Creating a depth chart at this juncture is really an exercise in futility because odds are we will be changing personnel there both from free agency and then the draft and also because the uncertainty of whether long time S Reshad Jones will return. This is how I see it if Reshad comes back.
S – Eric Rowe , Bobby McCain
S – Reshad Jones, Stephen Parker
In free agency there are a lot of older safeties on the market but there a few younger ones that might be able to help. Damarious Randall has played CB and S for both GB and the Browns, the last 2 years at safety with the Browns. Justin Simmons is a big safety at 6’2 220 and has played both FS and SS. Simmons has 11 INT’s for the Broncos in 4 seasons and last year which is arguably his best season he had 15 pass break ups. Anthony Harris who played for the Vikings for the last 4 seasons played his last season exclusively at safety after splitting time the previous seasons at CB and S. He also had his best season with 6 INT’s. HaHa Clinton-Dix is also a FA and has toiled at S for the Packers, Skins and Bears. He’s only 27, I thought he was older. Tre Boston is also available. Our own Walt Aikens is a FA and I won’t be surprised in the least if he returns here, mostly as a special teams ace.
In the draft, we will have a shot at the best safeties but as you know, we have higher priorities on other positions so I don’t expect us to take a safety until at least the 2nd RD. Supposedly there is a big drop in talent after the first tier. Xavier McKinney from Alabama and Grant Delpit from LSU are the 2 highest rater with McKinney at the top, followed by Antoine Winfield who is only 5’9 with short arms. Ashtyn Davis, Kyle Dugger and Julian Blackmon round out the field.
An awful lot will depend on whether the Dolphins want Reshad back and whether he has the desire to return this season. It seems as though the Bobby McCain experiment is over and he will return to nickel corner which leaves us pretty thin at the position. There are so many more safeties that Flores might have his eye on both in FA and the draft, but we do need to get some depth there for sure and if Reshad isn’t back, a starting caliber player for sure.
Have any of you seen the renderings of the draft stage in Las Vegas? Insane! They’re creating a stage in the fountains at the Bellagio and supposedly they’re going to have a boat bring the Prospects to the stage when they’re name is called. Here’s a pic of the stage that they might build.

GO DOLPHINS!!
#staythecourse

I just did a draft on firstpick, I swear I almost fell asleep. lol
I’m going out on a limb here.
Based on everything and before anything.
My line of disappointment is 8-8.
Anything less will be failure. 9-7 will be successful. IMHO
I am actually predicting 10-6 … IF we get a stud RB.
Wild card in the play-offs,
but only if we get a new RB who gets at least 800 yds rushing. & at least 6 TDs.
you can lead a mule to water but you can’t make him drink!
That is wise, but apropos of what?
He wants to lead us to Brady but we are not buying it.
Don’t forget Antonio Brown.
Naples, I thought Feaster was staying in college. That’s why I don’t use first pick much. I prefer thedraftnetwork simulator. They are constantly updating it and even after pro days they made more updates on their rankings. You just can’t make trades unless you pay.
Feaster is listed as one of your draft picks as being from Clemson,
but he transferred from Clemson to USC because he was behind Etienne and the freshman.
I do not know whether he declared for the 2020 draft.
RIP Max Von Sydow. Favorite movie of his is probably Victory.
Not Ming the Merciless?????
we may not even have an NFL season this year, if this epidemic gets worse i can’t imagine anyone wanting to go to an NFL stadium packed with 60k people.
how about the draft? las vegas may be empty, first time Goodell will not be booo’d.
online draft only
i think the nfl meeting in ft laud has been cancelled, it will be done online instead.
The flu is coming the flu is coming!
Bet you right now that the Olympics gets delayed a year.
BBM,
Tuszka is a kid I’ve followed a little up here in the Great White North. He’s a little bit like Van Ginkel, but I think he’s possibly a better athlete. The knock on him is that he comes from a small school. I have no clue where he’s projected to be drafted, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if this regime took a run at him.
My sons college classes have been cancelled for this week and next week is his spring break. They’re strongly considering doing classes on-line for the rest of the semester
Read today that Princeton already pulled the trigger on that. Said don’t come back after Spring Break. And that campus is sorta of isolated.
Not everyone that goes to Princeton (or any school for that matter) lives on campus though, and therein lies the rub
True — and they have people from all over the world who go there.
I’m seeing a lot of angst about FA, the draft and what our 2020 results might be. This is just Phase II of the rebuilding process. We’re going to be adding a lot more rooks and young players this offseason. There is no pressure yet with what our record will be because building a potential playoff or championship caliber team doesn’t happen after one year of blowing it up. Just some food for thought.
Did you wash your hands before bringing that food on the blog?
Nope, maybe I shouldn’t even leave the house. LOL
I’m pretty nonchalant about this whole virus thing, I hope it doesn’t bite me in the ass.
Scares me for a lot of reasons…… and that includes if never get it. Dow lost 2,000 points today.
Yes, the whole world including the financial side is being hit by the virus, but it’s temporary
I’m not scared of the virus at all but I worry for my parents. They are coming up with treatments all over the world and many of them are current meds. It would be nice if the media didn’t try to start a panic but panic sells. I doubt they can control themselves.
Almost all of our medicines now are made in China. That is a big problem. I believe that is something Trump should attempt to modify.
We skippped a meet and greet at our club. It was for the “snow birds” who just arrived from up north and other seasonal tourists from all over the world.
Never skipped a party before.
This is going to be a great off-season!
Fins Up!
Good to see you. Hope all has been well.
Hey Markey! It should be fun, and I’m optimistic we’ll be in much better shape going into the 2020 season
Thuney, Mcgovern & Glasgow would be great FA pick ups, draft a LT and let Davis play RT.
OL fixed
markeyh in the house!!! Hope all is well, man.
So do we want Frank Gore back?
I sorta do.
He’s a great mentor, would be a great mentor for Swift.
I don’t think a RB needs a mentor. Just do your job.
Corona virus better not shut down the NFL draft. The HIMSS convention got shut down this past week in Orlando and while that’s a really big event, I’m sure the draft is bigger population wise.
Stanger, yes the market had its worst point drop ever, actually the 10 worst drops ever have occurred in the last 3 and a half years
wall street is in a state of panic because they are being lied to and bilked out of their money, Larry Kudlow said buy the dips, two WEEKS ago!
that is SHIT ADVICE from an administration with no empathy or knowledge of damn near any subject
then the daily lying ,ignorance , denial, and mixed messages, coming from a follower that didnt think we needed pandemic controls or personnel, is making the wall street news. this does the opposite of calm investors.
trump lives in ignorance and denial, doesnt seem to care much about dead Americans stacking up, because, well ya know, that hurts his reelection chances.
after returning from India, high risk potus spread his germs and ilk around orlando, while touting his travel bans as keeping this under control.
he lied and claimed a week back that this would all be gone in 2 days! ignroance and denial are not leadership the country needs
the markets will remain in turmoil until a competent leader is in charge, or if the one in charge just gives them tons of socialist handouts, welfare for billionaires
republicans dont like needy American taxpayers on welfare, only billionaires that dont pay taxes should receive it
it was too easy to predict 4 years back, because all republicans put us into recession with their tax and spend welfare for tax free billionaires , wars, and oil
we are not prepared for this , My doctor told me they just got test kits in YESTERDAY, SMH
we need to vote for real leadership, someone with guts and intelligence to lead this nation, anyone but the orange Donald Mcdonald
narcissism , ignorance, denial, and passing the buck , isnt leadership
Stanger try the bear funds etfs, or the corona virus stocks, or risk losing most all of Your money to the no tax paying billionaires on welfare
once we have a stable and trustworthy president again, the country can recover
David — it is FUBAR for sure, but part of that is the health crisis. And you have to stop trying to get me to change my investments. Just not my style. Happy with cash heavy though right now.
Lmao
trump fiddles while america burns is funny to You? interesting
https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/486576-nero-trends-on-twitter-after-meme-trump-promoted-of-him-playing
trump loves the uneducated, they are easy to con, they will believe ANY lie as long as it comes from a racist liar
hopefully everyone here is way smarter than the very stable genius., and DONT believe a single one of his 16,000 lies
Yawn
thats your defense? lmao, figures
“America will never be a socialist country,” President Trump said as he launched his bid for re-election last week.
That declaration was an effort to frighten Americans and undermine growing support for expanding Medicare and Social Security—two popular programs that have long been derided as “socialist.” Mr. Trump’s declaration hypocritically ignores that he and his Republican colleagues are the nation’s leading purveyors of an insidious form of corporate socialism, which uses government power and taxpayer resources to enrich,,,,,
yea,,,,,, we know the rest of the story.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-is-the-worst-kind-of-socialist-11561589372
Americans need to ask themselves before voting again, do we REALLY want 4 more years of this shit?
and yea, people do have a right to be pissed off at the trump tiny mushroom sucker trumptards that are destroying America, its THEIR fault for not knowing how the shit show would end, when they should have known
obviously these shills hate being pointed out for being clueless and wrong, and will double down on lies and ignorance to defend the indefensible
but its not uniting the country, or making it great
this is a great country, but it does need great leadership to remain one
Yep. Country has been an absolute disaster with lowest unemployment in decades and the highest stock market ever until the corona scare. I don’t know what people have been doing with all that money. Maybe crying in it.
It’s usually the people who blame government for everything that happens because they can’t take responsibility for their own stupid decisions. I don’t care if Biden wins, my life won’t change much either way. I’m not going to panic. If Bernie wins, well, that might be a little different. Once he realizes that everything FREE means the money has to come from somewhere, the “middle class” along with everyone else who pays taxes is going to get slammed.
He doesn’t intend on delivering on that because even he knows he can’t. It’s a tell them what they want to hear move.
Bernie reminds me of the little girls in grade school running for class president. On Fridays everyone will get free pizza and ice cream, while we watch the butterflies…until they realize someone has to pay for free.
^^
The only difference between Bernie and Biden is Bernie is honest about how far left he is, and isn’t as corrupt, well at least he’s kept his corruption to himself and wife, while Biden’s goes all the way down the family tree.
Now that’s flexible! WOW
I love that color scheme.
log On to find David going all in on political spamming like a junk mail folder overwhelmed by E.D. Medication offers😂
Not all that different from your pussy’s playing with that dildo
That is called classical art!

You misspelled “classless” 😉
Definitely classical 😂
Clint Clearwater who writes for the Phinsiders had an interesting draft scenario in his last mock. 2 teams, Carolina traded up to 3 with the Lions to take Tua and the Chargers traded up to 4 with the Giants to take Justin Herbert, which means we come away with LB Isaiah Simmons. At #18 we trade back 2 spots, JAX takes Javon Kinlaw at #18 and we take A.J. Epenesa at #20. At #26 we take OT Josh Jones. I don’t think I’d have a problem if things fell this way.
Id tear shit up if we traded back and let Kinlaw go to someone else to take Epenesa
He doesn’t mention what we get back from the 2 spot trade back either.
I dont see it being enough to make that worth it.
Oh shit, that sucks about Von Sydow,. Man he was an amazing actor. I mean he was like 150 years old, but still sucks.
Asst. HC is an overrated position. I mean the HC calls the shots, assistant is there if there are “what do you think i should do here stuff” Flores doesnt seem to me to be the type to not be able to get that kind of support from the other coaches on his staff.
I miss all the best stuff when don’t show at like 4 AM. 🙂
Was great to see to M13 though.
M13? Where did you see him?
My bad….. maybe just hoping M13 shows up and putting out a tease.
I think ya got to say his name 3 times to invoke him, or maybe thats Bat.
Markey was here yesterday, that was cool
Was good to see him. Brings a spark to the place.
And Piggy brings the fart
As long as they arent here at the same time we should be ok then.
D — we’ll be cool either way. In fact better. Action keeps this place going.
You are too proper of a person sir to have picked up on my potty humor….. Farts, spark, explosions….singed butthairs…..
we can always rely on that retard that shits in macy’s changing room to show up and spout his fake news bullshit…..that’s always refreshing 🙂
So it’s official now, 4th RD for Ja’Wuan James and 7th RD for Cam Wake
https://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/20200310/nfl-awards-miami-dolphins-two-picks-in-april-nfl-draft?rssfeed=true
so is that still 14 draft picks to use or 16 total?
Fourteen
We knew we had 14, the only speculation was which RD’s they would be in. Now it’s final
ok, thanks.
Wow, 6 in top 70 picks and every round covered.
If we can’t get “our” guys, we need to find someone who can. While it’s not Flores’ job, I think Grier will welcome his input…..and probably needs to. I’m not convinced Grier’s the guy.
That being said, I’m all in on the rebuild. He’s done it the right way, imo. No half ass bullshit. All the way or not at all.
Now he needs to bring it home.
I cautiously like Dobbins, but have concerns over his production drop when not having a QB to run RPO. Still had over a 1,000yds w/ Haskins at WB, but his YPC dropped 2.6ypc from his freshman year then jumped back up 2.1ypc after Fields and his ability in the RPO came along. Big discrepancy, IMO, that has me more in favor of Taylor.
cool that it’s a 5th. That’s a Reshad Jones type chance.
I agree dbolt.
I like Dobbins, but Taylor is another tier up.
I think Cam Akers is the sleeper we want as our second RB pick, maybe in the 4th .
Swift or Taylor in the late 1st or early 2nd, then Akers or Dillon in the 4th or preferably the 5th.
We need RBs who strike fear in the defense. Make ’em scheme for us.
We need an OL for the team to succeed, whether it’s RB. QB, WRs.
Foundational football.
Then, d. Think edge first, but line ok, awesome lb, shut down cornet, ball hawk safety…..lol…BPA.
Everything!
Sorry. I should not do this.
So what do you say when the DOW sets the record gain right after you spout off with ignorant political rants based on the DOW dropping because of a virus. Asking for a friend.
Thank god….
I think the market has an intelligence I don’t quite understand.
However, to deny the “correction” or blow it off speaks to ignorance.
Leadership is one of those things….it makes a difference.
There’s no real understanding the market other than knowing it is purely speculative in the short run. Stanger has it right…you can’t react in the short term, except to buy when it dips then hold on for the long haul. Otherwise you’re just day-trading and the house almost always wins.
Naples,
I like Akers also…I have a preference for HBs who go against stacked boxes w/ little QB help. They’re forced to find their way through an entire D vs a good chunk of the D being occupied by another player.
Cool on the comp picks, I didn’t think we’d get the 4th for James. Thought we’d get two late picks for both him and Wake. I guess playing time doesn’t play much of a role in it. 🙂
We have so many draft picks we can stay where we are or move up and down and all around. 🙂
Greetings!
14 picks?
That’s like 2 drafts in one year.
Great opportunity to turn the franchise around. 🙂
Hopefully they don’t f it up.
the best part is that it is 3-1s, 2-2s a 3 etc
Miami Dolphins

246. Miami f/KC
251. Miami*
Good draft at a lot of positions too.
A draft like this with the cap space we have is very rare.
Can we actually carry 14 rookies? Probably not, so camp is going to be competitive. Maybe we trade some late picks for 2021.
Or trade up
I don’t mean the early picks
But I think maybe moving up from 3rd and 4th round
What if we can pick up another 2nd?
We have the picks to target special throughout the draft if we choose to go with quality over quantity. 14 could end up being 9. I’m not sure turning 14 into 17-18 is the way to go. We’ve already got a good draft in 2021 as well.
It’s possible between drafts picks and UDFAs. I expect around 20-25 new players. That obviously means about half of our team will be new in 2020. Maybe 10 new vets and 10-15 rooks. We’re not in a phase to go for it all but you never know how that will go down. Sports are so predictable.
Great point and I expect to see either that or some trade ups. I don’t see us even drafting 10 guys but the new CBA could change my thinking. Having up to 55 on game day and 12 on the practice squad means those lower picks could net some guaranteed lower level talent who don;t get to choose where they’d go. It’s still a huge number of guys and I just can’t see it.
Patriots get league-high four compensatory picks, including two third-rounders
Wow, that’s a surprise. 🙄
They know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away and know when to run. Them, the Ravens, the Steelers always let players walk and get compensated well for doing so. They never overpay 2nd or 3rd contracts
This wouldn’t be bad. T-T-T, Tua, Thomas and Taylor
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2020-nfl-mock-draft-colts-trade-up-for-qb-eagles-and-bills-get-aggressive-for-wrs-in-frenetic-first-round/
If this were to happen, we would have had to acquired some defensive help in FA.
I’m not buying Detroit, we don’t need to trade up to get Tua unless another team leap frogs us which i find unlikely.
detroit will draft Okuda as they desperately need CB help.
the Giants are not in the market for a QB and will probably take the BPA at 4, last time they traded up or back was to get Eli.
redskins will either take Tua or Chase Young.
no matter what there is no need to trade up to get Tua, if he’s there and you want him then pull the trigger, if not go to plan B.
you dont give up 2 first rnders for one player!
8 oz bottle of purell hand sanitizer on EBAY, $76.00, they should be arrested!
The person who buys it should be picked up and sent for mental health testing
people trying to profit from a crisis, EBAY should not allow that.
Ebay does have a gauging policy. You should report that item. You’d think they’d be all over that item though.
Rob – The trade up for Tua was our #5 and our 2nd RD pick #39. Not really a lot to get your franchise QB hopefully for a decade or so. I’d prefer not to trade up but that trade up wouldn’t kill me.
i just hate getting fleeced, you can’t focus on one player at all costs and i’m sure it will take more than #39 to make such a move, the chargers or another team may be interested in moving up with detroit among other teams, if i were miami i would throw out interest in Okuda to make detroit think about trading back and not getting their guy, in fact put okuda opposite X and we’ll have a great combo there. flores places high value on dbs, at any rate a great player will be there for us at 5 and we already have 2 qbs.
With anything close to 14 rookies drafted and making the team, it doesn’t make sense to go after top tier FAs. I mean what are you trying to accomplish a continued rebuild or just enough to sniff the playoffs? And you don’t do a complete rebuild in year 1, then abort the process in year 2. But of course you have the U75s of the world out there saying we will be signing top tier FAs.
I think we spend some in FA but I don’t think we buy a new team or get anyone who sets the market at their position.
When KC went from worst to first a few years ago they had 5 Probowlers on the team, just had some injuries. We’ve got next to nothing.
On O we’ve Parker, William’s, and Gesicki. On D we have Howard, Wilkins, and Baker. Not exactly a plethora of talent.
looking at last years trading action by grier i think it’s safe to assume we will be moving around in the draft whether that be up or down.
Steve – bringing in top tier young players makes sense, which is why in all my articles I didn’t list any FA’s older than 28
You don’t bring in top tier FAs until you’re ready to be a contender. Anything earlier is throwing cap space away.
when the season started it was scrambled eggs, the team was very new, players had limited game time exp with each other, the last 9 games we went 5-4.
i do believe there’s talent on this team and i think to blame lack of success on lack of talent is lame.
coaching is the difference between good teams and bad teams, not talent.
most of these “high priced” fa are a product of their environment. take arik armstead, how good will he be without bosa and the rest of their DL?
how about Tuhney? brady is great at knowing where he’s going before the play starts, he gets rid of the ball so quickly that the dl doesn’t have time to get to him yet you see tuhnney boasting about the fact he’s had little holding penaltys and sacks.
is he worth 12 mil per year at guard??
Not in my opinion, i would bring in Theuney at 8-pish, maybe 10, but thats as high as i go on him.
Id rather have Peat though, at the same rate.
Just one quick observation, he has K’Lavon Chaisson at #46. That’s waaaaaay down the list
he’ll never fall that far.
I’d like to draft him in the first.
I saw that. After Espenesa, Gross-Matos, Okwara, and Terrell Lewis?
Here is one of those smallish water bug RB’s we could draft late. He is not a short yardage guy for sure but has great vision, moves and lightning fast from New Mexico State. Runs in the 4.3’s. He’s 5’8″ 190 but put up 21 reps on the bench.
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=%e2%80%a2RB+Jason+Huntley+highlights&mkt=en-us&httpsmsn=1&msnews=1&refig=6162555479634603cfc3b714995634e5&sp=-1&pq=%e2%80%a2rb+jason+huntley+highlights&sc=0-28&qs=n&sk=&cvid=6162555479634603cfc3b714995634e5&ru=%2fsearch%3fq%3d%25E2%2580%25A2RB%2bJason%2bHuntley%2bhighlights%26form%3dIENTHT%26mkt%3den-us%26httpsmsn%3d1%26msnews%3d1%26refig%3d6162555479634603cfc3b714995634e5%26sp%3d-1%26pq%3d%25E2%2580%25A2rb%2bjason%2bhuntley%2bhighlights%26sc%3d0-28%26qs%3dn%26sk%3d%26cvid%3d6162555479634603cfc3b714995634e5&view=detail&mmscn=vwrc&mid=F675A9BEE1F9EC1B2653F675A9BEE1F9EC1B2653&FORM=WRVORC
Not surprised. I think he wasn’t tradable.
The question is do we get a comp pick for him next year?
No, doesn’t count when you release them.
Thanks. That’s what I thought, but I wasn’t sure.
Some say we need to add another TE. I’m on the fence about it since this is not a deep class so if you draft one late, he is going to be a project. You would need to draft one in 2nd or 3rd round. Would y’all spend our second 2nd round pick on TE Albert Okwuegbunam if he is still on the board to pair with Giesecki? He is 6’5″ 255 and ran a very fast 40 for his size at 4.49.
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Albert+Okwuegbunam+highlights&view=detail&mid=62C4337A61C7F1C719B962C4337A61C7F1C719B9&FORM=VIRE0&ru=%2fsearch%3fq%3dAlbert%2bOkwuegbunam%2bhighlights%26form%3dIENTHT%26mkt%3den-us%26httpsmsn%3d1%26msnews%3d1%26refig%3da2a84af5cf94430986235f2cb87ad008%26sp%3d-1%26pq%3dalbert%2bokwuegbunam%2bhighlights%26sc%3d1-29%26qs%3dn%26sk%3d%26cvid%3da2a84af5cf94430986235f2cb87ad008
Jacob Breeland 2019 Oregon Highlights
I don’t feel that they need another TE. They just started using the ones they have consistently.
That is kind of how I feel.
This sorta sucks — 20 minutes from my place. And on a busy Sunday this time of year more than 10k people can get off the ships.
“Florida health officials are asking anyone who recently traveled through Port Everglades to isolate themselves for 14 days if they start experiencing symptoms after three employees of a company that greets cruise ship passengers tested positive for the new coronavirus.”
People are crazy to get on a floating Petri dish right now. I don’t care how long ago it was planned or what it cost.
We’re in the process of cancelling our May sailing. We get credit for a future, before end of 2021, cruise.
Even if you don’t get sick, if someone on the ship does, your vacation is Fdup.
Yep. And you could end up stuck on the boat eating rapidly degrading food while waiting for the virus to rip through all on board. Plus everyone is starting to turn them away from ports.
steveccnv — don’t think you are the only one who made that choice. Can see Port Everglades off my balcony. Ships come in the morning, stock up, get the folks on and off, and leave in the early evening. Have a feeling some will be hanging out for days if not weeks.
Naples – I would take Chaisson in the 1st too, and I’d take him at #18
yep … he’s my number one at edge rucher
So we finally released Jones. I’ve been saying we should do that for a couple of years now. Not release but trade him while he still had decent value. Oh well . . .
Actually thought that wouldn’t happen given how his contract was set up. Maybe they are just giving him a chance to find another team.
Or they decided to take the hit while they were flush, rather than have him potentially blocking the progress of a young player.
Possible Phelon — or maybe they saw things in practice we didn’t or just didn’t like his attitude. He was a real solid player for us though.
Josh Jones is way down Pauline’s list too at #56, and he has him listed at G, not T
I disagree with that one, also.
Jones is raw, mainly because he’s had like 17 OL coaches,
but he has serious athletic skills to play the quick tackle.
I’d love to have him for the New NFL with mobile QBs
who can chip in with designed runs and RPOs.
I understand what you guys are saying about the TE position just finally being utilized correctly or at all post-Gase-ass, but we only have 2 3rd yr guys in Gesicki and Smythe, plus the project Myarick from last year’s PSquad. That’s extremely thin at the position.
We need another move TE or seam buster another semi OT type blocker and let Smythe out into the patterns more.
A team can’t go into the season with only 2 TEs on the 53 because then there is no sub for fatigue or injury, unless they are gonna count Wilkins or the FB.
Who couldn’t see this one coming?
“Retired football star Rob Gronkowski signed a deal with WWE. The former New England Patriots tight end “officially” entered a contract with the pro wrestling organization and will make his debut on Fox’s “SmackDown” March 20.”
gronk? yawn
I agree with you guys on Reshad above.
Seemed to me like he was a Peter Principle type player.
He’d achieved his ceiling, and he and the coaches knew it.
He had a nice run, but when a guy is maxed out talent-wise and then loses a step,
that’s pretty much it for him.
Bellicheat always knew that moment and let those guys walk
and picked up the comps to replace them..
A 5th round over-achiever can be replaced by a 4th – 5th round comp pick.
If it’s just a couple 3 each year, the new guys can be integrated into the system smoothly.
That’s how NE reloads with no loss in momentum.
He would be on this team if we were really thinking about competing. But the windows just didn’t match up. And yeah that probably includes him on his way down the other side of the mountain.
Disagree that a 5th round overachiever can be replaced by a 4-5th comp pick. Those guys are rare you can’t expect to find one just wherever. The fact that it’s downhill for him at this point is a true statement. Could have possibly stuck with him another year or so but the time to get out and also let him have his chance to land on a contender is now. No reason to drag it out.
You can disagree with me all you want, no problem. I know nothing.
I was citing the Master, the Evil Genius. Hard to disagree with his achievements.
I’ll go with Bill Bellichick’s record on replacing good players and maintaining a high level on the field. He seems to have no trouble finding a guy to replace Ty Law or Mike Vrabel or the WR he stole from us. (Welker) Or the LB. And he cashes the comps.
He coached multiple marginal or star players up beyond their talent then ditched them the year before they faded and found anouther one. RB, WR, DB, LB, OL, edge,
even Bledsoe. Found Brady in the 6th.
Did a quick mock on draft network and came out with this.
My Picks
5 Tua Tagovailoa, QB
18 A.J. Epenesa, EDGE
26 Jonathan Taylor, RB
39 Cesar Ruiz, IOL
56 Ashtyn Davis, S
70 Ezra Cleveland, OT
141 Ben Bredeson, IOL
153 Anfernee Jennings, EDGE
162 Lamical Perine, RB
173 Devin Duvernay, WR
185 Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR
197 Lavert Hill, CB
246 Jacob Breeland, TE
251 Robert Windsor, IDL
Think the team definitely increased physicality here.
Then we could have TWO Perines @ RB at the same time!!!!
QUIZ OF THE DAY– What player currently on the roster has been with the team the longest?
No search and not if you read today rules in effect.
My guess would be Parker
Nope — but a good guess.
Oi! I would guess Bobby McCain?
Or Walt Aikens.
DING DING DING for Phelon, even if needed two guesses.
It’s Walt Aikens at 6 years.
McCain
Reshad Jones was a really good player for this team. One of the best, actually, if you look at his stats. Best of luck to him. It will not be easy to replace what he did when healthy. He’s an aging vet who probably isn’t a good fit for this team right now, so I have no problem with the move. But, he will definitely be hard to replace.
Ive always said this about Reshad, he is one time when you call a player a hybrid you are talking about him doing both things very well. Really high football IQ, and has instincts you cant teach. Do i feel its still a good parting time, yes, but we aren’t replacing him with just any dude from any place, we are going to have to aim high if we want someone right off that can somewhat fill his shoes.
Cool, that was my only ?? as he was not used much that way. I liked what I saw from him in drills at the combine. He has good hands.

Aikens is actually not on the roster, he’s a FA.
You beat me on that one — was going off what read in an article. So maybe Parker is right.
Could Aikens have signed or maybe he is just not officially a FA yet? Team still has him on their roster link.

Not in my opinion, i would bring in Theuney at 8-pish, maybe 10, but thats as high as i go on him.

He will be over paid, he won’t take your call unless you are in the $$market for his services.
12 is top guard contact, he isn’t a top guard. I wouldn’t pay 12
Stanger – He’s not listed on spotrac.com as signed. They are very up to date
Thinking he just officially hasn’t become a FA yet…. like he will when the league year turns over. So still clinging to the hope that what I put out is correct. 🙂
LOL – Didn’t mean to sandbag ya, just knew he was a FA. 🙂
De nada.

I agree with us being nice and giving Reshad a chance by cutting him early.
However,

Yea, I guess we should be prepared for some changes to the draft next month.

Thats what i was saying in my reply, can you, yes, but is it likely, not even close. You are also talking about a man who may be the best coach in football history (im sure OD and a few others will light me up for saying that) so he is really good at finding the right guys for his systems, we havent had anyone that has shown the ability to consistently do that and neither have man other teams. I didnt mean it to sound like an attack or anything, but i do not believe that you can have the expectation of replacing any starting quality player with a mid round guy, with any sort of certainty.
gotcha
It’s the Dem’s and libs and fake news. None of this is real! Oh my!
I do think the stoked flames of panic are kind of ridiculous, but none of the facts of it being here and it being a concern isnt real.
Krishna every thinking person knows just a Hoax.
Rashad is not the future….win, win for all at this point.
My guess is the draft will be done with all participants remote and likely no one in attendance, and some compensation made to them for havinf to cancel the event. I just dont see with as much that is being cancelled, big big events, Cochella for example, that the NFL draft will not be at least get a modified venue
Goodell himself would infect the entire first round of draft picks with his bear hugs.
Not surprised we’re moving on from Reshad Jones. Hopefully he’ll end up on a contending team after years of being on mediocre and bad teams.
Watching Nuggets vs Mavericks, Doris Burke is announcing. Now I know why I hate Booger McFarland. Everything out of his mouth, just like Doris, is ass kissing, and I FN hate it. Just announce the game quit trying to be everyone’s best friend.

I have not paid a ton of attention to this but have heard that more people have died in US from regular Flu this year than all of the world from CV… and average age of CV deaths is 80 ish …
Again maybe I’m weird/naive Or living a sheltered life …dunno something don’t make sense ….

As for the Football world .. sucks about Jones , but he has not been healthy the last two years .. was a helluva player prior to that and that will be missed , but yes time to move on … best wishes to him unless he plays AFCE..
Toba, the Democrats released this virus to kill all the old while republican men. Thats all ya really need to know about the virus.

Are they really “while”
Well, i dunno, but some identify that way so i didn’t want to offend.
tom hanks has corona virus
LOL D – That theory may gain some traction at some point
Hmmm, Gotta get Ruiz, Cush, or Hennessy. I bet they target Ruiz.
And that was one spot I thought we didn’t need to fill. Gonna be at least 3 new starters on the line, maybe 4. And 5 could even happen.
Good article about the Reshad release. Shows hoe f’ed Mike Tannenbaum is and how he destroyed the Jets for years. Goo thing they got rid of him when they did.
https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/reshad-jones-miami-dolphins-released
BBM — if Jones had stayed healthy wouldn’t have been a huge deal. The restructure — now that can go on Tannenbaum. Risk of it was the dead money we’re about to pay Jones.
