There’s hope. While there are many things compromised by the deep roster purge, there are glimmers of hope. The first half of this game it wasn’t that obvious which team had just emptied its roster and which team was probably a contender to be the best team in their conference. The Miami Dolphins actually had an edge in T.O.P. in the first half, 16:11 to 13:49. The first drive looked nice yet K Jason Sanders failed to convert the FG to give the Dolphins their first lead of the season. Despite the fact that we didn’t score, it was evident this team had a different feel with QB Josh Rosen at the helm instead of Ryan Fitzpatrick. There was confidence, aggressiveness, and in general there was life in this offense.
The defense wasn’t especially strong, but in the first half they were in the game. There’s still no pass rush, and we don’t look great against the run, but the Cowboys high powered offense was held in check in the first half. You want depressing? This kills me by the way. I know it’s early in the season, but here are the 3 sack leaders on our team. All newcomers, John Jenkins, Vince Biegel and now Taco Charlton who has played only one game are all tied with a grand total of 1 sack! Not one Dolphins defender who was here last year or longer has a sack. That’s ugly. I guess I was wrong about Taco, he’s better than what we got (Ugh!).
DeVante Parker still remains the enigma he’s always been. He’ll make the wonderful contested catch with a very low chance of success, and then run an easy crossing route with no defender within 5 yards and allow an easy floater to go right through his hands. That could have been a TD. Preston Williams seems to have passed him on the reliability chart and it seems that Rosen and Williams have good rhythm between them. Jakeem Grant was extremely amped up to play in front of his home crowd in Texas and his hands were even more amped up, dropping not only another punt but a couple of passes too. How much longer does Grant get to field punts? That should be a legitimate question.
It’s only 3 games, but I can’t think of one guy on our defense who has been impressive. What happened to our LB’s Jerome Baker and Raekwon McMillan? They have been quieted to the point you forget they’re there. Sam Eguavoen who made lots of noise in preseason has come back down to earth. Yesterday was different, the Cowboys made our best defender Xavien Howard look like Eric Rowe for a game. They picked on X all game and were successful doing so. This is one X would like to forget, but I’m sure Rowe was thankful to have the pressure off him for 1 week. To be fair, Eguavoen led the team in tackles yesterday, but there hasn’t been an impact play all season. I’m wondering if Christian Wilkins blew his load trying to body bump Roger Goodell at the draft because he hasn’t been seen nor heard from since. It’s still early though so I’m far from panicking about him. Charles Harris though, oh boy . . .
I laugh to think how many discussions we’ve had here about which RB is better suited to be the feature back here in MIA. I’m pretty sure after 3 games that we haven’t seen him get regular playing time, because it’s clearly not either Kenyan Drake or Kalen Ballage. While Drake has the runaway speed he’s too much of a finesse runner. While Ballage has the size he’s too much Sta Puft for me. He goes down as soon as he sees the graham crackers coming. Also, both are supposed to be good receivers out of the backfield and this season they just keep dropping the ball. I think it’s just a matter of time before we see more of Mark Walton and Myles Gaskin. We’ve also been economical with our use of FB Chandler Cox and I’d like to see that change too.
Rosen is the reason. If you’re tuning in this year, you’re probably watching to see how the young QB fares, or you’re a masochist, either one. I think he brings lots of promise. I’m not sure if he can be an elite QB but he looks like he belongs on the playing field and his arm talent might be the best since good ole Danny boy. Granted, that isn’t saying all that much, you’ve seen the list of QB’s that have been here since ’99, it’s fugly! I said I wanted improvement every week, and although on the scoreboard it was just a tiny increment better, I know we were competitive, we could have been ahead. The 2nd half things unraveled, but when you’re looking for positives, you have to take them where you can find them. Maybe by season’s end we can put 2 halves together and play a solid game the whole way.
GO DOLPHINS!!
#staythecourse

David, Minkah wanted out. He didn’t like the way he was used last year either. He wasn’t mismanaged he was disgruntled about being a Swiss Army knife even though his talents lead two coaching staffs using him that way. Also wasn’t Minkah on the team and playing in the first two blowouts?
Tunsil is a quality young LT but notice the moment we traded him the narrative became he’s a top 3 LT even though he never made all-pro or a pro bowl.
This current front office and coaching staff was not part of the past other than Grier that now fans want to act like he was the problem all along even though he was here when we drafted Tunsil or Minkah. It’s all about changing the narrative to what you want it to be.
Grier with Ross’ blessing laid out the plan back when he was promoted to top football czar after Tannenbaum and Gase were fired. Now everyone is all up and arms about what starting over looks like. It really doesn’t matter what they do, whatever they do will be met with criticism until we’re a top team again. Were we on a path to being that at the end of the 2018 season?
in 2018 we beat the patriots,
2019? we looked like speed bumps
drastic difference
ive always been competitive in sports, and want to win,
and yes Minkah did play the games when Fitzpatrick was doing everything he could to turn the ball over and fail to move the team
sometimes Minkah played LB in the box when FItz was serving up a couple of pick sixes, we were not competitive
the Dolphins should have never started Fitzpatrick because he is horrible, AND Rpsen won the job
that is inexcusable IMO, start the first stringers, period
Fitz is NOT the first string QB, hes obviously not capable of starting, and it was obvious BEFORE game one
Rosen WON the starting position in preseason, but starting Fitz was confirmation the tank was in, IF there was any doubt before
.
No he didn’t homer
That’s why he didn’t start. He couldn’t call the Mike until recently and he is still struggling with it.
we can agree to disagree
Rosen was calling the Mike in preseason
what difference does calling the mike make when Fitz is tossing pick sixes?
its fantastic Fitz can do it, too bad he cant pass to OUR players
I’d love for someone to go up to Flores and tell him he’s trying to lose….
LOL He looks like he could suit up and play still. I saw him at the team hotel and was like damn that’s him isn’t it? My super was like yeah he looks like a player.
i would love for Flores to start the starters, and put them into position to make plays.
thats pretty much what NFL coaches do, ,when they want to be successful
Fitz will NEVER win a game in Miami, NEVER, hes an interception machine, and Flores should have known that
any QB that cant move the team, and cant protect the ball, should not have started
I am so conflicted. I agree with BOTH Tim and David above.
Tim, I AM THE ONE who was screaming for it to be blown up. I agree with David that they didn’t blow it up enough. (even though Denney is finally gone, winkey eye) Grier has been part of the staff that has failed to consistently find quality players in the draft for decades. (Perhaps only 3 years as GM)
Right so replace Grier as well with who and all the magic will really happen? It’s getting a really nuts now. Grier was the guy who was known in the building as the one saying we’re going about this all wrong. He ran the scouting dept. and ran the draft board but he did not have final say over Tannebaum and Gase. We all know that now.
from Wingfield:
Believe it or not, it’s possible for individuals to have good days despite the team stat sheet — Christian Wilkins was one of them. Miami’s first-round pick led the team in pressures with three, and he made four tackles, two of those qualifying as run stops. The big fella added two more assists and didn’t miss any tackles.
Davon Godchaux was almost as good. In addition to his lone pressure in the passing game, Godchaux made four tackles and one of those good for a run stop.
Bobby McCain earned the team’s highest coverage grade. His picked off his lone target and joined Johnson Bademosi and Eric Rowe as players with above average grades via PFF. Rowe allowed only one of his four targets to be completed and Bademosi allowed three yards on one-of-two passing.
Sam Eguavoen had his best day as a pro. He missed one of his nine tackle opportunities, but he’s still not getting it done in coverage — Dallas completed all three targets on him.
Raekwon McMillan continues to quietly get the job done in a limited role. He made all three of his tackle opportunities (one for a run stop) and put a pressure on the QB.
Tim, do You think FLores should have challenged that TD catch by Preston WIlliams that was not called a catch?
it looked like Williams had it clean for two steps
It was questionable and my friend who I was watching the game with said nope he lost control of the ball because receivers have to do multiple unknown things for it to be a TD catch. I said to him back in the day that’s a TD. I thought it was a TD but the rules are so ambiguous these days. So you think that was a tank call and all the other stuff I pointed out doesn’t count?
no, i was just asking if You think Flores should have tossed the flag on it? wouldnt most coaches toss the red flag on a two step possession in the end zone?
if it was questionable, throw the flag, timeouts aint shit, TD is 6 points
i dont think everything is a total tank, just starting FItz was
i think Flores just fucked up Rosens TD pass by not throwing a piece of fabric, even if we lost a TO, so what? TO doesnt win games, TD does
For the fans of WOT:
I HATE that Amazon bought the rights but glad somebody is finally making it.
Rosen makes watching these games easier. For anyone who watched last night, the refs gave a college TD to Chicago because they are a PO caliber team. Williams TD looks so much more like a real TD but the NFL is trying their damnedest to muddy the rules for all calls so the fan has no clue what’s real and what isn’t. Easiest way to sell a product based more on gambling than competitive sports now. The refs were terrible and they made a terrible game even worse.
I think Miami has a chance for 4 wins this year. I also think Tua is the real deal but this may be the best QB class in 35 years. Burrow, Herbert, Tua, and Hurts all look amazing. Fromm looks solid but that win was very unconvincing last Saturday. Book, Ehlinger, and Eason all look solid. Of course the next year has Fields and Lawrence…a supposed cornucopia of talent coming out the next two drafts.
Ouh Vie!
Is that the way you say that?
Tim, remember when Shula started Woodley over Marino, lol he basically did the same thing, but Shula wasnt tanking, he just had a tradition of starting veterans over rookies
but if Marino had of started his rookie year, the killer bees were a year younger and its possible the Dolphins win the super bowl
Dolphins could have been i n the super bowl for 3 seasons in a row , 82-84, and Marino could have had his ring in 83
start the best qb, always
I’m not a fan of wanting to believe the NFL is fixed but that play in the Rams/Saints Championship game last year made me say wow just wow! When is that ever not PI? The NFL wanted the Rams in Super Bowl.
$ rules the NFL
Rock,
I am seriously amped up about the WOT series! They have already started principal filming. I don’t know any of the actors except for Moraine, but I know she will be fantastic. She’s too tall, but they can work around that, and she has the PERFECT cool demeanor that is such an integral part of the character.
I have zero faith the series will be any good, lol, I think it is likely to be more Shannara Chronicles bad than LOTR trilogy good. I don’t care at all. I’m just glad someone is trying to get it on the screen. I’ll go into it looking to love it.
Me too. I hated how MTV turned Shannara into a teen angst soap opera. It was MTV though. I didn’t like the Sword of Truth either. GOT did a pretty good job.
David, you can question Flores on that decision not to throw the flag. Maybe he’d like to have that one back. He said he didn’t feel it would be overturned. Was it mistake, maybe. But that’s one questionable decision.
The biggest disappointment to me in that game our best player Howard. He looked off from the get go. What was with our secondary passing on Cooper to the next guy who wasn’t there? More tanking I guess. LOL
the games i believe that were tanked were the first two, the third game the Fins needed to make more plays, and the plays they do make need to be backed up by the coach,
Flores made a mistake, he should have tossed the flag regardless if he thinks two steps possesion is enough or not
imagine if the refs overturned it, we never know, right? then Miami would have had its first lead of the season, and the mojo would have been completely different.
Flores has never been HC before, so I think he will make a mistake from time to time, but its also important to learn from mistakes, and next time toss the flag and risk that damn sacred timeout that we probably didnt even need, to try to get Miami its first lead of the year
David, saying the first two games were tanking really doesn’t add up. They made the switch to Rosen in game 3. Come on man, this team is rebuilding and trying to learn how to play with each other, and yes we lack talent in some key areas. It is what it is. Don’t kill yourself trying to overanalyze it.
Why are we also acquiring former 1st rd picks who’ve had slow starts to their careers? Because if they jump start their careers that helps with tanking? They are trying to rebuild with players that fit what they’re looking for and have talent. Trying to sign Flowers and trade for Clowney was also part of tanking? No they’re trying to REBUILD this team in their vision of what it’s suppose to look like. If a couple of things don’t work out you keep looking at how to improve.
You know what would be hilarious, that the PIT pick ends up being higher than ours. LOL
What doesn’t add up about Fitz, is not being able to move the team or protect the ball,
And yet Flores started the interception machine anyway.
Flores error or tank or whatever he did to start Fitz cost us 2 games,
and failing to toss the red flag on the Williams TD , cost Miami it’s first lead of the year.
Hopefully the light comes on for Flores, HC isn’t as easy as DC
Honestly guys
I was loosing my motivation to follow this team the last few years
I just haven’t been into it
I really didn’t like Gase early on, so that was part of it
But another part of it was the constant mediocrity
I love this reset
I love the idea of drafting a lot of players at one time to grow together and build a team with an identity
On Sunday I just laugh at the actual game
But my imagination goes crazy for the rest of the week about where this will go
I love this
I don’t know if it works to build a contender
But I love trying it
And for the life of me I can’t figure out why some people are griping about it

Rock,
If it’s anywhere near GOT quality, we should be happy. I can’t wait to see some of those opening scenes from EOTW played out on tv.
I got the first three books for Xmas 1991, and every new book released I reread the entire series over again before picking up the new book (plus I reread it multiple times in-between just because.) The last book released in 2013. It was quite literally a 22 year journey for me. I never expected anyone would try to adapt it for TV.
It’s like Xmas all over again for me. 🙂
Oh brother…..
Damn the Brewers are playing some good ball right now.
I’m in full agreement with you Piggy.
I am also full aware that no matter what some types of people just live to bitch. Nothing you can do about it.
Some people get up in the morning and try to step on a lego
LOL!
I see it alot in my line of work. You see them come in already looking to complain….. nothing you can do to make them happy.
Piggy, were going to see potentially 7 draftees in the first 3 rounds and probably 4-5 significant FAs in 2020. That’s 11 players that are viewed to make a difference. The 2020 team will look nothing like the 2019 team with the exception of some players who bought in and progressed individually this year. We have a good idea who they may be.
I would love it if we nab two pass rushers
Bulk up a little on OL and get a RB in the 2nd round who can carry us
I’m not hopeful that the WOT will translate well to a TV series. I’m one of the few who think TCOTC is a superior story to a lot of what is being made into shows, and I don’t see it making it as an episodic/movie, either.
Thomas Covenant? JMO (and these things are purely subjective, so not shitting on your opinion at all) but I’ve always considered the Covenant stories to be rather inferior to some of the top tier fantasy. I always have a hard time reading the first trilogy, the writing is so bad in Lord Foul’s Bane, and the Tolkien rip offs are ugh. The second book is more Tolkien, but better writing. 3rd book is a good cap.
The 2nd trilogy is a quality story. The sunbane is a great fantasy element done in a unique way. I love the bloodguard and the sandgorgon stuff is great.
I’ve never got around to reading the most recent books. I actually bought the 1st two books of the new series, but decided to read from the beginning, but I got bogged down in The Illearth War, stopped and never picked it back up. How would you rate them in comparison to the earlier stuff?
One of the best things about Covenant is he doesn’t follow standard hero or anti-hero tropes. He’s pretty fucking unlikable in the first series, lol, and the rape of Lena is really hard to cope with from your protagonist. But that does make him far more interesting than most.
If you think tanking is the agenda, why keep churning the roster, just stay bad. Not what they’re doing is it?
They are finding guys to begin the rebuild. It isnt hard to figure out.
I still think we see this team come together and play pretty decent towards the end of the year. Then everyone can bitch and moan they didnt get the first pick.
I continue to hear murmurs of Jim Harbaugh coming to Miami next year. For the record, I do NOT want him: he’s nuckin’ futs. However, we DO know that Steve Ross holds him in the highest of regards.
Time shall reveal…
I don’t see it. I believe what Ross said about committing to Flo and the rebuild under him
Agreed. He is Nuckin Futs!
Not going to happen. I’d be shocked! But very little shocks me anymore. LOL
From the great anointed ones?
Omar and Mondo?????? 😉

This wasn’t awful coverage he just go schooled on an improvised route run by Cooper. That would have been hard to defend for most anyone. Got away with a minor hold too.
Really off game for X.

Agree MF, I don’t think Harbaugh is the answer
He certain isn’t… but that’s just my $.02.
harbaugh doesn’t want to be here, and not sure he would have his heart into it,
when Ross is gone someday , we don’t need anyone Ross recommends , its best to just move forward with a clean slate, until then, Flores needs to work hard to improve
We can’t rule out that Flores does much better next year , and quiets any talk of other coaches
with a year of experience under his belt, and a boatload of talented rookies to work with. He probably will get some wins next year.
Next year should be alot more interesting than this one ,
i remember when OD took alot of heat from here, when he said that ireland needed to be fired before his last disaster of a top loaded draft,
im curious what OD thinks about this time, what do You think OD?

Try, read the series when it was relatively new ( early to mid 80s ) and do not remember it very well but I do remember that I did not like the crossover between the “real world” and the “Land”. In the second chronicles how bane could effect the real world from a he land really put me off. Plus I didn’t much like the portions of the story that were in the real world.
Also as Kong pointed out above he’s just not likable
Now in “the First Law”! Trilogy Joe Abercrombie also makes his characters very unlikable. Heck they are almost all villains but for some reason I still enjoyed reading that series. Maybe it’s just because I could not identify with a middle-aged writer in modern times who had leprosy.
That’s a great series.
miscommunication
Some weird trick play
every time You think You hate tennis, check this out ,,tennis is a great sport, lol
if You dont like Tennis, maybe Golf?

Tim,
You mention about 11 new possible game-changers next year. Which are the specific positions you think we most need to fix? For instance, how much of the OL would you try to get?
I would get about two OL in FA, a CB, and a WR at the very least. Get the cream of the these positions. Draft a QB, DE, and LT in the first. Maybe get a OG and WR in the 2nd. The key is really the OL. That’s just 5 positions unlike Chicago which needed an amazing defense to cover up their terrible QB. A solid OL turns Dak into a solid player until he got the time and help needed to excel.
Next year get another DE, and hopefully by the end of the 2021 draft we can draft just talent from there on out. It’s so hard to evaluate talent when there is so little here. It takes teamwork but if one cog can’t perform, then it hurts everyone.
if the Fins selected Tua and Jerry Jeudy, and brought in some OL and rb,
they would have an offense
, the draft is wide open, the team needs everything
Nice group
BTW i really like Jerry Jeudy, he is the kind of WR Miami desperately needs IMO
lmao, thats not him, hang on

That play above where the O line didn’t move was them sending a message to the QB. There is no other answer.
Rock,
I really enjoy The First Law series by Abercrombie. It’s such a good read, and even the characters that are written to be generally distasteful, such as Glokta, you can still get behind a lot of their actions. When I read that series I find myself rooting for Glotka and Bayaz more than most of the others.
One of my biggest problems with the Covenant series is the motivations behind his actions never make much sense to me, so it’s hard to relate to the character (which goes back to what you said about identifying with a middle aged writer with leprosy).
At the same time, that may be in part why Try appreciates the story, if he can identify with the character more than most who read the series can.
I would really like to see The First Law series made into a TV series as well. There isn’t much in the way of magic, and the story isn’t too convoluted. I would think it would translate pretty well.
I can’t stand Ferro though. I always root for her to be thrown into a meat grinder.
Is he striped?
*shakes head*
I have always liked Rosen’s potential….but potential needs to be replaced by results at some point. I don’t think we know what sort of QB and leader he will be yet. We need more data….or at least I do. He has the intelligence and arm skills. His movement skills and escapability are adequate. We need to see how his intangibles develop. I think the little he has shown is encouraging. We are all so fast to judge and label players these days. Last year as a rookie he was thrown into a huge mess and managed to keep his head above water for the most part. We won’t really know who this kid is for a year or more. So far so good but let’s see where he takes it from here. It would be a huge bonus in developing this roster if we truly don’t have to worry about drafting a QB high next year or anytime soon.
This is why I don’t believe they are looking at a QB next draft early.
I like Henry Ruggs III as good as Jeudy, Jeudy is a Cooper like receiver with a little better wheels, but Ruggs is an absolute burner who can also run a lot of the underneath routes well. He also times his catches so that he is accelerating through the reception and hitting on all cylinders after the catch . He, Grant and Wilson (if he ever gets healthy) would be a scary combo of receivers.
Williams mixed in for a bigger body, especially in the RZ. That would be a nice group and then a guy like Ford or another draft pick to round out the top 5.
Damn David, were you too “relaxed” after your first posting of her that you forgot you still had her image cached and posted it again?
Did Mikey start the new job yet?
Nope, I start on Tuesday. Once I start, I should be able to blog during lunch
I don’t know who will be the first WR taken in the 19 draft but I do think this guy will have something to say about it
I think he will say, man there were so many good receivers out there that i got pushed to the second 🙂
I hope so – we have two 2nds
and we probably shouldn’t be spending a first on one

Rock,
I really enjoy The First Law series by Abercrombie. It’s such a good read, and even the characters that are written to be generally distasteful,………
Kong, I liked Abercrombie a lot too. One of my few complaints was that the books weren’t really linear. It alludes to Bayaz pulling the strings in a larger / longer conspiracy but never really digs into it. The “future” books flash forward to Logan Ninefingers being an old man hiding in a foreign country and skips over how he got there.
He is really gritty and vulger sometimes, but I find that British writers tend to be that way. “Cunt” will get you killed in the states and Brits will call their little sister a cunt.
Armando
That is your opinion. You can’t discount Rosen yet.
I would wait to decide until after the season. What’s the rush?
I’d say Rosen is good to go for 2020.
Let’s give him an OL that can run-block and pass-pro.
If he can’t show us he’s the man, then draft a QB in 2020.
King, Rock,
You are both right- Thomas Covenant was not likable, particularly in the first series. There was something about the scale he wrote of, the sincerity of those who served The Land, that I related, or at least, reacted to. Lena’s rape and Elena’s love for him really screwed with my psyche (lol). The Bloodguards’ intransigence was just.. made a strong impression on me. I can’t argue that the writing in the first book and series was subpar, but that perhaps is why I liked it so much- it was raw, like a band just picking up theirs instruments and jamming together and it working because of their earnest playing..
I was not a big fan of the Final Covenant, but my reasoning is more related to Donaldson actually trying to make Covenant likable, I think.
Many people will say his best series was The Gap Series. Really good writing, but again mostly unlikely characters.
*unlikeable
Try, I read the series 35 – 25 years ago (as they came out in hard cover. Well, they started in ’77 so I read the fist couple in paperback, lol) so I don’t really recall the writing style or even most of the characters. I just have an impression, a feeling about how I felt about the books at the time. I kept reading them so I obviously enjoyed them at some level, I just FEEL like I didn’t connect with Thomas and couldn’t root for him.
I also didn’t care for the “Cross-over” between “reality” and “the Land” I am fuzzy on if Donaldson ever explained how that worked. I just remember not liking the premise of a guy from this world somehow stepping over into that world. (an in later novels Foul reaching back into the “real world”
I don’t know but it kind of sounds like a team player to me…….just saying 🙂

Oh and vanilla ice cream is his favorite. Bright future for this young man.
That’s RAEKWON (as in the Wu-Tang Clan), and the right answer is OVER! LOL 😉 😀
JBB, my friend!
Over!
You’ll be even more surprised to find that his answer was wrong.
Reshad Jones looking like Ricky.
Rock,
On a different blog I’d be inclined to go into detail about TCOTC. I’ll just say, in answer to your objection to it, The Land’s existence is never really established. Was it a real dimension or was it a construct of Covenant’s mind? Which of course is the fight he had throughout the books. But I get to each their own.
I liked TWOT, though I thought it was somewhat juvenile in delivery. I guess that’s my objection as to why I don’t think it will get enough traction. But I’ve been wrong before- I suspect that will continue…
Yes, it is a 14 THICK books of teenagers coming of age LOL
I so hope Amazon doesn’t do a Shannara on it
Ovah!
Oyvey?
Try & Kong, you may have seen me recommend it to Mike E But I’ll repeat it anyway I am reading the Chronicle Of The Unhewn Thrown Trilogy by Brian Staveley i’m about a third of the way into the final book It is a worthy read.
New Age, as for your question on the 11 players we can add next year I’m not so sure about all the positions. Obviously everyone says QB but we’ll see. Edge rushers for sure, maybe one in FA and one high in the draft. Definitely OL I’d say the same as Edge, one in FA and one high in the draft. CB will probably be another. But I think BPA will come into play as well. With the picks we have that’s the best way to upgrade your roster by taking the top talent available.
It’s been blown up…..we can go deeper. I think it’s poke and hope time.
Coaches need to coach. players need to audition, and a team needs to built.
I keep asking myself why Grier gave up his 2 1st rounders for picks. He thinks he can do better next time? I sure hope so or we’re just swapping pieces and delaying the process. Very odd to me.
I liked Rosen’s arm, O moved, seemed there was energy, albeit futile, mistakes galore. TNT? All for naught. Too bad.
Great weekend, otherwise!
I hear and agree to a greater degree with ya, Krishna. Hope all is well with ya, buddy.
That’s awesome, Try. I dig your take on the Covenant books. And I agree about the Bloodguard. They were the original reason the story resonated with me at all. They were simply amazing. The Giants were pretty cool too. One of the things I love about these stories is we all take various things from them, and being individuals with different experiences and viewpoints, we all connect on vastly different levels and appreciate different elements of the writing, characters, plot, etc.
Thanks for the feedback on the newer books. Like I said, I already picked up the 1st two, but haven’t got around to them yet. This convo has kinda piqued my interest in the story again, so I may pick up Illearth War tonight and burn through the Ents destroying Isengard and Sarauman’s army and…err… I mean the Forestal destroying the Raver and his army, lol. I am curious to see where he goes with the story since White Gold Weilder tied a neat bow on the story. 😉
Cheers 🙂
Rock,
Thanks for the referral. I’ll order the first book tonight, and give it a read this weekend. 🙂
*Wielder* and here are 6 more emojis since my first post didn’t have enough…
😈🍇☃️👽🧛🥣
Over of course, who does under……
Rock,
Thanks for the suggestion. I wanted to read Emperor’s Blades when it first came out and forgot all about it as I delved into other authors. I need a new author and perspective so I’ll give it try.
I found him because I read an article or a blog about the 10 best endings for epic fantasy series and this was one of them and it’s relatively recent
The emperors blades was a little bit slow but he was laying on the ground for his new universe the second book picks up and you become more attached to the characters
Missed two Phins games and pretty much all NFL news and come back to find out we have three firsts next year. And that Steelers’ one could be pretty darn good….. maybe even better than the spot we took Minkah.
Did the trade come before or after it was known Big Ben would be out?
Trade came AFTER Big Ben was ruled out for the season, Stanger.
Then we got value for Minkah instead of lucking into it. And we have another team to root against. 🙂
M13, Mando definitely has insider info. on the team. Whether we like all his commentary or not he is definitely connected.

Over is for simpletons
Welcome back Stanger I figured you were away when we hadn’t seen you for several days.
Thanks Son. And glad that was the way your mind went instead of other possibilities like intensive care and behind bars.
The question is not how the toilet paper goes from the roll to your hand
but how it arrives at your ass

From under!
SMH Figures.
Hey Stanger. You were almost down a house guest but I am out of the ICU and planning to be there for the fest
Shiot — assume the story is in back comments for me to read…..but you OK? Hoping just a scare.
It’s back in the blog starting from last Friday. It was more than a scare. I didn’t think I was going to survive the ambulance ride to Yale. In short my epiglottis became inflamed and swollen shut and cut off my airway. I had a cold they think that was the trigger but the underlying issue is that they think the epiglottis was impacted by the radiation last year and was more prone to inflammation. My kids were saying goodbye to me as they were loading me on the ambulance
Man would that ever freak me out. And for some reason you would never even think about. Did it happen all at once or did you have some notice about it?
Just happened out of the blue I am totally freaked out
One of my friends has a kid with severe allergies. They travel with an epi pen wherever they go with him. Am sure not the exactly the same, but what you experienced sounds similar. It comes from nowhere all at once as well and the kid can’t breathe.
You guys are all wrong! Just shheeeeezzzz
Tilt your head
Brewers smelling Cardinal blood in the water.
BBM,
You guys are going to have a great opportunity to play spoiler…
The Bye Week Bi Babe is coming soon, stiff competition for this years honor
Oh man Ken, I didn’t know your kids were saying goodbye to you. That is so sad. I got teared up reading that. Be well man.
the only books I read are the ones that D writes on this blog.
Lol me too
(Sometimes I skip to end on those too)
I heard he’s currently writing War and Peace Part Deux.
muhahahaha!

It was a little different!
So if your bored with the same old stuff, I just got finished with the current books!
That seems cool
I’m super surprised that this blog has a sci-fi/fantasy fiction streak
Ya It’s pretty incredible that we all have read the same books?
Ken
I bet your hulklings are estatic now!
We are all glad you are still smashing with us after your scare
They put Hulk on steroids

“On Sunday, Gase said that his game-plan would have been fine if the players executed his calls.”
Same thing happened in Miami…… Coach Gase just can’t catch a break.
Ah yes
Poor coach gase
That’s him. I liked when he called him “Peyton’s caddie”, that’s exactly who he is.
3 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds (many high ones).
Probably $130-$150 mil in cap room.
This offseason will be the biggest ever in Phins’ history.
Like two of them rolled into one.
It’ll be exciting
We’ll see on QB but we need someone who can sack the quarterback
we need everything
But we really need pass rushers
SMMFH
Ah it will all come out in the wash!
Just wait until Gase starts getting players traded
I want Jamaal Adams when that starts although it’s starting to look like a one and done for Gase this time and keep the good players.
I think OL needs to be the priority in free agency
But Adams wouldn’t be so bad…

It was a really close call but I have to say hearing my son say “I love you dad “ as they are lifting me up in the ambulance gave me a little more fight.
The gamma rays of the real world
I will never forget that until the day I really die
And so true
Well I’m really glad to hear that we get to make more memories starting with the fest
After all, you are the architect of the Ramada
Damn
Piggy we should draft more Wisconsin linemen I don’t know why we haven’t been doing that all along. But yes getting a good FA or two will help a lot.
Draft like 5 DE’s!
If we draft Biadasz, no one will be able to stop me fro buying that jersey
It will be so badass
Doesn’t Van Winkle wake up after half the season is over. I’d like to see how he looks he’s a similar player to the guy we got from NO for Kiko.
According to this USA Today article he will eligible this season
I’m excited to see him
Hey folks, sports and everything else we discuss here is all in good fun. When one of our own almost left us, that should be a sign that there is no need for us to spend time on nonsense. I’ve met Ken a couple of times and a bunch of you have more than that. We all know what a good guy he is.
Cheers Ken! To life!!!! 🙂
Thank you Tim. You are a good man. We will have to a northeast get together again
Let’s promise each other that we will do a NE fest by 2021. We should have a very competitive and fun team to watch by then. 🙂
Deal 😁
🐖🍻 🤢
👍
So what’s the OL this week? We got banged up as usual.
Go Brewers?
Congratulations! You guys killed it this month. Good luck! Gotta keep that magic going.

I felt like Gase was always blaming something else, a player, a coach, the execution, whatever. It seemed like he could never own up to the problem being him.
