Dolphins go to 0-5 – Look even uglier in person at Fest game

Well, thanks to the Dolphins generous defense, we managed to make RB Adrian Peterson look like AP circa 2014. Peterson ran over and around our defense to the tune of 118 yards on 23 carries for a healthy 5.1 YPC. That’s more than half his season output. Ah, it wasn’t just the defense that smelled bad, the offense was worse. Josh Rosen looked confounded by the Redskins pass rush and wasn’t up to the task on Sunday. I have no problem with Coach Flores naming Rosen the starter and then pulling him from the game. Just because he named him the starter doesn’t mean he’s not accountable for his play. He was awful and deserved to be pulled, and for what it was worth, Fitzpatrick handled the offense better than Rosen. We all knew this season was going to be ugly but many of us thought the Dolphins had a decent shot to beat the Redskins in our house.

Now the schedule becomes difficult again with a trip north to Buffalo. Buffalo’s defense is heads and shoulders better than the Redskins so that game in Orchard Park will be even more challenging for young Josh Rosen. Hopefully our game plan has him up to speed. This past week it was RB Mark Walton who got some action and he looked pretty good doing so. Drake and Ballage both took a back seat to Walton in production as Walton lead the team with 75 yards rushing and receiving combined. Drake got more action in the 2nd half with Fitzpatrick as the short passing game was used often. I saw us using 6 OL a few times to no avail, and I also multiple TE formations. Our O-line is bad folks, and it may look worse against an aggressive Bills defense.

Hey, whaddaya know, our defense got no sacks this past week! No Taco time? Charles Harris remains sackless! Read that as you like. 🙂 I realized the most painful thing about watching the game in the stadium is you can’t change the channel on the 4 big screens. Oh how I wished that I could!

GO DOLPHINS!

Take a knee at the 1 Micah Hyde

Piggy, Fitz played well today. If he plays like this I can deal with it

That was a good start to drive 🤥

The bengals are miserably bad too

  9. dloxahatchee says:

Game was fun to watch today anyways

  10. mf13ss says:

    So we lost again today…

  11. stangerx says:

Ouch Toba — at this point hoping your other within threes don’t hit.

  12. stangerx says:

Texans lost. Problem is some team in their division will have to win it. Not gonna be a wildcard team though.

  13. mf13ss says:

I damn near went off the plan today. I was once again ROOTING for our Phins to WIN!!!

We saw a LOT of promise from our players, who are NOT in on the tank. That — in and of itself — was most enjoyable to witness. Yes, today’s game was great to watch!

  14. manitobafinfan says:

Fumbled snap by RT, he recovered it

  15. CavalierKong says:

You can’t stop Gesicki, you can only hope to contain him.

  16. olddolphan says:

YES IT WAS, DLOX. But Miami’s second half woes continue, suggesting some players MAY not be in the best of shape. Today, we got to see how The Bearded One can still compete at a high level, which is more than I have seen so far from Rosen. Kudos to the O-Line, which actually gave Fitzy time to throw on most occasions. Mark Walton stood out, as, obviously, did Gesicki. It was good to see Wilson in there, too.

TWO or THREE wins are a distinct possibility this season.

  17. wyoming85 says:

Correct me if I’m wrong! But I didn’t see any “bad” drops today?

    That’s a pleasant change!

  18. stangerx says:

Am I the only one thinking we had a team play today?
Yeah we lost on the last play to the Skins, but they suck.
And so did we before then.

  19. bookman11 says:

    Be bad for Burrow.

  20. olddolphan says:

I HOPE ALL OF YOU NOTICED OUR #1 DRAFT PICK got EJECTED for throwing a punch ON THE VERY FIRST DEFENSIVE PLAY FOR MIAMI!! WHAT have we gotten from Charles Harris and Christian Wilkens lately?? WHEN will we get “someone better doin’ the pickin’??? I’ve seen quite enough of young Mr. Grier. MY HOPE is someone else is doin the pickin’ next March!!!

    • bookman11 says:

Wilkins has played 5 games in his NFL career. Really?

    • stangerx says:

Check out my post at 2:27 pm. Always wanted to do that to you. 🙂

    • Tim Knight says:

It was a stupid play by Wilkins but he can play. You don’t evaluate him on that. Grier will be the GM and Flores will be the HC in 2020. Harris on the other hand is a bust and won’t be here long. That bums me out because he’s a good dude, works hard but he just isn’t good enough.

  21. bookman11 says:

Piggy, it you are around, will be in NYC next Friday through following Tuesday. Maybe meet for Monday Night game? Staying near Times Square,

  22. mf13ss says:

If I’m not mistaking, Mike Gesicki was targeted more today than any other game in his young NFL career. NOW you out-of-staters (out of state from Pennsylvania, that is) finally saw what Gesicki is capable of doing when Ryan Tannehill and Adam Gase aren’t trying to play ‘keep away’ from Gesicki.

Tannehill had never known what a TE was prior to this year in Tennessee (yes, I AM rooting for his success!), and Gase thought TEs were only used to block… SMMFH.

This is ever more proof that our FO and Coaching hires hadn’t been on the same page, for YEARS.

And how about that… my man DeVante is emerging, the young buck UDFA Preston Williams is emerging (ballin’!), and most obviously, my guy Mike Gesicki is emerging (never dropped a pass all of last year!). But despite what is possibly the worst O-Line in the NFL right now… Ryan Fitzpatrick sucks, right? YOU FOOLS!!!

Get the O-Line fixed, then we won’t have to have a savvy vet like Fitzpatrick (who runs hot and cold) show to us the talent we already HAVE in-house! Fitzpatrick has been a BLESSING to us!!!

After today’s game, my positive thoughts on GM Chris Grier have been reinforced… and I absolutely retract my frustrated statement I’d made a few weeks ago about him (Mike E should remember… I was merely blowing off steam, admittedly even then).

Methinks we’re a franchise QB, a few O-Linemen, a ferocious pass-rusher, and a steady CB opposite Xavien away from being a REAL and perennial contender away.

Know what else I think? We can DO IT in the 2020 Draft… and then we come back in the 2021 Draft with two more 1st rounders!

Today reinforced my faith in our beloved franchise… we played VERY well against a VERY formidable team in the Bills. The future is looking BRIGHT!!! 🙂

    • stangerx says:

If you thinks “we’re a franchise QB, a few O-Linemen, a ferocious pass-rusher, and a steady CB opposite Xavien away” — you sure are gonna enjoy the off season. BTWN the draft and the cap room we will have twice that.

  23. Phindog says:

I thought the Oline did well today. Not great but serviceable.

    • Tim Knight says:

We had a little bit of fun today and still kept nice draft status. 😉

    • mf13ss says:

Honestly, I was rather surprised by how well our O-Line did today. BUT, remember who the QB was today. Had that been Josh Rosen, I’m willing to bet he’d taken 5+ sacks. Just being real.

Let’s be REAL: Ryan Fitzpatrick has pocket awareness like NOBODY’S business. He is INCREDIBLE in that regard. I was actually in AWE watching him in the pocket today. That dude is MAGNIFICENT GREAT in the pocket… despite his questionable throws.

WE NEED O-LINE HELP, without a Ryan Fitzpatrick!!!

      • Tim Knight says:

Fitz is in his 15th season at 36 and Rosen in his 2nd at 22. Rosen has been on the worst team in the league his first two years in the NFL. Reality check.

  24. Tim Knight says:

Chase Young could be the #1 pick in 2020.

  25. manitobafinfan says:

M: Cordarelle Patterson with another KR TD

    ————–
    ABSOLUTELY correct, sir!

And for Ryan Fitzpatrick, he never developed DCS* (David Carr Syndrome). Why? Because every team he’d played for as a young buck understood the elementary importance of developing a young QB with good habits. How to do that? Make sure the young buck QB is playing behind an adequate O-Line.

Hey… there are a LOT of Bill Parcells haters on this board… and I’m *sometimes* one of them. But there’s ONE THING I’ll NEVER begrudge Parcells for… and that was to take Jake Long @ R1P1 over Matt Ryan. WHY? Had we drafted Matt Ryan behind our then horrific O-Line, Matt Ryan would have become gun-shy and develop… say it with me… DCS*.

In short, a young QB can’t develop pocket-presence behind a sieve O-Line (see Ryan Tannehill). PROTECT THE ROOK QB, by all means. That way, he can develop positive traits as his career unfolds. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a great example of as much.

  27. manitobafinfan says:

Going to Jinx him but , FOX ran a stat on screen today that Russel Wilson has not thrown an INT in over 200 consecutive GAMES

  28. The Flying Pig says:

Oh wow…didn’t know Wilkins was a bust now bc he got thrown out of his 6th nfl game…

    ————–
And here’s another take from me…

Perhaps we’re trying to protect our investment in Josh Rosen, so as not for him to develop negative traits… or even allowing him to get permanently maimed behind our very, very lackluster O-Line this year.

  30. Mike E. says:

Count me in as one of the Parcells haters on the board. I despise what that lazy fat fuck did while here in Miami

  31. bookman11 says:

Piggi, in my bet OD, post for you at 4:42pm

  32. Tim Knight says:

Man… it’s doesn’t take much to get way off topic. LOL

  33. manitobafinfan says:

LMAO .. fuck you Stanger… Wilson Pick 6

  34. manitobafinfan says:

    1st in 221 attempts

  35. Tim Knight says:

Parcells was a great head coach, not so much a czar. But there is more to the story than that. I don’t feel like going on and on about it though. LOL

  36. mf13ss says:

    Tim,

    Here’s what I can tell ya…

I REALLY liked what I saw from our team today! I saw legit FIGHT, I saw our receivers (DeVante, Preston, and Gesicki) showing what they’ve got, and I saw a cheese O-Line of ours actually rise to the occasion (again, thanks in part to Ryan Fitzpatrick).

Now keep in mind that we were without playmakers Xavien and Reshad today… but our Defense could have been FAR worse.

Man, it was actually FUN to root for our Phins today!!! I NOW see a future beyond our 0-6 record, for the first time this year, bud. 🙂

  37. manitobafinfan says:

Bosa starting to eat RT s Lunch

  38. Phindog says:

That dude playing QB for the Titans looks like RT. He even holds onto the ball too long and takes sacks just like him 😆

  39. Mike E. says:

No question Parcells was a fantastic HC. On the other hand, he did a major money grab and half assed his way through a shitty reign here in Miami as the guy in charge of everything. For that, and that alone I hate him. I don’t care what he did before he got here, I only care about what he did here, and it was awful.

  40. Randy says:

We are seeing improvement. That’s all I’m really hoping for. If we can just keep seeing a little improvement from week to week, I’ll take it this season. We need to draft some horses before we can compete.
    ***
Fitz is who he is. He knows how to avoid sack situations. He’s not the long term guy, so it’s more important how he’s helping to develop young guys on the team. Rosen will get another shot sooner or later. Hopefully he’s learning and getting better with Fitz’s help.

    • stangerx says:

We had a dog in the fight today. And with you on Fitz. He has a free wheeling style that works well with a bad O-Line. Seems broken plays are when he thrives. Which is great but also hard to build a team around even if he was younger.

  41. mf13ss says:

How trivial… to actually attack a fellow Phin fan (and perennial season ticket holder!) in my man MR. CAMPBELL.

Look… it’s OKAY to have differing opinions, y’all. It’s OKAY to think outside of the box, and maybe look foolish to others. It’s OKAY to express, IYO, what ya think. It’s OKAY to wear your heart on your sleeve, so as to say your thoughts on our beloved franchise.

    • stangerx says:

No need to worry about OD. He knows very well what he does and is quite capable of sticking up for himself. You know have been to many many games with him I hope. Some day hoping to sit next to you at one. Any game any season just let me know and will make it happen. Fest would be best, but fine if another game too.

      • mf13ss says:

I consider you to be a very good man, MR. Stanger. However, I do NOT CARE for the way our guy MR. Randy Campbell is treated by the trolls on this board, sir.

I’m ALL about respect, even when disagreeing. I always give it, and I expect it in return… and then a mofo wants to be a troll.

Yessir, there are some bloody TROLLS on this board… and we both know it.

At any rate, MUCH LOVE to both you and Mr. Randy Campbell.

I live and will die by RESPECT. I GIVE a lot of it, and I’m not going to take a cold diss in return… just because someone doesn’t like my political views (which I’ve essentially cut out of this board… notice! 🙂 )

LIVE to GIVE, and GIVE to LIVE. I don’t have time for the haters, my man, MR. Stanger. I LUV YA, my friend!

      • bookman11 says:

Trolls? Really? Someone needs to get a grip, there is nobody on here who is a better fan than others, including “fake” people who call everyone their “brotha”. Everyone on here has their own story as a fan.

      • stangerx says:

OD – is my real world friend. And a step beyond an every Fest one. Maybe you know more, but my take is don’t worry about it. And that is cause respect the man more than a bit. I don’t need anyone to stick up for me and neither does he.

        And LUV you too man.

      😉 jk

      • The Flying Pig says:

Personally I would be happy if we played musical QBs all season

But I want to see our young players develop and we need first downs in order for them to get opportunities

Fitzpatrick is moving the ball lately

      • New Age says:

Agreed. I don;t think Parker is worth a long-term contract but Fitz let’s us at least answer question like that this year.

  43. The Flying Pig says:

    Bookman

I don’t know if you saw it, but we can watch MNF at slatterys, it’s not far from Times Square

Alright, I realize that I can be a VERY big dickhead at times. I never engage in attack, I only defend. With that stated, I realize I can offend without it being my intention, and I KNOW I can do better. For that, I sincerely apologize.

Methinks the beef between Mr. Bookman and me materializes from some political opinions I’ve posted in the past. Yet as I remember (man, I’ve got a GOOD and LONG memory! Ask nearly anybody here!), he took a personal pot-shot at me for posting stats about our Phins… and he cussed me out BIG TIME for as much, while taking a very personal jab at me. NOT COOL.

We can have differing opinions, and it’s ALL GOOD! For the love of Mother Earth in the many years after we all die, that’s ALWAYS, ALWAYS been my mantra… thus, I will never attack. I’m the one who was the ‘greeter’ (like a Wal-Mart greeter), encouraging each and every one of y’all to keep posting on Omar’s blog! I RESPECT the RESPECTFUL, and there was ZERO disrespect tolerated under the likes of my dude Chris Tiedje.

I’d very MUCH like to bury hatchets with you, Bookman. Maybe I’ve been in the wrong, maybe you’ve been in the wrong… does it really matter, though? I seek peace, because THAT is who I am, sir.

What say you, my friend? Yes… I just called you my friend… because that’s how we once knew one another… as FRIENDS! I’d very much like to return to our friendship, rather than spatting at one another like something stupid. I’m pretty sure that everybody looks at us like we’re bloody fools.

Forgive me for my indiscretions, Bookman.

    • stangerx says:

Bookman is one of the nicest guys you could ever ask to meet. Maybe a sarcastic tinge at times, but that about it. Back to we would love to meet you man. Fest is just fun and love. Looking forward to seeing them with a true roster.
