, who the team likes.
I’d really like to see Drake used in his proper role as a 3rd down back, he may be the best pass catching RB in the league. At least keep him one more year.
Colts have not only burned the bridge, they dried up the river and Luck will never return to Indy
On colts .com, many fans are claiming Luck got a big contract in 2016, then barely Played, then retires and leaves the team hanging, etc
They are accusing him of getting the money and do nothing afterwards, a sandbagger.
Some other negative shit, but all in all, he needs to go somewhere else if he returns.
Which of course begs the next what if question, would the Dolphins be interested in Luck next year if he were available?
Luck remains the property of the Colts should he wish to revoke his retirement
thats a good point, so his best option would be to return and demand a trade, indy may be interested in getting something in a trade for losing Luck, so they may have interest in a deal for Luck
Okay Wilson is definitely the best QB of 2013 but RT has taken over the #2 spot
Mediocre is still mediocre whether it’s #2 or #3 or #4
We should all be estatic that the tannehill era is over in Miami
I will be ecstatic when we finally have someone better. Right now I am not convinced we do although Rosen may have the potential to be better. Fitzpatrick makes me want to puke
There’s only one way to improve on Tannehill – try somenone else
no news is good news for Rosen IMO
vegas is scrambling to play catchup to Lucks retirement,,,
The Circa Sportsbook at the Golden Gate in Las Vegas immediately pulled the Indianapolis/Los Angeles Chargers Week 1 game that had the Charges favored by four. Circa later reopened that game to bettors at Los Angeles -6 and as of late Saturday night, had Los Angles at -7 with an over/under of 45.5. Circa listed the money line for the favorite in that game at -320, meaning a bettor need to lay $320 on the Chargers to win $100.
Steve, We were right, it’s lucks wife
Breaking news today, she’s pregnant with their first child!
https://heavy.com/sports/2019/08/andrew-luck-wife-nicole-pechanec-married/
They mentioned that last night, also that he just got married this off season … so yeah same thoughts went through my mind .. she’s driving the bus
My nephew texted me last night that Luck retired. That’s some shit right there. I get it, the guy can’t seem to get healthy, and he would like to have some quality of life after football. Since they make more in a day than we make in a lifetime, it’s easy to make that call. He can always change his mind if he gets healthy and wants to play again.
Steve: Texans broadcast team described Duke Johnson the same way Orob describes Drake , and that they need an inside the tackles bruiser to augment what Johnson does … not I ever considered Miller a Bruiser.. I more remember him as a pauser , dancer behind the line looking for holes
That’s a shame, I like Kiko. He’s been a good player for us. Doesn’t really make sense regarding cap savings either. At some point we’ll probably have an injury and wish we had him.
He’s not cut!
Just another reporter being a douche bag! 😉
Drake is on that same list of 5 too. $2 mil in cap savings on a Kiko cut. Only reason to cut is cause want to work with the LBs for the future, but that is a reason.
I don’t blame him, This business sucks!
This was supposed to be the year the Colts were ready to break out. I smell a QB trade coming, but think they will be looking for someone better than Fitz. That’s hard to get though.
Everyone talks about Fitz always being the QB he was last year, either hot or cold, but how soon they forget how good he was that first year with the jets.
Wyo – Sometimes where there’s smoke there’s fire. I hope it is just reporter douchebaggery. I don’t think Kiko should be cut. He played great for us last season, he’s a high motor guy that always gives his all. If they decide not re-sign him that’s a different story, but he should play out his contract or they should trade him.
I can’t see Flores giving anything out to leak!
They are tight lipped as the Patriots!
No, they just put 2 and 2 together, and come to the obvious conclusion, based on everything they’ve heard.
i wonder if the colts would trade Quenton Nelson for Rosen?
Lol
It’s official!
Steve they don’t even have numbers to start with!
It’s just speculating like we do!
The FO and coaches tell these reporters things, such as teams are asking about trading for Kiko, Jones…these same reporters watch practice, and the games and see what guys are standing out, E, then speculate based on what they’ve seen and heard.
