The 2021 schedule is out, and I think our much improved team should have an exciting season. I think we covered 2 serious spots that needed an upgrade. WR was the position I felt we just had to improve and drafting Jaylen Waddle accomplished that. The familiarity that Waddle and Tua have is just one small part of the equation, We so desperately needed a talent upgrade, and I think the type of receiver Waddle is is the perfect complement to our current WR corps. DeVante Parker has the talent, and we’ve seen him take over games. We’ve also seen him fight through nagging injuries and not be able to give the team his usual production. In free agency we signed former Texans WR Will Fuller. Well, Fuller has yet to play a full 16 game schedule, and hey, now we play 17! In 5 seasons, he played 53 games and missed 27. Hopefully Waddle will be the steady performer week in and week out. His home run ability from anywhere on the field will help Tua, because he can take a short pass a long way and can also take the top off the defense with his deep speed. Add in Preston Williams, Lynn Bowden Jr., Allen Hurns, Albert Wilson, Mack Hollins, Jakeem Grant, Kirk Merritt and Robert Foster and we have legit depth. Unfortunately for Jakeem Grant, Jaylen Waddle may push Grant off the roster because Waddle is an excellent return man in his own right. Grant was electric, but his bobbles on both punt returns and kick returns were hard to watch.
On defense we brought in exactly what we needed. Some say Jaelan Phillips is the best pure pass rusher in this draft. The best part about Phillips is he already has an arsenal of pass rush moves, he’s not just an “Underwear Olympics” thriller. He is fast, quick and explosive as well and did perform well at his pro day, but his technical skills are what separate him from some of the others. The trade to bring Benardrick McKinney from the Texans solidified the middle of the defense. Both he and Jerome Baker can stop anything in front of them or chase to the sidelines just as easily. Andrew Van Ginkel and Jaelan Phillips will bring the rush from the outside, and our young talented D-line with one more year of experience under their belts, Christian Wilkins (LDE), Raekwon Davis (NT), and Emmanuel Ogbah (RE) should be even better this season.
Our secondary which was already formidable, got an early present in the form of S Jevon Holland. The Dolphins released S/DB Bobby McCain last week, so it’s clear the Dolphins felt they needed to upgrade. Holland will probably play some safety and slot corner, places where over the years McCain played both. Nik Needham filled in last season and held his own pretty well but the Dolphins are looking for better. With CB’s Xavien Howard and Byron Jones the Dolphins already have one of the premier CB tandems in the NFL. Holland will solidify the coverage both tight and deep. McCain often gave far too much of a cushion which led to easy shorter completions and also struggled covering deep as well. Holland should help there.
As far as the schedule is concerned, we open in NE to face a better Patriots team than last year’s version. Whether the QB is Cam Newton or Mac Jones, this team is getting a few players back that opted out due to C-19 last season. OT Marcus Cannon, LB Dont’a Hightower, S Patrick Chung and at least 5 others are back with the team. Then we face the Division Champs, the Buffalo Bills at home. The Bills went hard on defense in the draft bringing in 2 pass rush prospects, Gregory Rousseau and Carlos Basham Jr. Like the Dolphins, I expected them to draft a RB but the Bills passed altogether. Then we travel across the country to face the Vegas Raiders in a game they will undoubtedly be looking to avenge a tough loss last season, the Ryan Fitzpatrick game save with the unforgettable head twist pass to Mack Hollins. We follow that with a home game against a very tough opponent, the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts traded for QB Carson Wentz and drafted defense in their first 2 picks. They were a good team last season with Philip Rivers and have potential to be even better with a healthy Carson Wentz. We then stay in state to face the SB Champion Tampa Bay Bucs. The Bucs managed to keep everyone from last season plus added LB Joe Tryon in the draft. Tough game. Hopefully the lack of travel helps us here as we then have two road games in a row as we face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Road games but short travels in both. The Jaguars were awful last season but were rewarded with one of the best QB prospects in a decade or so, Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence will have to be extraordinary to help this team.
Our next home game is against the visiting Atlanta Falcons. Defense has been Atlanta’s weakness but their offense got a whole lot better after drafting TE Kyle Pitts. Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Hayden Hurst and now add Kyle Pitts. Tough to defend this team. Then comes the rematch with the Bills at Orchard Park, so no breaks for the defense with the Falcons and Bills back to back. We then play the Texans who may be without their QB DeShaun Watson, depending on how the NFL rules on his conduct. Then we face the Baltimore Ravens, a team we always struggle against. For some sobering perspective, the last 3 times we faced the Ravens we have been outscored 137-16 in 3 truly embarrassing losses. This is followed by a very late season first game with the NY Jets. The Jets will be led by new QB Zack Wilson and likely an improved O-line. We then travel to Carolina to face a former Jet in new Panthers QB Sam Darnold. Jets and former Jets.
For the last 1/3 of the season, the Dolphins host the NY Giants. The Giants made a big splash in FA landing WR Kenny Golladay and then doubled down in the draft with WR Kadarius Toney. QB Daniel Jones should be smiling. Week 14 will be our much needed BYE Week. We then face the Jets again. That’s 3 games against NY teams in 4 weeks. Then we travel to Nawlins to face the new look Saints. For the first time in 15 years, it will not be Drew Brees behind center. Taysom Hill be running the offense now. A difficult game follows that as we travel to Tennessee to battle the Titans and former Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill. We finish the season off with a home game against the New England Patriots.
Hard to say right now how we end up this season. If QB Tua Tagovailoa improves as I believe he will, I think our team can play with anyone. Sure, I wanted an upgrade at RB and still do, but with better QB play and what I believe will be a better defense than even last season, we should be able to scratch out 11-13 wins. It’s not inconceivable. Our offense will be better and that should also take some pressure off our defense. 2021 is a going to be a playoff season for us. How far we go, I can’t tell you but I do believe we will be making the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when we got stopped by the Pittsburgh Steelers with Matt Moore at the helm for our Dolphins with Ryan Tannehill out with 2 torn knee ligaments. Time to get back on that Playoff horse!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

I’d assume somebody like Phillips has experience in every stance at some point in his football life. It is basic stuff you usually learn as a kid. Even as a nose guard I’d stand up and wait until the OL got set, took a quick look and then got down in my stance…not always at all but sometimes. I’d get in a 3 point stance with my arm cocked back like I was coming out of the blocks and then power him straight into his chest….or be there in my 4 point stance waiting as the center gets over the ball like I was going for power and then whip a nasty swim move on him. There are tons of things you do to set guys up, especially when you start adding in all the stuff you do for other guys on games you run. It’s a great feeling when you know they know you can beat them.
Randy — as always you give a great insider’s look on line play. You did surprise me on this one by saying you played nose guard. Based on all the convos before thought you were on the OL. Or did you go both ways, so to speak? 🙂
MF< i like Phillips also, i think the Dolphins nailed the draft pretty good'
got BPA for the picks, AND got players we needed. im sure all of us would have liked to seen another guy or two we wanted, but there is enough in the draft to improve this team IMO
with 9 home games this year, im hoping we can get 11 wins overall and make the wild card playoff round
I honestly don’t care about home games vs away games. If we’re winners, we’re WINNERS. We should be able to win, regardless. And should we be able to make another Super Bowl appearance, we’re most likely to play away.
If our team is good enough to pass the test, we’ll have to be road-warriors.
Just win!
we def need to win on the road too, lol
im excited to get an extra home game this year, it will help
half the teams got 9 home games, and the other half got 8, so we lucked out this year
its also a break the Fins dont have to go ice skating in Buffalo in January
The Dolphins took Phillips with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The team officially lists him as a linebacker, but he’s also learning the role of defensive lineman.
Phillips addressed reporters on Saturday.
Phillips said that he hasn’t had the chance to meet Hall of Famer Jason Taylor yet, but he’d love to.
“He’s a legend,” Phillips said. “Definitely love to pick his brain and get some advice from him whenever I can meet him… I definitely remember growing up watching him play so that would be amazing to meet him for sure.”
https://www.local10.com/sports/2021/05/15/jaelan-phillips-focuses-on-learning-several-roles-for-miami-dolphins/
MF, one of the places that Miami has really struggled lately is Tampa.
hopefully this year the Dolphins learn how to get a W , out of that god awful stadium
and not just lately either, its been a long time since Miami won in Tampa, if ever
They’ve become a very strong team, seemingly overnight with the FA signing of Tom Lady* last offseason. It’s going to be a VERY difficult game to win.
But if we can beat their asses, sky will be the limit for Tua and company.
i looked, Miami beat Tampa in their stadium in 1988, and in 1976, thats it
true that!
There will be surprise roster cuts from every team in the coming weeks, and presumably months.
The one thing that ALL of us Phins fans can hope for is… NO INJURIES.
For those who missed it (somebody posted it here a week or two ago), Ju’Wuan James got funked up for the Broncos, and will miss the entire 2021 season… and he was subsequently released by the Broncos yesterday.
i saw that, tough break for them
one of the things that hurt us last year was lack of quality WR
it was in the video above also
Williams got injured, and all defenses had to do was double Parker, nobody was scared of Hollins and the rest
this year will be VERY different, the Fins are loaded at WR, lol and have plenty of TE also
Williams will have a hard time making the field this year, i dont think he or Hollins will start anymore
Waddle didnt run the 40 at his pro day, and he ran a 4.37 in high school, which is incredible for a high school athlete
but i cant find any times on him since, only some reports that he was a shade faster than Henry Ruggs, his teammate in Alabama, who ran a 4.27
if so, he is one of the fastest WR to ever play in the league, and appears to have Mark Duper speed or better
stanger,
When I played in high school….after we cleared the dinosaurs from the field…we played both ways. I much preferred playing defense over OL. Way more fun.
I’m starting to like that other kind of football. ⚽️ 🥅 #goherd #collegecup
Ooooo! Herd against my Hoosiers!
I wasn’t aware of your Hoosier allegiance. This makes it more fun! 💚
Yeah, I went to HS in north central Indiana after bouncing around as a military brat then leaving in 82′ myself for the military. I am gonna have to tune in 😉
its a big challenge for rookies, so much to learn, but i like this guy, he seems like he really wants to absorb it all , and be prepared to play wherever the team needs him
I like his demeanor. He seems to fit what Flores likes in players. Don’t say too much but go out and work.

Ewe, where’s all the hills, mountains and trees?
Wow. That’s a great view AND a terrace. Sounds fancy…you know, for a pig.
j/k. Congrats!
where are the piglets, lol cool view though
Nice!
M13, in just 30 hours TM has gotten over 2.3 mil views and added over 150K new subscribers.
IMO, this was a VERY smart marketing investment by TM. He was being hated on by EMINEM’s fanbase, “Stans”, because others were comparing the two of them. Why not win them over with a sort of tribute and thank you to EMINEM. Afterall, EMINEM turns 50 in 2 years.
WINNING!!! TM knows how to do biz!
BBL
*tumbleweeds*
This kind of a mess, but you should be able to follow how many yards Parker had after the 1st jets game when Williams got hurt.
Contrary to the video ORob posted, that said, Parkers numbers were inflated, because we were always playing from behind.
Parker was great the 2nd half, when we went 5-4 after Williams went down.
He struggled in 2020, because of Tua.

these are 2019 games, do You have the 2020 stats?
Fitzpatrick beat out Rosen in 2019, not Tua
steveccnv says:

Parker was great the 2nd half, when we went 5-4 after Williams went down.
He struggled in 2020, because of Tua.
_________________________________________________
they all struggled because of tuas inability to get the ball downfield, when he was in the pocket for any length of time it looked like a boy amongst men.
when fitz was inserted it looked like a different offense.
can tua improve? it will take a whole lot of improvement, we shall see.
good thing we got brissett to fall back on.
brisset wont see the field, Tua will be great
Tua gets blamed for 2019 stats? he wasnt here in 2019
Comprehension issues?
The facts don’t lie, that’s what they show comparing Tua to Fitz.
You could also say Parker broke out after getting away from Tannehill.
Facts vs projection
orob bitching about Tua for the 10 billionth time
cmon dude, even You should be tired of it by now
ORob is the energizer bunny when it comes to Tua hate
lol the energizer bunny had a heart attack, and died , but orob keeps going, and going
Good morning Dolphins fans!! I’m really excited to see our team this season.
me too, gonna b a great Year IMO’
a playoff year!
Not if I have to watch Jacoby Brissett play
lol agreed
Tua will start
Orob , we are painfully aware You hate Tua and the Dolphins, but Brisset is not the answer at QB for Miami
he only completed 25 percent of his passes last season, which was his 5th season in the NFL
Tua exceeded that in his rookie year!
if you are confident in a guy like Jacoby that had a terrible 5th season, then You should be on board with TUa, who did much better than that as a ROOKIE coming off a major hip injury
lets see where Tua is after his fifth season
i wish i had put a penny in a 5 gallon bucket every time he bitched about Tua
i could take the bucket to a coinstar machine every month and turn it into at least $50 a month, thats $6000 a year, minus the coinsource fees, lol
*$600 a year
Leaning towards screw STs WRs, want to keep Parker, Fuller, Waddle, Williams, Wilson and Bowden or Foster
With that much depth we won’t have to worry too much week to week about injuries
I think I’m going to enjoy the offense this season, but the defense is what I really want to see.
do we have a top ten defense, in your opinion?
I think we should. We have one of the best secondaries and they added talent there. Ogbah was good in the beginning of the season to the middle but teams focused on him and took him out. They won’t be able to do that with Phillips in the mix. I’d also like to see if AVG can make an even bigger impact, and maybe Biegel too.
awesome , hopefully we can continue getting alot of turnovers also
Improved special teams will be the best indicator since the quality of ST is often equated with the depth of the team.
This team is deep. One thing we have at this point in the build up. Got quality to come in no matter who goes down.
Are we a top 10 defense? I say we have the talent and potential to be. Last season we were 6th in points allowed 20th in yards allowed, first in take aways, 2nd in passing TD’s 16th in rushing yards.
We were a bend don’t break opportunistic defense last year. I think if they can stay healthy, the team will be better with the younguns getting more coaching and practice.
We spent so many years trying to match up against NE and now we need to worry more about Buff.
We strengthened the middle with Jenkins and McKinney as well as re-signing Elandon Roberts. I don’t think we’ll be as easy to run on and Phillips helps there too. Maybe Jevon Holland makes a big impact as a slot corner and safety. I like Needham, I think he’s a gamer. Maybe not the most talented guy but an overachiever. I like guys like that.
yeah, when he came in and won the spot as a rookie I was against the move. It seemed any time there was a big play it was over him. Then as the season progressed you could see, ACTUALLY SEE in real time his improvement. He is a plugger. Maybe never be a star but always a good team contributor
We are a top ten D, or at least should be. Not your grandfather’s version though. Could end up we are among the leaders in points allowed but not yards, just like last year. It’s the Pat’s scheme.
We should be spinning the heads in opposing secondaries.

Looks good through the air, let’s just hope we can establish a ground game to complement.
👍Agree with M
OL is stouter and a year better. Run game should at least improve, especially with a better passing game.
Yessir, MR. Miguel de la E!
And I agree with MR. Stanger as well… it would seem our O-Line will be even better this year. I just hope our stable of RBs can make it happen on the ground.
Other than a couple of concussions, what injury history does Jaelan Phillips have? He played last year with no issues so I’m not sure we should be concerned about anything from the past. Lots of football players get their bell rung.
Okay I see he had ankle and wrist injuries at UCLA. Hopefully that’s nothing lingering and he’s a stronger man now.
10/24 vs Falcons is looking like the Fest game. I am looking forward to seeing the crew then
Whatever the date hope a bunch of people come. Been a lot of folks we’ve been looking to be there for years. And it doesn’t cost that much for one of the greatest times of the year.
If anyone wants to go the Fest, but hasn’t yet voted, please do so on the poll right under last year’s schedule. Thank you! The sooner we have a date the easier it will be to start making travel plans for everyone, including those people who live in the great state of FLA.
I voted for my preference , but no clue if will be able to travel without a post trip quarantine yet …. will touch base when we get the okay
I was explaining this to Dana earlier. How long do they expect that to go on? It’s nuts!
No clue… province just re closed restaurants, gyms and patios last weekend up to June 1 so far … still have to quarantine 2 weeks if we go to another province … no word on if, when, how they plan to ease those never mind internationally
Things have turned around from when we had it and you guys didn’t. You folks getting vaccinated? Seems that the solution on this.
Stanger : Yes WE have 1st shots a week ago .. vaccination rate is less than 50% provincial… talking 75% with 40% 2nds before they EASE restrictions
Mike Florio just can’t help himself with this . . . Honestly, I love to listen to WQAM to get a fix of Dolphins but man do I hate that Joe Rose freaking loves this guy. I am beyond tired of hearing his bullshit about DeShaun Watson to the Dolphins. I think it’s a pile of steaming crap and he should just drop it already. Anyway, just my take . . .
https://dolphinstalk.com/2021/05/16/mike-florio-on-a-deshaun-watson-post-settlement-trade-to-miami-or-philly/
Watson is gonna get a year of sit out. Not saying will happen, but only possible like that is Rodgers.
I’ve stated it since day one on Omar’s blog (SS): Mike Florio is a punk.
I’m tired of it too and I don’t want drama with our team. We’ve had enough over the years and this team is in a good place now building the right way. Stay the course.
NO ONE outside of the household is allowed in either house or backyard … max group of 5 outdoors (parks) allowed
But from what you said before sounds like Canada will be well vaccinated by the time the Fest comes. Travel protocols will reflect that.
I am hoping so … it has been a slow go getting needles into arms so far …
Tua’s arm strength is more than adequate. To me his issue last year was not being 100% physically or mentally and it’s not like we had the best personnel. This offense is still being built. He showed that he can make NFL throws a bunch of times. Now that he’s healthy and able to get stronger physically, he needs his confidence in himself at 100%. I expect a much improved Tua this year. We’re also doing our best to put better players not just around him, but anyone that has to play QB. All QBs need good players around them to succeed. That’s obvious.
This dude comes off as a pretty serious guy and not someone you’d want to piss off. LOL
https://www.miamidolphins.com/video/t-liam-eichenberg-talks-2021-rookie-minicamp-press-conference
I love that we came away with an OT in the first couple of rounds
I think this guy is going to make an immediate impact
Yep! He reminds of the type of OL the Pats would draft. Serious and no nonsense. I saw him in an interview pre-draft on NFLN and he came off to me as someone who doesn’t like silly questions and is a hard-nosed type of person and player.
I like this guy and will be rooting for him. It’s interesting that he was given so much money guaranteed for a UDFA to make sure we got him. The coaches must see something in him.
https://www.miamidolphins.com/video/g-robert-jones-talks-2021-rookie-minicamp-press-conference
Drafting TE Hunter Long in the 3rd round is an obvious sign that we want to be strong at the position. The theme I get from prospects we’ve drafted and vet FAs we’ve signed since Grier and Flores attached themselves at the hip are, smart guys who love football. Of course talent is a big part of it, but I see a lot of mental toughness and intelligence being a priority. Nobody shoots off their mouth saying I’m great or I need this or that. MFF was an example of that and he’s gone. They’re all workers who want to improve their craft. We don’t acquire me type players.
https://www.miamidolphins.com/video/te-hunter-long-talks-2021-rookie-minicamp-press-conference
No quarantine necessary in Connecticut if you are vaccinated. I suspect by October that will be the rule nationwide. I can’t speak for Canada though
Each province is mandating their own over and above federal.. Manitoba seems strictest.. problem is we are 60 miles from US border, and 90 miles to Ontario border, neither we can cross and a LOT of Winnipeg people have cottages just inside Ontario… not a lot of room to move around. North is wide open but nothing up there …
How are cases there? Numbers in the states seem to be stabilizing. The vaccine seems to have made a big impact. Travel is coming back. I am actually about to book our first vacation to the islands since 2019
Remember we are a city of 1 million and province max 2 mil(guesses) current cases 491 new cases Friday , 1010 deaths , 36700 recovered …
Here is officials :
Family Home.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 12.3 per cent provincially and 14.1 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30 a.m. today, 534 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, two cases have been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 532 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 45,149.

He’s 24 years old and still playing his ass off. Maybe we found special in the 7th round in 2019. Maybe we like Ahmed and the addition of Brown too. Doaks has to work hard to be #4. But he looks the part.
I actually looked at Gaskin extensively his junior year at Washington
I thought he would come out then and thought highly of him
But he stayed in another year
And then it’s gets to be a lot of wear and tear on the tires
You can see how his YPC decreased
But that said, it would not be off the wall or Gaskin to play like a day 1 or 2 talent in this league
I’m pretty convinced he would have been drafted higher if he came out as a junior
Basically he’s better than most people think
I just think we can use more talent at the position
Still holding out hope we sign a vet
There’s a lot of time to add a RB between now and week 1
why does everyone want to see the 4-12 Falcons when we can see the 11-5 colts?
doesn’t make sense.
It’s about timing for me not the match up
I actually prefer the Colts game to the Texans game
I would have been on board with either
In an ideal world Gaskins is a specialty back. A 3rd down and pass catcher which is where I think he excels
He’s a little more talented than just a scat back type
For me my question has always been whether he will hold up
He had a lot of carries on college
^
He’s an all around back, he’s just a little light
…so he isn’t going to log 300 carries and why we have 4 backs to share the load.
Backs will be used based on matchup, just like other positions other than QB, OL, and CB
Was at VGK game today, still looking for first playoff goal for
With 7 minutes left the Lightning score to make it 4-4, every playoff game so far has gone to OT
YOU DIDN”T THINK THESE GUYS (the Bolts) WERE JUST GOING TO roll over and PLAY DEAD DID YOU??? DOWN 6 injured players a week ago, the Tampa Bay Lightning won the historic first playoff game ever played against the Florida Panthers with a heart-pounding come-from-behind 5-4 win in a raucous BB&T Arena in Sunrise. Braydon Point’s breakaway goal with just over a minute to play was THE WINNER!!!
—————–
THIS PLAYOFF CONTEST was BETTER than any single playoff game I saw in last season’s Stanley Cup winning performance by Tampa Bay. IT HAD EVERYTHING!!! But WHO would have thought that the two best Russian goalies in the NHL would give up a total of 9 goals??–NOT ME!!
—————-
GOTTA walk the greyhound and get my ugly rest!!
Might take a couple of extra minutes to fall asleep tonight!
KUCHEROV MISSES THE ENTIRE SEASON and scores 2 goals tonight!
WOW!!!
Lol, because some U75 said so
Don’t even think the 2020 FAs we signed were a mistake.
They helped get us to 10-6, if that’s a mistake so be it.
Flores wants to improve on issues we had in 2020, he felt the best way to do that was getting rid of KVN, Lawson and others.
Some of the issues came from week 17, not sure how he could’ve known what Buffalo turned into before the season.
If the 2021 FA class helps get us to a better record I’ll consider that a success too

Which really makes him a 3rd down or rotational back imo.
3rd down back suggests he can’t run between the tackles, but that isn’t the case.
Rotational back is what he is.
This isn’t 1990 most teams use a rotational backfield
Has anyone watched the game changer, on Netflix?
it has 3 former Dolphins on it , and its about how athletes get alot more performance from their bodies with changes in their diet
we arent athletes like the Fins, but we also can get huge benefits from committing to a healthier diet
it doesnt seem fun at first, but after only 2 days, im feeling 10 years younger on it, and now it seems easy and sustainable
I look at Gaskins as Tony Nathan 2.0. He does a little bit of everything and does it well but is not really a feature back
thats actually a good compare , that described Nathan well
Quite the praise, Nathan was a he’ll of a back, but didn’t really run between the tackles like Gaskin does.
Saw a film study yesterday on Gaskin where the guy was saying how he’s always fighting for the extra yard and falling forward when brought down.
Think the praise was a bit much, but it did show it happening quite a bit, so he does run well between the tackles.
Why do we need a feature back? Most teams don’t have one.
With a feature back you tend to run the ball too much, which wears the back down by year’s end, then when he gets hurt and misses a few games you’re screwed.
Of course there’s some exceptions with Henry, but he’s a generational type RB, even Zeke, Cook, Barkley and other feature backs are hurt a lot
Don’t get me wrong Steve I love Gaskins. I love how hard he plays but I don’t want to see him running between the tackles 15 times a game because I think he won’t be able to take the pounding but I like him on the field in critical downs and I love him as a pass catcher
Five Days, Five Ironmans: EPIC5 Launches On May 5 On Kauai
On May 5 Jason Lester and Richard Roll will swim, ride and run into an exploit no human has attempted: five Ironman-distance triathlons in five days. That’s 560 miles of cycling, 12 miles of swimming and 131 miles of running. Lester, 35, and Roll, 44, will will do each stage on a different Hawaiian island.
they are game changers, a healthy diiet allows them to complete 5 ironmans in a week, something never attempted before
correction, it has been done before, but only by these two guys
Tua taking the next step:
Expect to see more of a Josh Allen type of year 1 to year 2 jump, then an Allen year 2 to year 3 jump this year.
He should be better just, because the team is better. The D seems to have sured up 4 of its biggest weaknesses. The O it’s biggest weaknesses in WR and OL.
Don’t expect Tua to be a gunslinger or anything close, expect him to throw a lot of quick hitting slants and some Waddle bubble screens, then the occasional deep ball with some intermediate passes mixed in. Bread and butter will be the slant and other quick short passes.
Week 1 may be a struggle going against Belicheat, but as the weeks go on expect to see him pick it up quite nicely. D may be the key to victory week 1, can’t let Cam and the RBs run wild like last year.
Brady was spoon fed early in his career, expect Tua to get the same.
We saw Tua last year take us to the verge of the playoffs, this year he should get us there, but his career will be defined by if he can take us further.
Really looking forward to seeing how our dual OCs change the O to fit Tua’s strengths. It will have as much to do with this year’s success as anything else.
We saw NE in year’s past use a quick passing game as a running game effectively, expect to see that with Tua, if needed
We know Tua had issues last year pulling the trigger, but don’t think it’s a one fix solution.
We’ve heard his height/low release point and weak arm was said to be the issue, but combine that with the mental part of the game and his hip injury and think that describes it a little better.
The weak arm should be good enough with another year of hip healing allowing him to get more torque, he’s been working on release point, so those things should be better, that leaves the mental part.
At Bama it was a strength and allowed him to succeed, the NFL however is a lot different, very few have actually mastered it, but once they have, they’ve become elite.
Tua’s road to success will depend on his ability to quickly read a D and go through his progressions like he did at Bama.
The physical stuff don’t think will be a problem, because his quick release and accuracy are superb.
Keep hearing how he’s working with his receivers in the offseason and that’s great, but what is he doing about the mental part?
Tua has everything he needs to be great, can he master the mental part? If not it won’t be for lack of effort
I don’t get the weak arm stuff you keep harping about. Tua’s arm is just fine
Glad we didn’t draft him

#Jaguars coach Urban Meyer told reporters that first-round RB Travis Etienne will take all of his minicamp reps at WR. “Worst case scenario you have a running back that’s elite with receiver skills,” Meyer said. Similar, it seems, to Le’Veon Bell in his prime.
He’s more Drake without as much speed
Awake with JP, feels like this one is directed toward one of our blog posters. LOL
Half
SMH
At Bama Waddle averaged 9.8 yards after the catch per reception.
Tua had a completion percentage of 74%, 137.9 passer rating and 16.6 yards per completion when throwing to Waddle.
He could have the same in the NFL if we played the jets every week
That’s all impressive but it was still college and Alabama. What we need to see this year is a stronger Tua and a more confident Tua. The rehabbing and lack of reps last year won’t be an issue this year. I think he’ll perform on a much higher level this season.
Patch together those numbers and sorta gives you an idea of what Tua was used to and why we saw what we saw last year. A whole bunch of hard and accurate throws inside 10 yards. He was waiting for Waddle to catch one and break it.
I think a lot of it was he didn’t want to make mistakes and I don’t think he was a 100% confident in his body. That’s why I think we will see a different beast this season. Tua threw plenty of impressive passes down the field beyond 10 yards last year, but we also had pass pro issues and separation issues at WR. I think both of those issues should be better this year. The entire offense should be better this year.
I’m pretty happy by those numbers. Have visions of Tua’s passes from last year going for serious yardage. And he doesn’t have to change a thing on them.
Get that interior threat going and should open up the options deeper, especially with a guy like Fuller there. And with those threats in place all of a sudden Parker isn’t doubled all the time.
Tua had some deep passes that were dropped by grant, i can think of one that would have been a really long TD
and also that long pass that Tua hit williams, but Williams couldnt keep his feet , or that ones to the house too
better playmakers would have finished those two plays , and many more, this time Tua has alot of weapons , and is stronger , we should see a dramatic improvement
The O had better improve cause it is better stocked, including 2 break-it WRs, a new OL guy and the 3 rooks there have a year under their belt.
Tua can play the exact same and the O is better. But obviously we are hoping for more than that from him.
agreed, and agreed, lol
Nothing overly revealing from coach Flo but I’ll share it with you guys anyway.

Jordan Scarlett, RB and former FL gator got coaches mention
Wow!!! I know it’s college and a highlight film but he looks good. Why hasn’t he been able to stick with NFL teams after being a 5th round pick 3 years ago?
he had this guy named Christian Mcaffrey he couldnt beat out
I just read that he got banged up his rookie season in week 12 with knee and ankle injuries and was then waived in the offseason. Caught on with the Lions as a PS squad player in 2020 and then we signed him earlier this year. So maybe he can bring something to the table. The way he plays I’m sure he’ll compete and give it his all.
we didnt really have to give anything up to give him a chance, if it works out good, the Fins will look like geniuses, lol
if not, just another name that came and went
Stanger, I agree on the potential of the offense being better and it should be. But we’re still pretty young so it might not be where we expect it to be right out of the gate.
I didn’t think the offense was all that good last year. So low bar for better for me. And am expecting it.
Jordan Scarlett has an amazing amount of power for his size, not sure if i could call him a powerback, but i see why he got FLO’s attention
he doesnt go down on the first hit, thats for sure
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc-UCVxAAvk
Jordan Scarlett will get his first chance to start at RB
he had NO chance behind Mcaffrey, welcome to the crowd, nobody can beat out Mcaffrey IMO
He was 3rd on the depth chart as a rookie with the Panthers before getting hurt and then waived during the summer. Nobody was expecting him to beat out McCaffrey. LOL
With Fuller, Waddle, Parker and Gesicki on the field at once.am thinking we will see a lot of zone Ds this year. Helps contain the big plays but not so good at stopping the catch.
It is a matchup problem for sure.
Flo says the players will determine their role on the team, its up to them
this year should be alot more competitive than last year, its not going to easy to get a starting position in Miami, it has to be earned, against players that are very talented
Yep! That’s how Gaskin, Preston Williams, Seiler and a few others earned their roles. They earned it.
I think the starting positions are already pretty much set. Exceptions would be right side of the OL and maybe C, one S and slot CB.
Probably but that’s what I like about Flores, he doesn’t care about your status, it’s about performance. We have more top shelf talent now but also more depth that will work itself out on the practice field and then in games.
I would bet 2+ months before the draft they asked Tua what WR he wanted and why, and he responded 100% Waddle, because of the attention he garners and his take it to the house speed/moves on any play
There were some rumblings that Waddle is the reason we wanted to get back to #6. There were some pundits that thought if Waddle was healthy last year he would have put up numbers that would have him ahead of Chase. We obviously had him ahead of Sewell because we took him instead. However anyone wants to look at it. I think we wanted a shot at Pitts, Chase and Waddle and they all went 4, 5 and 6 with Sewell at 7.
Waddle is a Tyreek Hill type of talent. I’ll take that type of player on my team any day. They demand attention from defenses or it’s 6 points.
I agree, but think Pitts going at 4 was inconceivable at the time we traded down to 6.
Taking Long at 81 tells me they had interest in Pitts
agreed, and Hill is a good comparison, imo
maybe, but i never thought the Fins had a chance at Pitts at 6, hes too good for that
in any event, Tua gets his Bama teammate, and it should be good, real good
Long was simply too good to pass up that late in the draft, he led the nation in catches
You mean Long lead the nation in catches for a TE.
yes, thank You
He’s a UDFA the Saints cut, apparently for failing his physical. Sounds like PS at best…. and probably as a safety .
Yeah these aren’t premium additions just that DBs are paramount in our defense.
No doubt they love their DBs. Wouldn’t be shocked if Flores unveiled his new 1-0-10 scheme this season.
LOL @ Stanger.
We’ve seen the 1-10 defense with the Amoeba formation with one down lineman, but it’s usually 4-5 LBs and 5-6 DBs.
We continue to add competition in the secondary. No doubt DBs are primary elements in our defense.
(Cookie Monster Voice)
Feed me DBs! Raaaaahhhhhhhhh!
Wow our players want to get started in a more normal way. Very cool!

cant get past the paywall, but did the headline say that 70 players showed up?
Yep!
wow, thats more than i thought, impressive number
i think its cool there are always palm trees in the background, lol
I think it’s cool so many players showed up. They are self motivated players who want to make this team and win. Even some of them who know they’ll make the team showed up including Tua. 🙂
GUMP! What is your sole purpose in this army!?
To do what ever you tell me Drill Sargent!
Damn It, Private Gump, you are a gifted genius! That’s the most outstanding answer I’ve ever heard! You know, you must have a damn I.Q. of 160! Geeze you are damn gifted Private Gump.
You being a joker or a jerk? 😉
It is my favorite scene from the movie and it is on right now.
You are going to be a damn general one day Gump!
Gotta love the amount of guys that came to work! Gotta love this team, and it’s HC!
SOME OF YOU may already have noticed that FAU now has someone in a major sports Hall of Fame. Yesterday, when Kobe and some others were inducted into the pro basketball HOF, itwas announced that FAU’s Yolanda Griffith had likewise been inducted for her amazing achievements in the WNBA. Early on, she accepted a scholarship to play college ball at IOWA. But the birth of her first child caused her to reconsider. Her decision to instead come to Florida Atlantic’s fledgling women’s program was a boon to all parities involved.Eventually, she was drafted in the 1st round of the WNBA draft and was selected by the Sacramento Monarchs. She won the “Newcomer of the Year” Award her rookie season. A few years later she was named the league’s MVP, both during the regular season AND THE PLAYOFFS!! The Monarchs won their only WNBA Championship during that season, vaulting Yolanda into the League’s upper echelon of players. Her career was shortened to seven seasons due to an injury. However, she was named ALL-PRO first team in five of those seven seasons. Currently, she’s an assistant coach at SUNY Albany, a job she enjoys very much.
BRAVO TO YOU, YOLANDA GRIFFITH!!
A month ago, Dolphins players stood in solidarity with the NFL Players’ Association, releasing a statement that said they would skip voluntary workouts at the team facility this offseason for health and safety concerns.
But on Monday, more than 70 Dolphins players backtracked on their initial notion by reporting to Dolphins facility for the second phase of the voluntary offseason program on Monday, the South Florida Sun Sentinel confirmed.
According to NFL Network, the influx of Dolphins players came as a “result of a negotiation between the players and coach Brian Flores to lower the exertion level. Accordingly, players showed up to learn.”
“It was a good amount of us,” Gaskin said to reporters after Monday’s session.
“I know we’ve been having these Zoom meetings. Guys were excited to get out there, walk through. It was very slow pace. But just getting in that huddle, having somebody call plays, it’s different than just reading off flash cards.”
Is there a picture of Wilkins anywhere that shows him him not smiling or laughing? That is one happy dude.
He’s still my avi. He was the start being the 1st draft pick under Grier/Flores.
Interesting experiment… wonder what would have happened had they done this in Denver…
Nothing noticeable
Playing golf in Tahoe at 6300 feet above sea level didn’t notice anything different with distance
But your golf balls weren’t filled with helium, were they? LOL
I get what you’re saying, though: likely no difference regarding the venue. I’m going to start watching some of these punters and kickers, though. BIG difference when punting air vs helium.
“Air time” is the same (that makes scientific sense), but the distance is increased.
Don’t think 70 of 90 showing up is a lot. Players on rookie contracts, the fodder 37 (90 – 53), rookies and new players should all attend, that leaves 20 vets, that didn’t show up.
This solidarity not showing up is a ploy by the union to make these voluntary workouts really voluntary
Ba hum bug!!!! LOL
Just saying the guys that better show up or else did, those that didn’t have to didn’t.
You guys read a U75 article and let him decide what’s good, I read it and decide for myself🤪
If the helium balls has wind to the back it will go further if wind is to the face it will be shorter. The helium will allow it to float some, but like I said you would have to have the right conditions or it could be worse because wind would affect its accuracy and against the wind it would be shorter
if You shot it out of a cannon at supersonic speeds with helium gas pressure,’
when it breaks the speed of sound it will make a much higher pitch sound, versus supersonic with air pressure
but i fear all we are doing, is giving belicheat some ideas, lol
Or Tua some ideas😉
That wouldn’t work his balls already float
I’m impressed with Gaskin and his demeanor,
dont try this at home, go over to Tims house and try it there, lol JK
Not that this list really means anything, but . . .
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-running-back-rankings-the-32-best-rbs-entering-the-2021-nfl-season
i dont care for it, they have rookies that have never played on the list, ahead of NFL pro bowlers like Raheem Mostert, the fastest RB in the NFL
That’s fine, but when was Mostert a Pro Bowler? He never had one 1000 yard season in the NFL in a 16 game season. He had 104 carries last season, 2nd on his team.
2019, when was najee harris a pro bowler?
https://www.49ers.com/news/49ers-2020-pro-bowl-roster
Harris MIGHT win a pro bowl someday, but he has zero yards so far, he also could be another Benny Snell
only time will tell, but to put him over a former pro bowler? i dont agree with that
but its just an opinion list, not a big deal
Before Josh Allen overcame his accuracy issues last year he was just a little better than average.
Tua comes across as much smarter than Allen, so no reason he can’t figure out how to read the D like he did at Bama.
Another reason Allen was so unstoppable was the way holding was called ( or wasn’t), if it’s called back to the 2019 standard he should come back to the pack some.
Would figure though they’d leave it the same as last year to give us the finger for another decade.
Over 10 years ago after Belicheat’s D mugged the Colts receivers in the AFC Championship game and they bitched about it, causing the 5 yard chuck to be enforced and Brady to be near unstoppable…we may have another enforcement change that benefits a division rival
Allen has a cannon for an arm
One of the biggest reasons for his success is the addition to Diggs who stretches the field for him
I don’t really view Allen as a QB who dissects the defense, I think defenses have no choice but to give him room underneath and that paired with his ability to still hit targets downfield (Diggs) is what really helps him
Not calling holding, as you said, certainly helped his game
Interesting that they are still not saying what the injury was.
Do you mean what part of his knee he injured?
Yes and what he did to it..
The Fins better be good against the run, because the schedule is brutal according to everyone’s fav Brian Miller.
We play 14 teams this year 45% of the league and 9 of the top 20 RBs also 45%, so I’m pretty sure that’s about the average number of top 20 RBs every team faces.
You could say we face Henry, so it should be weighted some, but still not brutal.
Only 9 rushers had 1k yards last year one of which was Lamar Jackson.
Of course we need to be better than we were last year against the run and why we traded for McKinney, but let’s not sensationalize it based on opponent

Mostert was an alternate in the Pro Bowl. In any case, he’s nothing special
agreed, he hasnt accomplished as much in the NFL as Najee harris has
it was somebodys opinion
was sarcasm
but you missed the point,
i didnt say Mostert was the best RB in the NFL , i said he was the fastest, and a former pro bowler alternate to be specific in 2019
i also dont think Harris is the fastest, nor do i think he has accomplished anything at all in the NFL yet
he does have upside, but so did Benny SNell, that did NOT work out, Benny SNell is a bust IMO
so until Harris gets a pro bowl alternate at minimum, he is not as good as Mostert yet
we all know Harris will never be as fast as him
but either way, neither of them play for Miami, so its not really important overall
Mostert is a stud if he can stay healthy
true
he can turn on the jets in open field, and nobody can catch him
he was the only player in the NFL over the last few years, clocked at over 23 MPH during a game
against the JEts, lol
80 yard TD, 23 MPH, First play of the game
First?
Last?
“I just needed to get up out of Seattle, to be honest. Florida is Florida, so everything’s open. And just the weather. I mean, I got an apartment here. I’m not trying to – I’m not paying for an apartment not to stay there. So I have my other reasons for myself and obviously, help me learn the playbook being on-site. I mean, we got everything you need here, but there’s definitely a mix of football and just trying to get up – I was living at my parents’ house, so you know how that goes. It’s cool and all until they want you to clean a bathroom or something. (laughter)”

Phins “gave up over 100 yards rushing nine times last year total but also gave up 99, 98, and 94 yards rushing as well.” (from Brian Miler)
That’s 12 games. Only 16 in the season last year. Maybe it is all part of the bend and don’t break.
