Two in a row! Dolphins upset Colts in Indy for 2nd consecutive win

Look, we all see that this team is down on talent, it doesn’t take long to realize that watching this team play week after week. On the other hand there are the little things that teams do that keeps them in games like doing your assignment correctly and if you’ve been watching, you can see we are improving in that area each and every week. Why the 3rd quarter has become a black hole for us I’m not quite sure, but there is no question the guys who are on the field are playing hard, and playing to win. Yes, Jacoby Brisset didn’t suit up yesterday, and yes, that hurt Indy. Close to half our roster (probably more) wouldn’t be starting for the Indianapolis Colts. TY Hilton was also out for Indy and that hurt too. Preston Williams, our leading WR is out for the rest of the season. I also understand our roster holes are self inflicted, but the guys that aren’t here now weren’t part of our team, including the mutinous Minkah Fitzpatrick. I know he’s playing well in Pittsburgh but any guy who asks off our team is dead to me, and I truly hope he regrets going to the Steelers at some point, and I think he will.

You have to give Ryan Fitzpatrick credit. That guy just loves playing football and will do anything to win, sacrificing his body a few times a game. His stats aren’t going to pop off the page, but he’s keeping this team in games with his escapability and his veteran leadership. Fitzpatrick finished 21-33 for 169 yards with 0 TD’s and 1 INT. It was his rushing TD however, that was the only TD scored that day by either teams. The Dolphins defense held the Colts to 4 Adam Vinatieri FG’s. The Dolphins limited the Colts 3 headed rushing attack of Mack, Heims and Wilkins to 109 yards on 29 carries. They also held WR Zach Pascal to just 2 receptions for 26 yards. Pascal had 5 catches for 76 yards and a TD against the Minkah’s last week. I still don’t know all the guys in our secondary, Nik Needham, Eric Rowe, Ryan Lewis, Steven Parker, Chris Lammons, Jomal Wiltz etc. Ken Webster was out this week but it’s amazing that Flores is doing this the Patriots way, guys are just doing their assignments. Much credit must go to HC Brian Flores.

Devante Parker may finally put a 1000 yard season under his belt. Unbelievable, but his his best season resulted in only 744 yards in 2016. He’s at 469 yards after 9, so he will have to finish the 2nd half of the season strong, but the fact that it’s even possible is good news for him and Dolphins fans. Next season with Parker and Preston Williams back healthy there is no urgency to select a WR early in the draft. That’s important because we have great needs on both lines and we should be hitting on those early and often.

We were in a few games earlier this season and we let it slip away. Now, 2 weeks in a row we’re doing the things we have to do to win. One can make light that we beat the NY Jets and that we beat the 5-3 Colts w/o that their starting QB Jacoby Brisset but it doesn’t mean anything. You win with what you got, and winning with what we got is very impressive against anyone. Simple as that!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

We need Buffalo, Indy and Oakland to make the playoffs, so Pitt and Houston don’t.

Honestly Garrett should be thrown the hell out of the league.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. If I had the power Garrett would be out of the league. That’s street nonsense. Not a professional sport. He had many moments to think about what he was going to do and he kept making it worse. What if he killed or left Rudolph disabled with a non-football act?

That can not be allowed or the game is over.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So now the NFLN peeps are saying Rudolph was just as guilty, kind of. I give up! It’s BS!!!! A scrum is not the same as assaulting a player in the head with his own helmet like it’s a hammer. Give me a break!

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tim, they say that, because Rudolph tried to pull off Garrett’s helmet and twisted it on his face. Garrett started it though by staying on top too long after the hit.

    LMAO

    Pouncey probably hurt himself!

Wow, I just saw the replay of Garrett and Rudolph. He’s got to be suspended the rest of the season and maybe some of next season for that. I think a full season is about right.

Steelers are probably looking at 9-7 or 8-8. Wish it would be worse but they have some easy games coming up.
    at Bengals next week
    home in rematch against Browns
    at Cardinals
    home against Bills
    at Jets
    at Ravens
    Maybe Cards will step up.

  9. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

    Texans at Ravens this week.
    home against Colts
    home against Pats
    home against Broncos
    at Titans
    at Bucs
    home against Titans
Unfortunately, I could see them at 11-5 or 10-6. Come on T-hill !!!

  10. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Bengals may have a glimmer of hope if Pouncey gets suspended and also Steelers injury report. Didn’t they have like 3 guys go into concussion protocol? Also, Connor injured again.

  11. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Man, I really like this one. To bad certain players won’t last to where I got them.

Round 1 Pick 4: Chase Young, DE/OLB, Ohio State (A)
Round 1 Pick 22: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU (B+)
    Round 1 Pick 26: Alex Leatherwood, OG/OT, Alabama (B+)
    Round 2 Pick 4: Tyler Biadasz, C, Wisconsin (A)
    Round 2 Pick 27: KLavon Chaisson, DE/OLB, LSU (B)
    Round 3 Pick 4: Xavier McKinney, SS/FS, Alabama (A)
Round 4 Pick 15: AJ Dillon, RB, Boston College (A+)
Round 5 Pick 21: Julian Blackmon, CB, Utah (A+)
Round 6 Pick 4: Khalil Davis, DT, Nebraska (A+)
Round 6 Pick 21: Tyler Johnson, WR, Minnesota (A+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Marcus Keyes, OG, Oklahoma State (A+)

Steelers pick should be back up in the late teens again.

  12. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Swinging the helmet as a weapon, easily a multiple game suspension. Could be rest of the season, 6 game suspension and massive fine. Or like Mike said above, this could even go into next year. Maybe an 8 game suspension

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’ve watched most of every Thursday game this year, and this is the game I miss, smh. I just didn’t have anyone to root for, so i figured why watch?

  13. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Garrett’s ridiculous over-reaction overshadows the fact Rudolph twisted and nearly pulled Garrett’s helmet off (which started the brouhaha). Rudolph will be hit with a fine as well, possibly a suspension although I think it unlikely. Some of the Steelers were kicking and punching Garett while he was on the ground. That should be suspensions for them too.

  14. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

BBM’s breakdown of the remaining games for the Texans and Steelers not uplifting, but least the Browns got a 4th win…… they are out of the top 5 pick derby.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Garrett suspended indefinitely (league says at least until the end of the season). Pouncey gets 3 games. Ogunbjobi gets one game.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Bet you they round Garrett out to a full year.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

It’ll be interesting to see what approach the league takes with him next year.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Cav — that was assault with a weapon. Not talking in NFL world…. in the real one. And so far outside the the rules that he could get charged.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Police have said they aren’t pursuing charges since Rudolph hasn’t filed a complaint, and I doubt he will. The furor over this incident will be long over once next year rolls around, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him reinstated at the beginning of next year.

I certainly think it could/should warrant additional games going into the next season, but this is a rising star and he has already been suspended longer than anyone ever has for one incident (even Haynesworth egregiously cleating a guy in the head only got 5 games) so like I said, it’ll be interesting to see how the league approaches it once we get there.

  15. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

So no punishment for Mason Rudolph?

Agree with you Kong – but for Garrett’s overreaction, we would be talking out the way he acted

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The league did say they’re still reviewing and more fines and/or suspensions could be handed out.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

        He should be suspended

Otherwise everything they have done makes sense to me
I don’t love the term indefinite (just pick a time frame instead of leaving it open ended)
But it’s got to cost Garrett many games

  16. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Rudolph should get suspended too! (only to make our draft pick worth more. LOL)

  17. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Come to think of it
The Steelers should forfeit their season

  18. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

So I met this hot little doe last Weekend who was ready to go and everything seemed cool…she went back to my forest with me and you won’t believe what happened next

  19. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think what Rudolph did was in response to Garrett giving him some extra business when he was on his back. Okay, fine Rudolph or whatever but what Garrett did was criminal. There is no place for that kind of behavior and assault in the game.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

It’s not necessarily a trade off

You can think they both did something wrong

Rudolph tried to rip of garrets helmet
He just failed to do it

I’m sure it was a reaction, but do you think it’s okay for QBs to rip off dals helmets and attack them if there is a late hit. I don’t. I think the league has to punish Rudolph as well

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I basically said that. Scrums happen in the NFL and guys get ejected and fined, but what Garrett did was really bad.

  20. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Garrett just lost his shit. He was wrong for the way he tackled Rudolph in the first place, and then when Rudolph came near him in the end zone he just blew a fuse. That was nuts. He’s lucky he didn’t hit him with the shell of the helmet, it could have been a serious injury, and then charges would be pressed.

  21. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Piggy – The game was over, there was no reason for Garrett to take Rudolph down and hold on to him, that was unnecessary and extracurricular. He was just being a doucher.

  22. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

    And Pouncy “blacked out?” R-i-I-g-h-t…

    • D's avatar D says:

He had a part in it, albeit a minor one. Did they fine DeCastro? if they did ill be really pissed about that because all DeCastro did was try to defuse that situation,.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

No fine announced for Decastro, which is a good thing. He’s the one guy who really kept his head and agreed he tried to defuse.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

      Slap on the wrist

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think it’s appropriate. I didn’t really expect a suspension for him, but he certainly needed to be fined. Like Pig and I said, if Garrett doesn’t do what he did, then Rudolph is the one being talked about for yanking and twisting at Garrett’s helmet, nearly ripping it off.

  23. D's avatar D says:

Thats on Garrett, he sacked him and put some extra effort into it. Rudolf reacted and probably should get punished too. Pouncey added extra after the fact in retaliation and should get punished, but Garrett deserves severe punishment. just the rest of the year wouldn’t be all id do if i were the commish. Had Garrett hit him with the crown of that helmet as hard as he did the back of it, Rudolph is eating through a straw for a while, if not has permanent damage. Its not like Garret took that into consideration either, he just hit him with it the way he was holding it. Using your helmet as a weapon need to be nipped in the bud and im sorry 8 games just doesn’t do it.

Getting some positive attention…and no more G^&damned tank talk. Love it!

Buffalo is going to be a tough out, they are fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot. Even in Miami, this should be a tough game to pull out, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this team responds to a modicum of success.

  25. D's avatar D says:

Poor deer, he’s like damnit now I’ll never get to finish. He’s walking around somewhere with some serious blue balls

  26. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Kong – I get the feeling Rudolph had had enough of Garrett on top of him. I think it was poor behavior by Garrett, and I can see why Rudolph was miffed.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Even looking at it that way, it still doesn’t mean Rudolph gets a pass for what he did. You’re not given carte blanche to attack a guy and try to rip his helmet off because he got under your skin.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

No free pass, I didn’t say he should. I think the fine is appropriate. No way should he be suspended though.

  27. D's avatar D says:

So this is what Walter from walterfootball.com has for us (Rnd 1-2).

    Justin Herbert
    De’Andre Swift
    Trey Adams
    Solomon Kindley
    Anfrenee Jennings

One problem i do have is he passed on Chase Young for us, which i dont think if Young is on the board when we pick that is any way we skip that pick to take Herbert. Using his same draft board, i would and keeping positions selections the same, my draft would have come out

    Chase Young
    Jacob Eason
    Trey Adams
    Solomon Kindley
    Kristen Fulton

I like mine better, but his wouldn’t make me disappointed either.

    • D's avatar D says:

I was about to say that this is the first time i have like a draft by Walter lol, turns out that was Charlies draft, so that makes way more sense as to why it wasnt complete shit.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We need a RB but I don’t like the idea of using one of our firsts for a RB

      Otherwise it’s a good draft
Adams and Kindley would be great

But if you cut out that RB pick, you can probably add a DB or a pass rusher and then look to the 3rd round for a RB

      • D's avatar D says:

Kinda how i think too. Plenty of Rb in the 3rd that would be great picks. Starters for sure.

      • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

I personally wouldn’t have a problem taking Taylor late round 1, but more cost effective would be taking AJ Dillon later.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Yeah, I mentioned AJ Dillon before here

Also zack Moss was mentioned by WY if I recall and he’s also cost effective

Taylor and Swift are the top 2 rbs
        They both have talent

The only reason RB early is on the radar is bc we have 3 first rounders and building a OL and solid running game can really help any rookie QBs we draft

    • D's avatar D says:

      Justin Herbert
      Laviska Chenault
      De’Andre Swift
      Josh Jones
      Jaylon Johnson
      ————————————-
there’s the Walter i know lol.

  28. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

That said I wouldn’t complain if we ended up with swift

    Those cuts 👀

  29. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

    D,
I like your draft version with the exception of Eason. I do think overall Walter did land the correct fits especially w/ Jennings.

  30. dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

If the draft unfolded like Charlie had laid out mine would’ve been:
    1a) Fromm/ Herbert
    1b) A. Leatherwood
    1c) Biadasz
    2a) Jonathan Taylor
    2b) Jennings

    • D's avatar D says:

I like Jennings, but id rather have a guy like Young thats more hybrid DE/DT than Jennings who is more OLB/DE. Wouldn’t mind having both for that matter. Leatherwood i think is kinda a road-grater not fleet of foot enough for me. He just is a little bit of a plodder,Thomas on the other had might have better feet than Tunsil which is saying a lot. I am just not much of a fan of Herbert, or Fromm really. Eason is a work in progress but i think he has a better high end than either of those two. You draft is a good one too though. I wouldn’t complain if we ended up with that group.

      • dbolt48's avatar dbolt48 says:

I’m a huge proponent of Fromm I’m this O. He’s not a fit for every offense, but one who needs a Brady or Pennington QB he’s perfect.

  31. D's avatar D says:

Clyde Edwards-Helaire LSU’s RB is a video game. His spin more is sick and he pops it at the perfect time to avoid the defender. Id take him in the 3rd and be extremely happy to have him as our starter. Still there are PLENTY of starting material RB’s like Ke’Shawn Vaughn out of Vandy, Le’Michael Perine out of UF, Najee Harris, Zach Moss, Scottie Phillips Ole Miss, and Hill from MSU, Akers, Etienne, Hubbard, etc etc etc. Definately one of the deepest Rb classes ive ever seen. We definately dont have to go RB in the first.

  32. D's avatar D says:

Boring draft, but solid and safe. Got a couple of unlikely gifts, but…..

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 4: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia (A)
    Round 1 Pick 22: Alex Leatherwood, OG/OT, Alabama (B-)
    Round 1 Pick 26: Tyler Biadasz, C, Wisconsin (B+)
Round 2 Pick 4: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU (A)
    Round 2 Pick 27: KLavon Chaisson, DE/OLB, LSU (B+)
Round 3 Pick 4: Solomon Kindley, OG, Georgia (A)
Round 4 Pick 15: Zack Moss, RB, Utah (A+)
Round 5 Pick 21: Jordan Fuller, FS/SS, Ohio State (A+)
Round 6 Pick 4: Cameron Dantzler, CB, Mississippi State (A+)

Don’t forget about RB Tavien Feaster 6′ 0″, 221 lbs from South Carolina who could be there in the later rounds. At his size, he has been clocked faster (4.34 sec 40) than his old teammate at Clemson Travis Etienne (4.37 sec 40). He just lacks the shiftiness of the better backs we are talking about. I would think of him as a faster Connors of the Steelers.

  37. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I did not know this. Vontae’s cousin is fast as hell. He was #2 fastest on BR’s list. He is a senior and will be in the draft next year.

    2. Javaris Davis, CB, Auburn

    Top time: 4.24 40-yard dash

The cousin of former NFL stars Vontae and Vernon Davis, cornerback Javaris Davis has talented bloodlines in addition to blazingly fast speed. The former Freshman All-American has worked within some talented secondaries at Auburn already, notably playing with Carlton Davis and Jamel Dean. Now it’s time for Javaris Davis to step-up as the experienced senior who leads the next generation of young talent on the Tigers’ defense.

Davis has experience both inside and outside, and his speed is a clear advantage that shows in man-to-man snaps. Most slot corners are small in stature, but are quicker-than-fast, making them vulnerable deep or requiring safety help. That’s not an issue for Davis, who can hold his own athletically in either role.

His versatility is a big bonus for the unit. At 5’10” and 187 pounds, he’s not the typical big-framed star the defense has produced in the last two NFL drafts. But he’s a defensive weapon who has continued to make an impact in each of his three seasons.

Tim, Swift, IMO is one of those rare backs. I think if you made a list of all the qualities you want in a RB, you could check all the boxes with Swift. It would be awesome if we were to get him. If Ballage does not improve after next year, I would move on and get another big RB in 2021 like IU’s sophomore RB Stevie Scott, 6’2″ 231 lbs.

He will be one of the 1st if not the very first RBs off the board
But that still might be the 2nd round

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I would love for us to land Swift and Edwards-Helaire whatever rounds that may be. They would be a very dynamic duo and a pain in the ass for opponents. Those two would help a young QB develop. They could also help a mediocre OL because they make their own plays. As long as they can pick up blitzes because they can both run and catch. They would be great outlets for a QB under duress. Roll with them and build a good defense and you’re in every game.

I think being physical on both sides of the ball is the basis of what Grier and Flores want to build. A good running game is a big part of that. I’d rather invest in that than top tier WRs. You can find good WRs in all sorts of ways. There’s more of them than any other position.

I think we will address OL in FA

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. We want to add seasoned players with experience. We have enough guys trying to find their way and young prospects. Not saying we don’t draft any OL, but I do think we’ll target them in FA.

A little of both FA and the draft

  47. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Piggy, what I’m saying is if we sign a starting OT, OG or C in FA we probably won’t take one high in the draft. Possibly a couple in the mid and late rounds.

I think QB is going to be a no-brainer early, but exactly where not sure. RB is a position you should draft. So to me it’s QB, Edge, RB and DB early. Double up on Edge in FA and the draft. I think we have some good young LBs to work with. And we play nickel a lot.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I would love it if we went that route

But this draft does shape up well for OL

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed! We have so many options. Having three 1st rd and two 2nd rd picks in 2020 and then two 1st rd and two 2nd rd picks in 2020 is very rare. Along with cap to spend. This team we see this year is a shell of what it’s going to be.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

That’s a good argument in terms of wins or losses

But some of us don’t forget the draft
We have 3 freaking first round picks!

I’m not going to forget the draft
If we were 9-0 right now
I would be talking about the draft

I was excited about the draft before week 1

I’m excited about the draft in 2021 already

  53. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Fuck. Going to be nothing but Kaepernick today.

    Lot of QBs worth watching
I recommend checking out Herbert late tonight if you aren’t out on the town

  56. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“He said he’s not worried about the draft. He’s worried about winning games; [that’s] what he told us. He was telling us, ‘We’re trying to win these games, guys. Fuck the draft, we’re not worried about that. We’re worried about the next opponent. We’re worried about getting a win.’ He’s done a good job.”

    — Jesse Davis on how Flores never got the tanking memo.

D, Yeah, like Ke’Shawn Vaughn as well. Someone posted his video a while back. May have been you. Great size with speed also. Surprised he didn’t come out last year. Goes to show you don’t have to spend a late #1 on Swift or Taylor to get a real good one. I would prefer they wait until at least our 5th pick (last pick in second round) to draft one. We still haven’t seen much of Gaskin or Laird yet. Hope to see more of them in the coming games.

  58. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Piggy, I’m going to watch (work permitting) the IU/Penn State game in an hour and see how RB Stevie Scott looks against that PSU DL. Also going to check out this speedy WR IU has (for any Italians on here, LOL) WR Whop Philyor.

Guess our team has burned a lot of betters after 5 wins against the spread in a row.

    Phel,

I should have known you’d have seen and loved Justified. So few people I’ve met have watched it, but I’ve always known you’re a cool cat.

It’s one of my favorite shows of all time. The dialogue is as good as it gets, and I want to be Raylan Givens when I grow up.

  63. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I think Tua’s draft status is going to drop. To like the 4th QB taken. (Burrow, Herbert, Hurt, Tua)

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Well if he’s the 4th QB then sounds like one will be there for us. Figure like 11th is the highest (or lowest) we can end up.

  64. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

And that is why you don’t worry about the draft and try to tank….

    Go win games.

Mike, you asked me the other day if I was worried about Tua’s durability? I AM NOW. A couple ankle injuries is one thing, a hip injury is a whole other can of worms. This could be very serious!!!

If we can’t get Burrow, I think we need to now shift focus to either Chase Young or Herbert.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I still think he doesn’t really want to play. This is a big publicity stunt. So many people have been saying this is a PR move by the NFL. I think it’s the Kaep camp using the NFL to keep this a story. He did everything he could to lampoon his chances of getting signed today.

  73. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

  74. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

We weren’t going to be in position to draft him anyway after we win the rest of our games this season and the wildcard, divisional, conference and Super Bowl

  75. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Wow that’s horrible for Tua. Forget about tank for Tua and him being the QB for us and all that, the guy’s career has just been derailed. Feel bad for him.

  78. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Tu probably should stay in school. Guy’s future in the NFL took a massive hit so he needs to focus on another possible career path. Leaving the game with his body healthy is definitely a good choice.

    Love – 2 int 2 td’s outwith concussion
    Hurts – shitting the bed

    Burrow – ROLLING
Hebert – playing on the left coast later

    Get Burrow

  83. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Justin Herbert is the QB I think Miami wants. Big and tall, can make every throw and has some mobility.

Don’t get me wrong I was rooting for Minnesota!

Go Ravens, Colts, Falcons, Bucs, Lions, Cards, Chiefs, Broncos!

Bengals/Raiders? Hmm? If Raiders win and can push for a W/C with Buff and Colts or Titans win division over Texans, that would be nice! Need Titans to come up big with 2 games left against Texans.

    Jets/Redskins?????????????????????

  93. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So Kaepernick couldn’t even do a workout without drama. He changed the venue 45 minutes before it was suppose to happen that was an hour away from where team reps traveled to see him. The issue was his camp didn’t trust the NFL camera crew would fairly represent him. Wow!!!! That’s how you win them over. LOL
